Alec Pierce

NegativeInjury5:00

Pierce had offseason surgery with no definitive timetable for return; given a four to six month recovery window after March surgery, meaning he could miss the start of camp and potentially multiple weeks into the season with ramp-up time and possible setbacks.

Insight page
NegativeInjury5:00

Pierce had offseason surgery with no definitive timetable for return; given a four to six month recovery window after March surgery, could miss start of camp and require ramp-up time with possibility of setback.

Insight page
PositiveValue5:45

Despite injury discount coming, Pierce's ADP will decline but not enough to reach proper value; he was overinflated based on contract and should have come down anyway.

Insight page
PositiveValue6:00

Despite the incoming discount due to injury, the analyst believes Pierce's value was already overinflated based on his contract and should have come down anyway; the discount won't get him to his proper value.

Insight page

Bijan Robinson

NegativeValue10:00

Bijan Robinson's ADP has risen to 43 (up from initial 33) due to Rodriguez injury overreaction; the initial price was already discounting Rodriguez, and further rise is not justified.

Insight page
NegativeValue10:30

Bijan Robinson's ADP has risen significantly (to around 43 overall) due to overreaction to Rodriguez's injury, but the analyst believes the initial price was already discounting Rodriguez and Robinson is now overpriced.

Insight page
PositiveValue11:00

If Robinson was seen in the fourth or early fifth round, the analyst would consider him as a guy who could explode in a really good offense.

Insight page

Bo Nix

NegativeInjury0:21

Bo Nix fractured his right ankle in the AFC divisional round and had surgery with a follow-up procedure in April, raising concerns about his mobility which is critical to his fantasy relevance.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:22

Bo Nix is one of only 13 quarterbacks in NFL history to throw 600+ times in a season without reaching 4,000 passing yards, putting him in rare air for a guy who may lose his mobility this year.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:23

The analyst is out on Bo Nix entirely unless there is significant positive PR coverage in the coming months, citing concerns about his ankle injury and mobility limitations.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

PositiveValue0:42

Analyst worries the market may be overcorrecting on Irving's ADP decline; if he performs like he did a year and a half ago, drafters could feel foolish, making him a potential value play based on upside.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:42

Analyst worries the market may be overcorrecting on Irving's ADP decline; notes he's a good pass catcher and could look like he did a year and a half ago, making him preferable to Quentin Junkins at the same ADP.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:42

Bucky Irving's ADP has declined significantly, and there is debate about whether the market is overcorrecting on him, though he is a good pass catcher with Kenny Gainwell also in the backfield.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:43

Analyst agrees that if Irving wins the job, even without 100% of carries, he could still be great with his declining ADP price.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:43

Based on upside, analyst would rather have Bucky Irving than Quentin Junkins at the same ADP, and may draft him if he slips further.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:43

Analyst agrees Irving could still be great with declining ADP price, noting he won't get 100% of carries but has significant upside potential.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:43

Based on upside, analyst would much rather have Bucky Irving than Quentin Junkins, and if Irving continues slipping in ADP he might be forced to draft him.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

NegativeInjury8:00

Chris Rodriguez had a procedure on his left foot early in offseason program; expected to be ready for start of training camp in late July, but ambiguous injury details create concern.

Insight page
NegativeInjury8:15

Chris Rodriguez had a procedure on his left foot early in the offseason program and is expected to be ready for training camp in late July, but the analyst is staying away due to ambiguous injury concerns and low ceiling.

Insight page
NegativeValue9:00

Rodriguez is a stay-away due to ambiguous undisclosed injury type and low ceiling; not worth the headaches given fairly low ceiling play with no massive upside.

Insight page
NegativeValue10:00

The analyst is avoiding Rodriguez because he has a fairly low ceiling and is not worth the headaches of dealing with an ambiguous injury situation.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

PositiveDepth Chart0:44

Chuba Hubbard remains on the Panthers roster but the team's confidence in Jonathan Brooks suggests he may not be the primary back going forward.

Insight page

Daniel Jones

NegativeInjury0:25

Daniel Jones suffered a torn right Achilles in early December and is doing seven-on-seven drills, but the analyst is not confident in trusting anything seen from him at this point.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:25

The Colts' team success was directly correlated to Daniel Jones' play last year, with the team breaking EPA records, but his absence led to Jonathan Taylor's decline and playoff losses.

Insight page

Dylan Sampson

PositiveRole0:38

Dylan Sampson is still present in the Browns backfield and threatens Quinshawn Junkins' pass-catching role, limiting Junkins' upside.

Insight page

Emanuel Wilson

PositiveSleeper0:50

Analyst suggests Emmanuel Wilson as a contrarian shot later in drafts as an alternative to Charbonnet in the Seahawks backfield.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:50

Analyst mentions Emmanuel Wilson as a contrarian shot later in drafts as an alternative to Charbonnet in the Seahawks backfield.

Insight page

Isaiah Likely

PositiveValue0:35

Isaiah Likely is the only Giant the analyst is truly comfortable drafting due to lower injury risk compared to other key Giants players.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

PositiveRole0:41

Analyst is "over the moon" for Price and considers his role as a given, indicating strong confidence in his fantasy outlook.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:49

The Seahawks spent a first-round pick on Price, signaling he will be the primary back; Charbonnet won't receive significant workload unless Price unexpectedly busts.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

PositiveRole0:44

The Panthers are gushing over Brooks and have telegraphed confidence by moving on from Rico Dowdle, suggesting Brooks could be a 1A back in the offense.

Insight page
PositiveInjury0:44

Brooks re-tore his right ACL in December 2024 but has had ample recovery time since then; the Panthers have shown confidence by moving on from Rico Dowdle and signaling Brooks could be a 1A back.

Insight page
PositiveInjury0:44

Brooks re-tore his right ACL in December 2024 but has had ample recovery time; he's only 22 years old, which may help his recovery timeline compared to older players.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:45

Brooks is at pick 108 and is a polarizing player; analysts are either all in or all out on him, with significant upside potential at his draft position.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:45

The Panthers are signaling confidence in Brooks by letting Rico Dowdle walk and keeping him over Chuba Hubbard, suggesting he could be a 1A back in the offense.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:46

At pick 108, Brooks has the type of upside around his draft range that few other players possess; analyst considers him a potential big breakout play despite the ACL risk.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:46

The Panthers showed confidence in Brooks by letting Rico Dowdle walk in free agency, a move they could have avoided by keeping both Dowdle and Chuba Hubbard.

Insight page
NegativeInjury0:46

Brooks is a running back coming off consecutive torn ACLs, which carries obvious risk; recovery from ACL injuries can be lengthy, as evidenced by Javante Williams' extended timeline.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:46

Brooks' youth at 22 years old may allow for a faster recovery timeline than older players, giving him a potential advantage in returning to form.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:47

Analyst views Brooks as a potential breakout play in the triple-digit picks range, though uncertain if it will materialize or if he'll even make it to week one.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:47

Analyst notes that at triple-digit picks, Brooks is the type of player who could hit as a big breakout, making him a worthwhile play depending on draft build.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:47

At pick 108, Brooks has the type of upside around his draft range that few other players possess; he checks the boxes to be a big breakout candidate.

Insight page

Josh Downs

PositiveProjection0:27

Josh Downs is expected to be a wide receiver two when Daniel Jones returns, as he gets open near the line of scrimmage for high-probability targets and is not QB-dependent.

Insight page
PositiveValue6:15

Josh Downs' ADP should rise significantly with Pierce's injury, and the analyst thinks he was undervalued at his previous price point and is interested in him at current levels.

Insight page
PositiveValue6:25

Josh Downs' ADP goes up significantly with Pierce's injury; he was undervalued before and now presents even better value, though uncertainty remains about two-wide receiver set usage.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveDepth Chart0:49

The Seahawks let Kenneth Walker go in free agency and drafted Jadarian Price in the first round, signaling a shift away from Walker in the backfield.

Insight page

LeQuint Allen

PositiveValue11:00

LeQuint Allen at ADP 216 is a late-game target worth considering; he's already shown ability to earn work in the Jaguars offense and provides projectable volume unlike many sixth/seventh round RBs who are hard zeros.

Insight page
PositiveValue12:00

LeQuint Allen is a late-round option who has already shown he can earn work in the Jaguars offense and provides projectable volume, making him more valuable than typical sixth and seventh round running backs who often don't see the field.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

NegativeRole0:35

Malik Nabors has injury concerns that make the Giants a risky team to overload on in drafts.

Insight page

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine

PositiveRole6:25

Westbrook-Ikhine plays similar downfield explosive role to Pierce but is a lower-grade version; could see opportunity with Pierce's injury but limited upside compared to other options.

Insight page
PositiveRole6:45

Westbrook-Ikhine plays a similar downfield, explosive play archetype to Pierce but is a very low-grade version; he could see some opportunity with Pierce's injury but is not a primary target.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection0:21

Mahomes had five straight top-five QB weeks from weeks 4-9 last year and consistently performs well, making him a strong redraft option despite some concerns about the offense funneling more through Ken Walker.

Insight page
NegativeInjury17:30

Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and LCL in week 15 and is working out seven hours a day ahead of schedule, but the analyst is concerned about his running ability being limited and is worried about the team's decision to bring in Ken Walker.

Insight page
NegativeValue17:30

Despite ADP 90 being cheapest ever, Mahomes is a pass; concern about limited running ability post-injury and Ken Walker addition suggest team doesn't want him running, plus many QBs available at same time.

Insight page
NegativeInjury17:30

Mahomes suffered a knee injury (ACL/MCL) in week 15; reports show he's working out seven hours daily and ahead of schedule, but running ability remains a concern with limited rushing efficiency.

Insight page
NegativeValue18:00

Despite being at ADP 90 (the cheapest he's ever been), the analyst is off Mahomes due to injury concerns limiting his running ability and prefers Jackson Dart, who is healthy and can run.

Insight page
PositiveValue18:30

Patrick Mahomes is at the cheapest ADP he's ever been (90), and the analyst believes this is a buying opportunity given his talent and the return of Eric Biennemi as offensive coordinator, who previously helped him be a top-five fantasy QB.

Insight page
PositiveValue19:00

Mahomes at ADP 90 is the cheapest he's ever been and represents value; he's practicing with knee brace and has history of success with brace from college, plus Eric Biennemi's return as OC could help him return to top-five QB status.

Insight page
PositiveProjection21:30

Looking at last year, Mahomes had five straight top-five QB weeks from week 4 through 9, showing he still has elite upside and no one understands the game better.

Insight page

Rico Dowdle

PositiveDepth Chart0:44

Rico Dowdle was released by the Panthers after a strong three-week stretch last year, clearing the way for Jonathan Brooks to potentially be the lead back.

Insight page
PositiveDepth Chart0:46

Rico Dowdle was let go by the Panthers despite outpacing Chuba Hubbard last year, signaling the team's confidence in Jonathan Brooks as the lead back.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

PositiveProjection0:27

Tyler Warren is expected to be a high-end tight end one regardless of Daniel Jones' status, as he gets open near the line of scrimmage for high-probability targets and is not QB-dependent.

Insight page
PositiveRole6:25

Tyler Warren benefits most from Michael Pittman's departure; he was being overlooked despite tight end four ADP, and the opening may make his current draft position not even high enough.

Insight page
PositiveRole6:30

Tyler Warren is being overlooked and may benefit more than anyone else from Michael Pittman's departure; the analyst thinks tight end four was too high before but may not even be high enough now.

Insight page

Tyrone Tracy

PositiveValue0:33

Tyrone Tracy is being drafted very late and is a good value option, as he got the full workload when Cam Skadarbo was injured and the two are fairly priced as a tandem.

Insight page

Zach Charbonnet

NegativeInjury0:48

Charbonnet tore his ACL in January during the wild card game with a late February surgery, giving him only a 9-month recovery timeline that feels rushed and risks re-aggravation.

Insight page
NegativeInjury0:48

Charbonnet tore his ACL in January during the wild card game, and the recovery timeline feels rushed; analyst expects a 9-month minimum recovery putting him at October/November availability, not week one.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:49

Analyst is out on Charbonnet at pick 165 due to the rushed timeline and risk of re-aggravation; prefers Helani 1v1 instead.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:49

Analyst is out on Charbonnet even at pick 165 because the recovery timeline is too rushed and there's too much risk of re-aggravation; prefers Helani 1v1.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:49

Charbonnet's healthy self never finished higher than RB29 in PPR points per game, and with the Seahawks spending a first-round pick on Jadarian Price, he won't get the workload needed to be a viable fantasy asset.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:49

Charbonnet's healthy self never finished higher than RB29 in PPR points per game, and the Seahawks spent a first-round pick on Jadarian Price, so he won't get the workload needed to be a worthwhile fantasy investment.

3:14Hi-de-ho and welcome back to another off-season edition of Fantasy Football Weekly with your host, Nurse John Laghezza, and Medical Specialist, MD, Fantasy Doctor, Jake Trowbridge.
3:23Jake, obviously I didn't bury the lead in. Put that in front of my name, John.
3:28What we're talking about today. We'll be talking some injuries.
3:31Jake, how are you? Hopefully you're well. I mean, I'm great.
3:35I don't know when I got this medical degree that we're touting.
3:39It must have been while I was sleeping, perhaps.
3:42But I'm happy to try to fake my way through it for this.
3:46John, I feel like more I'm a little bit more like weather specialist, man.
3:51We've been getting pummeled by storms here in Wisconsin for like two months straight.
3:55I'm tired of it. I don't know if I'm more tired of that, though, or tired of the storm of bad injury
4:03news that we've been getting on NFL players. You know what I mean?
4:07Love the segue, though. It's funny. I thought I was going to be able to get away from weather talk.
4:13You know, I do baseball work and this weather really affects games being played and how the ball moves and everything.
4:20And I'm like crash coursing meteorology. Anyway, our medical degrees come from the Medical School of Upstairs Hollywood, right?
4:27The Upstairs Hollywood degree from Dr. Nick Rivera. Hi, everybody.
4:30All right. So that's been most of the news.
4:33Of course, football season means like hidden injuries, Jake.
4:36And they're coming in fast and furious. I've always joked.
4:39The best way to find the injuries that we don't know about, that we will know about, are on my roster ship page.
4:47And of course, that's been the case. Of course, I'm drafting guys we didn't know were hurt.
4:52First up would be Mr. Alec Pierce, wide receiver for the Colts.
4:56We talked about him and right. They move away from Pittman.
5:00They gave Alec Pierce the bag. And I assumed even with questionable quarterback return from Daniel Jones, Pierce would be the focal point of the passing offense.
5:09Well, Coach Shane Steichen, when asked about Pierce's offseason surgery, he opened up the possibility for him not to be ready for the start of camp.
5:17Said it could be a quote unquote a couple weeks in.
5:21Pierce, this is just today, said there was no definitive timetable and when he'll be back.
5:26He was given a four to six month recovery time after the March surgery.
5:31March is the third month. Six months is nine.
5:34Uh-oh. Like I said, we could be talking about a couple weeks.
5:38Plus ramp up time. Possibility of a setback. I don't like to invite injuries.
5:42The Alex Pierce shares that I have are probably it.
5:45Let's look at the other wide receivers really quick.
5:48Josh Downs, ADP 95. Nick Westbrook-Akine, ADP 216. Are there any values?
5:52Are you off the Colts? Do you like the incoming Pierce discount?
5:56Right? I think that's also on the way. What do you think, Jake?
6:00Yeah, I guess there will be a discount with Pierce.
6:04Although I just can't imagine even taking advantage of that.
6:07Because the discount is not going to get him to where I think his proper value is.
6:13I think he was so overinflated based on the contract.
6:16And I just thought he should have come down anyways.
6:19This is going to get him further down, but not far enough for me.
6:24I do think the price tag for Josh Downs obviously goes up a ton.
6:28So it's going to be interesting to see how far.
6:32I'm in it right now based on where he is.
6:35Because I think he was undervalued. But I'm actually more curious to see what happens with Tyler Warren out of anybody on this team.
6:43Westbrook-Akine is interesting because he does play a similar downfield, explosive play type of guy.
6:48Although a very low-grade version of it compared to Alec Pierce.
6:51But I thought Michael Pittman's departure would actually help Warren more than anybody else on this team.
6:57And I think he's maybe being a bit overlooked in all of this.
7:01Even though he's being drafted very high, I could see an argument for him like tight end four kind of seemed too high at one point.
7:10Now I feel like maybe it's not even high enough, John.
7:13Yeah, Warren I thought would thrive. Anyway, any opening is going to be a bump for him.
7:19I think you really mentioned the key piece for me is Josh Downs.
7:23Gosh, I wish I knew if he was going to play in two wide receiver sets.
7:28And the thing that kills me with some of these guys, maybe like a Jaden Reed also, man, why can't we get
7:36these guys into two wide out sets? Especially when there's an opening, right?
7:40That, I don't want that to be a concern.
7:43I'm telling myself the story that Downs is going to be an every down player.
7:48Oh, see what I did there. At least to start the season.
7:52I'm kind of staying away from Akine. Although I think in redraft, especially in kind of deeper formats, there's probably been an opening for him.
8:00You mentioned the archetypical fit there. Kind of downfield.
8:03And that's going to be open for Pierce. Even if Josh Downs is playing every down, Jake, I doubt he's running go routes, right?
8:11That's not really his thing. I don't think we want him doing that.
8:15So yeah, I kind of stepped on the rake with Pierce.
8:19And it wasn't really overpaying. But if I was heavy running back up front, I did think he fit a role.
8:26Now I'm going to get off that. The next bit of news was another guy who's drafting, and I have the receipts
8:33because we spoke about it, was Chris Rodriguez over in Jacksonville.
8:36Remember, he spent five seasons at Kentucky, and his best season was with Liam Cohn, who was the offensive coordinator at the time, right?
8:44So there was, I don't know if it's a shower narrative, but something like that.
8:49Now according to team sources, the Jaguars, Chris Rodriguez had a procedure on his left foot, ready in an injury early in the offseason program.
8:57He's expected to be ready for the start of training camp in late July.
9:02I mean, so the obvious question is, where do you stand, LeRodriguez?
9:06And are you pushing up Basial Tootin, who I thought was already kind of expensive at 33?
9:12Maybe now, right, if you weren't worried about Rodriguez, that's where he should be.
9:16If he's moving up anymore, Jake, I'm not going any further.
9:20That 33 feels rich, maybe even fair, but especially if Rodriguez returns, and I still think he could get the end zone work.
9:27That's a little bit too expensive for me. LaQuint Allen at ADP 216.
9:32What do you make of the Jaguars' backfield situation?
9:35I'm glad you brought up Basial Tootin, because it's somebody that I have been high on this offseason, even with the addition of Chris Rodriguez.
9:43But it does feel like, boy, he really took a balloon ride up in ADP.
9:48And yeah, you make a good point. If he starts getting into the, I don't know, beginning of the fifth round, am
9:55I comfortable doing that for Basial Tootin, a guy that I liked coming out of college but didn't exactly thrive last year?
10:02I'd be scared of that. So yeah, I don't think I'm going to follow him up in ADP much.
10:08With Chris Rodriguez, though, I always hate these ambiguous, undisclosed injury types of things.
10:13I just have flashbacks to Joe Mixon and his mysterious foot injury from last year.
10:18And it was supposedly no big deal until it was, and then it kept him out all season.
10:24And it might have ended his career. I'm not saying that's the exact case with Rodriguez, mind you.
10:30But I am staying away because I don't think he's worth the headaches.
10:34Like, I think he's a fairly low ceiling play.
10:37So I'm not going to go through all that unless the guy just has massive upside.
10:42And I don't really see that with Rodriguez. Yeah, I would agree.
10:46Let me do a quick correction. I was quoting a min pick.
10:50The ADP is not far off. Is it in 43?
10:53It wasn't 33. It's 43. But I've seen him go there now because people are immediately overreacting to something.
11:00I think that initial price was already discluding Rodriguez from the party here.
11:04And yeah, I mean, you make a great point being weary of injuries.
11:08I very much am. I'm trying not to invite them.
11:11I'm certainly not paying premiums for them. It just was funny.
11:15As I was getting into tooting, if I saw him in the fourth or even sometimes early five, if I was early
11:22wide receivers, I'm thinking, okay, this is a guy who could explode.
11:26A really good offense. But now, yeah, I don't know.
11:29We know he's going to move up. I have to decide if I want any piece of Rodriguez.
11:35Is there anywhere that he could go? Jake, again, this is an offense we're expecting a lot from.
11:41But there is LeQuint Allen. I know I mentioned him twice.
11:45I don't know who else is talking about him in June.
11:49But he can be annoying. Sometimes it's that third thorn in the side, right?
11:53Or I guess the second thorn. But either way, that extra, that third mouth to feed can kind of kill everybody.
12:00Those are the running back committees that I'm looking to get off of.
12:04I think my roster ship for the Jaguars is going to decline.
12:08You're pretty much signing off on that? Yeah, John, it's like the band Poison said a long time ago.
12:14Every rose has three thorns. We know this. They knew it to be true.
12:19We know it to be true. I do think in the case of backfields like this where there was still a lot of ambiguity.
12:27That's actually crazy. I didn't realize. I misheard about Basial Tootin.
12:31I can't believe he's even going up higher than I thought.
12:34So I'm all the way out on Tootin now, which is too bad.
12:38LeQuint Allen, yeah, why not? Right, because there's so few running backs that have a legitimate shot at this much of the pie going that late, I think.
12:48There's a couple of guys you could maybe make an argument for around his area, but I'll take some shots.
12:54Why not? Let me load up on wide receivers towards the middle rounds, and I'll scrape together some more running backs in the late part.

15:40Void in Florida. Yeah, a guy like George Helani kind of comes to mind also.
15:45That Lequinta Allen. Again, we're talking very much endgame.
15:48But if you're doing the best ball thing or the roto thing right now, those guys are bodies and they're already kind of projectable.
15:56Right? It's not a lot of projectable volume, but it's some projectable volume.
16:00And I think everyone is so eager to draft these sixth and seventh round running backs that very often are zeros.
16:07And like a hard zero. Like they didn't see the field.
16:11They don't actually make the team sometimes where a guy like Lequinta Allen is already shown that he can earn work in that offense.
16:19And I think, you know, let's say the Rodriguez thing really goes poorly.
16:23You mentioned Mixon. So it's not out of the realm.
16:26Where was an ankle injury? Don't worry. He's fine.
16:29I'll be back week one. Don't worry. Be back OTAs.
16:32Oh, week three, week five, week seven. He may never play again.
16:36And we're like, what's going on here? It's crazy how right.
16:40Oh, that escalated quickly. But these things happen. That's why I try not to invite any injuries if they're going on right now.
16:48If Rodriguez does continue to drop and he comes back and plays, then, yeah, I might scoop him at the end game.
16:55All right, Jake, let's do a little lightning round doctor play.
16:58I was going to play doctor or whatever. I already made that joke.
17:03So, again, the one thing I don't want to do is pretend to be here.
17:08I don't want to pretend. Woo. You know, I don't want to come off like I understand much, if anything, about medicine.
17:15But I have been playing fantasy for a long time.
17:18We have a list of players that would, could, and should have fantasy impact.
17:23But they had season-ending injuries. So, each one is going to be different than the other one.
17:28I have found I feel comfortable ignoring, not say ignoring, but I don't want any part of the late season injuries.
17:35If they happen late, the recovery time, I worry about setbacks.
17:39We've already had a couple of those. So, I'm going to just kind of put that out there.
17:45First off, Patrick Mahomes, he's getting a ton of love in the industry streets right now.
17:50You know, ADP 90 is pretty much the cheapest you've ever been able to get him.
17:55But he got hurt week 15, that's mid-December, toward A and LCL.
17:59I mean, the reports, he's working out seven hours a day, and he's ahead of schedule.
18:04Not like he was running much, but the running he did do was effective.
18:09Meaning, when Mahomes ran, he made it to the marker, extended the drive.
18:13Very efficient. Part of why his EPA stuff is so great.
18:17I'm off Mahomes. I think they've telegraphed they don't really want him running.
18:21Plus, I'm worried, I think as I should be, when they brought in Ken Walker.
18:26So, I think I'm out of Mahomes at the price.
18:29There's way too many quarterbacks all going at the same time.
18:33He's going right next to Jackson Dart. I'd rather have Dart, who's running, and for all intents and purposes, is healthy.
18:40What do you think about Mahomes, Jack? That's so interesting.
18:43I take, I think, the exact opposite approach on this player.
18:47I don't know that we've ever been so divided on a player as Patrick Mahomes.
18:52We should also mention, very briefly, he just became the NFL's first half-a-billion-dollar player with that contract that they gave him.
18:59So, clearly, they are comfortable with their investment. Obviously, we didn't expect this to be a long-term injury regardless.
19:05I heard Mahomes say that he's been practicing with a brace on his left knee, and something about, you know, I wore
19:12a brace in college, and it's on the same knee, and it's not too different.
19:17Obviously, we want him to be unencumbered by the injury for what you said about his rushing ability.
19:23It's not like he's Lamar Jackson, and you're going to get 900 rushing yards out of him in a season.
19:29But even his ability to scramble, extend plays, that sort of thing, very important for him.
19:35But you also said it. This is the cheapest we've ever been able to get Patrick Mahomes.
19:40And I feel like I've been saying this so much this offseason, but I'm going to keep saying it.
19:47Because Mahomes used to be this locked-in top-five fantasy quarterback.
19:50And then his decline coincided perfectly with Eric Biennemi leaving as offensive coordinator, and Matt Nagy coming in.
19:56Matt Nagy will do that to a quarterback. He will cause them to slide, especially for fantasy purposes.
20:02But Biennemi is back, and maybe Mahomes isn't as hungry as he used to be, as a young buck out there now that he's got paid.
20:10But I'm willing to be wrong and take him as late as he's going, acknowledging that maybe I'll scoop up a really
20:17late quarterback for those first couple weeks, so I don't feel like I have to play Mahomes right away so we can kind of gauge it.
20:26But I'd rather have him over Jackson Dart. Jackson Dart, the vibes are bad with the Giants.
20:32He's injury—I don't want to say injury-prone, but he's certainly inviting injuries more than the average quarterback does.
20:37So I think I'm going Mahomes. Yeah, I mean, listen, I could buy all that because I'm a nefarious cheapskate, and he's cheap.
20:45So I get it. If Mahomes was going up near those top two or three QBs, then I'd be a hard out.
20:52I've just pivoted towards the more running quarterbacks. That's always how I've built, again, having best ball brain on right now.
20:59My QB2 or QB3, I want guys that can run.
21:02In redraft, you may have me. I may want Mahomes over a guy like Dart who really feels very erratic.
21:09And for me, kind of built for best ball where we want all the spike weeks.
21:14We don't want any of the floor weeks. Best ball will afford you that luxury.
21:19Where in redraft, you could see Mahomes just consistently doing his thing.
21:23Looking last year, I didn't even realize how great he was.
21:27You know, from week, what is it, four through nine, he had five straight top five QB weeks.
21:33So it's still in there. No one understands the game better.
21:36I think I just worry that they might be funneling it more through Ken Walker.
21:41But I'm not going to start taking shots at Patrick Mahomes.
21:45Again, if he's cheap. Next up, another quarterback. This is Bo Nix, ADP 105.
21:49He got hurt even later. That happened, right? On like the second to last play or whatever, that AFC divisional round game.
21:57He fractured his right ankle. Ankle. He had surgery with a follow-up procedure in April.
22:01That's the thing that kind of worries me. They're still saying he's considered ahead of schedule.
22:07And week one looks likely. I mean, you have to take him over starting quarterbacks.
22:12Like Matthew Stafford is going right there. Jared Goff.
22:15Even Kyler Murray, Jordan Love, Tyler Shuck. All guys I'd probably rather have than Bo Nix, who again, we need him to run.
22:22What is that going to be like? We haven't seen him do much of anything yet.
22:27What do you think about Bo Nix? Yeah, I think I get why he's going so much later than Mahomes.
22:34Because the injury happened later. And because he needs his mobility much more than Patrick Mahomes to be fantasy relevant.
22:41He's only played two years. In those years, yeah, he finished his QB7, which is great.
22:46Back-to-back years. That's amazing. He added Jalen Waddell to his arsenal.
22:49That's all good stuff. But here's a fun fact, John.
22:53I don't know if you know this. I didn't until today.
22:56Bo Nix is one of only 13 quarterbacks in NFL history to throw the ball 600 plus times in a season without reaching 4,000 passing yards.
23:05That's bad, rare air for a guy like him to be in if he gets his mobility zapped away from him this year.
23:12So yeah, I like Waddell helping him out. But it's not going to help him be a top 10 QB if he
23:20has to try to stand in the pocket or if he's really encumbered.
23:24And I know Sean Payton said he came out, there's not going to be any hiccups once training camp starts.
23:30You decide for yourself how much you want to trust Sean Payton.
23:34I trust him about as far as I can, you know, block him across the NFL field.
23:40And you might not know this, listeners, although you probably do because my voice gives it away.
23:46I'm a pretty slight guy, so it's not going to go far.
23:49So I'm out on Bo Nix probably entirely unless we get some crazy good, you know, PR coverage coming up here in the next few months.
23:58Trust him as far as you could push him off the ball, right?
24:02Now, you are right about the QB price. Like he is going much later than Mahomes.
24:08But it is worth noting for anybody that maybe hasn't done 50 some odd drafts like I have.
24:13I have never seen such consolidation for QB pricing.
24:16Josh Allen is an anomaly. He goes way up top.
24:20Then you get Lamar, and it's been late for him.
24:23But Lamar in like the mid to late 50s.
24:26And then come pick 65. It just begins. I think I counted 18 quarterbacks have a ADP between 65 and like 105.
24:33So in a 40-pick span, more than one out of every three picks is a QB for like three or four rounds in a row.
24:41So it's just worth it. Anybody is kind of doing some preseason work, maybe thinking about doing best ball stuff, be ready.
24:49You have to really choose between these guys. You really have to pick a pair, right?
24:54You're picking a guy you like in the 60s and 70s.
24:57There may be one more that you like in that 90 or 100 range because the cover really empties out very fast, worth noting.
25:05If they do get caught waiting really late, you might want Daniel Jones, our next quarterback.
25:11EDP 145. He also got hurt in late in the season.
25:14That was December first week. Torn right Achilles. Those can be really bad.
25:18We've also seen that, you know, sap running in power the next season.
25:23He's doing seven-on-seven drills, which is encouraging. But I'm not really sure I'm trusting anything I'm seeing from DJ.
25:29Also worth noting, the team's success was so directly correlated to him.
25:33I didn't think I'd ever be saying that about Daniel Jones, right?
25:37They were breaking all team differential records, all the EPA records, everything.
25:41They were a wagon. And then he goes away.
25:44And Jonathan Taylor, who was arcing for like greatest fantasy season ever, like the smash pick you needed, all of a sudden was costing people playoff matchups.
25:53So what do you think about Daniel Jones? And then more specifically, because he's going late enough that we can make a cost argument.
26:00How do you think it impacts the rest of the Colts?
26:04That's what I'm really thinking about. Yeah, I mean, we can't blame the Colts too much when their reserve option was a
26:11guy who'd been coaching high school football for like the last four seasons.
26:16Phillip Rivers comes off, off the bench, off the bench.
26:19That was crazy. From the distant past to come and try to save the season.
26:24So I'm not going to really hold it against any of the pass catchers on this team if they have to go out there without Daniel Jones.
26:33Riley Leonard, for all intents and purposes, I still think is a decent backup option if they decide to ride with him.
26:40We don't know if it will be him or whatever, Gardner Minshew.
26:44But I do think Daniel Jones is going to be a tough sell.
26:48We don't know how quarterbacks are really affected by ACL stuff that are of his caliber because the last few ones, it's
26:55like Aaron Rodgers tore his ACL, but he was on a new team and on the verge of 10,000 years old.
27:02We don't know that his exact follow-up season is going to translate to a guy like Daniel Jones necessarily.
27:08This is where our lack of doctoring really shows probably.
27:12But I do think Daniel Jones, if he's even not mobile, he's a good enough passer as he showed last year that
27:19like we were just talking about Josh Downs. I think he's still going to be fine.
27:24Tyler Warren, he's still going to be fine. So I'm not actually impacting the rest of the cast because of this injury.
27:31It's just a matter of do I even want to dare try Daniel Jones with the last pick of my draft, you
27:39know, because you decide between him and a guy like Geno Smith basically at this point.
27:44I'd rather at least take the upshot of Daniel Jones.
27:47I think that last point is a good one.
27:50I'm also glad you mentioned the Downs and Warren thing.
27:53They are two players. I don't want to say they're QB proof, but those style of player can overcome quarterback quality because
28:01a lot of it is getting open near the line of scrimmage and getting kind of layup targets, high probability targets.
28:08I think they're both really skilled and have that ability to do so.
28:12If and when Daniel Jones comes back, I think you're getting an immediate, I don't know, a wide receiver two in Downs and definitely a tight end one.
28:21I think you're getting a tight end one regardless with Warren.
28:25I think you're getting a high end tight end one with Jones back.
28:29So worth it with those guys, I think, to, you know, still be buying in even with question marks as far as Jones himself.
28:37Again, it's late enough. If it fits the build, I think you do it.
28:41Jake, of course, we ran on longer than I wanted to.
28:45I don't know if we're going to make it to everybody.
28:49Let me shuffle some papers. Let's take a quick breath.
28:52I want to get into some running backs. And if this takes too long, because I want to give everything the attention
28:59it deserves, maybe we'll just break this episode into two and do the pass catchers next time around with whatever news and notes.
29:07So let me take a quick breath. I'll get right back to you.

32:03All right, Jakes, thank you so much for that.
32:06I know I didn't have enough time to do any medical studying, but we can talk about some running backs, right?
32:13The lack of medical training is really kind of showing through today.
32:17So let's do the running backs again. I want to give the attention here because this stuff matters, right?
32:23Chaos is a ladder, and these opportunities and these players are going to be impactful one way or another.
32:30Either they hit the ground running, they're really good, we wanted them.
32:33Or in a case like Cam Scadabo, let's say this goes wrong, you're paying a Top 45 overall pick, and it could really hurt you, right?
32:42So impact kind of goes both ways. Scadabo was hurt in Week 8, so this is quite a bit earlier than some of the other ones.
32:51That two months can make a big difference. That was Versus Philly.
32:54He dislocated his ankle. It was a compound fracture, a deltoid ligament tear.
32:59Not that I know what that is. Now he had emergency surgery, which is both good and bad, right?
33:05We want these procedures immediately. The worst thing, I think, is when teams and players try to heal things with rest only
33:12to find out, oh, that didn't work. Surgery is a good thing.
33:16He showed up to all voluntary workouts. He has a chance at Week 1.
33:21They're saying unlikely to be 100%. We know Scadabo, and this is the guy you want in fantasy, catches the ball, all
33:28the end zone work, and best friends with the quarterback.
33:31The two of them together are like a lion's share of all the yardage and all the fantasy points.
33:37What do you think about Scadabo? He's a guy I have been drafting with my best ball brain because I think we
33:45saw Tyrone Tracy get the full workload, so I think those two guys are fairly priced as a tandem.
33:51Talk to me about the Giants, Scadabo, what do you think about Big Blue?
33:56Well, John, I actually did take my MCATs over the break, so I've come back with much more knowledge now, and I'm ready to break this down.
34:04Yes. And here's what I've discovered with Cam Scadabo.
34:07His injury was gross and gnarly. It was one of the worst injuries that we've seen in the last couple of years.
34:15I mean, I appreciate that they want to get him as involved as possible.
34:19I appreciate that he wants to be as involved as possible, but the dude still runs like the freaking juggernaut from X-Men
34:26head first, and I can't imagine he's necessarily putting his health as priority number one.
34:31Did you seem to do a backflip? I'm still very nervous.
34:35He was doing backflips. Of course he did. Of course he was doing backflips, and they joked.
34:41They were like, okay, Harbaugh was like, all right, it's good to see the mobility, but let's cut back on the gymnastics.
34:48Sorry to cut you off, but you mentioned it.
34:51I couldn't believe it when I saw that. If he backflips his way into another injury, I unfortunately wouldn't all be that
34:58surprised by it, which is the thing that scares me about drafting a guy like Cam Skadaboo is he's going so high,
35:05and yes, the expectation can be he's going to be 70% of the backfield, or maybe even he's going to be 50%
35:12of the team production at this point if Malik Nabors has worse issues, which we'll discuss later, but I still just, the
35:20only giant that I'm really comfortable drafting right now, truly, is Isaiah Likely, and Tyrone Tracy, as you mentioned, very late, because
35:27the possibility of injury is so high with Skadaboo.
35:30He's also one of those pieces, obviously, along with Jackson Dart, who has his own injury concerns, and Malik Nabors, who has his own injury concerns.
35:38They feel like a team one injury away from looking like the, you know, freaking Miami Dolphins this year, so I'm pretty nervous.
35:46I'm taking Isaiah Likely, and I'm just staying away pretty much from the rest of this crew.
35:51Yeah, I would definitely say not overloading on Giants is a good idea, though I have to be honest, transparency is kind of my thing.
36:00I have lots of Giants spread out, right? So I have some Skadaboo and Tracy tandems, but I'm trying not to do that with Dart and Likely.
36:09I'm with you on Likely. Those are teams that I like to have Jackson Dart.
36:13When I have a running quarterback, especially when I can get a little bit later, I like to pair them with the tight ends.
36:21I was talking about Dulcich and Malik Willis also, I think.
36:25I think that's a cool kind of late pairing.
36:28That's like a team version of the Giants, which maybe says something about either of them.
36:33I'm not quite sure, but it's not good, whatever it says.
36:37So yeah, I think Skadaboo is a bit of a risk.
36:40I think you should be worried. I think I like him more in redraft, right?
36:45If he's healthy, you want that week one stuff.
36:48We're all going to be dealing with injuries and figuring out waiver stuff as we go.
36:53I want the guy that could get me off to a great start.
36:58I mean, the type of usage he was getting is hard to find, especially that part of the draft board.
37:04Though there is another player and he's going around later.
37:08He's the next on our injury board here. It's Quinshawn Junkins for Cleveland who really impressed me given the late start and lack of preparation.
37:16Last year, he got hurt in late December week 16 versus Buffalo.
37:20It was nasty also. Dislocated right ankle and a fractured fibula.
37:23I couldn't believe I was watching videos of him right now.
37:27He looks awesome. They're over the moon for him and his prospects.
37:31What's the problem? One team's lie. Players lie, Jake.
37:34But also, it's the ecosystem of the Browns. This is ADP 55, which if you think you're getting 100% Junkins, I think is good.
37:42My worry is how good are they going to be?
37:45And his past game work has been threatened by Samson.
37:48So given the late time of the injury with Junkins and I think, like I mentioned, bad environment with the threat of
37:56the backup losing some pass work, I think I'm out on Junkins.
37:59I think I'm letting other people go that way.
38:02What do you think? Yeah, if literally everything goes perfectly for him, then I'm comfortable at his ADP.
38:08But I'm still not even necessarily over the moon at his ADP.
38:12So yeah, that to me just says back off.
38:15And I know that, yeah, it's team lying offseason.
38:18It's coach speak season. They're going to say he's confident and explosive and ahead of schedule because what are you supposed to say about your star running back?
38:27And I know that supposedly his injury was higher up on the ankle, so it was like a best case scenario for him.
38:35I think best case scenario is that he actually turns into a pass catching running back, which I don't think is on
38:42the table because you mentioned Dylan Sampson's still there.
38:45And best case scenario would be he's in an offense that has a lot of scoring potential, which I just don't see
38:52with this year's version of the Browns. So if he's 100% good to go and there's no setbacks, fine.
38:59But like you, I will probably just bypass that position around where he's being drafted and pivot to something else.

41:59right next to Jadarian Price who I'm over the moon for and I will not be fielding any you know 1v1 questions
42:06on him because to me that's already a given what the answer is I do have another injured player he's not on
42:14our list because he didn't finish the year injured where are you how about Bucky Irving this is a decision lots of
42:21people have to make and the answer could be neither that's my answer not to bury the lead Bucky Irvin v Quentin
42:28Junkins at the same ADP Jake yeah I wonder if we're overreacting a bit too much to Bucky Irving now I've been
42:35worried about Bucky Irving and so I understand and understood his initial decline in ADP I just wonder that we're overcorrecting now
42:42because if he's going this far down and we know that he is a good pass catcher obviously Kenny Gainwell is there
42:50and we've talked a lot about Kenny Gainwell being somebody to target later in drafts because he's an improvement I think over
42:57Rashad White but if Bucky does look like he did a year and a half ago I think we're gonna feel a
43:04little foolish so based on upside I would much rather have Bucky Irving than Quinshot Junkins I don't know that I'm gonna
43:11trip over myself to click draft on him but if he keeps slipping down even a little bit more I might have
43:19to yeah I was really big into Bucky the first year that was a hit came back for the encore that didn't
43:26work out the injury kind of lingered I ended up getting stung and now this year Errol the points you make are
43:33very good hard not to worry about Gainwell and then Tucker is back there but I would agree a 100% Bucky Irving
43:40wins the job no one's getting 100% of carries right those days are over but yeah I think he could still be
43:47great with a price that's moving down right that's when my antenna starts to pop so it'll be interesting to see but
43:55I think we're in agreement neither of us are gonna end up with a lot of Junkins at cost there's too many
44:02red flags alright we got two more running backs I want to get through them both and again we'll give the pass
44:09catchers their due next week because this is really good stuff where you know talking about a lot of process stuff pulling
44:16the curtain on what we think about these players and all the subsequent stuff next up is Jonathan Brooks who I've been
44:24lucky enough to completely avoid because I'm kind of a curmudgeon when it comes to injuries the second I hear a guy's
44:31injured right now I'm not interested Brooks is not injured right now now he did re-tear a right ACL in December but
44:38it was of 24 right so we haven't seen him he's had the time they are just gushing over him right now
44:45I mean not only are they gushing over him right now they've telegraphed it with a roster move right allowing Rico Dowdle
44:52who was gosh Barry Sanders you know and Walter Peaton rolled into one for like a three week stretch last year they
45:00moved on from him with Chuba Hubbard he's still there but the way they're talking about Brooks is man he could maybe
45:07be a 1A and again pricing is really tough he's at pick 108 he's very polarizing player I feel like people are
45:14either way on it in on him or all the way out where do you stand on Jonathan Brooks for the Panthers
45:21Jonathan with two O's Brooks is that how Jonathan is always spelled by the way I thought there was it was a
45:29T-H-A-N not T-H-O-N and I can't stop looking at it it's like you know I didn't notice that until just now and
45:36I'm like I was gonna say Jake I think you have a typo it's J-O-N I thought that's where you were placing
45:43the second O you know no you're right it is two O's and I've never seen that as a John with an
45:50H draft him I can't even understand the concept of how his name spelled I can't believe in him for my fantasy
45:58team no I do think that there's obvious risk he's a running back coming off of consecutive torn ACLs and remember how
46:05long it took for Javante Williams to get back to his old self after just one ACL tear but the better news
46:12for Brooks is that he's so young he's still only 22 years old so maybe his recovery timeline looks a lot faster
46:19than a guy that's even three years you know that season well he's had ample time at this point now yeah he's
46:26had tons of time and if he's not out there sort of beleaguering the injury further like he's not being asked to
46:34run through the injury in games which could probably be a setback for a lot of guys then the freshness probably does
46:41account for something John and I will say Rico Dowdo you mentioned he outpaced Chuba Hubbard last year granted part of that
46:48was because of Hubbard's own calf injury that flared up but the team showed confidence in Brooks you don't let Rico Dowdo
46:55walk because it's not like he was gonna have to get a massive payday you could afford to keep both Chubbard Chubbard
47:03Hubbard and Dowdo that's a good one I actually like that we should just cut through it and call him Chubbard from
47:10here on out I think save space save you know vowels in any case I think Brooks has the vote of confidence
47:17and at this range who has this kind of upside around where he's being drafted not a ton of guys so I
47:24get the appeal yeah that that's the name of the game in the triple digit picks remember most of these guys are
47:31going to get dropped or hurt before the first month of plays over so if you have a chance at a player
47:39to check the boxes to be the big breakout I think Brooks is that I don't know if it's going to happen
47:46I don't even know if I'm making it a week one but that is the type of play that could hit so
47:53I depending on my build that's where I've been let's do this last player really quick it's Zach Charbonnet on the Seahawks
48:00ADP 165 I believe he's going to start moving up now he tore an ACL in January in the wild card game
48:08that's part of why I've been so high on price I normally give 12 months for recovery this is kind of what
48:15we were mentioning why I'm into the early injuries I want the 12 month recovery time to land in the off season
48:22so there's no pressure to return too early I always feel like everybody the player the staff the coaches everybody has a
48:29vested interest in getting these guys on the field they don't know better they want to win they want to play and
48:36I worry so when I see the timeline that's what I'm into this is the opposite this feels totally rushed I don't
48:44know how we could get this guy back he had surgery in late February nine month recovery usually minimum that's October November
48:51now they're like they're trying to talk about having him available early there was a mention of week one today yeah right
48:58not gonna happen so I'm hoping that people run with that week one narrative and it hopefully will knock price down around
49:05where I'll be there to scoop him up on 100% of teams it's not that I don't like Charbonnet I just think
49:13this is putting the cart before the horse way too many things can go wrong and you risk the re-aggravation if you
49:20rush back too fast so I'm out on Sharbs even at pick 165 I'd rather have Helani 1v1 right now where are
49:27you on Charbonnet yeah I mean I mentioned Devante Williams and his like two-year process to looking as good or close to
49:34as good as he did initially Charbonnet doesn't have even like you said a full year to get back to his old
49:41self and let me remind you his old self was not anything fantastic for your fantasy teams a healthy Charbonnet never finished
49:49higher than RB29 in PPR points per game yeah they let Kenneth Walker go in free agency but they spent the first
49:56round pick on Jadarian Price so unless Price just completely winds up an unexpected bust they're not going to give Charbonnet the
50:03workload that you want to be this invested in a guy so yeah give me Price give me Helani give me Emmanuel
50:10Wilson if you want to just take a contrarian shot later on in your drafts but there's no chance that I'm doing
50:18anything with Charbonnet yeah I agree well and Emmanuel Wilson mentioned means it's time to get out of here Mr.
50:24Jake you know what I'm glad that we took the time though we will sever the back end of the outline and
50:31we'll go back to it next week with past catchers and whatever news and notes come up thanks so much everybody for
