1:54Time now for Fantasy Football Weekly from iHeartRadio. Your weekly source for the nation's best fantasy speculation and advice.
2:00All right, what's going on? What's up, everyone? And welcome back to Fantasy Football Weekly with your host and faithful narrator, John
2:07Laghezza, at that same handle on socials. My friend and yours in the sidecar, Mr.
2:11Jake Trowbridge. How are you doing in your drafting season now that it's kicked off, Mr.
2:16Jake? Oh, geez. Drafting season is, it's unstoppable. You know, I keep waiting for a pause in this drafting season.
2:23And it just hasn't come yet. I don't know if it's ever going to, John.
2:28But I don't know how I'm feeling today. I'll be honest with you, John, because I heard some news earlier this week
2:35that's just, it's putting me in a weird headspace.
2:37I heard that Russell Wilson is pseudo-retiring, I guess.
2:40And he's going to be moving on to like pregame analysis.
2:44This puts me in a weird spot because on one hand, I'm a Wisconsin Badger alum, and I appreciate Russell Wilson and
2:51his one magic season that he gave us. But on the other hand, I'm a Packers fan.
2:56And he was a consistent, annoying thorn in my side his entire time as a Seahawk.
3:01So I don't know what to think. Do you have any takeaway on that, John?
3:06My only takeaway is that you somehow managed to, you know, horn him into the conversation today.
3:11I left him off the topic list. I don't know what it is.
3:15And this is the worst type of football analysis.
3:18It was the Subway commercials that put me off it totally.
3:22That was it. I was like, I'm done. All the Mr.
3:25Unlimited stuff. Oh, my goodness. Although, you know what?
3:28I'm a wrestling guy, and there's something to being a good heel.
3:32And he has like a heelish quality with like a smile on.
3:35So there's always something that I did kind of like.
3:39Anyway, best to him. I actually think he might be good in that role.
3:43I was worried when I saw the news that maybe he was going to sign somewhere.
3:48There had been rumors of that. And I was glad.
3:51I think we've seen the end of that. But you're right.
3:55It really wasn't terrible at points. In fact, I think because of the joking like people like me was just doing, I
4:02don't think he gets maybe enough credit for how good he was.
4:06Because I really think he was really good for a little while.
4:09And from a fantasy aspect, there was a little time when he was running too, which is kind of exciting.
4:16All right. Today's show title, Mr. Jake, is news, trades, and old.
4:19So we have a little bit of breaking news.
4:22It was a big trade. And then we're going to talk about some old guys.
4:27Maybe they've given us one last hurrah before we get out of here.
4:31The breaking news today, and I'm going to quote because it is legalese a little bit.
4:36A warrant for Brandon Ayuk's arrest has been issued in Northern California.
4:40The 49ers receiver is wanted on a misdemeanor charge of exhibition of speed.
4:44The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office confirmed to the California Post.
4:48I have to be very clear. When it's legal stuff, I don't want to misframe at all.
4:53Now, I did a little bit of research. He posted a video of himself doing over 100 outside Levi's Stadium.
5:00Good advice for any of the younger people out there.
5:03If you're going to commit crimes, which I don't suggest, don't record them.
5:07There's that thing called evidence. So now he's in a little bit of trouble.
5:11I don't know if it's going to matter too much.
5:14He's at ADP 177. Usually news will drive someone down.
5:18Did you have Ayuk in your plan at all, Jake?
5:21I think that's the first place to start because you might not even care.
5:25No, I didn't really. It's not that I don't care.
5:28It's that I had no plan to draft him this year.
5:32It just feels like the 49ers are dragging this out as long as possible.
5:36They could have released him. They could release him now, hypothetically.
5:40They could give him the option to be traded.
5:42It just feels like they're going to drag this out into the very last minute.
5:47Ayuk has not been on a football field and productive in two plus years now.
5:52It feels like forever. I just think he's on the Michael Thomas trajectory where it's like, hey, enjoy him while you had him.
5:59But I think it's just kind of over now.
6:02That's where I stand on it, at least, John.
6:05It's funny. You mentioned the Niners. They really come off kind of petty sometimes.
6:09And I like that. There's something about that I like.
6:13Like, if you're out of line, we're going to punish you.
6:16And we're not even going to release you. We're going to really kind of twist the horns.
6:21Now, the reason I mention it, this had come up earlier when we first were really kicking off.
6:27I have been drafting Brandon Ayuk. He's going really, really late.
6:31And I think from a talent perspective, he's the most talented wide receiver at that point.
6:36You mentioned the rust. I still have the best ball brain.
6:39That's where I'm going. Remember, he does have the shower narrative with Jaden Daniels.
6:43They played together at Arizona State in 2019. And they're like best friends.
6:48So, a lot of people in the Washington sphere have been hoping that Ayuk could go there.
6:53I think he'd be a really good compliment. They bring Daniels back.
6:57The reason I mention is because, I'm not even sure how good I think he'll be.
7:02But I do think if Ayuk signs with Washington, he probably moves up around the two.
7:07Would you give me that at least? Yeah, just because Washington has no clear-cut number two right now.
7:13And you could argue if he goes there that he's the 1B, I suppose, with Terry McLaurin.
7:18Just because Terry McLaurin looked a little bit off last year.
7:21So, I get that part of it. And I suppose I would adjust if that happens.
7:26Yeah, again, we're not trying to put him into the top.
7:30Even 150. I think I'm willing to go up another round if he signs.
7:34But again, this is really just best ball brain.
7:37In redraft, I would want to see something first.
7:40Because I try not to take early zeros where, again, the best ball is a full season kind of macro view.
7:47Where if you think you could get something, right?
7:50They end up connecting. They get a little chemistry.
7:52And we knock off some rust by the end of the year.
7:56You could see me telling the fairy tale where it works.
8:00All right, enough of that. The big blockbuster trade.
8:02Funny, we're going to talk about defense for a second.
8:06But I do think it'll bleed into the offensive fantasy stuff we care so much about.
8:11Rams and Browns finalize the trade. Miles Garrett to the Rams.
8:14Yes, Schefter reported it. And Cleveland gets back Jared Verst and a 27 first round pick.
8:19Enough of me. What did you take from the trade at all?
8:23And did you pick up on any fantasy implications?
8:26I mean, I just got done actually writing an article about Ty Simpson for this.
8:31Ty Simpson, the rookie that they took in the first round, the Rams did.
8:35It put him in a very strange spot once they did that.
8:39And then extended Matthew Stafford for another year. You go, okay, well, this guy's not going to see the field for another two years.
8:46And it got me, you of course, weren't thinking about Ty Simpson for this year for fantasy.
8:52But for long term, it was curious. And then they make this trade and they give away their first next year and they go all in.
9:00So the fantasy side of me for this, John says, they are, I guess you could call it hedging in a way,
9:07but it actually does secure Ty Simpson as the successor to Matt Stafford, which I actually did not believe was locked in
9:14if they held next year's first round pick. Because Les Snead doesn't care about first round picks.
9:19We know he would give it up if the young guy didn't move along at a clip that they wanted him to during this first year.
9:27But now they won't really have that option. So I think it's interesting.
9:32I do think it means that they believe Stafford's going to be healthy though for this year, at least and next.
9:38Like any worries about his back and all that stuff from last offseason.
9:42It seems like this really put that to rest for me.
9:46So I'm, I'm not adjusting the ranks crazy on anybody for this year on either side, but I will say when it
9:53starts, you know, the real fantasy season in earnest, check your matchups when you're playing against the Rams, when your players are
10:00playing against the Rams, it got even scarier for him.
10:03So I've been sharpening my dynasty mind hanging around you.
10:06Would you boost Simpson up now where like you're worried maybe he was falling into more of a rotational backup, a guy
10:13that's going to get moved around and maybe never be that viable?
10:17This, I think you nailed the main thing for his future is at the very least right now, that's a major vote of confidence.
10:24So are you boosting Simpson up? Like, does he get a major boost for dynasty leagues?
10:29For this particular trade, it kept him from falling further for me.
10:33I've been low on tives since and lower than most people.
10:37People were drafting him in the first round of rookie drafts.
10:40I was taking him in the early second. Collectively, the Stafford extension plus this trade only had him drop down a couple of spots.
10:48Without this trade though, for Miles Garrett, he would have fallen even further down the second round for me.
10:54So it kind of helped recoup some value for him.
10:57Yeah, I was so excited to actually open up my defensive stats.
11:01I'm a huge defensive guy. I really love it.
11:04And it's the center point of a lot of my analysis when we get into the season and stuff.
11:10So people are trying to make this comparison between Vers and Garrett.
11:13Vers, a very good player. And I think, you know, Cleveland kind of a future team.
11:18I do think it makes sense. So I'm fine with it.
11:22But we should not be really equating the two.
11:25Of all 115 front seven defenders. So we're talking, you know, DE's, edges, linebackers.
11:29You know, this kind of gets a little vague now.
11:32But I call them front seven defenders. Of the 115 that had 50 tackles, the stat that people are quoting to equate
11:39the two players would be Garrett had 84 pressures.
11:42He was third in the league. And Vers had 80, which was fifth in the league.
11:47Which is very good. Again, this is a disruptor.
11:50And those things matter. There's no question. However, any more of like a, you know, thread pull on any of these metrics.
11:57Garrett is such a separator and such a difference maker.
12:00So sacks. Garrett had 23 to versus seven and a half.
12:04I mean, that is two other players worth of sacks.
12:07And then I use splash plays, Jake. And I wonder if the next time you go, if you want to chime in on this.
12:14So splash plays are just everything good. It's a tackle for a loss.
12:18It's a run stop. It's a batted pass. It's a fourth and short stop.
12:23It's a third and short stop. It's a forced fumble.
12:26It's an interception. It's all the good things, right?
12:29It's all the impact plays. The plays that make you go, ooh.
12:33And Garrett, of course, he was second in the league, 54, verse, all the way down at 35th with 35.
12:39So I think Garrett is, you know, a huge piece and a difference maker right now.
12:44My question for fantasy. Does it hurt the Rams' pass game?
12:47I mean, gosh, you mentioned you better circle it.
12:50Why? Because the Rams are going to be really tough.
12:53I think their projected points against is going to drop significantly.
12:57They could be in a lot of positive late game scripts.
13:00Does this knock Kua behind JSN? That's been the question I've been taking from that long time.
13:06What do you think? I don't know if this particular thing had me bump Kuka below JSN, but I was already considering
13:13JSN as a guy above Kuka for a number of reasons, not the least of which is some of the off-field stuff
13:20too that's been happening here that you just have to use as tiebreakers.
13:24What I think is most interesting about what you said, though, is putting Garrett on the Rams and looking at it from
13:31a game script perspective is maybe this does actually bump up Kyron Williams more than where I should have been having him.
13:38Or Blake Corum, if you believe that late in the games, they're actually going to use the second running back to kind
13:45of salt things away a little bit more. I wonder if we should be raising those two running backs up in the
13:52ranks a little bit for the Rams. And maybe on the flip side, should we be boosting the Cleveland pass catchers?
13:58Assuming that now there's even a lesser chance for them to stay in the games?
14:03Like, should this be a bump up for Fannin and KC Concepcion, John?
14:07It's been a couple weeks since you hacked my topic sheet, Jake, and there you are up in my notes because the
14:14next two things I had was if if the Rams pass game is too consolidated to push Puka down at all, shouldn't
14:21it boost the two headed monster in the Rams backfield?
14:24And then I wrote and I quote, conversely, does this boost the Cleveland pass game?
14:29And I think I think that is the yes.
14:32Garrett is such a disruptor. There are very few players that get mentioned, you know, in that ilk.
14:37He really changes everything. And as good as versus, he's not written in bold letters at the top of a game plan where Garrett absolutely is.
14:46And even when you have an answer for Garrett, you could be in trouble because the sacrifice you make to achieve that
14:53goal opens up all types of other vulnerabilities. So I'm kind of, I think where we're going is now I had JSN ahead of Puka anyway.
15:01So maybe we're in agreement there. But yeah, I'm dinging the Rams pass game a little bit.
15:06But I'm giving getting vibes of this might have been like the Eagles.
15:10Remember the Eagles two years ago, just killing people in the first half to the point that even if you like to
15:17throw and your pass rate above expectation is in the green, you're not out there taking high risks when you're up three touchdowns, right?
15:25That's that's bad football. That's not winning football. So I think people want to you want to think about that.
15:31And wow, hard not to be really bullish on the Rams.
15:35Last thing to you with the Simpson thing, I'm having a hard time getting over.
15:39The Simpson pick and the Garrett trade are kind of mixed signals for win now for me a little bit.
15:46And then especially with the extension of Stafford, because then I'm thinking, well, maybe they all worried about Stafford's health.
15:52Well, they extended him. So I don't know. They speak really highly of Simpson.
15:56And man, I don't know. How do you feel about him as a late best ball pair if you have Stafford?
16:03Because I've worried and I think it's reasonable if you're worried about Stafford's health.
16:07He's very much connected to, you know, Nakua. And it would ding it if you're worried about Stafford.
16:13Not the Simpsons of one V one replacement. But do you think he can at least keep the ship afloat if they
16:20need him in the double digit weeks? I mean, no.
16:23I don't like Ty Simpson at all for this year.
16:26That's again why I was so low on him for Dynasty.
16:30He has a track record in college that is so rare for a true breakout to happen in the NFL, where I
16:37was giving him the benefit of the doubt was saying, OK, now he has two years to actually sit, if that's the
16:44plan, and have that Jordan Love-esque development, which he so badly needs.
16:48If he gets thrown in this year, I mean, the best thing that will happen is that the defense will keep them in positive game scripts.
16:56But I'm not expecting fireworks from Ty Simpson. So if you are not of the belief that Matt Stafford is going to
17:03be playing out there in week 15, 16, whatever, I would be staying away from the Rams probably for best ball.
17:09And I love your prospect work and analysis. It's really helpful.
17:13And also, I'm glad, you know, we shouldn't always agree.
17:16I'm glad that you have your takes and you kind of put the flag down and say, yes and no, people do
17:23tend to, you know, swing in the wind a little bit.
17:26And when we're making these investments or making these stands, drafting these teams, you have to kind of, you know, you got
17:33to kind of stand firm in your convictions. All right, Jake, we're right at the halfway point.
17:39Let me just shift a couple papers around because then we got to get into another one.
17:44There was another trade that really rocked the fantasy world.
17:47This is Tab Ramos from Inside American Soccer. And this summer, Topgolf is turning into the ultimate soccer destination.
17:53They're not just throwing games on in the background.

19:41You know what's become a literal nightmare lately? International travel.
19:45Why sit on a plane for 14 hours to get to Lake Como when you could be having the time of your
19:51life at Caesars Republic in beautiful Lake Tahoe? Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe has it all.
19:56The splendor of Lake Como without all the unmagical moments that come with international travel.
20:01It's all there. Amazing dining options with restaurants like Wolf by Vanderpump and Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen.

20:33Are we sure A.J. Brown is going to New England?
20:36Well, yes. Long story short, he did go. Right there goes Morgan Freeman narrator voice, right?
20:41He did, in fact, go to New England. Trade three-time Pro Bowler A.J.
20:45Brown to the Pats. They sent a 20-28 first-round pick and a 27-5th-round pick to Philadelphia.
20:50So, you know, initial thoughts on A.J. Brown. Again, I don't think the market has really reacted to it because a lot of it was baked in.
20:59Yeah, this was already assumed. This felt like the thing that we were just waiting until June 1st actually hit for it to happen.
21:06And then it was like minutes after June 1st, the clock rolled on that day.
21:11We're like, when's it happening? And then we didn't have to wait long.
21:15So I think the market isn't going to adjust because this was a foregone conclusion.
21:20But sorting through the aftermath of it, the things that I was already planning on, and this just cements, I guess, for
21:27me, is I'm heavily invested in Makai Lemon, both from a dynasty perspective and from a redraft perspective.
21:33I was very bummed, this flashed across my little news desk, if you will, earlier that Lemon, I guess, injured his hamstring a little bit.
21:40He's supposed to be good for training camp. So hopefully it's not a big deal.
21:45But you never know with those soft tissue injuries.
21:48But if he's healthy, I expect a 1A, 1B situation between him and Devontae Smith.
21:53I know a lot of people, and maybe yourself included, are hoping or projecting for Devontae Smith to sort of take over that lead role.
22:01I don't know. Because I just think the Eagles' offense is going to look completely revamped without A.J.
22:06Brown. Like, they obviously have a plan for what to do with this group, and it's not going to look like the old offense.
22:14And maybe that means Dallas Goddard gets tons of red zone looks this year.
22:18You know, we're looking at a 12-touchdown season from him.
22:22Maybe even Dontavian Wicks gets involved. It's kind of like the only bigger body receiver that they have.
22:27Or maybe it's wheels all the way up on Saquon.
22:30It just feels like I'm so good with Jalen Hurts.
22:34And that's my question to you was how much, if any, are you bumping Jalen Hurts down?
22:39Because I think I'm still right there where I was with him.
22:43Yeah, I'm not really moving Hurts at all. I think the Eagles, I mean, they did pretty well without Brown.
22:49And while he was upset, and if you're getting an excited lemon, I think the Eagles have shown a lot of versatility.
22:56And I also think Hurts' style of play, you know, opens himself up to a lot of different styles of success, right?
23:03Because he could break plays down if you turn your back.
23:06He can take off. He can throw the deep ball.
23:10He can throw the intermediate ball. I've always been a little bit higher on his throwing ability than the market.
23:16I don't think he's John Elway. But I do think he's better.
23:20I think he took a lot of heat that might have been unnecessary.
23:24Again, you want A.J. Brown. He's a very good player.
23:27You kind of worked it backwards. So, yeah, I think the Phillies, the Phillies, the Eagles backfill, like a baseball brain, is very strong, right?
23:35I'm very bullish on the Eagles still because I think the word is consolidation, right?
23:40Even if you like Wicks a little bit, a lot of targets are going to go to the wideouts.
23:46And Goddard really ate on touchdowns. And he may get that also.
23:49So, again, it's really consolidated. And I think being excited about the Eagles is fine.
23:54I wanted to look at the other side really quick.
23:57So A.J. Brown last year was still the wide receiver 11.
24:01Right now he's the wide receiver 8 by ADP.
24:04That's ADP 22. He had four top five finishes last season.
24:07And a lot of the stats look really good.
24:10I'm up in the spreadsheet right now. He ran 480 routes, 121 targets.
24:14He went 78, 1,003, and 7, which is over eight targets a game.
24:18We love it. Only five catches, but we know the depth of target, you know, is going to be a little bit more risky, right?
24:26They're a little lower probability. But you do get over two yards per route.
24:30You know, he had 95 air yards per game.
24:33Most of it is out wide, commander of a deep target.
24:37And I think that's why I'm so bullish now on A.J.B.
24:40And, you know, he's only 29. People have talked about age.
24:44I think the injury behind him now, Drake May to hook him up in this deep connection, is really got me excited, Jake.
24:51So Drake May last year had 67 deep completions.
24:54That was number two. He had a .95 EPA per attempt on deep shots.
24:58That was number one with a bullet. I mean, the connection here seems a little too obvious.
25:04We even saw somebody like Keyshawn Booty. I mean, he thrived.
25:07He thrived as the deep guy there. It's funny, a couple of the best ball bros are, you know, really hitting Booty pretty hard.
25:15Man, he was super efficient. And if you get anything like that from A.J.B., I think first-round return is there.
25:21I'm drafting A.J. Brown. Where are you slotting him?
25:24Are you okay with him at? You know, like I said, it's ADP 22, so you'd realistically have to take him over George Pickens and Nico Collins.
25:32Could you rank those three for us? Yeah, first of all, hitting Booty pretty hard has to be a fantasy team name for somebody out there.
25:41We can't just breeze right past that. It has to happen.
25:44But, yeah, assuming that that holds up, assuming that Drake may, in tougher competition, because the other thing with Drake May has
25:51been the schedule was easy last year. It's going to be a lot harder this year.
25:56Can he hold up to it? My answer would be yes, especially because he now has A.J.
26:01Brown. So A.J. Brown versus Nico Collins, I think just based on the quarterbacks, I would want to go with A.J.
26:08Brown. I'm as big of a Romeo Dobbs apologist as there is as a Packer fan.
26:13I love the guy. I think he's slightly underrated.
26:16But for fantasy, he is in a distant, distant second compared to A.J.
26:20Brown. So I would take A.J. Brown over Nico Collins.
26:23And I'm sorry, who's the third guy that you threw in there?
26:27George Pickens. So George Pickens has the T. Higgins vibe of yesteryear, right?
26:31The clear number two, but would be like the number one overall, which we saw.
26:36But I think that's really the question is, can you take a wide receiver who's not the number one target on his
26:43own team over guys who are the clear ones?
26:46Yeah, and I wouldn't do it. So I would keep George Pickens at a steady third in that group.
26:52Yeah, actually, I'm with you. I'm lockstep. I didn't realize how much I'd be into A.J.
26:57Brown until I really started looking deep. Until, man, the maze deep ball is known.
27:02It's really, really great. And I think the run game is going to improve.
27:06I think he's improved. And to your Dobbs point, who, man, I guess call me as a Jets fan.
27:12This is like sacrilege. But I'm a big Patriots guy this year.
27:16Because Dobbs at 115, I think he's the type who benefits from getting A.J.
27:20Brown. We don't. You did not want Romeo Dobbs to be the focal point of a passing offense.
27:26You know, people get themselves in trouble with this, Jake.
27:29I think, you know, oh, but here, all the targets.
27:32It's all the attention also. We don't want all the attention.
27:36Let A.J. Brown and Trevion get all the attention.
27:38I think Dobbs actually hurts a guy like Hunter Henry, who is really more of a correlated pick.
27:44To me, he doesn't really move the needle. I would not be interested in him and redraft.
27:50But, yeah, I'm a Dobbs apologist. Let's start apologizing.
27:52Because the price, to me, is right. You know, he's at pick 115.
27:56He's even starting to slide. Because I think people are saying, oh, he's not the one anymore.
28:02I like him better as the B than the A.
28:05All right, let's talk about some olds that you think, oh, you know what?
28:09I'm sorry. We had one more. The Giants were very busy.
28:13How did I forget this? Although, this is going to lead us into the olds.
28:18Okay, so I'm going to give you the three signings.
28:21You can take it wherever you want. I can't believe this.
28:24The Giants signed Odell Beckham. The Giants signed Juju Smith-Schuster.
28:27I was joking. They must have found, like, an MB Fantasy Life magazine from, like, 2020.
28:32And I'm like, oh, my gosh. This guy's, oh, man.
28:36Old Al Beckham's on the cover. I'm like, this guy's really good.
28:39Well, I don't know. And then they also signed Braxton Berrios.
28:43He was the third player of the Giants. So I just signed for the audio people.
28:48Jake visibly, you know, sighing. So talk to us about the three signings.
28:52Do any or all of them matter to you?
28:55None of them matter individually. Like, I'm not drafting any of these guys for my fantasy team.
29:00Old Al Beckham is 33 years old. He's on his fifth different team since, like, 2021.
29:05And he didn't even play in two whole seasons during that stretch.
29:09So just anybody with the name recognition seeing OBJ and with all the stuff about Malik Neighbors, which is what we really
29:16want to talk about, just stay away. Don't do it.
29:19But with Malik Neighbors, you just wonder, if you're bringing in this many reserves, is it because you want a bunch of
29:26steady wide receivers for your quarterback to be throwing to during training camp?
29:30Like, are these camp bodies that you just want to inundate him with to help his progress?
29:36Or is it Malik Neighbors? It's looking worse. The knee injury is like, in week three, is he going to be out there?
29:43We need somebody. We don't want to spend a lot because we're the giants and we don't know who to go get anyways in earnest.
29:51So let's just throw a few bucks at these guys.
29:54It has me a little nervous for Malik Neighbors.
29:57And we'd already been nervous for Malik Neighbors, John.

31:56Why sit on a plane for 14 hours to get to Lake Como when you could be having the time of your

32:07The splendor of Lake Como without all the unmagical moments that come with international travel.

32:34And don't forget, all of this right in your backyard.
32:37Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe book today. Yeah, I thought you were going to segue into the softball game that went viral, that softball clip.
32:45When you mentioned neighbors, if anyone hasn't seen it, again, I am not a biomechanical sports scientist by any means, but I
32:52have seen a lot of fat, broken old men playing softball, and that's what that looked like.
32:57More than... We're talking about, right, a premier elite athlete that is getting ready to take the world's most physical sport by storm in six weeks.
33:05If you saw the gate on that run to first, even if you're saying, oh, he's not sprinting, it didn't look good.
33:12He didn't look comfortable. He did... Again, forget fast.
33:15He just... He did not look comfortable at all.
33:18None of this, for me, is a good sign for the Giants.
33:22I think you nailed the camp body thing, right?
33:24People also think, oh, they signed them. It doesn't matter.
33:28They're all veteran deals. They could cut them all tomorrow.
33:31I think they're, you know, trying to see if they could find anything.
33:35Maybe Odell has enough burst to get you a month, right?
33:38I don't think anyone realistically is expecting 17 games, you know?
33:42Can... Maybe Juju can operate underneath. Maybe he can.
33:45This is going to be crazy, but I actually think the big fantasy value, and this I've been talking about too much
33:52best ball, this is a redraft play for me, is Braxton Berrios in the last round of every single redraft league.
33:58John, don't. Don't say this. The answer is... You either die the hero or live long enough to recommend Braxton Berrios.
34:05But again, the premise is not that crazy, I think, because the Giants moved on from Wandale Robinson, and that was quite
34:12literally the most prolific piece from the least amount of talent in fantasy football last year, right?
34:17There was... That's 915 snaps, 140 targets vacated, and a ton of those were in the slot.
34:23I have this here. He ran 23 slot routes a game.
34:26He had over six slot targets a game. There is a functional opening in the Giants offense that is in desperate need of filling.
34:34Dart loves the underneath. I mentioned Hurts with the breaking down of plays.
34:38A lot of times, mobile guys, that's where they end up going.
34:42They take their maybe eye off the downfield, and as they start to shimmy and shake, the slot guy is the closest, but also moving to you underneath.
34:50There's a world where Braxton Berrios... And we've got to clip this, right?
34:54Is a wide receiver two through the first four weeks of the season.
34:59Now, as I was thinking about it, I guess maybe that could be Juju also, but man, Juju really has not looked good.
35:06He's looked very slow. He hasn't had more than 350 yards or more than two touchdowns in the past three seasons.
35:13So, can I sell you on Berrios, or at least light the bulb for the slot route job in New York?
35:19You've got me thinking. You've got me thinking about this.
35:22Shame on me for prejudging that, first of all.
35:25I should have heard you out first. No, I love that.
35:29I love that. I hear Braxton Berrios in my brain just shuts down, but I think you are on to a point
35:36of he's going to want to attack the middle of the field.
35:39Me, it's also just my bias because I'm like, this is just more wheels up for Isaiah Likely.
35:45This is just me pumping up that ADP on the tight ends, and maybe even Theo Johnson is still good there or something.
35:52But you're right. So, I'm going to keep my eye on kind of camp to see who sticks around and who actually looks decent from that perspective.
36:01And I might join you there when we're in August.

37:58You know what's become a literal nightmare lately? International travel.
38:02Why sit on a plane for 14 hours to get to Lake Como when you could be having the time of your
38:08life at Caesars Republic in beautiful Lake Tahoe? Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe has it all.
38:13The splendor of Lake Como without all the unmagical moments that come with international travel.
38:18It's all there. Amazing dining options with restaurants like Wolf by Vanderpump and Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen.
38:23Incredible entertainment. Some of the biggest names in music already lined up for this year's Lake Tahoe summer concerts.

38:33Spend your days enjoying the pristine lake and natural surroundings and the nights enjoying the incredible restaurants and world-class casino.
38:40And don't forget, all of this right in your backyard.
38:43Caesars Republic Lake Tahoe book today. Yeah, in fact, I'll tell you what.
38:47I think both of those things can exist in the same plane of reality where Berrios and Likely are the focal points of the passing offense.
38:55I already liked Likely. And I think, again, it gets a little wonky when we try and bin football formations and positions even.
39:03What's a slot receiver? You can have three slot receivers.
39:06You could play a bunch. You could have a tight end in line off to the slot.
39:11You could have the tight end in line on the end with a slot receiver next to them and have them both release and cross.
39:19In which case, there's two slot receivers, right? So, I think the key point here is that's a place that Dart looks to complete his passes.
39:27And that's open now. And I think even if you're not buying the Berrios thing, which you shouldn't be, and I would
39:34never pay any pick that isn't a very last-round pick that I can easily get rid of.
39:39Again, I don't think I wanted a best ball because it could be a zero.
39:44But in redraft, right, maybe we like these early hits, maybe undersung that we know we're going to cut after a month.
39:51All right. That was – that felt kind of dirty.
39:54Let's wash it off by talking about old players.
39:57This was really tough for me, Jay, because I – to me, I say it all the time.
40:03It's a young man's game. I generally am off veterans.
40:06But, you know, everybody has a price for the $1,000 man.
40:10So, who is your old guy you believe can give us one nice send-off performance?
40:14Why went real old, John? You might have to hold your nose at this because the old is going to be wafting off of him.
40:22But Travis Kelsey, we're talking about tight ends. And I know you and I talked – I think it was even just last week.
40:30And I mentioned that I would rather take Travis Kelsey over Kyle Pitts.
40:34And I understand the skepticism of anybody looking at that and going, okay, Kelsey's going to be 37 years old during the season.
40:41Not many tight ends have even played at 37 years old.
40:45Way fewer have done anything worth a spot on your fantasy rosters at that age.
40:49So, I get it. And, in fact, there's only two guys I could find, two notable guys, who played tight end at 37.
40:57Here's what they did. So, Jason Witten came out of retirement to play at age 37.
41:02And he put up 63 catches, 529 yards, four touchdowns.
41:05It was actually a very solid year. He was tight end 11 in PPR.
41:09That, to me, is Kelsey's absolute baseline this year.
41:12His ceiling probably looks like Tony Gonzalez, who played at 37.
41:1683 catches, 859 yards, eight touchdowns. He was the tight end 2.
41:19At 37 years old, the tight end 2. And I bring it up because those numbers are pretty similar to what Kelsey did last year.
41:27And that's not accounting for the return of Eric Biennemi.
41:30And I can't stop shouting this for the rooftops enough, John.
41:34Eric Biennemi was part of the magic for those Chiefs offenses from 2018 to 2022.
41:39When everybody was so high on Patrick Mahomes and the whole shebang, because they never ranked worse than 6th in total yards or points during that stretch.
41:47They were first in the league in yards in three of those seasons with Biennemi.
41:52Then Matt Nagy comes to town. It takes a massive downturn.
41:55They only ranked in the top 15 in total yards once during his last three years.
42:00So you factor that in with Rasheed Rice making poor decisions and no other pass catchers really showing they can be a consistent source of production.
42:09And I start to look at Kelsey pretty favorably.
42:11He just has to hold up. That old body of his just has to hold up for 17 games.
42:17And I think we'll be pretty happy with the results.
42:21Sold. You know, again, perfect redraft play if you, of course, are not buying up into the elite tight ends, which the
42:28more you and I are, you know, doing our little sculpting, right?
42:31You start with the big slab with the sledgehammer and get down to those little kind of little baby pickaxe things.
42:38I'm getting away from the early tight ends because of the options here, especially in redraft out of the gate.
42:44I think the Biennemi call is fantastic. You know, this is why I love my spreadsheets because they remove the bias of me going, Oh, but he's old.
42:53It doesn't matter. He's a tight end in fantasy football.
42:56I mean, this is incredible. I got to put some more respect in this guy's name.
43:01Kelsey ran 573 routes last year. He earned 108 targets.
43:05He really had 76 balls for 851 and five.
43:07I mean, this is, this is great, man. 19 target per out, 1.5 yards per out, and he's even over five and
43:14a half yards after the catch per reception, which is the thing that I look for as the drop off after age, of course, for tight ends.
43:23I, once a tight end does the catch and fall thing, that's when I'm out.
43:28That's when I was out on Ertz. That's when I got out on kind of Goddard.
43:33I'm out. When you have to do the catch and fall, those are the three for 35 and one guys.
43:39Kelsey's not. He's a level up. He's the five for 55 and one guy.
43:43And to me, that's a winning tight end in fantasy football because you're not taking him inside the top 120 picks.
43:50So, I love it. Again, the Mahomes thing, I think especially if Mahomes is starting week one, total boost.
43:56Fields, of course, worries me as he should worry anyone, though I think when that announcement gets made, Kelsey's ADP will probably slip around the tube.
44:04All right, let me do my old man who's a spring chicken compared to yours.
44:09Mine a very spry 30-year-old Mark Andrews. And now, the argument is pretty base.
44:13But again, I think it should be. I don't think you need to overcomplicate these.
44:18Right? Kiss method. Keep it simple. Stupid. Mark Andrews, though, 30 years old.
44:22No Isaiah Likely. So, that was always a thing.
44:25Kind of eating up routes, eating up targets. Baltimore does like multiple tight end sets.
44:30But I think having a second target earning tight end is not something a lot of teams have.
44:36So, getting rid of that is going to help.
44:38Now, he did get out of the box very slow.
44:42I think Andrews was banged up the first two weeks.
44:45Without Likely week three, because Likely missed the first three weeks.
44:48He went 6-91-2. And, of course, that's good for a tight end one.
44:52You'll take that every day. And that really is the ceiling being Lamar's guy.
44:57He's the number one tight end in touchdowns over the last three years.
45:01And he's had at least 60 targets each of those years as well.
45:05I don't think there's an incredible breakout case in, like, yardage and catches.
45:09But I do think there's an argument for touchdowns.
45:12Again, with a guy who is a 5-for-51-1 guy.
45:15So, yeah. Andrews going right around. If not, is he going right next to Kelsey?
45:19They're going right next to each other. They're both at 122 and 125.
45:24I would take them both in best ball. I think they're both in redraft.
45:28I think I like Andrews maybe better for best ball because he might have a better, you know, those seven years.
45:35That's where those extra seven years of youth may come in.
45:38What do you think about Mark Andrews? I love it.
45:41I'm glad that you called attention to Mark Andrews because I've been talking him up all offseason.
45:47I think another factor into this, I love every time there's a change for an offensive coordinator that puts the arrow pointing up at least.
45:55And I do think that Declan Doyle coming over to the Ravens from Chicago.
45:59I know it was only one year with Chicago.
46:02But you saw a notable improvement with their quarterback.
46:05You saw a notable improvement with their pass catchers as the year went on because he was scheming those guys a certain way.
46:12He's very creative. So, I think Lamar could see one of his better passing seasons and Mark Andrews could absolutely be a big beneficiary.
46:19So, I love that. Yeah. It sounds like a solid call.
46:23There were times Mark Andrews was a perennial top five tight end, you know.
46:27And I think he's every case for that. Again, is he going to catch McBride or Bowers?
46:33Probably not. But I want to include Kelsey in that too.
46:36Kelsey with 17 games for me is a smash for a top 10 tight end season.
46:41Just a smash. So, in redraft, it's wheels up.
46:44All right. So, that'll do it, everybody. From Jake and John, another offseason episode of Fantasy Football Weekly in the Books.
46:51We appreciate you. Hit you up if you don't want to hear about any topics.
