The source uses Alvin Kamara as a benchmark for elite pass-catching running back production, questioning whether Chase Brown has the ceiling to reach that level of output.

Chase Brown

PositiveUsage0:00

The source notes that Chase Brown established a strong role in the passing game last year with 4.1 receptions per game, which is a key indicator for a potential breakout season. While the source is skeptical of a massive jump in production—questioning if he has the ceiling to reach elite pass-catching benchmarks like peak Alvin Kamara or Christian McCaffrey—they acknowledge that the team is happy with his role and may even look to increase his involvement, providing a solid floor for his fantasy value. His outlook is further supported by playing in a fairly efficient offense led by Joe Burrow, though he must compete for targets in a concentrated offense that features Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

0:00But, Chase Brown had 4.1 receptions per
0:02game last year, which is
0:04really good. Like, that's great. So,
0:06that's a reason that, you know, he's a
0:08he's going where he goes. But, like,
0:10what is he going to have? Five? He's
0:11going to have five and a half? Like, is
0:13he is he peak Kamara? Is he peak CMC?
0:17No, you know? So, that's where I just
0:19like I'm glad they're throwing to him,
0:21but like
0:22>> Yeah, I think
0:23>> Chase They have Ja'Marr Chase and Tee
0:24Higgins. Like, what
0:25>> Right.
0:26>> I think it's just more I think it's just
0:28more a product of the of the offensive
0:31environment that he's in and him being
0:34like
0:35I'd say a
0:36slightly above average
0:38starting NFL running back and and and he
0:41brings that the the pass protection that
0:44like they're good with that level. Also,
0:47he is like he
0:49he's got some juice, so
0:52getting him involved in the passing
0:53game, they don't have a lot of other
0:55offensive weapons besides Ja'Marr Chase
0:57and Tee Higgins and Chase Brown that
1:00they really utilize. Like, they got a
1:03bunch of different tight ends, but
1:04they're not like
1:05super involving them unless like Tee
1:07Higgins
1:08is is out there. There's no real third
1:11wide receiver. So, this is really one of
1:14the more concentrated offense, kind of
1:15kind of like the Rams are, right? Where
1:17it's the two receivers and it's
1:19whoever's back there running back, but
1:20it's, you know, Chase Brown probably
1:23taking even more this year than than
1:25than he has traditionally. And if if the
1:28offense or if the defense is not great,
1:31then, you know, we get a we get a bunch
1:33of plays every game from them, like
1:35fairly efficient offense just because
1:37Burrow is that good. Also, this
1:39offensive line
1:40really is better than people
1:43think it is cuz you hear Bengals
1:45offensive line and you just kind of like
1:46picture what's been out there, you know,
1:482 3 years ago. But, we saw this O-line
1:52really gel kind of in the second half of
1:54last season. And and they're, you know,
1:57this is this is going to be a
1:58a much better line than what people kind
2:01of picture from 2 years ago.
2:04>> Yeah, and at the very least it's nice to
2:06hear they're throwing to him to lock in
2:08you know a role that was really nice
2:10last year. Like we want part of the the
2:13framework that I talk about for
2:14identifying these guys who can have
2:15these legendary seasons is a path to
2:17four plus receptions per game. And like
2:19Chase Brown doesn't have a path, he just
2:22did it. Like he
2:24he doesn't you know it's not a path.
2:25Like he really it's a it's an
2:27established thing he did. And so he just
2:29has to do that again and they're talking
2:31about like if anything they want to
2:33throw to him more. So that is good. Like
2:35that is definitely definitely good. I've
2:37just been a little bit
2:38there's been a lot of kind of steam on
2:40him
2:41um around this pass catching stuff that
2:44I I'm like kind of skeptical of him
2:46having like a big jump, but it at least
2:50shows you that they were happy with with
2:51the role he had last year, which was
2:52very good in the passing game.
