NFL.com News on J.J. McCarthy

McCarthy's 57.6% completion rate and 12 INTs in 10 starts drove Vikings to trade him.

McCarthy was traded from the Vikings to the Giants after just 10 starts in which he struggled mightily with accuracy. In his 10 starts, he completed 57.6% of his passes for 1,632 yards with 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. The Vikings moved on after McCarthy missed his entire rookie season with a preseason knee injury, then struggled to stay healthy and was scattershot when on the field, showing only brief glimpses of consistently moving the offense. During training camp and preseason, the struggles continued, and the Vikings couldn't trust McCarthy even as the primary backup, relegating him to an inactive emergency third QB to start the season.
