0:00Are all batteries the same? That's like asking if all soccer players are the same.
0:05Take Messi, the most decorated player ever. Is there any other player who has achieved that?
0:10No, just him. Now take Duracell. Is there any other battery with Power Boost ingredients inside?
0:15No, just Duracell. Remember, goats only trust goats because they're built different and Messi only trusts Duracell.

0:48The Decision Point is back. You're back. You look great, man.
0:51We have a lot to talk about the business of the NFL, how it affects fantasy football and the clear and obvious
0:58first topic to discuss today is Brendan Sorsby. Brendan Sorsby.
1:02Brendan Sorsby. Brendan Sorsby. I have to admit, I wasn't that familiar with the person that is Brendan Sorsby a month ago.
1:09But boy, oh boy, do I know who this guy is now.
1:13It's like he's the player, the athlete that I'm thinking about the most right now.
1:17And I think that's kind of bullshit. I'm kind of pissed that this is a topic of conversation.
1:23This is what we're talking about in June, that this is what people are talking about in Dynasty Leagues.
1:29I can't believe this asshole is sucking all the oxygen out of the room.
1:34I mean, first of all, Matt, good to see you.
1:37Long time no see. It's a weird thing, right?
1:40We have nothing to talk about right now as training camp gets ramped up.
1:44So I think this story is taken on a mind of its own further.
1:49We haven't had a supplemental draft pick since I think, what, 2019?
1:53It was the Cardinals. It's been a long time since we've had any situation like this.
1:58Obviously, famously Terrell Pryor, Josh Gordon, former supplemental draft picks.
2:01I think both of those guys went for second rounders.
2:04But this is a unique case because it's not like he was really fighting the NCAA as much as he was fighting public perception.
2:12Like if you're an NFL team taking a stab at Swarsby, it's not like he's a situational wide receiver.
2:18It's not like he's, you know, potential just another guy on the roster like this is a quarterback.
2:24If all breaks right for you, this is the face of your franchise that we're talking about here.
2:30So excited to get into it, man. It's a very weird scenario that I didn't ever think we'd see in real life.
2:37Like I can't believe we're talking about him as a potential supplemental draft pick.
2:42I can't believe we're talking about him as an NFL player, period.
2:45But I mean, what you'll hear from people all across the spectrum, you'll hear this guy is worth the risk.
2:52You'll hear this is something that I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole.
2:56What up, Dave? Brendan Sorsby, Brendan Sorsby, Brendan Sorsby, Brendan Sorsby, Brendan Sorsby, Brendan Sorsby, Brendan Sorsby.
3:02So just to make sure everyone is on the same page with us, Brendan Brendan Sorsby was accused and later admitted to
3:09betting on sports, betting on college football with the league he was playing in, and finally betting on his own team.
3:15Yes, that's the cardinal sin. You don't do that.
3:18No matter what else you do, you don't do that, right?
3:22We've had players accused of murder. We've had players.
3:25That's the one thing that there's been a hard line on.
3:28You do not do this and ever get a shot.
3:32There's no shot, right? We are 12 years removed from Roger Goodell saying gambling in fantasy football or hand-in-hand.
3:38You can't play fantasy football. You can't go to a show if you're a QB.
3:43Sorry, Tony Romo. You're not going to Vegas. We're 12 years from that to now.
3:47Now, Brendan Soresby was once cleared in court to play potentially this season.
3:52Texas Tech finally takes the heat. The Big 12 outmaneuvers them in a court of law, and they say, shove it.
3:58We will basically cancel your existence as an athletic program.
4:02And so obviously they pull back and they say, hey, Brendan, sorry you can't suit up for us no matter what the court said.
4:09And here we are. So now you have a quarterback that most people had, you know, third, fourth round grade on that
4:16is a pretty decent football player at Cincinnati. And, you know, anybody that's garnering NFL attention as a QB particularly means you're probably a pretty good player.
4:25Now, that being said, you're at Cincinnati, dog. Like this is the Big 12.
4:30And, you know, take that step up. That's why he wanted to go to Texas Tech, right?
4:35You know, he wanted that next level competition, potentially play for a national title.
4:40You know, Dante Moore, obviously going back to Oregon was a big story and a big domino shift there.
4:46But I think, you know, had he come out, you know, when quarterbacks typically come out, there were people, you know, in
4:53a week QB class, he might have gone at the end of the first round, even though he had a third, fourth
5:00round grade because, you know, people get desperate. And that's what happens at the end of the first round in the NFL draft.
5:07We see it every year. He should have just came out.
5:11This is the weird part. He should have just came out.
5:14It's not like he was a young man. He's already had four years in the league, two at Indiana, two at Cincinnati.
5:22Just come out. And the thing is, no matter what it is, you can't bet on your own team.
5:28You cannot do it. That's the one hard line in the sand, right?
5:32There's prediction markets and the NFL's in bed with gambling, all kinds of stuff going on there, right?
5:38But you take a look at this and you ask yourself the following question.
5:42Is the discount on this player that you're going to get because he's a supplemental draft pick, right?
5:48You take this player. Let's say he's great, right?
5:51Let's say he's Dak Prescott level good out the gate.
5:54He's still the face of your franchise. You are a multi-billion dollar organization with a guy that checked himself into gambling rehab less than two months ago.
6:03This is crazy. If this all works out, this is best case scenario.
6:07What you're telling me is someone that did a 30-day inpatient program that has gambling problems that stretched back well over a half decade, right?
6:15Where he's Venmoing people, where multiple schools have been involved from Indiana to Cincinnati.
6:20He's Venmoing people for this and Venmoing people for that.
6:23There are bets that he placed on his own.
6:26He's betting on his own team. At some point, we have to ask the question, what is worth it here?
6:32Even if he hits, is it worth it? Is it worth asking the question every time he turns the ball over?
6:39Ah, is he juicing the spread this week? Every single time that he hands the ball off the wrong direction, right?
6:46Turns to his left instead of his right. Every time that he takes an extra step here, there, everywhere.
6:52We have people scrutinizing every drop back of every QB in sports right now.
6:56You're going to add this to that and hope that he's worth it?
7:00There is no draft pick available, period, that I would even consider.
7:04Now, again, there are people in the league when it all costs.
7:08He will get drafted in the supplemental draft. There's no doubt in my mind about it.
7:13Because the bets he placed were on his own team to win.
7:17Oh, I mean, we can spin it however we want.
7:20No, no, there are. I know there are NFL equity holders who love to bet and they love the idea of someone betting on themselves.
7:29He took that a little too literally. You don't do that.
7:32But he did. He took it literally. This is what they're going to say.
7:37This is what they go all the act. Technically, he just he was he was putting more pressure on himself.
7:43He had a more of a stake in the wind than anybody on the team.
7:48There's there's you can hear that. You could hear that.
7:51I just want to take a step back as you did.
7:55You took a step back. We're taking another step back just to process for a moment how wild this is.
8:01This whole situation is mind blowing. It is absolutely the product of where the culture has moved the last five years.
8:08Gambling used to be stigmatized and then Vegas became an amusement park.
8:12Sports betting was still stigmatized. And then LeBron starts to promote draft kings.
8:16And it's like, OK, LeBron's promoting draft kings. What are we even doing?
8:20I guess I guess there's in that scenario, there's no foundation from which you could build an argument against making sports betting ubiquitous.
8:28If LeBron's the spokesman. I mean, who is the most ubiquitous sportsman in the world?
8:32Well, Messi. But after Messi, Ronaldo and a couple of these soccer players were watching in the World Cup, it's LeBron.
8:39So this is the place that we're in where there were people at Texas Tech on it who thought Swarsby was going to be playing for them.
8:48Yeah. Yeah. They actually thought that they thought that, oh, there was an injunction granted by a judge.
8:54Therefore, he's going to be under center for us.
8:57Let's go ahead and project a couple extra wins for the Red Raiders this year.
9:01Yay. I mean, I'm sure boosters got to get I'm sure.
9:05There was a group of boosters that got together and, you know, had a party or at least or at least at least a toast to Brendan Sorsby.
9:14Right. I'm sure they did. They toasted him and they said, oh, it's going to be a great year for Texas Tech football this year.
9:22And it's like, think it through. Think strategically about what's going to happen if he's on the team.
9:28How will other schools react? Right. How will the campus react?
9:31How will the teammates react? You just just think it through, think it through.
9:36And then you're like, OK, I could see I could see him winning over the fans and the student body.
9:42OK, I can see him winning over his teammates.
9:45OK, but it stops at you are a member of an organization of football teams and athletic programs.
9:51And they're not the steps will be taken to prevent you from ever rolling this guy out and having him take a
9:58snap from under center or from shotgun with Texas Tech.
10:01They will ban the school. Athletic directors will remove all Texas Tech games from all schedules across all sports.
10:08And then every member of every team is going to be lining up at the door of the athletic director saying, you need to fix this.
10:16And the only solution is Brendan Soresby will never step foot on Texas Tech.
10:20He'll never throw a pass for Texas Tech. He'll never see the locker room inside Texas Tech.
10:26It was never going to happen regardless of what the judge ordered.
10:30Who cares? You're part of a community. You're part of an organization.
10:34You're part of a larger collective. And that would never happen.
10:37And yet now he's going to go professional. And historically, that's never been allowed.
10:42No. Right? No. Players, professional players openly betting on sports has never been allowed.
10:46In fact, they're the biggest sports scandals in the history of American sports.
10:50The Black Sox scandal. Shoeless Joe Jackson. Shoeless Joe Jackson is looking around right now going, holy shit.
10:56Yeah. He's like, I can't believe this. He is shaking his head.
11:00That's probably one of the most despondent people in heaven or in the great beyond, wherever they are.
11:06Yeah. Right? He has to be despondent. Like, I don't know if when you go to another place after death, if there
11:13are days and nights, if you sleep or not, I have no idea how it works.
11:18But if they do sleep, right? If dead people, right?
11:21If their souls sleep every day, that soul wakes up.
11:25He's like, I can't believe it. I camp every morning.
11:28I can't believe they're doing this with Sorsby. Do you realize?
11:31I mean, I'm sure it's an obsession. Every time he gets together with his friends, let's say it's heaven.
11:38Shoeless Joe, you're in heaven. I don't know if he was a bad guy.
11:42Personally, I have no idea. Let's just say he found a way to get into heaven.
11:47He's in heaven. He's hanging out with his friends in heaven.
11:51And, you know, hatless Larry or whatever. And he's like, can you believe it?
11:55And they're like, hey, man, that's all you've been talking about is a Sorsby guy for the last three weeks.
12:02You've got to knock it off. Let's pick any other topic.
12:05He's like, I can't believe it. Do you realize what they did to me?
12:10And then Pete Rose is like, I can't believe the times we live in right now.
12:15And so I just think that it's so jarring.
12:18And it's such a departure from social rules and norms that I still, just like I had a hard time believing he
12:25would ever see the field at Texas Tech. There's a part of me because I'm a boomer that I can't actually project
12:32in my mind the vision of him playing. This episode is brought to you by Google Chrome.

13:34Someone will take a risk. Somebody that's desperate that has nothing to lose on the field, at least.
13:40I mean, we had a team trade for Deshaun Watson famously, right?
13:44Like there's a there's a lot going on here.
13:46There are varying levels of insanity to this story, right?
13:50One is that he's in the supplemental draft and is available to be drafted, right?
13:55Goodell should strike that down immediately. That's my opinion.
13:57The NFL has the option to hold a supplemental draft or not.
14:01My understanding is this is 100% an optional step that the NFL can take to allow a player to play in their league this year.
14:09There's I don't think this is there's no collective bargaining element to this where it's been agreed upon that if or is
14:16this like a is this like a U.S. labor law?
14:20Where does this come from, this idea of the supplemental draft and that it's necessary?
14:25So basically, the idea is players that missed the deadline to apply for the original draft for whatever reason.
14:31Sometimes it's suspension. Sometimes it's, you know, eligibility exhaustion, whatever the case is.
14:35Obviously, this is a very unique case in that he still does have eligibility for college, but not necessarily anywhere to go.
14:42So as far as the labor law and that side of it goes, I have no idea.
14:47And the reason I have no idea is basically because a court in Texas said, well, NCAA, you have no power here.
14:55He can do whatever the fuck he wants. The real issue here is that the NCAA has no agency to do anything in court.
15:02They get curb stomped every time they go. That's that's the real issue here.
15:07But overalls, right? But in this one case, the NFL could basically say to Brendan, hey, dude, take your off.
15:13Prove to us that you've changed. Go into the 2027 draft.
15:17They are not doing that. And instead, it's now a situation where some would say it's the best of both worlds.
15:24I don't I think I read something yesterday that Texas Tech isn't asking for his NIO money back.
15:29So the man made five million dollars. You know, that was the reported number to show up on campus for a couple
15:36minutes, get his rehab paid for and then go to the NFL.
15:40Like this is all of this is totally unprecedented.
15:43And I remember we were you and I weren't close yet, but I'm here.
15:48I'm sure you remember when Christian McCaffrey opted out of a bowl game and it was the end of the world right now.
15:55Yes. Yes. Right. So the question becomes, is this truly a one off thing?
16:00Because we know he's not the only player doing this work.
16:03There is no way that of every player in Division One college football that he is the only one doing this now,
16:10he's the first one to be caught. The only reason he went is because he was going to get caught.
16:17They knew someone had information about what was going on here.
16:20And now the question becomes if you're an NFL team, right?
16:24Let's say it's let's say it's the Eagles, right?
16:27How he's pretty sharp, loves to get a value, right?
16:30Let's say that the bidding goes to he goes for like a fifth round pick.
16:35Well, he's better than a fifth round player. Clearly, he's better than what you would typically find in the fifth round, especially QB.
16:42So how he takes a shot at him. The question that I have is if you are someone else in the media, right?
16:50This isn't really our lane of talking, but if you're someone else in the media and Jalen Hurts starts to throw three to four really bad interceptions, right?
16:59And it's it's to the point where like there was that Carson Wentz, Jalen hurts like Carson's doing so poorly that we
17:06might have to give Jalen a shot. Are you really going to give Brendan Sorsby that shot?
17:11Are you telling me right now, objectively speaking, that you would feel comfortable putting him on the field in 2026?
17:18Sure. It may be last ditch effort. It may be the he's the fourth string emergency QB.
17:23Kendall Hinton started a game for the Broncos and he was a wide receiver.
17:28There's a lot of we've had a lot of weird things happen in the NFL, but I'm saying if you are a
17:35owner of a billion plus dollar franchise, are you letting that guy represent you in any manner on the field?
17:41Because it's one thing to take two to three years and let him sort through his demons and whatnot.
17:47We are talking about this came out in April.
17:50This came out in March, right? Like we're not even three months away from the start point of this.
17:56What are we talking about here? This is insane.
17:59I can't believe that there are people discussing, oh, he would have gone for a first round pick.
18:05Yeah, but totally different scenario now, right? Like back in the day, we had a obviously different scenario.
18:11Greg Hardy established NFL veteran, right? Gets accused of horrible domestic violence, eventually signs a contract.
18:16Brett Favre at this point, known pill popper never got caught for it, but it was well known, right?
18:22He comes out, puts out a memoir about it, all this stuff.
18:26But again, already established NFL player. Do you read that memoir?
18:30I read pieces of it, but I was good.
18:33It didn't keep me long. Can't be good. But you look at all these things, right?
18:38And you're sitting there and saying there's a track record of he can play here.
18:43We don't even know that we are hoping that he might be a capable NFL quarterback.
18:48We don't even know that much at this point.
18:51And what you're telling me is you might be blackballed forever as an NFL franchise for taking a shot on this guy.
18:58Now, again, we've covered this at nauseam on our show.
19:01Atlanta has avoided all flack for their pursuit of Deshaun Watson, right?
19:05Because they weren't the ones to actually get him.
19:08That's wow. Talk about memory lane. Other teams in the FBS would have grabbed Brendan Sorsby, probably would have done what tech did.
19:15They were just the ones caught holding the grenade when it went off.
19:19That's right. If you're the NFL, you know. There's no guessing.
19:23Now you know what the fallout is going to be.
19:26You know what people are going to say about your organization and what you're essentially condoning here.
19:32I cannot believe that there are people like, well, you know, Brendan Sorsby, you know, for the value that you could get him.
19:39Yeah. Great value. If you can get him in the fourth round of the supplemental draft, that's great value.
19:45The question that I have is, is he playable?
19:48Can you actually put him out there? Because if you can't, then it's a wasted draft pick.
19:53You're buying the shirt that's a size and a half too small, hoping that one day you lose the 25 pounds to fit into it.
20:02It sat in the back of your closet for four years.
20:05What are we doing here? If you don't think that you can actually play him, that at some point he will actually
20:12be able to play in the NFL. I just, I don't understand if you're Roger, first of all, he's got to go on the exempt list immediately.
20:21There's how long is up to them. But secondly, this has been a lifetime ban thing, right?
20:26The players that got bounced right for months at a time.
20:30I think it was six to eight games for most of them were caught betting on baseball games within an NFL stadium, within their hotels.
20:38That's the precedent here. Now you're telling me a guy has bet on his own team.
20:43No way. I personally do not think that he should ever play.
20:47Do with that as you see fit. But I can't believe that someone will actually hand the keys to him of an
20:54NFL franchise and say, all right, kid, go. You got the help.
20:58Go. I don't see it. He has not yet had a 3,000-yard season, even though he's had two straight seasons with 12 games started at Cincinnati.
21:06His completion percentage actually went down from 64% to 61.5%.
21:10His TD to interception ratio, though, went up. And that's the best thing he has going for him in terms of his resume.
21:1726 touchdowns, five interceptions in his last season at Cincinnati with 580 yards rushing.
21:21So he takes care of the football. He makes plays.
21:25And he can extend drives with his legs. That guy's a day-to pick all day.
21:30Okay, that guy's a day-to pick without the baggage.
21:32He's at least a second-round pick. Would he make it into the first round?
21:37I believe he would have this year. Ty Simpson was a top 15 pick.
21:41And that's his closest comp. Don't remind me. Yeah, that's his closest comp.
21:46Top 15 pick. Would Ty Simpson have been drafted in the first round in 2027?
21:51Unknown. There are so many great quarterbacks. We're not sure how many of them are going to enter the draft.
21:57We're assuming Arch Manning and others. But there are players that have additional years of eligibility beyond 2027.
22:03And they could opt to come back just like Dante Moore did.
22:07Yeah. But there is a world where there's such an influx of elite quarterback prospects in 2027 that Sorsby, even without a
22:14gambling addiction, would have not been a first-rounder. Those saying he's a first-rounder, that is a projection.
22:19But the thing is, there was a quarterback from Cincinnati, and his name was Ritter.
22:24Remember him? Oh, yeah. Right? Desmond Ritter. Went to Atlanta.
22:27Desmond Ritter's year, there were a number of quarterbacks projected to go first round.
22:32Do you remember this? Yeah. Malik Willis. I can go down the board.
22:36Do you remember a guy named Shudder Sanders? Right?
22:39There's a lot of quarterbacks that are projected to go first round, and they never sniff the first round.
22:45Especially in a super deep class, this guy's profile is not a first-rounder.
22:49He's not. So stop calling him a first-rounder, a projected first-rounder.
22:53That's not what he is. If he's a quarterback, if he's a quarterback, if he's a quarterback, if he's a quarterback, and
23:00he throws like 4,000 yards, and he has like a 40 to 8 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and runs for about 500 yards, and
23:07leads them to the college football playoffs, and all these things happen, right?
23:11Then, yes, very much first-rounder is in his range of outcomes.
23:15But he would have had to play this year and play at a high level that is vastly better, higher level of
23:22production than what you saw for two consecutive years at age 20 and age 21 at Cincinnati.
23:27And so it's much more likely that he would have produced at a level like he did at Cincinnati at age 22 at Texas Tech.
23:35That's the baseline expectation, not that he's going to crush at Texas Tech and become a first-round pick.
23:41Yeah, okay, in your imagination, sure. But that's probably not him.
23:45At his core, he's not a first-rounder, right? Or there's like an 85% chance he's not a first-rounder, okay?
23:51So he's a backup quarterback in the league. I think realistically speaking, yes.
23:55He's a backup quarterback in the league, right? He's like a, I look at him like a bigger, faster, stronger Sam Howell.
24:02That's Brendan Soresby. But that guy has value. In Superflex leagues and Dynasty, that guy's going to have some value.
24:09That guy's going to see the field at some point.
24:12He's going to start some games. Spencer Rattler started games last year.
24:16Let's go down the list of guys that started games.
24:19But no, Spencer Rattler just didn't come in and start a couple games because the quarterback had a broken wrist.
24:25He came in as the starter week one. So it's very much in Soresby's range of outcomes that a year or two
24:32from now, he could be the starter week one.
24:35That is very possible. But first-round talent, no. Probably not.
24:39No. Okay? So then you have to ask the question, okay, you're an NFL team.
24:43Is it worth it? Is the juice worth the squeeze right now?
24:47What you're saying is, in a rational world, 32 teams would evaluate the risk of Brendan Soresby to the league and their
24:54own team and they would opt out of bidding on him in the supplemental draft?
24:59Yeah. I think realistically speaking, they won't because there is a competitive advantage if he's good.
25:04Right? Like what you just said. He does have value.
25:08The question is, where does that value lie? Right?
25:10If he has value as the theoretical upside experiment that you're never actually comfortable putting on the field because of the questions
25:18that will be asked if you do, does he really have value?
25:21Like he has value to a scout. He has value to somebody that sees what he can be.
25:27Right? That's, that's, this is, this is the concern.
25:30Right? The comment down there is perfect. The risk involved here is so high because one game, right?
25:36One game that he decides, oh, I can give my buddies a tip on this wide receiver that might be out today.
25:43Right? I'm not actually gambling on it, but you know, the group chats still in it.
25:48Right? It's one decision like that, that then somebody asks, well, is the league entirely just compromised?
25:54Right? Should we have draft Kings as a sponsor?
25:57Should we have all of these things? You're so close to that line already.
26:01College football is a different entity because you're talking about mostly 18 to 21 year olds.
26:06The conferences are their own entities. The schools have much outside of football to talk about, but they're, you know, they, the
26:13NCAA kind of did the student athlete thing is guys for a long time.
26:18The big bad wolf had no bite at all.
26:21This is different. You are getting drafted into onto a team that has collective bargaining.
26:26You have rights. The union will protect you. The question that we're asking ourselves here is not, can Brendan Sorsby play at the NFL level?
26:34Clearly the answer to that question is yes. Otherwise there would be no reason for a supplemental draft.
26:39And he, like many others would have just gone their way to the CFL or the UFL or broader do whatever.
26:46The reason that this exists is because his talent is such that he would have been drafted.
26:52Now, where is what we're discussing right now? I personally would not do anything other than a mid day three pick on
26:59him because even best case scenario, like we're talking about, there are going to be a lot of really difficult questions to answer about it.
27:07No, no, no. Why would, no, you wouldn't even take the risk.
27:11If you think he's worth a mid day three pick, then you're not going to, you're not going to let him be building.
27:18The player is good. I have no doubt that the player is good.
27:22You know, there, there, there, there will be a team that is willing to post a second or third rounder, a, a
27:29forfeit, a pick that has real value because they value him and they think the reward outweighs the risk.
27:36I think those teams will be in the minority because it's irrational, but there will be these teams.
27:41I mean, NFL equity holders and GMs act irrationally all the time.
27:45So just get ready for that. Um, I can tell you based on what I've looked up, we want to hear what
27:52AI has to say about the NFL's, uh, uh, requirements around the supplemental draft.
27:57Yes. But first, which AI model? Cause that's important.
28:00Uh, I will Gemini. I have Gemini saved cause I'm logged into Gmail.
28:04So I just pulled up Gemini. That's the quickest thing I could do.
28:08Okay. So it's right there. So Gemini says this is the Google AI product.
28:13Gemini says, no, the NFL is not legally required to hold a supplemental draft just because Brennan Swarsby applied the collective bargaining
28:20disc dictates how a supplemental draft must be conducted.
28:23The league retains ultimate authority over whether it takes place and who is allowed to enter.
28:28And I read further and there's no legal obligation.
28:31There's no collective bargaining element to this. As you said, in the collective bargaining agreement only speaks to how a supplemental draft would be conducted.
28:39There are no antitrust concerns and there are no labor law violations.
28:43If the NFL opts to deny Swarsby his petition.
28:46So the next step for him is that he petitions the league by June 22nd to have a supplemental draft held for him.
28:53And there's just so much gall here, right? He torpedoes his own career, right?
28:57And besmirches a program in Cincinnati and is essentially a radioactive sportsman.
29:01And yet he is the one player that everyone now has to create an exception for, right?
29:07League administrators have to meet about this. Every NFL team has to talk about him.
29:12It's, it's as backward of an incentive structure as you could possibly imagine.
29:16The worse your behavior, the more people will talk about you, the more accommodations we made for you.
29:22And just fundamentally on principle, because of that, I'm like, well, why are you having a supplemental draft?
29:27Just don't do it. Just say no. Say, hey, we have reviewed your petition and we've decided that you need to spend
29:35more time in rehab and you need to go through the traditional pre-draft process.
29:39All the interviews of all 32 teams, you, we have to watch your pro day, all the same.
29:45You have to go to the combine, everything. You need to participate in the standard operating pre-draft process in order to gain entry into this league.
29:53We're not going to have a shotgun draft where you get the least scrutiny of any quarterback prospects.
29:59Let me get this straight. The guy that has been the most untrustworthy of NFL draft prospects of all time.
30:06Is the one that is going to receive the least amount of scrutiny upon entering the league.
30:11The reversed upside down world that we're living in, the reversal of the incentive structures to be completely illogical.
30:17It's it's it's it's spectacular. Like it really is like it is a spectacular phenomenon that we're seeing where in fiction, you
30:24couldn't even craft a narrative of, you know, the perversion of incentive structures for a given player's behavior.
30:30I think for for the league as a whole, right?
30:33This is the do we cross the bridge? Do we not cross the bridge point here?
30:38Right. And someone in the comments said people change.
30:41And I wholeheartedly agree with that. Like, first of all, good on him for actually acknowledging that he has an issue and going to get help.
30:50Right. That's that's a big part of this. I don't think that we'd even be having this discussion if this came out and he hadn't already done that.
30:59Now, the situation probably required him to do that regardless.
31:02But, you know, not a bad thing to do that if he has a problem.
31:07The question that I have here is not anything related to anything.
31:11Yeah. And the thing is, you cannot gamble on your own team.
31:15That's the biggest thing. It's there is a division and you can say gambling is bad.
31:20We've promoted it to all these kids. Right. As someone that's worked for PrizePix, MGM, done consulting for DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet, CallSheet, Polymark, all these in various orders.
31:29Right. One of the things that we had to do as full time employees was our social security numbers were deactivated for
31:36all of all of the associated things. Right. If you're at MGM, you can't gamble on any MGM product.
31:42If you're at PrizePix, you can't use any DFS product.
31:45So there are these provisions in place for even employees of those companies.
31:49If you think about it this way, the only reason that Swarsby was able to fight this in court is he wasn't an employee of anybody.
31:58Right. He wasn't employed by the university. There was an NIL situation where he was being paid for his name, image, and likeness.
32:05But the truth of the matter here is he benefited greatly from the fact that the NCAA is toothless.
32:11They have no right. They have no legal framework to stand on.
32:15He benefited directly from that. The question is, as the NFL, right?
32:19Once you are drafted, we're talking about the CBA and we're talking about the Players Association.
32:24He's not in the Players Association yet. He hasn't.
32:27He's not been picked up by a team, right?
32:30As a draft prospect, that's one thing. But he made the decision to become a draft prospect 20 minutes ago.
32:36Like this is not a long term like he's had six months.
32:40He's been blackballed. No, no, no. We have a situation here where the guy was not even caught.
32:46They self-reported this. Tech found out, self-reported it, sent him to rehab on their dime and basically said, hey, buddy, go get help.
32:54They hoped to find a way to let him play this year.
32:57Once Tech found out the fallout of the fact that legally they could get around and actually do this, they realized that
33:04it was threatening the fabric of not just them as an entity, but of the way that people schedule them, not just in football, but across sports, period.
33:14Yeah. Our lacrosse team can't play anybody now. Right.
33:16And now their own conference was ready to take them to court and drop the hammer.
33:22Of course. They realized the gravity of their error and basically said, Brendan, get the fuck out.
33:27Like, we'll help you however we can. We can't do this.
33:31The audacity to even try to bring him in after the injunction.
33:34This is, as far as I am aware, this is from people in and around.
33:39Texas Tech was not aware that Brendan Soarsby had these demons.
33:43No, no. I know. I'm saying after the injunction, after the admission, after the injunction, the fact that they were standing by
33:50him the whole time through the legal process as if this was going to be settled in court.
33:56Or, like, again, it's like, you can't, this is one of those things that you're never going to win in the court of public opinion.
34:04Right. There are, I'll give you a great example.
34:07Go way back and way back. Right. America loves a redemption story.
34:11Michael Vick is one of the better ones where he young, got a lot of money, did horrible, horrible things.
34:17Right. Rebuilt his image, did his time, serve, serve the time.
34:21Right. Came back. Remind people what Michael Vick did.
34:23Yeah. I mean, I don't think that these are one in the same.
34:28Michael Vick was running. He was the commissioner. Essentially, he was the effective commissioner.
34:32Yeah. Of an illegal dogfighting ring. Yeah. And again, this guy got a second shot in the NFL.
34:38And in dogfighting, the dog's goal is to bite the face off the other dog and kill it.
34:44Public perception on Michael Vick changed over time. Now, there are the people that will forever say, fuck that guy.
34:50And they have every right to say it. There are some people that love the redemption story and loved what he did on the football field.
34:59And, you know, there are those always those two sides.
35:02But here, even the most staunch tech fan, that's like a Brendan Sorsby defender.
35:06If you go talk to a Texas tech fan, they're like something about this feels wrong.
35:12Right. It is, you know, there's a hive mentality, us against the world, et cetera.
35:16So there will be those those people. Right. No.
35:19And this is not a Michael Vick level situation.
35:22I don't think it is. No, no. He didn't harm another another human.
35:26He did not harm an animal. Societally speaking, what he did is not the level of Michael Vick.
35:32But the fact that Michael Vick was a generational talent made all the difference.
35:37If Michael Vick was a backup linebacker, he would have never seen the league.
35:41And Sorsby is a fringe starter. Like if Sorsby were in the NFL, he would be the QB 28 to 38.
35:48We don't know where he would. But that's where I would project him.
35:52And that's just not enough. So if Brendan Sorsby was running an illegal dog fighting ring, he would never take a snap for an NFL team.
36:01Okay. So there's very, they're very different things. Yeah.
36:03I'm just saying. But, but, but the long term risk to the health and growth of the league is actually more at
36:11risk if there is a proliferation of Brendan Sorsby's behavior among NFL players.
36:15Right. So if a bunch of NFL players start running dog fighting rings, then authorities are going to get involved and there's going to be this whole thing.
36:24And it's going to be this, this whole panic about it and it'll be shut down and thank God.
36:30And hopefully the minimum amount of dogs die. I just took my, my, my little rabbit pet to the vet today.
36:37So I'm a little bit, I don't know why I'm a bit sensitive to this whole, you know, killing animals thing and harming pets.
36:44Like I don't know why I just, today you caught me at a very soft, soft spot.
36:50Uh, where I'm like, there's no, it doesn't compare to Michael Vick, but, but, but it would be more damaging.
36:56Right. I mean, the NFL had a serial killer playing tight end in new England and they said, Hey man, this guy's got a screw loose.
37:05We didn't know. We're sorry. We had no idea.
37:08In fact, these guys are paid to be vicious to each other on the field.
37:12So maybe even if these guys have a predisposition to violence, certainly if you're playing a gladiator spectacle, that that's just logical.
37:20Okay. And so, and that, that's what they said about Michael Vick and everything else, but that would be a short-term scandal
37:27that then we would have to talk about on a podcast 10 years later and remind people what the hell happened.
37:33If there is a proliferation of NFL players betting on NFL games, that is an existential threat to the league.
37:40Therein lies the problem, right? It's not just Sorsby.
37:43Let's say he starts a game for the Eagles.
37:46We've been talking about that. I mean, can you imagine?
37:49It just, can you imagine the, the, the, the, the, there's a comment.
37:53There's a, this is why I love live streaming the show on YouTube and, and, and on social media.
37:59Mike Vask 21 or Mick, Mick Vask. Thank God it's not Mike.
38:03Mike V. I thought it was Mike V. I was like, wait, is this a, what is this?
38:09What is this? Who is this apologist? No, that's not what's happening.
38:13Mick Vask 21 writes, Sorsby about to get caught betting on rabbit fighting.
38:17And that is a thing, by the way, that is a thing.
38:21And it's, it's, it's all, it's all sad. It's all sad to me.
38:25I don't want to get it. I don't want to go down this rabbit hole.
38:30Dad, dad. Oh, dad. No. Oh, dad. Why dad?
38:33Why? Why? You had one job. I had one job.
38:36God damn it. I had to do it. Corny.
38:39I had to do it. Oh, my daughter will be proud on that one, but, uh, and she'll be proud that I'm
38:46sticking up for our, our, our, our man, Ashton, our little rabbit.
38:50Uh, but yeah, that, that would not be as bad because you can go to French restaurants and order rabbit.
38:56You cannot go to French restaurants and order dog.
38:59Yeah. The really strange part about this is this all happened so quickly that it was like tech and Sorsby against the world real quick.
39:07And now if you're the NFL, right, you have all the information.
39:11This is not sneaking up on you. We just touched on this, but the real scare here is he starts for somebody
39:18and people start betting the other team and betting the other team, betting the other team.
39:23Right now. So someone in the comments put something else in there that I think is interesting where they were talking about
39:30how NFL players are betting all the time. Yeah.
39:33It's on somebody else's like that. They're betting through their cousin or through whoever.
39:38Right now. Now we can't stop everybody from, from doing that.
39:41It's impossible. There's no way to, to, to put barriers in place to prevent that.
39:46It's just not possible. Human beings are going to do whatever human beings want to do.
39:51Um, in this case though, you are in a spot where he may be the sacrificial limb.
39:57Like he may be the guy that gets caught and is blackballed and they basically draw the line and say, this is
40:04the guy that we're going to make an example out of.
40:08The reason that I say that is every other sport has had their, you know, era of scandal.
40:13Right. You know, um, we've had, you brought up shoeless Joe, right?
40:17The black socks. There's, there are a bunch of, I feel so bad for shoeless Joe, right?
40:23He cannot wherever he's looking down from or up from probably down again, again, probably down.
40:28He's so confused. Oh yeah. He can't believe it.
40:31This guy, again, I don't know if they sleep or not, wherever they go.
40:35The souls, there's no, there's no way he can come to terms with it.
40:40It's a poor guy. How do you prove collusion?
40:43That's the thing. How do you prove someone fixed a game?
40:46This isn't Paul crew in the longest yard. Shout out Alan Sandler.
40:50Like this is not one of those things where this is a movie set.
40:55This is real life, right? There are 22 players on, on the field at any given time.
41:00How are you going to prove that a quarterback is throwing games or not throwing games?
41:05It's all perception. And the thing is so much of it has been, well, the NFL would never really get in bed with gambling, right?
41:13Well, now we have DraftKings sponsorships and all of this other stuff, right?
41:18So systematically over time, we have pushed the line just a little bit here and a little bit here and a little bit here.
41:25But this is the one thing that we've always said.
41:28No, absolutely not. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.
41:32And now we're having a discussion about it. That's terrifying because God forbid, we have a scandal in the NFL where, you
41:39know, people are point shaving or, or, you know, uh, at some point we have someone betting their own unders or, you
41:46know, there are so many different ways that this could go horribly wrong.
41:50It's a risk assessment at this point. And if you're an NFL team that has an owner that wants to win above
41:58all, and you have a, you know, coach that you think can hold it down.
42:02Cool. Uh, as a league, what do you do?
42:05That's what I'm much more interested in. The teams will take a shot on him.
42:10I have no doubt, but as a league, what do you do?
42:14Let's say he has to start a week 15 game, right?
42:18Hey, who's that guy? Looks a lot like LeBron.
42:20I have LeBron up on the screen, a LeBron offer.
42:24We're not sponsored by draft Kings, but apparently according to LeBron, if you bet five, you get $300 instantly in bonus bets, right?
42:31Only for new customers. If you've used the app before, no good for you.
42:36Uh, it, this whole scenario is so extremely strange.
42:38Oh, good. Do me McSludge. Imagine if they do me.
42:42Well, first of all, we have to just give do me his, his do the puns here.
42:47I mean, I'm feeling good. We're do me. We're going to give him his do do me McSludge.
42:53His avatar is the dude, right? And it's, it's the dude when just after he pulls his head out of the toilet
43:00and he puts his sunglasses back on all of the best scenes in that movie are involving his sunglasses.
43:06Walter's shaking the cremated remains. Remember that the wind blows and the dust is it's, he's like getting on his sunglasses.
43:13That may be the funniest of all scenes in any movie.
43:17Spoiler. When they're spreading Donnie's ashes in the big Lebowski, I don't think it gets better.
43:22I mean, let us know in the comments, let us know in the chat, put it in there.
43:27Like the show. You're supposed to like the show.
43:30If you like the show, if you like this, if you like this actually breaking down the whole spectrum of issues and
43:37phenomenon and factors with this Brendan Sorsby scandal debacle situation.
43:41If you like this, like the show, wherever you are, if you're listening to the podcast, share it with a friend and also comment, right?
43:49Comment what your favorite scene is from the big Lebowski.
43:52I would like to know mine's the spreading of, of, of Donnie's remains.
43:56It just because the deadpan look from Jeff Bridges, the dude is it's something that I aspire to.
44:02Like when I want to give a good deadpan, I try to channel him like that.
44:07That is the best. And this comment is dead on man.
44:11First of all, epic movie. Uh, but weirdly enough, right.
44:14Vegas is known as this thing. Like there have been a million memes of Fernando Mendoza, like about how funny it is.
44:21Clearly you're not a golfer. Again, these just quips.
44:24So good. It's the deadpans and the quips that just get me every time.
44:28So good. But there are a million memes of Fernando Mendoza and how funny it is that he's the, the face of the Las Vegas Raiders.
44:37Only because, you know, you, you assume Sin City and this guy's the exact opposite.
44:42Like I saw somebody post a Photoshop. I don't know if AI or whatever it was of him in a Raiders jersey
44:49that said, say no to having sex until you're married.
44:52Like that's the kind of guy that we assume Fernando Mendoza is.
44:56And imagine dragging in Sorsby as his backup, him and cousins and Sorsby.
45:00Like what a, what a room spokesperson for Kohl's cash, the poster child.
45:04Yeah, you, you, you have basically the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of the ability to adhere to social norms
45:11and rules where you have the quintessential franchise face of the franchise starting quarterback in Fernando Mendoza.
45:17And even like, you know, the, the crossover appeal, like the whole, he has, he has all of North America covered.
45:24And then you've got Sorsby who's in the opposite end of the spectrum.
45:28Who's just trying to push the envelope. Right. And it doesn't care if whatever he's doing is stigmatized.
45:34And then you've got, you've got Kirk cousins. Who's like, Hey man, I get you like to make this extra money on the side.
45:41This is the wild west right now. I make my money the old fashioned way I hold out.
45:47So right there, they're sports cowboys in different ways, but the bottom line is there's a lot at risk here.
45:54This is a potential Pandora's box for the NFL specifically because the sport itself is very easy to rig.
46:00If a player was so inclined, it's much, much harder for someone playing baseball, for example, where that's where the biggest scandals have been.
46:07But there's also basketball, Tim Donaghy, right? We have Chauncey Billups.
46:11So we have multiple betting scandals in the NBA and in the, in the major league baseball.
46:16And yet somehow the NFL has remained unscathed. I mean, they've been scathed in all these other areas.
46:22Like they've had, again, guys throwing women on beds of guns and serial killers and, and the spectrum of sort of violent behavior.
46:30But at least they didn't bet on the games.
46:33And now it's like, well, actually I don't think this is a comfortable conversation to have, but we need to have it now.
46:40Might as well. It's June in the off season.
46:43Nothing else to talk about. If I'm a linebacker throwing a game would be easy.
46:48If I'm a cornerback throwing a game would be easy because I can give maximum effort.
46:53In fact, I can even make it look like I'm giving 120%.
46:57But if I take a slightly different angle, that guy's gone.
47:00Well, that's Darren lies the problem, right? We don't know the assignments of all 22 players on every play.
47:06So winning is he said, this is not, this is bowling.
47:10There are rules. So we're getting some really good quotes.
47:13Keep them coming. The biggest concern is, you know, we already have people that think that it's a, you know, a framed
47:20product that, you know, the, the winners are decided in advance, et cetera.
47:24But in this case, you have a legitimate question being asked, right?
47:28We have a guy that has a history of gambling addiction.
47:32We have a guy that's bet on his own games at two different schools.
47:36We have a guy that was trying to get to the third school, right?
47:41And so I think the funniest part about this, given what we do on this show is you're going to see similar
47:48fallout between dynasty managers and their commissioners as to what everybody's going to do with him.
47:53Because there are some people saying, push him to 27.
47:56There are some people saying it's a fab edition.
47:59There's all kinds of ideas I've heard out there.
48:02I have thoughts on that. Oh, on and oh, on.
48:05And you're going to wow. Talk about a Pandora's box.
48:09Oh, do I have thoughts on that? But I, it is.
48:12We are setting up and the NFL is walking eyes wide open into this brave new world of the players that are
48:19playing on the field, have a history of gambling on their own sport and on their own team.
48:25And you, before, before Brendan Soresby entered the league, you couldn't say that with certainty, right?
48:30Keishon Boutte. There's, there's been scandals where players were betting and were rehabilitated.
48:34Calvin Ridley. Yeah. Yeah. We've had this, right? This, it's, it's not, it's, it's not the first time ever, but this is,
48:42I don't remember hearing that Keishon Boutte or, or Calvin Ridley ever bet on their own team in the NFL or in college.
48:49So I think that this is crossing the Rubicon with Soresby and the quarterback position of all positions is the easiest.
48:56Yeah. I mean, it is the hardest to play and the easiest to throw.
49:00Yeah. Right. Again, to throw the game. Send help is now streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney plus.

50:21How am I so good at this? I'm really, I mean, yeah.
50:25The biggest, the funniest part about all this is like if he was the number one overall pick or like someone discussed
50:32like that, this would be such a fun argument to have.
50:36Oh, I wish dude. That would make it so much better.
50:39Right? Oh my God. Or if he was terrible, this would also be really funny.
50:44But instead he's just kind of good to mid enough that it's a conversation.
50:49If he were not some combination of Ty Simpson and Sam Howell.
50:52Oh my God. You're so right. It would be really good.
50:56It would be. Wow. We've, we've, we've made a meal out of this already.
51:01I mean, this is almost half the show is dedicated to, to Sorsby's like NFL status.
51:06We haven't even gotten into like, what are we going to do with him in dynasty leagues?
51:11We haven't even gotten into that yet. I think you should get into it, man.
51:16Cause I don't know what the hell to do.
51:19I have no idea. All right. So I have thoughts on this.
51:23If I'm Roger Goodell, I am not holding a supplemental draft and I'm going to force Sorsby to go through the pre-draft process.
51:30And if a full and complete reckoning happens between now and then also just buys time, right?
51:36It buys time for everyone to think about this.
51:39It buys time for him to prove himself that he can manage this habit, right?
51:43So there, there's, there's a bunch of things, a bunch of positive supporting data elements and data points that could come in
51:51on this in the next year that would make everyone involved.
51:54And everyone with a stake in the NFL and the NFL's integrity feel a lot better.
51:59So why rush into this? Given the risk to the, to the integrity of the sport, a sport where the franchises are
52:06worth multiple billions of dollars to let the QB 29 future QB 29, call it all that into question.
52:12And risk it all for QB 29 for Sam Howell 2.0.
52:16I would not do it without another 10 months of pre-draft scrutiny.
52:20And that just means saying thanks, but no thanks on your supplemental draft request.
52:24Your petition has been denied and they can lay out a number of reasons.
52:29And because most people don't want him in the NFL, the vast majority of people do not have a stake in Brendan Sorsby's participation in the NFL.
52:38Most people would rather he never entered the NFL because they understand this risk and they love the league.
52:44I love the league and I don't want them to risk it.
52:48Yeah. Right. We have a whole business built around this league.
52:51I don't want them risking Brendan fucking Sorsby. Yeah.
52:54Right. This isn't Arch Manning, man. If it were Arch Manning, it would be a different conversation like you were saying.
53:01Yeah. So the right thing to do is to make him wait for the pre-draft process and do not honor his request for a supplemental draft.
53:09That's what I would do. Now, will they do it?
53:12I doubt it. I think he's going to be drafted in the supplemental draft, which brings about question number two, right?
53:19Where do you think he's going? I think he's going in the third or fourth route.
53:24To which team? Any of the seller dwellers. Take your pick.
53:28The Jets, the Browns, anybody that's looking for QB that's just looking for a cheap ticket with upside.
53:34Anybody that does not have their 2027 starting QB on their roster.
53:38Someone in the comments dropped Pittsburgh. I think. Oh, God.
53:41Right? Like, there's a lot of, there are a lot of teams where either they have a guy on a bridge that's
53:48a one-year guy, or they just haven't figured out quarterback in the last five years and they're still throwing darts.
53:54I mean, somebody's going to take him, man. Like, it's like we led this off with.
54:00Somebody will be okay with the risk, the trade-off, risk-reward.
54:03I just don't see the reward side of it.
54:06Personally, for me, I would not. I'm not even comfortable submitting a pick for him, but he has talent and ultimately that talks.
54:13So give me, if we're just throwing out a round, I think probably a fourth round pick, maybe even pushing into a third.
54:20That is what's going to happen. That is exactly what's going to happen.
54:25And he's going to go to Arizona. We had just an owner intervene in the NFL draft just recently.
54:31We had the famous intervention for the Browns to go after Deshaun Watson.
54:35So Jimmy Haslam said, we got to get this guy.
54:38And he was dead wrong. Jimmy Haslam, very, very bad quarterback scout.
54:42Very bad. Very bad. Very bad judge of character.
54:45Very bad quarterback scout. It was bad on all counts.
54:48Bad, bad, bad. Stay out of the front office, Jimmy.
54:51So Cleveland would be another option, right? So we've seen owners meddling in Cleveland.
54:56We've seen owners meddling for Jeremiah Love, insisting that they draft Jeremiah Love, which the roster watch guys insist that that was an owner pick.
55:04And I think that McShay is really the one that was talking about that, that Love is going to go to Arizona
55:11and it's not Monty Austin Ford's fault. Yeah. Right.
55:14So that, so those are the types of teams where you could see it just takes one guy.
55:20If you have a super powerful owner and they are used to just doing whatever they want, regardless of the social consequences,
55:27regardless of what the opinion of the other equity holders around the league are.
55:31We've seen it in Cleveland and we've seen it in Arizona.
55:35And those two teams just happen to need quarterback more than any other.
55:39That's probably where he's going. One of those two places.
55:42And you're talking about guys that are not used to hearing the word.
55:47No. So whatever, whatever they want, they get. Yeah.
55:49And if they're, if they are invested in some way in gaming, it's very possible that they are, that they're pro gaming.
55:57Famously, the whole administration, right? Is pro prediction markets.
55:59There, there's certainly going to be a number of equity holders that are like, okay, I see the risk, but the, the
56:07winds are, are, are, are blowing in the opposite direction.
56:10Now everything's changing. Sentiments are changing. Public perception of this is changing.
56:14It's changing at such a high rate that I'm going to bet on getting the talent at value.
56:19And we'll, we'll watch the, the social forces evolve in our favor, right?
56:24There's going to be some owner that has that opinion and goes and, and, and forces the general manager under threat to
56:31like submit the bid, submit the offer. It's on you.
56:34It's going to take ownership coming down, taking the elevator down and forcing them to, to sign their name on the card they're submitting to the NFL.
56:43That is, that is what's going to happen. And regarding the Steelers, the Steelers are not, I think as likely because they
56:50position themselves as being at a higher standard. Yeah.
56:53The Steelers operate their whole organization at a, at a standard that it is above the baseline league rules.
56:59We hold ourselves to a higher standard in Pittsburgh.
57:02That's been a narrative for decades. And, and, and, and I think they're proud of that.
57:07And they would, they, so that for that reason, Sorsby wouldn't go to Pittsburgh.
57:11Pittsburgh has a lot of problems and we're going to talk a little bit more about Pittsburgh a little bit later in the show.
57:19So we'll get to that. This might be a long show because I need to talk before we get into anything beyond Sorsby.
57:27About the dynasty league implications of this, because I think for dynasty leagues, Sorsby should not be in the player pool for 2026.
57:34For a lot of the same reasons, for a lot of the same reasons that I think Goodell should reject his request for a supplemental draft.
57:42Dynasty leaguers should reject any proposals to have Brendan Sorsby enter their 2026 player pool.
57:47It's just not worth it. It's not worth it.
57:50There's, there's not enough upside. And to me, it's, it's all downside and inconvenience and stress intention for no reason.
57:57My baseline operating position on this is that he's not worth the hassle just as a starting point.
58:02The question that I have is if we just inserted him into 2026, take the gambling out of it, right?
58:09We just inserted him into the 2026 player pool.
58:12Superflex. Where would you take him? Realistically speaking, like where does he slot into that four round draft for you?
58:18Well, if he were smart and decided to come out in 2026, then I think he would have done well in the pre-draft process.
58:26Like NFL evaluators, scouts, and think that he has the tools to be a first rounder.
58:31We talked about that. And so I think he would have done well on the drills.
58:36I think he would have flash athleticism and he would have built a Ty Simpson like case.
58:42I don't think he, he doesn't have that Ty Simpson production.
58:45Didn't play at a, at a program like Alabama.
58:48So I think you're talking about a discounted version of Ty Simpson because there was very little quarterback talent in the 2026 draft.
58:56He would have gone late first round or early second round.
58:59I think in 2027, I think the competition is so steep that there's no way he would go first round.
59:06There's a 15% chance that he would if he had dramatically exceeded expectations at Texas tech during the 2026 season.
59:12Late first, early second is where I would project.
59:15Let's say pick. Yeah. Like I said, we'll, we'll stick with this.
59:19I'm going to stick with it. Pick 29. Right.
59:22And so functionally in super flex, if you're drafting, right, would he make it for you into round one?
59:28Because we had a week draft class this year overall, right?
59:31People, there were a second round pick in this draft was basically a pick your flavor because there's no consensus.
59:38Nobody really wanted a bunch of the second round players this year.
59:42And we, you know, obviously every year there are people, there's like a dead, but it really was basically just the entire second round this year.
59:50And, you know, for a lot of people that were looking, you know, you were trying to just take guys that fit
59:57roster holes for you or somebody that you really believed in or fan of the team, whatever the case was.
60:04Um, cause they were second round dynasty picks were trading for basically nothing.
60:08And obviously that makes him a borderline, like end of first, early second guy at worst.
60:13So, I mean, he has value in dynasty, objectively speaking, because this draft sucked.
60:17Does he have the same value next year? That's really where I put the odds on this, right?
60:23You've already had anybody with common sense has already had their dynasty rookie drafts.
60:28If the, if you haven't the shirt or whatever, but most people have already had theirs.
60:33So what do you do with him? Do you hold the fab auction thing to me was very dumb that that doesn't
60:40make any sense, but that's the most popular. Yeah.
60:43I mean, but then again, right? Like that, I don't think that's fair.
60:47Um, pushing him to 27 is probably the fairest way to do it, but the argument that people will get and the
60:54pushback, the most valid criticism of that, that I've heard is, well, why would a player earning points potentially during the 2026 season be ineligible to be rostered?
61:03Right. That would be the worst. Wouldn't that just be the worst?
61:07Wouldn't that be so bad? That would be terrible on.
61:10And I saw this in one of the chats and what, one of my leagues, that would be so terrible, terrible.
61:17Oh, it's so terrible. If a guy is accumulating stats on an NFL field and he doesn't help any fantasy teams this year.
61:25Oh my God. How could, no, no, I can't believe that.
61:28The guy goes out and he puts up 14 fantasy points against the Bengals and he doesn't get to help my team,
61:35even though he would have been on the bench.
61:38But what, I should get those, somebody in this league, like who is this person?
61:43There's no, there's no all seeing caretaker of dynasty leagues.
61:46Who's only thinking about the collective. Oh, oh, all these points, they need to be allocated to teams.
61:52Oh, we need to make sure. What about all the players on the waiver wire that produce?
61:57Well, those teams never get those points. It's the only dynasty managers that are advocating that he be dropped into the 2026
62:05class retroactively are those that think they're going to get a deal and acquire him for themselves.
62:10They're not thinking about what's best for the league.
62:13Anyone that's thinking about what's best for the league, the integrity of the dynasty league are the same people that would have
62:20a similar opinion of the NFL and what's best for the NFL, which is a conservative approach, which is just let the
62:27guy enter the 2027 draft and be done with it.
62:30It's just a very simple, elegant solution. And then there's nothing that there's no extra management.
62:35There's no extra debate. There's no extra rules and regulations that you need.
62:40It's almost too simple. Is there a prediction market where they're asking, does Brendan Sorsby record an NFL stat in 2026?
62:46Because I would love to know what percentage of people think that he's going to get a carry, a pass, whatever, right?
62:54Because that's really the question you're asking if you're pushing for the, oh, but he could accumulate stats in 2026.
63:00I don't know if there is one, you know, again, this is just data purposes.
63:05I don't really, you know, I don't really think that that's the way to go.
63:10But, you know, the Sorsby question is a very interesting one, right?
63:14There's a, there's a whole lot going on there.
63:16Um, I, I just think the most common sense solution is just push them to 2027.
63:22So according to the prediction markets, I'm wrong. Okay.
63:24So, uh, I'm already wrong. Yeah. This is funny.
63:27Like, it's just funny how quickly I can be wrong.
63:31I just by typing something into a computer and it's like, oh, I'm wrong.
63:35So apparently the favorite to acquire Brendan Sorsby this year is actually the Pittsburgh Steelers.
63:40There you go. Then it's the New York jets.
63:43And then it's the Miami dolphins. The reason why, oh God, these are silly odds.
63:48I'm not going to pay attention to these odds because basically what they're saying is these are the teams that are trying
63:55to win and are stuck in the most brutal QB purgatory.
63:58Like that would be the logic. And that, that would, that would be the logic that leads you to put the Steelers on top.
64:06But then the problem is the jets and the dolphins are clearly rebuilding.
64:10So which is it? Right. So it, and where's Arizona on there?
64:14The, the, those are inefficient odds. I'll tell you that right now.
64:18Yeah. When we think about what to do in dynasty, you need to get over this idea that every player who is
64:25accumulating points absolutely needs to be available to be added.
64:28That's not like a core principle of dynasty leagues going into it.
64:32That the, that the idea that there could be an, a special player who for whatever reason is playing, but isn't eligible to be added to your league.
64:41That's not a big deal. That's not, that's not an element of a league constitution that anyone would ever go to war over.
64:49Therefore, those that are advocating that he just get dumped into the player pool, the highest fab bid wins.
64:55Those people are doing it because they want to get him at a discount.
64:59That's the only reason there's one league that I'm in.
65:03There's one league that I'm in where I've seen this happen, where it's, it's the league with the most despicable management.
65:09I took over 20 orphans in 20 days. All the leagues are very cool.
65:14Except this one league is called the Coliseum. It's a very uncool league because the guy that runs it, the commissioner is corrupt.
65:21Oh, his team is a super team. Okay. And he is the one that is always in the chat.
65:27He's always chatting. He's always hyping his own players and he's always talking shit.
65:32And he's always, he's basically doing a podcast. He's doing a dynasty podcast in the chat of the league.
65:38And so you'll see, you'll see in the chat, him have five or six straight comments before anyone reacts at all.
65:45And then days go by. And so he's basically doing a podcast in the chat for himself.
65:50And then, so once in a while, I'll stumble into the chat and I'll look at it and I'll be like, Oh my God, gross.
65:58This guy, he's like the classic try hard thinks he's a dynasty genius.
66:02In fact, I think that's like the in parentheses under his username.
66:06He has like, he says like a dynasty mastermind or whatever it is.
66:11Like he created this league so that he could win it clearly.
66:14Right. And so whenever you see a commissioner has by far and away the best team always, always be skeptical.
66:21Like the, as soon as I saw that, like that was one of the mistakes I made is that I should have
66:28scrutinized some of these, these teams that I took over in the leagues that I took over, not just scrutinizing the team.
66:35I learned the lesson quickly to scrutinize the team.
66:38I took one team that wasn't properly scrutinized and I talked about it on the trade guide show and that was a mistake.
66:45But I also now I'm realizing, Oh, you need to scrutinize the actual league because I've realized, Oh my God, this guy
66:52who calls himself an elite fantasy mind. His username is like, I flex a Y E flex on sleeper.
66:59Oh boy. Just be aware of this guy. And this is his team.
67:03Joe burrow, B. John Robinson, Ashton. Gentie. How are you?
67:06Do you know how many, a few teams have both B.
67:10John and Ashton. Gentie. Oh, Jamar chase CD lamb.
67:12Okay. It keeps going. It gets better. No, this is, this is absurd.
67:17This is embarrassing. Like I'm embarrassed. I'm in this league and I'm not responsible for this guy and his team.
67:23And whatever collusion was necessary to get to this point.
67:26And, and all that was allowed somehow it's allowed when most of the managers are bots.
67:32I guess it is allowed probably allegedly maybe. Okay.
67:34So did I say St. Brown yet was his third receiver?
67:38No. What? I'm on Ross. Brown is his third receiver.
67:41And then his tight end is Sam Laporta. His flex is Drake London and George Pickens full PPR.
67:47Of course. What? And then his second quarterback in super flex is none other than Justin Herbert.
67:52No. So this is a team. This is an actual team.
67:56He has Luther Burden on the bench. He has Harold Fannin on the bench.
68:01Okay. How many teams are in this league? Two?
68:0312. No, no way. No, it's embarrassing. I was embarrassed when I, when I realized the dynamics, because I saw this guy
68:11just nonstop self chatter and I was like, who, who the fuck, who's this guy think he is?
68:16This is crazy. Who does this guy think he is?
68:20The pod father? I look at his team. I'm like, oh no, no.
68:24I'm like, wait, this is the commissioner. No, no, this is, I'm not, I can't believe I accepted the invitation.
68:30So now I'm stuck in this league because I actually have a good team.
68:35It's a solid team. It's a team I think could finish second, third, or fourth.
68:40They just can't ever win against this because it's not like his quarterbacks are even old or even like mobile quarterbacks, like
68:47Lamar that are about to have to go into a new phase of their career.
68:51No, these quarterbacks are young and they're going to be playing at a high level the same way they play now, five
68:59years from now in a super flex. And he has the youngest, best running backs in the league and the best receivers.
69:06And it's like, okay, okay. I could just, I could just hope for the demise of his team somehow, some way I'm
69:13in it's too late, but he is the one, he is the one.
69:17Listen to this. He is the one, the only one.
69:20There's only one commissioner across, again, 20 plus. I did 20 orphans in 20 days.
69:25I've done startups. I'm now in like 25 plus leagues.
69:28He is the only one that has been strongly advocating for Brendan Soresby being added to the player pool and specifically using fab bidding.
69:36Now it gets even better. It gets even better.
69:39Who do you think has a full fab budget in that league?
69:43Of course he does. Okay. So he does. He has a full fab budget.
69:47Who do you think that somehow after that team performed at that level, whatever it did last year, I have no idea.
69:54It wasn't in the league. How is it possible that when the league resets, he also has the number one waiver claim?
70:01Bruh. Bruh. Bruh. This was my first introduction to the how to handle Brendan Soresby in Dynasty League's debate.
70:08This was my introduction to it. This was the first guy.
70:11This was the first league, the first guy to get out in front of this and start talking about how are we
70:18going to solve this Brendan Soresby problem? It would be terrible if he didn't count on anyone's team this year.
70:25His point should absolutely count for someone's team. And you know, of all the things that I need on my team, I've
70:32got a super team and it's loaded. It's going to win without me even setting a lineup.
70:37But man, I, my QB three is weak. So I really, I could use a QB.
70:42You know what? Let's make sure I get him.
70:45He's like, oh, we're going to vote. I'm like, oh, we're going to vote.
70:50You mean, you mean the same people are going to vote that traded you Jamar Chase and Ashton Gentry and Justin Herbert
70:57or the picks that became those players? This, the same, the same friends of yours.
71:02Yeah. The same colleagues and acquaintances of yours are going to go ahead and vote.
71:07Really? That's what we're going to do. I think we need to make additions to this guy.
71:12There's a dynasty dominator book that I wrote that is on Amazon.
71:16It has, it even has this great picture. Evergreen tactics.
71:19I mean, it was written after the 2022 season, but there are evergreen tactics.
71:24It's an evergreen book. It's all fundamental strategies for winning dynasty leagues.
71:28There should be a chapter in that book. And I may start writing a new edition to include this chapter about how
71:35to commission leagues, how to manage them because I'm in these other leagues, right?
71:39And this is the best. I'm in these other leagues where it's clearly people that are cool.
71:45I'm in several leagues. I think at least two leagues.
71:48This guy, his username is moneyballnola. He's cool, right?
71:51And again, everyone is cool. I took over 20 plus orphans.
71:54I've been in five plus startups. We're talking about hundreds of dynasty leaguers and they are cool.
72:00They are cool as the other side of the pillow.
72:03I love these guys. They're just great guys. You can just tell.
72:07You can tell what the comments they're making in the chat.
72:10You can tell what some of the picks they're making.
72:14These are smart people. They're cool, reasonable, laid back.
72:17It's awesome. It's been a great, it's just this one league that I'm in.
72:21This Coliseum league and this one guy, the commissioner, I flex who is a despicable character.
72:26And I am offended on behalf of that league about how he got to this point.
72:31Every member of that league should be embarrassed. And all I can do is raise my hand and go, he should not
72:38go into the player pool this year. And if he does, it sure as hell shouldn't be through the waiver wire.
72:45Okay. Because he's worth more than a full fab budget.
72:48Full stop. Yeah. Because he's worth more than a full fab budget.
72:52Like if Ty Simpson was suddenly made available in a super flex or two QB league, I would bid it all.
72:59And he's not even going to play this year.
73:02Yeah. Right. And the odds are that Sorsby is also not going to play this year because if Sorsby was in the
73:092026 draft, he would have gone to a team that traded back into the end of the first round.
73:15Right. There'd be a dolphins. There would be some team, right.
73:19That would have traded back in to get him like, you know, a team like the Rams, maybe the Rams, if he's
73:26in the draft, maybe this is a sliding doors scenario where maybe even the Rams decide, you know what?
73:32We prefer Sorsby. Right. And then they trade back and they get Sorsby.
73:36Who knows? I guarantee the teams with an original late first rounder, like Seattle, Kansas city, new England, Houston, they're not drafting Sorsby.
73:44It's teams that traded to get in like the dolphins traded with San Francisco to get the 27th pick.
73:50The jets traded to get the 30th pick and which ended up becoming Omar Cooper, or he could have gone to a
73:57team that had an older quarterback or a quarterback that they were not a hundred percent sold on.
74:03So for example, the Carolina Panthers could have been an option.
74:06The Buccaneers, Detroit lions. Like these, these are all teams that could have drafted Sorsby and he would have been on a career path, just like Ty Simpson.
74:15And he's probably not going to produce this year at all.
74:19That's if he goes through the 2026 pre-draft process and he's participating in camp and he's getting acclimated to the NFL and he's learning the playbook.
74:27The supplemental draft is not going to happen until July.
74:30So he's going to show up late July, August, and try to plug himself into the matrix and figure out how to
74:37run an NFL team, an NFL offense in a couple of weeks.
74:41And you think that he's actually going to play much this year?
74:45Absolutely not. Again, there was a, there was a good chance.
74:49Even if he went into the 2026 draft, he would play very little this year.
74:54Now the probability is even lower because you can't possibly trust him until you're well into the season.
74:59And he has fully picked up the playbook, knows all the assignments, knows where everyone's going to be and is comfortable.
75:06It's going to take many, many weeks to get there.
75:09So we're talking about minimal production anyway. Right? So that's the thing.
75:13It's like, what are you really getting? So this is why the dynasty league debate really parallels the NFL in that there's
75:20not a lot to gain from Brendan Soresby at the NFL level.
75:24There's not a lot to gain from Brendan Soresby in fantasy football in 2026.
75:29So don't even entertain the notion that he could be on a team this year and end up going to a team
75:36that gets an extraordinary discount on a player. Yeah.
75:39Right? Because that is very much possible, especially if you go the fab bidding route, any amount is a discount.
75:45Any amount is advantaging a team. Yeah. A lot of times these rebuilding teams, they're not as active.
75:51Yeah. The teams that are more active, they're going to be involved in the voting.
75:56They're going to be involved in the decision-making and be aware of the timeline to put in their fab bidding for Soresby.
76:03Those are the more hyperactive teams that are going to be competing this year.
76:07Now, the teams that are most incentivized to get Soresby on their roster that should also put in a full fab amount are the rebuilding teams.
76:16But who's to say that those rebuilding teams have the number one waiver priority?
76:20Like we said, in this Coliseum League, it's the best team by far also has the number one waiver claim.
76:27I'm sure that's the case in a bunch of leagues.
76:30Yeah. And the disincentive for the teams that are competing is that they want to hold back some fab budget because they
76:37want to make moves, especially in November and December, that can help them win a championship.
76:42They might want to make some pickups. So there's going to be some teams that are in win now mode that are
76:49like, I'm not putting my full fab budget in on Soresby because I need to hold some back because I need to
76:56reserve money to make pickups to help me win this year.
77:00Yeah. So those, but regardless, there is going to be some team that decides I'm going all in and I would have bid double my budget.
77:08And that team is going to, is going to acquire a player.
77:12That's not solely based on merit. It's based just on a random event, a random lightning bolt that struck the league and
77:19gave one team a competitive advantage over all other teams for no reason, but for no reason, because again, I have not
77:26yet heard a good reason why Brendan Soresby absolutely needs to be in the player pool this year and producing fantasy points for fantasy teams this year.
77:35I have not heard that compelling reason. So until I get that, anyone that acquires him this year without giving up something
77:42substantial and fab money, especially in dynasty where they're so deep, that is not substantial enough.

78:23Especially in a deeper bench league, right? Like the taxi squads, et cetera.
78:27Like there are just so many roster spots that the available players on the waiver wire, realistically speaking, are of so little
78:34value that he represents probably put a multiplier on it.
78:38If you could bid this year's next year's the years after, right?
78:42How much of your budget would you give up for him?
78:45Because who's available on the waiver wire that you actually want, right?
78:49It's especially at QB, it's usually like unretiring veterans.
78:52Like you maybe you've gotten Phillip Rivers last year or guys that are like the fourth option practice squad QB that gets
78:59elevated to start a game in December. You're not getting anybody that has any tangible long-term benefit to having them on your roster.
79:06And this is one of those guys, right? Like if he works out, if, you know, he has like a, you know,
79:14a backup turned starter career where, you know, he has two to three usable years, that's really valuable.
79:19Superflex, especially, I don't know what kind of multiplier you would have to put on your fat budget, but it's certainly not one full year's worth.
79:28It's significantly more than that. If you try to retroactively add him to 2026, right?
79:33It's just a disaster. This is a disaster waiting to happen.
79:36If you don't just push him to 2027, because someone is going to feel screwed out of it.
79:42No one is happy here. You're, you're creating angst and anxiety.
79:45That's the other thing that I hate. I hate that this will create drama and tension between league mates for no reason.
79:53It gets worse. The source of it is Brendan Sorsby.
79:56Yeah. Right. Is this asshole, right? So now this asshole is creating drama among friends is creating stress and tension and alienating friends.
80:03There's going to be some leagues that lose managers that are just like, listen, I don't agree with this.
80:09And on principle, I'm leaving the league. Yeah. I was considering it.
80:13I was like, well, what do I do in this Coliseum league?
80:17Because this guy's clearly setting this whole thing up to wire Sorsby to himself.
80:22Yeah. If that happens, do I resign out of protest?
80:25What do I do? And I'm like, no, no, no, I'm staying because fuck him, fuck him and fuck Sorsby.
80:31So that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to try to win.
80:35And that's the best thing you can do that.
80:38You don't, you don't walk away from the league.
80:41You don't, you don't give up. You don't resign.
80:44You just, you stay in fight. That's what you have to do.
80:48Now, again, I want to get back to this because I, if I'm going to be calling out this I flex clown,
80:55I also need to be tipping my cap to the Kings, right?
80:59We need to talk about clowns and Kings. The King of dynasty commissionership is this money ball NOLA.
81:05This guy writes, let's just push Sorsby to the 2027 draft.
81:08I don't really like the other options. Let me know if you have an issue with this all.
81:14And guess what? I wrote, yes, thumbs up. The next guy had a clapping emoji, Shia LaBeouf clapping emoji.
81:20You know, this one, right? So that was what he said.
81:24And everyone else silent, right? So if you're a commissioner and you value league harmony, make sure he gets pushed to the 2027 draft.
81:32Now, if you're a commissioner who just wants to do something novel because you think it's fun, right?
81:37This was a comment I'm seeing right here. And this is dead on.
81:42There are commissioners that think this is a good opportunity to shake up the league and do something fun, do something different.
81:49Use the settings. Dust off some of these rules.
81:52But the problem is most league rules don't even account for this because it's such a rare event.
81:57You have a lot of people now that have to go rewrite their constitutions because of this guy.
82:03Again, it's infuriating that this is the guy that's making people hundreds, thousands of people go rewrite their, their league constitutions because of this asshole.
82:11Like it offends me. It offends me that this is the guy that we're, that we're all playing twister over with the kids.
82:19Cause there's, there's a lot of strong feelings in dynasty.
82:22You can see it in the comments. There's a lot of strong feelings.
82:26A lot of people are weighing in with passion on this debate.
82:30Right? So, but my, my fundamental position is there's no fair way to inject Sorsby into the player pool.
82:36It disadvantages rebuilding teams, especially who need every advantage, right?
82:39It puts them in a terrible position, right? So if you're a rebuilding team that could use him and I'm rebuilding a
82:46lot of these orphans and I could really use Sorsby, but it puts me at a terrible position because if you think
82:53about my team and the Kings classic, my pick is, is likely going to be the one-on-one next year because my team
83:01is, has had to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch.
83:04But I had the one Oh two technically had the one Oh two this year.
83:09And so what they're doing is they're implementing a 2027 pick bidding system where you basically bid a pick based on this year's draft spot for next year.
83:18The problem with that is the flaw in that is that, you know, I'm going to get the one on one next year.
83:25So whatever pick I had this year is not the same pick I'm going to have next year, right?
83:31There are teams that started rebuilding recently and suddenly they're disadvantaged.
83:35And the reason I'm disadvantaged is because I have three 20, 20, 27 firsts in that league.
83:41I have three 20, 27 thirds, but I only have one 20, 27 second.
83:45And he is likely to go mid second round next year.
83:49If he were to stay at Texas tech, I think he would go mid second round because of the strength and the
83:56depth of the 20, 27 class, he'd be an early to mid second rounder.
84:00I think you could argue based on where Ty Simpson went this year, that if you were in this year's class, he'd been a late first rounder.
84:09Like Simpson would have, would have been drafted. And then let's say he went 10 spots after Simpson in the actual NFL
84:16draft, depending on which team he ended up. If he was ended up on, if he ended up on the jets, he ended up on, on the dolphins.
84:25He would have been, he'd be drafted before Ty Simpson.
84:28He would have been a mid first rounder, even an early first rounder.
84:32It was, you know, best case scenario. Let's say he went to somehow went to Arizona, right?
84:38Let's say I, cause I had Arizona trading back in trading with Seattle for the 32nd pick to get Ty Simpson.
84:45That was my prediction. And so what if a team traded with the Cardinals at the end of the first round and
84:52they came in and get their quarterbacks? Hey, we've got a running back on our quarterback.
84:57They're throwing the ball to Michael Wilson and, and Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison, Jr.
85:02Suddenly there's a case where people might be saying, Hey, I have him.
85:06I have him right there with Fernando Mendoza. Right.
85:09But that all didn't happen. That all didn't happen because this guy's an idiot.
85:13Yeah. And, and so, so he goes in the 2027 draft where he's going to be competing with a lot of other quarterbacks.
85:21And, and so he would likely, and you know, better receivers, like just a stockpile class.
85:26It's going to be, it's going to be, it's going to be an epic talent pool that we have at our disposal in 2027.
85:34So I think best case scenario, late first, best case scenario, late first in the 2027 rookie draft, more likely early to mid second round pick for Sorsby.
85:43Because again, if we go back to his resume, two straight seasons with about 2,800 yards at Cincinnati, about a 7.8 yards
85:50per attempt, about a 62% completion percentage, about 22 touchdowns and six interceptions and 500 rushing yards.
85:55That's Sam Howell. Okay. So that, that it's the rushing and the size, like you, and the arm strength, you put the whole package together.
86:03Okay. You can, you can build a scout's case that he's a late first rounder, early second rounder, but stacked up against the talent in the 2027 class.
86:12I think he would have dropped down. And, and again, it would have been this popular mid second round pick next year.
86:19Okay. That's the Sorsby that doesn't have a gambling problem.
86:23Yeah. That's the Sorsby that goes to Texas Tech and does well, right?
86:27It builds on his production from Cincinnati and improves.
86:30That's what we're saying. That's what we're saying. Now we're talking about a player who's radioactive.
86:35We're not sure where he's even going to be supplemental drafted by NFL teams.
86:39And so now it, there's really not a lot of information.
86:43The only information we're going to get is where he's ultimately picked.
86:47So firstly, if you are going to implement this bidding system where you bid 2027 picks, it has to be after he
86:54ends up getting selected in the supplemental draft. So then at least you have the draft capital from which you can then
87:01gauge how much he's worth in terms of 2027 capital.
87:04You'll have his, his draft capital and you'll have his landing spot.
87:08And those are two very important data points when you're valuing players for dynasty.
87:13So you'd need that once you have that, right?
87:16And I'm assuming that once that all plays out, I will value him like a late second rounder.
87:21Okay. That's what I'm assuming is my valuation. That's what it's going to be on Soresby, not knowing where he's going to
87:29land and not knowing the kind of draft capital is going to be committed to him or future draft capital so many committed to him.
87:37Knowing that I would say I'm projecting a late second 2027 pick valuation on Brendan Soresby.
87:42The problem that I have in the Kings classic is guess what on?
87:46That's the one zone of selections that I don't have.
87:49Okay. So now what you, what you're telling me is I need to overpay for him and someone that happens to have pick 210 projected 210.
87:58Again, we don't know the actual pick next year.
88:00We're just using where you selected this year as a proxy for next year.
88:05So just because your team finished third this year, you just happen to have the most efficient draft capital in 2027 to
88:12bid, to acquire Soresby and everyone else is at some level of disadvantage.
88:16Me, the guy that needs Soresby the most I'm rebuilding and I'm particularly rebuilding my quarterback room.
88:22I just drafted Ty Simpson. Well, I'm the most disadvantaged by far.
88:26So I absolutely hate the bidding system. It's certainly more fair than the waiver wire system and the fab bidding system even,
88:33but it's still fundamentally flawed because it does give an advantage, an arbitrary advantage to other teams that I'm not afforded.
88:39And if that is the case at all, my opinion is the league has a, has a duty to push that player into the 2027 draft.
88:48Yeah. I think the, the most interesting part of this, right, you guys have been watching the show for a while, uh,
88:55next month and the next month is the five year anniversary of when we did our first show.
89:01And two years before that was the last supplemental draft pick.
89:04So for any league that was started COVID and beyond, you have never dealt with this, which again, going back to your
89:11initial point about how this isn't in league bylaws.
89:14Yeah. This is a very easy oversight here because it doesn't happen very often.
89:19And it's very rare that it's a quarterback that we're talking about because usually those are the most buttoned up of the
89:26guys that get drafted, you know, some tight end or safety or linebacker that has some kind of weird issue is much more common than a quarterback.
89:35And then here we're talking about a quarterback that is threatening the integrity of not just this game, but the league in general, right?
89:42So there's that bridge to cross. Now we've got to evaluate it in a dynasty context, which again, nobody has any idea
89:49where he will go, what he will do, what other teams value him as.
89:54So you need the draft capital and you need the landing spot.
89:58But on top of all of that, if you try to inject him into 2026, I think the major concern is there's no fair way to do it.
90:07The only fair way to do it is to build a time machine, put him back in August or in April's draft this past year.
90:15So you have that landing spot and, and, and then go from there because again, they're treating this as a secondary entrance point into the league.
90:23And we just don't have those. There's not a logical dynasty lover that you can pull.
90:28Yeah. I understand that people want to treat this as a unique circumstance and it'd be more fun to have this one-off
90:36thing because this thing doesn't happen very often. But my thing is here.
90:40It's very clear. He broke the rules. Odds are he's going to get suspended for most, if not all of 2026 anyway.
90:47So the people saying, oh, he might score 2026 points.
90:50There's a very logical situation here where they give him a six week, eight week, one year ban anyway, regardless, he might
90:57be able to practice, but he probably won't be able to play.
91:01I mean, they did that for prior. They've done that for other guys before.
91:06It's not, this is not the first situation where a player comes into the league and gets suspended before he's ever played.
91:13Let me ask you this. Do you think anyone, do you think anyone will have remembered that Terrell prior didn't count for fantasy football in his first year?
91:22No. Do you think that's a thing that anyone, anyone will, will, will look back on and say, can you believe it?
91:29Wasn't it just terrible that Terrell prior is rookie year.
91:32Didn't count for fantasy football. Oh, that's a guy that can go out and run 80 yards for a touchdown.
91:38If you need to start Brendan Sorsby this year, you have much bigger problems than which draft pool he's in.
91:45All right. That that's we'll start there. Well, that's, that's another, that's another good point.
91:50We have a comment here. It's just too complicated.
91:53The 2027 player pool is where he needs to be.
91:56And that's true. Logical. That's true. That's the other thing to think about.
92:00Cause I see there are some dynasty managers in the chat, Carter Jensen's mom, for example, in dynasty, wouldn't we just auction
92:07a 2027 pick just like the NFL does? Isn't that the most fair way to do it?
92:13And the answer is yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mom. That is the answer that if you had to, if you were forced to,
92:20if it's in the, if it's already in your league bylaws, that supplemental picks must go into the current year's player pool, then sure.
92:27Like if it's, if it's already written in black and white and you need to, you need to improvise the most fair
92:35solution, the bidding 2027 picks is the most fair solution, but it is by far and away less optimal for league harmony, fairness, integrity fun.
92:43Yeah. It's far from optimal. The optimal method is hold them out of 2026 altogether because it is complicated and fuck him.
92:50I don't want to complicate my league because of this asshole.
92:53If he were a nice guy and cool, and this was all just a, a, a misunderstanding and you know, every, everyone
93:00is sort of feels bad, but, Oh, you get kind of caught up in a situation where now they're throwing the book
93:07at him, but actually it was a technicality and he didn't even realize what was going on.
93:13Like, you know, these, these scandals where there is plausible that, you know, Hey, this he's a, he's a nice guy.
93:20He's a good guy. Just, you know, just, it was just a bad luck situation.
93:25His lawyer forgot to file the paperwork, whatever it is, then that would be a little easier.
93:30But even then I would say no, no. And why is that because the best solutions, the fair solutions are also the most complicated.
93:38That's the dilemma. If you just put them on the waiver wire and say, let the highest waiver claim have him.
93:45Well, that's the least fair, but also the easiest.
93:47So least amount of, of hassle for the league commission, the league commissioners already are saints.
93:53These people I'm criticizing league commissioners over here. Like I, in fact, I called one corrupt and this is me from my
94:00ivory tower, having not managed a dynasty league in more than a decade.
94:04And the people that are managing dynasty leagues, they deserve our respect.
94:08There's a lot of work involved. They do a lot and they don't get a lot back.
94:13So I, I respect the hell out of them, but I'm also just like, I'm not a professional athlete.
94:19I'm allowed to criticize professional athletes. And this also advantages the most active owners.
94:24So this is the other problem is, okay, you're going to throw some complicated bidding system at me.
94:30Like, oh, can you also bid 20, 28 picks?
94:33And is there sort of a premium or a discount if you apply to those?
94:37And then, so maybe you say yes to that.
94:40And then all of a sudden it's the ultimate Rube Goldberg machine.
94:44Yeah. It's like, you're creating this incredibly complicated system for what benefit for fucking Brendan Sworsby.
94:49And not only Brendan Sworsby, Brendan Sworsby, 20, 26 stats.
94:53This Rube Goldberg machine will be created by the commissioner at great expense to their time and stress with unhappy managers.
94:59And then on top of that, the least active people with the teams that need the most help are the ones that
95:06are the least likely to get him because they're not going to know what to bid.
95:12They're not going to be paying attention. They may not even be involved in the chat.
95:17They may not be active in the chat for a month.
95:20And then might log into sleeper and be like, oh, I guess Brendan Sworsby is on team X.
95:26Yeah. Or maybe it's like, I don't have a lot of time.
95:30I didn't think I would be devoting brain power to my dynasty league at the end of June or early July.
95:37I'm glancing through this and my eyes are glazed over.
95:40And you know what? I'm not even going to submit a bid.
95:44I don't even know. I don't understand this fully.
95:47And you know what? I'm not even going to participate.
95:50So what seems fun to certain hyperactive commissioners is actually alienating to the lesser, the least active participants in the league.
95:57And really again, so it becomes like, hey, isn't this fun?
96:00Isn't this a cool exercise that I can flex the league settings and my abilities here as a commissioner?
96:06What you're doing is there's an implicit bias towards the hyperactive owners in that league.
96:11And there's going to be a handful of league members that say, what the hell is going on here?
96:17Why do you guys do this? I really, I didn't even participate because I didn't even know what to do and I didn't understand why we're doing it.
96:26You want me to go watch Brendan Sworsby tape?
96:29So he doesn't go through the pre-draft process. And so a lot of dynasty managers that are not super active, they don't
96:36have an ADP to base their decision-making on. They don't have rookie draft guides and all this that they would have access
96:43to, to even put a valuation on Sworsby. So again, you're biasing the process and giving an advantage to the most hyperactive,
96:51the most plugged in dynasty managers in your league.
96:53And you're disadvantaging the owners that are the most likely to abandon the league and orphan a team.
96:59I'm sure again, there will be teams that are orphan because dynasty managers didn't agree with how Brendan Sworsby was handled by their league.
97:07So to avoid all of this, to avoid all of this, just don't put Brendan Sworsby in your 2026 dynasty player pool.
97:14Is this worth it? All of this, the last two hours that we've had to circumnavigate what his value is.
97:21Is it worth the risk? Is it worth this?
97:23Is it worth that? The PR spin? Are you ever sure that he's fully going to recover?
97:29Is he a good enough player? All of this stuff applied to dynasty too.
97:33Is all of this shit worth it? Because I don't think so.
97:37No, it really isn't. We have people in the chat that are saying, hey, if these owners, right?
97:43If these dynasty managers are not active enough and they're mismanaging their team, then fuck them.
97:48Okay. Good luck with that. Yeah. Good luck with that.
97:52Good luck with that. Would you rather alienate and disincentivize and disadvantage your less active dynasty managers in your league and then
97:59have to go ahead and find replacement managers to take over orphans?
98:02Or would you rather just be cool? I vote for be cool.
98:06That's what I vote. And also, if you want to do anything special as a dynasty manager, any injection of Brendan Soresby
98:13into the 2026 player pool would be considered a special.
98:17It is. He's asking. The supplemental draft is meant for a special exemption that is made for NFL draft prospects that for
98:24whatever reason have lost their college eligibility. That is the whole point of the supplemental draft.
98:29There is an exception that is made, a special exemption that is made for these players.
98:34If you're going to make a special exception, you need to get not a majority.
98:39You need to have unanimous votes. I'm talking 12 out of 12.
98:43This, if you're going to do this, right? If you're a commissioner, I'm talking to every commissioner out there.
98:49If you do this and anyone in your league votes no on the scheme, don't do it.
98:54Don't do it. But again, and this is for the kid's mom.
98:58What was the kid's mom? What was, where was she?
99:01Oh my God. We've had so many comments. I've lost, I've lost Carter.
99:06It's Carter Jensen's mom. Mom, if you're a commissioner and you want to do the 2027 bidding because you think it's fun, great.
99:13If 11 others in your league also think it's fun and vote for it, do it.
99:18Please, by all means, go have fun and do it.
99:21It's great by all means. But if you don't have unanimity, don't do it.
99:26That's my advice. It's easier that way. I think, right?
99:29There's no reason to get in the weeds about it.
99:32Like we can, we can sit here and argue all we want.
99:36We should. Yeah. You know what? Anand coming from two guys that have talked about Brendan Soresby and all the various mechanics
99:43of him entering the NFL and then how dynasty leagues are going to manage the, the, the injection of Soresby into a
99:51fantasy sports league, two guys that talked about that for two hours.
99:54Right. I don't think we, I don't think we're in a very good position to criticize.
100:00Yeah. Fair. The, the one small update to Brendan Soresby.
100:03This is the whole situation. I mean, we hate minutia.
100:06We love it. We love minutia. This is, this is the whole story right here.
100:11Anand is holding up a book called everybody loses.
100:14That's right. With, with, yeah, this is the, this is the ultimate sports example of there is no winners.
100:20It's only losers. Only losers. And my final point is I also just in general love rookie drafts.
100:26I love rookie drafts. It's what I live for.
100:29They're exciting. Every time a rookie draft is starting, it's like opening a present on Christmas for me.
100:34And the better the rookie draft, the more talents in that rookie draft, the deeper it is, the more fun it is.
100:41So I'm also a fan of optimizing, maximizing the fun of a rookie draft and putting Soresby in the 2027 rookie draft
100:49makes the 2027 rookie draft more fun. And so, and I think, and no one would dispute that, right?
100:55The other thing is you could also say, Hey, um, I'm not even going to put it up for a vote, but
101:02if we have enough active owners and all 11 of you send in a thumbs up emoji, right?
101:08Whether it's via chat or email or whatever method, then I'll do it.
101:12Then let's go do it short of that. No, for all those reasons, the Steelers, we, we do, we, we, we have
101:19an obligation, even though again, two hours talking about this, we have an obligation to talk about a football player, not named Brendan Soresby.
101:27Thank God. I do want to ask you about the Steelers because this is the team.
101:32I think that is the most wayward franchise in the NFL.
101:35They went from a team that had the most easily identifiable identity to be a team that has the least identity.
101:42If there is a team that is a complete black box, I have no idea what they stand for, who they are, where they're going.
101:50It's the Steelers. And that is a cardinal sin.
101:53You need to start from the position of here's our mission statement.
101:57Here's our goal. Here's where we're going. And all our actions, all our moves, all of our transactions, everything we say in
102:04front of the media, it's all driving toward that purpose.
102:07With the Steelers, it's like, nah, we'll see what happens.
102:10I mean, I can't believe we're here. Where the Steelers are in quarterback purgatory and of all the teams around the league,
102:18they seem to be the least equipped to escape quarterback purgatory, which means they're going to luck into Arch Manning next year.
102:25I think this is just this whole show is just a long con to piss off your father-in-law.
102:30Just to bring this back, Fulzer, Matt years ago talked about how his father-in-law would get pissed off whenever he shits on the Steelers.
102:38So that's really what this is about. Yeah, my father-in-law is a Steelers, a Yenzer.
102:43And he, yeah, even created a Steelers like doormat, custom Steelers doormat.
102:47And I'm like, well, now I can like step on and step on the Steelers when I'm walking in.
102:53I mean, okay, if you want, I'll do that.
102:56I'm happy to do it. Again, again, again, again, again, again.
102:59Yeah. I mean, I don't think he has a stake in what happens with Brendan Soresby.
103:05But I do think that he is like many Steelers who are talking themselves into this team again.
103:10And it's like, please don't. The very weird thing about Pittsburgh's latest, you know, like the 2026 teams specifically.
103:17We talked about this for years. Their biggest advantage was that they drafted wide receiver better than just about anyone else in the middle rounds.
103:25Right. Right. And so what do they do with that?
103:28Right. This is an advantage, a competitive advantage that you have over years and years and years of drafting these players in these rounds.
103:36And they turn out to be all pros or, you know, you know, some of the best receivers in the league from time to time.
103:44And you're getting them in the third round, the fourth round, the fifth round, the sixth round.
103:49And so what do you do? What do you do with that?
103:53Well, you trade for a player, give up a first round pick for DK Metcalf.
103:58And you trade picks for DK Metcalf. And then you sign Michael Pittman Jr., a player that you didn't draft to develop.
104:05Right. So now you have all this money committed to these two wide receivers.
104:09But they're not even your best receiver because you have George Pickens.
104:13Well, so the question then becomes, oh, no, no, no.
104:17But you drafted Caleb Johnson. So you have a stud running back.
104:20No. So now the question becomes, right, with these two wide receivers.
104:24Clearly you're in win now mode, right? You can't wait a year or two to draft another guy.
104:30Oh, yeah. The Steelers are in win now mode.
104:33That's the best part. That's how you know they're the worst run franchise because that team is in win now mode.
104:40Well, convincing 40, what, 41, 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers to come back and save you that, that might not work.
104:46There's Will Howard, the six-pound draft pick that missed most of last year and didn't really get a shot.
104:52Now you got another one in Drew Aller, Penn State kid.
104:56And now you're going to hope that maybe he gives you a shot.
105:00What are we doing here? Their solution to the quarterback problem is Aaron Rodgers, their solution.
105:05You have, I'm pretty sure they still have the most expensive defense in the league.
105:10Oh, but they're, again, this is my question. They're trying to squeeze the last.
105:14Why? Ounce of production out of Aaron Rodgers. And they're trying to deprogram Drew Aller.
105:19That's, that's their strategy to solve the quarterback position.
105:22And I'm not, does this not remind you of Atlanta when Matt Ryan was on his way out the door and you're
105:29just like, commit to one or the other. Either you're going to go all in and really try to win now, which
105:36kind of, sort of, or you're going to accept, Hey, we got to tear this whole thing down and rebuild from the ground up.
105:44Maybe get a new voice in there, which good on them.
105:47You know, like they wanted to go for McCarthy fine, but I don't know what I really don't get here is the
105:55things that you do well are expensive for you.
105:57Historically, you've been a defense first team. Great. Defense is expensive.
106:01You draft wide receiver. Well, wide receiver is expensive.
106:04Everything that you have an advantage doing you've made expensive for yourself.
106:08So now you have no advantage. Your advantage is basically hope Aaron Rodgers brings back 2010 Aaron Rodgers.
106:14I don't think that's happening or know that Drew Aller or Will Howard break out as fourth and sixth round picks.
106:20I, I don't see it. I don't see the vision.
106:24I don't get it. But even if this is a break year, right?
106:28Why sign Michael Pittman Jr. Are you hoping that next year you plug in a quarterback in year one or two, they're ready to win a Super Bowl?
106:37That's the, that's the path that you're looking at.
106:40It's that narrow. Oh, oh my God. The uniforms, man.
106:43I, I just put Aaron Rodgers up on the screen with a futuristic.
106:47This is the futuristic version of the Steelers. And he does it.
106:51He has that galaxy brain helmet to the big, the big helmet, which is good for him.
106:56It's good. It's good for, uh, to, to, to, to preserve, uh, his brain health.
107:01Um, so, and, and he's smart guys on celebrity jeopardy.
107:05So I, I think that's a, that's a, of course he has, of course he has a protective helmet of why, because he's a rational person.
107:13Yeah. Uh, he knows that his brain function is the most important thing.
107:17So a good, good for him there. Uh, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the,
107:24the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the Michael Pittman
107:31signing and the, the, the choosing DK Metcalf over George Pickens, all these decisions they're making just the wrong, just stacking wrong
107:38decisions that the Drew Aller one was really a window into how rudderless this franchise is because it's, it's the perfect purgatory pick because it has value, right?
107:47That's a valuable pick. So there you're, you're like, okay, uh, this is a trade-off.
107:52There's opportunity cost here with Drew Aller, right? So we took him over a player that we think can help us or could help a rebuilding team, right?
108:01If, if, if they were rebuilding with eyes wide open, then they would go ahead and, and, and maybe use that on
108:08like a guard or, or some kind of foundational long-term foundation, foundational piece, uh, in, in day three.
108:14Did they do that? No. Right. They, they used it on a quarterback who is a total long shot.
108:20The percentage chance that a guy like Drew Aller based on where he's drafted ends up becoming an every week starter and
108:27earning like a franchise quarterback level salary, uh, in contract at some point, it's almost as low as a quarterback drafted in
108:35round seven round, you know, or, or, or even round six or round five in those rounds, round five, round six, round seven, there's not much opportunity cost.
108:44You're talking about depth pieces. Anyway, you're talking about backup linebackers, right?
108:47A guy that's going to cap out as your, as your fourth corner, right?
108:52That's not a big trade-off go right ahead and take Aller in that situation.
108:56No problem. Right. But when it, when we're talking about a day to pick now, all of a sudden they're committing real
109:04capital to a guy that they think could become like a, like a, like a cornerstone of their, of their franchise.
109:10And it, that's not in Drew Aller's range of outcomes.
109:14So right there, it's like such an indictment that pick pick 76 drew Aller should have horrified anyone in Pittsburgh because it's
109:21neither a win now move nor a rebuilding move.
109:24It's the ultimate purgatory move. It's a great, we like the traits, but we don't like the player move.
109:30Like if you looked at him, right? Like if you just watched him in a throwing session, you'd be like, wow, that's really impressive QB.
109:38But then you get out onto the field. He looked worse at Penn state than he did in high school.
109:44Like this was a guy that we're going to deprogram him.
109:48We're going to deprogram. How are you going to deprogram four years of not great, man?
109:53He's probably just not great. I understand the fascination with, there are very few body types that look like that, that can throw like he throws again.
110:02That's, that's the 10% of the job. The 90% is what you have to figure out.
110:07The 90% of the job is what you have to figure out.
110:11Throwing the ball as hard as you can and looking good, doing it as 10% of the job.
110:16Like that's, you're missing the forest for the trees.
110:19This is not like, I don't think that he would be ready to start for two years, even in the best case scenario.
110:27So what are we doing? What are we doing?
110:30I don't know. Early third round pick. I don't get it.
110:33And we have the best commenters. I mean, we, we, we're, we're, we're, we're live streaming to a lot of people, hundreds and hundreds of people.
110:42And they are clever. This one guy in the comments says that Aller was the biggest humiliation that Penn state has experienced since Sandusky.
110:49That's an extreme comment. That is an, that is an extreme comment.
110:53I'm not going to comment on the comment, but that is just an extreme comment.
110:58And it just, it, it's the state of Pennsylvania, man.
111:01I just feel bad. I like the idea of the Pittsburgh Steelers being the Pittsburgh Steelers, but for the first time in my life, right?
111:09My I'm, I'm, I'm a man in my forties.
111:12This is the first time where I I'm like, I don't recognize this franchise.
111:17These are not the Steelers. I, who is running this place and you know, uh, you know, come out from the shadows, uh, you know, be held accountable.
111:26Right. And not there in the shadows. I mean, there's not, there's not, it's like, it's on the name, their names on the door.
111:33It's on the website. Like we know who the GM is.
111:37Who's the GM? Omar Khan. Omar Khan. Okay. Omar Khan.
111:40Stop hiding. And he's not hiding. He's not hiding at all.
111:44He's not hiding at all, but he's hiding from accountability because the accountability hasn't arrived yet, but soon it will arrive.
111:51And ideally they move on from him because you can't, you can't be responsible for acquiring Michael Pittman and DK Metcalf, letting
111:58George Pickens go using valuable draft capital on Drew Aller, uh, letting Aaron Rogers hold your franchise hostage.
112:03Not having a mission, not having an identity and not having any kind of strategic long-term vision for the franchise.
112:10That person needs to be held accountable in almost every case.
112:13They are. They are. There is one scenario that could unfold that could protect Omar Khan from accountability.
112:19And that is he accidentally drives this team into the ground because I think he wants to win, which is part of the problem, right?
112:27He thinks this is a team that can win games and make the playoffs.
112:32And that's just, that's just a, he's just misinformed.
112:35And, you know, either it's incompetence or it's ignorance, either way, you shouldn't be the leader if you're letting this happen.
112:42Uh, and if you're building, you're making moves based on false assumptions.
112:45And so that's what they're doing, but, but it could all be wiped clean if they lose a lot more games than they expect.
112:53If this team is, is as bad as it looks, I mean, their offensive linemen are, are, are missing time, uh, and
113:00their careers are now in jeopardy, right? They've got, uh, they're, they're starting left tackle has a neck problem that, that is spinal.
113:08You seen this? I have not. Right. So there's questions about, Hey, when, when will they have a complete offensive line?
113:14It's like, uh, if at all this year. Okay.
113:17And that's, and that's before we even look at like the quarterback, right.
113:22And other pieces are aging, right? And so they're getting older.
113:25And so you, you, you, you just, you project this roster out two years and it is a talent desert.
113:32Yeah. It's not pretty. No, it is. But you have to do that now.
113:36You can't let it get to that point. You can't wake up in two years and realize you have the least talented roster in the league.
113:44I mean, we've mocked the GMs that have run those teams into the ground historically.
113:49And that's what's happening right now, but it's too late because they've already committed all of this sort of organizational, uh, sort
113:56of investment into a dead end quarterback. And it's just, it's Broderick Jones.
114:01I believe is it Broderick Jones. Is that I believe, um, I just want to get, I want to get this right
114:08because, um, yeah, they, the Steelers are now entertaining offers for Broderick Jones because he does.
114:13He did experience a neck injury in week 12 of 2025.
114:16And he has since suffered a setback and his availability for the upcoming season is highly uncertain.
114:22Oh boy. This is their left. This is their cornerstone left tackle for an immobile quarterback, right?
114:27This is the blind side protector of a quarterback that has some of the least mobility in the league.
114:33All signs are pointing to the Steelers being highly disappointing this year.
114:37And they could be so disappointing as many other teams are improving, right?
114:41The Titans are improving. There's so many teams that are, that are where the arrow is pointing up.
114:47The worst teams in the league are all in, in, in, in, in the process of improving.
114:53It's actually pretty cool to see a lot of these teams with top picks position to exceed expectations this year.
114:59The Steelers will not, they will miss expectations this year.
115:02They could miss expectations so dramatically at on end that they end up with Arch Manning and all is forgiven.
115:09And this is, and none of this, everything I've laid out is all obsolete.
115:13It never happened. It's like a, it's like a, uh, an alternate reality for the franchise.
115:19You know, you know how like, uh, whenever someone takes over like a not so great apartment, there's always the, there's like
115:26a thin layer of white paint over everything. There may be a spider on the wall and we just put paint over it.
115:33There's a light switch that been painted seven times.
115:36Right. And that's, that's what Arch Manning would do.
115:39He'd just be the fresh light layer of paint right over every problem that they've got in their apartment right now.
115:46Okay. Can we just, uh, Mark six, eight, six, eight, one, eight, seven, six something.
115:50He's a commenter. He's a great commenter. He knows things.
115:54He says, don't forget about recent first round picks Najee Harris and Kenny Pickett.
115:58Oh yeah. They're already gone. Like that's, that's not, uh, that that's not how you want to do things.
116:04Kids. Yikes today in yikes. Yikes. Yeah. Not good, man.
116:08You're looking for some kind of direction and the direction right now is South.
116:12Not good. Steelers are really bad. Really, really, really, really, really bad.
116:16And they're going to get worse before they get better, but they could get completely and utterly bailed out.
116:22Yep. That's that you just gotta, you gotta look for that.
116:26You look for that. Pick up a lottery ticket, man.
116:29Sometimes it hits. It's it. I, I, I am, uh, uh, man, I'm going to really relish this.
116:35If they finish like bad, but they win like five games, four games, five games, but they're out on Arch Manning, right?
116:42They miss out on Arch Manning by a couple of picks.
116:45That would be best case scenario for me personally.
116:48That would be best case scenario for me and my family dynamics.
116:52I would love that. That would be, that would be so perfect.
116:56Would that be betting against themselves to bet on themselves long-term?
117:00Is that what you're saying? I don't understand what you're saying, but I believe you.
117:04They're betting against themselves short-term bet on themselves long-term, but they're, they're, they're betting on themselves short-term, which will inevitably lead to
117:11them accidentally betting on themselves in the long-term. Yeah.
117:14Yeah. They're, they're basically tanking their short-term to win in the long-term.
117:18They're not tanking though. That's the whole point is they're not doing any of this deliberately.
117:23None of this is strategic. Oh, I'm not saying that it's strategic.
117:27I'm just saying what they're doing. All the good things that happened to the Pittsburgh Steelers the next five years are going to be completely 100% accidental.
117:36Let them win. You know, the best, the best thing that could possibly happen for the content, right?
117:42Is that they start off like four and eight and then inexplicably rail off like four wins in December and November.
117:49Cause it'd be perfect Steeler football, right? We're nine and eight.
117:52We're eight and nine. Every year, you know, every year the Steelers exceed their Pythagorean win expectation.
117:58Just don't even go to that. Don't even go to that extent.
118:01Don't even, you don't have to get really analytical about it.
118:05Just look at the, the point differential, right? How many years we looked up the Steelers had a negative point differential, but they win 10 games.
118:13Yeah. Like they have been the luckiest win loss franchise in the NFL the last decade.
118:19And if this is the year it all catches up, right?
118:22If this would be the year, they're so lucky that this would be the year that, oh, actually we have a reasonable
118:29point differential, but we keep losing all these close games.
118:32Oh, damn it. We got Arch Manning. Shoot. Oh, well, I guess we ended up with Arch Manning after all.
118:39That would be worst case scenario for the pod father.
118:42Thanksgiving dinner would be a hell of a time though.
118:45Yeah. I mean, I'm happy to actually, you know what?
118:49I'm happy to, you know, break down Arch Manning from, from my, my father-in-law.
118:53I think that I'd have a good time doing that.
118:56We, we do, we do have more to talk about, but we are at the end of the show.
119:02We've spent so much time talking about Sorsby that we're well over two hours recording time.
119:08We did not get a chance to talk about Mike Vrabel.
119:11We did not get a chance to talk about Josh Jacobs.
119:15And we did not get a chance to talk about Jackson Dart.
