2:05But anyway, before we get too far off the rails, we're here to talk about rookie rankings today.
2:12We're going to go through, run through this before training camp.
2:16Training camps are opening. By the time you see this training camps, a bunch of training camps will be open.
2:23But before we get into that, Coach Jeremiah, a man of many names and few principles.
2:28Wait. Anyway, how are you doing today? Hey, man, real happy.
2:32It's been middle of summer. We want real football to come back, and we need some tangible things.
2:38Getting teams into training camp players, we're actually going to get stimulus of news, of things happening, things that move ADP.
2:46I'm truly excited about it. I'm pumped because we've had plenty of gamut of all the takes since January, right?
2:53So here we are. We're approaching August, flying through the middle of July.
2:57I'm very excited. So, Shev, what do you got for us?
3:01Well, first and foremost, I'm getting stimulated in places that will pitch a tent if I'm not careful.
3:08Thinking about training camp opening up. This is, I couldn't be more excited.
3:12We've had to listen to all of these weird takes with not football happening.
3:17And then, eventually, we're going to go from not football happening to being inundated in the 24-hour news cycle with all of
3:25the football news that we could imagine. So, I put together a list.
3:29I'll share it. I'll share it in the Discord of Beat Reporters so we can just actually go directly to what the
3:37reports are saying instead of actually having to go and scroll through your feed and just seeing somebody just posting either AI
3:45slop or some sort of purported opinionated nonsense. It's not what someone said, but it gets represented that way.
3:51So, but rookie rankings, which is why we're here.
3:55There's, we're going to go through top 24, where our biggest discrepancies are, this, that, and the third.
4:01But we don't have to spend much time on who the 101, who's in tier one.
4:07It's just a one-man tier. You know, just get a little, let's get, we don't have to be weird about it.
4:14We don't spend much time there. Jeremiah Love. Cool name, I guess.
4:18Starts with a J, I'll allow it. But do you have anything that you want to say about the Cardinals running back
4:26with the most guaranteed money of all time? The only note on him is, look, Tyler Algier, where there's three touchdown games
4:34from the rush, one of those is going to go to Algier.
4:38On games where you think it's going to be two bankable touchdowns for Jeremiah Love, Tyler Algier is going to be there to split it.
4:47It will be frustrating. If Algier did it to B.
4:50John Robinson, he surely can do it to Jeremiah Love.
4:54Now, on an encouraging side, we will be watching and monitoring, Shev, James Connor, Trey Benson.
4:59Does one of them get cut? Does one of them get dealt to another team?
5:04We're especially on the James Connor watch. All things are still bullish for Jeremiah Love.
5:10That's the only fly in the ointment, not immediate outcome that we want.
5:14But I think we're going to get an excellent season and you still should select in redraft if he's in the third
5:22round and falling or in the startup price. Still pay those prices because we love Jeremiah Love.
5:28Yeah. I mean, it's outside of it being a crowded room to where you can't pretend like a Saquon Barkley-esque rookie season
5:36where he's just going to handle 370 touches. Outside of that, there's nothing that makes you think that this is not going
5:43to be a very dominant player for a very long time.
5:47We've known that he's the 101 basically since, I don't know, like November.
5:52November and we're weeks away from getting to see him practicing American tackle football and then playing American tackle football.
5:59So I'd spend too much time there, but we can move on.
6:03So you have a one man tier in tier two as well.
6:07Why don't you tell us about why that's that way?
6:11It's going to be Carnell Tate and I have him above and beyond, bed, bath and beyond Fernando Mendoza.
6:18Fernando Mendoza, I think he's going to start sooner.
6:21The Raiders have a five and a half win total that we covered on the AFC West show, Shev.
6:27And that tells me Lenz Credence to halfway through the season, Mendoza will at least be starting because they'll be out of contention.
6:35We're starting week 13 by at least week 14 on for the rest of the season.
6:41We'll get Mendoza. With all that said, Carnell Tate is running into possible perfect run out of 140, 150 targets in the ascending.
6:49Cam Ward tightens Brian Dayball offense. If we project Cam Ward, which we do, Shev, to ascend to the next tier to
6:57a higher power, it is going to be through the vessel of somebody like Carnell Tate.
7:02So I want him there and there's no questions about help.
7:06He's there on an island by himself and I have him wide receiver nine or 10.
7:12It's a Mekabuka who I put into wide receiver nine and then 10 is Carnell Tate.
7:18So I'm happy to have Carnell Tate. He's inside my top 12, Shev.
7:22So I've got him on an island in this bum rookie class by himself.
7:27I know he's your wide receiver one, Shev. Why isn't Carnell Tate in his own tier?
7:33And do you have him at the top of your next tier?
7:37So, yes. To answer your question, he is at the top of the tier.
7:42He is not in the tier by himself. And the reason being just all of the long-term dynasty propaganda, it being easiest to...
7:50Now, you know I'm a big believer in Fernando Mendoza, so I'll go into my tier two, which you very well explained why you have your guys here.
8:00But for me, there was no discernible difference between the consensus top three and then slightly lagging behind due to putrid quarterback
8:07play from my Nashville guy, Marcel Reed. Casey Concepcion lags a little bit further behind.
8:13However, with tier two here, we've got Carnell Tate, Fernando Mendoza, Jordan Tyson, and Makai Lemon.
8:18And the reason being, there was no... To me, Carnell Tate's the safest.
8:23If you're telling me a guy's going to come out and come out with Michael Thomas-esque first three seasons, 1,100 yards, 1,400
8:31yards, and just making the step as a professional, I could see that run out for Carnell Tate.
8:37And that's... And if he doesn't hit to the level of expectation, then you're looking at a guy who's probably going to be like 806 or 7.
8:46He's got the surest hands. And there's just the least amount of questions, especially with the pedigree and record of production that
8:54we're looking at from Ohio statewide receivers. And I hear...
8:58I've heard the Malik neighbors style of complaints where it's like, well, he wasn't even the one on his team.
9:05Buddy, go look through. Go look through the last five years and tell me a receiving core for Jeremiah Smith wouldn't be the number one.
9:13Leave that in the comments for us. So, all that being said, Carnell Tate is...
9:19Carnell Tate is phenomenal. I expect him to come out like gangbusters.
9:23But these other guys landed in some pretty phenomenal situations.
9:26Fernando Mendoza lands with Kubiak. They've rebuilt the offensive line.
9:30They have the greatest quarterback of all time as a minority owner.
9:34But he's actively... He's actively placing his opinions about how this quarterback situation should be brought about and how Fernando Mendoza should be groomed.
9:43I feel like I can say that he should be groomed.
9:46But also, I'm not sure... Yeah. I'm not sure if I should pick a different term.
9:52So... In the post-Diddy era. Yeah. In the post-Diddy era.
9:56I'm not sure... I'm not sure that I should be throwing that out there.
10:01But... The way that he's going to be brought along with his development, I just think that that's going to be best for him long term.
10:10And I want to get in... I want to get the entry point now as opposed to...
10:16As opposed to waiting to see the outcome confirmed.

11:09The ceiling here is pretty aggressive. I mean, you watch him move.
11:13The only issue... I mean, he would be most people's wide receiver one in the class if we weren't staring in the
11:21face of him missing 48% of his collegiate games.
11:24Various different injuries. There's nothing there that makes me think it's like degenerative or something.
11:29You know, it's not the same thing happening over and over again.
11:33It could just be a little bit of bad luck, but that's why he's where he is.
11:39And then closing out the tier, I have Makai Lemon.
11:43The most explosive in terms of yak ability. The guy who you can kind of...
11:48You pretend that he's going to go to the Eagles and be the wide receiver too.
11:54I think that. Where do you land on that?
11:57Where do you land with your outlook for Makai Lemon?
12:00Because I feel like the masses have generally cooled quite a bit on Makai Lemon.
12:06It's to a point now where you can go and acquire Makai Lemon and people aren't necessarily holding on to him so strongly.
12:14I would go and just fish to see if you can throw out some offers.
12:19I like Makai Lemon and Casey Concepcion. I've been pro Casey Concepcion above Makai Lemon.
12:24But the more I look at the two of the players, they're very similar.
12:29And one of the questions that I had about Casey Concepcion is, Hey, instead of Reed, Marcel Reed, and he had Jordan
12:37Maiava, then we get much better production from Casey Concepcion.
12:40Well, we have proof of concept, time on task, as you would say, Shev, with Makai Lemon balling out and showing the goods at USC.
12:49So we have to respect that game. So I have them neck and neck, and they're very much like players for me.
12:57Now, what's better in 2026? Is it Jalen Hurts throwing to Makai Lemon?
13:01Or is it the amalgamation of Deshaun Watson and Shador Sanders?
13:05I think things are getting better in Cleveland. Right now, I do have that lean towards Jalen Hurts.
13:12You'd rather Jalen Hurts facilitate. Problem being, though, I don't see the amount of throw volume being there as a number two
13:19option in Philadelphia in the event that it is Makai Lemon, which I think it's lining up to be.
13:26So I have Lemon. It's 5'6 Concepcion Lemon. To your point about Jordan Tyson, I've moved him up, Shev, just above Mendoza.
13:34And you're getting a lot of middle-of-the-field open, a lot of hype from the Saints, talking about what they want Jordan Tyson
13:41to do in the middle of the field. Talking about Tate with Cam Ward.
13:46What's going to happen with Tyler Shuck breaking out, Shev, is I see the ascendance when you see short, intermediate, and deep
13:54ball throwing being a staple where Tyler Shuck is just an all-around and the rushing.
13:59It's going to be a product of the fact that he has Jordan Tyson in tandem with Britsalave.
14:06And I read up the hamstring injury. It was real, but there was also scheduled maintenance on purpose, like no matter what
14:13was going to happen, almost like load management for Jordan Tyson earlier in the season.
14:19And now he's, right now, full healthy, full build, clean to go.
14:23And when you get to the real games being played, Shev, as we're talking about, as the goosebumps build and the blood
14:31gets flowing, you want him in your lineup. So I have moved him up to three.
14:36Now, Shev, with this little tier into the next tier, I have Jadarian Price on an island by himself because he's inflated,
14:44but he deserves to be by himself with a round one draft capital from the Seahawks.
14:50I have him seven overall, tier four by himself.
14:53Do you have him at the top of your next tier or is he on his own tier?
14:59How do you square away that moving down? So I have, I've made us, I've made some changes here.
15:06And, you know, before, before we were, were recording this episode, I was looking at it and I was like, man, I
15:13really, it was, I had Omar Cooper in here initially.
15:17So this is my tier three. Jeremiah, could you run through, go run through, just review us real quick, run through your
15:25tier, your tier three and where, and your solo tier four with Jadarian price, but give us your tier three again.
15:32Yep. So three tier three imports is Tyson Mendoza conception lemon.
15:36And then when you've been in your rookie drafts, one Oh seven, those first seven picks are so valuable.
15:43That seven is my tier four. Cause I've pieced together.
15:46I've got three one player tiers and that's where I divert from you.
15:51I've got Jeremiah love tier one Tate in his own tier in that little bunch between Tyson, all the way down to lemon, that four pack.
16:00And then Jadarian price seven on his own, because he's going to get opportunity.
16:05He's got the round run draft capital. It separates from Boston who I've risen up to eight Stowers and Antonio Williams in my fifth tier Jadarian price.
16:14Well, you're sneaky, you're sneaky stout, like a field hockey player right there.
16:19I, I, I like, I like what you're putting down.
16:22So my tier three goes Casey, right? Jadarian price, Kenyan Sadiq, Eli Stowers, close it out with the big riser.
16:29Denzel Boston at 10. And so what we've, we've espoused the praises of, of Casey Concepcion.
16:35You know, we don't have to spend too much time here.
16:39If you've listened to this, we've been accused of being homers because Jeremiah has a howtow.
16:44We've, we've done the, we've done the paces. Everybody got excited.
16:48Like we were excited and I apologize if this is off putting to anyone, but we were excited about Casey Concepcion the
16:56minute that the college football season ended. And then the crescendo built across the fantasy football community.
17:02Then he gets around one draft capital. As we've alluded to, we don't really have, we don't necessarily have the, the, the,
17:10the quarterback situation figured out with the Browns yet.
17:13But if it's just not league worst, like we don't have to sit through however many games it is a Dylan Gabriel,
17:21it's going to be better than it was last year.
17:24We can agree there. Right. Oh yeah. Yeah. And Denzel Boston, he's really shooting up the boards where he's on the heels of Casey conception.
17:33And it came out that the Browns tell me how relatable this is.
17:37And everyone listening in the comments share what this is like, you're in a draft and you have two players that you really want.
17:46And you're on a conundrum of which player do I pick and which player might come back to me when I have my next pick.
17:55When the Browns were up in round one for Casey conception, they had debated and they've talked up and this is all
18:02hindsight, of course, but they have talked up, Hey, we love all our children equally.
18:08Right. They talked up Denzel Boston at that pick as well.
18:11So to their surprise in their elation, they were able to get Denzel Boston in the next round.
18:18So it's funny enough, he's going to line up at X and I think he has the edge into wide receiver sets.
18:25Okay. Concepcion and Judy are going to have to fight out.
18:29I don't see I conception is going to be on the field, but I think it's just so solidified.
18:36The role that Boston plays is very unique to him.
18:40And that's going to give him leverage where he's not going to have many people behind the depth chart for his style of play.
18:48So I've got Denzel Boston moving up to eight.
18:51You said 10. So tell us about your bullish nature on Denzel Boston.
18:56Well, I mean, he was my, he was my wide receiver six pretty comfortably throughout the process.
19:02You know, one through five being pretty well known.
19:05Carnell take Jordan Tyson, Jordan Tyson, Makai Lemon, Casey conception, Omar Cooper, who we'll get to here in a second.
19:12And then Denzel Boston. So, but then he went out and had such a strong OTAs and we were able to get
19:20like visible confirmation of him dominating and using his skill set.
19:23The tools that he's been blessed with were on display during OTAs and training or mini camp, mandatory mini camp.
19:30So really excited about that. Jeremiah, why don't you hit us with your tier five?
19:36Since Jadarian Price is the one man tier and tier four for you.
19:40Yep. Lead us off with tier five and then I'll give you guys my tier four.
19:46It goes Denzel Boston, Eli Stowers and Antonio Williams.
19:49Boston being catapulted up. He's moved up ahead of Stowers.
19:53I love Stowers. He's somebody who I've seen go 108, 107 sometimes throughout different pockets of rookie drafts.
19:59But as we're getting closer to these games being played in impact and you've got Dallas Scottard out there in the way
20:07you don't have much of anybody in the way of Denzel Boston as I spoke to before.
20:13So I've got him right at the top of that tier.
20:16How about you, Shev? Yeah, my tier four kicks off.
20:20I've got Omar Cooper, who's unfortunately been moved down just because he's a victim of being, being, having to play in the middle ends and with the Jets.
20:30Then it gets a little spicy here because I go Chris Bell.
20:34So Chris Bell was one of my, one of my favorite receivers, just a great catch and run guy in the second most vacated.
20:42I couldn't believe this when I, when I read it, the, the, the Pittsburgh Steelers actually have more vacated targets in the Miami Dolphins.
20:51Does that seem believable to you? Is did Kenneth Gainwell just like take every single one there was with him?
20:58It's just Kenneth Gainwell's departure. Kenneth Gainwell's departure mixed with John who Smith's departure mixed with Arthur Smith's departure, Arthur out Arthur bin Laden.
21:06He's going to, we're going to say Arthur Algeo.
21:09I started to, yeah, I started to say Arthur Al Smith, but Arthur bin Laden feels like feel, feel just feel so much more right.
21:18But yeah, going back to, going back to my tier four, Omar Cooper, Chris Bell, Ty Simpson, Antonio Williams, Ted Hurst, closing out the tier four.
21:27We now your tier five. I didn't, did I hear Chris Bell's name?
21:32No. And that's where this is a fun diversion because I love Chris Bell.
21:37The bell rings for him. You love Chris Bell.
21:40I've had Chris Bell up there where you had him late round one, but I'm sitting here, Shev thinking, and he's in my next tier, tier six.
21:50He's at 15 for me. So he's now get them in round two.
21:54And I don't even think you have to pay that price.
21:58So I'm at the point where there's how I feel my sentiment on these players and then where market should shift.
22:05So I have moved Chris Bell down because we're getting news that he's going to start on the pup.
22:12Somewhat predictable, but tangible. You know, it's a real, there's a real stimulus there and I cannot justify.
22:18And here's my list of players in the next tier, because you mentioned a couple of them, Ty Simpson, Jonah Coleman, who
22:26has moved up to 12, which we might have a discrepancy there.
22:30You can mention him. Omar Cooper there at 13, who you love.
22:34We love Kenyon Sadiq at 14, Bell 15. And then where I go crazy away from you, I've got DeMond Claiborne, who
22:42I might even be able to slide higher than Chris Bell at 16.
22:47I am loving DeMond Claiborne. So Shev, give me the breakdown on how you feel about what I said, the diversion between
22:54Chris Bell for us, the diversion between Jonah Coleman and this diversion between DeMond Claiborne.
23:00Well, the pup news is certainly not what you're looking for when you want to confirm the way that you felt about a player.
23:08But we know that this is, this could be a slower run out potentially for Chris Bell.
23:14Maybe he starts on the pup. Maybe he comes off after, you know, after a couple of weeks.
23:20I'm not sure where he is in the timeline.
23:24I saw somewhere that he was already running like 20 miles an hour.
23:28So this could just kind of be a precautionary thing until he can pass the conditioning test or whatever the case may be.
23:36But you said some wild stuff there where you, you got, I started off as the Claiborne guy.
23:43I don't know if you guys stopped in the middle of the road and like, you know, an angel came down and
23:50spoke to you about what DeMond Claiborne is going to do this year.
23:55But tell me, tell me what led you to the flippening where you brought DeMond Claiborne up from the ashes.
24:02Six round. This is six round running back rookie on the Minnesota Vikings.
24:06I guess I could do a better job as a host of telling you where these guys went.

27:05to just kind of move out of the way.

27:12And this guy, DeMond Claiborne, is here to take the job from Aaron Jones.
27:16Skill set archetype-wise, I think it's going to be Claiborne for Jones and a mix of Mason.
27:22Now, we did see an ex-post out today, Shev, about, hey, if he just gets the playbook, pass blocking, and following his
27:30assignments and picking up the offense, DeMond Claiborne is going to be great.
27:35Okay, so it sounds like he has to overcome every hurdle that every rookie has.
27:40But as I'm going through here and down to our 24, our top 24 rankings, right, Shev?
27:46Do I want the upside case of DeMond Claiborne or Jacoby Lane?
27:50The blurriness of Elijah Surratt, who's fighting off Jacoby Lane.
27:54They're going to buoy Surratt and Lane, somebody like Zay Flowers, up real NFL football.
27:59But I want DeMond Claiborne. Upside wins championships, right?
28:02Jeremy Bernard is not moving the needle right now.
28:05Nicholas Singleton in that committee in Tennessee, which, you know, you don't have to bash your Titans, Shev.
28:12I'll just say there's still some problems that they got to fix, right?

28:27Ted Hurst, it's murky in that offense. We're high in Emeka Abuka this year.
28:32It just gets me each time as I'm sliding up, I'm like, hey, you know what?
28:38I want DeMond Claiborne every time. Now for you, you've got him lower.
28:42Do you have any inclination, Shev, to pull Claiborne up or do you keep him at that spot?
28:48And where do you have DeMond Claiborne? So right now I have DeMond Claiborne.
28:53I have DeMond Claiborne at 33. And I feel like that was somewhat aggressive.
28:58I think people were getting a little sharp. Uh, I'm personally, I'm just playing it a little bit tighter to the vest.
29:06I have a little bit, maybe a little bit of PTSD from my Brashard Smith proclamations of last year.
29:13And that just completely blowing up in my face.
29:16But this is a, this is a much clearer path to opportunity for DeMond Claiborne.
29:21Neither one of the running backs in Minnesota are under contract after 2026.
29:26Aaron Jones, Aaron Jones was hurt, started to show signs of decline.
29:30And Jordan Mason just, while he does missed, you know, force missed tackles and, you know, turn over some sort of a
29:38decent, you know, decent, uh, in terms of turnover success rate.
29:42Uh, in, in terms of his yards per carry, I just don't, I don't think he's it.
29:47But this is the type of nuke that we're looking for if you're talking about upside.
29:53And if he does gain the trust of a guy like Kevin O'Connell, if he's got KOC's trust and he's going to
30:01be a 200 to 270 touch guy with the type of juice that he has, he's going to be a steal.
30:08And in, in your rookie drafts, I mean, just looking at, looking at the board where he's coming off right now, he's at the 306.
30:17Right. So get your guy in round three, right.
30:20He's in that territory. And it's what we've been saying.
30:24So I, I love the fact that you're calling your shot on a guy that we, we started the process.
30:31We started the process really high on, and we've got, we've got a landing spot.
30:36The, the door is just cracked open from what we, Hey, Hey, you calm down there.
30:42You calm down. I heard the word. I heard the word.
30:45You're right. You're right. No more crack talk. No more crack talk.
30:50No plumbers around, around these parts. But the door is just slightly open.
30:54Not to say it's just slightly ajar. It's the jar.
30:58All right. Then for, for a demand Claiborne breakout, but why don't you, why don't, why don't you go in your next tier?
31:06Is that tier six or tier seven for you?
31:09Oh man. Well, I did, I did read off the Simpson to Claiborne.
31:14So now we're at tier seven and this will put us through to 24 Shev.
31:19And then, and let me know what you think about this.

31:32It's Ted Hearst at 17. Chris Brazil in one last note on Claiborne.
31:37If this were any less of a crappy class, if this weren't such a poor class, we would not see them on
31:45Claiborne this high, but I'm starting to feel it there.
31:48But again, from the top, Ted Hearst, Chris Brazil, Nicholas Singleton, Jeremy Bernard.
31:53And here's where it gets murky, but I've moved these three up.
31:57Zachariah Branch. Don't love them, but I'm a little in line to market in 21 overall.
32:03And then Surratt and Lane, the Ravens receivers. I think they're going to be better for NFL, not so much fantasy.
32:10And I think it's smart to just tier them together until one of them separates each other, both in fantasy and in real life.
32:18And then Justin Jolie, Haltel regardless, Wolfpack Let's Go, Titan Premium, just an upside player, get your guy season.
32:25And you can get him, look, this is 24.
32:28You can get him in round three, just about.
32:31If you're in a draft with Shev, God knows I've been in mocks and startups and rookie drafts with you where one
32:39of us has come away with Jolie and the other hasn't.
32:43And a lot of the times it's about 100 percent the two of us in all the leagues that we're in together.
32:51Yes. It's been it's been really it's been really fun to, you know, a lot of the rookie a lot of the
32:59rookie drafts and a few like a couple of the startups, I believe that we've done together.
33:04Like, hey, all right. I'm at the point now where I have to I have to do this because you got me
33:12on RJ Harvey a couple of times last year.
33:15And I was like, OK, we're at the point now where I absolutely have to do this or I'm going to be
33:23really upset that I didn't get Justin Jolie. So to go back to my my tier five is just a short tier
33:31and I'll run through these really quickly. We've got Jeremy Bernard coming in at 16 to kick off the tier.
33:38I wish if. I wish that we had a quarterback that didn't hate rookies because Jeremy Bernard is the type of guy
33:46that could that could be an absolute nuke. He's dynamic with the ball in his hands.
33:51He's got the route running the route running new and savvy that really make you that make you feel like there's a
33:59there's a potential there that somewhat that seems somewhat untapped that could be unlocked at the next level while being a really good collegiate player.
34:08Jonah Coleman. Jonah Coleman. You love Jonah Coleman. I love Jonah Coleman.
34:12We love Jonah Coleman. And then the biggest riser throughout this whole process.
34:16Deshaun Stribling at 18 to close out that tier and then I'll just read the rest of my my tier six.
34:24It gets us to 24. We've got Katron Allen, Emmitt Johnson, Kalen Black, Brennan Thompson, Justin Jolie.
34:30And then I did something a little radical here.
34:33I've moved Caleb Douglas into my top 24. So, yeah.
34:36So just for the podcast listeners, again, tier five for me, Jeremy Bernard, Jonah Coleman, Deshaun Stribling.
34:42Tier six. Katron Allen, Emmitt Johnson, Kalen Black, Brennan Thompson, Justin Jolie and Caleb Douglas.
34:48So where do you want to where do you want to start there?
34:52Because I feel like I've got a little bit.
34:55I'm a little I'm always anti consensus. But what what what stood out the most to you there?
35:02Well, let's go with. Cool. Cool. How far along we've come where we had the sleeper episode and one of my sleepers
35:10was Caleb Douglas and he got insane draft capital ahead of Chris Bell.
35:14So I've got him. I have it's funny. You were so high on Clayborne and now I'm up here.
35:21I was high on Douglas. And now you're all the way up with Douglas.
35:26I have respectively Brennan Thompson, 37, Caleb Douglas, 38.
35:29So, Shep, can you talk to your bullish nature on Brennan Thompson, who you listed and Caleb Douglas, you have packed into
35:37your top 24 where I I have them further down.
35:40So for me, it goes to I don't know what it is.
35:44Maybe I have a kink in its Los Angeles Chargers draft calls because last year I just screamed from the high heavens
35:52that, hey, this is not a normal. This is not a normal fifth round draft call for a Rondé Gaston.
35:59Now, this is the only time I want to talk about a Rondé Gaston on the episode.
36:05But for Brennan Thompson, this was the guy. And yes, we did have Mike McDaniel pestering his GM about drafting Malik Washington back in the day.
36:14And that hasn't come to fruition yet. It might come this year.
36:18But Brennan Thompson was the fastest receiver in the draft.
36:22I believe he ran the fastest 40 of all players in the draft.
36:26And it's not just so there's guys that are that are just track fast, that test fast.
36:32When you turn on his tape, he understands how to threaten DBs and put them in a position where they have to
36:40not only anticipate what he's going to do, but allow him the comfortability of, hey, we're not going to press you because
36:48we know that you can just run straight by you, run straight by us.
36:53And he gets paired with one of the, excuse me, the guy who just basically cemented Tyreek Hill's legacy as an all
37:00decade potential Hall of Fame player with Mike McDaniel.
37:04That's who Mike McDaniel has compared him to. Now, it's lofty, lofty praise and expectations and maybe some coach slop speak.
37:11Not quite not not the true coach speak, but coach slop where they, you know, everybody gets a little too excited, starts foaming at the mouth.
37:20It gets weird a little bit. But for me, Brennan Thompson represents a guy who has that rare ability to accelerate while tracking the ball over his shoulder.
37:30And that's something that that's a that's a level of that's a level of football intelligence and ability.
37:36That's just not something you see every day. So I think Brennan Thompson, maybe he just plays the field stretcher sacrificial, you know, sacrificial coverage gravity guy.
37:46But maybe Justin Herbert just decides to launch, like just use the howitzer that he's been blessed with by the football gods
37:53and just throw the ball as far as he can to see what Brennan Thompson can do with it.
38:00And I've just been having these aggressive visions for a while.
38:04So, yeah, he's here. And then Caleb Douglas, I there's the second most vacated targets in the NFL.
38:10No question about that. But we he got the best draft capital of all of the past catchers and he offers a completely unique skill set.
38:19If you watch his tape at Texas Tech, he's consistently using that big size and frame to win contested catch situations.
38:27He's got a little bit of ankle flexibility and hip flexibility to get in and out of breaks for a guy who's six, four running four, three.
38:36So we have these we have this archetype of receiver that no one else kind of matches.
38:42And we we know that the team thought well of him, which is why they took him 75th overall in the draft.
38:50So for me, I took heed to what you were saying about, hey, look, he got really good draft capital.
38:57He's a really good athlete. I watched the tape.
39:00I like the tape. I didn't I wasn't I wasn't head over heels.
39:05I wasn't in love, but I appreciate what he brings.
39:08And this is a wide open system. So whereas we have questions about Jacoby Lane, questions about Elijah Surratt and how they fit.
39:16There's no question about what Caleb, Caleb Douglas can do and how he could impact this offense and the like the the apparent opportunity.
39:25Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. And one thing that goes on with Caleb Douglas is the dimensions of the football field.
39:33It's a blessing to the defensive back because Caleb Douglas would absolutely dust them.
39:38My finer point on Caleb Douglas is, you know, the ball will get knocked out of his hands in the red zone
39:46like he'll catch it and he'll just get punched out.
39:49Little stuff like that. Focus and attention to detail.
39:53Nuance. He could work on right with Brendan Thompson.
39:56That's where we're just on a different map. I just see him being.
40:00A little bit for fantasy purposes, ending up being a gimmick player for us to where one week he hits another week.
40:08He doesn't the week you start him. You never know when is right for Brendan Thompson seats for chair scenario with the
40:16Chargers where you're just not going to get week over week reliability.
40:20And then in turn, season over season reliability. That's where I have Brendan Thompson still down.
40:26So I like the idea, though, of hearing somebody like you say, hey, the light is on for Brendan Thompson.
40:33And I do love hearing the light is on for Caleb Douglas.
40:37For right now, I'm going to keep them lower.
40:40But there is kind of a neat wrinkle. Hey, we're watching and it's week five.
40:45Are they putting up more games good than bad games?
40:49So it'll be fun to see. Yeah, man. And, you know, for those of you just kind of wondering, I did not
40:56have Chris Brazil in my top 24. Jeremiah had him at 18.
41:01I had him at I have him at 30.
41:04I still think that it's it's the big pineapple.
41:07And, you know, I'm a I've been a coke head since the coke head since before it was cool to be a coke head.
41:15And now we're actually getting the getting the outcome confirmed because he got the contract.
41:21OK, so you can just shut up with this.
41:24This is nonsense about how he's better than Jalen.
41:27I won't have it. OK, and then for me, I know you had you know, you had Elijah Surratt and Jacoby Lane 21 and 23 respectively.
41:36And I have them at well, I moved them outside of the top 24.
41:41And yeah, Zachariah Branch, I deny till I die.
41:44We'll just you'll have to fantasy receipts me. Oh, well.
