0:00What is going on everyone? We are back.
0:04And today, we are here to discuss the week eight waiver wire. The waiver wire as of late has delivered several pretty
0:12big hits. Guys like Jeremy Bernard and Omar Cooper Jr. have been winning people matchups as of late.
0:19The waiver wire is starting to dry up, but there are still several fun young players that we can get onto rosters,
0:25stash for the rest of the season, see if they can break out and help us win our leagues. We'll be doing just that here
0:32today, going position by position, talking about all the guys that you should be targeting on the waiver wire this week.
0:38My name is Michael O'Hara.
0:40Let's get right into it. All right, as always, kicking things off with the quarterback position. There are actually several names that I would be keeping an
0:48eye on this week if you need a bye week fill-in, a streamer, or just someone to stash because you don't have a
0:54set-it-and-forget-it QB1. Kicking things off with Malik Willis. Both he and the Dolphins offense have legitimately started to look good. They're actually
1:05sustaining drives as of late, putting up 20-plus points on the board, which through the first month of the season, I did not think was possible. The fact
1:13that they are sustaining drives, which is in large part thanks to the arrival of young talents like Caleb Douglas, Ali Gordon, Chris Bell has been making
1:21plays. Malik Washington has remained consistent. We saw Greg Dulcich pop up for a big game this past week. That has been huge because no more
1:30three-and-outs. Series are being converted. They're actually scoring points. But, the big factor here is that Willis is actually using his legs. You
1:39see it here on the right side. Eight carries in each of the last two weeks.
1:43He had crossed that number just once through his first four games of the season. His scramble rate is up. It's up
1:50at 11.8% in these last two games after it was at 10.2% to open the season. But, you also see that he has a rushing score in each
1:59of the last two weeks. He is using his legs in the red area. He has two short-yardage punching touchdowns each of the last two games. So, all of that
2:07coming together has led to Willis scoring 20-plus fantasy points each of his last two games here against the Bengals and the New York Jets. I don't
2:16think that this guy is now like a fringe QB1 moving forward because the passing numbers they have still remained incredibly lackluster. You see he
2:26doesn't even have a 250-yard passing game to his name on the season. But, if we see the offense continue to look like
2:34it can score 21-28 points in any given week and Willis' scramble rate, his rushing production remains high-level, I think that this guy can be a quarterback
2:44streamer. So, this will be something to keep an eye on. I'm probably not getting to him against a tougher matchup against
2:51the New England Patriots, but I definitely want to see if the rushing production in particular holds up and whether or not these young guys continue
2:59to perform help this offense look actually functional after it looked like it could be one of the worst offenses in recent memory through the first month of
3:07the year. The next guy on the list and the one that I think is arguably the top streamer of the week, that's how I would
3:13have it ranked, is Jacoby Brissett. And there's no way around it, Jacoby Brissett has just not been good this year. He has not been playing
3:21particularly exciting football. It's a lot of check-downs, a lot of short throws. He's just not pushing the ball down field. The Cardinals offense, it's
3:29like death by a thousand paper cuts.
3:30They are not going to torch you deep, but we've seen them rack up play volume, rack up pass volume, and just continue
3:36to move the ball down the field in exciting spots, in attackable matchups.
3:41That is exactly what we have in week eight. They will take on the Dallas Cowboys you see here. This is a defense
3:48that has allowed 20 points per game to opposing quarterbacks. They rank bottom 10 in scoring defense, bottom 10 in yards per play, EPA per play. This is
3:57very clearly a defense that is exploitable for fantasy purposes. I mean, we saw on Monday night football this past week, Tanner McKee and the
4:04Eagles scored 21 points without their QB1, their running back one was banged up, running back two was out, running back three was out, wide receiver one
4:12was out, wide receiver two was out. It was just a disgusting offensive group and they still managed to score three touchdowns on this Dallas defense. The
4:21matchup is so clean and we know that Brissett can also rack up ridiculous passing volume in this one because the Cowboys offense is so strong and the
4:31Cardinals defense is one of the worst in the league, much like the Cowboys. We can easily see Dak Prescott and the
4:37offense put this game in a spot where Brissett is having to drop back to pass 50 plus times because that is a lofty
4:45number, but we have seen Brissett hit that mark three times already this season. 50 plus dropbacks three times in seven games. It's truly ridiculous. We
4:55have talked about it on the channel before, just insane play and dropback volume for Brissett and this Cardinals offense. We can see that once again in
5:04this spot. And if you get to 50 plus dropbacks in any given week, it's basically impossible for you to fail in
5:11in fantasy purposes and that has shown up for Jacoby Brissett in those three games where he has hit 50 dropbacks, we
5:17have seen him score 25 plus fantasy points two times. You see it up here, 26 points against the Detroit Lions and 25
5:25points against the San Francisco 49ers.
5:27When he has the necessary pass volume, it doesn't matter if it's ugly, it doesn't matter if it's death by a thousand papercuts, you're just going to
5:36score bunch of fantasy points with that sort of volume. Expecting to see that kind of day here in a dome against the
5:43Cowboys defense, I would view him as the top streamer on the week if you've got your quarterback on by, if you're
5:48dealing with injuries, this is definitely a guy to look to on the waiver wire. The other quarterback who is really in contention for the top
5:56streamer of the week is Geno Smith. It has been a season of real highs and lows for Smith. Sometimes he looks like the
6:05guy that we saw with the Raiders last year, just can't get anything going on the offensive side of the ball, making
6:10terrible plays. At other times, he's just throwing dots, looking like the guy that we saw in Seattle. And to his advantage, we have really seen the Jets
6:19group of offensive skill players look fun this year. They've got Garrett Wilson, Omar Cooper Jr. is coming on, Kenyon Siddique has made plays here and
6:27there, Adnan Mitchell is back in the fold, Braelon Allen is in the midst of a career year, and Breece Hall should be
6:33back in the lineup next week. So, this is like a legitimately fun offense.
6:38Whether or not Geno Smith can capitalize on the presence of those talented skill players, it really is match-up dependent. In good spots, we've seen him
6:47be able to thrive here against the Detroit Lions, 26 fantasy points last week against a poor Miami Dolphins defense, 24 fantasy points. Luckily,
6:56once again, he has a very attackable match-up. The Raiders rank fifth in fantasy points per game surrendered to opposing quarterbacks, 29th in scoring
7:05defense, 25th in yards per play allowed against the pass, and 27th in EPA per play allowed against the pass. They've surrendered multiple passing touchdowns
7:15in each of their last five games, and three quarterbacks have scored three or more passing touchdowns against this Raiders defense in the last five weeks.
7:23This is, no doubt about it, an exploitable match-up. We have seen the Jets offense humming in the last couple of weeks in good spots. Would be no
7:32surprise whatsoever if they continue to keep the ball rolling here against a gross Raiders defense. And we have seen some good stuff out of Kirk Cousins and
7:41the Raiders offense at this point in the year. The record hasn't necessarily shown it, but it wouldn't be shocking if the Raiders are able to keep pace, put
7:49this game into a spot where we get 50 plus points in this outing. A real fantasy-friendly matchup, so I would definitely have Geno Smith circled as
7:58well as a potential streamer. All right, to close out the quarterback position, we are going to rapid-fire through three quick names. We have talked about
8:05Michael Penix already. The story is so straightforward. The first few weeks in his first three starts for the Falcons this year, the Falcons scored 11
8:14offensive touchdowns, eight of them came on the ground, just three of them come through the air. Then, in these last two
8:20weeks, the offense continues to roll in Atlanta, but they have zero carries, zero rush attempts inside the 10-yard line these last two weeks. All of their
8:29offensive touchdowns have come through the air, three passing touchdowns for Penix in each of the last two games. So, we have seen the pendulum swing both
8:37ways in terms of how they are scoring these touchdowns, but I think the general takeaway is that this offense has been really good under Michael
8:45Penix. They've had some tough moments, they've had smaller lulls here and there, but they continue to be a threat to score 30 plus points in any given
8:54game. With that sort of offensive environment, you can feel free to lean on Penix as a streamer. Just hope and bet that those touchdowns come through
9:02the air as opposed to coming on the ground, but you know that the pass volume probably isn't going to be there.
9:07They want this offense to flow through Bijan Robinson and the ground game. We see that here in the box score, no more
9:14than 34 pass attempts in any game so far this year. So, you're really just gambling on this offense continuing to have the ball rolling, and then those
9:22touchdowns coming through the air. It's a fine bet, but given the low pass volume, there are typically better bets to make. I also wanted to highlight
9:30Baker Mayfield largely for the same reasons. We see this offense really start to hit its stride in week seven.
9:36They just put a pummeling on the Carolina Panthers, but it all comes on the ground. They score 40 plus points.
9:42There are a defensive touchdown, maybe two mixed in there as well, but they just don't need to pass the ball to to
9:48win this game. Mayfield has 11 attempts and 12 dropbacks, but with the offense looking really, really good, that should give you some level of optimism about
9:58Baker Mayfield finding fantasy success when they're actually forced to pass the ball, and we could very well see that here in this upcoming stretch. They get
10:06the Atlanta Falcons in week eight. We just talked about how that offense can be high-powered, would force the Buccaneers to pass the ball more often.
10:13The Chicago Bears are spoken for. The Lions are spoken for. We could see Baker Mayfield dropping back to pass a lot
10:19more often here in the coming games. And if the offense continues to perform at the level that we saw in week seven,
10:26could definitely be some fantasy fireworks here. The last name is J.J.
10:29McCarthy. You're not picking him up in single quarterback leagues because the Giants are heading into a bye. He should definitely already be rostered in
10:37Superflex leagues, but man, J.J. is putting me in the hurt locker at the moment. He has played five quarters of football for the Giants, and he has
10:46looked just sensational. There have been some highs and lows. Like, the success rate isn't really good for McCarthy to this point, but the highs, man, they
10:55they are just so, so strong. It's frozen ropes, haymakers, dots left and right for J.J. McCarthy. It is a really small
11:03sample, but among quarterbacks with 50 plus dropbacks this year, he ranks first in average depth of target and first in deep throw rate. This guy is just
11:12slinging the rock, and it has been met with immense success to this point in the year. The fantasy production hasn't necessarily been there. He does not find
11:20the end zone in week seven against the Texans, but he is undoubtedly starting to look really, really good against the Eagles, the Commanders in the next
11:29couple of weeks, two defenses that have looked attackable here as of late. I think that you could consider getting to him, but leave him on the waiver wire
11:37for now with him on bye. If you have a really deep roster or a really deep league for some reason, maybe you could
11:43stash him, but McCarthy is officially a name to keep an eye on. All right, moving over to the running back position, the number one pick up at
11:50running back and the number one pick up of the week is Denver Broncos rookie running back Jonah Coleman. This is arguably the first like real flippening
12:01or the early stages of a flippening that I can remember this year. We have had some guys take advantage of injuries or
12:07sway some committees in their favor, but this looks like Jonah Coleman is going to be the first guy to truly steal a job
12:15this year cuz he returns from IR and he is immediately inserted as the 1A in the Denver Broncos backfield. I have talked
12:24about it in the past on this show. Add this guy because JK Dobbins has been so so poor on the ground. All of his
12:32numbers have been just straight up bad through the first six weeks of the year.
12:36Coleman comes back from IR and he is immediately looking rock solid and playing a really strong role in this backfield. So, looking at the usage, he
12:45plays 50% of the snaps, leads the backfield in snap rate, and he also has 50% of the backfield opportunities. Nine carries and two targets for Jonah
12:55Coleman in this game, more opportunities than both RJ Harvey and JK Dobbins.
13:00There are a few spots where you would like to see Coleman's role improve.
13:04Dobbins does get the lone goal line carry in this game and Harvey is still involved in the receiving game. He runs
13:1025% of the routes and draws two targets himself. So, the access to those high value touches, the goal line opportunities, and the receiving work,
13:19that's still a little bit limited for Coleman at this point in time, but it would be no surprise whatsoever if his
13:25role continues to expand, grows, and gets bigger here in the coming weeks because Coleman quite clearly looks like the best rusher in this offense and
13:34arguably the best all around back in Denver at the moment. He looks so good in this game. You see him on the field.
13:41He's picking up extra yardage. He's picking up chunk gains. He just looks very, very strong. That shows up in the numbers as well. 6 yards per carry, 27
13:50yards after contact, enforces two missed tackles as well. The usage is undoubtedly trending in the right direction. Coleman passes the eye test
13:59as well. We also get comments after the game from Sean Payton saying, "Yeah, Coleman looks like he has the juice."
14:05which is something that the Broncos definitely need. And Payton goes on to say, "We need to get this guy more touches." Sean Payton famously very
14:12unreliable with his coach speak and all of that stuff, but there's no doubt that everything is moving in the right direction for Jaleel Johnson. What the
14:20ceiling looks like, whether or not he can truly take control of this Broncos backfield remains to be seen. I personally would not be surprised if he
14:28just ices J.K. Dobbins. I think that there will still be room for R.J. Harvey to operate in the receiving game. He is
14:35quite clearly the best receiving back of the bunch, in my opinion. But I still think there's room to grow and enough
14:40for Coleman to be like a legitimately startable fantasy running back if this Denver Broncos offense continues to take steps forward. We see them pick on the
14:48Arizona Cardinals this past week, a very, very strong matchup, but there's no doubt that the Broncos offense looks far better than what we had seen to open
14:56the year. So, if Coleman's role continues to improve, the Broncos continue to take steps forward as an offense, this guy could be a weekly
15:04starter in your fantasy lineups. So, if you need help at running back, which I assume is the vast majority of people
15:10because the running back landscape is so disgusting right now, I would heavily prioritize Jaleel Johnson ahead of Week 8 waivers. Spend 15, 16, 17, 18% of your
15:21FAB budget on Jaleel Coleman, but if you really need running back help, I would not be opposed to getting even more
15:27aggressive for him. This is quite clearly the top pick up of the week. All right, the rest of the way at running
15:33back, we do only really have stashes, but there are some exciting ones, no doubt about it. Leading the way with Seth McGowan. This is largely driven by
15:43the rumblings of a Jonathan Taylor trade. The Colts are initiating a rebuild. They fired their GM. Trade rumors are flying around everywhere.
15:51They can't win a game. You can talk about that. You That's another story, but Jonathan Taylor's name has popped up in those trade rumors. Whether or not he
16:00is going to be traded remains to be seen. I would say that it is more likely he stays in Indianapolis than not.
16:07Still, there is no doubt that teams are going to be calling the Colts for Jonathan Taylor here in the next couple
16:13of weeks ahead of the trade deadline. If Taylor is traded, it is safe to assume that Seth McGowan would become the lead
16:20back for the Indianapolis Colts. He is the only other running back who has taken a snap in the backfield for the
16:26Colts this season. And this past week, we see something that resembles like a little bit of a trial run for Seth
16:34McGowan. He gets his strongest usage of the year, 34% of the snaps, 11 carries.
16:39Both of them are season highs, and he finds some level of success against a really, really tough Minnesota Vikings defense. Whether or not that was truly
16:48like a trial run, that is debatable, but there's no doubt that it's interesting that his usage is seeing an uptick as
16:56soon as there are rumblings for a Jonathan Taylor trade. Either way, you're stashing him just in case a trade happens. Again, not incredibly likely,
17:05but if he does get traded, McGowan will step up as the RB1 in this offense. Not an especially valuable role because it
17:13has been Taylor's individual elite talent level that has allowed him to overcome this disastrous offensive environment. We talked about it last
17:21week. Daniel Jones has just been straight-up horrific. This offense, the numbers, the efficiency numbers, not good whatsoever. So, not expecting high-level production out of Seth
17:31McGowan if he becomes the starter. But at the end of the day, volume is volume and he'd be in store for a pretty nice
17:37role the rest of the way if Taylor is no longer in the picture. Next up, we've got Bengals running back Samaje Perine.
17:43This was an interesting one to keep an eye on in week 17 because before their week six bye in week five, we see the
17:51Bengals deploy a 50/50 split between Perine and Chase Brown. Wanted to keep an eye on whether or not that holds. It
17:58did not in week 17. We see Brown play nearly 75% of the snaps. We see Perine in a much more limited role. Brown gets
18:07more than four times the opportunities than Perine does. But the one interesting thing is that Perine does get the punch-in score. The score from
18:16the one-yard line and it comes in a manner that kind of suggests that they want Perine to be the guy who picks up
18:23those fallen touchdowns, those scores from the one-yard line and the two-yard line. So, on that series, the series where Perine does score his touchdown,
18:32the touchdown was set up by a defensive pass interference that occurred in the end zone. That play came from the eight-yard line. Chase Brown was on the
18:41field for that play. He runs a route on a Joe Burrow dropback. Then the DPI happens. The ball gets spotted at the
18:47one. They sub on Perine for that play and he falls in for the touchdown. And that usage already kind of raises some
18:55red flags. Should have your mind churning a little bit about what this role looks like for Samaje Perine. And it's not really that shocking because a
19:03couple of weeks ago in the wake of the Dolphins game where Perine gets a ton of run, offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher
19:10talks about how they like Perine as the in-between the tackles runner, the guy who can pick up yards after contact and
19:16get downhill. If they view P-Ryan as that guy, it would be no surprise if the role as the one who punches the ball in
19:24from the one and the two, if that role remains sticky. So, knowing how strong this Bengals offense is, if he is the
19:31one who is stacking all those short-yardage touchdowns, you could use him as an emergency starter, but I also think in deeper leagues, he is just
19:39worth the stash because we have seen P-Ryan get meaningful rushing work in this offense. So, that leads me to believe if Chase Brown were to miss
19:47time, they would be comfortable giving P-Ryan a pretty meaningful workload. I mean, you're not going to turn a 31-year-old running back who has largely
19:55been a third-down specialist for the last couple years into a true bell cow, but receiving work and a lot of rushing
20:01work, I think would be coming P-Ryan's way if Chase Brown misses time. This is obviously one of the better offenses in
20:07the NFL. So, a really strong handcuff in my opinion. He deserves to be stashed in deeper leagues with the understanding that there could be some level of
20:15standalone value if he truly takes a stranglehold on those 1-yard and 2-yard touchdowns. So, we were just talking about P-Ryan as a potential emergency
20:24spot starter because he could have access to the short-yardage touchdowns.
20:28I view Dylan Sampson in a similar light, but for different reasons. Someone who can be an emergency starter in PPR leagues. So, this past week in week
20:37seven, we see the Browns operating with their true 1-2 punch at the running back position for the first time all year.
20:45Both Dylan Sampson and Quintez Cephus Judkins return from injury and they are deployed in a manner that falls in line with what we were expecting ahead of the
20:54year. Judkins is the primary ball carrier playing the vast majority of the early down snaps and then Sampson will mix in from time to time on those early
21:03downs and also take on the majority of the passing work. That is exactly what we see this past week. Samson plays 47%
21:11of the snaps, takes six of the 23 backfield carries, and runs a route on 39.5% of drop backs, turning that into
21:18three targets. He also shows some real juice. It does come with a caveat that this was against the Tennessee Titans. A
21:25lot of players are going to have strong outings against the Titans, but he does take nine touches and turns that into 77
21:31yards from scrimmage. We knew coming out of college that this guy had some pop.
21:35He can be a dynamic play maker, but the encouraging part is that he does seem to have a defined role in this offense.
21:41He's going to run a bunch of routes, can turn that into four or five targets in some spots. He is going to get some
21:47level of rushing work as well. So, in PPR leagues, knowing that he has that defined role in spots where the Browns
21:55project to trail in games, rack up plenty of drop backs, and therefore routes for Dylan Sampson, I think he can be an emergency spot starter in PPR
22:04leagues. Just hoping that he runs a bunch of routes, hauls in four or five balls, is dynamic with those opportunities, has some yardage to go
22:11along with it. It's a floor-driven play because of that receiving volume, but I still think, given the situation at the running back position, you're just
22:19looking for guys who have defined roles.
22:22Knowing we have like concrete expectations for what they're going to do week to week, I think Dylan Sampson falls into that category. If you don't
22:30need an emergency spot starter at running back, I don't think he's worth the pick up, but I know a lot of people,
22:36especially those in deeper leagues, are just looking for anything that they can find at the running back position. So, Dylan Sampson has inserted himself as
22:44someone who, in the right match up, with the right spot, can be started. Moving along here at the running back position,
22:50I just wanted to highlight two names that you should be keeping an eye on here in the coming days. That is Bam
22:56Knight, the Arizona Cardinals running back. With Jeremiah Love, outside line for each of the last two games, we have pretty surprisingly seen Bam Knight take
23:05on a meaningful role in this backfield.
23:07A lot of folks, myself included, assumed that if Love missed time, it would be the Tyler Allgeier show. That is not
23:13what we have gotten. We have seen Bam Knight actually soak up snaps and opportunities in this backfield. In Week 7, he plays over 50% of the snaps, seven
23:23carries to Allgeier's eight. He has five targets in this game, three receptions, and he takes Arizona's lone goal-line carry as well in this Week 7 matchup
23:32against the Denver Broncos. This is only one to keep an eye on because as soon as Jeremiah Love is back in the fold,
23:38Knight's value goes to zero, and the reporting coming out of Arizona, Mike LaFleur himself, said that he expects Love to be back at practice on
23:46Wednesday. Whether that's a full participant or a limited participant, remains to be seen. We'll have to file our waiver claims ahead of time. So, I
23:54would be relatively cheap if you're going to make a bid on Bam Knight, couple of dollars, because if Love is unable to go, you know you have a
24:02startable running back on your hands, and it is a really, really good spot against the Dallas Cowboys. We talked about that in reference to Jacoby
24:09Brissett. It'd be no shock whatsoever if the Cardinals' offense is rolling here against the Cowboys' defense. So, keep your expectations in check. Don't burn a
24:17bunch of FAB dollars on Knight because as soon as Love is good to go, and we have no idea whether or not he will be,
24:23his value basically goes to zero. It's a similar story for Elijah Mitchell. We see him this past week close out the
24:30game for the Philadelphia Eagles because this running back room is just destroyed, man. Will Shipley's on IR, Tank Bigsby is on IR, Saquon Barkley
24:39makes his return this past week, but he seems to tweak his hamstring, and he's also picked up a back issue. His
24:45participation in that game against the Cowboys was spotty. Damien Pierce also leaves in the later stages of the game with an undisclosed injury that we do
24:53not have an update on just yet. So, this is a mess. if both Pierce and Barkley are unable to go in week eight. Elijah
25:01Mitchell is probably going to be the spot starter. We'd probably also finally get JaMycal Hasty activated from the practice squad, but I'd expect Elijah
25:10Mitchell to lead the way. So, if you were in a really, really ugly spot at running back, spend a dollar, spend two
25:16dollars on Elijah Mitchell. A lot of uncertainty with the health of this backfield, so this could go a lot of different ways, but definitely a name to
25:24keep an eye on. All right, to wrap up the running back position, going to quickly move through the two arguably strongest handcuffs in fantasy football.
25:33I think that they deserve to be rostered, but even though both of these guys have provided fantasy managers with some level of optimism here in the last
25:41couple of weeks, I don't think either of them are necessarily startable. Raheem Blackshear, he does get some run in relief of Christian McCaffrey this past
25:48week. McCaffrey was sidelined for a portion of the game. He does pop for a 30-yard touchdown, but I'm just having trouble with him because we know he's
25:56going to get some rushing work week to week. I'm just concerned about the access to high-value touches. He's a zero in the receiving game. He doesn't
26:03really get work at the goal line. This past week, we see them try to give him a goal line touchdown, a fall-in
26:09touchdown. He doesn't capitalize. He has, I believe, three straight carries at the goal line. He can't punch it in.
26:14Then on fourth down, they bring in Christian McCaffrey to jump over the line and get into the end zone. So, not
26:20really expecting consistent goal line usage. And know that the receiving work really isn't going to be there for him.
26:25So, you're really asking him to get there on six, seven, eight, nine carries. Not the cleanest bet, but definitely at a minimum, one of the
26:33strongest handcuffs in fantasy football.
26:35It's a very similar story with Mike Washington Jr. We've seen him continue to close the gap alongside Ashton Jeanty in the rushing department, but he is
26:43also a zero through the air, and Ashton Jeanty has a stranglehold on the goal line opportunities. Jeanty has nine carries from inside the 5-yard line this
26:52year, Mike Washington only has one. So, it's once again a bet on rushing efficiency with pretty limited volume.
26:59If you want to tell yourself the story that he's coming for this backfield, he's going to take over for Ashton Jeanty, I mean, be my guest, but I just
27:06don't think that there is much standalone value for this guy when Ashton Jeanty is healthy. Still quite clearly one of the premier handcuffs in
27:14fantasy football because he has shown that he has pop, he has some level of juice, he deserves to be on rosters.
27:19>> Moving along to the wide receivers here, three quick names that if they are not already rostered in your league, please
27:25go pick them up. Casey Costeption, he's had strong volume numbers all year long.
27:30We finally see him put it all together in week seven, a top pick up if he's still available. Same story for Omar
27:36Cooper Jr. He was the top pick up on this show last week. He pops once again in week seven. He's rostered in 75% of
27:44leagues already, but if he's still out there, go get him. Jordan Tyson, another name as well. He is due to make his
27:50return from IR here in the next couple of weeks. Really, really talented player. The only concern has been his health. He is undoubtedly going to be in
27:57store for a really fun role in this New Orleans Saints offense. If he is available, go out and get him. But
28:03moving over to the wide receivers who are available in the majority of leagues, kicking things off with Caleb Douglas. He is not the top pick up in my
28:12opinion, but he is definitely worth a bench stash. The numbers for Caleb Douglas in terms of his volume haven't been great. You see just three targets
28:20this past week. But when evaluating rookies, you're often times just looking to see whether or not they're able to make an impact on the football field at
28:29the NFL level. That is undoubtedly what we have seen out of Caleb Douglas through three games of his NFL career.
28:36In week one, he goes for five and 94.
28:38This past week, he turns three targets into two receptions and 70 yards. He has just nine receptions on the year. Three
28:46of them have been gains of at least 20 yards, and we know that he is likely to hold a full-time role in this offense.
28:53He opens the year with an 81% route rate. He was eased back into the offense in week seven after he returned from an
29:00ankle injury. His route rate is just 67.9% but as he continues to ramp up as the season pushes forward, I would expect
29:08him to be a full-time player in this offense. The real question, and something that Nick and I actually went back and forth about earlier this
29:15summer, was just whether or not he can consolidate volume in this offense because he is quite clearly an exciting playmaker, but if he is going to have a
29:23level of a floor that makes him startable week to week because obviously he's not going to have 30, 40, 50-yard receptions week in and week out to have
29:31a startable floor. He's probably going to need to consolidate volume to a larger degree, but at this point, what he has done on the field definitely
29:40makes him worth a bench stash. If we see him continue to push forward in the volume department, put together 20, 25,
29:4720% target shares on a consistent basis.
29:51This is going to be a guy that you're probably going to view as a low-end flex option, someone that is definitely
29:56startable, and given the play making ability that he has displayed, you know that there is some level of a ceiling as
30:03well. Next up here, we've got three guys who I highlighted on this show last week. So, I am not going to rehash all
30:10of the same talking points. We'll talk through them quickly, but the situation hasn't really changed for either of these guys. Travis Hunter and Antonio
30:18Williams, both of them were on bye last week, so they don't get a lot of love on the waiver wire because they are heading
30:24into their bye week. And with them on bye, the situation hasn't changed whatsoever. Travis Hunter is such a straightforward situation. This is a
30:31pure bet on talent. This guy is so much fun to watch on the football field, whether he's playing wide receiver or
30:37playing defensive back. He is so shifty and so exciting to watch with the ball in his hands. There are just not that
30:44many guys who move quite like Travis Hunter. I was thinking to myself this past week when we were watching Luther Burden on Thursday night football, like
30:51who is the better yak receiver, who is more fun to watch operate in space, Travis Hunter or Luther Burden? But there's no doubt about it, Travis Hunter
30:58is in a class of his own, a very, very small group of wide receivers when it comes to his ball in hand ability. We
31:05just have to wait and see whether or not we get an uptick with his role in the offense in week six. He ran 16.7% of the
31:12routes. That was a season high for Hunter, but it's not nearly enough routes for him to be considered fantasy viable. We know that Brian Thomas Jr.'s
31:20name has been featured on the trading block. We know that Travis Hunter is proving that he probably deserves more snaps on the offensive side of the ball.
31:28Don't know if those snaps are coming, but if you're in a deeper league, you've got a bench spot to burn, I would roster
31:33Travis Hunter just to see if we're wrong about his offensive role and more routes do indeed come. Antonio Williams, again, talked about him last week, huge
31:42opportunity ahead of him. We know that Terry McLaurin is done for the year. It is time for Antonio Williams to step up.
31:48This past Monday, just a day ago, we saw Dan Quinn say that Stefon Digg's role is probably not going to grow in the
31:56absence of Terry McLaurin. At this point in his career, Stefon Diggs is a good receiver, he can help your offense, but
32:03he's not a featured player. He plays a very limited role, not going to run a full complement of routes. He can do
32:07some fun things, generate some separation in in the intermediate portions of the field, but he is not going to be a team's featured receiver
32:14at this stage in his career. Dan Quinn directly said that we are probably going to see more targets for Antonio Williams. We have seen this guy flash.
32:21We have seen this guy pop in the first handful of weeks of his NFL career, four for 64 and one in his NFL debut, week
32:28four. He has an 87-yard touchdown called off the board because of an illegal motion, an illegal formation penalty. In week six, we see him go for three
32:36receptions and 50 yards. He has shown some level of pop. Whether or not he can take advantage of this opportunity remains to be seen. I'm not going to sit
32:45here and pound the table and say Antonio Williams is obviously going to turn into this team's wide receiver one and become
32:53a fantasy stud. I'm not sure. I don't know if he's talented enough to do just that, but we have seen some flashes and
33:00there's no doubt that the red carpet is being rolled out for Antonio Williams to become one of the go-to guys, the
33:06featured players in this offense. We have already seen it in terms of the usage in week six. When Teryll McClain left the game early, Williams led all
33:14wide receivers in Washington in routes.
33:16The routes will be there. Wouldn't be surprised if he continues to get plays that are schemed up for him, first read
33:22targets, maybe some design targets here and there. Huge opportunity for Antonio Williams. He definitely deserves to be rostered in more than 19% of leagues.
33:30He's a dynamic playmaker in offense that has shown that it can sustain drives.
33:34I'm a little skeptical of them holding up over the course of the full season, but this is like the classic opportunity
33:40for a second half rookie breakout. A guy who has shown some promise and there's a huge opportunity in front of them. It's
33:47a similar story with Jacquoby Lane. We have not gotten a fair shake on Jacquoby Lane just yet. He has played 10 quarters
33:54to open his NFL career. Only two of them have come alongside Lamar Jackson. He gets injured in week one just before
34:01halftime. He goes on IR with a wrist injury. And now Lamar has been dealing with an injury of his own. He is on his
34:08way back from an ankle issue. So, there's not much in terms of like the numbers or what we have seen on the
34:13field to get excited about for Jacquoby Lane. We know that he is probably going to be playing a full-time role or
34:20something very close to it in this offense because in week one, before he leaves with the wrist injury in that first half, he runs 71% of the routes.
34:29This past week in his second game back from that injury. He runs 65% of the routes. So, there going to be
34:35opportunities for Tylan Wallace and we also know with Lamar Jackson healthy, this Ravens offense has been among the most efficient and explosive in the NFL.
34:44And we're coming off an off-season where the drumbeat on Tylan Wallace was non-stop. He had one of the biggest hype campaigns that I can remember in the
34:52last few years. Let's just see what this guy has to offer once the offense is at full strength and he is finally put in a
35:00true position to succeed. We'll see, but there is obviously all the pieces there to tell yourself the story of this guy
35:07having a breakout year once Lamar Jackson is back in action. All right, we've been talking about a lot of young stashes to make at the wide receiver
35:15position, but if you need a plug-and-play type of guy in your flex spot, maybe your wide receiver three slot, look to Ryan Flournoy. He is at
35:2225% rostered, but if you need that fill-in type of guy, he is one of the prime candidates. He is quite clearly a
35:30second-tier player when it comes to the pecking order in the Cowboys passing attack, but it really doesn't matter because the Cowboys just pass the ball
35:39so damn much. Dak Prescott is averaging 39 pass attempts per game. The Cowboys rank third in overall pass rate. They are dropping back to pass so often that
35:48even if he is third in the pecking order, he's seeing volume. He has seen at least four targets in every single
35:55game this season. He's gotten up to eight plus targets twice. And looking to the upcoming schedule, these are a series of spots where the Cowboys are
36:02either going to probably have pretty immense success against terrible defenses or be put in a position to get into a shootout where more pass volume
36:10obviously equals more opportunities for Ryan Flournoy. So, the Cardinals and the Colts, the next two matchups for the Cowboys, two of the worst defenses in
36:19the NFL. Neither of them have had much success stopping opposing offenses. Then in week 10, they get the San Francisco 49ers. That game has shootout written
36:28all over it. You know that the floor can be pretty volatile for Ryan Flournoy. If we get the CeeDee Lamb show or the
36:35George Pickens show or combination of both, he can become a real afterthought in this offense. Again, four targets is a fine floor, but we have seen him
36:45disappear in certain spots over the course of the season to this point. But knowing the matchups, knowing what the upcoming schedule looks like, I think
36:52Flournoy will be a fine like filling flex play for the next three weeks or so. One more rookie stash to close
36:59things out, Ihmir Smith-Marsette. All it took were injuries to Dontayvion Wicks, DeVonta Smith, Johnny Wilson, Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown trade and a
37:10matchup against one of the easiest defenses in the NFL, but he's here, guys. He's here. He runs a full complement of routes this past
37:18week against the Dallas Cowboys. 92% route rate. He draws a 25% target share against Dallas, good for eight targets, turned that into seven receptions for 67
37:27yards and a touchdown. This guy has a first-round pedigree. There's uncertainty about the health of DeVonta Smith. This has been a nagging and
37:35lingering hamstring [snorts] issue.
37:37Dontayvion Wicks, while he's definitely an entrenched starting receiver in this offense, he's not a massive hurdle for Ihmir Smith-Marsette to clear the rest
37:46of the way. So the opportunity is ahead of him. He finally shows some flashes.
37:51He definitely deserves to be rostered and with a matchup against the exploitable Commanders defense coming up in week eight, I think he could be
37:59viewed as a starting caliber wide receiver, a flex option, assuming DeVonta Smith doesn't play and if Dontayvion Wicks is unable to go as
38:07well, that makes his outlook, his path much more clean. Moving over to the tight ends, three quick names that should be rostered if you need a tight
38:14end streamer. We won't be talking about them in depth because they are all over 50% rostered on Sleeper, but it's Brent
38:20Strange. He's seen consistent volume as of late and he's now facing the Indianapolis Colts, a very exploitable matchup. Hunter Henry, again, he steps
38:29up in the absence of guys like Romeo Doubs and Mack Hollins. He is now one of the clear-cut complimentary pass catchers in an offense that has been
38:38rolling as of late. Same story for T.J.
38:41Hockenson. He continues to see consistent volume. Hasn't been pretty.
38:44There have been some highs and lows, but we know that the target ceiling is pretty high and he has a really strong
38:50matchup in each of the next two weeks against the Lions and the Buffalo Bills, two defenses that have not been good and
38:57offenses that can put this into a back-and-forth type of matchup. But looking at the actual waiver wire pickups here, there are two names in my
39:04opinion that stand above the rest. We were talking about the opportunity for Antonio Williams with Terry McLaurin out of the picture, but the other guy that
39:12it most clearly benefits is Chig Okonkwo. With Terry McLaurin leaving the game early in week six, we see him run a
39:20full complement of routes. He looks like he is Jayden Daniels' go-to guy in the short and intermediate portions of the field. He racks up seven targets. He has
39:28seven receptions for 76 yards. So it looks like the routes and the access to volume are quite clearly going to be
39:35there. And maybe I'm outside of the consensus, but I think that Okonkwo is like legitimately a good playmaker. Over the last three seasons, he ranks 10th
39:45among all tight ends in yards after the catch per reception. He's averaging just over five YAC per reception over those last three seasons. I think he can do
39:54some fun things with the ball in his hands. So in my opinion, it's a little bit more than just a pure volume play,
40:01but obviously, the access to volume is quite obvious. If he can become Jayden Daniels' safety blanket, the guy that he checks the ball down to, gets five, six,
40:11seven targets per game, he is going to be a fringe tight end one depending on the matchup, but most weeks, if you're
40:17getting six, seven targets in any given game, you're going to be a startable tight end at a minimum. Terrance Ferguson is more of the stash variety.
40:25We have a lot of uncertainty surrounding his health. They say that he probably isn't going to return this upcoming week, which is the first week that he is
40:33eligible to return from IR. We don't really know what the actual timeline looks like. Hopefully, we get some clarity on it this upcoming week, but we
40:42really don't know when he's going to be set to take the field. As soon as he does, though, he is, in my opinion,
40:47quite clearly the number two pass catcher in this offense behind Puka Nacua. Davante Adams is out for the long term with that hamstring injury. Canady
40:56Mumphield is a zero. We see Colby Parkinson get banged up in this past game. Tyler Higbee has proven to be pretty hit or miss. This guy is an
41:04athletic freak. I have talked about it all year long. I talked about it in the preseason with Nick. This guy is like a
41:10special talent. He's not even a real tight end. He's just a huge, 6'5 athletic monster, matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. We have seen glimpses
41:20of Sean McVay and this offense wanting to heavily feature Terrance Ferguson.
41:25Things looked awesome in week two against the Giants. It was trending in the right direction in week three before he gets hurt with that ankle injury. As
41:33soon as he is back on the field, I think that he is going to claim the number two pass catching spot in this offense. Just
41:40the target competition is so, so limited behind Puka Nacua. Again, he's nothing more than a stash. If you have your IR
41:47slot open and you need a starting tight end, Ferguson should definitely be one of the names that you have your eye on
41:52because if things break in the right way for Ferguson, it's going to be really, really exciting, in my opinion. This is
41:58a unique talent in an offense that we like to bet on and an offense that has plenty of opportunity available. All
42:04right, moving on to the drafts. We will move through these pretty quickly.
42:08Starting at the running back position, Tyler Allgeier, he is no longer a priority handcuff in my opinion. We have seen it play out each of the last 2
42:15weeks even when Jerick McKinnon love is out of the lineup. He is not going to be a featured back. That just about
42:22destroys his value. The entire thesis was that he could have some level of standalone value alongside Jerick McKinnon love, but if love misses any
42:30time, he becomes the bell cow. That has not been the case. So, I think if you're in a roster crunch, you can drop Tyler
42:35Allgeier. Kendre Miller, his time as a featured player in this offense is coming to an end. We haven't heard much about Travis Etienne's hamstring injury,
42:44but he is due to return sometime soon.
42:47But, we've seen Kendre Miller's role decline here with Alvin Kamara getting healthier. Miller's efficiency and effectiveness has never been good this
42:54season. He's just droppable. The Saints ground game is totally defunct. They are definitely excited to get Etienne Etienne back in the fold. Roschon
43:02Johnson, next up on the list here. He is now droppable. Khalil Shakir set to return here in the next couple of weeks.
43:09But, this past week we saw him take a backseat to De'Andre Swift. The role was not where you would like it to be. We
43:15had talked about that a little bit on the waiver wire show this past week.
43:19Eight of his 13 carries in that week six performance did come in the first quarter in the fourth quarter. So, the
43:25role was a little bit more fragile than the box score would tell you. We see that fragility show up in week seven.
43:31But, with Khalil Shakir set to return sometime in the short-term future, I will be comfortable cutting Roschon Johnson just knowing how volatile his
43:39role can be even without Khalil Shakir in the picture. Finally, MarShawn Lloyd, he still does get some run with Josh Jacobs back in action for his first
43:48game. But, now with Jacobs back, we know he's going to start to take a larger and larger backseat. Lloyd individually has
43:54not been efficient or effective with his opportunities this year. He is just straight up not that good in my opinion.
44:00So, no real reason to be holding on to him. Even if Jacobs does miss time, we're probably going to see a committee
44:05again. We know that we can't really bank on Lloyd to be efficient. Just not that big of a reason to hold on to him
44:11anymore. Kanat Mumfield here, he's just not very good. That's the reality of the situation. He He was an interesting pick up this past week because Davante Adams
44:19was out and Puka Nacua was a toss-up to play, but he's not going to earn targets in this offense even if the role is
44:24solid. It's the same story for Darius Cooper. He runs a bunch of routes this past week, but he has never proven to be
44:30a consistent target earner. He's just a flash in the pan, a guy who generated a couple of big plays, some explosive
44:36plays, and touchdowns. He He's not worth a roster spot at this point. The one that does stand out to me that could be
44:42a viable drop in some more shallow leagues is unfortunately Jordan Addison.
44:47He has not played a very strong role this season. The only time he has eclipsed double-digit fantasy points have been a game that Justin Jefferson
44:54missed, but other than that, he has taken a clear backseat to both Jefferson as well as Hockenson in some spots, and
45:01this offense just isn't really conducive to fantasy success through the air.
45:05They're leaning on the defense. They rank 31st in the league in overall pass rate. They're not running that many plays per game. Volume is low from an
45:13overall play perspective, and Addison's target earning numbers have not been very strong whatsoever this year. So, if you're in a 10-team league, if you're in
45:20a 12-team league with a really shallow bench, and you find yourself in a roster crunch, I would be comfortable cutting Jordan Addison. You are definitely
45:27cutting both of the 49ers' uh fringe veteran wide receivers that you picked up last week with all those other guys banged up, Brandon Cooks and Christian
45:36Kirk. The 49ers are now heading into their bye. I would be pretty surprised if Mike Evans isn't good to go for Week
45:429, so opportunities are dwindling for those guys, and they did not capitalize on those opportunities either. Keon Coleman is the last name that we will
45:50highlight here. He has been someone that I have highlighted as a waiver wire pick up in these last couple of weeks because
45:57DJ Moore has been dealing with injuries, but now knowing that DJ Moore is likely to be back in the fold after the week
46:02seven bye. The target earning numbers alongside Moore for Keon Coleman have not been very strong. So, I would have a tough time getting him into my lineup in
46:10the short-term future. So, I just don't really think he is worth a roster spot anymore. Finally, closing things out at tight end, there are two very obvious
46:18names that stand out in my opinion. Kony Ealy is a deep. It's really unfortunate.
46:22It's brutal because we talked about him in a very favorable light after that week three breakout, but the Jets just don't want to play this guy. Whatever
46:30you think the reasoning and the rationale is, he's not running enough routes. He is running considerably fewer routes than Mason Taylor over the last
46:36two games. His role is just not fantasy viable at this point. I would like to leave the light on for Kony Ealy because
46:44his traits are so tantalizing and I think he is talented. I think he has the juice, but the role is just not strong
46:50enough to justify a roster spot in your typical league at this point. And then I think Jake Ferguson, he needs to be
46:55dropped. He is seeding routes to Brevin Spain forward in this game. He is not even really the Cowboys starting tight end at this point. We knew he was always
47:04a routes and volume driven play, but without a full grasp on those routes at this point in the year, you you they're
47:10just nothing. There's nothing there for him. He he's not going to get the volume. He's not seeing the routes. We know he is not going to be a legitimate
47:16difference maker in this offense. He deserves to be cut basically regardless of format or league size. He is going to be a low-end tight end two for the
47:26foreseeable future unless things change with his deployment in this offense. All right, guys. That is going to do it for me here today. I hope you all enjoyed.
47:34If you stuck around to the end of the video, I'll leave you with one message.
47:38Please, go out and pick up a young or a rookie wide receiver. Stash them on your bench. See if that late season breakout
47:44happens.
47:45You will be very thankful that you did if you managed to pick up the right one.
47:50But again, that'll be it for me here today.
47:52I will see you all next time.
