A.J. Brown

NegativeValue0:14

Analyst wishes AJ Brown was cheaper and thinks he should be a third round pick, not a second round pick.

Insight page
NegativeValue0:14

A.J. Brown should be a third round pick, not a second round pick, as his current ADP is too expensive.

Insight page

Ameer Abdullah

PositiveDepth Chart0:40

Ameer Abdullah is still in Jacksonville's running back room alongside Basil Tuton, Chris Rodriguez, and Laquon Allen.

Insight page

Amon-Ra St. Brown

PositiveValue0:23

Amon-Ra St. Brown (Ameka Egbuka reference context) is being ranked higher than Tee Higgins in some drafts.

Insight page

Bijan Robinson

PositiveProjection6:56

Bijan Robinson was selected second overall in the draft.

Insight page

Brandon Aiyuk

NegativeRole0:22

The Aiyuk contract situation with Washington is falling apart and completely done.

Insight page

Breece Hall

PositiveValue0:32

Breece Hall was passed on in the third round due to the Josh Allen quarterback pick, representing opportunity cost.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

PositiveSleeper0:40

Brian Thomas Jr. is viewed as an excellent fit for best ball format in his deep threat role, with upside even if he doesn't recapture 2024 form, making him a strong fourth receiver option.

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

PositiveProjection0:11

C.J. Stroud is a little bit underrated now, ranking as a top 10 quarterback by EPA per play last year, though his playoff performance was poor.

Insight page

Cam Skattebo

PositiveValue0:27

Cam Skattebo is a better fourth round pick than David Montgomery.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:27

Speaker would take Cam Skattebo ahead of David Montgomery in draft rankings.

Insight page
PositiveInjury0:31

Cam Skattebo has current injury questions, unlike David Montgomery, which is a consideration when comparing the two backs.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveValue0:13

Chase Brown in the middle of the second round is a good pick and someone the analyst would have considered at 2.9 if he had made it there.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:13

Analyst thinks Chase Brown could be a good pick in the second round and would have considered him at 2.9 if available.

Insight page

Chris Olave

PositiveValue0:16

Analyst thinks Chris Olave is really good at the top of the third round.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:23

Chris Olave is being ranked higher than Tee Higgins in some drafts as one of the more exciting names.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

NegativeRole0:39

Chris Rodriguez is not viewed as an exciting option in Jacksonville's running back room, with the analyst expressing lack of enthusiasm about his fantasy prospects.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:39

Chris Rodriguez is not an exciting option in Jacksonville's running back room.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

NegativeProjection0:04

Analyst expresses concern about his workload, age, and the overall fragility of the San Francisco offense, preferring Puka Nacua ahead of him.

Insight page
NegativeProjection7:30

James Co expresses concern about Christian McCaffrey's workload, age, and the overall fragility of the San Francisco offense, preferring Puka Nacua ahead of him.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveProjection0:37

Christian Watson has a similar profile to Parker Washington but is more confident to stay healthy and be on the field for all snaps, making him a better option than Washington.

Insight page

Courtland Sutton

NegativeValue0:15

Analyst expresses concern about having Courtland Sutton as a third receiver, indicating he's too volatile for that role.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

NegativeBust0:38

DJ Moore is one of the players in this draft that the analyst doesn't have a great feeling for.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveValue0:27

De'Andre Swift is a better fourth round pick than David Montgomery.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:27

Speaker would take De'Andre Swift ahead of David Montgomery in draft rankings.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:30

De'Andre Swift was not preferred by the drafter in the fourth round, with concerns about injury risk compared to David Montgomery.

Insight page
NegativeInjury0:31

De'Andre Swift has current injury questions that make him less attractive than Cam Skatabo as a bell cow back option.

Insight page

Davante Adams

PositiveValue0:33

Davante Adams is preferred over David Montgomery in best ball due to higher upside.

Insight page

David Montgomery

NegativeRole0:26

David Montgomery will not produce in Houston; it's a bad landing spot with one of the worst offensive lines, his explosiveness is gone, and this will be one of the worst signings of the offseason.

Insight page
NegativeValue0:26

Speaker would not have taken Montgomery in the fourth round, viewing him as more of a fifth-round pick at best, with no strong conviction either way.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:33

David Montgomery's ceiling in best ball is only a top-15 back, making him unattractive compared to higher upside wide receivers like Terry McLaurin and Davante Adams.

Insight page
NegativeValue0:33

The analyst would take Terry McLaurin and Davante Adams ahead of David Montgomery even in his ceiling case scenario.

Insight page

De'Von Achane

NegativeRole0:10

Good running backs in bad offenses tend not to do well, and there's a whole new offensive game plan in Miami where Achane likely doesn't fit in the new scheme.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

PositiveValue0:08

Analyst is bullish on Henry despite concerns about age, noting his yards before contact declined but yards after contact increased, no visual signs of decline, minimal backfield competition, and good fit in new offense. Drafted at 21st overall in a hero RB build.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:09

His yards after contact actually went up slightly from 3.5 to 3.59, showing no visual signs of decline. He has no significant competition in the backfield and fits well in the new offense with ADP dropping.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:09

At 21st overall in a hero running back build, Henry makes complete sense as a potential running back one at that draft spot with declining ADP.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:14

Derrick Henry was selected in round two of the draft.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

PositiveProjection0:16

Analyst is happy to get DeVonta Smith in the third round and thinks he's a better player than Zay Flowers, positioning him as a prime candidate for a great breakout season with AJ Brown gone.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:17

Analyst believes Devonta Smith is a really good candidate to have a huge breakout season.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:23

DeVonta Smith is being ranked higher than Tee Higgins in some drafts, representing one of the more exciting names getting selected ahead of Higgins.

Insight page

Dontayvion Wicks

PositiveRole0:22

The Ravens are talking up Dontayvion Wicks Walker as potentially taking a step forward in the offseason.

Insight page

Drake London

PositiveValue0:12

Drake London was expected to drop further in the draft but was snatched up a couple picks before the drafter could select him.

Insight page

Emeka Egbuka

PositiveValue0:14

Analyst loves Emeka Egbuka this year but thinks 16th overall is very aggressive for him; notes he's popular in high stakes leagues and best ball formats but unlikely to go in second round in traditional redraft leagues.

Insight page
NegativeValue0:14

Emeka Egbuka at 16th overall is very aggressive and too early, though the analyst does like him overall.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

PositiveProjection0:18

Garrett Wilson is described as an incredible target getter who was quietly awesome last year before getting hurt, but faces uncertainty with Frank Reich as coach and Geno Smith as quarterback, though Smith could be the most aggressive QB he's played with.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:18

Analyst describes Garrett Wilson as an incredible target getter who was quietly awesome last year before getting hurt, and notes he was well-deployed under passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:19

Player comparisons show Garrett Wilson should be a stud (comparable to Ja'Marr Chase, Antonio Brown with Steelers, Stefon Diggs with Vikings, DeAndre Hopkins), and at 3.8 in the third round, the risk-reward makes him worth considering despite volatility.

Insight page

George Holani

PositiveSleeper0:42

George Holani is identified as a sneaky favorite option in Seattle's backfield, with the analyst expressing particular interest in him.

Insight page

George Pickens

PositiveValue0:16

Analyst thinks Pickens is fine at the top of the third round.

Insight page

J.K. Dobbins

PositiveProjection50:18

J.K. Dobbins was mentioned as being selected second overall in the draft (referred to as 'Gibbs' in the transcript, but context indicates this is the first round discussion).

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

PositiveProjection6:56

Ja'Marr Chase was selected third overall in the draft, indicating he was among the first three picks taken.

Insight page

Jahan Dotson

PositiveSleeper5:56

Matt Harmon selected Jahan Dotson in the 20th round, describing it as the sneakiest pick of the draft and noting it was a choice between Dotson and Bateman.

Insight page

Jahmyr Gibbs

PositiveProjection6:56

Jahmyr Gibbs was selected first overall in the draft.

Insight page

Jalen Brooks

PositiveValue5:14

Matt Harmon took Jalen Brooks at pick 93 overall, noting his ADP has risen to around 100th overall and describing him as a sneaky good pick in a good rushing ecosystem.

Insight page

Jalin Hyatt

PositiveProjection0:05

Generally ranked ahead of Puka Nacua, but analyst notes regression indicators in his profile including running extremely hot on deep passes and having the highest team target share (35.8%) for any wide receiver since 2015.

Insight page

Javonte Williams

PositiveValue0:24

Javonte Williams feels like a boring pick but is pretty reliable overall in the fourth round.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

PositiveProjection0:38

If Jayden Daniels stays healthy, he will be an awesome pick this year; the analyst really likes him in the 60s in both best ball and redraft formats.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveValue0:25

Jaylen Waddle is valued ahead of consensus at receiver 12, with redraft ADP around wide receiver 21; he should be targeted in the early fourth or late third round in best ball formats.

Insight page

Jordyn Tyson

NegativeBust0:38

Jordan Tyson is taken too aggressively in round five of this draft.

Insight page

Josh Allen

PositiveValue0:31

Josh Allen at 30th overall is a good pick with a gap between him and the next quarterback, though the analyst notes opportunity cost concerns given depth at the position.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

NegativeRole0:26

Josh Jacobs is the weakest pick in this section due to having a lot of things going on.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:30

Josh Jacobs has a lot going on and was not preferred in the fourth round, with the drafter avoiding him in favor of David Montgomery.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:31

Josh Jacobs has a lot going on that makes him less attractive as a bell cow back option.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveValue0:07

Analyst considers him one of his favorite second round picks in redraft, though acknowledges the 2.1 pick in best ball is a bit early. Notes concerns about the Titans offense but still views Walker as a fine pick.

Insight page

Khalil Herbert

PositiveRole0:31

Khalil Herbert is better than Woody Marks and will clearly be more involved in the committee.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:31

Khalil Herbert is better than Woody Marks and will clearly be more involved in the committee, making him a more attractive option.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

PositiveValue0:32

Kyren Williams was passed on in the third round due to the Josh Allen quarterback pick, representing opportunity cost.

Insight page

Ladd McConkey

PositiveProjection0:18

Analyst has talked a lot about Ladd McConkey and if chasing straight upside, would probably take him after Garrett Wilson but before Zay Flowers in the third round.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:18

Analysts have discussed McConkey extensively as a player with significant upside, preferred over Zay Flowers when chasing pure upside in the third round.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:21

Ladd McConkey is believed to have a ceiling that includes wide receiver one overall potential, similar to JSN's range of outcomes.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:23

Ladd McConkey is being ranked higher than Tee Higgins in some drafts.

Insight page

Luther Burden

NegativeValue0:27

Speaker doesn't like Luther Burden at 4.5 ADP, preferring the cheaper Romeo Doubs instead, though understands the pick based on Burden's end-of-season finish and yards per route run.

Insight page
NegativeValue0:28

Burden should be going slightly lower in ADP, with Odunze and Burden ideally going back-to-back rather than Burden in the fourth round.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:28

Burden's skill set allows him to get more layup targets that keep him out of danger from Caleb Williams' inaccuracy, making him valuable if you don't believe in Williams' improvement.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

NegativeInjury0:24

Malik Nabers should not be drafted in the fourth round due to injury concerns; there has been zero positive news about his health status and he may start the season on the PUP list.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

PositiveValue0:40

Marvin Harrison Jr. was obtained at 69th overall pick, representing really good value in best ball format as a fourth receiver option.

Insight page

Nico Collins

PositiveValue0:10

In the late second round, Nico Collins represents really good value. He's second in the NFL in yards per route run over the last 3 years since C.J. Stroud entered the league.

Insight page
PositiveUsage0:12

Last year with two plus tight ends on the field, Nico Collins had a 36% target share per route, compared to 24% with zero to one tight ends, and more two tight end sets are expected after Houston drafted Marlon Mack.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:12

Nico Collins could be a sneaky wide receiver one overall candidate this year, potentially becoming this year's Jackson Smith-Njigba type, especially with more two tight end sets expected in Houston.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:13

The analyst would straight up take Nico Collins ahead of Drake London this year, preferring him over Drake at the same draft spot.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:13

Analyst would straight up take Nico Collins ahead of Drake London this year and would have been okay if Nico made it to him over Drake.

Insight page

Parker Washington

NegativeValue0:15

Analyst expresses concern about having Parker Washington as a second receiver, indicating he's too volatile for that role.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:37

Parker Washington is a volatile wide receiver with high ceiling but boom-bust profile; he's too risky as a WR2 in best ball format despite similar profile to Christian Watson.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

PositiveProjection0:04

Matt Harmon selected Puka Nacua fourth overall in his best ball draft, indicating confidence in his ranking ahead of other elite options at that draft position.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:04

Ranked fourth overall in best ball draft ahead of Christian McCaffrey and Jalin Hyatt. Analyst prefers Puka over JSN due to having his offensive coordinator back with Sean McVay, and his consistent elite yards per route run (second and fourth on the list since 2015).

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:14

Puka Nacua was selected in round one of the draft.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeValue0:13

Rashee Rice in the second round is too expensive and represents one of the worst picks in the draft, with the chat and analysts agreeing it's way too rich.

Insight page

Rashod Bateman

PositiveRole0:22

Rashod Bateman is still with the Ravens and the team has been happy with their young receivers in the offseason.

Insight page

Rome Odunze

PositiveValue0:28

Speaker is very much into Rome Odunze and willing to take injury risk, believing Odunze should be going higher in drafts than Luther Burden.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:29

If you believe Caleb Williams will take a step forward, you should be into Rome Odunze, as his role benefits more from improved QB play.

Insight page
PositiveProjection8:28

Rome Odunze (JSN) was mentioned as having put together an incredible season last year and being generally ranked slightly below Puka Nacua.

Insight page

Romeo Doubs

PositiveValue0:27

Speaker prefers Romeo Doubs over Luther Burden due to his cheaper ADP, and will consistently target Doubs as the better value play.

Insight page

Stefon Diggs

PositiveMatchup0:22

Analyst believes Stefon Diggs is probably the favorite to sign with Washington due to the Aiyuk situation falling apart, though there's uncertainty about whether Diggs will sign at all given he has a lot going on.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:22

Diggs likely won't get signed either due to having a lot of things going on.

Insight page

Tee Higgins

PositiveValue0:23

Tee Higgins is a great pick at 4.1 overall, getting passed up for more exciting names despite being one of the best receivers in the NFL when on the field with Joe Burrow.

Insight page

Terry McLaurin

PositiveValue0:24

Terry McLaurin at 45th overall is a really good value pick and the last guy in his tier, with potential to be a wide receiver one in his own right.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:29

Terry McLaurin is a really nice stable pick that anchors the wide receiver room with consistent production.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:33

Terry McLaurin is preferred over David Montgomery in best ball due to higher upside.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup0:38

Terry McLaurin was desired as a stack with Jayden Daniels in round six, indicating confidence in the pairing.

Insight page

Tony Pollard

PositiveProjection0:41

Tony Pollard at the end of the sixth round is noted as an interesting pick in best ball format.

Insight page

Trayvon Henderson

NegativeValue0:34

The analyst was not going to take Trayvon Henderson in the fifth round.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:35

Running back charting showed inconsistent performance last year; he needs to improve consistency to become a productive fantasy asset, as his team didn't play him during their Super Bowl run due to missed reads and tackles in the backfield.

Insight page

Woody Marks

NegativeRole0:31

Woody Marks is less likely to be involved in the committee compared to Khalil Herbert.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

PositiveProjection0:16

Analyst really likes Zay Flowers and thinks his upside is higher than given credit; projects he could become more of a red zone threat and have an eight to nine touchdown season if he takes a step forward against press coverage.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:18

Analyst struggles to find a path for Zay Flowers to reach double-digit touchdowns or 1,300 yards, citing low volume passing attack and added red zone competition from Jacobi Lane and Elijah Serrant.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:20

Co-analyst is more open to Zay Flowers as a 1,300 yard and 8-9 touchdown player, which would be better than his WR6/WR7 finish last season, though wide receiver one overall is probably not within his range of outcomes.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:23

Zay Flowers is being ranked higher than Tee Higgins in some drafts as one of the more exciting names.

0:02What is cracking everybody? James Co, Matt Harmon here with you. We are doing some best ball live draft content. Not really a live draft, but our guy Matt
0:10Harmon did draft and we're going to be analyzing >> [laughter] >> his draft. Matt, how you doing today, pal?
0:17>> I'm doing good. Uh very happy to be partnered with DraftKings on this one.
0:21Reviewing our our draft that I did last night and I got to say it was fun. Number one, of course, it's
0:29always fun to draft. That's why best ball is great cuz you get to draft and then you don't have to think about this
0:33team ever ever again. And I will say some mixed emotions and mixed feelings coming off of this team. You know, it's
0:41this is like the time of the year, James, when you're finally you know, kind of starting to really put your rankings together, kind
0:49of test your theories and everything.
0:51You know, we've been talking for months and months about football, about certain things, especially with wide receivers, specifically at reception perception.
0:59And then now you get to kind of put those theories into action and I don't know, man. You know, you you
1:04really start to test what how you really feel about things, where tiers drop off and yeah, I'm deep in the draft streets.
1:12I'm deep in the rankings street right now. So, it feels like the season is fast fast approaching.
1:18>> I love it. I absolutely love it. Let's get right into it.
1:22Basically, this was a draft that our guy Matt Harmon put together yesterday. We wanted to do live drafting. We tried this last time, guys.
1:31We found out that there's no draft to do a live draft.
1:34>> We'll get we'll get there, maybe.
1:35>> Yeah, we'll get there. It's all good.
1:36It's all good. So, as you can >> I can I can promise we will maybe do a draft live >> Live maybe once.
1:42>> before kickoff. Maybe before week one kicks off. I can I can promise that. But yeah, I went ahead and did this draft
1:49yesterday. I'll first just pull up my team here before we go kind of round by round and talk about where I really
1:55hated myself, you know, the most with some of these picks, but this is what the team ends up looking like here. I've got two
2:02quarterbacks. I've got five running backs. I've got eight receivers and three tight ends.
2:08I've typically found myself and remember obviously with DraftKings, it's full point PPR. There's three starting receiver spots in a flex, and I will say
2:18typically in those builds, I still find James I want to run this by you before we dive into it. I think in like more
2:25traditional redraft leagues, I've been heavier on the on like the running back build.
2:32>> Yeah.
2:32>> I do still find, especially in a best ball setting where you can kind of cobble things together, although I don't
2:37know if I love how this running back room came out. And when you can start three receivers and ultimately all that,
2:42I still find myself okay with the hero RB build, but I don't feel I don't love this particular team, but I still think
2:51format-wise I'm I'm still all right with that.
2:54>> Okay, I like it. By the way, what's up to the YouTube chat here? Nick Wells is in there.
2:58Flapple Sauce, what a great handle that is.
3:02I can't read them all, but Donnahoe is in there. Scribbles is always supporting, which is great. Scribbles, good to see you, pal. Michelle Watson,
3:09which spot were you drafting in? We're going to get into that, obviously, but he was drafting in the four spot there.
3:14So, it's good. Brooks is a sneaky good pick.
3:19That's a good rushing ecosystem.
3:22>> Yeah.
3:23>> Sneaky >> sneaky. It's very sneaky.
3:26>> It's less sneaky than it was like 2 months ago.
3:30>> Sure.
3:31>> His ADP has actually risen. He has an ADP right now around like 100th overall.
3:36I ended up taking him at the 93rd spot.
3:39And again, we'll we'll obviously review all these individual picks and everything. We'll go round by round with that. But yeah, I feel like it's a
3:44little less sneaky.
3:47Although, hey, here's the sneakiest pick of the draft. We'll we'll we'll get into it, but Scribbles noticed, yeah, Takh Jahan Dotson on in the 20th round.
3:56I did I did that for the brand, baby.
3:58Like, it was either going to be It was either going to be Bateman or Dotson, and it ended up being Jahan Dotson, so
4:04you got to love to see that. That was for the brand, but let's let's waste no more time here. Let's get into Let's
4:09just get into into just round one here and how things started. Pretty chalky start. I ended up with the fourth overall pick. So, for me, that was
4:16probably either going to end up being Puka Nacua or Christian McCaffrey.
4:22Ultimately ended up going with Puka Nacua fourth overall cuz, as expected, it went Gibbs, Bijan, and then Ja'Marr Chase at third overall. So, I ended up
4:31with Puka, who we just talked about on the big show yesterday, Reception Perception, the show, baby. Go ahead and get into it. Go ahead and subscribe
4:40wherever you get your podcast. But, yeah, I ended up with Puka fourth overall. McCaffrey, JSN went the two picks right after that. So, what do you
4:46think about my pick of Puka and just the rest of the first round here, Rashaan?
4:50>> Well, first of all, I love Puka ahead of Christian McCaffrey. I am afraid of the workload and the age and just the
4:57overall fragility of that San Francisco offense. Okay, that being said, question for you, and I know that Puka is generally generally ranked ahead of
5:08JSN, but why not JSN, who again just put together an incredible season last year?
5:14Obviously, they lose their offensive coordinator, but the the the the the atmosphere is basically the same. The ecosystem is is essentially the same.
5:22JSN, why not JSN over Puka Nacua?
5:26>> It's a good question.
5:27I think you can break ties in favor of saying that, "Hey, look, one guy's got his offensive coordinator here back again, and the other one does not." And
5:37the guy who has his offensive coordinator back has Sean McVay, you know, he's back in the mix here. And JSN does have Listen, I love JSN maybe more
5:48than anybody, but there we can also say that there are some regression indicators in his overall profile.
5:58Ran extremely hot on deep passes last year among wide receivers since 2015, he has the third highest yards per route run at 3.68.
6:09And in terms of team target share, he's 35.8%, which is the highest for any team target share since 2015 for a wide receiver.
6:18Number two is actually DeAndre Hopkins at 33.7%. So there's actually a pretty decent gap between his ability to consolidate targets last year versus
6:28everybody else on the team. I do think there is some ability to see that run back again, right? Like Hopkins I said is two.
6:36Everybody else in the top five is actually Michael Thomas 2019, Antonio Brown 2015, and then DeAndre Hopkins 2018. So he did Hopkins have it
6:45back-to-back years in terms of being 33% or over. I JSN could do that once again.
6:51It is theoretically possible, but I do think there are guys in this offense that could step up a little bit and just
6:57slightly eat into that target share.
7:00Whereas with Puka Nacua in Los Angeles, I mentioned the yards per route run like JSN was third. Puka Nacua is second and
7:08fourth on the list in terms of yards per route run since 2015. So he's actually done it twice.
7:14The environment is exactly the same, so that's kind of just why I break ties in favor of Puka Nacua slightly ahead of
7:22excuse me JSN.
7:23>> Okay, there you go. So yeah, the rest of the the round is interesting here. I I find it interesting that Adonai Mitchell went
7:31that high, but again it's best ball, so things can get a little wonky pretty quick depending on how how what ceiling
7:37people think certain players have. Okay, so let's get into that second round now.
7:41>> All right, so round two >> [snorts] >> starts off hot with Kenneth Walker at 2.1. I was thinking maybe like maybe
7:48Kenneth Walker can make it to me in the back half of the second round. Not so much. I actually think from a redraft
7:55standpoint Kenneth Walker is going to be one of my favorite second round picks this year. But he starts off hot with
8:01the first pick in the second round.
8:03James, I know you're a big Kenneth Walker guy. How do you feel about him being the first pick in the second
8:07round?
8:09>> I love it when you're like, "Yeah, I'm going to be a big Jente guy and then a big Kenneth Walker guy." And both these
8:13guys go way ahead of Kenneth Walker.
8:15>> Way early, which is crazy. Who Was I drafting with you? What's going on over here?
8:18>> I don't believe so unless your name is Mamalo. I don't know.
8:22>> not. It is not. No, um and again, I like I like Walker and I think Walker's going to have a great season, but again, I
8:30Yeah, Casey's offense looks a little little dusty, man. So again, I think there's some concerns there, but but that being said, I think Kenneth Walker
8:38will be a fine pick. At the top of the second round though, that price is probably a little too rich for my blood. I love the fact that you
8:44got Derrick Henry that late though.
8:46That's crazy, man.
8:47>> Dude, I listen, I will admit this. I'm going to be the last guy on the big dog train.
8:55I will be here till the end for Derrick Henry. I'll be the last I'll be go you know um You know that the captain of the Titanic
9:02in that in the movie where he just goes down in the end, baby? That's going to be me. All right, that is going to that
9:08is going to be me. Here's the thing though, Derrick Henry's yards before contact fell from 2024 to 2025. Under it was like 2.6 down to
9:182.4 down to 1.6.
9:20His yards after contact actually went up by just a little bit, 3.5 to 3.59. So like I don't see any signs. I'm
9:28interested if you get to chart Derrick Henry, like I don't see any visual signs of decline with him. There's other than
9:34your boy Adam Randall, there's nobody in the backfield really to push him for significant touches. I like his fit in the new offense and his ADP's just gone
9:42down a little bit again. So yeah, I mean again, especially in these hero running back builds, you could end up having
9:48like a running back one at that 20th overall spot. I got him at 21 here that I did Derrick Henry. So just like to me,
9:55I think he makes complete sense and again, what ended up being a wide receiver heavy build. I I will say I did
10:02you know, I was kind of actually kind of kind of thankful to not have to pick between Achane and and Derrick Henry,
10:07especially in a full point PPR spot.
10:09Achane went in the the pick ahead of me cuz I think that would have been a tough call, but I did at least
10:16think about going Nico Collins over Derrick Henry. Which which way would you have would you have gone there?
10:21>> I think I'm going Henry here. Achane, again, you've highlighted this many times, good running backs in bad offenses tend not to do that good.
10:30And again, there's a whole new offensive game plan there in Miami. I'm not 100% sure. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty
10:37confident he doesn't fit in the new scheme. So I'll be curious to see what Achane ends up looking there in Miami, but yeah, I would have gone Henry
10:46and I think I would have gone Henry pretty easily. To be honest with you, I think at that spot, I'm actually the
10:51only two players I would have considered who are in [snorts] the same price range would have been Derrick Henry and Nico
10:56Collins. Like I'm very curious to see what Nico Collins can do. Um, you know, again, if if CJ Stroud can get
11:03his head on straight, man, and >> [laughter] >> and kind of sort of get away from those playoff performances, but I think Nico
11:09Collins in the late second is really good value, too.
11:13>> Yeah, that I was it was a tough choice, honestly, between Nico and Derrick Henry. I just thought that Henry really
11:20represented a teardrop at running back and I didn't feel the same about the teardrop at wide receiver as we'll talk about when we get into the
11:29third round here in just a second. But yeah, man, I'm with you. Nico Collins, second in the NFL in yards per route run
11:34over the last 3 years since C.J. Stroud entered the NFL. I still maintain that C.J. Stroud is like a little bit underrated now at this
11:44point. Top 10 quarterback by EPA per play last year. I know the quarterback obviously the the quarterback performance in the in the playoffs was
11:50abhorrent. It's kind of what everybody remembers. Also, by the way, didn't have Nico Collins in that Patriots game. That probably would have helped C.J. Stroud
11:57not completely melt down if you had his number one receiver there. Really, it's just injuries with Nico Collins. And very good really good stat by my buddy
12:04Joel Smith over at Yahoo. Uh Nico Collins last year when there were two plus tight ends on the field had a 36%
12:10targets per route. When it was not two plus tight ends on the field, uh just zero to one tight ends, it was 24% and I
12:17do think that um we're going to see more two tight end sets from this team after they took Marlon Mack a blocking tight end on day two of the
12:25NFL draft. So, I do think Nico is a sneaky wide receiver one overall candidate this year as everybody, you know, ourselves
12:33included, James, has tried to say like who's going to be the next this year's Jackson Smith-Njigba type. It could kind of be an already established guy in Nico
12:41Collins if we do indeed see him kind of play with more two tight ends in Houston.
12:46>> You know, Matt, I'll tell you what. The I I know you were you were itching for a Drake London to drop to you there,
12:52right? Like uh you're thinking, "Oh man, Drake London's still on the board. He's still on the board. He's still on the
12:56board." And then he gets snatched up a couple picks in front of you. Um but that being said, I would say the worst
13:01picks and want to get your your your takes here. I think the worst picks were Rashee Rice in the second The chat, by
13:07the way, is is all is all over the Rashee Rice in the second round uh pick. But that part, yeah, I don't I
13:14don't get, man. That's I would not take Rashee Rice in the second round. Um that feels like way too rich um for my blood. And then I would say
13:24the other pick that I kind of sort of I'm balking at there. Look, I think Walker went too early, but he's still a
13:30pretty good second round pick. I think Chase Brown though um in that in that middle part of the second round also
13:37scares me just a little bit, too.
13:40>> I I'm fine with Chase Brown there. I actually kind of think he could be a good pick um in the second round. He's somebody I
13:47would have thought about if he'd made it to 2.9. I also by the way think I would just straight up take
13:52I think I would straight up take uh Nico Collins ahead of Drake London this year. So, I was okay honestly if if
13:59Nico had made it to me over Drake. The two other picks I think are a little questionable here.
14:05I'm not I I don't I hate I keep I keep feeling like I'm just talking down on AJ Brown, but I just wish he was around
14:10cheaper. I I think he should be a third round pick, not a second round pick. And for uh Emeka I would I love Emeka this
14:18year, but uh 16th overall is very aggressive uh for Emeka Emeka. And that's somebody that I I think I from what just what I've heard, I think he's
14:27really popular in kind of like the high stakes leagues and and some of these like best ball formats and stuff like
14:32that. I think you're never going to see him go in the second round in a traditional redraft league. So, this was
14:37an aggressive uh ADP for him, but yeah, overall I do think I'm really in on Emeka Emeka. We did a video on him
14:44that's on the channel actually here. Uh subscribe if you're watching along with us. But yeah, he was a shocking second round pick here.
14:50>> Um let's go back to the full draft board, Matt, and just again kind of recap here what >> we got through two rounds with you.
14:56You've got Puka Nacua in round one, Derrick Henry in round number two. Um team number three is going with a a
15:04pretty heavy wide receiver build. And then team number 1 2 3 4 5 6 7.
15:11Uh what does that say? Uh Taytu Great?
15:14>> Something like that.
15:14>> Uh is going with the heavy Yeah, three running backs off the board.
15:17Actually, the last team uh in this draft is also going with a heavy running back build, too.
15:24So, a lot of running backs.
15:26>> out for him. Yeah, we'll see how it plays out for some of the Some of them are like I I think you know, not to my my
15:32drafting compatriots here, but you know, I do think some of these receiver rooms got a little vol- little too volatile for me uh in some of these spots. You're
15:40like, I'm not trying to have I'm not trying to have Parker Washington be my second receiver or Courtland Sutton be my third receiver for some of these
15:46teams here. I mean, uh a lot of risk reward here. Uh but you know, I'm I'm actually okay with talking talking down
15:52about Mallow here because he he sniped a pick from me and we'll get into that when we get to the second the sixth
15:58round here. But let's go to round >> three >> Yeah. I ended up uh coming back around early third round getting DeVonta Smith.
16:05>> Man, love it.
16:06>> I really like these receivers here uh in this tier. Ult- ult- ultimately, um you know, I think Pickens is fine at the top
16:13of the third round. Olave, really good at the top of the third round. Uh DeVonta Smith, I thought was good here
16:20as well. Uh and then Zay Flowers, Garrett Wilson, Ladd McConkey, I think probably like a tier down to those guys.
16:27Uh even Zay Flowers, I would say. Like to me, I think Olave is last in his tier uh of this bucket, but ultimately I you
16:35know, I just really good really good pick here uh for for all those guys in round three. I think it's totally fine. So, yeah, happy
16:41to get DeVonta Smith. Um you know, I think I just a quick quick question here from the chat, like why Smith over
16:47Flowers?
16:48I just think Smith's a better player. Uh and like yeah, I really like Flowers.
16:51I'm I'm really cool with where he he's going. Totally fine with him in the third round. I think his upside is
16:56higher than maybe kind of given credit, especially if what happens what we talked about in the podcast yesterday, James, where he does become
17:02more of that uh red zone threat. Uh he is used more in scoring areas after taking a step forward against press
17:09coverage last year. He's definitely going to be, you know, more involved and and probably have like an eight to nine touchdown season, which would be huge
17:17for him if that comes to pass, but ultimately I just feel a little bit better about Devonta Smith just being that like true true alpha receiver.
17:25>> So, two I think candidates here in terms of okay, who's the quote unquote next JSN? I think Devonta Smith is probably
17:34prime to have a great season. We'll see what the passing volume looks like in Philadelphia, but again, no AJ Brown, he's going to absorb a lot of those
17:41targets.
17:42And we saw his rookie rookie campaign too.
17:46More than capable of playing outside.
17:48Your charting has certainly shown that Devonta Smith is more than capable of playing outside as a man press beater.
17:54So, Devonta Smith I think is a really good candidate to quote unquote really have a huge breakout season here. And then you and I have talked a lot about
18:02Ladd McConkey. So, you know, it's interesting. Flowers is a totally acceptable pick here in the third round. But if I am straight going
18:12just straight upside gas, I probably take him after both Garrett Wilson and Ladd McConkey if
18:21I'm just straight up chasing upside.
18:25>> Garrett Wilson is such a fascinating pick. You know, you brought him up there. He's just been an incredible target getter.
18:33He was quietly awesome last year before getting hurt. You know, despite the fact like oh, it's Justin Fields and it's a
18:39Garbo offense again.
18:41Now, I did kind of like the way Garrett Wilson was deployed under Tanner Engstrand, who's now the passing game coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. So,
18:48hopefully can bring some of those designs from a receipt movement perspective down there to Atlanta, but ultimately yeah, I think it's just like the Frank Reich of it is
18:57tough. You know, the Geno Smith of it is is not ideal, but could be the most aggressive quarterback he's played with
19:03in a while. So, just tough. I I tweeted this recently. You know, you see Garrett Wilson, you pull up the player
19:10comparisons for him in our RP player comparison tool and it's just like, oh my god, stud, stud, stud, stud.
19:15>> It's like Ja'Marr Chase and >> Yeah, it's like two guys, you know.
19:19I I it's like two Ja'Marr Chase seasons.
19:20I think it's an old Antonio Brown season with the Steelers, a Stefon Diggs season with the Vikings, and then like a
19:25DeAndre Hopkins season. He's like, this is the guy he should be and yet he's not. But then you get to this point in the third round and you're
19:32like, well, risk-reward and everything, uh is it kind of worth taking the plunge? Obviously, um in this draft the this person said yes at 3.8.
19:40>> Yeah. Um and again, I think he's a lot more volatile than Zay Flowers, but Zay Flowers to me, which is in a it should
19:47again be a a relatively low uh volume passing attack. Uh maybe it changes, I don't know, but you know, uh with the
19:54the build of the team I I I I kind of sort of think it doesn't. So, um you know, last year he had 1,200 yards.
20:01It's great. I just I struggle to tell myself a story where Zay Flowers cracks 15 and 15, you know?
20:09Uh it's just where does that where does he get to 1,300? Where does he get to double-digit touchdowns? He he's not been a a big touchdown getter.
20:17I know you and I talked about that, but they added guys to compete with him in the red [laughter] zone, in Jacobi Lane
20:24and Elijah Serrant, right? So, it just to me I I I I struggle to to find a story, a path for Zay Flowers to
20:33get to double-digit touchdowns or even get to 1,300 yards. So, again, I think he's a really reliable pick and a a
20:40totally fine pick at in the third round.
20:42I just like I said, if I'm just chasing upside, and that's all I'm chasing here, uh Flowers probably to me is somebody
20:50that I'm avoiding in the third round.
20:52Again, if I'm just going best ball and just looking for those ceilings.
20:56>> I'm definitely a little more open to Zay Flowers, you know, being like a 1,300 and eight to nine touchdown player, uh
21:03which, you know, look, he was like wide receiver six last season, um or wide receiver seven, something like that.
21:09Now, I mean, that would even be better than that value. But, yeah, true like wide receiver one overall is probably not within his range of outcomes going
21:16like full on JSN where I do think Yeah, with Ladd, it probably is. With like Garrett Wilson, it probably is. And
21:25and cert Yeah, Garrett Wilson probably just doesn't have the uh Yeah, it doesn't have doesn't have the ceiling there. But, yeah, good question
21:31here um about Zay Flowers if Diggs goes there. Yeah, that would be uh That would be super complicating. I tend to think
21:39Now, never You never want to doubt the Baltimore Ravens signing a 30-plus year-old receiver for just to come That's like their move.
21:47>> It's Anthony.
21:48>> It's either him or It's either them or the Titans, you know, they sign a receiver on their very last legs just to
21:53complete like the pho- you know, the the photo collage of that. They've done it with like Dez and all kinds of Odell
21:59Beckham. But, uh yeah, I do think that that would complicate matters. I kind of tend to doubt that they go that
22:06direction because they've been pretty happy with their young guys in the offseason. And And Rashod Bateman is still there. They're kind of talking up
22:13to Dontayvion Wicks Walker maybe taking a step forward. But, you know, I think getting into training camp is no good. I
22:17just think that's kind of like too much similarity between what Zay gives you and what Diggs gives you from both a pre-snap and like a
22:25strength standpoint at this point of their career. But, um yeah, I actually do kind of think that Diggs at this point probably the favorite to sign with
22:33Washington just cuz I mean the Aiyuk thing is completely falling apart.
22:39>> Yeah, that's done.
22:40>> No, that's highly I think that's done. Uh I don't know what's going to happen with that guy.
22:44>> I dude, I don't know though. I I don't I kind of don't think that Diggs gets signed either, to be honest with you.
22:50He's got a lot of stuff going on.
22:51>> Yeah, he's got a He's got a lot going on. Yeah, he's got a lot Let's put it that way. He's got a lot going on.
22:56>> So, I would say I would say Diggs probably not going to sign either. So, I don't know.
23:00>> I don't know. We'll see. get to Let's get to round four. Uh here. So, starts off by the way with Tee Higgins who
23:06Dude, Tee Higgins is a great pick at 4.1. I mean, I it's just it so funny how he's he's getting passed up for a lot of
23:17these like really exciting names and I totally get it, you know, like kind of the the mystery box names. Um you know,
23:25like DeVonta Smith, uh you know, the Zay Flowers, even like the Chris Olave's and like the in some spots like Ameka
23:33Egbuka, Ladd McConkey are going ahead or ranked higher than Tee Higgins.
23:37When Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins are on the field together, he is one of the best receivers in the NFL like period
23:42end of story from a production standpoint. So, I think he's a great pick. I'm I'm talking up Mallow here when I'm when he he pissed me off later
23:49this draft, but uh yeah, I I think that was a great pick [laughter] by them in the beginning of the fourth round.
23:55>> Okay, there you go. Uh ETN uh in New Orleans now goes with the second pick.
24:00Uh Javonte Williams feels like such a boring pick, but again, pretty reliable um overall. We go down to near the end
24:08of the fourth round and this is where you get Terry McLaurin. Pretty good value here uh all things considered.
24:13Malik Nabers goes one pick ahead. I don't even know how I feel about this pick, you know, it's like >> Yeah.
24:19>> I it could be a great pick or it could be a horrible pick. I don't know. I mean, it's just
24:23what what what what do we get with Malik Nabers there in the fourth round, you know? I have no idea.
24:27>> I'm just not drafting him right now.
24:29Like obviously here in the middle of July, we don't really know if he's going to start the season on the pup. There's
24:35been like zero positive news about him from an injury standpoint, you know, he definitely had a clean up surgery. I just I just wouldn't take him right now,
24:43>> Yeah, I agree.
24:44>> in the fourth round I still think you can't take him. But maybe if it gets a little closer. But here's the thing,
24:48like if we get positive news and I start to feel better about it, then he's going to be a third round pick again. So, like
24:53it's just if you want to take him, this is the probably actually the time to do it. It's it's you know, you lean into it
24:58and all that, but yeah, I I it's just not for me. I will say Terry McLaurin, I I really love getting
25:04him at 45th overall. He's kind of an again, kind of the last guy in this tier to me. I was really hoping Jaylen Waddle
25:11was going to make it to me here at 4.9.
25:13He gets he gets taken at 4.6.
25:16I this it is a good lesson in that, you know, I I value Jaylen Waddle ahead of consensus.
25:23Um I have him like receiver 12 this year where, you know, some of his redraft ADP best ball maybe a little bit sharper,
25:30but redraft ADP is, you know, up it sounds like wide receiver 21, I think last time I checked in.
25:38You want to get him you're probably going to want to get him in the early fourth as a best ball pick or late
25:43third. And I I just love Jaylen Waddle this year. I was definitely disappointed to not get him uh in the late fourth round, but Terry
25:50McLaurin really good consolation prize uh and you know, potential wide receiver one in his own right.
25:56>> I would say for me the weakest pick probably um Josh Jacobs there in a pick after you.
26:02I can't talk about guys that got a lot of things going on, man. Like Josh Jacobs got some things going on.
26:07Um I don't like that at all. David did.
26:11I don't know how many times I need to tell people David Montgomery's not going to do anything in Houston, y'all. Like
26:15and again, maybe I'm wrong.
26:17Again, but I am so confident David Montgomery is not going to do a goddamn thing in Houston. It's a bad landing
26:23spot.
26:24>> Not a thing. I'm telling you he's not a thing. I'm I'm telling you David Montgomery's not good. Um he's his his
26:32production has been tailing off. His explosiveness is is completely off the table. Um he was running behind a really good old line in Detroit. Now he's going
26:40behind one of the worst offensive lines in Houston. It's it it he is not going to be a thing, man. This is going to
26:46look like one of the I in this ball take, I think it's going to look like one of the worst signings um
26:51in the off season. In my >> a signing, a trade. They traded him, a fourth round pick and an offensive lineman, uh, for David
26:58Montgomery, too. So, like, yeah, it's it's it's it's a tough one. It's funny, I I don't have like a strong feeling on
27:04Montgomery at all. Every time I'm doing my rankings or he's in it, I wouldn't have taken him in the fourth round. Uh,
27:09I think he probably is more like an okay fifth round pick.
27:12>> Yep.
27:12>> But, uh, yeah, I mean, a guy like De'Andre Swift I probably would have taken ahead of him.
27:17>> Totally.
27:18>> You know, I think Cam Skattebo is probably a guy I would take ahead of him, too, but um, yeah, I it's just a
27:25very very, uh, I don't know, I just like a whatever pick to me. I don't have a strong feeling on him one way, um, or
27:31another. What did you think about Luther Burden 4.5? I know you're, I know you're in the you're in the you're involved in
27:37the culture war. I am in [laughter] the culture war of Adunze versus Burden.
27:42>> I think Look, I I just give me the guy who's cheaper and Luther Burden's going way way more early than than Romeo
27:50Doubs. So, I to me I I don't like the pick, but I understand the pick. Let me just put it to you that way. So, I
27:55understand the pick, I don't like the pick. I'll I'll always be the guy that takes the cheaper of the two and it's
27:59generally going to be Romeo Doubs.
28:01>> I feel like always going to be Romeo Doubs. I don't think there's any changing that. Too much of too much of
28:07fantasy Twitter fantasy analysts are all over Luther Burden because of his finish to the season and yards per route run, whereas, yeah, man, I definitely think
28:14that I Look, I'm still very much into Adunze. I'm willing to take If there's any injury risk, I'm willing to take it.
28:20And we'll go from there, but yeah, I think to me it's just Adunze should be going a little higher.
28:26Burden should maybe be going slightly lower. Like, these two guys should pretty much be back and back-to-back. I think if you're picking if you are, uh,
28:33taking Burden in the fourth round and you're not an Adunze backer, I think the the argument that stands up the best to
28:40scrutiny to me >> Mhm.
28:42>> is just cuz there are some arguments that I think are just terrible. Like, for why Adunze should be pushed below
28:48and like there's some really bad arguments out there. The one that stands up to merit to me is that Luther Burden, his skill set is
28:56going to allow him to get a lot more like layup targets and that is going to put him like out of the danger zone of Caleb
29:03Williams' inaccuracy. Like I think actually if you think if you believe that Caleb Williams is going to take a step forward, you should really be into
29:10Rome Odunze. If you don't think he's going to take a step forward, you know, that probably leans into more of Luther
29:14Burden's skill set with some of the design touches and things of that nature.
29:17>> Yeah, I agree with that 100%. Let's take a look at the full draft board again here because just kind of get a little
29:24bit of a review. Matt's team right now, we've got three wide receivers, one running back. The three wide receivers look really, really good. I like the
29:32fact that you've got two, you know, I mean, bang up upside wide receivers in Nacua and Devonta Smith. I think Terry
29:38McLaurin is a really nice stable pick and it's it's kind of like an kind of like anchors your wide receiver room here a little bit, but the bottom
29:46line is, as a wide receiver theory, Terry McLaurin looks awesome. Derrick Henry as your your top running back, I think is such a great pick, man. So,
29:55love [snorts] the build thus far in best ball for Matt. It's it's really interesting to me, too, right? Because we were I was talking about this David
30:03Montgomery pick there in the fourth round and maybe he just felt like, man, I got to go running back here cuz he's looking at the rest
30:12of the board. That being said, dude, what are we doing? Like why why reach for David Montgomery um if like, you know, again, like if you
30:23want to go wide receiver here, go wide receiver again. You might as well I see like this is a great example of if
30:29if this was me, I would adjust my strategy right here, right now in the fourth. Where I'm saying, okay, I don't like a lot of the
30:37running backs on the board cuz clearly he didn't like Jacobs, he didn't like Gainwell, he didn't like Swift, right?
30:42He didn't like Judkins, he didn't like Irving. He's like, "Okay, cool. I'm going to take David Mont." This is where I literally shift my strategy right now
30:47and just go full on zero RB. Let me just go wide receiver here. Let me just take a bunch of these handcuffs late and
30:54adjust accordingly. I'm definitely and again in a in a freaking crazy tournament style best ball, I'm not taking David Montgomery here just so I
31:03can have a running back, you know?
31:04>> Bro, you hate David Montgomery.
31:06I'm going to be a David Montgomery centrist. You're uh in the extremist militia faction of the anti-David Montgomery you know outlet. But I I I will say the
31:18thing that like when I look zoom out and look at the full team, I'm glad you decided to do that cuz it does kind of
31:22inform you know why you know you make that like I got to get a bell cow back here like a guy who just projects for a
31:28lot big workload and there's no like current injury question which is definitely true with Cam Skatabo if we're comparing him to De'Andre Swift.
31:34Like >> Yeah.
31:35>> I think Khalil Herbert is better than you know Woody Marks and like clearly is going to be more involved in that
31:40committee. So I got and obviously Josh Jacobs as we said got a lot going on.
31:44>> Yes.
31:44>> So that's why you land on David Montgomery. I think you end up having to do that because you took Josh Allen in
31:49the third round. And I think that's look I there's you're not going to get me to say anything bad about Josh Allen
31:55especially 30th overall. Like he should be what happened here which is that there's like a gap between the him and the next quarterback um you know going
32:03there. The the problem just for me is that it does I just think there's so much depth at the quarterback as we'll
32:10see as we go throughout the draft um that to me if I you kind of just it's the old opportunity cost thing. It's why
32:16like late round quarterback J.J.
32:18Zachariason made his mark. Some of the opportunity cost there.
32:21>> It's why he has a whole business.
32:22>> It's why he's got a whole That's why he's got a whole brand, a whole business.
32:25Uh yeah. And and again you end up passing on Love, Kyren Williams, you know Breece Hall, a lot of decent running back picks there in the third
32:33round and then you're kind of just chasing that position. So um yeah, I I I think that's why you end up in this in
32:39this spot there. Um you know, when you when you have to take end up taking David Montgomery and then you're kind of
32:44chasing that uh running back spot.
32:46>> Yeah, and again, he must have liked some other wide receivers. So, again, I just go full zero RB build here and just, you
32:51know, chase the dragon, man. Like let's just >> just hate You just hate David Montgomery, which is, you know, >> Hey, listen, even even if you don't hate
32:57David Montgomery, right? Even if you don't hate David and you think, "Okay, this guy's going to get, I don't know, 70% of the touches." Um you know, the
33:04offensive line is improved from last year, certainly.
33:08Um and you think, "Okay, he was being held back by playing behind Jahmyr Gibbs." Okay. Like even if you buy all
33:14of that, which is be the the absolute like ceiling case for David Montgomery, I still would rather look at that board
33:22and say, "Okay, give me one of these other wide receivers that are I mean, I would take McLaurin ahead of David
33:29Montgomery. I would take um Davante Adams ahead of David Montgomery." So, I just Like I said, I think there is a
33:37case um that you would take some of these higher upside wide receivers over a even in the ceiling case, David Montgomery is what?
33:48A top-15 back?
33:49>> Yeah.
33:50>> Right? So, I don't I'm I guess I'm just not excited about that, especially when we're talking about best ball.
33:55>> Yeah, the ceiling's not that great.
33:57There's no question about that. He's like again on base running back two pick. Uh and obviously, if that's your running back one, I didn't hate their
34:03strategy though as they went throughout running back on the rest of the the list here, but uh we'll get into that. Let's
34:08Let's go to to round uh five here.
34:11Uh where I ended up with Quintez Cephus Judkins who like look, it's the Browns.
34:16It's not the most ideal situation in the world, but I do think Quintez Cephus is a good player.
34:22>> Yes.
34:22>> And I think he is tethered to an offensive line that is at least different this year than it was last year when it was bad. Uh uh
34:31>> It's different. [laughter] >> I don't know how good it's going to be, but it is different.
34:34Uh and Todd Monken, really good run game designer. So, yeah, I like Quinton Johnston as a fifth round pick for the
34:41um the value of it. A lot of receivers in this round and obviously after our discussion earlier this week, I wasn't
34:48going to take Trayvon Henderson in the fifth round.
34:51Uh you zoom out to like the full board, you you can kind of see some of the guys like I did think about Raeshell Wooten
34:58versus Quinton Johnston and two ends up going all the way down in the sixth round there. So, I'm not sure about how
35:03you feel about those two guys. Okay, I think I made the I think I made the right call, but I just wanted to wanted
35:10to run it by you there.
35:11>> No, it's great. Um and again, Trayvon Henderson, you know, if you guys have missed it, the running back profile is
35:17up on the site right now, receptionperception.com.
35:20But um yeah, he just as again >> Can I say something about that real quick, by the way? I'm sorry to I'm
35:25sorry to interrupt you. I've seen a couple of people say this like uh at least like three, which means obviously that's a wide sample. Be like,
35:32this is really going to be the barometer if the running back charting is any good, if Trayvon Henderson is good or
35:38bad. And my two retorts to that is one, yeah, definitely always throw something out for one wrong take if that ends up
35:44being the case. [laughter] You always do that.
35:47Like I've never I true 100% I've never gotten anything wrong.
35:51So, you never never never been wrong.
35:53Reception Perception has never led us wrong. Don't don't talk about Elijah Moore, okay? Like it's never been wrong.
35:59Two, you were you nailed this situation last year because of the running back charting. So, I just want to get that on
36:05the record. Like you you 100% were correct about this based on last year's results. So, yeah, and and by the way, that was last year's
36:13season that Trayvon Henderson was that way. Nobody's saying he can't be better this year. So, I'm just coming to your defense there a little bit on not on
36:19Twitter cuz what's the point, but here on our stream what then might as well just say that.
36:24>> And and by the way, if If read the profile, too, it's not like I've completely given up on Henderson, you
36:28know? I'm saying if he can be more consistent, the guy's going to be an absolute dog. He's going to be a savage,
36:34man. But it's just he just has to get more consistent. He's not there yet, and I think that's absolutely fair to say.
36:40>> It's why his team didn't play him in the on the run to the Super Bowl.
36:43>> Yeah, [laughter] you know?
36:44>> I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
36:45>> They're tired of these tackles in the backfield. They're tired of him just, you know, just not making not making the
36:50right reads. When there's three three yards available and you're getting one yard, I mean, you know, somebody like Mike Vrabel's going to see that in film
36:58and say, "Dude, we can't have this." So, look, he if he can get more consistent, and there's absolutely a path for him to
37:04get more consistent.
37:06But like I said, the charting wasn't good. So, I don't know. Um so, I don't know. We'll see. So, but overall
37:12>> Yeah, wasn't taking him in the fifth round, though. There's there's that's for sure.
37:16>> Correct.
37:17Um I think Odunze was a good was a really good value pick here. What did you think about Parker Washington ahead
37:23of Odunze, Mike Evans, and Jordan Addison?
37:27>> Yeah, I like Parker Washington, but that's not for me.
37:30Um and I did he's he's going to definitely be like a high-ceiling player. I actually think in a weird way they're they're very different guys, but
37:37Christian Watson, uh who I just wrapped up his charting recently, and uh Parker Washington, you know, kind of going back-to-back, I actually think they're
37:44very similar profile players. I'm just more confident that Christian Watson is going to be on the field as I mean, famous last words, but obviously if he
37:52stays [laughter] healthy, I'm confident he's going to be on the field for all of the snaps, you know? Like I think that
37:59that's the the way I'd kind of view that. So, yeah, I think he's a volatile wide receiver three more so is is Parker
38:05Washington, which I believe full team build-wise, like he is this guy's. Uh no, actually he's wide receiver two for Tay uh two grade, which is uh cuz he
38:14went three running backs right away. I do think that leaves you a little bit um two It's It's best ball, so it's not the
38:19worst thing in the world, but a little too boom-bust uh at running at wide receiver there with Parker Washington as your two.
38:25>> Yeah, it's not bad. Okay, so let's go to round six here.
38:30>> I just want to quickly before we go to round six.
38:32>> Yes.
38:33>> Like there's a couple of guys in here I just don't have like a great feeling for. Watson is one of them, DJ Moore is
38:38definitely one of them, and Jordan Tyson here at the end of round five I think is a little aggressive.
38:43>> That's very aggressive.
38:44>> It's very It's very aggressive.
38:45>> Very aggressive.
38:46>> And I say that because as we go to round six >> Yeah.
38:49>> Like I Malo here really screwed me by taking Jayden Daniels ahead of ADP and as the second quarter third quarterback off the board behind
39:00Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson because I really wanted that stack here in the sixth round with Terry McLaurin and Jayden Daniels. And look, if Jayden
39:08Daniels stays healthy, he's going to be an awesome pick this year. I really like him in the 60s both in best ball and in
39:13redraft, but obviously here I guess I get sniped on that, which is why I've been >> I was Yeah, I was pissed.
39:19>> This guy, okay? That was annoying.
39:22>> Yeah, Basil Tuton is a really interesting pick now that Travis Etienne is gone. I think he'll be fine. I just
39:30I'm still a little curious to see what ends up happening here.
39:33So yeah, I think he was okay last year.
39:36I don't think he was great.
39:38So I don't know. I'm I'm surprised that Jacksonville didn't make another move at running back to be honest with you. But
39:45that being said, right now it looks like >> Chris Rodriguez.
39:48>> Yeah, somebody that I'm not that excited about. So I don't know, we'll see.
39:52Um Yeah, you take a look at their running back room. It's Tuton, Chris Rodriguez, Laquon Allen and Ameer Abdullah.
40:00>> Still hanging around, baby.
40:01>> Abdullah is still in the league. That's amazing. Good for him. I'm going to get around to charting both Basil Tuton and
40:08Laquon Allen just because Laquon Allen played a lot more snaps than anybody was anticipating.
40:13>> [snorts] >> Mostly as a pass blocking running back, but again, that sometimes can graduate into full-on just like getting carry
40:20status. So, I don't know, we'll see there.
40:22Um but uh okay, so we go to you and it's Marvin Harrison Jr. Um there. I think you got again, I'm going to say, man, I
40:30think you got really good value here with uh MHJ.
40:35>> 69th overall pick, nice for Marvin Harrison Jr. Uh I hated that Brian Thomas Jr. didn't make it to me though.
40:41I really wanted BTJ because this is the format that I think would be perfect for Thomas. He would be my fourth receiver.
40:48Marv is my fourth receiver here. So, all ups and I think BTJ, even if he doesn't recapture the form of 2024 and hell,
40:56even if he's not, you know, mostly better than he was last year because because he's healthy or whatever, even if you don't buy BTJ the player, he's
41:05going to be in the deep threat role here and I think he's good enough to do that.
41:08Okay, so like he he was going to be an awesome pick. I think it's the fourth receiver. So, definitely a bummer
41:14uh that I didn't get Brian Thomas Jr.
41:16out. Marv is a totally fine consolation prize and maybe you like Marv straight up ahead of BTJ. I just thought format-wise and I actually do have them
41:24back-to-back in my ranking, so you know, whatever. I wasn't that broken up about it, but there was at least like 12
41:29seconds that I was really upset that I didn't get Brian Thomas Jr.
41:32>> [laughter] >> No, you're right. BTJ in this format is amazing um and we'll certainly see um what happens there. Tony Pollard at the
41:41end of the sixth round, I think is an interesting pick, too. Uh Jaylen Warren, we'll see what's going on.
41:48>> J'Darien Price.
41:49>> J'Darien Price is so interesting. Um >> Do you have a take on Price as a sixth-round pick?
41:56>> It's the right price for Price, pun fully intended there. Um it's the right price for him. I just think um I'll be curious to see what ends up
42:05happening. You know, I I know they're going to still use a lot of that wide zone stuff there in Seattle um and I
42:10think that's the format that J'Darien Gibbs will thrive in.
42:13>> [snorts] >> They're going to give him all the opportunity in the world, especially early.
42:17Um Yeah.
42:20>> Yeah, it's wishy-washy. I I like and I don't say this to be to be harsh to you. It's I feel very
42:24wishy-washy about the whole thing, too.
42:26Like, I got which is funny. It's like a round one running back.
42:30>> I know.
42:31>> Good team.
42:32Charbonnet's hurt.
42:33>> Nice scheme fit.
42:33>> Charbonnet's hurt. Don't know when he's going to be back.
42:36Um I kind I'm kind of a sneaky a sneaky secret George Holani guy as you'll find out later on in this stream.
42:42>> Um, but yeah, I do think that there's obviously not a lot of competition in that backfield. Um, but Price definitely
42:49is is just I go back and forth. I go back and forth on him as a sixth-rounder.
42:53>> Um, my my charting profile for Price was basically incredible when he gets to the outside, but when he's in the tackle box, he gets
43:02brought down with ankle stabs a lot. So, I I would say tackle breaking inside uh the phone booth is is poor.
43:10Um, I'd go so far as to say poor. I think his tackle breaking inside the tackle box is poor. But, once he gets
43:16outside and once he gets some ahead of steam and once he gets that speed rolling, good luck. You know, this is a
43:22guy that once he gets outside, he's gone, right? So, um perfect for that wide zone scheme.
43:27Unfortunately, sometimes [clears throat] in these wide zones, man, like you got to make that cutback. And for me, I didn't see
43:36truly good cutback ability from Jahmyr Gibbs Price. So, um I was surprised he went in the first round.
43:43Um but the athletic tools and traits are certainly there. Um, and it's a good scheme fit overall. So, we'll see. Um,
43:49that's why I'm a little bit not gung-ho on Jahmyr Gibbs Price, but I I I could see a path for him to to
43:56really explode, especially in the early weeks if defenses taken for granted.
44:00>> History has not been kind to those like very late first-round running back picks.
44:05Um, and I think a lot of that is because they're just not like history's been really kind and the NFL's been really smart with the early running
44:12back picks. Like basically, you take a running back early, they're going to be awesome.
44:15They're going to smash.
44:17Um, but and I'm talking about in the NFL draft, not in fantasy, obviously. But, uh, those running backs have been really
44:22good. The guys in the back half, especially towards the end, very much hit or miss there and I think that's just cuz those guys get propped up in a
44:28kind of, "Hey, who are we going to take here? We need a running back. Let's go get one." Which, by the way, is
44:31basically exactly how the Charbonnet price situation happened. Seattle was begging, begging teams to trade out of that 32nd spot and they just were like,
44:39"Well, we're here. We need a back. We'll take Charbonnet price." So, I think that kind of like lessens the draft capital
44:44first round pick argument a little bit, but still, uh, he is a first round pick for this team. I I'd want to know what,
44:49uh, Charbonnet's peptide routine is because, man, if he could get back earlier than expected, you know, uh, thanks to some some peptide magic, I
44:58would be curious into drafting Zach Charbonnet [laughter] this year, but alas, very late ACL tear for him.
45:04>> Yeah, super late in the season. So, I I don't see him much of an impact, um, this season. I don't know. Maybe he
45:09does. Maybe like in the back half of the year, maybe he does, but >> [clears throat] >> overall, I don't like I said, I First of
45:15all, Zach Charbonnet is a fine player. I don't think he's great. I know he's I actually think he's really bad for
45:20outside zone, so I don't know. We'll see. We'll see what's going on.
45:23>> I'm a I'm a Charbonnet sicko cuz I have like a a coach's mindset when it comes to running backs, which is like, "Just
45:29don't screw it up and get on base and let's keep this on schedule." So, this is the type of back I like. Yeah, that's
45:33Charbonnet. So, >> [laughter] >> this is the type of back I like. All right.
45:36Let's go to round seven here.
45:38>> Yep.
45:38>> Quarterbacks a plenty in this round. Uh, we've got five quarterbacks to go off the board including to your boy here,
45:44Jalen Hurts, uh, at 76 overall, pretty close in line with ADP and obviously, I'm able to get one stack here as I took
45:51Devonta Smith earlier, so that's why I went, uh, with Jalen Hurts, you know, and, uh, yeah, that's that's pretty much like my
45:58only pick. I'm not like, "Oh boy, Jalen Hurts." anything. That's just my big reason there get the get the stack in
46:02the middle of the quarterback run here.
46:04But, we do have some other receivers to talk about. Chris Godwin, Michael Wilson, Alec Pierce, Quentin Johnston, and Courtland Sutton. I think this is
46:11where you do start to feel once you get into the 40s at receiver, like the wide receiver 40s range, I do think you start
46:17to feel the drop-off kind of coming here.
46:21I think Godwin, Wilson, and Pierce, and even Johnston to a degree, are fine picks. They're a guys I would have ahead
46:28of some of the ones that went here, but I do think once you get into this range of the draft, you start to feel a little
46:33bit like, "Oh, man, you know, receiver's starting to dry up a little." And I do think, as I've said, like once you get
46:37to the Courtland Sutton zone, as he goes at the end of the round here, this is where we see like obviously Courtland Sutton has a really
46:46good projectable floor, but when, you know, spoiler alert, you get into like rounds eight and nine, and you see some of the receivers there, you can't tell
46:53me like his ceiling is any higher than some of these guys here, even if the floor is higher for Sutton. So, this is
46:59generally where round seven of these like kind of more best ball drafts, I'd say round eight in your traditional redraft league, this is where you're
47:05going to start to feel receiver dry up a little bit.
47:08>> Yeah, I I agree. I think of these wide receivers, it feels like a lot of them have question marks. You would like Alec
47:15Pierce the best, honestly.
47:17Um if if he wasn't coming off of an a late off season ankle surgery, right?
47:22So, uh that part makes it a little bit dicey. I don't know, man. Godwin Jr.
47:26might just end up being like the most reliable guy in this whole room.
47:31I can And tell me if I'm wrong here, man. I could tell myself a story where Godwin ends up being the wide receiver
47:35one for Tampa Bay. Not like the clear-cut like, "Oh my god, he's going to have like 1,200 yards, and no one
47:40else is going to have 900." But, like, you know, could he have like 1,100, and there's like another guy with a
47:45thousand, and another guy with 800? I could I could kind of sort of tell myself a story in that regard.
47:52>> I think the likelier scenario would be if he's going to be the wide receiver one is that, yeah, he ends up with like
47:58950 and then everybody else like busts, basically. I think Godwin is much more likely to I think it it for him to be the one it
48:08means that Abuka failed, basically.
48:11Um, you know, I think that would have to be the case cuz I don't know, man. I look, I like Godwin
48:15a lot and obviously he projects well as the number two receiver here and he was, you know, relatively productive last but
48:21he was not very good like especially once he got back like in isolation last year. I haven't done the later season
48:28charting on him to see if it improved but obviously he was coming off of a major injury and he just, you know, at this point in
48:34his career is not going to go like this. It's probably closer to go like this. So, I do think he's wouldn't
48:40call him like a risky pick in the seventh round but yeah, he's kind of a little bit of that same thing. We're
48:44better floor but you can't I don't know that the ceiling is all that high.
48:48>> All right, let's go to round eight.
48:50>> Yeah, round eight here and I end up with Jonathan Brooks as we talked about it at the top. This was
48:55like, all right, I'm I'm locked in. I need a running back three here. I only have Derrick Henry and Quintez Say
49:00Jadkins and at this point I've taken Jalen Hurts. I think when you do a format like this you know, you kind of have to pick one
49:08or the other between tight end and quarterback that you're going to kind of punt one because I ended up going with
49:14the uh the stack there with Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith. I end up kind of punting tight end. We'll get to that later on.
49:21Not total punt but you know, whatever.
49:23Um, so locked in a running back here. I actually kind of full PPR I would have really liked Kenny Gainwell in this
49:28spot. He goes and I would have kind of maybe thought about him over Jonathan Brooks.
49:32But Brooks has a I do think Brooks has like a high ceiling. He could be like a total >> Totally agree.
49:37>> total like zero though. That's obviously the problem here is my running like truly the floor is is an absolute zero
49:44from Brooks which is basically what he's been throughout his NFL career but I do think like man, if he is the guy not
49:52even the guy but if he splits with Chuba Hubbard, I think he fits in this kind of world where you know, we've been talking about the
49:59Panthers maybe being more spread out, all these multiple receivers, get a lot of eligibles out there. I do think Brooks kind of fits that style
50:05of offense like a gun-based run game.
50:07But yeah, he's like a real home run swing here that could really make this team or ultimately be the reason that it
50:13it kind of sucks.
50:14>> It still felt like you took him, I don't know, a little like a round early here.
50:18Who else is out there? So, give me the full >> I mean, it's not great, bro. Like it's JK Dobbins was the next back, I think.
50:26Uh Rico Dowdle. Like Dowdle to one once you get to Dowdle, you're like, I mean here's the thing. Like definitely I think JK Dobbins is a total his floor
50:35is a total zero, too.
50:37>> I agree.
50:38>> You know, with injuries. So, yeah, it's just and then once you get into round 10, Quorum is not I think Quorum is a
50:43better maybe this doesn't make any sense, but to me he feels like a better seasonal pick than a than a best ball pick
50:50because he actually does give you some stand-alone value as a what the heck flex. Uh and then obviously you have a
50:55massive ceiling if Kyren Williams was to get hurt. Uh but yeah, I guess he's interesting versus Brooks.
51:01But yeah, I I probably prefer Brooks as a ninth round pick than a uh than an eighth round pick, but the reality is I
51:05needed a running back and it was it was getting pretty late early.
51:08>> But that being said, like I'm surprised you again, you could have gone Pearsall there and you love Pearsall.
51:16>> Well, yeah, spoiler alert. We'll just keep this up here.
51:18>> Yeah.
51:19>> I mean, there was like a there was a threesome that I was just waiting for.
51:23>> Yeah.
51:23>> Pause. Uh but yeah, >> [laughter] >> I was like, all right. Well, at my next pick, I'm going to I was like, I'm going
51:28to go with running back here cuz ultimately at my next pick, I will definitely end up with one of Jayden Reed, Josh Downs, or Ricky Pearsall. And
51:36they all went right >> [laughter] >> before my pick at 9.4. So, yeah, um I end up going with Michael Pittman because you know what?
51:46we just did the segment about [laughter] boring wide receiver picks to fill your weeks.
51:52And look, I mean, dude, freaking DK Metcalf went in round six. I get Pittman around nine. I think Pittman could straight up, especially in a PPR format,
52:00outscore DK Metcalf. So, I did feel fine with the value here, but yeah, I would be lying if I didn't [laughter] say that
52:06in my head, this was the spot where I was like, "I hate myself. I just truly, truly hate everything about myself."
52:13Then I was like, "I'll take Jonathan Brooks here because I think that um in on the swing back in round nine, I'mma
52:18get one of Reed, Downs, Pearsall, which I think for this build and and as my wide receiver five makes a little bit
52:25more sense than the steady Eddie Michael Pittman fills fills in my spot, but you know, God, it didn't happen. I suck. I
52:33didn't end up with Downs, Pearsall, or Reed. They went right before me.
52:37>> I think this is a good lesson though, right? Like go get your guy, man. Like especially after you get outside like
52:42the top like seven or eight picks. Don't you you know what I mean? Like I think I think just go get your dude, you know?
52:47Um >> I mean, Brooks is kind of I I'm going to kind of be a Jonathan Brooks guy this year. I'm just going to go ahead and say
52:51that. So, like he's kind of a my guy pickish here. Um just kind of Yeah, okay, kind of, but you can't tell me
52:57he's more of your guy than Josh Downs or Ricky Pearsall, bro. Come on.
53:02Do you know I've been There's a one a dynasty team I have that I took Jonathan Brooks in the first round and I've just
53:07been like burning a hole in my IR spot with him. So, like I am actually really emotionally invested in this happening
53:12uh for Jonathan Brooks, but um Yeah, you're right, obviously with with Downs, Reed, or Pearsall for sure. And by the way, this Reed, Downs, Pearsall I've
53:21just I'm a freaking broken clock or broken record or whatever. I mean, I I love the I love these guys. I'm going to be ahead I'm
53:28They're all going to be in inside my top 40 receivers. And I think there's a real chance and I I would throw Pittman in
53:34here, too, just because I've been a long time Pittman guy and I I just said it about him and Metcalf. Like I actually
53:39think there are a a of multiverses where Reed outscores Watson, Downs outscores Pierce, Pearsall outscores Evans, but that probably involves an Evans injury,
53:49and Pittman outscores Metcalf. I like all four of those picks. I just think that the the one I was going to be like
53:57I whatever. That was Pittman, which is the one I ended up with.
54:02>> [laughter] >> There you go.
54:04Like I said, you would have been much happier as a person and as an analyst if you had taken Reed, Downs, or Pearsall there, and then
54:12on the on the scoop back took Jonathan Brooks, you know?
54:14>> Who cares about my happiness? I mean >> [laughter] >> it's it's fleeting. Happiness is fleeting anyways.
54:21Um but anyways, so here we are with the rest of the ninth round. Like I said, this is a lot more quarterbacks here. Uh I
54:27wasn't quite ready to take a quarterback two in the ninth round, so I was okay seeing uh some of these names go off the
54:32board. And I think they're all fine ninth round picks. This is the other than Mahomes. I'm probably not taking Mahomes this year, but you know, Murray,
54:38Goff, Purdy This is why I like I don't really love to take especially in in a redraft league. I don't really love to take
54:45uh like an early quarterback, and I've been more of an early quarterback I previously cuz I think you can cobble together a pretty good quarterback room
54:50this year with these type of guys. Uh >> Passing numbers are down, man. Attempts are down. Like, you know, it's the it's
54:58it's all getting scrunched together, you know? It's like if you show me a guy that's going to get me, you know,
55:04I don't know, 700 attempts or something.
55:06That might actually be Dak Prescott, but it's like 700 attempts, uh okay, but I mean it there's so many other people
55:12that are going to be in between that like 550 650 range. It's just I don't know, man. Like I we don't talk
55:18about volume for quarterbacks enough, honestly.
55:21Um and and volume overall passing volume league-wide has gone way down, so and I think I see that trend continuing.
55:29>> Yeah, I I am with you. Um as we get here into the 10th round, uh just again, want to remind people we're partnering with
55:36DraftKings. You you can check out our promo code. It's in the description below, so you can sign up with that.
55:42Code is RP Matt. So, uh there you go.
55:44Shout out to DraftKings. Appreciate the partnership with them. 10th round here is where I did ultimately get my tight end pick. Uh 10.9, I got Isaiah Likely.
55:53Isaiah Likely is definitely going to be a non-wide receiver my guy for me this year. Uh second contract tight end, coach who knows him, and a banged-up
56:01wide receiver room.
56:02>> Exactly.
56:02>> So, yeah, he's you you just want to with the tight end, you're going later round, you want to just kind of be able to
56:08squint and see how this guy is second or first on his team in targets, and I think there's a real scenario where he's
56:13at least second on the team in targets this year with that wide receiver room.
56:16>> I don't know. Call me crazy. I like Likely more than Kelse and Kittle. I mean, Kittle coming off of the freaking
56:21Achilles, and Kelsey is a million years old, and he's got one foot in the grave with Taylor Swift. Like, I don't know.
56:26Like, give me Likely.
56:28>> Yeah, I mean, give me anyone who didn't get married at Madison Square Garden.
56:30What a ridiculous charade that was. Um but, yeah, I I very uh Kittle's like here, here, here, here.
56:38Like, it's either going to be a great pick in the 10th round, or it's going to be terrible, and it all depends kind of
56:42on again, what peptides is George Kittle taking right now for this weird Achilles injury.
56:48>> Donahue hates Jackson Dart. He's talked to Dart.
56:52>> [ __ ] He Who hates who more? You, David Montgomery, or Donahue, Jackson Dart?
56:59>> Jackson Dart. Yeah, I'm not sure, but okay, so I guess the the counterpoint to this though is you're saying that Jackson
57:05Dart's not good, uh Donahue, but and and again, regardless of what you feel about with Jackson Dart, if you honestly feel like
57:12he's not good, then taking a tight end actually makes more sense because he can't actually throw real routes to wide receivers, right? So, like, you're going
57:20to get a lot of this like check-down stuff, like sit in the zone, like, you know, little seam passes, pocket passes
57:26here and there.
57:27Um I don't like and again, when they get into that red zone area, Isaiah Likely has clearly shown uh especially with
57:33Harbaugh. Harbaugh loves to use him in the red zone. So, I don't know if you actually think Jackson Dart's not good,
57:39which again, I I'm not going to sit here and argue with you on that cuz again, his tape was super mixed.
57:46But, if you don't think he's that good, I actually would say that actually strengthens the Isaiah Likely argument that, you know, again, he can get out
57:53there and get those easy passes, you know?
57:56>> Most importantly here is that he notes his first name is pronounced Shawn and I'm pretty like it's Shawn and I'm pretty sure buddy you sent in a note
58:05at one of the questions for the our most recent mailbag on the YouTube channel and I I thought I think I guessed that
58:09it was pronounced Shawn. So, >> Oh, I like it.
58:12>> that's what the real win here is that I actually pronounced his name correctly cuz I do feel like [ __ ] when I
58:17mispronounce people's names. I actually don't like to do that. It irritates me when podcasters just like, "Well, how do you pronounce this guy's name?" And I
58:24say that knowing that my name is Matt, you know, like >> [laughter] >> Enough already with Matts. We got we got
58:33more than enough. We don't need any more Matts in in the world. Okay, so, did think a little bit about Malik Willis in
58:39round 10 by the way is like, "Hey, I don't have to stack his ass with anybody, that's for sure." Although, we'll come back to that. I did take a
58:45dolphin at one point and I that was the pick I really hated. But anyways, okay.
58:50So, round 11 I did actually take a quarterback. I went with my second quarterback Bo Nix who I do think is a guy that you can take
58:57without stacking and everything like that cuz he's going to give you some rushing upside. So, he's my number two quarterback here.
59:03It's fine. Whatever. Not too >> Don't hate it.
59:06>> Don't hate it. Did I did think I did think Coker here, okay, round 11. Really really wanted to take Coker.
59:14>> Uh eyebrow raised here. Why why not Coker?
59:18>> I know.
59:19I know. I hate it.
59:21>> [laughter] >> I didn't like it. This again, we're we're in the double digit rounds, man. Pretty much all the way from ninth
59:28ninth round all the way to 20. Remember, there's freaking 20 rounds here. So, we probably got to pick up the pace here.
59:32>> Yeah, we did. We did.
59:34>> [laughter] >> Yeah, I I I I hated the I I hated myself a lot rounds 9 through 20. This was definitely one of those
59:40where it's like I took Bo Nix. I could have just taken Jaylen Coker. But, in fairness to me, >> Yes.
59:46>> quarterback does dry up pretty quickly here.
59:49I guess I could have I would have ended up like having C.J. Stroud and like these guys staring me in the face. Yeah,
59:55C.J. Stroud, Daniel Jones, and like Mendoza, Rodgers. So, this was kind of a last moment for me to end up getting
60:02a QB2 in this one here.
60:04>> Actually, you're right. The way that it kind of lays out later, it gets ugly quick.
60:09>> It gets ugly quick, dude. Yeah, that's This is the thing like I this whole bucket of like Murray to Schuck, really, I think is is
60:19attractive, especially in seasonal leagues and and even best balls like your QB2, whatever. But, god, man, it gets pretty rough pretty quick
60:28with with quarterback there. So, so Nix was the last guy I think that I was like, I feel comfortable. I'm going to
60:32go ahead and do it here cuz I didn't want to be staring at like I would have I would have been actually
60:36okay with Sam Darnold as a QB2, but once we get to Stroud and like Daniel Jones, it gets a little rough a little quick.
60:42>> Yeah, no, it dry You're right. It does dry up very very quickly.
60:46>> You know what? Special special shout out to Tate Two Great, by the way. And we've we've referenced her team several times.
60:51They want one of these three running backs. I was like, ooh, these three receiver picks, you know, Washington as your two's a little little dicey.
60:57>> Mhm.
60:58>> He does the classic hit it in the fairway Wan'Dale Robinson boring pick, and then go and Casey Concepcion and Jaylen Coker back-to-back in 11 and 10.
61:07I love that. So, that's a good pick.
61:09That's a good pick good set of picks by them if we're looking at wide receivers here.
61:13>> Uh yeah, 100%. Okay. By the way, this is your first draft, right? Like your first like draft draft?
61:19>> No.
61:20>> Oh, it's not.
61:21>> No. no.
61:22>> I don't know.
61:23>> [laughter] >> It's only It's It's only July 14th, dude. I don't know.
61:27>> I got a live Scott Fish Bowl draft in Richmond uh this weekend. So >> Oh, nice.
61:32>> Yeah, it's going to be fun.
61:33>> I actually have to drop out of Scott Fish, man. I'm just too busy.
61:36>> I get it. You're busy, man. You I mean, you How can you draft a How can you draft Scott Fish Bowl team when you're
61:40literally doing radio for 6 hours a day?
61:43So >> Every single day, which is incredible.
61:46>> Good question here. Does CMC have an edge in Best Ball if he stays healthy RB1 every week? Uh you know, he liked
61:51him over Puka. Uh we talked about some of the JSN regression a little bit as well. Yeah, I did think Would you Would
61:57you take CMC over Puka? Feels like you're going to say no cuz you're coward, but Yeah, I did at least think
62:02about it.
62:03>> I'm a coward.
62:03>> I get it.
62:05>> [laughter] >> I I I don't know if he really I mean, the thing is does he have an edge in
62:08Best Ball? It's like If he stays healthy, he's the RB1 overall. Like that's the thing.
62:13That's the deal with CMC. The The The ceiling is he's the best player in fantasy. The floor is he's a zero cuz he
62:19is hurt. And I I mean, it just I get that, but at the same time I'm still taking him. If I had the fifth
62:25pick, I would have taken him over JSN.
62:27>> Yeah, I think it's just a matter of okay, his efficiency tanked last year and also the the 400-plus touches, right? Like what did he end up with?
62:35Like 450 touches or something crazy like that. So I don't know, man. Like generally those don't work and his efficiency was
62:43already really really bad last year.
62:45Receiving efficiency notwithstanding, but you know, his his efficiency on the ground was was not good. So I don't know, we'll see.
62:53>> It's It sticks with me, too. If we're talking about like how I can't get out of my head Treyveon Henderson, you know,
62:57being shelved by the Patriots and the other thing I can't get out of my head is Christian McCaffrey talking about this is the hardest year of his life.
63:06Like last year. And I asked him about that in February. By the way, look for the Christian McCaffrey Matt Harmon podcast here shortly. Like once he
63:14retires cuz that sounds like a guy who's like he's he's he's he's he's got one eye on like what's next, you know? All
63:20right, which is, you know, hopefully doing podcast with me.
63:24We'll talk about [laughter] that.
63:24Anyways, but yeah, I do think he's still a guy I would take it I would take fifth overall as well. These these tight end picks to
63:30end this round are interesting, too.
63:32Cheque Kounkou as a tight end two, I think is pretty interesting in the 11th round. I just wanted to notice that
63:37before we go to round 12 where I took Jalen McMillan, another guy that we highlighted in one of our best ball
63:44videos this I think is a really good spike week player and I like his ability to I like the ability he showed last year to separate
63:52against man coverage on downfield routes. So, you punch him into the player comparison tool on the side, you're going to see a
63:58lot of kind of like volatile downfield receivers.
64:02I kind of like him in a best ball format. I'm I'm obviously receiver heavy on this one. What are you going to do?
64:06It's me. So, yeah, that was kind of the thought process there.
64:10>> I'm going to I'm not going to lie to you. I think I like a lot of these picks in round 12. Rashid Shaheed at the top
64:16of round 12, feels really good. Again, we talked about him in our spike week video, right? So, that's really good. I don't
64:24like the Diggs pick.
64:26Mostly cuz I don't even I again, he's got so many things going on. I I don't know if he actually gets signed. Using a
64:3112th round pick on a guy that even if he gets into camp somewhere, even if he get latches onto a team, is no better than your wide
64:39receiver two.
64:41That and at at at the absolute best, he's a wide receiver two for whatever team is going to be out there. And I
64:47just feels like I don't even I don't even see the upside in in terms of, you know, a round 12 pick, honestly. So,
64:54>> He was still good last year, man. He was still really good last year, so >> Even even but even last year in New
64:58England, he was a part-time player, right? So, like I don't know.
65:02That's probably the only pick I kind of sort of don't like. Every other pick I actually like. Woody Marks here in in
65:08round 12. Dallas Goedert in round 12, I think is really good tight end value.
65:13Um you got the quarterbacks here. Tyron Tracy?
65:16Shoot, man. Like what's up with Cam Skottabo? I mean, we're just all assuming Cam Skottabo's nice and like good and healthy, dude. Tracy like like
65:22I said, charted out really well.
65:24Tyron Tracy's a good ball player. So, I think him getting him in round 12 is really good, too. I like your I like
65:30your pick of Jaylen McMillan. Shoot, there's a lot to like here in round 12.
65:34>> I like the I like the Nailer. The only one I and I'm with the Scribbles here.
65:37De'Quan Jennings is just like what's the point? You know what I mean? He's Yeah, to me that's like 12th round is way too
65:42early for him.
65:43>> I agree.
65:43>> Um but, you know, that's like a name pick, I think, at that point. But, yeah, Nailer he's got some uh you know, downfield ability for sure
65:52and uh as well as McMillan. So, if we go into round three, this is By the way, that was like the 12th round was all of
65:57the guy a bunch of the guys in our Spike Week videos, like Jaylen Nailer, Jaylen McMillan, and Rashid Shaheed. Uh I'm
66:04sure there were others, too, but yeah, those were a couple. So, okay, round 13.
66:07>> Ooh, the tight end round.
66:09>> Yeah, and this is where again, it was it was getting a little we're we're getting a little run here on
66:14tight ends. I took Greg Dulcich Dulcich, which is just like the dumbest pick in the world. Um >> [laughter] >> it's just a such a
66:23>> What are we What are we Did you get Did you get um tilted cuz Charbonnet went picked before you?
66:28>> No, no. I really actually really wanted Strange and >> Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
66:32No, it's a great Strange in round 13 is a [ __ ] bargain, dude. Come on.
66:36>> I wanted Strange. I actually really wanted Chris Rodriguez here, and I chickened out last minute cuz I do think Although C-Rod is hurt, uh Chris
66:44Rodriguez has like a foot has like I think it's a foot injury right now that he's been dealing with or something. He
66:49So, he hasn't really been practicing with the team. That's actually the guy I probably should have taken is like him or Keaton Mitchell, cuz I still needed
66:55some running back depth, but I also did want um a tight end, too, to go along with Isaiah Likely.
67:01>> Mhm.
67:01>> And I ended up taking Greg Dulcich, which is just like the biggest What's What's the point? It's like it's his third NFL team. I know he was like
67:09efficient on a per route basis last year which I was like looking up those numbers recently. I was like, oh wow,
67:13Greg Dulcich was actually pretty useful for the like on a on a per route basis on the the Dolphins who didn't even run
67:19any plays last year. He'll probably be nothing. I mean, he'll probably be a total total nothing. I absolutely uh hate this pick, but uh it is a pick that
67:27I made.
67:28>> [laughter] >> Uh show me the rest of the draft board, man, cuz I'm I probably I'm with you. I I I don't love the the Dulcich pick
67:36here.
67:37Um I'll tell you what, you take a look at the rest of the board here.
67:40Um you like Ryan Flou- Flower noid, too, right? Like that's a that's a player that >> but I got enough I got enough receivers.
67:47And and again, there's some guys I like in round seven. I was like, I can't take a receiver. I got to stop. I got to
67:52stop. I was like, I got to stop. I was like, [laughter] I got to I was like, I can't I got to stop. So,
67:55um yeah. Again, we're getting into kind of some some boring ass ranges here and everything, but um yeah. We can actually just keep the
68:03full board up here to Yeah, I was just Yeah, we don't need to go round by round. The rest of my team, if we just
68:08want to hit this uh and then we can talk about the [ __ ] banger >> pick in 14, dude. Like what a pick.
68:14>> I hated myself a little bit less for the Dulcich nonsense after after my next three picks, honestly.
68:21Even Alvin Kamara, again, I kind of hated myself for clicking Alvin Kamara in round 15, but I'm like, dude, if he's
68:26on the Saints, like he's going to be better than a round 15 value. And then A.J. Barner, like A.J. Barner is
68:32actually a better lower pick than Greg Dulcich in the >> That's what I'm saying, bro.
68:36>> [laughter] >> That's what I'm saying. What What are you doing Greg Dulcich for, dude?
68:40>> I know. I know. I know. It was such like a It was such a goofball pick, Greg Dulcich, but yeah, I mean,
68:47whatever. Maybe if I'd gone Gadson over Dulcich for bestball, uh I think that would be J.C. said that that's that would Yeah, that would make sense. But
68:54anyways, Barner he's going to give you weeks, man. He's a good player. Whole deal. So, yeah, I mean, even even like
69:01uh Colby Parkinson I thought about there, too. Like, Terrance Ferguson.
69:05There is for for Best Ball purposes, obviously not for seasonal, but like these guys are going to be in like there's some decent depth at this tight
69:11end position. Obviously, the fall out of teams playing more tight ends and the whole deal. So, these guys are Parkinson, Schultz, Terrance Ferguson,
69:19Kylen, like A.J. Brown. These guys are going to give you some weeks. And yes, to be clear, this was a fast draft, not a slow draft.
69:26>> Yeah.
69:27Yeah.
69:28Okay, so you go so good. Squarest.
69:31Look at the path to tart. Yeah, it's exactly right. That's what I told myself all night as I cried myself to sleep.
69:36Look at the path to tart.
69:38>> [laughter] >> Uh but no, you you Yeah, the the Coleman pick around after is a banger.
69:44Um when you start getting late Oh, you got you picked up your guy Jaylen Nowell.
69:48>> Exactly. Like, Nowell round 17, Jaden Higgins went round 11, which I think Jaden Higgins in round 11 is totally fine, but man, Nowell's getting buried.
69:55Dude, Tank Dell went in the 15th round.
69:57I don't even know if Tank Dell's going to play football this year.
69:59>> Okay.
70:00>> Yeah, Nowell's just going so so late.
70:02Like, listen, even if you're not a Jaylen Nowell fan, and obviously I I like Nowell as a prospect.
70:07>> Yeah.
70:07>> I think he should at least be like a 15th round pick in Best Ball. Deebo Samuel's not even signed. Darnell
70:13Mooney, like these guys By the way, damn, look at Jerry Jeudy in the 16th round. Woof. Um yeah, I I think
70:20it seems like nobody's into Nowell in fantasy this year. So, yeah, he's going to be just like a late round pick for me
70:25in Best Ball. He hangs out in that range all day long, man.
70:29>> And then I like your George Holani pick, too, because again, Charbonnet's late, right? Coming back.
70:34Uh he's going to be injured. Uh Holani's going to be in there.
70:38>> The Holani [laughter] hive.
70:39Holani's going to be in there getting some banger carries, man. Like, early down work.
70:44>> They Dude, they they trusted him in pass protection in the Super Bowl cuz they didn't have Cam Akers. They're not going
70:48to do it. Come on, man.
70:49>> No, [clears throat] absolutely. No, I like that pick, too, especially cuz you got him so so late. Elijah Sorat and
70:54then Come on, man. Jahan Dotson.
70:56>> Jahan Dotson. I had to do it. Dude, what a pick! What a pick! I love that pick.
71:01In round 20, bro? Come on, dude. That's awesome.
71:04>> Round 17, Zachariah Branch goes off. Uh yeah, listen, Jahan Dotson, okay? You see the Falcons who is God, it was
71:12Falcons coaches said there was like there we think there's more No, Jahan Dotson said there's more to me than what the Commanders and
71:18Eagles got out of me. I'm like, me too, Jahan. I do I believe it as well.
71:22>> [laughter] >> Um Yeah, so I I listen on I'm I'm still holding out the candle, keeping the candle lit for Jahan Dotson. I think
71:29people in the comments were saying that Steve Smith had him really high in his dynasty rankings. I don't know about that. I haven't I haven't I haven't
71:35checked that out, but you know, good to see that the Steve Smith is with me on Jahan Dotson being a wiggle some something cuz yeah, man,
71:4120th round on him felt good. And like I said, simply for the brand, it was either going to be Rashad Bateman or Jahan Dotson around
71:5020. And I'm telling you, I mean, he either those guys, if they're the number two receivers on their team, which right
71:54now they they are the number two receivers on their respective teams, they're going to give you good value in the 20th round. And that is a that is a
72:00that is a unfiltered, not my therapist won't allow me to say it, but I said it approved take here in hour 20 or hour 12
72:08into the best ball stream.
72:09>> It feels like to me, Drake I mean, again, I'm just projecting out, but like Drake London moving around, but you know, being your
72:16outside guy, Jahan Dotson being your outside flanker dude. And then I know they spent pretty good draft capital on Zach Branch, but
72:25he feels like the guy that would take over the the the Zecharias spot, no?
72:30>> Yeah, clear out stuff, designer touches.
72:34>> [gasps] >> You know, I think he's got a long way to go to being a receiver otherwise.
72:38>> Right.
72:39>> Not a useless player by any means, not a bad player by any means, but >> Special teamers, too.
72:43>> Just some gaps in his game where I do think I mean, Jahan was like a decent player.
72:48I mean, maybe a little maybe a a I would definitely overrated the film a little bit. His first year wasn't fully
72:53complete, but not a useless player I think by any means. Uh and the per route stuff is definitely just depressed cuz he played
73:00with freaking A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith.
73:01I like Jahan Dotson. I'm not throwing Jahan Dotson the ball when I've got those two guys either.
73:06>> Yeah. No, no, for sure. But again, taking Dotson here in the 20th round, I think is just great, great, great, great
73:12value. Okay, so overall, uh let's take a look at your team overall.
73:17>> Yes. By the way, I I I did think I did think Aiyuk and then P. Ryan finishing this thing up is hilarious. You know, P.
73:24Ryan being the last pick like is so funny. Just what a classic like he's going to score points, I guess. I guess.
73:30Uh so, all right. Yeah, again, two quarterbacks, three tight ends, five backs, uh eight receivers. Eight receivers might have been a little much,
73:38but Dotson pick at the end to close it out had to be done for the brand. It's fine.
73:45Um but yeah, I definitely I would say that the things I hated the most uh was [clears throat] getting >> [laughter]
73:53>> getting lapped for my guys uh Reed, Pearsall, and Downs, and settling for Pittman who didn't really fit this team build as the fifth receiver. I think if
74:03it was a more of a running back heavy team, it would have been better. Uh and then the I was I saved my ass by getting
74:08A.J. Barner cuz that's more of a ball knower tight end two pick than Greg Dulcich which in round 13 felt a little
74:14like yeah, I mean, Greg Dulcich sneak him in round 15, 16.
74:18>> That's cool. 14 probably a little much.
74:22>> Yeah.
74:22>> [clears throat] >> Um I think the running back room is is good. Probably not great. Obviously, >> Volatile. It's volatile.
74:28>> Yeah, it's really volatile. And you crushed in the wide receiver spot. And uh and I like your tight ends, too. So,
74:34like by the way, I know we're making fun of the Dulcich pick, but again, like if we just said forget about
74:40value or forget about what round you took him in. I didn't like the round you took him in, but again, if you took him
74:44later like 17 or 18, I think it's fine, right? Like again, he could walk into some volume. He's overall a good
74:50athlete. He just can't stay healthy.
74:53And yeah, that's the reason why he didn't work out in Denver, right? So, like, if Greg Dulcich can stay healthy and, you know, do do some things. I
75:01don't know. Like, I don't I don't hate it. Like, if we're looking at just spike weeks, I think there there's definitely
75:05a path for Dulcich to have some spike weeks, too.
75:08>> Yeah, I think so. And he's just he's going to find his way into production and overall um He did He did pop a little bit last year. So,
75:19yeah. He'll he'll have moments, but got to Okay, give me one favorite least favorite pick before we close this thing out of here from from my team.
75:28>> Favorite [clears throat] pick for me is probably I like Let me look here.
75:35Um Cuz I'm trying to like remember where you took these guys, too.
75:40Um I think my favorite pick probably might be Derrick Henry. I mean, I know it's an early pick, but you got him so
75:46like late relative to where I would think that he would go, you know?
75:50Um and that I think helped carry your running back bill, too, which is great.
75:56>> Yeah.
75:57>> I also agree with um Jace if that Bo Nix as your quarterback two is such a freaking like >> Yeah, I like that one. And especially
76:06cuz of what happened afterwards, it was definitely good. But yeah, I did like the Brooks pick. It's just obviously it's a home run or it's a strikeout, I
76:15think, pretty much for Brooks. But yeah, overall felt like it was a good team.
76:18And again, it's July, so we learned a lot from this one and we'll definitely do at least one more stream for
