Jalen Daniels is listed as limited on the injury report with a new brace and may play this week against Green Bay. The source expresses uncertainty about his availability and suggests waiting another week before playing him in the London game, indicating caution about his readiness despite the new brace.NegativeProjectionSep 30, 2026
Jalen Daniels, an undrafted free agent who earned the backup quarterback role in training camp, is taking over for Baker Mayfield (dislocated thumb, out 3+ weeks). The speaker notes Daniels has a live arm, is willing to stand in the pocket and deliver, works over the middle of the field, and has been praised by analysts like Nate Tice and Greg Cosell (who called him his favorite player in the draft). However, there's only about a one-in-ten chance he provides a meaningful spark given the historical rarity of undrafted free agent rookie quarterbacks succeeding. The Buccaneers face the Green Bay Packers this week, a struggling defense that could provide an opportunity for Daniels to generate some offensive flow.PositiveProjectionSep 29, 2026
Undrafted free agent who earned the backup quarterback job in camp; Baker Mayfield out at least three weeks with a dislocated thumb. Devon A-chan reviewed Daniels' preseason tape and noted a strong arm, pocket presence, and ability to throw tight windows over the middle of the field. Baker has been "horrible," and Daniels presents upside in Superflex leagues where new starting quarterbacks can surprise; Devon A-chan is "slightly intrigued" by the potential improvement.NegativeRoleSep 29, 2026
Jalen Daniels, an undrafted free agent, earned the backup quarterback role in camp—an uncommon achievement—and is now the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after Baker Mayfield suffered a dislocated thumb that will sideline him at least three weeks, possibly longer. Devon A-chan notes Daniels has a strong arm and will stand in the pocket to deliver from preseason tape.NegativeMatchupSep 28, 2026
The source speculates that the Packers defense in Week 4 might make Jalen Daniels 'look like the new young mobile athletic quarterback across the league,' suggesting potential for a strong performance against Green Bay's defense.
