NegativeInjuryOct 29, 2026
Breece Hall's quad injury slow-motion return appears to have finally reached its destination; Hall's marathon absence had the unfortunate distinction of proving this should probably be a two-man backfield, as Braelon Allen was amongst the league's most productive runners over the past month even in poor game environments; whether or not that actually happens is far from assured, but Hall cannot be returned to his previous high-end RB2 rank until we see how this shakes out in Jersey.
PositiveRoleOct 28, 2026
Hall (quad) is expected to play but needs full practice confirmation before starting with confidence. His role is uncertain after Braelon Allen looked good as fill-in starter. Before Allen's breakout, Hall was RB11, RB17, and RB23 in usage to open the year. If Hall returns to a 60/40 split with Allen, he becomes FLEX rather than RB2. The Jets' entire backfield averages 18.2 expected half PPR points; 60% of that is 11.0 expected points versus Hall's 13.8 average in Weeks 1-3. Hall has been sidelined since Week 3.
NegativeRoleOct 20, 2026
Breece Hall is closer to no panic than total panic, but there is some concern about his workload upon return. Braelon Allen has looked outstanding in Hall's absence, carrying 41 times for 194 yards across Weeks 5-6. J.J. McCarthy still expects Hall to be the lead back when healthy, and Aaron Glenn has said Hall remains the starter. Hall's receiving ability (10 catches for 102 yards across three appearances, averaging 20.3 touches) gives him another way to produce. However, Glenn has discussed sharing responsibilities, and Allen has earned a role. Hall's 3.2 yards per carry before the injury don't give much reason to assume New York will immediately return every rushing opportunity to him. The panic lives in Allen keeping enough work to lower Hall's ceiling, not in Hall losing the starting job.
