A.J. Brown

PositiveProjection26:22

Jamie Eisenberg drafted AJ Brown early in his mock draft alongside Christian McCaffrey with the 10th pick, indicating elite-tier confidence.

Insight page
PositiveValue32:00

Jamie Eisenberg took AJ Brown in round two of his mock draft. Eisenberg notes that Brown and Zay Flowers averaged the same fantasy points per game last year, and he expresses comfort with the Brown selection (saying "I love your start"), indicating confidence in the round two placement.

Insight page
PositiveProjection64:17

Jamie Eisenberg argues AJ Brown is underranked at wide receiver 11 despite being a top-two option. He highlights a six-game stretch (weeks 9–16) where Brown averaged over 19 PPR points per game, demonstrating his ceiling. Eisenberg credits Drake Maye's upgrade over Stefan Diggs' previous quarterback situation as night-and-day improvement, positioning Brown to compete for a top-five wide receiver finish this season.

Insight page

Alec Pierce

NegativeValue28:30

Alec Pierce is compared to Christian Watson as potentially having a similar career path, though neither is expected to reach the elite production level of Lamar Jackson.

Insight page
NegativeBust36:45

Jamie Eisenberg uses Alec Pierce as an example of a receiver who can underperform expectations, illustrating the risk of early receiver investment and the need for late-round upside to compensate.

Insight page

Amon-Ra St. Brown

PositiveValue40:57

Amon-Ra St. Brown is positioned as an attainable wide receiver in rounds three and four near the turn, available at ADP ranges where quality receivers are still available; Jamie Eisenberg groups him with Treylon Burks and Stefon Diggs as receivers in the 30-48 ADP range worth targeting.

Insight page

Antonio Williams

PositiveSleeper36:45

Jamie Eisenberg cites Antonio Williams as an example of a late-round receiver who can emerge unexpectedly and overcome earlier receiver misses, supporting a strategy of waiting on receiver depth and hoping for waiver-wire or late-round breakouts.

Insight page

Breece Hall

NegativeValue15:00

Breece Hall was the highest-ranked player on Jamie Eisenberg's rankings available in round four of the mock draft; Jamie faced a decision to take Hall or a second wide receiver, ultimately deciding that going running back-running back in a three-wide-receiver league probably should have meant taking a second wide receiver in round four, though Jamie was fine with how the draft worked out overall.

Insight page
PositiveValue26:26

Jamie Eisenberg took Breece Hall earlier in his mock draft rather than Lamar Jackson, indicating preference for Hall's value at his draft position over early quarterback selection.

Insight page
NegativeValue29:15

Jamie Eisenberg previously took Breece Hall early in a draft, which burned him because other receivers like Burden, Neighbors, McLaurin, Adams, and Evans remained available, suggesting he may have reached on Hall when better value was available at receiver.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

PositiveBreakout28:24

Brian Thomas Jr. is cited as an example of a late-round wide receiver breakout success, similar to Michael Wilson last year, demonstrating that late-round receiver hits can occur and provide league-winning value.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

NegativeValue11:45

Brock Bowers was selected in the third round of a 12-team, three-wide-receiver, full-PPR mock draft, part of a stack with Puka Nakua (round 1), Jeremiah Love (round 2), Cam Scadaboo (round 4), and Terry McLaurin (round 5).

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

PositiveValue21:12

Jamie Eisenberg uses Christian McCaffrey as an example of a premium round-one pick that anchors a successful draft strategy; the strategy involves taking McCaffrey in round one, then Brees Hall in round four, and building around that foundation with flexible positioning decisions.

Insight page
PositiveProjection26:22

Jamie Eisenberg drafted Christian McCaffrey with the 10th pick in his mock draft, indicating confidence in his elite tier status and early-round value.

Insight page
PositiveProjection40:28

McCaffrey is projected to go sooner than his mock draft placement based on ADP trends; Jamie Eisenberg suggests switching McCaffrey and James Cook in the mock to better reflect actual draft market expectations.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveBreakout22:44

Jamie Eisenberg uses Christian Watson as an example of a receiver with breakout potential in round five, projecting 15-16 points per game as a potential breakout season candidate in mock drafts.

Insight page
NegativeBust26:36

The panel considers taking Christian Watson over Lamar Jackson to be 'insanity' and 'absolutely insane,' unless you have high conviction on securing a top-tier quarterback like Joe Burrow, Drake Maye, or Jaden Daniels in the next round.

Insight page
NegativeValue27:15

Christian Watson has zero seasons of elite production compared to Lamar Jackson's two; Jamie Eisenberg views Watson as better than other receivers in the same range (Marvin Harrison, Brian Thomas Jr., Jamison Williams) but not at the level of Jackson, and prefers Watson over late-round receiver lottery tickets due to the difficulty of identifying breakout late-round receivers versus established role players.

Insight page
PositiveValue30:30

Jamie Eisenberg expresses that he likes Christian Watson quite a bit, though he doesn't see how Watson could go ahead of Lamar Jackson in draft order. The discussion frames Watson as a special player at his position with the potential to be amazing if he hits, but Eisenberg's preference for Jackson suggests Watson carries more uncertainty relative to his draft position.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

NegativeDepth Chart7:04

Chuba Hubbard was expected to start the year as the lead guy for the Panthers with Jonathan Brooks worked in gradually; however, Jonathan Brooks taking first-team reps with no limitations in training camp raised questions about the backfield hierarchy, though the speaker indicated nothing had fundamentally changed in the evaluation.

Insight page
NegativeValue8:00

Chuba Hubbard fell in ADP during a mock draft and was taken 82nd overall; the speaker noted that despite uncertainty around the backfield, the player felt compelled to take him at that price point given the lack of other options at the position.

Insight page

Cooper Kupp

NegativeProjection52:12

Kupp's production as Stafford's WR1 in Los Angeles has been elite but inconsistent. In 2021, he was WR1 overall; in 2022, he was WR24 per game in a 9-game season; in 2023, he was WR24 per game including a game where he played only 27% of snaps and scored 2 fantasy points; in 2024, he was WR23 per game with another early exit. This volatility reflects both injury and role fluctuation despite his elite ceiling.

Insight page

Davante Adams

NegativeValue27:15

Devante Adams is cited as a receiver who could still be available later in the draft compared to taking Lamar Jackson early; Jamie Eisenberg argues that taking Jackson early is justified because you cannot reliably find equivalent value at receiver in later rounds.

Insight page
PositiveValue41:52

DeVante Adams is cited as an obvious hit from the 30-48 ADP range in prior years; Jamie Eisenberg uses him as a historical example of successful receivers drafted in this range.

Insight page
NegativeValue52:12

Adams's ADP aligns with the historical mean outcome for Stafford's WR2 in Los Angeles. Over Stafford's five seasons with the Rams, the WR2 finished 24th or better per game in four of five seasons, which matches Adams's current draft positioning. This suggests his ADP is appropriately calibrated to his expected role and production ceiling in the Rams offense.

Insight page

De'Von Achane

NegativeProjection63:54

Jamie Eisenberg believes the industry is too high on Achane despite his 11th overall ranking. Over 25 games with Tua the last two years, Achane averaged 21.5 PPR points per game; without Tua (8 games), he averaged 10.5 PPR points per game—a glaring drop. Eisenberg projects Miami's 4.5 win total will correlate to fewer touchdowns and points scored. Additionally, Malik Willis ranks last in target rate to running backs over the last two years, and stacked boxes will likely focus on stopping the run given Miami's receiving core, limiting Achane's upside despite his talent.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

PositiveValue33:20

Jamie Eisenberg identifies DeVonta Smith as a wide receiver he would automatically pick if available at the end of round three or beginning of round four, indicating strong conviction in Smith at that price point. Eisenberg notes that Smith is likely to be available at that range based on ADP, making him a target in that tier.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveValue21:45

Jamie Eisenberg identifies Drake May as a quarterback he couldn't pass up in mock drafts, suggesting early quarterback selection can work if the quarterback is elite enough to dominate scoring and reduce the need to win at receiver.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout26:41

Drake Maye is cited as a breakout quarterback option in fantasy last year; the panel notes that many analysts, including those on the show, correctly predicted Maye would be the breakout quarterback in fantasy, suggesting he offers value if available later.

Insight page
PositiveProjection27:00

Drake Maye was the breakout quarterback in fantasy last year, averaging 24 fantasy points per game; however, this production level is still below elite quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson who could average 30 points per game.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

NegativeDepth Chart9:15

Fernando Mendoza signed his rookie contract, making Ty Simpson of the Rams the only unsigned first-round pick, indicating Mendoza's status is resolved.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

NegativeValue5:25

Shonka groups Garrett Wilson with Jalen Waddle, Devante Smith, and Buka Christian Watson as comparable ADP-range receivers in the 3–4 turn area that he'd pass up to take Nabors.

Insight page
NegativeValue32:30

Jamie Eisenberg drafted Garrett Wilson in round four of his mock team but expresses lack of conviction in the pick. Eisenberg groups Wilson among wide receivers he sees as carrying significant risk in the round three to four range, alongside Zay Flowers, Mike McConkie, Ted Rodgers McMillan, Jalen Waddle, and Luther Burden, indicating uncertainty about the round four placement.

Insight page
NegativeProjection42:43

Garrett Wilson finished as wide receiver 15 per game last year, though he was top-12 in his healthy games; the Jets offense ranked 29th overall and struggled when he was on the field. Jamie Eisenberg uses this as evidence that there is no consistent profile for which receivers will succeed from the 30-48 ADP range, regardless of offense quality.

Insight page

Jalen Coker

PositiveSleeper36:45

Jamie Eisenberg cites Jalen Coker as an example of a late-round receiver who can emerge unexpectedly and overcome earlier receiver misses, supporting a strategy of waiting on receiver depth and hoping for waiver-wire or late-round breakouts.

Insight page

James Cook

NegativeProjection40:28

James Cook is not expected to go as high as his mock draft placement; Jamie Eisenberg suggests swapping him with Christian McCaffrey to better align with actual ADP.

Insight page

Jameson Williams

NegativeValue29:00

Jamison Williams was in consideration in the same draft range as Christian Watson and other receivers, with Jamie Eisenberg viewing Watson as slightly better than Williams but not significantly so.

Insight page

Javonte Williams

NegativeValue33:00

Jamie Eisenberg mentions Javante Williams as a running back option in the round three to four range but expresses that he likes him without loving him, placing Williams in a tier of running backs (alongside Travis H and Brees Hall) that he views as acceptable but not preferred.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

NegativeValue23:17

Dan mentions taking Jaden Daniels earlier in leagues as part of testing early quarterback strategies; he found that while early stud quarterbacks improve competitive chances (top-six team), they don't maximize the chance of being the best team in the league.

Insight page
PositiveProjection26:41

Jaden Daniels is mentioned as a quarterback option the panel loves, suggesting he could justify passing on early-round quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson if you have conviction on securing Daniels later.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

NegativeValue5:19

Shonka mentions Jalen Waddle as a comparable ADP-range receiver (alongside Devante Smith, Buka Christian Watson, and Garrett Wilson) that he'd be passing up to take Nabors in the 3–4 turn area, implying Waddle is in the same draft tier as Nabors.

Insight page
NegativeValue32:30

Jamie Eisenberg groups Jalen Waddle among wide receivers he sees as carrying significant risk in the round three to four range, alongside Zay Flowers, Garrett Wilson, Mike McConkie, Ted Rodgers McMillan, and Luther Burden, indicating lack of conviction in Waddle at that draft position.

Insight page
PositiveValue41:04

Jaylen Waddle is mentioned as part of the group of receivers available in the 30-48 ADP range in rounds three and four, positioned as an attainable target for teams that secure two quality receivers early.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

NegativeValue11:45

Jeremiah Love was selected in the second round of a 12-team, three-wide-receiver, full-PPR mock draft, part of a stack with Puka Nakua (round 1), Brock Bowers (round 3), Cam Scadaboo (round 4), and Terry McLaurin (round 5).

Insight page

Joe Burrow

PositiveProjection26:41

Joe Burrow is cited as a top-tier quarterback option that could justify passing on Lamar Jackson early if you have conviction on securing Burrow in the next round.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

PositiveValue13:48

Jamie Eisenberg selected Jonathan Taylor seventh overall and followed with Ken Walker in the second round to test a running-back-heavy start in a three-wide-receiver league; Jamie was thrilled with the first three picks (Taylor, Walker, and Emeka Abuka) and noted the strategy worked out well.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

PositiveDepth Chart7:04

Jonathan Brooks took first-team reps in Panthers training camp with no reported limitations, which was described as more encouraging for his role despite speculation that Chuba Hubbard would start the year as the lead guy.

Insight page

Jordy Nelson

NegativeProjection5:45

Shonka references Jordy Nelson as a historical comparison for Nabors' pre-injury reception perception charting, suggesting Nabors' early production was on par with elite receivers like Nelson, implying similar upside if healthy.

Insight page

Josh Allen

NegativeValue29:15

Josh Allen was the only quarterback taken off the board in the mock draft discussed, with no other quarterbacks selected early, suggesting quarterbacks were being left on the board and not prioritized in the early rounds.

Insight page
PositiveValue33:20

Jamie Eisenberg notes that Josh Allen hadn't come off the board yet in his mock draft, suggesting Allen was still available late. Eisenberg indicates that if a league is drafting three quarterbacks in the first 30 picks, then taking a quarterback early might be justified, but otherwise he sees limited value in early quarterback selection.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

NegativeValue12:45

Josh Jacobs was selected four picks after Jeremiah Love in a 12-team, three-wide-receiver, full-PPR mock draft; the context suggests he was available in the mid-second round.

Insight page

Keenan Allen

NegativeProjection42:28

Keenan Allen finished as wide receiver three per game three years ago on the 20th-best offense; Jamie Eisenberg uses this as evidence that there is no consistent profile for which receivers will succeed from the 30-48 ADP range, regardless of offense quality.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

PositiveProjection46:40

Jamie Eisenberg ranks Kyler Murray "obnoxiously and almost irresponsibly high" in his rankings, primarily based on the Vikings' easy schedule and Kevin O'Connell's recent comments about wanting to get back to being a pass-first offense, which Eisenberg views as "really important" for Murray's fantasy value.

Insight page
PositiveProjection67:20

Dan ranks Kyler Murray 'obnoxiously and almost irresponsibly high' in his rankings, primarily based on Minnesota's easy schedule and recent comments from Kevin O'Connell. The ranking reflects confidence in Murray's upside if he wins and keeps the starting job, positioning him as a strong late-round quarterback pairing option.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

NegativeDepth Chart32:40

Jamie Eisenberg notes that Kyron Williams was off the board in his mock draft by the end of round three, indicating the running back was selected before that point. Eisenberg states he doesn't see a running back he loves in the round three to four range after Williams is gone, suggesting Williams was taken earlier than that tier.

Insight page

Ladd McConkey

PositiveMatchup42:26

Ladd McConkey is compared favorably to Garrett Wilson based on offense quality; Jamie Eisenberg notes the Chargers offense is expected to be significantly better than the Jets offense, suggesting McConkey has a better situation despite similar ADP positioning.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

NegativeValue26:26

Jamie Eisenberg passed on Lamar Jackson in favor of Breece Hall, suggesting he views early quarterback selection as poor value relative to running back options at that draft stage.

Insight page
PositiveProjection27:30

Lamar Jackson has two seasons of super incredible elite production and could average 30 fantasy points per game, making him an outlier at the quarterback position; Jamie Eisenberg argues he is the best pick on the board from a positional scoring advantage perspective and justifies taking him early over wide receivers like Mike Evans or Devante Adams.

Insight page
PositiveProjection30:07

Jamie Eisenberg believes Lamar Jackson has the most upside at the quarterback position this season, though he would take Josh Allen ahead of him. Eisenberg notes Jackson scored 33+ fantasy points in four of his first five games last season (in six-point passing TD leagues), including one game after missing a month with lower body injuries. While Eisenberg won't project Jackson to average 30 points per game—calling that "an insane season"—he views Jackson's ceiling as the highest among all quarterbacks.

Insight page
NegativeValue67:20

Dan notes that Lamar Jackson is available around pick six and can score massive points, but advocates waiting on quarterback to build depth at running back and receiver first, then constructing a competitive quarterback duo via late-round pairing strategy rather than investing early capital in a single elite quarterback.

Insight page

Luther Burden

NegativeValue32:30

Jamie Eisenberg groups Luther Burden among wide receivers he sees as carrying significant risk in the round three to four range, alongside Zay Flowers, Garrett Wilson, Mike McConkie, Ted Rodgers McMillan, and Jalen Waddle, indicating lack of conviction in Burden at that draft position.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

NegativeInjury1:42

Expected to avoid the PUP list and could play in week one after tearing his ACL and meniscus; historical precedent for stud wide receivers recovering from ACL injuries is encouraging—Jordy Nelson was WR2 the next year, Keenan Allen was WR3, Chris Godwin was WR18 overall (WR17 per game) after tearing ACL and MCL, and Cooper Cup was WR4 the next year after tearing his ACL in week 10.

Insight page
NegativeValue2:18

Jamie Eisenberg is not drafting him close to his current ADP of wide receiver 14 on Fantasy Pros; would only draft him in round four if still available, suggesting significant overvaluation at current market price.

Insight page
NegativeValue3:19

Jamie Eisenberg won't draft Nabors at his current ADP of WR14 on Fantasy Pros; earliest he'd take him is round four. Despite encouraging injury recovery news, Eisenberg cites the Giants offense's limitations and Nabors' expected ramp-up period as reasons to wait. He projects Nabors could be a top-10 WR and league winner in the final 5–6 games but suggests trading for him mid-season when he's struggling rather than drafting early.

Insight page
NegativeProjection5:07

Dan Shonka ranks Nabors at WR15, ahead of Eisenberg's round-four threshold. Shonka cites Matt Harmon's reception perception charting showing Nabors' pre-injury production (3–4 games) was on par with elite receivers like Jordy Nelson, suggesting if healthy he could be a WR1 and one of the best receivers in fantasy. Shonka is willing to take the discount and bake in downside risk given the upside ceiling.

Insight page
NegativeProjection42:33

Malik Nabers finished as wide receiver eight per game two years ago on the 31st-ranked offense; Jamie Eisenberg uses this as evidence that there is no consistent profile for which receivers will succeed from the 30-48 ADP range, regardless of offense quality.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeDepth Chart9:15

ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reported that Marvin Harrison Jr. is Arizona's number one wide receiver in theory, with Michael Wilson competing for that role, indicating some uncertainty about the depth chart hierarchy.

Insight page
NegativeValue29:00

Marvin Harrison was in consideration in the same draft range as Christian Watson and other receivers like Brian Thomas Jr. and Jamison Williams, with Jamie Eisenberg viewing Watson as slightly better than Harrison but not significantly so.

Insight page

Matthew Stafford

NegativeProjection52:12

Stafford's career with the Rams (2021–2025) shows a pattern of elite WR1 production paired with inconsistent WR2 output. In 2021, Robert Woods was WR19 per game; in 2022, Stafford played only 9 games with no secondary receiver production; in 2023, Puka Nakua was WR6 per game while Cooper Cup was WR24 per game; in 2024, Puka was WR4 per game and Cup was WR23 per game; in 2025, Puka was WR1 per game and Adams was WR9 per game. Four of five seasons saw the WR2 finish 24th or better per game, which aligns with Devante Adams's current ADP.

Insight page

Michael Wilson

NegativeDepth Chart9:15

Michael Wilson is expected to compete for the number one wide receiver role with Marvin Harrison Jr. in Arizona, per ESPN's Josh Weinfuss reporting.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout28:24

Michael Wilson last year was a league winner, exemplifying the potential for late-round wide receiver breakouts; however, the source notes it is much harder to identify these breakout late-round receivers than to identify established role players like Trevor Lawrence.

Insight page

Mike Evans

NegativeValue27:15

Mike Evans is cited as a receiver who could still be available later in the draft compared to taking Lamar Jackson early; Jamie Eisenberg argues that taking Jackson early is justified because you cannot reliably find equivalent value at receiver in later rounds.

Insight page
PositiveValue41:04

Mike Evans is mentioned as part of the group of receivers available in the 30-48 ADP range in rounds three and four, positioned as an attainable target for teams that secure two quality receivers early.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveValue47:13

Jamie Eisenberg views Patrick Mahomes at his current ADP (QB 14-16) as "the cheapest you'll look at him in his career" and states "we've never gotten my homes at this price. It's unreal." He wants to be "in on the homes this year at his ADP for sure," though he notes concerns about reduced rushing volume (which saved his fantasy value last year) and lack of new receiving weapons.

Insight page
PositiveValue66:32

Dan advocates pairing Patrick Mahomes with Kyler Murray as a quarterback strategy, allowing drafters to stack running backs and receivers early and construct a competitive quarterback duo by playing matchups rather than reaching for a single elite signal-caller early.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

NegativeValue9:42

Puka Nakua was selected first overall in a 12-team, three-wide-receiver, full-PPR mock draft, which was noted as quite surprising.

Insight page
PositiveProjection52:12

Nakua has emerged as Stafford's primary target in Los Angeles, posting WR6 per game in 2023, WR4 per game in 2024, and WR1 per game in 2025. This progression demonstrates consistent elevation in role and production, establishing him as the clear focal point of the Rams passing attack.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

NegativeBust36:45

Jamie Eisenberg uses Quinton Johnson as an example of a receiver who can underperform expectations, illustrating the risk of early receiver investment and the need for late-round upside to compensate.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveProjection43:48

Saquon Barkley is ranked lower than Devon Etienne (11th overall) according to a listener's question, suggesting he may be undervalued relative to Etienne's ranking.

Insight page

Terry McLaurin

NegativeValue11:45

Terry McLaurin was selected in the fifth round of a 12-team, three-wide-receiver, full-PPR mock draft, part of a stack with Puka Nakua (round 1), Jeremiah Love (round 2), Brock Bowers (round 3), and Cam Scadaboo (round 4).

Insight page

Travis Hunter

PositiveRole9:00

Travis Hunter is going to play both offense and defense for the Broncos this season, per head coach Liam Cohen, expanding his role and potential fantasy relevance.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

NegativeRole29:00

Trevor Lawrence is cited as an example of an established role player whose snap count and role are known going into the season (playing 100% of snaps), making him easier to identify and project than late-round wide receiver breakout candidates.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

PositiveRole9:00

Baltimore head coach Jesse Minter stated that he wants to get Zay Flowers the ball in as many ways as possible, saying 'The more that guy touches the ball the better we'll be,' signaling an emphasis on increasing Flowers' offensive touches and involvement.

Insight page
NegativeValue32:00

Jamie Eisenberg drafted Zay Flowers in round three of his mock draft and notes that Flowers and AJ Brown (whom he took in round two) averaged the same amount of fantasy points per game last year. However, Eisenberg expresses slight nervousness about taking Flowers in round three, citing lack of conviction in wide receiver picks in that range and noting significant risk among receivers like Flowers, Garrett Wilson, Mike McConkie, Ted Rodgers McMillan, Jalen Waddle, and Luther Burden.

Insight page
PositiveProjection53:21

Flowers posted 1,200 receiving yards in 2024, a season in which wide receivers collectively caught fewer yards than in recent years. This production in a down year for the position demonstrates above-average efficiency and role security, suggesting his output is more sustainable than the overall WR2 landscape.

0:33internet, wish him a happy birthday This is the actual day?
0:36Now you can do it officially This is the actual day Wow, it's the actual day Hello Dan, welcome back Dan Dan
0:43is full of energy today and I am not sure I'm excited about that Oh yeah Because he is on the attack
0:49He's an attack mode Well, I had some good news and some bad news The bad news, we'll start with the bad
0:56news first I slipped a disc in my back Yeah, a disc, that's how you say it Okay, I went back and
1:02listened to the tape It seems to be healing up pretty fine though The good news though I didn't say As I
1:09was laying down trying to stretch out and get myself back to normal last night I watched an amazing sports movie, Jerry
1:15Maguire It was unbelievable I hadn't seen it in like 10 years I love this scene at the end on the football
1:22field in the sports movie, Jerry Maguire So it's been an okay back and forth these past couple hours Dan came with
1:28boats He did, yeah He did very prepared attacks from the end today Alright, we do have an email about that later
1:35Our email address is fantasyfootballatcbsi.com That's the letter I Fantasyfootballatcbsi.com Let's get to our news and notes Because a big report here
1:42on Malik Neighbors Very relevant after the conversation we had with Joe Pisapia yesterday Malik Neighbors expected to avoid the pup list
1:48And could play in week one And this is great news And if you look I feel like, Jamie, I feel like
1:55I'm about to be the Malik Neighbors guy He tore his ACL, but he also tore his meniscus That's the complicating factor
2:01here And it seemed like he had somewhat of a slow recovery He had a cleanup operation But, you know, Dr.
2:07Jesse Morris actually had a post about this If you go and you look at stud wide receivers who tore their ACLs
2:14The history is pretty good Jordy Nelson tore his ACL in 2015 He was wide receiver two the next year Keenan Allen
2:21tore his ACL in 2016 He was wide receiver three the next year Chris Godwin tore his ACL and MCL in week
2:2715 of 2021 The next year he was wide receiver 18 overall 17th per game And he, according to Dr.
2:33Morris He hurt his hamstring in week one He missed weeks two and three And then he was very good late in
2:40the season Corlin Sutton was bad for like three years After he tore his ACL and MCL in 2020 I don't know
2:46if that was an injury thing Or an offense thing or what You got Odell Beckham It's hard to say because he
2:53tore his ACL He was never really He wasn't really the same player when he tore the ACL But he struggled a
2:59little Well, he fractured his ankle Beckham in week five of 2017 In 2018, he was wide receiver nine per game He
3:06was still very good And then Cooper Cup In his second season He tore his ACL in week 10 And he was
3:12wide receiver four the next year Wide receiver seven per game It's actually really encouraging stuff, Jamie So now you get this
3:19report about Malik Nabors And what do you think about him at this moment?
3:23Still not drafting him close to what his current ADP is At least on Fantasy Pros Where he's wide receiver 14 So
3:30I'm completely out there I'll draft him in round four If he's still there That's the earliest I'll pull the trigger I
3:36just think when you look at some of the receivers That are going in this range They have for this season only
3:43For the current situation that Malik Nabors is in Because he's not going to be at his peak He's still going to
3:49have whatever recovery time And this doesn't The report Unless I'm missing something While he might avoid the pup list He also
3:56could still miss time early in the season So they're just wanting to make sure That he's able to practice As long
4:02as he's able to hold up So I think just looking at it Where he's at And what the Giants offense It
4:09seemingly wants to be I don't think we're going to get The best of Malik Nabors From a production standpoint So Jordy
4:16Nelson too Whatever other finishes we had For some of these guys I just don't see that For Malik Nabors right now
4:22Could he be a top 10 caliber wide receiver By the end of the season For the let's say final six games
4:29Final five games Whatever the case may be League winner at that point Absolutely But I think if that's really Where you
4:35want to get Malik Nabors You trade for him Middle of the season Or early in the season When he's struggling to
4:42produce Because I still think There's going to be That ramp up period That we still need to see from him So
4:48this is Very encouraging Great news Obviously if you've drafted already Or have Malik Nabors In Dynasty Don't trade him for Michael
4:55Wilson draft picks But if you have Malik Nabors You know on your roster You're excited about this I just still think
5:01He's a round four pick At the earliest Okay Dan just real quick When are you taking Nabors?
5:07I probably have him Considerably higher than Jamie I had a feeling Just from following the beats That this was going to
5:13happen And there was a lot of speculation It was going to be Pup And all this stuff No real information behind
5:20it So I'm excited But I was expecting this And I had him ranked always At where I have him now Which
5:26is Wider Seer 15 So I will definitely Be taking him ahead of Jamie And that seems like It's right in line
5:33With where the consensus Is taking him Which may be over drafting him But if you really look at it I saw
5:39Matt Harmon chart Talking about this earlier Maybe this week Or a couple days ago His charting Like in his first year
5:46And four games Whatever it was Three games Before the injury Is on the level From a reception Perception charting standpoint Of
5:53the best of the best receivers We're not talking about Like a pretty good receiver Who's coming back from an ACL We're
5:59talking about If he's back And if he's fine Like these guys Who just went over Which definitely encouraged me Jordy Nelson
6:06among others Then he's going to be A wide receiver one in fantasy And potentially the best One of the best receivers
6:12In fantasy So I'll take that discount And I'm okay Baking in the You know The downside But you are missing out
6:19On some good players Obviously I'm taking him in a range Of guys like Jalen Wada Who people love And Devante Smith
6:25Who people love And Buka Christian Watson Garrett Wilson Who some people I guess love So you're passing up On probably like
6:3214 points For PPR points per game Something in that range If he does just Bottom out completely Though it sounds like
6:38Not many have done that Based on your research Yeah we'll get to that Wide receivers in the Sort of 3-4 turn-ish
6:45area And what they've produced I actually looked at Wide receivers between 30 and 50 In ADP Over the last Three seasons
6:52And just my personal opinion I feel like I feel This way every year There are about 30 players That I feel
6:58really good About most years And then it seems like Midway through the third round Is when things start to get A
7:05little bit more complicated Of course you had Jackson Smith and Jigba In that range last year But you know It just
7:11sort of seems To be that way In fantasy For me anyway Alright let's get through The rest of the news and
7:18notes Jacoby Brissett He's got this contract dispute But he did practice In their first day Of training camp That's great This
7:24is a report That I wish I had seen Before I drafted Chuba Hubbard yesterday Jonathan Brooks Took some first team reps
7:31For the Panthers And reportedly Has no limitations According to Cameron Wolfe Of NFL Network You needed to see that Before you
7:37had A different evaluation Of Chuba Hubbard? No I didn't expect No limitations In training camp Oh I mean that's what We've
7:44heard for a while I don't know I've heard like Brought along slowly Speculation that Chuba Hubbard Would start the year As
7:51the lead guy And then they would work Jonathan Brooks in Oh I mean he's I don't think Anything's changed I don't
7:57know Getting first team reps It's just more encouraging For Jonathan Brooks But I don't think Anything's changed Well Chuba Hubbard Fell
8:04a little bit Anyway yesterday Let's see Well nobody wants him Which is understandable I mean he It's like again You know
8:10I hate to keep Saying the Spider-Man meme But it's like him And Tony Pollard Everybody's just like I don't want him
8:17I don't want him I don't want him And then it's like How do I not take him At this point I
8:23took him 82nd overall Yeah that's fine Okay And let's see What else Oh oh this is interesting With um With this
8:30report From Cameron Wolfe Also that Ted Arola McMillan's gonna play More in the slot I think Jamie You may have mentioned
8:36That yesterday But I looked at His numbers He averaged 2 yards Per route run In the slot On 110 routes Not
8:43a lot of routes But he only had A 15% slot rate McMillan But good numbers When he was in the slot
8:49Bad news though For the Panthers Is that Nick Scorton Second year edge rusher Tore his ACL And is out for the
8:56season Very good player for them Liam Cohen said Travis Hunter Is going to play Both offense and defense This season Baltimore
9:03head coach Jesse Minter Says he wants to get Zay Flowers the ball In as many ways As possible Minter said Quote
9:09The more that guy Touches the ball The better we'll be End quote Fernando Mendoza Signed his rookie contract Which means Ty
9:16Simpson of the Rams Is the only unsigned First round pick We had Josh Weinfuss Of ESPN Talking about the Cardinals Writing
9:22about the Cardinals Saying that Marvin Harrison Jr. Is Arizona's Number one wide receiver He wrote In theory And he said That
9:29Michael Wilson Is going to compete For that role Also Arizona news Two players on The Pup List Paris Johnson Offensive lineman
9:35And edge rusher Josh Sweat They're both expected To come off the Pup List pretty soon And Tennessee Offensive tackle J.C.
9:42Latham Is on the Pup List Big thing to promote Right now Is draft-a-thon It is starting Pretty soon In the coming

10:20Jude We want to beat that This year Which is the record It was the record But we're going to Set a
10:27new one Dan Schneier You're right Alright Let's take a look At the draft From yesterday 12 teams Three wide receivers Full
10:33PPR If you're looking here You see blue Is receivers Green Running backs Purple The tight ends And red The quarterbacks Jamie
10:40had The What the Sixth pick Seventh pick Seventh pick I had the Tenth pick Dan had More important things To do
10:47No that's not true I was recording Beyond the box score With Dave Richard On his pre-birthday episode That went two hours
10:53long And we enjoyed Every minute of it So yeah That actually was More important To be honest Yeah But Dave was
11:00in the draft So I don't know how that worked But good for Dave Dave missed Two picks That I had help
11:06with Wow What a beast On his birthday Recording with us And he was And it was about His picks The players
11:13he Thought were most overdrafted Wow Great job Dave No It wasn't his birthday Well it was the pre-birthday It was hours
11:19before his birthday Last day of 49 For Dave Yeah how about that All right so He did four hours of programming
11:26Good for him Yeah I know What a beast I'm not gonna really go through Every pick or anything If you want
11:32mock draft review Dave recorded an episode With Bob Harris And Jake Seeley last week You can look at that I'll just
11:39tell you In this draft Puka Nakua went first overall Which was quite surprising Stories on site If you want to read
11:45about it Yeah there you go Stories on the website Puka Nakua went one overall And if you do that What are
11:52you looking at Puka Nakua won Jeremiah Love Brock Bowers In rounds two and three Cam Scadaboo And Terry McLaurin At the
11:59four five turn So Jake started his team Puka Jeremiah Love Brock Bowers Cam Scadaboo Terry McLaurin Could you imagine If it
12:05was Henry instead of Love One pick away Yeah Or even if you know There's no issues Josh Jacobs Right Josh Jacobs
12:12went Four picks after that But in a three receiver league He didn't take a second receiver Until the four five turn
12:18That was Oh let's not talk about Second receivers What's that?
12:21Let's not talk about Second receivers Okay yeah Let's talk about Jamie's team So Jamie picked seventh And you went Running back
12:28Running back And you know I asked you for some takeaways And your first takeaway was Did running back Running back work
12:35When you started Jonathan Taylor Seventh And then Ken Walker In the second round So I Did that purposely Just to see
12:41how I was going to play out And was thrilled With the first three picks And then I had a choice To
12:48make in round four Which was So the first three picks Were Jonathan Taylor Ken Walker And then Emeka Abuka So again
12:54Perfectly happy With how that worked out Get to round four And I have a decision to make So Brees Hall Was
13:01the highest ranked player That I have in my rankings But obviously Going running back Running back In a three receiver league
13:07Probably should have taken A second wide receiver there If there's one thing That I would have changed I'm fine with the
13:14way That it worked out But if there's one thing That I would have changed Would have been to Obviously go away
13:20From what I have at ranked And taken a wide receiver there So I could have had Either Luther Burden Malik Nabors
13:27DJ Moore Terry McLaurin Devontae Adams Mike Evans Any of those guys So I was like You know what I'm going to
13:34take Brees Hall And I'm going to see Which of those receivers If any of them Fall back to me In round
13:40five And then They all went And so I'm like Okay I'll pivot here I'll take Lamar Jackson Who was falling too
13:47far At that point He was still The second quarterback Available Second quarterback My ranking So you know how Our analyst drafts
13:53go It's quarterbacks Fall way too far So that pushes A lot of That doesn't give The opportunity To take a lot
14:00of players That are probably Still going to be available Again Could have taken Christian Watson Or Romo Dunze My next two
14:06highest Ranked receivers Right there But wanted to see How this would all Play out So kind of Made the conscious Decision
14:13And as I explain In the story I know Dan Likes to say this a lot Which is Extremely accurate All points
14:19In your lineup Count the same It's not that The flex Is the ugly stepchild And we just Throw that position Away
14:26and forget Okay we don't need To have a Quality flex there My running back Core is better Than anybody's In this
14:33league By far When you have If they all Stay healthy And perform Like they're Cable Reform So Taylor Walker Breece Hall
14:39My flex Is going to be One of the better Flexes in the league But My second receiver And maybe my third
14:46Receiver Which a lot of People's third Receivers Don't always Stack up as well My second and third Receivers are going To
14:52be questionable So That was kind of The big takeaway Was Did I need to Take a third Running back In the
14:59first four Rounds After starting Running back Running back And I probably Would not do it again So But That's the issue
15:05Here The issue is The round four Pick Not starting Running back Running back Not starting Running back Running back I mean
15:12look Anytime you Have a strategy That unfolds for you So you know You're going to have An idea of what You
15:18want to do Prior to the draft When you know Draft spot But once the draft Unfolds So again I like Ken
15:25Walker A lot He is A top 15 Overall player For me If I was just Following my rankings When I got
15:31to Ken Walker Hampton was the Next highest player On my board as well So I was going Running back Running back
15:38I was taking A running back In round two No matter what Because I like Those two players Better than Anybody that
15:45went After them So then it was Just a matter of How rounds three Plus were going To work out And it
15:51was Just a question Of okay I was going To take a receiver In round three Kyron Williams Was a consideration Because
15:58I have him Ranked a little bit Higher than where He went also But again Starting to look At strategy Versus rankings
16:04And then I kind Of went back To rankings In round four Okay We're going to Take a quick Break and talk
16:11More about this And if you're Does it hurt Your team too much If you're chasing A position We'll discuss When we
16:17come Back on Fantasy Football Today So Jamie What did you Think about Kind of feeling The need To get that Wide
16:24receiver And how it Was affecting Your draft Well I mean Clearly I need To get talented Players there So once we
16:30got Through Lamar Jackson It was a question Of when do I Get a tight end And then what Receivers am I
16:37Sort of chasing That have upside And so Had the decision In round six Of Laporta Craft Pits All on the board
16:44In the order That I have him Ranked would be Laporta Craft Pits So I could have Taken any one Of those
16:50guys And again Okay now I'm Taking a better Tight end Than I end up With but again Sacrificing What I have
16:57to You know sort of Build at my The rest of my Receiving core But I I just started Just to say
17:03Okay I know This tier of Tight ends Are probably Going to go Am I comfortable Enough with that Final tier of
17:10My starters Which are Kittle Kelsey Likely And so that's Kind of how I played it out So I'll let Laporta go
17:16I'll let Pits go I'll let Craft go And I took Alec Pierce Who again As we said Earlier this Week I
17:23think if There was No issues With his Injury Or surgery His ADP Is probably A little bit Higher I think It's
17:29kind Of stayed Stagnant Because of People being Concerned Because clearly The path To success Is there We just Have to see
17:36Him follow That path Quentin Johnston I would draft Probably So if I Played this out Differently I would have Taken Johnston
17:43Let's say As a flex If we were Just looking At it that Way in Round seven Round eight Was like Okay
17:49I'm getting To the point In my Running back Rankings Where I Should probably Take a fourth Guy Just in case The
17:56top Three guys Have any Questions And I Still think Stevenson In this Range Is fine Round eight Based on What we
18:02Saw last Year Took the Tight end In round nine And then you See this Is where It's Am I Chasing Receiver
18:09Too much You know So just Trying to Throw darts At the board Of guys I think That still Have upside In
18:15this Range And I Was really Thrilled With this Group of Receivers So even If I Wasn't Chasing These guys Chasing The
18:22position I probably Would have Taken two Or three Of these Guys As opposed To four Which guys Of the Receivers That
18:28I Drafted So it's Jalen Coker Denzel Boston Antonio Williams And Jack Besh So those Were four Of my Last five Picks
18:35So after Getting the Fourth running Back Getting my Tight end And I Will always Tell everybody When you Get to one
18:41Of the Isolated Positions Look and See what Else Is happening In your League So this Impacted Adam Because when We got
18:48To After Likely And The board Kelsey To me Was the Last Top 12 Tight end In my Rankings And I Checked
18:55to See who Else Has them Adam Or Did not Have a Tight end Adam Was the Lone Fantasy Manager Without a
19:01Tight end So I Knew we Were playing The game Of who's Going to Blink First And take That Player And I
19:08Know he Likes Kelsey So I Wasn't Going to Let him Get the Opportunity To take Kelsey Yeah Do you Find You
19:14know You have Some of Those drafts Where Everything Just falls Into Place Your First Four Picks Like damn Love these Picks
19:21I got all My guys Players Went before Them that I wasn't Expecting It just Fell into Place Maybe this Wasn't that
19:27Draft for you Because you Ended up With Brees Hall In round Four Although I know You were Happy With your First
19:34Three Picks Of Taylor Walker And Abuka For me My first Four Picks Were McCaffrey AJ Brown I was Thrilled About that
19:40At the 10th Pick And then Zay Flowers Garrett Wilson And I Was not Thrilled With that I hated My rounds Three
19:47and Four Picks I I'll Explain In a Bit But my Question for You is When you're Not feeling Great about Your
19:54first Four Picks Assuming They're Some Combination Of Four Running Backs And Receivers Do you Do you Tend to Wait on Quarterback
20:00And or Tight end More In that Scenario And kind Of hammer Running Back and Receiver More Just to Build out Those
20:07Positions If you're Not Satisfied With your First Four Picks So Before I Answer I'll Just take A step Back For a
20:13Second The reason I love Doing mock Drafts And I Do a Lot of Them And I Probably Get criticized The most
20:20When you Read these Drafts Because I Like to Do different Things in These drafts And when We evaluate These things You're
20:26like Oh your Team sucks Or this Pick sucks Or that Pick sucks A lot Of it Is done On purpose Because
20:33I Like to See the Exercise And I Like to Put myself In the Shoes of People That are Like oh There's
20:39Lamar Jackson Sitting There I Think Anybody That knows The way I'm I have To do My job And say Okay How
20:46can You pass On Lamar Jackson Sitting there So what I encourage Everybody to Do and I Explain this In the story
20:53I don't know If I explained It accurately Dan could Say because He read it Please do As many Mock drafts As
20:59you Can You know It just Gives you The opportunity To try As many Things as You want You know So to
21:06Your point Adam Taking Tight end Early Taking Tight end Late Taking Quarterback Early Taking Quarterback Going Three Receivers With Your Second
21:12Third Fourth Picks After Taking Christian McCaffrey In round One Taking Brees Hall In round Four Try It And if It sucks
21:19And you Hate it It's Your team Right So when You get To your Actual Draft Day You have To make These
21:25Same Mistakes Or These Same Trials And Tribulations So I Think Sometimes When you Get Into These Things And How they Unfold
21:32You Have To Make Decisions On Those Isolated Positions So yes Do you Want to Wait On A Tight End Because You
21:38Feel Like You Have To Build Out Your Receiving Core Or You Have To Stack Running Backs Or There's Just Somebody Staring
21:45You In The Face That You Can't Pass Up So For You It Was Probably Drake May For Me It Was The
21:51Those Guys Are Incredible And Let's Just Say He's 26 Points Per Game And Clearly In The Conversation To Be QB One
21:58I Don't Necessarily Have To Win At Receiver Because My Quarterback Is So Dominant And The Way That I Darts At Other
22:05Spots And Hope Either The Waiver Wire Or Trades Or Just Somebody Coming Out Nowhere That I Drafted Later Like A Jalen
22:11Coker Or Antonio Williams Like That Overcomes Maybe Alec Pierce Or Quinton Johnson Sucking So Hopefully That's Not The Case But Again
22:18You Sort of Have To Go In With That Mindset Right Dan I'll Throw Loving The Way My Draft Is Going Yeah
22:24I Think I Go To This Version Of All right Well I'm Going To Try To Wait On Quarterback And Tight End
22:31And Let's Ask Dan This Right So So Dan You're You're Same Build That I Started Right So You Go Two Running
22:37Back Receiver Running Back You Get To Round Five I Don't Know Where You Feel About Christian Watson But Let's Just put
22:44Whatever Receiver There Who You Think Can Have A Breakout Season But Christian Watson Breakout Season Maybe 15 Points Per Game 16
22:50Points Per Game And Then You're That Last Year I Did Try A Couple League Specifically The League We Did Together I
22:57Don't Know If You Were In This Adam I Actually I Know You Weren't In This Adam Every You You It Is
23:04Started Job Standard So I Had Better And There Is A Lot Of Value On A Week To Week Basis To Having
23:10These Stud Quarterbacks Or Whatever It May Be So I've Learned I've Done This I've Another League I took Jaden Daniels Earlier
23:17Or Whoever It Was What What I've found is when you take the stud quarterbacks early, you have a better chance of
23:23being competitive within the year, like a top six type team, but you don't have the best chance of being the best team in the league.
23:31That's how I've experienced it at least to get that chance of being the best team in the league.
23:37In my mind, you have to take as many dart throws as possible at running back and receiver because flex is such an important position.
23:44You talked about it earlier to me. I always stress the importance of it because of what you said, like what you did here.
23:51I love because I think Brees Hulk could outscore most people's flexes by a wider margin than what your wide receiver to or whatever it may be.
23:59So for me, I just do honestly feel like I, I believe in passing on the quarterback.
24:04And last year I tried taking tight ends early to Bowers McBride that killed me as well.
24:09The leagues I ended up doing well in were the ones where I passed on tight end as well.
24:15These are just tough positions in one tight end and one quarterback leagues with 10 or 12 teams.
24:20It's really tough positions to get an edge on when you draft early, in my opinion, at least, especially three receiver leagues with a flex, right?
24:28The more you position you got to start, the worse it is to drafting these players.
24:33And I just want to make mention. So wicked good in the, in the chat.
24:37What if I don't like any of the options for Jamie's draft?
24:41Sorry, just an honest assessment. Do you have more selections just from yes, 1 billion percent.
24:46And that's the point of this is like, you don't have to agree with anything that we do.
24:51We're giving you a sample size of what we would do with those specific players.
24:55And that's just my point. Do mock drafts. Please do mock drafts.
24:59We have a great mock draft product. Other sites have great mock draft products.
25:03Like go out and practice these drafts because again, you may not like something that we do.
25:08We're about to do something we do every year.
25:11Probably I think next week, correct me if I'm wrong again, our pick by pick series where we do, you know, multiple,
25:18we, we, we, we do a six, we do a 12 team league with six people drafting two teams.
25:23So we give you two different ideas. We do, we give you different ideas of what you could do at those draft spots.
25:30And I think it's one of the best things we've done.
25:33We've done it for, you know, for almost 20 years at this point.
25:37It's just giving, you know, this is the evaluation and we give you this player.
25:42We could have taken, not taken favorite pick, worst pick.
25:45It's, it's a great exercise, but it's just something again, like you don't have to like the, the, the players per se wicked.
25:51You might want to like the positions though. Right.
25:54Or the strategy. And that's really the, the, the point behind it is like, do you want to go running back, running
26:01back, whatever two running backs you want could have been McCaffrey and, and Hampton could have been cook and Hedrick Henry.
26:07And then how those receivers build out, you know, if that's the way you want to go or quarterback, whatever.
26:13So it's a lot of just, you know, strategy behind it, not necessarily players.
26:17Okay guys. So let's, I'll just talk about my team and takeaways real quick with my squad.
26:22And I started, I had the 10th pick Christian McCaffrey and AJ Brown.
26:26Oh wait, you know what? Before I sit, before I get that, like Jamie did not take Lamar Jackson over Brees Hall.
26:33I just want to point that out. He took Brees Hall around earlier.
26:36I think if anyone takes Christian Watson over Lamar Jackson, I think that's insanity.
26:41I don't absolutely insane. I don't, unless you feel like you can get Joe Burrow or Drake may the next round, or
26:47you love Jaden Daniel or something like that. What do you mean?
26:51That, that, that would have happened though. No, you wouldn't have got, or you could have taken Daniels, but you couldn't know about that.
26:58I don't know how that's insane. I mean, last year, if you correctly predicted and a lot of people did, we were some of them.
27:05I know most of us on this show were some of them that Drake may was the breakout quarterback in fantasy last year.
27:12Go listen to beyond the box score. I'm not, you could always say, you could always make this case, but if you're
27:19just comparing Lamar Jackson and Christian Watson. Yeah. But Adam, if, if Adam, it's positional, it's a difference in scoring between the
27:25position at any point, Lamar Jackson is going to look like the best pick on the board.
27:30That's like the same can be said about every quarterback.
27:33No, every stands of the draft. I wouldn't say that you should draft Lamar Jackson over even Mike Evans or Devante Adams.
27:40Yeah, but you're crazy. Again, if you're making a case that Watson will outscore either of those two, you don't know.
27:46If you're, if you're playing it out though, Adam, only two quarterbacks were taken after I took Lamar Jackson.
27:52So I could have had one of those guys that they still just went like that.
27:57I mean, maybe, or maybe someone else would have said, Oh wow.
28:00I, I don't know. I agree. But, but if, if we're just playing that game, that game doesn't really apply.
28:06We don't know. You know, it's possible that you could, I'm just saying that Lamar Jackson has two seasons of, of super incredible elite production.
28:14Christian Watson has zero. And also any argument you make about taking a quarterback later, it's absolutely true, but there's also plenty
28:20of quarterbacks that we've taken late to break out that haven't worked out.
28:24And there's plenty of wide receivers that do break out that late, like, like Brian Thomas, Jr.
28:29and Matt McConkie two years ago. And like Michael Wilson last year was a league winner.
28:34You know what I mean? It's just, there is again, the, the path to how these guys get there.
28:39Christian Watson and Alec Pierce could be very similar.
28:42They could, but they're not going to be Lamar Jackson.
28:45Exactly. And they're not going to be, Oh, that's why, again, that's why I made the decision that I did.
28:51It was, it was looking at it as Watson, no dunze.
28:54Uh, I don't remember if you put the board up who, who was in consideration or those were the two.
29:00Jamison Williams, I think may, may went in that range also.
29:04Yeah. Marvin Harrison, Brian Thomas, you know, again, looking at how it played out.
29:08Like I like Watson. I don't want to say significantly better than those guys, but better.
29:12But, and it had burned me before previously, because again, when I took Brees Hall, it was like, okay, which of those
29:19receivers burden neighbors, more McLaurin Adams, Evans could still be there for me looking at the way the board was.
29:25Okay. Josh Allen's the only quarterback off the board.
29:28Probably somebody is going to take it. Nobody did.
29:30Yeah. All right. I think you're looking at it a little bit wrong too, Adam.
29:35I think what you're saying is true. Like there's going to be a Michael Wilson for every Trevor Lawrence that there is,
29:41but the reality is it's much easier to identify the Trevor Lawrence than it is the Michael Wilson, because going into the
29:48year, Trevor Lawrence is playing a hundred percent of the snaps.
29:51No, I get it. Michael Wilson. We don't know the role for these guys in the late, the late round wide receiver hits that end up making it.
30:00But, but Dan, even your Drake may example, Drake may average 24 fantasy points per game last year.
30:05That's okay. Great season. Lamar Jackson could average 30.
30:08So it's not the same. You're not finding the same value late.
30:11You know, you're just saying Lamar Jackson is an outlier.
30:14Yes. Okay. Yes, that's fine. I mean, I don't see it that way, but that's fine.
30:19That's just an evaluation thing. So I feel like you're using your own evaluations here.
30:23You don't agree with the Christian Watson evaluation and you don't know.
30:27And you're over skis on the, not saying it's a bad thing on the Lamar thing.
30:32I do like Christian Watson quite a bit. I just, I just don't see how he could go ahead of Lamar Jackson.
30:38I just, no, I think you're both coming at it the right way.
30:42You're, you're talking about one of these special players at a position that if he hits, he's going to be amazing in Lamar Jackson.
30:49And Dan is right. It's easier to target the later round quarterbacks because you can identify the ones that have the chance to get there.
30:57The later on wide receivers have so many different variables that could change how those outcomes.
31:01Agreed. It's a good point. And someone asked, can Lamar Jackson average 30 points per game this year?
31:07Well, he, he scored 33 or more fantasy points in each of his first three games.
31:12Then he had a bad game against Kansas city.
31:14By the way, this is all six point for passing touchdown leagues.
31:18And then he came back against the dolphins and scored 33.6 points.
31:21He scored more than 33 fantasy points in four of his first five games.
31:26One of those games after missing a month. And then he really struggled because he could not run.
31:31He kept hurting his lower body. He had multiple injuries.
31:34So yes, I believe he can now. I'm never going to say he's going to average 30.
31:39That's an insane season, but I believe that I actually think Lamar Jackson has the most upside at the position.
31:45I would take Allen ahead of him, but I think Jackson has the most upside of the position.
31:50Personally. all right. So just quick thought on my team here and really not my team, but just this conundrum.
31:56I really want an early pick this year, an early round one pick.
32:00I don't, I get nervous at the end of round three and I took Zay flowers.
32:05Uh, at, I love your start. Oh, good. I'm glad.
32:08McCaffrey, AJ Brown, Zay flowers, Garrett Wilson. You know, it's funny.
32:11Zay flowers and AJ Brown averaged the same amount of fantasy points per game last year.
32:16I love that. I took Brown in round two.
32:19I'm slightly nervous that I took flowers around three.
32:21Um, and then I took Garrett Wilson around four and I'm just, I haven't quite nailed down who I love in that range.
32:28Um, assuming Kyron Williams is off the board, which he was, I don't think there's a running back.
32:34I love there. Look at Javante Williams, Travis, H and Brees hall like them.
32:38Don't love them. They're wide receivers that I would love at the end of round three, beginning of round four.
32:44I would, I don't think a lobby is going to make it there.
32:47If Devante Smith or T Higgins or a Mecca, a booka had made it there.
32:52Those are automatic picks to me. None of them made it there.
32:56So they are on ADP. Exactly. ADP tells me I could probably get Devante Smith, T Higgins or a Mecca, booka.
33:02So that's the other thing. Like Josh Allen hadn't come off the board yet.
33:06Um, if you have a league that's drafting three quarterbacks in the first 30 picks or something, then this could be better.
33:13But I don't know, man, I just see a lot of risk with, with flowers and Wilson, um, with McConkie, with Ted row, McMillan, Jalen Waddle, Luther burden.
33:21I had a tough time, Jamie deciding which wide receiver to go there.
33:25I didn't have a ton of conviction in those picks of flowers and Wilson in rounds three and four.
33:30Uh, what's your advice for people picking late in the round?
33:34Well, I guess just to tie in one of the early stories, would you take a neighbors there now?
33:39Not, it's not where I took flowers, but yes, not flowers.
33:43Yes. I would have taken neighbors probably. So I think that's the, that's the perfect strategy.
33:47And I think Wilson qualifies as well. Any of the receivers really in this range qualify.
33:52Like if you're going for this build, especially seeing how quarterbacks are playing it out, like what I probably would have done instead of what you did.
34:00And, and really it's kind of a similar conversation to the quarterback, you know, taking Lamar Jackson was I, I don't, I
34:07don't know if tootin is the right route to go there as opposed to maybe that would have, you know, just to
34:13guarantee yourself the quarterback, if you would have taken him, you know, there, cause you didn't know if you're going to get
34:20mayor Burrow cause two of the other guys could have taken him.
34:23Yeah. Well, so student just for people who are not watching tootin was my fifth round pick.
34:28I went McCaffrey and three receivers, AJ Brown's a flowers, Garrett Wilson didn't have a running back.
34:34And it's getting pretty lean at running back, Bucky Irving at the Andre Swifter off the board.
34:39So I took Bejal Tootin. The next running backs were Travion Pollard, Jadarian price, Jalen Warren.
34:43Again, I didn't love, I didn't love the Tootin pick.
34:46And then I took Drake may, but yeah, but what I'm getting at is like, it's kind of similar to what I
34:53did where it was like, Oh, there's a bunch of receivers that are good, but not necessarily guaranteed production.
34:59Like you're taking some swings, which are good swings, but we'll just see how it plays out.
35:04Like I would have probably just taken the quarterback there and then see which of Tootin, Henderson, Pollard, you know, whatever those
35:10guys fall back to me just to guarantee myself the quarterback.
35:13It worked out in your favor. And again, you had only two other managers to worry about there, but still both of those guys take quarterbacks.
35:21Then you're going into that next tier, which is maybe Jalen hurts, maybe Jane, you know, like if you like those guys, great.
35:28I do. But you know, I think just the, the guaranteed production, that's probably the route I would have gone.
35:34But I, I think just in the way that you started this build, you're a big AJ Brown guy.
35:40I think that was a great pick in round two.
35:43To me, flowers is almost a steal at the end of round three, especially when we're not drafting with Heath.
35:49But you're getting, I think a good player at that spot.
35:52That's where he should go. Garrett Wilson and that group of wide receivers.
35:56I think you had the right build there. Would you have taken Loveland if he was still available?
36:01Cause he went right. One pick. Yeah. I think I would have taken Loveland ahead of Wilson, but not in round three.
36:08Loveland around three is a little bit. He's got to go flowers there or receiver there.
36:12Yeah. I'm just trying to figure out. You would have felt more comfortable if it was Kyron still on the board.
36:19Yeah. I'm just trying to figure out which receivers I love there.
36:22And I love, I love Higgins, Abuka and Devante Smith there.
36:25They were all gone. So if those guys are available, it's not an issue.
36:30When we get to Zay flowers, McMillan, McConkie, Garrett Wilson, Jalen Waddle, Luther Burden, Malik neighbors, it's going to be, it's going to be tough.
36:37And honestly, I think my issue is like, I kind of want to go off the board and draft Mike Evans or
36:44Devante Adams there, but there's, that's so far ahead of their ADP that over who Garrett Wilson over.
36:49Yeah. Over Garrett Wilson, over. Yeah. I have him ranked over.
36:52I have both of them ranked over Garrett Wilson and would take both of them over Garrett Wilson.
36:58Garrett Wilson has been a top 12 receiver in the first six games of the year, two straight years.
37:03And what happened two years ago, they traded for Devante Adams.
37:07So it happened last year. He got hurt, played one game and had like no fantasy points, killed his average.
37:13So I don't want to totally discredit him. But Jamie, who are the wide receivers?
37:17If a Buka, Devante Smith, Higgins and Olave are off the board, who are the wide receivers you love there?
37:23Love would be McConkie. Burden. Flowers. Oh, I'm sorry.
37:26Flowers still available. Yeah. Flowers would be the, I put flowers in the, in the previous group.
37:31So Smith, Higgins, Abuka, Flowers to me are all kind of in the same category.
37:35Then it, then it did. That's where like the, the first real blob comes into play.
37:40So for me, it would be McConkie Wilson. I'm just going in order the way they're drafted, but McConkie Wilson, Waddle, Burden, neighbors, more.
37:47All right. I want to just show this research that hopefully makes some sense.
37:51So I said 30 to 50 earlier. Go back to the board for a second.
37:56All right. I'll remove that. Hold on. Yeah. That's him.
37:59I want to make one quick point. Um, one takeaway.
38:02We got to, can I, all right, after this, we'll go to a break.
38:06Go ahead. I am typically the type of drafter that would love your build, Adam.
38:10When I'm in a PPR league with three wide receivers, I am looking to start with three of my first four picks wide receivers.
38:17And then last year happened and running backs were all the rage for good reason.
38:22Hey, they stayed healthy, which may not happen again, but B they just scored.
38:26As I look at the board, looking in the range where you got to and Hubbard and the running backs, you got,
38:33and the receivers, you could have gotten instead. And then the range where you got Brown flowers and Wilson, the running backs should have gotten instead.
38:40I have a clear feeling that in these snake drafts, I do with you guys, I'm going to be going running back heavy early.
38:48Cause I actually think the running backs are the picks in the range of the Brown flowers, Wilson versus like, can I get tootin or Evans?
38:55Can I get Hubbard or Josh downs, Quentin Johnson?
38:58And I think at that range of the draft, the running backs are terrible compared to the wide receivers at the top of the range of draft.
39:06I'd rather Ken Walker than AJ Brown. I'd rather whoever it is, Kyron Williams or Javante Williams and Zay flowers.
39:12And also these options. I did have the option of Ken Walker versus AJ Brown, but I did not have the option of Kyron Williams versus a flowers.
39:20I'm just using examples here, but you also had Javante instead of, I did not have Mike Evans or Basil tootin.
39:27Evans was off the board. I'm not, I'm not knocking.
39:30But you had, you did have, you did have Jante Walker, Hampton Barkley.
39:33I didn't want to, yeah, I didn't want to start running back, running back in a three receiver league.
39:39Nobody does. And I get that. And I never do.
39:42I just think this is an interesting year. I think the value is running backs early and the value is receivers later.
39:49Maybe that's a good point. I mean, again, just to Dan's point, like if it worked, you know, take hall off the, or forget, keep hall there.
39:57Like Mike Evans makes it one more pick and I am, let's play this league out for a billion dollars.
40:03Right. You're saying if you, if Mike Evans had fallen to you in round five, you took Lamar Jackson, one pick after
40:09Evans, you would have been very happy about that.
40:12Yeah. If I would have started Taylor Walker, Abuka, Hall, Evans.
40:15That's the thing. I think that five is better than the five you're going to get going receiver early, but it's a PPR league.
40:22That's the problem. So I get both ways and it's hard to go running back heavy in a PPR league.
40:28But even to your, to the way you started talking about your team, Adam, I almost think if you do want to
40:35go the way Dan is going, and even the way that I started, just forget about how it sort of took a little bit of a different turn.
40:43Picking at the back end of round one is fantastic.
40:46Yeah. Yeah. I hate the back end. If you, if you, cause McCaffrey, McCaffrey is probably going to go sooner than he
40:53went here based on B, which will, and James Cook's not going to go this high.
40:57So let's just switch those two players. Um, HN is a wild card cause he can go, I think anywhere from 12
41:04to, you know, 15, eight to 18. Um, but I think if you do want to go running back, running back, you
41:10could have some start of Taylor cook, McCaffrey, and then round two of HN Brown, Gentty Walker Hampton.
41:16And then you're still looking at, I think three are very good receivers because again, what ADP is telling us, you'll still
41:22be in the range of Smith, Higgins, a Buka.
41:25And then that still puts you in the, in the potential of whoever you like, their neighbors, Evans, all those guys.
41:31Like, I think it could be fantastic. So I could have saved 10 minutes of time and just said, let's do a
41:38mock draft and figure out which wide receivers. If you, if you're picking in rounds, three and four kind of near the
41:44turn, which ones do you really like? And if you think you can get two of them, then that should influence your draft strategy.
41:52I was going to show all this research about which wide receivers have come out of the 30 to 48 range.
41:58It's kind of difficult to see the ones in red or busts.
42:01The ones in green are hits. Um, there were only five wide receivers, 30 to 48 and ADP on fantasy pros in 2023.
42:08There were 10 or 11 each of the last two years, more red than green.
42:13I think you'll notice. So when I go back to last year, JSN and obvious hit, um, Devante Adams and obvious hit,
42:19uh, what you're looking at these numbers are where they finished per game, uh, where they finished, where they finished overall, where
42:26they finished per game and where their offense ranked.
42:28So JSN was wide receiver two overall, wide receiver two per game and eighth best offense.
42:33Um, but I guess my, what I came away with this is that there is no profile that over the last three
42:40years that would suggest this is the type of player.
42:43For example, lab McConkie versus Garrett Wilson. The chargers offense is going to be so much better than the jets, but Keenan
42:49Allen three years ago was wide receiver three per game on the 20th best office.
42:54Malik neighbors two years ago was wide receiver eight per game on the 31st ranked offense.
42:59Garrett Wilson last year, he technically was wide receiver 15 per game, but again, top 12 in his healthy games, they were
43:0529th in offense and they sucked when he was on the field.
43:09So I'm just saying like, there's no, there's no profile of this is the type of player you should target there.
43:15Sometimes I do research and I come up with this to me, like great conclusion.
43:19Sometimes there's no conclusion and that is helpful too, because it means you shouldn't just eliminate a player.
43:25Cause you're always on a bad offense. All right, let's take a break and read some emails.
43:30I only have about 13 minutes left. I'm sorry.
43:33So we'll go through the emails quickly. We'll be back after this on fantasy football today.
43:37All right. This email is from start with Tom in Chicago.
43:41All right. He says, dear Robert, Ben, Lewis, Val, Adam, George, Michael, and Christian.
43:45No help Dan out. Dear Robert. Sorry. One more time.
43:48Robert, Ben, Lewis, Val, Adam, George, Batman. Yeah. Let's see.
43:51Why is, I think this is a comment about Jamie's rankings.
43:54Why is Devon HN ranked 11th? Oh, wait, no, it's not.
43:57It's about Jamie. He agrees with Jamie. Um, why is Devon HN ranked 11th overall on an expected crappy offense with a
44:04Russian quarterback when Hampton, Barkley, Henry, and Walker are ranked lower?
44:07Why is AJ Brown ranked wide receiver 11 behind number two options like, like George Pickens and players on a lesser offense like Collins and London?
44:15Is he not expected to score touchdowns? So basically, uh, Jamie thinks Jamie, Tom thinks that the industry is too high on
44:21HN and too low on AJ Brown. I mean, I would agree.
44:25I, I, I think when it comes to a chance scenario, you know, we've had running backs on bad teams perform very well.
44:32Brees Hall did it with the jets. I believe his second season, uh, Christian McCaffrey has done it with the Panthers.
44:38Like there's players that can overcome terrible scenarios, but again, numbers are numbers and they tell us stories and to a tongue
44:45of Iloa, 25 games with Devon HN the last two years, he averaged 21 and a half PPR game, PPR points per
44:51game, eight games for HN without Tua. He averaged 10.5 PPR points per game.
44:55That's glaring to me. So I don't think he's going to be that bad.
44:59And obviously the backup quarterbacks that replaced Tua in those eight games don't have as much upside as Malik Willis running quarterbacks,
45:0610 open running lanes, but you know what they're facing.
45:09They're facing a situation of a lot of stack boxes to stop the run.
45:13Most teams will try and stop the run. When you have a receiving core like Miami's, you may see every defender in
45:20the box trying to just take away what they do, um, and make them just beat you over the top.
45:26So I just don't think it's going to be a great situation for HN.
45:30We know when teams have low expected win totals that correlates to touchdowns, points scored points against.
45:35I don't think they're going to win very many games.
45:38They're projected win totals, four and a half. Uh, the passing numbers are really scary for me, you know, again, to a
45:44top two in target rate to running backs over the last two years, Malik Willis last in that category.
45:50The last two years, it's just a lot of things stacking up against them.
45:54In the case of AJ Brown, I'll go, you know, I say this a lot, the six game stretch, I should have
46:01it, you know, fully, but the six game stretch where he averaged over 19 PPR points per game, it was like week
46:07nine through week 16, um, missed a game in there.
46:10But, um, that still speaks to what he's capable of doing.
46:14And I think Drake may, what he got out of Stefan digs last year compared to two players, like it's night and day.
46:20So I think AJ Brown's got a chance to, you know, compete to be a top five wide receiver this season.
46:27All right. Next question is from Mike. What do you think Dan, I'll give us to you.
46:32What do you think about pairing Patrick Mahomes with Kyler Murray?
46:35I love it. I think that's a great strategy for this year in fantasy football.
46:40Um, and it kind of goes to what we were talking about before, like Mar Jackson, he's staring at you around six.
46:46It seems amazing. I get it. He can score all these points, but you wait, you keep piling up running backs and
46:53receivers and look at what you might be able to Frankenstein out at quarterback with these two playing the matchups.
46:59Um, obviously Kyler would have to win the job and keep the job, but I have Kyler ranked obnoxiously and almost irresponsibly
47:05high in my rankings after looking into a bunch of things and doing my rankings and mostly based on how easy that Viking schedule is going to be.
47:13And some of the comments from Kevin O'Connell recently about wanting to get back to being a pass first offense, which I think is really important.
47:21Um, so I love it. And my homes, it's more of just like, this is the cheapest you'll look at him in his career.
47:28I don't like, I want to be in on the homes this year at his ADP for sure.
47:34Cause it's like, what the heck are we doing here?
47:37QB 15 is he or whatever? And ADP was he 15 or 16 or lower even?
47:41Uh, I thought it was like, yeah, he's no, I don't think he's lower than that.
47:46I'll tell you in a second. He's pretty low.
47:49Um, but the issue for 14. Yeah. So it's like crazy.
47:52Like we've never gotten my homes at this price.
47:55It's unreal. The same time though, like one, I don't expect him to run as much, which kind of saved his fantasy
48:01value last year, the running, which when you dig into the numbers was what saved it.
48:06And then two, it's, it didn't really add any actual receiving weapons or talent to get me excited about that offense.
48:12So I, it almost feels a little trappy there, but obviously with Murray, it's fine.
48:17Question from the chat, Dan, which character in the story is Frankenstein?
48:20What does that mean? Who's Frankenstein? What are you talking about?
48:24Who is Frankenstein in this, in Frankenstein? Yeah. Who is Frankenstein?
48:27I don't know. He's the guy they did the experiment on and he became Frankenstein.
48:31I think I know this. You don't know it.
48:34He's the doctor. Oh, the doctor. Okay. I don't know Frankenstein.
48:37Oh God. How could I not know Frankenstein lore?
48:40Common misconception. Uh, this is from Eric Whedon. Just finished.
48:43Today's episode had some thoughts on the Jerry Maguire debate.
48:46Jerry Maguire is a sports movie as much as diehard is a Christmas movie, which is to say not at all.
48:52Jerry Maguire is a movie with football as a backdrop, just like diehard just happens to take place on Christmas Eve, not plot driving.
48:59So almost definitionally not sports or Christmas movies respectively.
49:02Now that, okay. I'm not here for that part of the email.
49:06This is the part I'm here about. Jamie's bad faith argument of naming the extras who play football players made me think,
49:12is the dark night rises a football movie to a big scene takes place in a football stadium where Ben Roethlisberger plays the quarterback for the Gotham road.
49:21Does Ben Roethlisberger? I thought, I know Heinz Ward was in it.
49:24I don't know if Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger is in the, uh, when they're doing the national anthem.
49:29Oh, okay. Yeah. So yeah, dark night rises clearly then a football movie.
49:33Heinz Ward and Ben Roethlisberger are in it and there's a scene in a football stadium.
49:38No, no, no, not even close. Of course it is.
49:41No, you can have things in a movie that still don't represent what the movie is.
49:46And my heart is 100% of Chris will be when the writer of the movie told us that cares about him.
49:52No, that is actually defining you that after that, you should have admitted you were wrong.
49:57It was a really, it's, it says a lot about you, Adam.
50:00And I really have to reconsider parts of our friendship that you didn't admit you were wrong after the literal person who
50:07created the movie said it was a Christmas movie.
50:09But beyond that, as we move forward to Jerry Maguire, it's a movie about a sports agent, a sports agent.
50:15Yeah. Falling in love. It's that it has, there's no sports in it.
50:19Sports agent. Oh, you're so simple. You're so basic, bro.
50:22Um, now if the only thing in the movie was like him playing cash with the kid, like if that was the
50:29only sports part of it and it was a love story, like you contend it is, then you're wrong.
50:34But what, when you look it up, what's the first thing that, that pops up?
50:39You sent us this, I don't know. Don't listen to this stupid Gemini.
50:43I don't know anything. What's the first word? I don't, I don't, it's probably the Jerry sports sports.
50:48All right. From what this email is from Weston.
50:51Who wrote Jerry Maguire? I'm going to, I'm going to get him on the show.
50:55Is it Cameron Crowe? We're going to get him on the show.
50:59You talk about how in three receiver leagues, there's a higher premium on receiver.
51:03Does that change for two receiver, two flex formats?
51:06What would the best strategy be in a two receiver, two flex format?
51:10Typically, like almost a three receiver league, you know, so you still want to try and get in my, in my view, receivers still matter a ton.
51:18And once you get past the high end running back.
51:21So I, I would still treat it as try and get a receiver in one of those spots, if not both those
51:27spots, again, depending on how you draft, you know, especially after I just took three running backs for one to be my
51:34flex, but I consider Brees all a high end, you know, elite type player.
51:38Um, yeah, I would just lean wide receiver, I guess would be the answer.
51:42Okay. What about it? It's half PPR, two flex.
51:45Then I think just best player available. Okay. From, Oh, by the way, I'm not sure if I guess it's always best player available.
51:52I guess just, I would lean toward, I wouldn't, I wouldn't necessarily say you have to pigeonhole yourself into trying to get one of those specific positions.
52:00I don't know if I said who wrote the email about Jerry McGuire, but it was, there we go.
52:06Yeah. Now an email from Charles. Charles says, Matthew Stafford is historically a target funnel who has generated elite wide receiver production.
52:12What is the mean median outcome for Stafford's wide receiver two over his career?
52:16Uh, this is in relation to Devante Adams. So I looked at just his career with the Rams in 2021, Cooper cup
52:23was wide receiver one and Robert Woods was wide receiver 19 per game, but he did have 46 yards and a touchdown rushing in 2022.
52:30That was kind of a mess. Matthew Stafford played nine games.
52:34Cooper cup was great, but no other player did anything 2023.
52:37You had Puka Nakua wide receiver six per game and Cooper cup wide receiver 24 per game.
52:42And that included a game where he played 27% of the snaps and scored two fantasy points.
52:472024 pretty, pretty much the same. Puka Nakua wide receiver four per game and Cooper cup wide receiver 23 per game.
52:53And another game where he left fairly early. And last year wide receiver one per game, it was Puka and Adams was wide receiver nine per game.
53:01So based on this, you got four out of five seasons where the number two receiver finished 24th or better per game.
53:08And that's basically exactly Adams ADP. Yeah. Kind of interesting, right?
53:11Very interesting. Then here's one on Zay flowers in the same email from Charles flowers had 1200 yards in a season where
53:18receivers caught less yards and they, than they have in recent years.
53:21Right. It was a really bad year for wide receiver twos.
53:25Um, do you value flowers production more or anyone's production more in that, for that matter, if they did it in a year where few others succeeded.
53:33So, you know, I could go either way on that, Dan, because yeah, it is impressive in this environment, especially on a
53:39run heavy team that flowers was able to score 14.7 points per game.
53:43However, that made him wide receiver 12 per game.
53:46If he does that again and wide receivers bounce back, he's going to be more like wide receiver 24.
53:51Right. And then we're overdrafting him. Yeah. Flowers is an interesting one.
53:55They just said yesterday, we, we heard that comment you brought up at the top of the show.
54:00They want to design more play. They already got him the ball a lot.
54:04I don't need more touches. I need more touchdowns from Zay flowers.
54:08And that's the bigger, more critical question. Like, will that ever come?
54:12What's the number that you make, you would make you feel comfortable taking him in round three out of eight, eight.
54:18Yeah. Eight touchdowns. And he's a great pick in round three.
54:21He's what does he top that at like five?
54:24Yep. Yeah. Eight touchdowns for sure. I look at the way.
54:27It's so funny how we, we, we think like eight is such a hard number to get to, but it really is for some of these players.
54:35And it's also goes to show why players like Adams and Evans are great values because you can, they're probably going to score a lot of touchdown guys.
54:43And that really defines the game in a lot of ways.
54:47They don't have to do much else. Adams. I said this yesterday.
54:50I think I'm beyond the box or with David.
54:53Do you know what Devante Adams points per game was last year?
54:57Like 17. No, no, no. What wide receiver rank.
54:59Nine. And if you look at every game lock, he barely got targets and barely caught the ball.
55:05No, that's not true. He's got a lot of targets.
55:08Go look at it. He got a lot. He had 114 targets in 14.
55:12I'm about to go. No, I'm about 114 targets.
55:14It's not a lot. 14 games. He's on pace for 134 targets.
55:18I think that's a lot. That's not a crazy number to finish wide receiver nine.
55:22And that's a great number for a second guy.
55:25And it's a great number in that offense. I mean, it's, can I go over something with you as far as yards goes?
55:32Oh yeah. I know he, he was pretty, his, he was ninth overall in points per game with 51, 56, 56, 88, 39, 35, 60, 77.
55:40He was 34 in receptions. Right. He's yards. He had 17, 189 yards receiving.
55:44Well, I mean, listen, any, any time you can say that that's the one stat we have the most difficult time predicting,
55:50which is why people hate it or a handful of players that you know, have the opportunity to be very good at doing that.
55:58How many times are you worried about Adams is, is where does he win or lose this year?
56:03Does he win in his catches and yards coming up?
56:06Because he's not going to score 14 again. Again, I think you can pencil in eight and hope for 10, but I don't think we're getting 14.
56:14I think you can pencil in 10 and hope for 14.
56:17Yeah, that's tough. Why not? Well, I think Dan, the argument against what you're saying with Adams is that people would go,
56:24well, he had a career low catch rate. He only was on pace for 958 yards.
56:29He's 33 years old. He's declining. I didn't really see it that way.
56:32I thought he got open very well. So did fantasy points, data suite.
56:36So did ESPN's analytics. And he had the highest percentage of off target, target throws in his career, I believe.
56:42So I think there's room for more, a much better catch rate.
56:46And then what was that stat I gave? Like 86% of wide receivers in the last decade who have caught eight or
56:52more touchdowns have finished top 24 per game. So if he scores eight or more touchdowns, which you just said, he's probably going to do.
57:00He's almost a lock to be top 24. He's 80 P.
57:03Right. He is 24th right around there. You also have what could be one of the most suffocating defenses in the league.
57:10Yes. And that's true. Not that that takes away from the office.
57:13I think that's a stupid argument on principle because they're still going to want to score points, but they just may not have to.
57:20Yeah. I think that's worse for the yards than the, than the touchdowns upside when you have a great defense.
57:26All right. Let me ask you a few keeper questions to end today's show.
57:30This is from Charles Chris Olave in the fifth or Tucker craft in the 10th PPR.
57:35Olave for me. Olave. This is from Richard. Which of these four players would you keep?
57:40There's no penalty to keep them. So I think you're just keeping one.
57:44It's two points for a reception. One point per carry and a hundred yards for a bonus at a hundred yards rushing
57:50or, and or receiving, but it's only one point for 20 rushing yards.
57:54So again, two, there's four running backs here. Interesting.
57:57Two points per reception. One point for carry bonus at a hundred yards rushing and or receiving and one point for every 20 yards.
58:04Are you keeping Bucky Irving? Kyron Williams, Travis H.
58:07And or Bejal Tootin? Kyron. Yeah. I still think it's Kyron.
58:10In that format. I hope so. It's just, I don't know how many catches or carries he's going to get.
58:16That's a problem for that. Obviously. But there, I like that what Jamie was talking about with their dominant defense.
58:22If aren't Aaron O'Donnell comes back, I'd like that for Kyron.
58:25This is from Tim. This is from Tim. That will determine how many wide receivers are potentially still available for you.
58:32Because you come back to round two, you still can get a really good wide receiver.
58:36And then you have those three running backs, but see what, how it plays out.
58:41I think a case could be made that Jason Puga could be just as good a pick as any of those guys.
58:47Specifically, Bijan. James in DC, three receiver league with a flex.
58:51Keep two. Abuka in the fifth, Pickens in the sixth, Javante in the eleventh, Tootin in the eleventh.
58:56Ooh. Go Cowboys. You didn't have to read that.
58:59I mean, this is, no, it's, that's the answer.
59:01It's Pickens in the sixth, Javante in the eleventh, or Abuka in the fifth.
59:05Obviously we're going to keep Pickens. Javante in the eleventh, yeah.
59:09And Tootin in the eleventh. I think it's, yeah, it is Pickens and Javante.
59:13Value wise. I would go Abuka and Javante. And I'm fine with that.
59:17I'm sorry, Pickens is after Buka? Yeah, Pickens is later.
59:20Oh no, Pickens is cheaper than Abuka. Oh yeah, Pickens and Javante.
59:23Yep. I'm sorry, Dan, I didn't want to say go Cowboys.
59:27Yeah, well you did. James in DC also says, shout out to my home league commissioner, who's a long time listener of
59:33the podcast and goes out of his way to make videos and even a league trophy to keep everyone engaged and having fun.
59:40Nice. That's awesome. That's awesome. Well, that's it for today's show.
59:43We're going to talk to you on Monday and position previews are starting late next week.
59:48So, that's awesome. Dan, what are your stupid weekend plans?
59:51Um, what is this? I'm going to a kids party type thing on Saturday.
59:55So, I'll be one of the only non-dads there.
59:58So, that'll be fun. Wait, does this just gonna show up?
60:01No, it's like my friend's kids party. I gotcha.
60:04Um, no, it's like all the friends. Anyway, we'll be doing that.
60:07And then Sunday, I don't know. I don't have any plans yet for Sunday.
60:12You want to go play some tennis? I'm too injured, man.
60:15I got to get healthy. Are you really that injured?
60:18I can barely walk today. Wow. After signs of you in your six, four getting four games, some signs of you trending up.
60:25Yeah. Are you just doing this as mental warfare?
60:27It's like a reverse psychology. It really sucks. I'm not gonna be able to really train for this.
60:33How's your shoulder? Mine? Yeah. From the. that's fine.
60:35Oh my God. I had a shoulder thing. Shoulders fine.
60:38This guy's just injured, injured and sick. 90% of his life.
60:42So I can never leave the house. He's the boy in the bubble.
60:46All right. We're about to go leave the house now.
60:49We'll talk to you next week. Have a great weekend, everybody.
