Anthony Richardson

NegativeInjury29:29

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is facing a misdemeanor charge for possessing marijuana after being pulled over on October 12th. The Colts acknowledged the situation but offered no further comment. This adds to an already tumultuous season for the Colts, who just fired their GM after a loss to the Titans and are now facing the unbeaten Vikings in Minnesota.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

PositiveInjury5:18

Baker Mayfield is cleared to return for the Buccaneers after missing the last three games with a dislocated thumb. He practiced fully this week while wearing a custom protective glove designed with help from the Tampa Bay Rays equipment staff to prevent the thumb from bending too far backward. Todd Bowles confirmed he is ready to go for Sunday's game against Carolina.

Insight page

Bo Nix

NegativeProjection41:31

Bo Nix is averaging under six air yards per attempt this season, the worst in the NFL, indicating significant inconsistency in his passing game and offensive execution.

Insight page

Brandin Cooks

NegativeRole25:19

Brandon Cooks will be part of the 49ers' receiving corps on Sunday against Atlanta; with Deebo Samuel and Mike Evans both out, Cooks, Christian Kirk, and George Kittle will be the primary receiving options for Brock Purdy.

Insight page

Breece Hall

NegativeInjury43:20

Breece Hall, the Jets running back, has been out with a quad injury and practiced on a limited basis this week; the team will take the decision on his availability all the way up to game time and he is listed as questionable.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

NegativeRole30:51

Brian Thomas Jr. has been benched by Jacksonville, playing just 15 snaps last week in London and failing to catch a pass in the last two weeks; the source reports that several teams believe Thomas Jr. is now available for trade, with the Chiefs and Steelers among potential suitors, as Jacksonville has been unable to consistently utilize him as the deep threat they envisioned to open up other receivers.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveInjury15:26

Brock Bowers was limited earlier in the week with hamstring and calf issues but was a full participant in practice, clearing him to play for the Raiders against the Rams. He remains a huge part of the Raiders' passing game with Kirk Cousins, and the team is sitting at 3-3 while moving the ball effectively.

Insight page
PositiveInjury26:47

Brock Bowers is dealing with both a hamstring injury and a calf injury but is expected to play in the Raiders-Rams matchup. Despite the dual injury concerns, his expected availability suggests he will be active for the game.

Insight page

Brock Purdy

PositiveProjection24:23

Brock Purdy has his 49ers unbeaten with 17 total touchdowns and just two interceptions this year; he is the second player in NFL history to have 15 or more touchdowns and two or fewer turnovers in a 6-0 start, joining Tom Brady in that elite company.

Insight page
NegativeMatchup26:19

Brock Purdy faces challenges with the 49ers' receiving corps missing Deebo Samuel and Mike Evans; instead relying on Brandon Cooks, Christian Kirk, and George Kittle. The source notes it will be fascinating to see if the 49ers can keep their division-leading performance going without Evans right before the bye week.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection20:59

Bryce Young, the Panthers quarterback, is playing the best ball of his career as the Panthers position themselves to extend their lead in the NFC South division.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

PositiveProjection18:48

Caleb Williams threw a terrific dart to Rome Adunze for an incredible catch in the Bears' win over the Patriots. Williams finished 22 of 33 for 308 yards and two touchdowns in the game, leading the Bears to a 30-24 victory.

Insight page

Christian Kirk

PositiveRole24:40

Christian Kirk is expected to make his season debut on Sunday against Atlanta; with Deebo Samuel and Mike Evans both out, Kirk will be part of the 49ers' receiving corps alongside Brandon Cooks and George Kittle.

Insight page

Christian Watson

NegativeInjury29:02

Christian Watson was limited all week but is expected to play for the Packers against the Lions.

Insight page

Deebo Samuel

NegativeInjury24:40

Deebo Samuel is out for Sunday's game against Atlanta; without both Deebo and Mike Evans, the 49ers' receiving corps will rely on Brandon Cooks, Christian Kirk, and George Kittle, which presents challenges for Brock Purdy.

Insight page

Drake Maye

NegativeProjection22:10

Drake Maye played a fantastic game against the Bears but threw an unsightly interception into the end zone in the second quarter. This interception was the Patriots' 14th giveaway of the season, contributing to their minus-seven turnover differential. The Patriots have already exceeded their 16 total giveaways from all of last season.

Insight page

Drew Lock

PositiveRole23:38

Drew Locke has impressed both behind the scenes and when he's been in on game action; while there is no QB controversy right now, his performance is worth noting for the long term of the season as the Seahawks manage Sam Darnold's struggles.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

NegativeRole28:15

Fernando Mendoza is positioned as the eventual successor to Kirk Cousins in the Raiders' quarterback plan. The source suggests that if the Raiders lose their next two games and fall to 3-5 (five losses in a row), the team may transition to Mendoza regardless of Cousins' strong play; conversely, if the Raiders win and reach 5-3, Cousins likely keeps the starting role.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

NegativeUsage43:34

Garrett Wilson, the Jets' best player, has been a non-factor in several losses this season; the Jets coaching staff, including Frank Reich and Aaron Glenn, have emphasized the need to get the ball to Wilson more, with Glenn setting a reminder in his headset to ensure Wilson receives more targets.

Insight page

George Kittle

NegativeRole25:19

George Kittle will be a primary receiving option for Brock Purdy on Sunday; with Deebo Samuel and Mike Evans both out, Kittle is being used essentially as a receiver in the 49ers' offense.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

NegativeDepth Chart24:00

Jadarian Price, the Seahawks' first-round pick, is not in the lineup right now; the Seahawks were hoping to surround Sam Darnold with cleaner offensive conditions by featuring Price and eventually Zach Charbonnet, but neither are available, making it difficult to establish a run game.

Insight page

Jalin Moore

NegativeInjury22:45

Chiefs offensive lineman Jalen Moore remains in concussion protocol and is out for this week's game.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

NegativeValue30:00

The source reports that Jonathan Taylor is among the Colts' best players who could be moved at the trade deadline if Indianapolis loses its next two games against the Vikings and Jaguars; the team could trade him for draft capital as part of a potential fire sale, though the source notes it's too early to confirm whether the Colts will pursue such moves.

Insight page

Jordan Addison

PositiveInjury29:14

Jordan Addison is expected to play in the Vikings' matchup against the Colts, maintaining availability for the unbeaten Vikings' offense.

Insight page

Jordan Mason

NegativeInjury29:14

Jordan Mason is questionable for the Vikings' matchup against the Colts, creating uncertainty around his availability for the unbeaten Vikings' offense.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

PositiveRole29:02

Josh Jacobs is expected to return to the field for the Packers on Sunday after missing the first six games of the season on the commissioner's exempt list while the league investigated his offseason arrest for domestic abuse. The source reports Jacobs was able to do almost everything at practice this week and kept himself in good shape. While not expected to be in full football shape immediately, he should be ready to spark the Packers' run game, though the team may bring him along slowly.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveInjury29:14

Justin Jefferson is expected to play in the Vikings' matchup against the Colts, despite the Vikings being unbeaten and facing an injury-depleted Colts team missing cornerback L'Jarius Sneed and tight end Tyler Warren.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveProjection21:58

Kenneth Walker has 665 rushing yards in his first season with the Chiefs and is on pace to set the single-season rushing record; his signing is proving to be the off-season move of the year and is a key component of the Chiefs' number one ranked offense.

Insight page
NegativeUsage23:14

The Seahawks' run game is struggling, which is limiting Kenneth Walker's opportunity and effectiveness; the source notes the team really needs to use him right now given the offensive challenges.

Insight page

Kirk Cousins

PositiveProjection28:15

Kirk Cousins is playing great for the Raiders, tied for the league lead in touchdown passes with 14 and leading in passing yards with six. The source frames the Raiders' next two games (Rams and Jets) as a roadmap for determining whether Cousins keeps the starting role or if the team transitions to Fernando Mendoza; if the Raiders emerge with wins and reach 5-3, Cousins likely keeps the job regardless of how well he plays.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

NegativeInjury0:30

Lamar Jackson is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens after missing the last two games with a high ankle sprain suffered in week four. He returned to practice this week in limited fashion and has been progressing, though he was not a full participant. The source reports the decision on his status will likely come down to how he feels over the next 48 hours, with the possibility it could go until Sunday morning. A source told the outlet it's currently 50-50 whether he plays, and they are hopeful but not optimistic at this point.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup39:51

Lamar Jackson has won seven of his nine matchups against the Bengals, demonstrating strong historical performance in this division rivalry ahead of a crucial divisional game.

Insight page

Matthew Golden

NegativeInjury29:02

Matthew Golden was limited all week but is expected to play for the Packers against the Lions.

Insight page

Mike Evans

NegativeInjury13:45

Mike Evans has been declared out for this week's game despite the 49ers initially believing they could manage his Achilles tendonitis through the week. Kyle Shanahan's team wisely decided to give him rest rather than risk further injury.

Insight page
NegativeInjury24:40

Mike Evans is out for Sunday's game against Atlanta; he suffered Achilles tendonitis last week and was unable to finish the fourth quarter against the Commanders, and his absence raises legitimate questions about the 49ers' offensive efficiency without him.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveInjury23:27

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is healthy and available for the game against Seattle.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

NegativeInjury14:12

Puka Nakua is listed as questionable for the Rams with a calf injury. He did not practice at all today; the issue was not a calf strain but rather his inability to feel explosive off his calf during yesterday's practice. He will be tested before the game to determine his status.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeInjury22:21

Chiefs wide receiver Rasheed Rice is out once again with a hamstring injury suffered in week four; this will be the second game he misses due to the injury.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

PositiveUsage18:27

Ramondre Stevenson caught a dump-off pass from Drake Maye and turned it into a 48-yard touchdown with help from good blocking in the Patriots' game against the Bears. This play helped the Patriots cut into a 20-7 deficit, bringing them to within 20-14 at halftime.

Insight page

Rome Odunze

PositiveUsage18:52

Rome Adunze made an incredible catch on a terrific dart from Caleb Williams in the Bears' win over the Patriots, showcasing his receiving ability in the offense.

Insight page

Sam Darnold

NegativeProjection23:11

Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is struggling as a result of the team's struggling run game; despite this, the Seahawks are sticking with Darnold as their established, quality starting quarterback.

Insight page
NegativeProjection23:18

Sam Darnold has thrown seven interceptions over just five games, a really poor clip; the Seahawks are sticking with him despite this poor performance and the emergence of Drew Locke, who has impressed both behind the scenes and in game action.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveInjury17:02

Saquon Barkley was limited again at practice but is expected to return for the Eagles on Monday Night Football. The Eagles have lost other running backs including Ted Figley and Will Shipley to IR, making Barkley's return excellent news for Philadelphia's run game.

Insight page

Travis Kelce

PositiveInjury23:27

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is healthy and available for the game against Seattle.

Insight page

Xavier Worthy

PositiveInjury23:27

Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy is healthy and available for the game against Seattle.

Insight page

Zach Charbonnet

NegativeInjury15:56

Zach Charbonnet has been activated on the Seahawks roster after recovering from a torn ACL, but he will not play this week. Head coach Mike McDonald said Charbonnet is simply not ready yet. This is significant because the Seahawks' running game needs a boost to support Sam Darnold's play-action game, but Charbonnet could return in the coming weeks.

Insight page
NegativeInjury24:00

Zach Charbonnet is still coming back from a knee issue and is not in the lineup right now; the Seahawks were counting on him as part of their plan to establish a run game and provide cleaner offensive conditions for Sam Darnold.

0:07Lamar Jackson got in another practice, but the Ravens won't commit to him playing on Sunday.
0:12Baker is back. Can he save the buck season?
0:15Plus, we have our eyes on the stars. We got key injury updates for Sunday ahead.
0:20Happy Friday, everybody. You are watching The Insiders presented by Progressive Insurance.
0:24We got insiders Ian Rappaport, Judy Battista, Jeremy Fowler with you.
0:27I am Sarah Walsh, and we are starting off this Friday.
0:30With a huge AFC North showdown, Lamar Jackson is listed as questionable for Sunday.
0:34Still trying to work his way back from that week four high ankle sprain that's kept him out of the last two games.
0:42He returned to the practice field for the first time since that injury this week, practicing in limited fashion.
0:47Jesse Minter on his status. You know, I think we're still working through that, but he's been able to get some work in these last couple days.
0:56And, you know, we'll, again, you know, between Lamar and our staff and us, like it's going to be a decision based
1:02on him and how he feels and how effective and things like that feel like it could be.
1:08So, he's had a good couple days, but we'll see how it goes over the next 48 hours.
1:13Will you take it all the way up to game time or will it be a decision made before that?
1:19I think it's in that phase where we'll certainly, you know, go as long as it needs to take.
1:25He was limited today, Jesse? Yeah, he was able to get a pretty good amount of work in, but probably in the limited phase.
1:33How did he look with the work that he did get to get in the last couple of days?
1:38Yeah, I mean, I'm not really going to talk about how guys look at practice like that from that standpoint.
1:44I think he was able to get in the work that he needed to get in to potentially have a shot to play.
1:51Lamar, is there a time you need to know to be able to flip that switch into getting ready for the game and getting mentally prepared to play?
2:00Or in your mind, could this go all the way until 10 a.m.
2:04Monday morning, excuse me, 10 a.m. Sunday morning before you make a final decision?
2:08No, because like if it feel better tomorrow, we have no tomorrow, you know, so I can't call it.
2:14I just have a grace period until, you know, Sunday, so however it may go.
2:19Lamar, I think it was reported that this isn't a high ankle sprain, it's not a low ankle sprain.
2:24I mean, is it the deltoid medial sprain if you're comfortable saying it?
2:28I thought it was a high ankle sprain, so I don't know.
2:32Who said that? Rappaport said it wasn't a high ankle sprain.
2:35And Rappaport said that? He part of the training staff.
2:38Yeah. So we can't go off in Rapoport, you know, he just reporting.
2:42Somebody probably told him that too, though, so can't blame him.
2:46But no, man, my staff told me it was a high ankle sprain, so we're going with what Adrian told me.
2:52Lamar Jackson providing the ultimate tee up to bring in our Ian Rapoport.
2:56Look, we understand that you wear many hats, maybe not on the training staff there.
3:01Do we have a rebuttal to what we just heard?
3:04Because he's saying, I mean, I said high ankle sprain, Ian, am I right?
3:08What's going on? I was told it is not a classic high or low ankle sprain and do not call it a high ankle sprain.
3:16So I will stick with what I was told, but it's Lamar's body.
3:20The training staff told him that. So I think we can all agree that Lamar Jackson is officially questionable for the game,
3:26which is where I will go with this. Was limited today.
3:30He has been progressing. All these are good things.
3:32These are all good signs. And we're in a situation now where we're judging his gait from the press conference.
3:39Is he limping? What's it like when he runs out on the field?
3:43How much work did he do? All of those things.
3:46Here's what I would say. We do not seem to be at a point, Fowler, where we know for sure whether or not Lamar Jackson is playing.
3:54He's obviously progressing. So if he doesn't play this week, he will almost certainly play next week.
3:59The fact that he was not a full participant does give me some pause because most of the time when players are
4:06coming back from injury, they have to be full participants in practice to be able to play.
4:11It does sound like tomorrow we will probably know.
4:14But as of right now, still up in the air for Lamar.
4:17Ian, definitely up in the air. That's the sense I get.
4:21I checked with a source tonight. They called it 50-50.
4:24So they need to really see how tomorrow goes.
4:27I wouldn't say even that they're optimistic at that point.
4:30They're just hopeful. And he's at least put himself in the range here.
4:34Now they'll go through a walkthrough tomorrow. They'll check out his ankle.
4:37They don't have to travel. It's a home game.
4:40So they should be all good there finding things out in the next 24 hours.
4:45But you can't overstate how important it is for him to get back really in the next week or two because over
4:51the last five seasons, in three of those, Jackson has missed at least four games.
4:56And in those years, they missed the playoffs twice.
4:59And then one year, they snuck in and lost in the wild card.
5:03The two years where he was completely healthy, 12, 13 wins a season, MVP candidates, all that fun stuff.
5:08So they need him back in a hurry. It really does feel like even though it's early in the season, the division
5:15could be on the line here soon. A huge divisional showdown.
5:18And while there's a question mark there with Lamar, things trending upward much quicker for the Buccaneers, Baker Mayfield.
5:24Todd Bowles says he is ready to go. The Bucs quarterback has missed the last three games with that dislocated thumb.
5:31Baker said he tried to push it to return even sooner.
5:34He wanted to play against Pittsburgh, wasn't able to.
5:37He said he spent this week trying to get used to throwing with a glove.
5:41That is to protect that thumb. Judy, at one and five, the Bucs understand that they have zero room for error at
5:48this point if they want to salvage this season.
5:51They're going to Carolina to face a Panthers team leading the division.
5:54What are the Bucs looking for out of Baker right now?
5:58Well, they are looking for Baker to be Baker.
6:01And he looked like Baker Mayfield in practice. He practiced fully this week.
6:05He was wearing a glove to protect the thumb.
6:07What they wanted to see was how the thumb would respond to the practice and especially to taking snaps from under center,
6:14which obviously puts a lot of force on the thumb.
6:17So he's going to wear the glove. It is a special glove to protect the thumb, as I'm told, from bending too
6:24far backwards, which makes me squeamish just to say it.
6:27But interestingly, they had help getting this glove made, custom made for him by the Tampa Bay Rays, who are about to
6:34start game one of the World Series in about an hour coming up.
6:38One of their equipment guys even went over to the Bucs facility to help design the glove.
6:43They got it made. He's going to wear it in the game.
6:46The Tampa Bay Rays are starting the World Series, and the Bucs are hoping to start a rebound now that Baker is back.
6:53Yeah, Judy, if the Bucs don't win on Sunday, they could be a team to watch at the trade deadline on November 10th.
7:00Typically, it's not Tampa style to sell off pieces, but they would be sitting at one and six at that point.
7:07And the people I've talked to believe that they could certainly reassess their roster and try to get some draft picks moving forward.
7:14You got pass rusher Yaya Diaby could be of interest.
7:17You see Vita Vea there. He would have significant interest if the Bucs would entertain that.
7:22You know, Chris Godwin's a legacy player there in Tampa, but there are a lot of teams looking at receiver right now trying to add.
7:29Kansas City's one, potentially Pittsburgh. So certainly could have some movement with the Bucs.
7:34Now, they feel like they're still alive despite their one and five record because this is their first divisional game.
7:40They've won a lot of division titles. They feel like if they can just take care of business, start with Carolina in
7:47their division, their overall record doesn't matter as much in a weaker division.
7:50But if they were to lose it at one and six, certainly it feels like it will be sellers mode.
7:57Yeah, and the Bucs are going to get Baker back, but getting that offense going is going to be challenging.
8:03He's going to be without his top receiver in Emeka Abuka.
8:06He's without right tackle Lou Geteke. Abuka is dealing with a concussion and a foot issue coming off a game in which
8:13he was targeted at career high 16 times. And now they're going to have to make up for that this weekend.
8:19Ian, give us the other big names that we should be watching for on the injury front right now.
8:25So we'll start with Mike Evans. He's a 76-49ers receiver.
8:28He has been declared out for this week's game despite saying last week that, as Kyle Shanahan mentioned, that they thought they
8:35could get through the week on his Achilles tendonitis.
8:37It was not to be. Mike Evans now out for the game.
8:41The team wisely deciding. Just give him the opportunity to rest so we will see what this offense looks like without him.
8:48For Puka Nakua and the Los Angeles Rams, he is visualized as questionable.
8:52Did not practice at all today. Dealing with a calf injury.
8:55Wasn't like a calf strain. It was just really him not feeling the ability to explode off his calf yesterday in practice.
9:02TBD will work out before the game. And then Miles Garrett is the other big one for the Los Angeles Rams.
9:08This is not involving his status this week. My understanding is the expectation is for him to be able to practice after this week.
9:16That would be week eight. That would be leading up to the game against the commanders.
9:21We'll see how quickly he can ramp himself up.
9:23But that would be excellent news for the Rams.
9:26Ian, Miles Garrett out for the Rams. But Brock Bowers is in for the Rams opponent this week.
9:32The Raiders. He had a hamstring and a calf issue this week.
9:35Was limited earlier in the week. But he was a full participant.
9:39So they will be humming between Bowers and that Kirk Cousins passing game.
9:43That's gone pretty well so far. Sitting at three and three.
9:46But they are moving the ball. And Brett Bowers is a huge part of that.
9:51Now in the NFC West, you got Zach Charbonnet coming back active on the roster now.
9:56After a long process recovering that knee injury torn ACL.
9:59But he will be out for this game. Head coach Mike McDonald said.
10:03Saying Charbonnet is just simply not ready yet. That's significant because this running game needs a boost.
10:08Sam Darnold needs the boost from the running game to run his play action.
10:12They haven't been able to get that going. Charbonnet could be back certainly in the coming weeks.
10:17But it will not be this week. Meanwhile for the Philadelphia Eagles and Saquon Barkley.
10:22This is one they've been waiting on for a couple weeks.
10:25He was limited again at practice today. But the expectation is that he'll be back on the field Monday for Monday Night Football.
10:32The Eagles also need a boost for their run game.
10:35Lost a couple runners, including Ted Figley, including Will Shipley.
10:38Both on IR. Saquon being back would be excellent news for Philly.
10:42Not as good news for the Jacksonville Jaguars. They've officially lost their starting left tackle, Anton Harrison, for the season.
10:48He is already on IR. And the original plan was to undergo arthroscopic surgery and potentially be able to come back in a couple weeks.
10:56They began the surgery and they learned that Harrison had in fact torn his ACL.
11:00They repaired the ACL. That is the good news.
11:03But he is out for the season. Well, week seven already underway.
11:07Drake, May and company came to Chicago having won three straight, three seconds left in the first half.
11:12The Patriots were down 20 to seven. How about May dumping it off to Ramondre Stevenson and Stevenson does the rest, albeit
11:19with help from a couple of really good blocks there.
11:2248 yard touchdown and the Patriots were down 20 to 14 at the break in the fourth quarter.
11:28The Bears up 27, 21, just over five minutes to go in regulation.
11:32Caleb Williams, a terrific throw here. How about this dart to Rome Adunze, who also makes an incredible catch?
11:37There it is again. Caleb, 22 of 33, 308 yards, two touchdowns later in the drive, a minute 34 to go.
11:44This is a gutsy call. Cairo Santos from 58 yards.
11:47That is a career long for him and significant because on the drive before that he missed from 53.
11:53It didn't matter. His coach went with him. His former coach played with him at the Titans heartbroken as the Bears win it 30, 24.
12:00And we just called it a gutsy move by Ben Johnson to have Santos take that field goal when he had never hit Ian before beyond 55.
12:08It paid off with that career long. What was behind that decision?
12:12You know, it was so much more than just Ben Johnson making a call and saying, all right, go kick the field goal.
12:19What this was, was really showing his players that he trusts them and believes in him.
12:24And this is not just a results based analysis, not just like, OK, Carlos Santos made a career long field goal with the game on the line.
12:32Therefore, this was the right decision. The way it played out was indicative of why Ben Johnson is a guy who has the trust of his players.
12:41He's studied warm ups, learned that this was a possibility in warm ups, then went up to Santos after he had already
12:47missed a couple minutes before and just wondered, is this one essentially you could make?
12:52He said, I want it. I want to earn it back.
12:55I want to earn that trust back. And Ben Johnson, you know what?
12:59Let's do that. So even though on the broadcast they were saying, OK, Caleb Williams sacked out of field goal range.
13:06No, no, still a little bit of room left.
13:08He nails it. A game winner and the entire locker room once again got the message.
13:13This is a coach that trusts his players and believes in players.
13:17It was a split second decision. It was the right one and is one that goes a long way in building that culture in Chicago.
13:24You know, there is an issue that has been threaded through this entire season for the Patriots.
13:30And that seems to be driving Mike Vrabel nuts.
13:32And that is turnovers. Drake may played a fantastic game last night, except for one really unsightly interception thrown into the end zone in the second quarter.
13:41There it is right there. That is their 14th giveaway this season.
13:44They are minus seven in turnover differential. They only had 16 giveaways all of last season.
13:49So way ahead of pace. And this is something they just have not been able to get on top of.
13:55It has continued from week one all the way to now.
13:59Mike Vrabel in a radio interview early last week called it embarrassing and ridiculous.
14:03They have to cut back on the turnovers. But at the same time, there are other things that are plaguing them, too.
14:10They didn't get much production out of their wide receivers.
14:13They missed a lot of tackles last night. As a result, they gave up a lot of big plays.
14:19But really, it is the turnovers one of the fundamental things that Mike Vrabel harps on from the beginning of training camp, holding on to the ball.
14:27They cannot seem to solve this problem. It is undermining them once again.
14:31Yeah, they were eight no on the road last year.
14:34One and three away from Foxborough this season. The Packers.
14:37Here's another crazy stat have not run for over 100 yards in a game this year.
14:42Josh Jacobs returns in time to face the Lions.
14:44And who wants the NFC East? Or even just to get back on track, we got a preview from Eagles, Cowboys.
14:51That's Lumen on Monday night. You are watching the Insiders.
14:54Football's back. Hey, it's Drew Franklin from NFL Cover Zero.
14:57Enjoy the NFL season while listening to NFL Cover Zero.
15:00We have storylines, predictions, and lots of silliness. Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season.
15:06When you meet people and you say your job's a sports announcer, it's always interesting to see what the first thing they say is.
15:13I did have one of the more difficult questions though.
15:17He sits next to me and he sees I'm on my computer and he goes, big sports fan.
15:22And I was like, yeah, actually. And he goes, what do you think about my Jaguars this year?
15:28I realized like no one's ever asked me that question ever about anything.
15:31And I was like, do you have all? Listen to NFL Cover Zero on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
15:39Well, it's the Cowboys heading to Philadelphia in search of their first primetime win this season.
15:44Dak Prescott trying to get his offense back on track.
15:47It's Cowboys and Eagles with the NFC East very much up for grabs.
15:51You can watch it Monday on ESPN or streaming on the ESPN app.
15:55Now the kick is late, but you can get up early.
15:58The Good Morning Football crew will be in Philly live at 8 Eastern from Stateside live.
16:03Seth Rollins, Michael Irvin will all be on hand.
16:06Both teams coming to this one banged up. The Eagles are looking to avoid their first five game losing streak since 2016.
16:13Meanwhile, just 29 points combined for the Cowboys offense over the last two games.
16:17Head coach Brian Schottenheimer has publicly challenged George Pickens to be more engaged, but the problems run deeper than that.
16:23For more here is Jane Slater from the Star in Frisco.
16:26Sarah, the explosive plays are down. The protections have struggled and opposing defenses.
16:30Well, they're disrupting Dallas's game plan. Brian Schottenheimer on his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan was asked if he's considered giving up play calling duties.
16:38His answer was no. In fact, he said he's quote an elite play caller and that's why he thinks this thing will get turned around.
16:46Offensive coordinator Clayton Adams says the answers are there, but execution remains an issue for everyone.
16:51Right now it's death by a thousand paper cuts and executing those like I think of blitz zero response as being like a geopolitical nuclear response.
16:59Like you don't want to be in that situation all the time, but when it happens, you better execute it properly.
17:05Defensively, Christian Parker has another set of eyes in the coach's box with Mike Pettit, who was helping identify tendencies and make in-game adjustments.
17:13Parker told me it's a role reversal from their time together in Green Bay and against his former team.
17:18Parker expects Philadelphia to attack Dallas's weaknesses. He knows quarterback Tanner McGee from his time with the Eagles and as for Saquon Barkley.
17:25Well, he says that's going to come down to gap discipline and making sure all players do their best to try and get Barkley down on the ground.
17:34Well, from one big divisional showdown to another the Lions listing Brian Branch and center Kate Mays is questionable.
17:40Both expected to play in this Packers Lions game.
17:42Matthew Golden, Christian Watson limited all week, but are also expected to go Packers captains.
17:47I hear Franklin out due to a shin injury back for the Packers this week, though.
17:52Josh Jacobs, who missed the first six games of this season on the commissioner's exempt list as the league was investigating his offseason arrest for domestic abuse.
18:00The league's investigation remains ongoing. Jacobs said this week he is trying to learn from his mistakes and move forward in Rappaport
18:07back with us now Sunday, marking his first game back home.
18:10How are they bringing him into the fold, Ian?
18:13Well, the Green Bay Packers do expect Josh Jacobs, assuming everything goes well tomorrow, to be back on the field for the Green Bay Packers.
18:21And yes, it has been six weeks. It has been on the commissioner's exempt list.
18:25It has been for headlines that no player wants and no one associated with any player certainly wants.
18:31It has been all bad for Josh Jacobs, and he has taken responsibility from that.
18:35And his legal matters are essentially but not completely closed, at least not the NFL part of that.
18:41That said, it is time for him to get on the field.
18:44So he was able to do almost everything at practice this week.
18:48Sounds like he kept himself in good shape. Sounds like he is as ready as he can be.
18:54But he hasn't played football in some time. Not expected to be in football shape immediately.
18:58How could he be? Wouldn't be surprised to see the Packers kind of bring him along slowly.
19:04But at least Jacobs will be on the field to spark that run game in Green Bay.
19:09Yeah, Packers at the Lions from the NFC North to the South.
19:13The Panthers sitting atop the division in a big opportunity against the Bucs to continue to grow that division lead on their quest for back-to-back division titles.
19:21Head coach Dave Canales knows the familiarity between the Bucs and the Panthers often leads to close ones.
19:26You know, we love those division games. They're very physical.
19:29Usually battling who has the ball last, you know, and you're fighting and scratching.
19:34Being able to spend time with Coach Bowles. You know, being able to go against his defense.
19:39Coach knowing what we're doing in different ways. Trying to offset those things and use the information that we both might have.
19:46They know that we know that they know. That we know that they know.
19:50And you kind of go back and forth, you know, in different situations that way.
19:54But, you know, a coach, an organization, you know, Jason Light, the whole thing.
19:59The players, the guys that I was able to spend time with.
20:02There's a lot of respect. And it also just kind of heightens the competition of the moments because of that.
20:08So, I think that probably plays into it some.
20:11Judy Canales and a lot of that coaching staff in Carolina came from Tampa.
20:15Baker, of course, came from Carolina. There is no lack of motivational storylines there.
20:20What kind of chance is this for the Panthers on Sunday to really make a statement in this division?
20:25It's a huge opportunity. Let's start, though, with some injury news.
20:29The Panthers edge rusher Jalen Phillips, who has two and a half sacks this season, is out with a hamstring injury.
20:35Which, frankly, is about the only bit of bad news for the Panthers right now.
20:40You are right, Sarah. They have a real chance to put their foot on the throat of the Bucs if they can win this game.
20:47If the Panthers defeat the Bucs this week, the Panthers would be three up in the win column.
20:53We're only in week seven of the season. It's probably not a surprise that they are in this position.
20:59Bryce Young, the quarterback, is playing the best ball of his career.
21:02And actually, Dave Canales also brought some really good injury news looking down the road in the season.
21:08Remember that both of their starting quarterbacks, J.C. Horn and Mike Jackson, went on IR after week three injuries.
21:14Well, Canales said they're actually both progressing really, really well.
21:17They're still on IR, he said. But very soon, once they clear the IR window, it will be time to start thinking
21:24about when they can open the practice window for those two.
21:27So, the Panthers have a chance to extend their lead in the division.
21:31And also with the prospect of getting reinforcements back for the second half of the season, it's really, really looking like a
21:38very strong position for the Panthers right now. We mentioned this could be close.
21:42Each of the Bucs' last 12 games decided by one score.
21:45All eyes on the ground game, though, when the Chiefs take the reigning Super Bowl MVP back to his old stomping grounds.
21:52A preview from Chiefs. Seahawks straight ahead. Well, Kenneth Walker has 665 rushing yards in his first season with the Chiefs.
21:58He's on pace to set the single-season rushing record.
22:01But Walker's former team, the Seahawks, their running backs are averaging under 90 yards per game.
22:06On the flip side, Jackson Smith and Jigba leads the top three receiving categories, seeking to be the fourth receiver since 2000 to win the Triple Crown.
22:14The Chiefs' wide receivers ranked 28th in receiving yards this season.
22:18Judy, there was some hope that the Chiefs would get Rasheed Rice back this week, and that is not going to happen.
22:24What is the latest with him? Yeah, let's do the Chiefs' injury report, and that is headlined by Rasheed Rice, who is
22:31out once again with a hamstring that he suffered back in week four.
22:35This is the second game he will miss. Also, offensive lineman Jalen Moore remains in concussion protocol.
22:40So, he is out, and don't forget, early this week, left tackle Josh Simmons went on injured reserve with the back injury
22:47that has kept him out all season. The good news, Patrick Mahomes is healthy.
22:51Travis Kelsey is healthy. Xavier Worthy is healthy. And, of course, so is Kenneth Walker, whose signing is proving to be the off-season move of the year.
22:59And that is how the Chiefs have the number one offense in the league and are undefeated.
23:05Jeremy, I have a feeling we're going to be spending a lot of time paying attention to Kenneth Walker this weekend.
23:11Yeah, Judy, Seattle could really use Kenneth Walker right about now.
23:14That run game is struggling, and Sam Darnold is struggling as a result.
23:18Now, the Seahawks are sticking with Darnold. That's really no surprise.
23:22He led him to a Super Bowl. He's an established, quality starting quarterback.
23:26But this goes against the backdrop of two things.
23:28Seven interceptions for Darnold over just five games, which is a really poor clip.
23:33And then Drew Locke has impressed both behind the scenes and when he's been in on game action.
23:38So, this is no QB controversy right now, but those two items are at least worth noting for the long term of the season.
23:45And the Seahawks were hoping to surround Darnold with more, you know, cleaner conditions with the running game so he could run play action.
23:53But what they envisioned was having Jadarian Price, the first round pick, and then eventually Zach Charbonnet, who's still coming back from the knee issue.
24:00Neither are in the lineup right now. So, it's going to be a struggle trying to run the ball.
24:06They're going to need more from Darnold while they manage his game and make sure he doesn't have too much on his plate, which can result in interceptions.
24:15So, it's a tricky proposition for Seattle's offense right now.
24:18Let's stay out west. Brock Purdy has his Niners unbeaten and the quarterback joining some elite company.
24:2317 total touchdowns for him this year. Just two picks.
24:26The second player in NFL history to have 15 or more touchdowns and few turnovers, two or less, in a 6-0 start.
24:33The other quarterback that did that, that would be Tom Brady.
24:36However, Purdy's going to be without some of his offensive weapons on Sunday.
24:40Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel both out. Christian Kirk expected to make his season debut on Sunday.
24:45Here's Kyle Shanahan on his team maintaining an edge.
24:48That's something we talk about a lot. I mean, it happens.
24:51It's every week. I think that's the hardest thing about the NFL, just how much a game takes out of people, how
24:58much a week of preparation takes out of people, and how much doing it 17 times does.
25:03That's what I think is one of our strengths.
25:06I think we've got guys who understand how this league works.
25:09They understand what has to go into it, and they know that anyone can beat you.
25:14And I think when you have situations where we've won a number of games and we've got a bi-week ahead of us,
25:21it really helps when you can turn on the film and just show them.
25:25And when you turn on Atlanta's film, they know how big of a challenge this is.
25:30We've got a number of guys down. We know they do too.
25:34But they're a team that, I know the record doesn't show up, but they're a team that should be there in the end.
25:41The Niners want to keep this juggernaut rolling, but without some big names, it's a little more challenging this week, Ian.
25:47Yeah, and without Mike Evans specifically, if you go back to last week, the 49ers beat the Commanders.
25:52That's fine. Obviously held on at the end. But when Mike Evans went out of the game with that Achilles tendonitis, was
25:59not able to finish the last fourth quarter or so, the 49ers offense looked a little different.
26:04It was several three and outs in a row.
26:07Obviously, again, they held on. The defense held strong and it was all fine.
26:11But there are legitimate questions of without Mike Evans, what is this 49ers offense going to look like and how efficient are they going to be?
26:19The fact that their receivers are going to be not Debo, not Mike Evans, but Brandon Cooks, Christian Kirk, and obviously George Kittle, essentially a receiver as well.
26:28It does lead Brock Purdy to some challenges. It's going to be fascinating to see right before the bye if the 49ers
26:35can keep this going and show they can win without Evans.
26:38The Niners running away with that division right now.
26:41The Rams just trying to keep pace and the injury issues continue.
26:44Linebacker Nate Landman is out. Puka Nakua, cornerback Trent McDuffie.
26:47They're both questionable. The Raiders' Brock Bowers is dealing with a hamstring injury in that game and a calf, but he is expected to play.
26:55Now, Judy, look, there isn't a team in this league without injuries, but there are always some that are hit harder than others.
27:02And it feels like the Rams are being absolutely rocked when you look at that injury report.
27:07What are they dealing with this week? Well, they have an elite roster, except that they also have an elite injury report.
27:14They are just trying to hang on. It's week seven and they are in must win territory already against the Raiders.
27:20They haven't lost three games in a row since the 2023 season.
27:24Their scoring has gone off a cliff, also injury related.
27:27And this week they are particularly banged up on the defensive front.
27:31Pruna Ford, Kobe Turner. It's a real opportunity for the Raiders to try to run the ball here.
27:36They are just trying to bide their time and collect some wins until their injured players can come back.
27:42Guys like Miles Garrett. For instance, here's a snapshot of what the season looks like.
27:47Again, it's week seven. And this week the Rams are going to use because of performance and injury.
27:52Third, third different place kicker. They signed veteran Brandon McManus this week.
27:56They hope he can stay on the field. They hope he can fix some of their special teams woes and not get hurt.
28:03And they again are just trying to hold on until they can get some reinforcements back, Jeremy.
28:08Yeah, Judy, the Raiders next two games could serve as a roadmap for how they handle their quarterback plan and the eventual
28:15secession to Fernando Mendoza from Kirk Cousins. Now, Cousins is playing great.
28:18I mean, he's tied for the lead in touchdown passes with 14, six in passing yards.
28:23The Raiders are sitting at three and three. But the next two weeks they play the Rams and the Jets.
28:29They should on paper beat both teams because they have a better record than the Rams, which is crazy to see and
28:36think of them as an easy game. But they're two and four.
28:40Jets two and four. So if the Raiders can emerge from this with some more wins and be sitting maybe a five
28:47and three, perhaps Cousins keeps the party rolling. Is the quarterback for most or all of the year.
28:52But if they're sitting at three and five, they lose the next two.
28:56That'd be five losses in a row. No matter how well Cousins is playing, do you transition to Mendoza at that point?
29:03So really interesting two weeks for the Raiders on their schedule.
29:06The Colts get an unbeaten Vikings team and they're going to be without their all pro corner sauce Gardner and pro bowl tight end Tyler Warren.
29:14Both Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison are expected to play while Jordan Mason is questionable.
29:19Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is facing a misdemeanor charge for possessing marijuana after he was pulled over on October 12th.
29:25The Colts said in a statement they are aware of the situation and that they have no further comment.
29:30Now, Judy, this has already been a tumultuous season for the Colts.
29:34They just fired their GM after a loss to the Titans.
29:37And now they're getting the Vikings in Minnesota. If they can't get this thing going in the right direction, what are you
29:44hearing about trade talks involving the Colts? Well, what I'm hearing right now today is it's just too early to know what they're going to do.
29:52It's too early to say fire sale time, although certainly whenever you fire a general manager at this point in the season before the trade deadline.
30:00That is the first question. They play two games, two very difficult games for them before the trade deadline.
30:06If they should surprise everybody and win these games against the Vikings and the Jaguars, that would certainly change their plans.
30:12And then they would perhaps go forward with the season and they are still trying to win games.
30:18However, if they lose these games and on paper you would expect that they would lose games, that could certainly open the
30:25door to the possibility of moving on from some of their best players who could get them some really good draft capital in return.
30:32Running back Jonathan Taylor, DeForest Buckner, Quentin Nelson, who is a lifetime Colt, but who is on an expiring contract, a guard.
30:39People need guards right now in the NFL so you could see them moving.
30:43But again, too early to know what they are going to do, Jeremy, in Indianapolis.
30:47These two games will tell us an awful lot about their path.
30:51Yeah, Judy, another name to watch at the trade deadline is Jacksonville receiver Brian Thomas Jr., who has really been benched, played
30:58just 15 snaps last week in London, hasn't caught a pass in the last two weeks.
31:03I can't believe I'm even saying this or that Jacksonville is here.
31:06I was at their training camp. He was the most graceful athlete on the field, offense or defense.
31:12They just have not been able to make this work consistently.
31:15They wanted him to be that deep threat to open things up for other receivers.
31:20Just hasn't worked out the way they had hoped.
31:23So several teams I've talked to believe that Thomas Jr.
31:26is now available. And there are a lot of teams that need a receiver.
31:30We mentioned the Chiefs, the Steelers. There will be others that certainly could inquire and try to pique Jacksonville's interest here over the next two weeks.
31:38He burst onto the scene with that incredible rookie season.
31:41Coming up, Molly McGrath with a report from Paris ahead of Saints-Steelers in the first ever NFL game in France.
31:47Football's back. Hey, it's Drew Franklin from NFL Cover Zero.
31:50Enjoy the NFL season while listening to NFL Cover Zero.
31:53We have storylines, predictions, and lots of silliness. Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season.
31:59When you meet people and you say your job's a sports announcer, it's always interesting to see what the first thing they say is.
32:06I did have one of the more difficult questions, though.
32:10He sits next to me and he sees I'm on my computer and he goes, big sports fan.
32:15And I was like, yeah, actually. And he goes, what are you thinking about my Jaguars this year?
32:21I realized, like, no one's ever asked me that question ever about anything.
32:24And I was like, Duval. Listen to NFL Cover Zero on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
32:31Monday at 9.30 a.m. Eastern. I love the music.
32:34The NFL playing its first ever game in Paris.
32:37You can catch the Saints and the Steelers on NFL Network.
32:40Or stream it on the ESPN app. Molly McGrath with more from Paris.
32:44The Steelers arrived in Paris on Friday morning to find that despite scenes from the civil protests last weekend, things are mostly back to normal in the city.
32:53Head coach Mike McCarthy said they're taking advisement from league and team security, but he also wants his players to enjoy some of their off time in Paris.
33:01The Saints have been in France since Monday morning, and they're staying in Versailles nearly an hour outside of the city.
33:08And head coach Kellen Moore said they feel pretty insulated from everything that's going on in Paris, but he's also encouraging his players to enjoy this experience.
33:16All the players I spoke with said they feel safe.
33:19Linebacker Pete Werner said he was advised on areas to avoid, but he was pushing his son in a stroller and felt completely safe walking around the city.
33:27Now, large-scale protests are expected for Saturday night, and there are expected curfews around those protests, but those areas are not near
33:34either team hotel, and there is expected to be triple deployment of police presence to help cut down on the violence.
33:41There's also expected to be more security around the game on Sunday, and league and government officials do not expect this to impact the game at all.
33:49Well, for more on this game, we want to bring in Cam Wolfe.
33:53And Cam, what is the one-player matchup that you're watching that could decide this one?
33:57Sarah, I can't wait to watch Jeremy Bernard versus the Saints defense.
34:01And Jeremy Bernard has become the trusted number-two weapon for Aaron Rodgers in his offense, the rookie receiver out of Alabama.
34:07Rodgers said this past week there becomes a time where confidence starts to match the potential, and that's where we're reaching for Jeremy.
34:14And look, some people call Jeremy Bernard at Alabama the infection.
34:18I love that. I hope that kicks in as his nickname, obviously the germ reference.
34:22He had 11 catches from Rodgers this past week, which is the most that any rookie has ever had from Rodgers in a game in his career.
34:31And you got Michael Pittman out for injury, Roman Wilson out on IR.
34:35Why can't he step up and be that duo mate with Metcalf?
34:38He's playing a Saints defense that allows their top-five amount of yards to underneath receivers.
34:43That's where Bernard really thrives as a slot receiver.
34:46So I'm eager to see, can he do it again?
34:49He's starting in my fantasy lineup this week, and I'd imagine a lot of people around the league are eager to see
34:55how he continues to evolve for Rodgers. Well, Commissioner Roger Goodell, of course, Cam, is in Paris for that game.
35:01But while there, he made remarks indicating that the NFL has its sights set on a game in Tokyo.
35:07Now, I am told that game would likely be played in 2028.
35:11They have long had their eyes on Asia as a potential market for the international games.
35:16They used to play preseason games there. I actually covered one of those games in 2003 when the Jets played there.
35:22It, of course, is a long trip, a long-haul flight, much like Australia.
35:26I suspect teams that are in that game would learn a lot from how the Niners and Rams handled their respective travel arrangements.
35:33I can tell you it was a long flight at that time.
35:37They did it with a very tight turnaround, only about three- or four-day trip.
35:41Kevin Mawai, the Hall of Fame center who was with the Jets at the time, told me late that season that it
35:48took them about six weeks after they returned from that game to feel normal.
35:52But certainly, Tokyo, awesome experience, spectacular city. It will be a great host for an international game.
35:57It would be an absolute spectacle. The Browns, back home here, are in control of the AFC North.
36:03Deshaun Watson's four game-winning drives this season. That's tied for most in the league.
36:07And now they get a matchup with the Titans, who are trying to win back-to-back games for the first time in four years.
36:14Cam, this Browns team controls the division. They didn't turn it around overnight.
36:18What are people around the league saying about this Browns 4-2 start?
36:22Sarah, the word around the league is that this is a new era of Browns football, not just the same old Browns that people laugh off.
36:30Me and Daniel Olufusi wrote a story and talked about the evolution of this draft class over the last two years.
36:36I had an assistant general manager tell me that look at the environment of the Browns.
36:41If they keep developing this time next year, we're going to say that's a great environment for a young quarterback to thrive in.
36:48Think about how long it's been that we've even said that about the Browns.
36:52You talked about it. They're in first place. Eight of their last 10 picks in the top three rounds are starters.
36:59You got Denzel Boston, who's a candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
37:03Last year's defensive rookie, Carson Schlesinger, is becoming a star.
37:06They just continue to hit on their draft picks with Andrew Barry, their general manager, their assistant general managers, Glenn Cook and Catherine Hickman.
37:13And these are type of draft and develop strategies that teams constantly want to talk about, but it's hard to execute.
37:19I had one executive tell me, look, Barry's plan, he's very structured with it.
37:24He's very programmed like a computer. But a lot of times they don't get to see these things through because the head coach gets fired.
37:31The GM gets fired. The Browns are getting to see it through and we're getting to see the results of a first place Browns team.
37:39Yeah. And all those guys that you mentioned that they've drafted recently, I mean, they come in and they produce right away.
37:46You know, the latest into the season, the Browns have been on top of that division in more than a decade.
37:52The Giants are on top in the NFC East.
37:55Can J.J. McCarthy keep them there? Talking the latest QB switch in New York next.
37:59The Giants officially made the move from Jameis Winston to J.J.
38:03McCarthy. To me, this is the best we've ever seen him on a NFL field.
38:07Keep downfield for Likley, who makes the K-3 touchdown.
38:10You know, J.J.'s got some skill set that we can take advantage of and we're excited to see what we can do with it.
38:17Well, change is underway in New York once again.
38:20J.J. McCarthy came off the bench in the fourth quarter against the Saints through for 243 passing yards.
38:26That's good for the third most in a game over the last 10 seasons.
38:30Judy, you know, the Giants, they got to buy next week.
38:33They could have waited to make the change from Jameis to J.J.
38:37And give McCarthy more time to adjust there in New York.
38:40But John Harbaugh ready to make that switch now.
38:43Why? Well, because they want to get back to playing the style of offense that they thought they were going to play with Jackson Dart.
38:51They had to really shrink the playbook when Jameis Winston had to replace Dart.
38:55He's just not that mobile a quarterback. J.J. McCarthy, of course, has some mobility.
38:59So that opens up their playbook again. And because he can move, they expect that not only will he be able to
39:06protect himself against the Houston Texans, but also that the threat of his running will also open up the running game, which
39:13has really stagnated since Dart went out. They need to get that running attack going.
39:17They want to be a more balanced offense than they've been the last few weeks.
39:22That is what they expect that J.J. McCarthy will bring.
39:25They lead the NFC East. They see an opportunity here with the rest of the division in flux.
39:30No time to waste for the Giants. Texans still looking for that first win at home, but they are coming off back-to-back road wins.
39:38Meanwhile, Lamar and Joe Burrow have met nine times in their career.
39:41And I know we talked about it earlier in the show.
39:45Lamar is questionable for this one right now. And while they have put up similar numbers in terms of yards per game
39:51and touchdown, Lamar has won seven of those nine matchups.
39:55This is obviously a huge game within the division.
39:57It is also a personal game for former Bengal, now Raven, Trey Hendrickson, who downplayed the significance this week of facing his former team.
40:05But Ian, I am just guessing he would probably like to send a message.
40:09Oh, he lying. Yeah, no, he's lying. 100%. We use the term revenge game a lot.
40:14We really do. Anytime anyone's playing their former team, we use the term revenge game.
40:18Even if a player got traded, even if he left for no reason at all except for more money, this is an actual revenge game.
40:26It was years of turmoil for Hendrickson and the Cincinnati Bengals.
40:29Wanted a new contract, wanted another new contract, wanted to be traded a couple times, felt like he was held hostage, finally
40:36got free and signed a huge deal in Baltimore and is excelling.
40:40Meanwhile, the Bengals have simply replaced him on the edge with names that are far, far less recognizable.
40:45This actually is a revenge game. You know Hendrickson is going to want it, but you know the edges and since he replaced him are as well.
40:53You're absolutely right, though. It could be the most amicable thing in the world and be like, revenge.
40:59Bo Nix trying to get his offense going against a Cardinals team that just pulled off an upset over the Rams.
41:05Can they do it again? Sunday morning, 9.30 Eastern.
41:08Catch the NFL's first ever game in Paris on NFL Network and streaming on the ESPN app as the Steelers take on
41:15the Saints anytime they go somewhere for the first time.
41:18I was at the Munich one. It's so special.
41:21Then on Monday night, NFCE Showdown, Cowboys, Eagles, 9 Eastern on ESPN ABC and streaming on the ESPN app.
41:26Talking some Broncos and something's got to give. As Bo Nix is averaging under six air yards per attempt this season.
41:33That is worst in the NFL. Teams have found success throwing deep against the Cardinals, however, as they allow the highest air yards per attempt.
41:40The Cards, however, shocked plenty of people knocking off the Rams last week.
41:44Ian, what has to happen for Arizona to do the same thing against Denver?
41:49You know, for the Arizona Cardinals, you're right. That was one of the biggest upsets of the season and certainly something where
41:55if you're Michael Ford, the new head coach, you could say to the guys, we are building something.
42:01But to really build something, you have to do it back to back.
42:05To be anything other than a fluke, you got to come out and do it again.
42:10And for the Denver Broncos, it's been obvious. Defense has been good.
42:13Offense has been really inconsistent. Bo Nix, really inconsistent.
42:16And this Arizona Cardinals defense does have the opportunity to shut him down and show everybody that it was real and that they could do it again.
42:24That is really what is at stake for the Arizona Cardinals, proving that it was no fluke.
42:30To the AFC East, one of two winless teams left in the NFL.
42:34They haven't even led yet, but they have won six of the seven games that these Dolphins have played against the Jets.
42:40That is their most wins against any opponent since 22.
42:43Meanwhile, the Jets, seven straight losses in division game.
42:46That is the longest active streak in the NFL.
42:49So again, something has to give here, Judy. The Jets are hopeful that they're going to get some key players back this weekend.
42:56What can you tell us? For receiver A.D. Mitchell, he is back.
43:00He will be back. Brees Hall, the running back who's been out with a quad injury, practiced on a limited basis this week.
43:07They want to take that decision all the way up to game time.
43:11But he is listed as questionable. So possible they get Brees Hall back.
43:14No matter who else is playing, though, the thinking inside the Jets from people there is they've got to get the ball to Garrett Wilson more.
43:22He is their best player, and there have been games this season, losses this season, where he has just been a non-factor.
43:29That can't happen. Frank Reich actually said that Aaron Glenn has set it in his headset to remind him, get the ball to Garrett Wilson.
43:37We will see if they can do it this week against the Miami Dolphins.
43:41Get it to Garrett. Seems like a simple game plan.
43:44That does it for us on the Insiders. The weekend is here.
43:48It is Friday. Enjoy your week seven. That's already underway.
43:51Some people are going to be enjoying a World Series.

44:12Here's what you can expect from the podcast in our second season.
44:16I would suggest for these preseason games, I think they should do what they do on the NFL draft.
44:22You know when coverage of the NFL draft is basically for moms, and they're just like, hey, he has a dog named Spark.
