Player insights

39

Alec Pierce

PositiveInjury48:40

Suffered injury last week; his absence opens 36% target share for Josh Downs.

Insight page

Alvin Kamara

NegativeUsage35:53

Kendall V. expresses confusion about Alvin Kamara's usage in the Saints offense. Through two games, Kamara has seen a 33% rush share, which Kendall notes is not sustainable for the rest of the season. Kendall has too many questions about whether to pick him up and advises against it. The usage pattern doesn't make sense given the Saints' offensive scheme and Kellen Moore's typical approach.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

NegativeProjection27:34

Matthew Berry rates Baker Mayfield as QB20 this week—a significant downgrade. While Berry loves Mayfield personally and respects his character, the matchup against Minnesota's elite defense is brutal. The Vikings allow the lowest completion rate to opposing QBs through two weeks. Flores brings constant pressure (72% blitz rate vs. Jordan Love week one, 78% vs. Caleb Williams week two). Mayfield ranks 26th in yards per pass attempt through two weeks and didn't look good against Cleveland. Berry is nervous about Mayfield and recommends looking elsewhere even with QB injuries.

Insight page

Brock Purdy

PositiveProjection17:30

Matthew Berry ranks Brock Purdy as a top-three QB play for Week 3 against Arizona. The 49ers offense is rolling with an implied team total of 28 points (third-highest on the slate). The Cardinals secondary is bottom-eight in yards per pass attempt and touchdown rate allowed through two weeks; cornerback Will Johnson is now on IR, leaving Arizona with one of the league's worst secondaries. Purdy is locked in, leading the league in QBR and completion percentage, and is one of five QBs to score 20+ fantasy points in each of the first two weeks. Kendall Valenzuela has him as QB4.

Insight page
PositiveProjection19:15

Matthew Berry has Brock Purdy as a top three QB play; Kendall V. rates him QB4 at FantasyLife.com. Purdy leads the league in total QBR, completion percentage, and off-target percentage; one of five QBs to score 20+ fantasy points in each of the first two weeks. Berry notes Purdy gets no respect for his rushing production—he generates more points with his legs than commonly credited. Despite the 49ers traveling extensively, Berry emphasizes Purdy's elite play transcends travel concerns.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection14:00

Bryce Young is playing well for the Panthers, who are 1-0-1 and looking good. Matthew Berry notes Young is "chucking it all over the place" and Kendall Valenzuela adds that Young looks good and the Panthers have done a good job giving him the opportunity to become this version of himself. The team is described as "plucky" and not like the Panthers of old, with Young's performance being a key part of the team's success.

Insight page
PositiveProjection26:48

Kendall V. rates Bryce Young as QB15 and a viable streamer playing at Cleveland. The Browns allow passing TDs at the fourth-highest rate through two weeks and are missing Miles Garrett and Jim Schwartz's defensive play-calling. The Panthers rank top-five in pass rate over expectation, letting Bryce cook. With a thin running back room outside Chuba Hubbard, the Panthers will lean on Young's arm.

Insight page

Caleb Douglas

NegativeInjury51:40

Dealing with ankle injury; didn't practice on Wednesday; impacts Malik Washington's role and upside.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveProjection30:00

Matthew Berry rates Chase Brown as RB8 this week. Brown was on Berry's preseason love list and ride-or-die finalist list. His utilization is off the charts: at least 20 touches and 15% target share in both games so far, ranking top-seven in utilization score. Berry is not scared of the Pittsburgh Steelers defense (allowing fifth-most rushing yards per game, though skewed by one big run to Travian Henderson). The Bengals offense ranks among the best in the NFL and will be in scoring position often. Berry expects the Bengals to lean run-heavy on the road.

Insight page

Chris Olave

PositiveProjection40:57

Ranked WR5 this week; 10+ targets in both games; 53% of team air yards; 14.8 average depth of target; Raiders allow league-leading 18.7 yards per reception to opposing wide receivers; massive target share and deep-ball volume against a defense that gives up deep passes.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveProjection44:02

Ranked WR12 this week; WR8 in utilization score through two weeks; since Week 11 of last season, ninth-best WR in fantasy on points-per-game basis; no longer just go-ball routes—expanded route tree with intermediate routes and Z-position usage; Jaden Reed injury opens more volume; borderline WR1 when healthy; Packers expected to throw more due to weak ground game.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

PositiveRole11:00

With Jonathan Brooks out 6+ weeks due to core muscle surgery, Chuba Hubbard takes over as the featured back for the Panthers. Through two weeks, Hubbard ranks 14th in utilization score and Matthew Berry has him at RB16. Hubbard has been effective and is averaging 19.1 points per game. Berry expects Hubbard to take the job and run with it, even if Brooks returns in Week 7-8, as the Panthers (1-0-1) look good with Bryce Young playing well. Hubbard should have a big workload going forward.

Insight page

Dalton Schultz

PositiveProjection46:00

Ranked TE9 this week; Colts allow fourth-most yards to opposing tight ends; Nico Collins out last week and Schultz had monster game; still second-best pass catcher on Texans even if Collins returns; catch-and-fall tight end with reliable production and trust from C.J. Stroud; similar performance to last week's 25-28 fantasy points possible.

Insight page

David Montgomery

PositiveProjection32:39

Kendall V. rates David Montgomery inside the top 20 RBs this week. The Colts allow the second-most rushing yards per game to opposing running backs this year. With Nico Collins out, Montgomery should see a heavy workload. The Colts are giving up over 5 yards per carry so far this season.

Insight page

David Njoku

NegativeInjury52:40

Banged up; impacts Rondae Gadsden's opportunity at tight end for Chargers.

Insight page

Drew Lock

PositiveProjection55:20

Preferred streaming option after this week over Marcus Mariota; may get Sam Darnold back in game.

Insight page

Emmett Johnson

PositiveSleeper24:49

Matthew Berry recommends Emmitt Johnson must be rostered in 100% of leagues as a handcuff to Kenneth Walker. Johnson looks great and resembles a Kenneth Walker clone in many aspects. Berry pairs Johnson with Walker everywhere in his lineups, viewing him as essential insurance given Walker's injury history.

Insight page

Geno Smith

NegativeProjection55:20

Not preferred as streaming option for next two weeks; alternative to Marcus Mariota.

Insight page

Jalen Coker

PositiveProjection47:30

Ranked WR12 this week; 27% target share (top 12 among WRs); Cleveland has allowed four touchdowns to opposing WRs (tied for most in NFL); Matthew Berry enthusiastically endorses with 'Coke heads unite' branding; accumulating targets and fantasy points early in season.

Insight page

Jameis Winston

PositiveProjection55:20

Expected to have a good game with full week of practice against Titans; viable streaming option.

Insight page

Jared Goff

PositiveMatchup25:27

Kendall V. likes Jared Goff against the Jets as a QB receiving votes. Goff has multiple touchdown passes in seven of his last nine home games. The Jets rank bottom-10 in pressure rate this season, allowing Goff a clean pocket to pick them apart at home.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

NegativeInjury44:02

Injury status uncertain; conversation centers on whether he even returns for the year; his injury opens more volume for Christian Watson and other Packers receivers.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

PositiveProjection33:13

Kendall V. rates Jalen Warren as RB24 this week. Rico Dotson did not practice Wednesday and was wearing a boot on his right foot, likely to miss the game or be limited. Since the start of last season, when Jalen Warren gets at least 15 touches (expected this week against Cincinnati), he averages almost 15 fantasy points per game (14.8 to be exact).

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

NegativeInjury11:00

Panthers RB Jonathan Brooks is expected to have surgery to repair a core muscle injury and will land on injured reserve for at least six weeks. In the last three seasons since being drafted in 2024, Brooks has played only five games. Kendall Valenzuela notes he has not yet been great in the NFL. Matthew Berry recommends dropping Brooks in leagues without an IR spot, as he will miss two months and there are other injured players (like Nico Collins) who may be better IR stashes. Even when Brooks returns in Week 7-8, he will need time to prove himself before being fantasy-relevant again.

Insight page

Jordan Love

PositiveProjection26:05

Kendall V. likes Jordan Love in Thursday night against the Falcons. Teams facing Atlanta average over 38 pass attempts per game. Green Bay has one of the higher implied team totals at 24 points, and Kendall notes Atlanta has a pretty good run defense, so the Packers will "let Jordan Love cook." Kendall recommends stacking Love with Watson and Golden.

Insight page

Josh Downs

PositiveProjection48:40

36% target share after Alec Pierce injury last week; running 40%+ of routes from perimeter (no longer just slot); Texans have strong corners but slot is the place to attack Houston; versatile usage expanding beyond slot role.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveProjection24:01

Kendall V. expresses enthusiasm for Kenneth Walker's performance but notes the pace he's on feels unsustainable. Matthew Berry counters that Walker is "loaded for bear" and on a mission to prove himself and shake the injury tag after getting paid. Berry emphasizes he has Walker in "a lot" of lineups this year and pairs him everywhere with Emmitt Johnson as a handcuff, viewing Johnson as a Walker clone in many aspects.

Insight page

Malik Washington

PositiveProjection51:40

Ranked WR42 this week; 21% target share through two games; all short/near-line-of-scrimmage targets; slot/gadget role; Caleb Douglas dealing with ankle injury (didn't practice Wednesday); more upside in comeback mode against Chiefs than usual.

Insight page

Marcus Mariota

PositiveProjection55:20

Good streamer option moving forward (not this week vs. Seahawks); 25% target share with Terry McLaurin over last eight games; not the answer for streaming this week but preferred long-term over Geno Smith or Drew Lock.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeInjury46:40

Status uncertain for Week 3; if out, Dalton Schultz becomes a must-start; if he returns, Schultz remains second-best pass catcher on Texans.

Insight page

Parker Washington

PositiveProjection42:35

Ranked WR10 this week; 36% target share (third in NFL); five straight games with 16+ fantasy points dating back to last year; plays slot role in Liam Cohen offense (productive with Wondell Robinson at Kentucky, Chris Godwin in Tampa); Patriots ranked 31st in defensive pass DVOA against WR1s; likely to see volume as Jaguars throw to keep up.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection21:48

Matthew Berry had Mahomes as QB14 in preseason due to concerns about running ability post-shoulder surgery (25% of fantasy points came from legs last year), Rice's injury, and Kelsey aging. However, Berry now rates Mahomes as a top-five QB play this week, noting he's "running, throwing, looks like 15 out there." Against Miami, which allows passing TDs at the second-highest rate in the NFL and has the 31st-ranked pressure rate, Mahomes will have time to pick apart the defense. Quarterbacks facing Miami are completing 78% of passes (highest in NFL through two weeks). Berry frames the Chiefs as reasserting dominance: "we still run this town."

Insight page

Quinshon Judkins

PositiveProjection31:45

Kendall V. rates Quinshon Judkins inside the top 20 RBs this week. Through two weeks, Judkins has seen almost 80% of the Browns' running back touches—a massive workload. The Panthers allow over 170 rushing yards per game and 6+ yards per carry. Kendall doesn't expect the Panthers to blow out Cleveland, so Judkins won't be game-script dependent. Judkins has a 13.5% target share, which isn't crazy but shows he's not nothing in the passing game.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

NegativeProjection36:43

Kendall V. rates Ramondre Stevenson as RB28 this week against Jacksonville and places him in the hate column. Kendall goes back and forth on Stevenson and defers to Matthew Berry's take, suggesting concerns about fumbling issues or a potential shift to Travion Henderson in the Patriots backfield.

Insight page
NegativeRole38:35

Ranked RB28 this week; fumbled last week and received only five touches (30% snap share); workload now much closer to Travion Henderson's than expected two weeks ago; Jacksonville allows just 3.2 yards per carry and 55 rushing yards per game to opposing backs (among league lowest); low-end RB3 for the week despite being ranked ahead of Henderson.

Insight page

Terry McLaurin

PositiveProjection54:20

Ranked outside top 30 this week; Marcus Mariota has 25% target share with McLaurin over last eight games, so connection exists; but Seattle Seahawks allow fewest fantasy points to opposing WRs (league-low 7.9 yards per reception); Commanders have lowest implied team total (17 points); tough matchup expected to shut down McLaurin.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

NegativeInjury33:57

Kendall V. notes that Trevor Etienne (pronounced the traditional way, unlike Travis Etienne) is hurt and out for the game against Pittsburgh. He's in the Saints backfield mix but unavailable this week.

Insight page
NegativeProjection34:20

Matthew Berry rates Travis Etienne Jr. (referred to as "Travis A. Chan" in the broadcast) as RB26 this week, though Kendall V. has him at RB30. Through two games, Etienne has seen under 50% of Saints running back snaps and plays under 40% of snaps on third down—this despite Alvin Kamara being back for only one game. Kendra Miller is also in the mix. Berry views Etienne as touchdown-dependent flex and would avoid the Saints backfield entirely if possible. The three-headed committee is described as "a mess."

Insight page
NegativeRole37:08

Matthew Berry expresses discomfort with starting Etienne despite New Orleans' good pace of play; the offensive situation remains confusing and unreliable for fantasy purposes.

1:47And it is Love Hate Day. It's Love Hate Day.
1:50We're very excited. Thank you so much for joining us.
1:53Thank you to the regulars. A couple of quick pieces of business before we get into Love Hate and we bring in our guest today.
2:00Number one is in case you missed the announcement yesterday, I am headed to Roku.
2:04I'm taking my talents to Roku. I'm like proud Fantasy Life investor LeBron James.
2:09I am taking my talents to Roku. It doesn't mean I'm disappearing from the YouTube channel.
2:13It doesn't mean I'm disappearing from Spotify or Apple or wherever you get your podcasts.
2:18You will still get Fantasy Football Happy Hour wherever you get your podcasts.
2:21You will still be able to watch Fantasy Football Happy Hour.
2:24You'll see clips of it, long clips of it on the Matthew Berry YouTube channel and wherever you follow me on social media.
2:31If you do, I hope you do, at MatthewBerryTMR.
2:34But except on Snapchat where I'm at MatthewBerry1 because for some reason.
2:37Anyway, but I don't snap all that much. I usually, candidly, I just use Snapchat to talk to my kids.
2:43It's the easiest way for me to get a hold of my kids.
2:47All right. But what I want to talk about is, so the Roku show starts at noon Eastern on Monday the 28th.
2:53I'm going to go 12 to 2. And if you would like to participate in the Roku show, which is similar to
3:00how the regulars participate in this show, the answer, the easiest way to do it will be two ways.
3:05Number one is to tweet at me, to tweet at me, at MatthewBerryTMR.
3:09And also in the Discord. We're going to create a specific Roku show channel within the Fantasy Football Happy Hour Discord.
3:15If you're watching this on YouTube, just go to the description.
3:18There is a link to join the Discord. It is free.
3:21It's easy. Even if you've never joined Discord, all you got to do is click a link and you download the app.
3:28And it's super easy. I promise you, if I can do it, anyone, anyone can do it.
3:33So I'm very excited. As DJ Chef says, yeah, DJChef.fresh.
3:35Barry, the talented Mr. Roku. Hashtag remix. I like that, the talented Mr.
3:39Roku. That's right. I'm all in on the Roku.
3:42I have to come up with a dumb, rejected Roku mascot now.
3:45At any rate. So, but I'm very excited. I couldn't be more excited about the Roku show.
3:50Pre-game with Matthew Barry. They put my name in the title.
3:53Two hours. The first hour is going to be general sports talk.
3:57It's going to be pop culture. It's going to be celebrity interviews.
4:00It's going to be nonsense. You know, it's a Matthew Barry show, right?
4:04And the second hour will be fantasy football happy hour.
4:07That will be the second hour. So one to two will be what you'll hear on the podcast.
4:12That'll be the audio portion of the show that is all the fantasy.
4:16So more of the same, slightly differently. I hope you'll come along with me.
4:20It's been a fun journey as I've gone out on my own and gone full time to fantasy life.
4:25And one of the best things about going full time to fantasy life is I've gotten the opportunity now to work with
4:32my fantasy life brethren, my colleagues, my friends, my colleagues, my pals, my amigos, and my amigas.
4:37Like my buddy, my pal, my partner in crime, Kendall Valenzuela at Kendall V.
4:41There she is. Hello. Poor Kendall. Kendall lives in LA.
4:44She lives in Los Angeles or just outside of Los Angeles with her husband.
4:48You guys just bought a new house. I know.
4:50And it is the crack of dawn there, but you look at you.
4:54You look all bright and chipper. Kendall Valenzuela, you are the best.
4:58You are a, you are. I want to give me a second here before I even let you talk by May.
5:04And we're coming up with love, hate. We've got love, hate in a minute.
5:08I promise you. We've got some news and then we've got some love, hate coming up.
5:12But I think Kendall, we've hired a lot of people at fantasy life over the years.
5:17And many of them are great. Some of them not so much, to be honest with you.
5:22And we've had a couple of duds, but they're no longer with us.
5:26But overall, for the most part, everyone we've hired has been awesome.
5:29So it's a high bar to clear. And I don't think there's anyone that I've hired whose work I enjoy more, who I'm prouder of than Kendall Valenzuela.
5:37Of course, Kendall, we all follow you at kvalenzuela17 on social media.
5:41But Kendall, you are a rocket ship. And I just, I love you.
5:45And I will tell you, because so many people, so many people in the industry come knocking, because they see what I
5:51see, that Kendall's just a rock star. She's just incredible.
5:54And so many people, KV, come to you and they come to me.
5:58And they're like, oh, we want Kendall for this.
6:00We want Kendall for that. I'm just going to tell everyone, just here.
6:04And I'm going to tell them in front of you.
6:07You will pry Kendall Valenzuela out of my hands, out of my cold, dead hands.
6:11I appreciate it, Matthew. Thank you for the kind words.
6:14It's so nice. It's six in the morning. I mean, it just sets the tone for the day.
6:19Thank you. It's not kind words, Kendall. You've earned every single accolade.
6:23You have won many awards for the company and for yourself.
6:26You are among the things that you do for the company and you do them stellar.
6:31Like, by the way, and I also think the important thing is I think most people, and it's an unfortunate piece of
6:37sexism in our industry, but I think most people see a woman in front of a microphone talking about fantasy football and
6:43they're like, oh, she's just there because she's a woman.
6:46She's just there for some other reason. No, I don't think you understand this.
6:50So last year, Kendall entered this stacked league, which was like all these big time fantasy experts that all of you people follow.
6:57And she effing crushed them like a grape. She squashed them.
7:00She made them a little bug. She put them under her Kendall V feet.
7:04Kendall, she is our stacked league champion. She's won many expert leagues.
7:08She was formerly at a pro football focus before she came to us at Fantasy Life.
7:12I don't think they utilized her properly, but thank God they didn't because it allowed us to swoop in and steal her away.
7:19But you are the host of Fantasy Life. They host and the expert, honestly.
7:23You are the star of Fantasy Life Radio, Monday through Friday?
7:26Or are you doing Monday through Friday? Yeah, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.
7:30Pacific time. I know I'm trying to do East Coast hours.
7:33It's too early for that. 11 to 1. 11 to 1.
7:36Yeah. 11 to 1 Eastern, but your morning drive on the West Coast.
7:4011 to 1 Eastern throughout it. You are also the star of our LG channel.
7:44We do a fast channel for LG, an exclusive Fantasy Life fast channel for LG, where we do a bunch of different
7:51shows, including three different exclusive, actually four. We do four exclusive shows a week for LG.
7:55So every LG television set out there in the country, you can catch Kendall and her cast of idiots, one of which is me.
8:02I pop on there. So you do that. And in addition to, you do a ton of social stuff for us.
8:08You do various things. And I'm excited to get you on our Roku show.
8:12Yes. We'll talk about that offline. But we just got to get you out of from L.A.
8:17here. We've got to figure all that out. But you will absolutely be part of the Roku show, Kendall V.
8:23But for people, but because you do the show, because you do, A, because I've been on NBC and ESPN and they
8:30wouldn't let me use, you know, people outside of those ecosystems.
8:33And then also because you work from 11 to 1, which is when happy hour is, this is our first time that
8:39we've been able to do this show together. We've done a lot of work together over the years, but we haven't been able to do it together.
8:47So for my audience real quickly, and I promise you, we're getting to love-hate here.
8:51But I just want to take a minute or two here just for people to get to know you, Kendall.
8:57Okay. You went to Arizona State, Forks Up. Sure did.
9:00Forks Up, baby. Right? You were in the Walter Cronkite Journalism School.
9:03And then give everyone the quick bio before we managed to weasel our way into your lives and talk into joining us.
9:10Yeah, yeah. Arizona State, Forks Up. Love Arizona State.
9:12Cronkite School of Journalism down there. Covered, you know, covered a lot of those teams.
9:17Was the editor for our paper, which was amazing.
9:19First female editor, by the way, for the paper at Arizona State.
9:23So that was fun. And then, yeah, worked my way into Denver Radio.
9:27So shout out to Broncos Country. I was at 104.3 The Fan for, I believe, four years.
9:32Just doing social for them and then, you know, doing a little on-air stuff.
9:36Yeah, it was super fun. The quarterbacks that they went through in my time in Denver was insane.
9:41I'm happy that, at least right now, Denver looks like they've got it locked down and together.
9:46Were you there for the Brock Osweiler era? Oh, yeah.
9:49Oh, yeah. We made t-shirts. We had Brock Osweiler.
9:51Matthew, I mean, we had to talk about Trevor Simeon for a very long time.
9:56Like, that was kind of hellish. So I knew if I could get through that and if Broncos Country could get through that, we could get through anything.
10:04Joe Flacco was there before I left. Like, they went through a lot of quarterbacks.
10:08It was awful. And then, yeah, like you said, went to beautiful, beautiful Cincinnati, Ohio to work at PFF, which was awesome.
10:14Cincinnati doesn't get enough love. I think I loved Cincinnati.
10:17Granted, Matthew, you came knocking on my door when I was like 12 months into that job.
10:22So I went from there to you guys and it was the best decision I ever made.
10:27I'm happy to be here. We love you, Kendall.
10:30And like I said, I'm telling everyone else in the industry, you will pry Kendall Valenzuela out of my cold, dead hands.
10:36Love it. She's the star of Fantasy Life. She is one of our faces.
10:40She's a rock star. And we love her. And I'm so thrilled to have you on the show to talk a little bit love-hate here.
10:47So, but before we get there, Kendall V, a little bit of news here.
10:51So, you know, poor Jonathan Brooks. I know. This poor guy can't seem to catch a break, right?
10:57As you see the tweet here from Ian Rappaport.
10:59Panthers running back Jonathan Brooks, who left Sunday's win early, expected to have surgery today to repair a core muscle injury.
11:05This is why I don't have core muscles, because they get injured all the time.
11:10That will land him on injured reserve. Sources say Brooks is out at least six weeks, but could return with plenty of time to contribute down the stretch.
11:18So, I guess it's the Chubbler, Chuba Hubbard. He's the show here, Kendall V.
11:22Talk to me about this Panthers backfield a little bit.
11:25Well, it's sad for Jonathan Brooks. I mean, they're just these guys, Matthew, that just unfortunately, and he's so young, so I
11:31hate to even say it now, but he just can't stay healthy.
11:35And so, I hope that many people, when they were drafting, if and when they were drafting Jonathan Brooks, that it was, you know, at a reasonable price.
11:43I was tapped out after, once he started going inside the first 10 rounds of fantasy drafts, I just said, you know
11:49what, I don't, the risk is there. The high reward is also there.
11:53So, you know, if you were taking him in that range, hopefully he was only your RB3, RB4 bench stash guy.
11:59So, you're going to miss him for, like you said, an extended period of time.
12:03Chuba Hubbard looks fantastic, though, to be totally fair.
12:06I know they were working out, they were working out our guy, right?
12:10Austin Eckler? I don't know if they went and signed him yet.
12:13I haven't read the news this morning, but that would be awesome.
12:17We love Austin Eckler here. Proud fantasy life investor, Austin Eckler.
12:20Friend of the podcast, Austin Eckler. He's awesome. We had Austin Eckler on earlier in the season.
12:25We're going to get him back again. Oh, I love that.
12:28I don't think they're signing Eckler. We will see what happens.
12:31AJ Dillon's going to be the, AJ Dillon is going to be the backup here as well.
12:36But to your point about Chuba Hubbard, through two weeks, he ranks as the 14th best running back in utilization score.
12:42Kendall, of course, our colleague and friend Dwayne McFarlane and his proprietary metric utilization score that you can find at fantasylife.com.
12:48I'm a company man. But I have Hubbard at running back 16.
12:52I don't think there's any value to Dillon other than as an insurance back here.
12:56They won't go into this week three game with just two running backs.
13:00They'll sign somebody, you know what I mean? Like, you know, Timbiakobotuka, where are you?
13:04Like, let's find some, yeah. Let's go get him.
13:07We'll find somebody. But so somebody from the Panthers, they'll get somebody out there.
13:11But again, just AJ Dillon's the backup. But Chuba Hubbard should be, has a big workload.
13:15We feel terrible for Jonathan Brooks. In the last three seasons, since Jonathan Brooks was drafted in 2025, he's played five games in three seasons.
13:23Sorry, not 25, 24, right? 24, 25, 20. Yeah, he's played, in the last three seasons, he's played five games.
13:28And so, honestly, I will say this. Here's the other thing I'll say.
13:32Is that if you have an IR spot, great, okay, fine, stash him.
13:36But if you are in a league that doesn't have an IR spot, I think he's droppable.
13:41He's going to be out at least six weeks.
13:43We have yet to see him be great in the NFL.
13:47This is the same argument we made about Marshawn Lloyd.
13:49It's just, it's unfortunate. It's awful. We like the kid.
13:52We root for the kid. He was a preseason sleeper for so many.
13:56But Hubbard has been effective. And assuming Hubbard, I mean, you know, the Panthers are 101.
14:01They're looking good. Bryce Young's chucking it all over the place.
14:04Like, I just, I think Hubbard, no pun intended, takes this job and runs with it.
14:09And I think it's going to be, it is likely going to be, even if he comes back in six weeks.
14:15Okay, so in week seven, you're not starting him in week seven.
14:18You want to see him, you know, do something.
14:21So then you're like, okay, the earliest you would feel comfortable starting Jonathan Brooks is week eight.
14:26I just, I don't know if you want to use a bench spot for two months.
14:30I don't think you do. I don't think so, no.
14:33Unless you have an IR spot that, and there's so many other players that, you know, whether, whether, like Nico Collins looks
14:40like he's going to miss this week. Like, they're just, if you play in a league with only one IR spot, I
14:46think there are other players that you're going to want to use there versus Brooks Kendall.
14:51Yeah. Well, it's like the same thing with Dijon Stribbling.
14:53Like, we can be really excited about Dijon Stribbling.
14:56But at some point you have to say, well, it looks like he's going to be out for an extended period of time.
15:03And like you said, Jonathan Brooks, or excuse me, Chuba Hubbard was averaging 19.1 points per game.
15:08Like, Jonathan Brooks is really, can be good in the NFL.
15:11It's just like, I don't think by the time he gets back, you guys are trying to make your playoff pushes and
15:17getting into the fantasy playoffs here and make sure your team's in a good spot.
15:22And I just don't think that Jonathan Brooks could be the guy that you trust to get you over that hump into
15:28the playoffs and then feel comfortable, feel good about him anywhere else.
15:31So yeah, I think, I think he's droppable as well.
15:34Chuba Hubbard looks good. And Bryce Young looks good too.
15:37So like, that's a whole other conversation, but this team is plucky.
15:41And I don't think it's the Panthers of old.
15:43I think the Panthers, you and I were talking about that on one of the other shows.
15:48It's like, I think the Panthers have done a good job giving Bryce Young the opportunity to become this, you know, this
15:55version of himself where they have to figure out if they pay him or not.
15:59So it's been fun to watch. It has absolutely been fun to watch.
16:03You know what else is fun to watch is love-hate.
16:06It's a love-hate day, Kendall V. It's a love-hate day.
16:08So what I would love to do here, definitely don't hate it, is what I would like to do is what you
16:15do so well is what you do on LG, what you do on SiriusXM, what you do wherever you go.
16:21You are, I should say this, by the way, when SiriusXM for Fantasy Sports Radio, like they have a ton of different shows.
16:27Each of the last two years, what they have done is they've asked Kendall Valenzuela to anchor their Super Bowl coverage.
16:33You go to Radio Row and who's in the SiriusXM booth?
16:37Yes. It is Kendall Valenzuela. Not any of these other, you know, jackholes.
16:40It's Kendall Valenzuela there, along with her tag team partner, Adam Ronas.
16:44We had Ronas on on Tuesday for waivers. But, uh...
16:47G'day, I'm Justin Wolfers, host of the Platypus Economics Podcast.
16:50If there's one thing I've learned from a career teaching economics, it's that your life is shaped by economic currents you'll never see.
16:56A single price tag can explain things a thousand experts can't.
16:59People who understand economics, they make better decisions in their careers, their finances, their relationships in their communities, and I want that for you.
17:06Listen to and follow Platypus Economics, available now wherever you get your podcasts.
17:10Um, but we want you here for Love Hate Day.
17:13Love Hate Day is a special day. But anyway, so, uh, Kendall, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna turn the reins over to you.
17:20I'm gonna let you host this. Um, and then, uh, we'll go back and forth on who all the loves and hates are.
17:27Easy. It's like, it's like riding a bike. That's perfect.
17:30All right, so let's get into it, Matthew. Love Hate.
17:33We're going into week three. We, I asked your people to call other people's people, uh, to get the injuries to turn off.
17:39They didn't, but that's fine. We go through it.
17:42We don't give up. You go to fantasylife.com. First and foremost, that's where you go.
17:46Quarterback loves. Let's start there because we always love a good quarterback conversation.
17:50The guy that I think is always under, undervalued, underrated, Brock Purdy in your love list here for today.
17:56Brock Purdy taking on the Arizona Cardinals. Also a plucky team.
17:59I don't think you can look at Arizona and say, well, it's a, it's a, it's a huge win.
18:04Just go and give it to him. Why do you have Brock Purdy in your loves this week?
18:09Well, I'm a QB three, Kendall. So, I mean, like, I think he's a top three play first off 49ers offense.
18:16Just absolutely rolling implied team total of 28 points.
18:18That's the third highest on the week three slate here.
18:21And we just talk about this Cardinals, like, yes, nice win in week one, but it remains to be seen how nice
18:27that was is the Chargers also got roasted by the Raiders.
18:31Right? So this, this Arizona secondary, they're bad. And then Will Johnson goes on IR.
18:35Like they're one best, they had one good corner in Will Johnson.
18:38He's now on IR. So a bad secondary just got worse.
18:42And in fact, the Cardinals rank bottom eight in yards for pass attempt and touchdown rate allowed through two weeks.
18:47That's a stat that tells you what you know.
18:50If you've watched any Cardinals football the last two weeks, you can throw on the Cardinals.
18:55And Purdy, who is just entirely locked in, looks like Mike Evans.
18:58It wasn't a serious injury. He could have come back if they needed him as well.
19:03Kittle looks all the way back as well, or at least close enough.
19:06Debo's back. CMC for, it's so crazy. Like, given the fact that they're next to a substation.
19:11And yes, I know they lost dribbling and everything like that.
19:15But the, the Niners generally for the Niners, at least seem relatively healthy.
19:18Again, I have Brock Purdy as a top three play, Kendall V.
19:22I like it. He's my QB four at fantasylife.com.
19:24So I'm right there with you. He, I don't know, Matthew, he always is someone that is underrated.
19:30He leads the league right now in total QBR, completion percentage, off target percentage as well.
19:34One of five quarterbacks for us in fantasy to score 20 plus fantasy points in each of the first two weeks.
19:40So he's just someone that whenever he's on the board and we're drafting, I'm like, oh, it's perfect.
19:46I still have Brock Purdy here. So I like him in this spot as well in the Arizona Cardinals.
19:51The 49ers have traveled a lot too. So I know people might look at that and say, hey, this might not be great for them.
19:58They've traveled a lot, but don't worry. It's Brock Purdy.
20:01And then it's everyone else. Another quarterback that you love.
20:04They're home this week. To your point, they're home this week.
20:07And the other thing about Purdy that he gets no respect for, he gives you more points with his legs than anyone gives him credit for.
20:15Yes. I think they see him as, people still think of him as this guy that was drafted in, you know, in the late rounds.
20:22And no, he's, he's legitimately very good quarterback in the NFL.
20:25Yeah. So, yeah. I like it. I like it.
20:28Patrick Mahomes. Were you fading Patrick Mahomes before the, because there were those conversations, Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs aren't going to be that good.
20:35Travis Kelsey's older. Patrick Mahomes coming off his surgery and he's not going to be the Patrick Mahomes of old.
20:41Like everything looks really dang good for this team.
20:43Eric B enemy's back. They signed Kenneth Walker. You like Patrick Mahomes.
20:47We pick on the Miami Dolphins. I feel like you would have liked Patrick Mahomes anyway, but this feels like a smash spot for him this weekend.
20:54Kendall, I would have liked you against the Miami, Miami Dolphins.
20:58By the way, I would have liked, honestly, you know, that's, the truth is, is I would have liked me against the Miami Dolphins.
21:05Like, Kendall's an athlete. I mean, like, I'm not.
21:07Kendall's an athlete, right? Like, you played, did you play, did you play, I know you played soccer, but did you play it in college?
21:14Yeah, softball. No. Oh, God, no. No. Those, those, those guys.
21:18I knew it was an S sport. But, but yes, but still athletic.
21:21Softball, soccer, a little basketball. Wasn't very good at basketball.
21:24So, but Matthew, you can, you can take on Miami.
21:27I know that for a fact. I, like, I, we, we did a, we did a Fantasy Life Company outing and I've seen you play golf.
21:35Oh, the golf. Yeah. You were crushing it from the tee.
21:38I will just say this. Kendall can crush it from the tee.
21:41I forgot about that. Like, did you notice I went to my 7 iron?
21:45Cause I didn't, I didn't want anyone to see me drive against you.
21:49Well, it helped. It helped when you guys were drinking too.
21:52I was like, everyone here are shots. We're at happy hour.
21:56I was like, whatever. So I could look up even that much better.
21:59But I forgot about that. That was so funny in Ohio, by the way.
22:03Yes. In Ohio. Yes. Of all places. What were we doing?
22:07It's a long story. I, Kendall V. But yes.
22:09So first off, I will, I will cop to the fact that, I mean, I had Patrick Mahomes in the preseason QB 14.
22:16I was nervous. Would he be able to run coming off the Sarah surgery?
22:20Because previously last year, 25% of his fantasy points came from his legs.
22:24I was a little bit nervous about that. I was nervous about Rice's injury.
22:28I was nervous about Kelsey being a year older.
22:30But honestly, all those questions I feel like have been answered.
22:33That was really impressive last Monday night against the Colts.
22:36And so here's Mahomes now getting, he's running. He's throwing.
22:39He looks like, he looks like 15 out there.
22:42And now he gets the Miami Dolphins. That allows the passing touchdowns at the second highest rate in the NFL.
22:48In fact, quarterbacks that have faced the Dolphins so far this year are completing 78.
22:52It's not a typo. 78% of their passes. Obviously, that's the highest rate in the National Football League through two weeks.
22:58The Dolphins are 31st in pressure rate. Only one team gets the quarterback less than the Miami Dolphins.
23:03So now you've got Patrick Mahomes, who's just going to have all the time in the world to sit there and just pick apart Miami.
23:11It feels a little bit like the Chiefs are on kind of a, oh yeah, we still run this town.
23:16Don't, I want you to ignore all the BS, all the offseason.
23:20Sorry, Denver. Sorry, Chargers. I know everyone wants to anoint you guys, but we're not going away just quietly.
23:25I have Patrick Mahomes as a top five play this week.
23:29Yeah, they're coming back for the crown. They're scary.
23:31I'm scared of them, to be honest. I think Eric Bien-Ami also deserves like a ton of hype for this too.
23:37Because I think sometimes when we talk, there's so many, what, there's 22 new offensive coordinators in the NFL.
23:43And while he's not new, he's coming back. 2022 version of the Chiefs though with Eric Bien-Ami there.
23:48Number one offense, 29.2 points per game, 2023 to 2025 when it was Matt Nagy, who people hate.
23:53I understand it, but they were never better than 15.
23:56So they've got my guy. I miss him, Matthew.
23:59Kenneth Walker. It's so nice to see him thriving though.
24:02I just, they've got Kenneth Walker, which is such a great balance right now for Patrick Mahomes, where he just doesn't have
24:08to have the weight of the world on his shoulders yet.
24:11I just want to know if you think that they're going to be able to have Kenneth Walker do what he does all season.
24:18Because the pace that he's on just feels unsustainable.
24:21Even if you don't have injury concerns, it feels unsustainable.
24:24I hear you there. I mean, I think he's, I think Ken Walker is loaded for bear.
24:28For people that don't know, Kendall is a diehard Seahawks fan, has been her entire life.
24:33But you're not allowed to, you're the Super Bowl champions.
24:36You're not allowed to complain. I know, I know.
24:39That's why I'm like, I love him. Yeah, you're not allowed to complain about losing Ken Walker.
24:43But I will say that, again, I've said this sort of about Tank Biggs being some of the other guys.
24:49Emmitt Johnson needs to be rostered in 100% of leagues.
24:52Yes. Because Ken Walker's rostered in 100% of leagues.
24:55And I have to tell you that I hope Ken Walker plays the entire year.
24:59But in a world where Walker might have to miss a game or two, Emmitt Johnson looks great.
25:04And looks kind of like a Ken Walker clone in many aspects.
25:08So, yeah. So, I think Hope Springs Eternal, he played, you know, he got paid.
25:12I think he's on a mission this year to prove and shake the injury tag.
25:16But I have a lot of Ken Walker this year.
25:19But everywhere I have Ken Walker, I have Emmitt Johnson.
25:22So, I'm really not worried. Very quickly on others receiving votes among the quarterback position here at Kendall.
25:27I got Jared Goff against the Jets. Multiple touchdown passes in seven of the last nine home games for Goff.
25:33They're obviously at home against a Jets team that's bottom 10 in pressure rate so far this season.
25:38Goff should have had a clean pocket to pick them apart.
25:42How about Jordan Love tonight against the Falcons in the Thursday night game?
25:45Teams that face the Falcons are averaging over 38 pass attempts per game.
25:49Green Bay, one of the higher implied team totals, 24 points.
25:52I don't think they can run the ball. Atlanta actually has a pretty good run defense.
25:57It's a three-headed committee there. I think they're going to let Jordan Love cook.
26:01So, give me Jordan Love. Give me all the Watson and Matthew Golden stacks.
26:05And then finally, we talked about him early in the show.
26:08Kendall Bryce Young. Yes. Playing at Cleveland, normally not an easy place to play.
26:12But through two weeks, the Panthers, through two weeks, the Browns allow touchdown passes at the fourth highest rate.
26:18So, they're not the Browns' defensive old. They definitely miss Miles Garrett.
26:21They definitely miss Jim Schwartz calling the plays. But in addition, through two weeks, the Carolina Panthers top five in the NFL in pass rate over expectation.
26:29They're letting Bryce cook a little bit. And again, as we just talked about, a thin running back room outside of Chuba
26:36Hubbard, who is a nice pass catcher. I think Bryce has a nice game here.
26:40I'm at QB 15. I think he's a viable streamer.
26:43Shall we get to quarterback hate? Oh, let's do it.
26:46Well, you don't hate anyone, Matthew. Just for the people.
26:49You got to make sure. You don't hate anyone.
26:51It's hating the matchup, whatever it is. But I don't know.
26:54Some people might actually hate Baker Mayfield for what he's doing right now.
26:58Did we need Baker Mayfield? We love when guys get paid, but I want to chip on your shoulder, Baker Mayfield.
27:04It feels like that's not what we're getting right now.
27:07But then he has to face the Flores defense in the Minnesota Vikings here.
27:11So, it just feels all bad for him. He's your, oh, man.
27:15I hate to even say it. He's your QB 20 this week.
27:18That's awful. Baker Mayfield is a friend of the show.
27:21I love Baker Mayfield. I've interviewed him a handful of times.
27:24If you've ever met Baker Mayfield, he's awesome. Yes.
27:27Like, you meet him and you're just like, dude, you're like the greatest guy ever.
27:31Like, he's funny and self-deprecating and charismatic. And I love and root for Baker Mayfield.
27:35But I do hate this matchup against the Vikings where through two weeks, no team has allowed a lower completion rate to opposing quarterbacks than the Minnesota Vikings.
27:44Again, Flo is such a good coach. You're right.
27:46They're going to just bring the pressure constantly. And it just feels like, it just feels like Kendall that they're still fighting
27:53their way in this offense without Mike Evans. Through two weeks, Baker Mayfield just 26th among quarterbacks in yards per pass attempt.
27:59Didn't look good against Cleveland. Now they've got to go against Minnesota.
28:02I just, I'm nervous about Baker Mayfield. I want to see it first.
28:06I'm as a low-end QB2. Ideally this week, even with all the quarterback injuries, you're looking elsewhere than Baker Mayfield against this tough Vikings defense.
28:13He looks like the worst version of himself. And Flores, to give him credit as well, like they blitzed Jordan Love 72%
28:20of his drawbacks week one and then 78% for Caleb Williams.
28:23Like no one can do it like that besides Flores.
28:26So I am scared. And I thank you for bringing that up because I think sometimes, especially early in the season, you
28:32know, you'll see like, oh, the Raiders, blah, blah, blah.
28:35You know, you see some of these stats about like how good they are and you're like, all right, but you know,
28:41yes, like the Jets defense, oh, the Jets defense actually ranks high in a bunch of different metrics.
28:47But yeah, like they haven't played anyone that really scares you.
28:50Right. And so, you know, they, whatever they, you know, they, so, so whereas they've played Jordan Love and Caleb Williams for at least, you know, three quarters.
28:58So I mean, the Vikings have played two very real quarterbacks.
29:01So, um, uh, I'll do respect to, um, all the people that will get offended.
29:06They won't get, you can't get offended. It's happy hour.
29:08That's what we're here for. Let's you can't offend people who weren't talking about the King though.
29:13Running back, running back loves. You want to go over there, Derek Henry.
29:17Uh, he's ageless. He can do no wrong. Uh, I'm going to stop drafting Derek Henry when he retires.
29:23Like that's going to be the point where I just say, well, we can't draft Derek Henry anymore.
29:28They're playing in Brazil. So I don't know if that changes anything here for you, but it looks like it doesn't because he's your RB three this week.
29:36It doesn't for me. Honestly, I feel like when you, when you have these international games and as you mentioned, this one's
29:42in Brazil, um, I sort of feel like, you know, you try to go more basic, right?
29:47You know what I mean? And like, you know, they're just going to run again.
29:52We don't, is a flower is going to play.
29:54Is it going to be a hundred percent? Like the one thing, you know, you can count on with Baltimore is, um,
30:01give the ball to the King, right? So his line, by the way, his rushing yards prop line, 88 and a half.
30:07That's the highest among all running backs in week three.
30:10You know, so our friends in Vegas certainly expect a big game from him against this Cowboys defense that through two weeks is a bottom three rush defense.
30:18They're giving up over 173 rushing yards a game.
30:20And you know, they've played, uh, you know, they played my commanders and the, and, uh, uh, and, and the giants.
30:27Right. So, um, it's not like they've played, you know, unbelievable rushing offenses, but you can run on Dallas.
30:32So yeah, give me all the King Henry this week.
30:35He's my running back three. Yeah. He only had 16 carries last week.
30:39They lost that game. You know, that they're going to come back and just be like, uh, we can't do that crap anymore.
30:45And fantasy managers, I think are going to be fine with it, but yeah, it's, it's Derrick Henry hit the over on
30:52whatever that prop was honestly, maybe too low for Derrick Henry in this matchup against the Cowboys.
30:57So I like it as well. What about chase Brown?
31:00You know, I haven't actually thought, I mean, we've thought about chase Brown, but I haven't thought about him much over the
31:06last week or so, uh, going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, your RB eight, someone that especially a fantasy life and fantasy life.com.
31:13All those articles, but we were very high on chase Brown.
31:16What do you think for this week? Yeah, he was, you know, he was one of, he was one of the running,
31:22he was on my love list in the preseason.
31:25He was, um, he was one of the guys that like we talked about in the, on my ride or die, you
31:31know, finalist lists and everything like that. He was on the short list for potential ride or die, uh, chase Brown, or
31:37as, as, uh, anyone that used to watch the NBC, she knows NBC show knows we, we called him the Brown gobbler.
31:44Well, because, you know, his last name's Brown, Kendall.
31:46And then he gobbles up receptions and fantasy points.
31:49You know, the Brown gobbler. Okay. Okay. Got it.
31:52I'm gonna, I'm not gonna lie to you, Kendall.
31:54It hasn't caught on the way I would. I was going to say, it's not mainstream.
31:59I'll let you know. It's not your daughters aren't saying the Brown gobbler.
32:03Okay. All right. You keep going with it. No.
32:05Yeah. I'm going to make it happen. The Brown gobbler chase Brown at Pittsburgh this week.
32:10He's my running back eight, right? So the utilization off the charts, right?
32:14At least 20 touches, a 15% target share in both games.
32:17So far this year, he's a top seven running back in utilization score throughout the first couple of weeks of the season.
32:23And I'm not scared. This Pittsburgh Steelers defense. I think the jury remains to be seen.
32:28Like they're allowing the fifth most rushing yards per game to opposing running backs.
32:32Now a lot, they give the one big run to Travian Henderson.
32:35So it's skewed a little bit. Again, we've got small sample size.
32:39It's two games. That one big run against Travis Henderson, I think certainly skews that a little bit, but still chase Brown in terms of the massive workload.
32:47We think this Bengals offense is among the best in the NFL.
32:50They're going to be in scoring position often. Yeah.
32:53I'm in on chase Brown just again, because the workload, the offense and the matchup doesn't scare me, especially on the road.
32:59They might go a little bit more run heavy.
33:02Give me chase Brown as a top eight play this week.
33:05Yeah. I like this one a lot. I just chase Brown is consistent for you.
33:10The Brown gobbler, excuse me. Brown gobbler. We can put it in parentheses here.
33:14Maybe after Brown gobbler. That's not going to catch on.
33:17I'm letting you know. I thought you could have done better with the names, but no, this matchup is good.
33:22They're going to lean on him. We'll make it a thing.
33:25Okay. We'll make it a thing. Now, Kendall, now I have a challenge.
33:29Now I have a goal. Now you've just given me a challenge.
33:33The Brown gobbler. Now it's going to become a thing.
33:36All right. All right. We'll make it a thing.
33:38I do like this matchup. Starting Monday, I've got the Roku airwaves at my disposal.
33:43Oh, that's true. You can get the Roku people on.
33:45I like it. I like it. Roku is everywhere, Kendall.
33:48Oh, everywhere. Yeah. Everyone either has a Roku TV set or if they went with another brand, whatever, the Roku channel is on that.
33:55Yes. And if for some reason you don't have a smart TV and you don't have a Roku TV and you don't
34:02have a smart TV that has Roku channel on it, you can download the Roku channel for free like on any device you have.
34:09And by the way, unlike a lot of other streaming services, Roku is free.
34:13So you'll be able to watch me in all my glory talking up the Brown Gobbler for free.
34:18I think that needs to be the first words uttered out of your mouth.
34:22Like the first, they're like, hey, the plaque that they send you for your first show, like the first words is Brown Gobbler.
34:29And then it'll be perfect. Other, let me throw you this.
34:32Other running backs on your love list. I'll go through them and then you can just break them down.
34:37Quinshon Judkins going up against the Carolina Panthers. David Montgomery going up against the Colts.
34:42Jalen Warren on the other side. They're going up against Cincy with Rico down a little bank.
34:47Yeah, let's talk about Judkins through two weeks. He's seen almost 80% of the Browns running back touches.
34:52It's a massive workload, by the way. Panthers allowing over 170 rushing yards a game so far this season, given over six yards per carry.
34:59I don't think the Panthers blow them out. I think Cleveland keeps this close enough.
35:03So I don't think Judkins will be game script dependent.
35:06Worth noting, by the way, Judkins so far than the season, 13 and a half percent target share, which isn't crazy, but
35:13like he's not in nothing in the passing game so far, which is nice.
35:17You mentioned Dave Montgomery. Look, Colts allow the second most rushing yards per game to opposing running backs this year.
35:22We're not expecting Nico Collins. So I think another should be a heavy workload for Montgomery as the Colts are giving up
35:29over five yards per carry so far to opposing running backs this year.
35:33And you mentioned Jalen Warren. Rico Dattle did not practice on Wednesday.
35:36He was wearing a boot on his right foot.
35:39He's either going to miss this game or be limited.
35:42Since the start of last season, when Jalen Warren gets at least 15 touches, and I bet he gets at least 15 in this game against the Bengals.
35:50He's averaging almost 15 fantasy points per game. 14.8 to be exact.
35:53So yeah, I've worn it running back 24 and I have Judkins in Montgomery just inside my top 20.
35:59An injury you definitely have to keep an eye on.
36:02And I don't know if you're like, I keep moving Travis A.
36:05Chan down. He's my RB30 going into the week.
36:08He is on your hate list, I think for a good reason here.
36:11But when you're looking at Travis A. Chan going up against Las Vegas again, your RB26.
36:16He's got a hamstring injury, Matthew. I don't even know if that would have changed your mind though, because this was a three-way committee.
36:23Alvin Kamara getting all the work and the utilization that you saw from last week, which makes no sense to me.
36:29Sometimes I think just follow the money and they paid him for a reason and they're going to utilize him.
36:35I don't know what the heck is going on in New Orleans.
36:38So I hope you can shed some light or it might just be, hey, sit him because it's not good.
36:44That's the answer, right? Until we get some sort of clarity here.
36:48Now I have the highest of all the Saints running backs, slightly higher than you.
36:52I'm at running back 26 because I do think there's a chance that he falls into the end zone as Brian Hickman says, A.
36:59Chan is pronounced bench, which is fair. Good one, Brian.
37:02It's well done. It's well good. By the way, like we were talking about Chuba Hubbard and the Panthers backfield, Jonathan Brooks.
37:08Yeah. Trevor Etienne, his brother who pronounces it the way we've always pronounced it.
37:12So Trevor Etienne already, he's hurt as well. So he's not an option for the Panthers.
37:17He's in that room, but he's hurt. He's out for the game.
37:20So, but Travis A. Chan, as he says, like to your point, right through two games, he's seen under 50% of the Saints running back snaps.
37:28He's played on third down, by the way, he's playing under 40% of the snaps and that's with Kamara only back for one of the games.
37:35Kendra Miller's in the mix there as well. They're throwing a lot.
37:39I love me some Tyler shock as you'll, as you'll see here coming up in a second.
37:44But yeah, man, it just, he's like, he's a touchdown dependent flex.
37:47This is a mess if, um, if, if I can avoid it, I would, I, no part of the Saints.
37:53I like Tyler Shuck. I like Chris Olave. I like Juwan Johnson, but that's the part of the Saints offense.
37:59I want, I just, it's a, it's a three headed committee.
38:02That's ugly. Despite the match with Las Vegas, we're staying far away.
38:05Yeah. It's a nightmare. And Alvin Kamara, I got too many, too many questions, Matthew.
38:10And I'm sure you do as well of people saying, should I pick him up?
38:14No, it's not sustainable. I, you can't expect a 33% rush share from Alvin Kamara the whole rest of the way.
38:20It's just confusing. It sucks. We like Kellen Moore too.
38:23Kellen Moore is usually on our fantasy squad. So I think it turns around maybe eventually a pace of play.
38:29It looks really good for new Orleans as well, but you just can't, you can't feel comfortable starting Travis HN.
38:35Ramondre Stevenson managers also might be a little, I don't know.
38:38I go back and forth on this one, Matthew.
38:40So I'm just going to go air on the side of whatever you say, but they're playing Jacksonville.
38:46He's your RB 28 though. So he's in the hate column.
38:49Is it because of the fumbling issues? Is it because you actually think that now they're going to go to Travion Henderson
38:55and it's going to be his backfield? Why do I have to choose only one, Kendall?
39:00Why can't it be both? Why can't it be both?
39:03Look, I have him be clear. I have him ranked ahead of Travion Henderson this week.
39:07So I still do. Like if you're starting a Patriots running back and you have both of them, I'm saying I start Stevenson over Henderson.
39:15We've seen this play before. Ramondre Stevenson fumbles. Travion Henderson comes in, makes a big play.
39:19And then what happens the next week? And we're like, oh, it's finally, it's Travion season.
39:24And then the next week they go right back to Ramondre Stevenson.
39:27But following his fumble last week, he got five touches.
39:30Like he played just basically 30% of the snaps.
39:33So I think that one of the pro Ramondre Stevenson arguments in the preseason was he's going to get the majority of the work.
39:40And I think given the fumble last week and the fact that Travion looked so good, I think this is probably much
39:46more, this is closer in terms of workload than we would have thought two weeks ago.
39:51And then I don't love this matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, right?
39:54They're running backs that face Jacksonville this year averaging just 3.2 yards per carry.
39:58They're allowing just 55 rushing yards per game to opposing running backs through two weeks.
40:03That's among the league lowest. Like it's hard to run on Jacksonville.
40:06And now he's in a committee. And is there some lingering effects of the fumble plus Travion bursting through?
40:12Again, I ranked him ahead of Travion Henderson. I do think they'll go back to him because the veteran, this game's at Jacksonville.
40:18It's a tough matchup. They're going to want to go to the veteran.
40:22But yeah, he's just a low end RB3 for me this week.
40:26This team is desperate. It seems like too, for any playmaker to step up, especially because they just, they look out of sorts.
40:32Drake may, people are worried about him, which is understandable.
40:35So maybe this is the year that we see Travion Henderson really take over, but I'm with you.
40:40I've still got him ranked behind Ramondre Stevenson, but Ramondre Stevenson is someone that went down the rankings as well.
40:46Can we talk about more? Can we talk loves now?
40:49It's not 630 in the morning to just be, I hate doing him in gloom.
40:53So let's go over to the pass catchers as someone, Chris Alave.
40:57Chris Alave just might be someone that you love, even if, and when Jordan Tyson comes back because he just looks so
41:03good going up against the Las Vegas Raiders here.
41:06You're wide receiver five, and I probably will have a hard time raking him outside the top five the rest of the way until, until Tyson comes back.
41:14How do you feel about it? Kendall, you know what, what I like about Chris Alave, Chris, Tyler Shuck looks at Chris
41:20Salave the way your husband looks at you, right?
41:23It's just nothing. Yes. A thousand percent. Look, so far this game, he's had 10 or more targets in both games this season.
41:3053% of the team's air yards. It's a 14.8 average depth of target.
41:33The A dot's insane. Like they're throwing to him a lot and they're throwing to him a lot down the field.
41:39By the way, the Raiders allowing 18.7 yards per reception to opposing wide receivers.
41:43That is the most in the National Football League.
41:46So you've got a guy that's getting a massive target share and he's getting a massive target share deep against a team
41:52that does nothing but give up deep passes. Yeah.
41:55I'm in on that. Find somebody that looks at you the way that Kendall's husband looks at her or the way that Tyler Shuck looks at Chris Alave.
42:03He's my wide receiver five this week, Kendall V.
42:06Yeah. He ranks second in the NFL in receiving yards behind JSN.
42:09My guy, my Seahawks guy, JSN. Like find someone that just drew locks like, hey, screw it.
42:14He's down there somewhere. Second in receptions behind Amon Ross St.
42:17Brown. Seventh in target share. It just looks really good.
42:20Utilization score at FantasyLife.com sitting at a 95. You can't go wrong with starting Chris Alave.
42:25If you have him, you feel really good about it.
42:28Same with Parker Washington. Is Parker Washington on your list every single week?
42:32It feels like maybe he should be going up against New England.
42:35Yeah. I mean, until he gives me a reason not to be.
42:38I meant Parker Washington at wide receiver 10. I mean, I think at this point, the secret's out.
42:44Everyone realizes that Parker Washington is not just a guy as I think so many people thought last year he was.
42:50We talked about this all preseason. We talked about it honestly last year.
42:54We talked about it for a long time on this show.
42:57But like Parker Washington can play. I think it's just because he plays in a small market.
43:02He came into the league without a ton of fanfare.
43:05But Parker Washington absolutely play. We've talked about this slot role in a Liam Cohen offense, which has been productive everywhere Liam Cohen has been.
43:12Going back to Wondell Robinson at Kentucky or Chris Godwin in Tampa Bay.
43:16And so now that role belongs to Parker Washington, who's got a 36% target share, which is third in the NFL.
43:22Like so far through the first two games, 36% target share for Parker Washington dating back to last year.
43:27Five straight games with at least 16 fantasy points.
43:30He's going up against New England. I think they're going to have to throw to keep up with the Patriots.
43:36I do think Drake May has a better game this week.
43:39So yeah, give me Parker Washington as a top 10 play this week.
43:42I like it. He could see Christian Gonzalez. At some point, these defenses are going to have to figure out like Brian Thomas Jr.
43:49Fine. We'll just let him go because Parker Washington is the guy over there.
43:53So maybe a little Gonzalez. But last year, the Patriots were number 31 in defensive past DVOA against number one wide receivers.
44:00So any way you look at it with Parker Washington, it feels pretty dang good over.
44:04I'm going to have to ask your guy, Scott Turner, about that.
44:08I have to see when they're going to change things up over there because they can't keep letting Parker Washington get away with all of this.
44:15Same with Christian Watson. Unfortunately injuries going over to the Packers.
44:19I mean, Jaden Reed, the conversation about Jaden Reed right now is if he even comes back for the year.
44:24So that's super unfortunate. Hopefully he's able to get healthy.
44:27But Christian Watson going up against Atlanta. He is your wide receiver 12 and looks really good.
44:32We were in Christian Watson was a big sleeper in the preseason for me and for Dwayne McFarlane, who, you know, I
44:39had Dwayne on the show and we talked about the fact like, guys, this is no longer just nothing but go balls.
44:45Like, look at his route tree. Like he's doing intermediate stuff.
44:48Like he's he's moved to the Z. They're doing different things with him as well.
44:53Through two weeks. He's the wide receiver eight in utilization score.
44:56We like the Packers wide receiver room already with Dobbs and Wicks moving on.
45:00And now with Jaden Reed hurt, not that we're rooting for Jaden Reed or not that we're happy about him being hurt.
45:06But the fact of the matter is, is that, you know, it's basically it's Watson, it's golden, it's Tucker Kraft for an
45:12offense that we think is going to throw more.
45:15And so since week 11 of last year, like listen to the stat, Kendall, since week 11 of last season, Christian Watson
45:21is the ninth best wide receiver in fantasy football on a points per game basis.
45:26So like we've got a decent sample size of this guy being awesome.
45:30As long as he's healthy, he's going to be like a borderline wide receiver one.
45:34And that's where I have him ranked this week.
45:37He's my wide receiver 12. Fire him up against the Falcons tonight.
45:40Bird up, unfortunately, is not going to have happen tonight as Christian Watson, the Packers.
45:44Smoke them some Falcons. Yeah. And like the Jaden Reed, I mean, this was already a more condensed offense.
45:50Now it's going to get even more. I think they continue utilizing Jordan Love because they have to, because the ground game
45:56is so bad and they just unleash him and it could start in that game there.
46:01So I'm all with you on Christian Watson and Dalton Schultz doing it again.
46:05Hopefully. I mean, people need 28, 25, whatever he gave you last week, fantasy points, but Dalton Schultz in this one going
46:11up against the Indianapolis Colts, still a question mark if Nico Collins is out there, which obviously helps his case.
46:17If Nico doesn't go, then obviously Dalton Schultz is a must start.
46:21It feels like in every single format, but what makes him stand out to you this week?
46:25Well, it's a nice match with the Colts, right?
46:28Who so far have allowed the fourth most yards to opposing tight ends so far this season.
46:33As you mentioned, Nico Collins out last week. Dalton Schultz, just a monster game.
46:37He was on this list last week and I'm working out obviously.
46:41And I still think even if Nico Collins comes back, Dalton Schultz is still like the second best pass catcher on this team.
46:47Now he's a catch and fall tight end. Like there's not a lot of yards after the catch, not a lot of explosive plays, but like he's reliable.
46:55He gets open. There's a trust between him and Stroud.
46:58So yeah, he's my tight end nine this week.
47:01Yeah, he's, he's good. There's no other way to say it.
47:04Like whatever you saw last week can happen again here.
47:07So CJ Stroud, this team needs him to continue moving forward here.
47:10So I also like Dalton Schultz. He's my tight end nine as well.
47:14Same minds, great minds. Think like Matthew. I think that's how they say that one.
47:18Who are your other receiving votes? I'm just going to throw it to you on the love list that people need to know about.
47:25Hey, Coke heads unite, Kendall. All of us that, that love Coke and by Coke, I mean Jalen Coker, of course, but
47:32all of us I'm just, he's just snorting up fantasy points so far.
47:36Kendall like the, you know, and I think he continues to do that this weekend against a Cleveland defense.
47:41It's already allowed four touchdowns to opposing wide receivers.
47:44That's tied for the most in the NFL, 27% target share for Jalen Coker.
47:48Again, he's just snorting up all the targets. He's top 12 among wide receivers.
47:52Jalen Coker is through two games, 27% target share.
47:54I'm all in on Jalen Coker. Coke heads unite.
47:57How about Josh Downs? Alec Pierce, unfortunate injury. We talked about him early in the week.
48:02So Josh Downs after Alec Pierce left the game last week, Josh Downs had a 36% target share in this one as well.
48:08He ran over 40% of his routes from the perimeter.
48:11I mean, this is a guy that's not only a slot player anymore playing against Houston, but they can move them all over.
48:18And again, the slot is the place you attack Houston because the Texans do have really strong corners.
48:23This is a crazy stat for me, but through two games, Kendall, you'll win a bar bet.
48:28You know, we're here in the happy hour bar.
48:31But through two games, answer this question for me.
48:33Through two games, the wide receiver, not even the wide receiver.
48:36Through two games, Kendall Valenzuela, the person on the New York Jets that has the highest target share and has the most amount of targets is?
48:44On the Jets? Aidy Mitchell. Adenai Mitchell. Yes. Good call.
48:47That's right. Team high, 25% target share, right? Detroit, by the way, as we know, their safeties are banged up.
48:53No one has allowed more receiving yards to opposing wide receivers this year than the Detroit Lions.
48:57So I just think, look, the Jets are going to have to throw to keep up with Detroit.
49:03There's no question about it. And they've been playing Mitchell a lot.
49:06Geno Smith is not afraid to throw it. You know Geno from his times in Seattle, of course, like he's got zero Fs to give.
49:13Yeah, give me some A.D. Mitchell as a, you know, I'm at wide receiver 33.
49:18Let's not get crazy about it. But I think if you need a wide receiver three, if you need a little bit
49:24of upside in a deeper league, give me some A.D.
49:27Mitchell. How about Malik Washington, right? Basically, Caleb Douglas dealing with that ankle injury.
49:31Didn't practice on Wednesday as well. Both games this season, a 21% target share.
49:35It's all short stuff. It's all near the line of scrimmage.
49:38He's basically become like their slot guy, their gadget guy.
49:41But like at the moment, that's what Malik Willis feels comfortable with.
49:45I'm at wide receiver 42, but I think there's more upside in a comeback mode against the Chiefs than there has been normally for Malik Washington.
49:52And finally, the last one I got to mention here, Kendall, is a Rondae Gadsden.
49:57We all loved Gadsden last year. Go Cuse. Cuse is in the house.
50:00But the problem with it coming into this year was that, you know, David Njoku, Charlie Kohler, all of a sudden he's
50:07part of a three-headed running tight end by committee for the Bolts.
50:10But Njoku and Kohler both banged up. One of them's on IR.
50:14Neither of them are going to play against the Bills in a game in which the Chargers are over a touchdown underdog here.
50:20So we expect Justin Herbert and the Bolts to have to throw quite a bit.
50:25No competition at tight end. And I think this offense clearly needs a spark.
50:29So I'm hoping Mike McDaniel says, hey, Rondae Gadsden's been productive anytime he's been out there.
50:33Let's get him more out there. I mean, remember, Mike McDaniel's the guy that resurrected Darren Waller.
50:38Yeah, exactly. And they need a spark. So I don't care who it is at this point.
50:43I just truly don't. It doesn't matter to us.
50:46It can be the fifth string, whoever. It doesn't bring them up from the practice squad.
50:50They need to look a lot better than what they've been showing, though.
50:54And I think I like the Rondae Gadsden call it.
50:57I think he could be the one to do that, especially going up against Buffalo.
51:01Pass catchers you hate here. He's my tight end 14 this week.
51:0514? He's my tight end 14 this week. But I think he's a viable streamer.
51:09Yeah, he's my 17. All right. Terry McLaurin, how much did it hurt your heart to have to maybe downgrade him a little bit this week?
51:17I'm sorry about your quarterback. We just at least know that he's going to miss an extended period of time.
51:22Marcus Mariota is not bad, though, for what it's worth.
51:25But Terry McLaurin going up, also the matchup against my Seahawks.
51:29I'm sorry, Matthew. I won't text you after this game.
51:31But what are you looking at with this team as a whole and Terry McLaurin?
51:36Yeah, I'm going to put you on silent from like Saturday night till about, you know, Wednesday, just so you know, Kendall,
51:42in case you need to get a hold of me, go through my people.
51:46Yeah, it's less about Mariota because actually, you know, through the last eight games, this is one of like my 10 facts
51:53column, the 10 facts you need to know before week three.
51:56That column is up on fantasylife.com for free. So please go check that out.
52:00But one of the facts I talked about the fact is that, you know, with Marcus Mariota and the eight games they
52:06played together, he has like a 25% target share.
52:09So there is a good connection between Mariota and McLaurin.
52:12But the reason he makes the hate list is less about Mariota and more about, to your point, Kendall, your Seattle Seahawks.
52:18No team allows fewer fantasy points to opposing wide receivers than your Seattle Seahawks.
52:22Teams that face your Seattle Seahawks are averaging a league low 7.9 yards per reception.
52:26And my commanders have the lowest implied team total this week, just 17 points.
52:31I don't think there's going to be a lot of scoring.
52:34I think they're going to shut down Terry McLaurin.
52:36I have him outside my top 30 this week.
52:39Yeah, it's going to be brutal. Um, there's no other way around it.
52:43Like that's the only thing it's going to be brutal.
52:46I think the only play here, maybe that you look at is, is I guess digs over other receivers, but for Terry
52:52McLaurin, everyone's a downgrade, uh, Marcus Mariota, a good streamer though.
52:55If you need to go get a quarterback, I like him long-term more than maybe having to pick up Gino Smith for
53:02the next two weeks or, uh, someone else like drew lock.
53:05They might get, you know, Sam Darnold back in this game.
53:08So tough spot. I agree with you there. If I'm looking for a streaming quarterback this week, Mariota is not the answer.
53:14So I like Mariota as a streamer moving forward, but after this week I'd prefer drew lock against my commanders.
53:20I actually think Jameis Winston's going to have a good game with a full week of practice against the Titans.
53:26Last one here on the hate list. Cause we've got a minute 20 less just Roma dunes, a facing Philadelphia again, whether
53:32it's, um, whether it's case Keenum or Tyson Baygent, he's going to have to, you know, uh, play against, uh, Quinone Mitchell,
