1:48It's getting hot and heavy. Training camp going on with your host and faithful narrator, Mr.
1:54John Laghezza. And our friend and yours, Mr. Jake Trowbridge.
1:57Jake, I probably knocked down another 50 hand drafts or so.
2:01Shuffling around the ranks as the news were going.
2:03We were wondering if we had enough news and notes to talk about.
2:08Well, surprise, surprise. Every hour seems to bring something.
2:11And that thing, like the pebble in the pond, creates some ripple effects.
2:15Mr. Trowbridge, how are you, pal? 50? Can we go back a minute and just discuss 50 drafts?
2:21No, I'm not. That's too many drafts. Nope. Why are you doing that?
2:25I wake up 5.30 every morning to start my baseball work.
2:28And I started with drafts. I'm balancing different price points on different sites.
2:33And I don't, even though I do rankings and I battle test my auto ranks.
2:38Auto drafting is really a dangerous game in something like basketball, especially where one pick could really make a difference.
2:44So I like the hand draft. And if you're going to hand draft and try and max any of these tournaments, you're going all day and all night.
2:53I'm the first one in work and I'm the first one outdoors.
2:57So hopefully we can give, you know, impart some of that knowledge in everybody today.
3:02How are you doing, Fred? I mean, I'm good.
3:05We are just built different, John. That's just all it is.
3:08We're built different. I haven't been doing a single draft since we last spoke.
3:13I did get the opportunity to head out to Lambeau Field to check out their training camp on Friday, which was a great experience.
3:21I got to see physically see Tucker Craft coming off of the pup list as he was riding his bike from Lambeau to the field.
3:29I know we're going to talk about Tucker a little bit later.
3:33But, you know, it's it was a much different experience in Green Bay than I understand that it was in, say, Minnesota for a training camp.
3:41It was a lot nicer from what I understand.
3:44The people in the stands at least. Yeah, I think that comes with the quarterback play.
3:49Yeah, I think I think maybe things were looking a little more precise in Green Bay.
3:55I don't I don't want to say for sure.
3:57The good news, Tucker Craft healthy. The bad news, you didn't get him that love letter that I wanted to give him
4:05about how critical he's going to be to my generational wealth.
4:08All right. Enough of the fooling around, man. Enough of that.
4:12More of this. Let's do the news and notes again.
4:15We're going to run through everybody. And some of these news and notes, even though they may not seem significant, may impact one, two or three other players.
4:24So I'll post your name with the news and note and you just give me a reaction, you know, bullish, bearish.
4:31If you like it, if you hate it, maybe you saw it coming.
4:35First one. This one just happened a couple of days ago.
4:39Debo Samuel. He's going to be going to San Francisco, hopefully avoiding the substation air in the 5G overload.
4:45One year, $4 million seems pretty fair. I mean, probably a good spot, right?
4:49Reunited in it feels so good. They probably know how to use him.
4:54My note on Debo was he was a lot better than I realized he was.
4:59I guess, you know, the season's kind of come and go.
5:02And I thought of him as maybe more of just an afterthought.
5:06And he earned 99 targets last year. So what do you think about Debo in that offense?
5:12I feel like the only real possibilities for Debo to thrive in fantasy was going to be a reunion of some sort,
5:19whether that was Washington or whether that was San Francisco.
5:22I didn't really see a lot of alternate paths for him to be not even a fantasy stud, just fantasy relevant, frankly, this year.
5:30But I do think that getting him back in that system is probably a good thing for him.
5:36You know, he produced for Washington. I don't know if that was simply circumstantial because there weren't a lot of other great targets to be thrown to there.
5:45You know, Terry McLaurin was kind of dealing with things off and on throughout the year.
5:50It was kind of him and Zach Ertz to some extent for a good portion of the season.
5:56Then again, he was also not catching passes from Jaden Daniels the entire time, who was also hurt.
6:02So he did the best with what he had.
6:04That's all you can ask for. I think going back to San Francisco as the number two behind Mike Evans is a good situation.
6:12Poor one out for Ricky Pearsall. The guy is just never going to be out on the field, apparently.
6:18His time in the fantasy sun might be over before it really gets here.
6:23But I don't mind it for Debo. Yeah, there's a few moving parts on this one.
6:28So Debo, again, a little bit better than I realized.
6:31He's still kind of a target earner, you know, which is always the first thing we're looking for.
6:37Nearly 23% target per route. However, right, it's normally a pretty low ADOT.
6:42It was just over five yards. That is not great.
6:45So he does come off as a little bit gadgety.
6:48But that's a great place to be gadgety and a great place to try and earn Yak, something that Debo was still
6:55literally elite at six and a half yards after the catch per reception last year in that big, you know, Tucker Craft and Greg Dulcich tier, right?
7:04Those guys that if you get them one-on-one and shake the first tackle or you dive and miss the ankle, they could be off and running.
7:12So I still think there's some juice. Again, I think the system is the big boost here.
7:18And maybe one more pathway that we haven't mentioned.
7:21Now, I don't know if this is too much galaxy bringing, but substation jokes aside, there have been running back injuries, both James and Black injured.
7:29And Debo's been pretty effective in his career running the ball.
7:33So again, San Francisco with a spot that might be able to get him, looks behind the line of scrimmage with a
7:40little bit of room to shake the shoulders. All of a sudden, I'm a little bit interested.
7:46We know McCaffrey, not the most efficient runner anymore.
7:48Possible Debo is a guy they might turn to if you need a couple of short yards.
7:54What do you think about Debo in the run game?
7:57I don't think you're going to get a volume thing, but whenever he's been back there and healthy, sometimes it's one or
8:04two carries a game and might make a difference.
8:07My hope with them re-signing Debo and bringing him back home is that they plan to take just a tiny bit more of the workload off of CMC.
8:16That's been my biggest concern about Christian McCaffrey is how can he possibly, coming off of a 400 plus touch season, his
8:24career high, how can he do it again? We don't want him to do that again because I feel like that's just asking for trouble.
8:32So if you can have Debo back there taking some of this stuff off of his plate, not a lot.
8:38It's rarely been a high touch count for Debo coming out of the backfield.
8:43But like you said, he's been good at it.
8:46And if that saves CMC so he can play most of the season, that's really what I'm looking for out of Debo in the backfield.
8:54Very last thing, are you drafting him, right? He's at Price 135 right now.
8:58It hasn't really moved much. It felt kind of baked in.
9:02And he was telegraphing this with a workout program and stuff.
9:05I thought he was coming back. So I'm not really expecting the Price to move up too much.
9:11It may move up a little bit. He's going around Jaden Reed, Jordan Addison, Jacoby Myers, probably where he belongs.
9:18Are you drafting Debo? Yeah. Around that group of players, I like Debo as a standout because Mike Evans, at his advanced
9:25stage, not a lot to say on the field either.
9:28So we don't often talk about wide receivers as being handcuffs.
9:32But there's a world where Debo gets even more workload this year.
9:36Oh, interesting. You mentioned contingency value on wide receivers.
9:39We're going to get back to that in a little bit.
9:42I'm going to bury that lead for a little bit because there was one that I kind of foresaw coming.
9:49It looks like it might be coming to fruition.

11:51Let's move to the next one. This is the newest deal.
11:55This was, you know, breaking news. Bum, bum, bum, bum.
11:58Stephen Diggs is going to be going to Washington, right?
12:01So it's like the pieces are going where we thought, but maybe not exactly where we thought.
12:07I got a little crisscross applesauce there, as my daughter would say, but these things happen.
12:12Deal's going to be worth up to $12 million.
12:15All the details are still a little hairy, but he is going to Washington.
12:19Now, we spoke about Diggs briefly this offseason already.
12:22So just to cut to the chase, I was surprised he didn't go back to England.
12:27They brought him in after the injury. My assumption was to pick up on N plus one this year with the Drake
12:35May breakout, which happened, and they got continuity, but they didn't push forward with Diggs.
12:39So, you know, the attitude thing, maybe what was the cause there?
12:43At only 566 snaps for Diggs, he earned over 100 targets, went 85, 10, 13, and four, 24 and a half target
12:51per route, over 2.4 yards per route. He still got it.
12:54So I'm expecting him to fly up boards. I was digging around the Twitter streets briefly, and it looks like early estimates are ADP 90.
13:02Right now, it was about 130 to 135. So talk to us about Diggs.
13:07Did you like him? And do you like him where he's going?
13:11Because I think that pick 90 probably feels about right.
13:14Where are you on, Stephan Diggs? Yeah, with Stephan Diggs, the thing about the re-signing not coming to fruition until now, I
13:21thought, was more due to the off-the-field stuff. And that seems to have tempered down.
13:26And let's face it, if there is a team that is going to shove aside the off-the-field stuff and invite somebody in,
13:33it is probably going to be Washington, one of like three teams who would be completely willing to overlook that stuff.
13:40Now, on the field, Diggs last year, you mentioned it, great metrics.
13:44I would also add he had the fourth highest ESPN open score rating, which measures separation from defenders, amongst wide receivers.
13:51That was tied with Garrett Wilson. That is a good place to be, especially at the age that Stephan Diggs is at.
13:58So, yeah, I don't mind Stephan Diggs in the, what would that be, eighth round?
14:03I mean, at this point, you're just hoping at least somewhat of a fast start.
14:08Obviously it's a new quarterback. It's a new system.
14:10It's all that. But I think Stephan Diggs is, is not maybe the highest upside play, but he's a pretty reliable play based on where you're drafting him.
14:20Yeah. It's high probability throws, potentially very explosive offense.
14:22And if he's healthy, he can handle more of a snap load there.
14:27I think there's a, I don't think he's going to be a marvelous even one, but where you're getting him definite value.
14:34Last question before we move on, one of the hot pieces for the commanders was Chigakonkwo.
14:39I think inevitably he's going to be affected as of today.
14:43He was tight in 16 around ADP 143. I would expect that to fall.
14:47Maybe he falls down a tier into the one fifties, more closer to Schultz, Barner, maybe even Terrence Ferguson.
14:53He's really on it. He's on a bit of a steam ride up right now.
14:58So what do you think about Chig? Should people be, you know, happy with what they got, maybe not pushing up any further?
15:06Me, I had some Chig when I would get him around cost.
15:10I don't think I'm going to be paying the new price.
15:13I think I'm out at what I'm considering a premium.
15:16We spoke about this. Also, one of my parameters for tight ends, I want them to potentially be the second target earner.
15:24I think that's now out the window. What do you think about Chigakonkwo in regards to the new Diggs move?
15:30John, maybe I'm being stubborn. I might be. I've been known to, but I feel a little bit like Leo DiCaprio and Wolf of Wall Street right now.
15:39I'm not like him a little bit. Oh, thank you.
15:42Wow. That's just overflowing with undue compliments. I appreciate it.
15:46But I do think this is a situation where you're going to see Stefan Diggs go there.
15:51And you're going to think the worst for Mr.
15:54Mr. Oconquo. I don't think this is the worst.
15:57I think that this is a situation where Diggs can raise the boats along with the tide a little bit in Washington.
16:04Now this does to me spell just disaster for any early breakout hopes for that rookie Antonio Williams.
16:10That's somebody that I'm just plainly not interested at this point, but Chico Conquo, we still don't know how effective Terry McLaurin is going to be last year.
16:19It was a bit of an outlier for him, admittedly.
16:22A lot of it do, I think, to the holdout from training camp and some of this stuff kind of spiraled from there.
16:30But you know, we don't know how much that Terry McLaurin necessarily has left in the tank.
16:35I'm not saying that he's going to be a disaster either.
16:39I just want to keep my mind open to the possibility that Chico Conquo is still out there seeing 70, 80 plus
16:46targets and being very effective with those targets. So I'll take him in the last round, absolutely.
16:52Yeah, okay, I'm with that. I still think he's going to get a full complement of snaps.
16:57I think my hope for the ceiling case was an extra boost in target share underneath, in particular at the slot.
17:04And I think Diggs is probably going to soak up a lot of that.
17:08We've seen a lot of two tight ends, which would push Chig maybe offline, where he could be really effective and be a matchup nightmare.
17:17So he's definitely not out. I think there's still talent there.
17:20And I like the offense. We haven't seen a ton from him.
17:24And I think that's why I don't, I just don't want to pay a ton.
17:29You mentioned McLaurin. I can't help it because David Plow, the new coordinator, had mentioned getting him not only 10 targets a
17:36game, but moving him around the formation. And that's a total bull signal for me.
17:41Whatever we're hearing about getting your X or most talented receiver, you know, away from the outside all the time.
17:47We saw it be the, you know, breakout point for London on a per game basis and CeeDee Lamb on a per game basis.
17:55Even Justin Jefferson at points. I think that's, I think that's how you do it.
18:00So yeah, I guess you're right. I guess you're right.
18:03Maybe I was a little too overreactive because at the end of the day, he really is still cheap and it's a
18:11tight end with ceiling that you could easily drop and replace him.
18:14All right. Right now, the radio listeners can't see, but I'm wiping away a tear for Philadelphia rookie wideout, Makai Lemon, wide receiver 19.
18:22He's going up high, man. He now hasn't practiced this for a second straight day because of the hamstring.
18:28That's been an issue in the past and we haven't gotten details.
18:32The quotes are kind of murky. The actual injury is quote unquote unknown.
18:37We don't think it's quote unquote significant, but it is alarming if he's missing half the spring with an injury.
18:43What do you think about Lemon? Someone I was drafting, there's a contingency value.
18:48I'm pushing up wicks just in case this keeps him out and stalls that rookie learning curve.
18:53Where were you on Makai Lemon? Yeah, my heart is drowning in pure sadness right now, John.
18:59Makai Lemon, one of my favorite rookies coming in, had very high expectations for him in the sort of new look Philadelphia
19:06offense that's going to be without AJ Brown. Hamstring injuries.
19:09I've said it before. I'm not a doctor. I don't even have the lab coat, but recurring hamstring injuries are nothing to
19:16mess with in fantasy football because the possibility that he suits up week one and they say he's fine and he's out
19:23there, but then gets re-injured throughout the season. That's a real thing.
19:27We've seen guys come on and off the injury reports because of hamstring injuries.
19:32And so planning week to week can be very tricky.
19:35And then the added fact that he is a rookie and it could have already been a slow start for him because
19:42earlier in the mini camps, he was dealing with this hamstring injury.
19:46It's all just kind of boiling up to this spot that I hate to say it.
19:51I'm not very interested in Makai Lemon in redraft right now.
19:55In Dynasty, I'm still very bullish. Incredibly bullish on the guy.
19:58In redraft, it makes me so nervous. I don't know that I'm going to go crazy and start pivoting to all the other pass catchers that are there.
20:07Devontae Smith also dealing with a hamstring injury, but that's a newer thing.
20:12That's not something that's been popping up. So I feel more confident about Devontae Smith and his availability and the fact that he's a veteran.
20:20But yeah, it's a real bummer. So maybe Dallas Goddard will find his way into my redraft stocks a little bit more.
20:27Yeah, it's a big boost for him. He's always excelled whenever pieces were missing.
20:32And it's not just fantasy football, fantasy sports in general happens baseball all the time.
20:36The baseball season that was so long, a lot of times we want them to stay out.
20:42Stay out as long as you need because of the re-aggravation factor that you mentioned.
20:47That's number one. So here we are hoping that they keep out our rookie who needs critical snaps.
20:53Even right. Generally, we're thinking about rookies producing in the second half.
20:57A lot of that is based on chemistry and repetitions that they've built up along the way.
21:02If you're going to hamper that number, oh man, this stinks.
21:06I'm a little bit worried. Lemon had been one of those, you know, an oasis for me.
21:11We've talked about waiting for quarterback. Lots of times you can go hurts to Lemon at the 7-8 turn or in the 7th and the 8th.
21:20And you're feeling really good about a quarterback one and a wide receiver like four or flex guy that could step right into production.
21:27Now I'm worried. I've been drafting Dontavian Wicks. He goes so late, really an afterthought.
21:32I just had him as a contingency play because, one, I just worry about rookies catching on in the NFL at all.
21:39And then, like you mentioned, there are a few wide outs that I feel would step into a prominent role with an
21:47injury, Wicks being one of those guys. Do you think Wicks should be part of a last-round redraft plan?
21:53And there are people drafting right now. And I would say if you can make him an easy drop, you definitely want
22:00to do that because you could see where this could go very right for Wicks.
22:05I'm glad you brought up Wicks first. I didn't want to have to do it as the Packer fan.
22:11I didn't want any sort of fandom fanaticism sort of biasing me in this.
22:15But I do think Dontavian Wicks has been getting a fair amount of hype already.
22:20Coaches seem to love him. He does seem like somebody who could step into a sizable role.
22:26If he's a last-round or approximately a last-round guy, yeah, toss him onto my roster.
22:31Like you said, if he starts off the first couple of weeks and he doesn't look that great and he's just not
22:38earning targets, all right, smell you later. You know, I think this is a possible uptick for the Wicks hive.
22:44But just a tough blow for the Lemonheads out here, man.
22:48Yeah, I love all those name drops, by the way.
22:51Like, yeah, 100%, as much as we like these rookies, we have to be honest about it.
22:57Now, if he were to start getting into the 9th and the 10th, I'm going to reconsider it where it's more of even a bench pick.
23:05Sometimes, right, I don't like to overpay for rookies.
23:08I wouldn't consider that an overpay. I'll draft him and stash him and then go back for starters that I think could produce in the first month.
23:17Again, you know, like Wicks and maybe they make an interesting handcuff pay.
23:21Maybe we're in the age of handcuffing wide receivers, you know.

25:03Amazon Health AI presents Painful Thoughts. Why did I search the internet for answers to my cold sore problem?
25:09Now I'm stuck down a rabbit hole filled with images of alarmingly graphic sores in various stages of ooze.
25:15I can clear my search history. But I can never unsee that.
25:19Don't go down the rabbit hole. Amazon Health AI gets you the right care fast.
25:24Healthcare just got less painful. Now, next wide receiver you mentioned.
25:28I don't think we really need to go into it.
25:31It's Ricky Pearsall. It doesn't sound like you're going to get anything from him, though.
25:36I guess there's one easy question. Would you draft Ricky Pearsall right now at any cost?
25:41Again, my hands are firmly in the fantasy dirt.
25:44He still gets drafted in every single draft. Sometimes it's at the very end of a 20th rounder.
25:50Where if he's going to come back, even for the last month or two, he could be a contributor.
25:56I'm not that guy. I don't like to invite injuries.
25:59Would you draft Pearsall at any cost? Nah, I'm out.
26:03I don't see it. I just I just there's no reason for me to believe that he's going to be back there
26:10in any reasonable amount of time to have him clogging up my my bench spots, even an IR spot at that point.
26:17Like if he's going to be back for the fantasy playoffs.
26:20All right. Great, I guess. But we don't even know if he's going to get much run if Debo is still there.
26:28Yeah. And for as much as these coaches and coordinators lie to us basically every time they open their mouth, transactions and roster moves are true.
26:36Right. Playing time is true. That's when they actually show their cards.
26:40When they go and acquire somebody with some talent, even though I don't think their archetypes necessarily overlap.
26:46They just brought somebody in immediately, which worries me.
26:49Now, talk of Kraft cheese. Let's go, man. I was really excited to see that he came off the pup list immediately.
26:56Again, there were people who panicked. You told us to be careful with that.
27:00We went through the different types of pup list.
27:03You could check that out last week. He's practicing.
27:06They are over the moon about this guy. They said he looks fantastic.
27:10He's even dropped. Not a full round was my trigger point at ADP 80.
27:15I am seeing him closer to 90 at points.
27:18I think just the pup thing has people a little off.
27:21I would draft Kraft. I would draft Kraft and stash him if I had to.
27:26But I'm drafting him because I think he's going to be ready for week one.
27:31Talk to us about your tight end one. Just, just, just so excited for this man to be back on the field.
27:38I can barely contain myself. I've been saying for much time, maybe too much time, arguably, that there's been too much of
27:45an emphasis placed on this injury because we had some ambiguity there.
27:49And I can appreciate it. I can appreciate not wanting to jump into bed with somebody who is coming off of an injury like that.
27:58But with both him and George Kittle, these are two guys, two archetypes that if they say they're going to be out
28:05there, there's a pretty decent chance you should believe them.
28:08They've proven that. They have a history. They have a good track record fighting through these injuries.
28:13Now, I don't know that Kraft's going to come off to a hot start.
28:18That's the one thing I've been cautioning about. And you've mentioned it as well, John.
28:23If you're going to draft Tucker Kraft, which I plan to, I am going to make sure that I grab another tight
28:30end very late that I feel somewhat comfortable in for the first couple of weeks.
28:35Because I don't want to be out here and then Kraft is, you know, only running 30% of the routes or something
28:42like that his first couple of weeks. I just want to be safeguarding myself.
28:47So give me that Greg Dalsich super late or whoever, Chico Conquo now, if he's going to be falling that far.
28:53And let me rely on those guys the first couple of weeks.
28:57Yeah, I love that. I actually love that you mentioned players that in this new meta we're up against with multiple tight
29:04end sets and fewer three wide receiver sets. Those might be guys that end up being flex plays.
29:10We haven't quite entered the realm of tight end flexes, but you could see how it could get there for some of
29:17these teams only because they're only tight ends in name only, right?
29:21A lot of times, like I mentioned before, the second tight end pushes the more athletic one offline where they're actually running
29:28a wide receiver route from a slot role. And they would and should be wide receivers.
29:34So there is a possibility. And I like those names.
29:37Again, guys, that could be at least a top three target in their team can do the shoulder wiggle, make some space.
29:44All right. We're probably about halfway home on this one as far as names.
29:49But I think these next ones do more of like a lightning round.
29:53I have Xavier Worthy up next. He sprained his shoulder again.
29:56Now, he hasn't returned to practice. They're expecting him later this week.
30:00It is the same shoulder that cost him essentially the entire year from an efficiency standpoint.
30:06I was already a little bit iffy on Worthy.
30:08I think I'm out for as many drafts as I do, Jake.
30:12I mean, zero out of it. That's a word.
30:15If he's banged up, goes 100 picks later. And I'd rather take a pop.
30:20I do think someone in that pass catcher room will go off the like worthy.
30:25I know we still have some fans out there.
30:28It's just not me. I didn't think he was going cheap enough in the first place.
30:33And now certainly not now. Sophistication. Class. Restrain. Dignity.
30:36None of these words have anything to do with Super Troopers 3.

32:13Amazon Health AI presents Painful Thoughts. Why did I search the internet for answers to my cold sore problem?
32:19Now I'm stuck down a rabbit hole filled with images of alarmingly graphic sores in various stages of ooze.

32:29Don't go down the rabbit hole. Amazon Health AI gets you the right care fast.
32:34Healthcare just got less painful. Doesn't it feel like a million years since Xavier Worthy had that playoff run for the Chiefs a couple years ago?
32:42We didn't get to experience it for fantasy purposes because it was after our fantasy seasons wrapped.
32:48But in the Chiefs actual postseason, he just broke out.
32:51I mean, yeah, sure. But there was a couple of games even before that, before the big garbage time loss.
32:58He was emerging. It felt like he was ramping up.
33:01And then the injury, whatever else came into play.
33:04Patrick Mahomes, the offense in general, just hasn't looked good this past year.
33:08I was starting to get my hopes up though, John, because you know I love the return of Eric Biennemi as their offensive coordinator.
33:16But no, I just can't trustworthy at this point.
33:19This is getting me to pivot a little bit more.
33:22Or if I don't, for example, want to believe in Tucker Craft, maybe you should then wait a couple of rounds and
33:29see what old man Travis Kelsey has left in the tank.
33:33Yeah, Cyrus Allen, I could also see a case for him.
33:36He's been getting all the social media training camp highlight love.
33:40So why not? I'd rather do that than Worthy for sure.
33:43Now, what about Thornton? He's, Taequann Thornton's also getting a little bit of love at the very back end.
33:50And not to even drag people into my best ball street.
33:53If you are getting volume on the Chiefs and the deep looks, that could be a valuable piece, right?
33:59It could be a flex starter. Do you think Thornton has any value?
34:04I'm really having a tough time with these Chiefs.
34:07I've been worrying about the pass volume in general.
34:09The entire market is higher on Mahomes than I am.
34:13Man, outside of Kenneth Walker, if the Chiefs are a really prolific pass offense, I'm going to be in a little bit
34:20of trouble because I've not been on that. Do you like anything there?
34:24I mean, again, these guys are last round picks.
34:27Would you take a stab on any either or both?
34:30It's just really hard. I mean, Taequann Thornton was getting some hype last offseason as well, if I recall, when he made the jump to Kansas City.
34:39And again, all the other stuff still holds true that the offense itself was just looking lackluster.
34:45So I don't want to blame it all on Taequann Thornton.
34:48But we're talking about a guy who, through four years, still hasn't cracked the century mark in receiving yards.
34:54It's a tough guy to want to buy into.
34:57I don't know if I buy into that late of a breakout.
35:01I'd rather go with Cyrus Allen. Yeah. Also, the, hey, a quick way to lose your money is to bet against Patrick Holmes.
35:09But I've been going back and watching all these deep throws.
35:12It's just not the same player. Maybe it was just all Tariq Hill.
35:16But he just, it was always the most accurate deep ball and he could always beat you deep.
35:22That just hasn't felt the way to me. I don't know.
35:26Again, there is certainly a pathway to the unemployment line betting against the Chiefs.
35:30But I think I'm going to take it. Again, Worthy would have to really fall for me to get on it.
35:37But I'm not drafting him at all until he at least returns to practice.
35:42All right. Enough bad news. Not bad news. How about a little bit of good news?
35:47And this has been tough, Jake. I don't think I put a single piece of injury optimism out there all offseason.
35:54Not how I roll. However, Daniel Jones and these Achilles, man.
35:57The thing with these Achilles surgeries is they've physically come up with a new technique.
36:02Right? So I'm trying to correct my own arc.
36:05Right? My own recovery arc. Because of the new surgery.
36:08It's a whole new type where players are on a different timeline.
36:12Daniel Jones, the quote was clearly in a good place.
36:16He's quote unquote unimpeded. That was from ESPN's Ben Solak said it's going to be 100% wheels up, full playbook for Daniel Jones.
36:23They're not going to be babying him. They're not going to be doing anything of the sort.
36:29He feels like himself. The reason I say this is I was worried about that because that's what I do as a pessimist.
36:36We saw how great that Colts offense was with him on the center.
36:40I don't think I could afford to be fading the entire Colts offense.
36:44I'm starting to draft Jonathan Taylor a little bit in the first.
36:48I'm starting to draft downs even. I was already drafting Warren when he falls.
36:53So should I be coming off like the ledge here a little bit?
36:57I was fully ready to go into the season with zero Colts.
37:01And now like, man, I'm starting to scoop them up where I can because I think they're still cheap.
37:07If Daniel Jones is 100% and they're really rocking and rolling in camp, people could start getting really bullish.
37:13We could see the Colts get more expensive. Where are you on Indy going into it?
37:19This is going to be polarizing in the next couple of weeks, I think.
37:23It is. And first of all, can I just say how heartwarming it is to have somebody earnestly be like, yeah, I was worried about the Colts.
37:32But now that Daniel Jones is going to be healthy and presumably starting, that's not where we were a year ago, two years ago, three years ago.
37:41Well, it's just nice to see a guy come back.
37:44I'm going to credit Steichen for as much of this as Daniel Jones.
37:48But the splits were just very hard, incontrovertible, man.
37:51We're talking about historically good. I'm not expecting them to even be that good.
37:56But they were so historically good. How dare we feed a Jonathan Taylor?
38:00He's going in the end of the first round.
38:03People are not into him at all. So talk to us about the Colts and specifically, were you drafting JT and how are you treating them going forward?
38:12Well, I mean, Jonathan Taylor, the only knock that I had against him at all was just another workload thing.
38:18This is a guy that also saw more than 350 touches last year.
38:23It's just it's not like he's old by any stretch.
38:26But we have a pretty good track record of seeing a downtick from those guys the following season.
38:32I don't know that that's going to be the case with JT.
38:36But that's my argument for not drafting him at least early in the first round.
38:40I'm still fine. I'm still fine to take him.
38:43I think he's a good investment. I would say Tyler Warren is the guy that I was looking for to make sure
38:50that he had competent QB play before I got too excited because his ADP is is significant.
38:56And that's not something that I want to mess around with with early tight end.
39:01You kind of look for any red flag for a tight end when you're drafting them that early.
39:07And if he was going to be catching from the backups or God forbid they bring in another septuagenarian quarterback off the
39:14streets to start throwing to him, then that would have been a real concern for Tyler Warren.
39:19But I'm good with him. I'm good with Josh Downs.
39:23The guy that I'm still ambivalent about is Alec Pierce.
39:26He has his own injury stuff that he's dealing with.
39:29And I also just never thought that he was going to be the de facto number one receiver there.
39:35So the rest of the guys I'm good with, though.
39:39I'll bite and take the piece of humble pie on Pierce.
39:42A lot of that was before the injury. I pumped the brakes.
39:46The price didn't really sink in proportion to my worry.
39:49So I've stopped drafting Alec Pierce. I'm getting a little bit high on the Josh Downs stuff now.
39:55I've got to be careful in this hopium. I'm normally a very kind of ardent drafter, right?
40:01I have my priors. I'm sticking to them. But as I well researched, Josh Downs is getting talked up as a player
40:08that could be a focal point in two wide receiver sets.
40:11If they don't sign Akeen and Allen, there's been talks about that.
40:15So that's what I'm waiting for. I've got Downs right in my crosshairs.
40:19Jake, he's a guy. If Allen goes somewhere else, I am going to get real bullish on Downs.
40:25Do you think that he could be part of the two wide receiver game?
40:30It has not been a part of his game at all.
40:33But they haven't brought in anybody. Move away from Pittman.
40:37The opportunity, at least theoretically, is there. What do you think?
40:40Yeah, I mean, that's not for me to decide, obviously.
40:44That's for the coaching staff to decide how they really want to force the issue with him.
40:49Because certain coordinators will completely readjust everything if they love what they've seen from one of their players.
40:55But he doesn't fit the traditional mold of like a two wide receiver set guy.
41:00They will find ways to get him out there if they really want to.
41:04It's getting long now in the tooth, late in the offseason, for us to suggest that they're going to bring in Keenan Allen.
41:12And that's going to zap everything away from Josh Downs.
41:15It's almost to the point where I'm not hoping for it because Keenan Allen would be a little bit of a headache.
41:22But I think that the ADP discount you would get on Downs after like a Keenan Allen signing would be interesting to me.
41:30And I think I might chase him down draft boards if that's the case.
41:34Yeah, you know, you're always going to have my ear if making price, you know, determine the arguments, man.
41:40All right, two more names to get through really quick.
41:44But it's a little bit more good news. Jacksonville running back Chris Rodriguez is practicing with the team.
41:49And they are really, they are really talking about.
41:52I don't like to buy too much into drumbeat stuff, though I do think it's something.
41:58Everything is in agreement based on Chris Rodriguez looks fantastic.
42:01In the role that we're hoping for, trucking over guys.
42:04And I was kind of high on Basial Tootin.
42:07I think Rodriguez could also be good. You have to believe in the Jacksonville offense being really great.
42:13I don't want to have the switches. Why not?
42:16So I think it's fine. If Rodriguez moves closer to pick 100 than he is now, maybe pick maybe 120 or 130, I think I might be out.
42:25But as long as he's hanging around in the 10th round or later, I think he could be a flex option.
42:32What do you think about Chris Rodriguez? Most likely, I know it's not written stone, but I do think he's in line
42:39for a lot of the high value goal line work for a team we think is going to score a lot of points.
42:46Where are you on C-Rod? I am worried that he's going to be annoying.
42:51More so than individually fantasy relevant or fantasy great.
42:54I'm most worried that he's going to be annoying and really cut into the upside of Basial Tootin.
43:00I'm backing away slowly with my hands up from Basial Tootin right now because there's a thing that happens with these coaches
43:07where Liam Cohn has known Chris Rodriguez for a very long time.
43:11They go way, way back. And sometimes with coaches, they force the issue with those guys because of their history together.
43:17Even if I think Chris Rodriguez is a good player.
43:21Don't get me wrong. I think he's a good quality running back.
43:25I don't like him. I don't think anybody likes him as much as Liam Cohn likes him.
43:30So, you know, even if he's inefficient or whatever, you know, he's not a great pass catcher.
43:36Cohn's probably going to want him on the field a good amount.
43:40So I'm kind of staying away from this backfield entirely now.
43:43Yeah, that's been a little bit of a running theme I'm noticing again on those Twitter streets.
43:49And I think it's true is one of the maybe let's go to disconnect, right?
43:54Disconnects between fantasy and real life is real life coaches like success rate way more than we do.
43:59And they like EPA per rush way more than we do.
44:03Those numbers do not really correlate to fantasy success, but they do correlate to drive success and efficiency, which helps the real life team.
44:11So, man, the Jaguars have to be really good to make C-Rod the David Montgomery to Basil Tootin's Jameer Gibbs.
44:17So I've been seeing Tootin approach the fourth round where I've had to say, Masarico, a little bit too rich for me, man.
44:25You know, I can't really get there. If he falls into the fifth and I need an RB2, I think Tootin could definitely be that guy.
44:33But, yeah, now I'm starting to get a little bit into C-Rod.
44:37But really, Jake, it's got to be half-point PPR.
44:40I think that's where he really stands out when the touchdowns are worth that much more.
44:45All right, last player of note, my J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets, rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq had a setback in his recovery for hernia surgery.
44:53Excuse me. And, you know, I was not drafting him when he got hurt and I was taking some slings and arrows.
45:00What's the big deal, John? It's just hernia. He's going to be fine.
45:05I said, you could have setbacks during anything. And it is in a place where you're working.
45:10It's in the core. So, I don't know. I'm not buying in now.
45:14He's going to start sinking like a stone. My question is, again, there's the rookie worry.
45:20There's also been some historical data, Jake, on tight ends.
45:23We know first-round tight ends have a history of not producing.
45:26They have as of late. But none of them have missed time, right?
45:31Something we've already mentioned earlier today. I wonder if Mason Taylor is a viable 20th-round pick.
45:36If you like the Jets, right now I'm kind of washing my hands of all of it.
45:41I guess Taylor's an okay tight end four. But I don't know.
45:45I think I'm out in the situation. Would you be buying Sadiq down boards?
45:50I like that term you used before. First of all, John, I don't have a core, I don't think.
45:56So, I don't understand how a hernia injury would even affect a core.
46:00Oh, good. Can I borrow one sometime? I think I would enjoy having one of those.
46:05I do think with Kenyon Sadiq, though, the unpolished nature of Kenyon Sadiq, he's an amazing athlete.
46:11Freakish athlete is the type of phrasing that people like to use for tight ends of this build.
46:17They're not traditional. You wouldn't expect him to be the next George Kittle, Travis Kelsey, whatever.
46:22But he has a skill set that's very interesting.
46:25And if you polish it and refine it, he can be very useful for a team.
46:30I've long said I don't know that the Jets are that team to be able to polish and refine him the way that he needs to be.
46:39And certainly not in his first year. All this does is kick that can further down the road to the point where
46:46I don't know if I'm going to be comfortable drafting him next year, John.
46:51Obviously, there's a long ways away. We can discuss it at a later time.
46:55But it's terrifying. Yeah, we probably want to see something from him this year.
47:00Yeah, it's kind of scary. Again, I'm always banging the same drum about repetitions and chemistry, especially for first-year players.
47:06I think it's extremely important in this league. So I'm just not going to bother with Sadiq, just in case.
47:13I don't think this is going to be a season-ender as far as the injury goes.
47:18But I'm afraid the impact might last the entire season.
47:21All right, Jake, that'll do it. We spent the entire episode on News & Notes.
47:26But hopefully it mattered, right? How those, like I said, the pebble in the pond creates the ripple effect downstream, players that we like, players that we don't.
47:35We'll be back next week, everybody, with more of the same as the league starts to change.
47:41We promise we'll get you some of those bold predictions that you and I wrote down, Jake.
47:46So from John Laghezza and Jake Trowbridge, everybody, thanks for listening and have a great weekend.
