Penix's future with Falcons hinges on this season; fifth-year option decision looms after 2024.

Penix's long-term viability as the Falcons' franchise quarterback remains uncertain; he was drafted eighth overall by the previous regime weeks after Kirk Cousins signed, and the new front office (GM Ian Cunningham, coach Kevin Stefanski, and president Matt Ryan) will evaluate whether to exercise his fifth-year option after this season or pursue a quarterback in a deep 2025 draft class featuring Dante Moore and Arch Manning.
