A.J. Brown

NegativeProjection0:03

Brett has concerns that AJ Brown is not the same guy he was, citing GPS data showing drop-offs over the last two years that could be injury or scheme-related, and worries about inherent risk in a new environment.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup0:05

Brown played for the Titans and Eagles, offenses that ranked bottom three in passing yards per game, while the Patriots ranked top three last year, suggesting he may have more opportunity to break out.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:05

While AJ Brown has upside potential from his accomplishments on the Titans and Eagles in bottom-three passing yard offenses, the Patriots ranked top three in passing yards per game last year, which could help him break out.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:05

Brown is getting up there in age, Matt Harmon noted a decline on film, and injury experts like Jeff Mueller suggest he may be a player to get out on a year early rather than a year late.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:11

AJ Brown is listed as a potential pairing option with Puka Nacua at 10th overall in a 10-team PPR three-WR league, though London is preferred.

Insight page

Alec Pierce

PositiveValue0:29

Pierce is being drafted one pick ahead of Courtland Sutton in the current draft landscape, creating an interesting valuation sweet spot in the wide receiver tier.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:41

Alec Pierce received significant investment from the Colts GM and head coach, who are expecting him to produce after giving him substantial money.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:41

Alec Pierce ranks second only to Tyreek Hill in deep fantasy points per game over the last two years and could break leagues if he starts getting more short to intermediate targets after the Colts traded away Michael Pitman Jr.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:42

The Colts gave Pierce $30 million and traded away Michael Pitman Jr. (who had three seasons over 140 targets), clearly paving the way for Pierce to take on the alpha receiver role.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:43

Pierce is a 95th percentile athlete by sport score with excellent intermediate route-running skills (digs, slants, posts, comebacks, hitches) that were masked by inaccurate quarterback play in college.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:44

Brett Whitefield is all-in on Pierce because he cannot logically believe an NFL team handed a guy $30 million to not use him as their premier wide receiver, especially with vacated targets from Josh Downs' injury issues.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:45

Pierce is the best deep threat in football over the last three years (second only to Tyreek Hill), and if he starts getting screens and curl routes, there is significant upside in an offense that was leading the league in passing yards.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

PositiveInjury0:14

Baker Mayfield played with a blown-out shoulder for the final six or seven games of the season, which likely impacted his performance and his receivers' production.

Insight page
PositiveInjury0:14

Baker Mayfield played with a blown-out shoulder for the final six or seven games of last season, which likely impacted Amika Buuka's receiving production.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:15

Baker Mayfield was on the injury report 11 different times with 25 different injuries and had the league's worst catchable target rate after the first five-week stretch.

Insight page

Bijan Robinson

PositiveProjection0:07

Robinson could have a 10,000 yard season and break leagues, hitting 30 fantasy points in five of his last eight games and finishing with the 12th most yards from scrimmage in NFL history.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:07

Robinson had more receiving fantasy points per game than Lad Mani and Alec Pierce last season as a pass catcher, and with Tyler Allgeier gone, he could be a league-breaking pick at 102 overall.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:08

Robinson is ranked 102 overall and is considered a league-breaking pick comparable to the glory days of fantasy football when elite backs like LaDainian Tomlinson went 101 and Priest Holmes went 102.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:08

Robinson has a downside case that hasn't been discussed much: the Falcons' offensive line is in decline after losing right tackle Caleb McGary to retirement and Drew Dolman in free agency, with below-average replacements.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:09

Robinson's situation is further complicated by Kevin Stefanski being a poor head coach, ranked in the F tier by analysts, which could limit his upside.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:10

Kevin Stefansky's poor head coaching (F-tier ranking) is a downside concern, as he ran split backfields even with Nick Chubb in Cleveland, potentially limiting Robinson's fantasy value.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:11

Bejan Robinson had over 100 targets last year with more receiving fantasy points per game than Lad Makanki, functioning as a dual-threat weapon that should provide both floor and ceiling upside.

Insight page

CeeDee Lamb

NegativeBust0:22

Brett Whitefield is worried about CeeDee Lamb and considers him the biggest landmine first round pick, noting he was outscored by 90 fantasy points by George Pickens when both were on the field together last year.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

PositiveValue0:17

Godwin is going much cheaper than Ibuka in drafts, making him a potentially interesting alternative in the crowded Tampa Bay receiver situation.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:17

Godwin could potentially lead the team in fantasy points, though the analyst feels it's a tough puzzle to figure out given the crowded receiver room.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

PositiveRole0:11

Christian McCaffrey, along with Bejan Robinson and Gibbs, is viewed as a different caliber of dual-threat running back compared to other pass-catching backs in the league.

Insight page

Courtland Sutton

PositiveValue0:29

Sutton is being drafted just after Alec Pierce in the current draft landscape, part of an interesting valuation sweet spot among wide receivers.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:45

Courtland Sutton had an excellent season last year but is being drafted in the 90s, which seems undervalued given his recent performance.

Insight page

Demario Douglas

PositiveUsage0:06

Douglas benefits from Drake May's tendency to spread targets evenly among receivers, getting opportunities when Stefon Diggs doesn't have big games.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

PositiveProjection0:08

Henry is ranked 101 overall and is considered a league-breaking pick alongside Bijan Robinson at 102, comparable to elite backs from fantasy football's glory days.

Insight page

DK Metcalf

PositiveRole0:24

DK Metcalf was mentioned as an example of a talented receiver who struggled in an Arthur Smith offense, similar to Drake London.

Insight page

Drake London

PositiveValue0:04

Brett prefers Drake London in round two, making an exception to his running back preference. London averaged 10.5 targets per game, 109 yards per game, and 24.5 fantasy points per game before his PCL injury, hitting 100 yards in 5 of 6 games and looking like a major league winner.

Insight page
NegativeInjury0:04

London started the season with an AC sprain injury and suffered a PCL injury that caused him to miss games.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:04

Before his PCL injury, London averaged 10.5 targets per game, 109 yards per game, and 24.5 fantasy points per game, hitting 100 yards in five of six games, suggesting he could be in the Jamarr Chase and Puka Nacua range.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:05

London was setting the world on fire before his PCL injury and looked like he should be in the Jamarr Chase and Puka Nacua range of elite receivers.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:24

Drake London was mentioned as an example of a talented receiver who struggled in an Arthur Smith offense, contrasting with George Pickens' success in that system.

Insight page

George Pickens

PositiveBreakout0:22

George Pickens is a complete alpha receiver who excels at the catch point, has improved route running, makes circus catches, can play multiple positions (X, big slot, Z), and outscored CD Lamb by 90 fantasy points when on the field together last year.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:24

George Pickens' statistical profile over the last three years is basically tied with Jamar Chase in key metrics, which is a shocking revelation that contradicts the perception he could be Jamar Chase tier talent.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:25

Even controlling for CD Lamb's injury, Pickens was the alpha in the Cowboys passing game after the bye week (week 11 onward) when Lamb was fully healthy, outproducing Lamb in that stretch.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:25

Pickens' yards per target over expectation stat of 1.73 over a three-year span is top three in the league, demonstrating elite efficiency.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:25

Pickens represents elite wide receiver value as a second option in the Cowboys passing game, making him an attractive alternative to taking CD Lamb in round one when both are productive.

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

PositiveValue0:06

Chase is awesome but the Rams wide receiver one has outscored him every year of his career except for one, raising questions about whether Puka Nacua might be the better pick.

Insight page

Jalen McMillan

PositiveUsage0:16

McMillan is splitting wide receiver three duties with Amika Ibuka, indicating a crowded receiver room at Tampa Bay.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:17

McMillan could potentially lead the team in fantasy points, though the analyst feels the Tampa Bay receiver situation is a tough puzzle to figure out.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveRole0:45

There is a perception that Jaylen Waddle will be the alpha receiver with Courtland Sutton as the beta, though this assumption is being questioned.

Insight page

Josh Downs

NegativeInjury0:44

Josh Downs is a slot-only player who is frequently injured and unable to stay on the field, creating vacated targets for Alec Pierce.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

PositiveProjection0:38

Justin Herbert is the best quarterback a McDaniel-tree coach has ever had, with potential to elevate McDaniel's offensive system in a way previous QBs like Tua could not.

Insight page

Michael Pittman

PositiveDepth Chart0:42

Michael Pitman Jr. was traded away by the Colts despite having three seasons over 140 targets, clearing the path for Alec Pierce to become the alpha receiver.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection0:39

Patrick Mahomes gets more credit than Tyreek Hill for the Chiefs' success, but Mahomes cannot hit a deep ball anymore and his success is largely dependent on Hill's presence.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

PositiveValue0:07

Nacua has outscored Jamarr Chase every year of his career except for one, suggesting he may be a better pick than Chase in the early rounds.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:11

Puka Nacua at 10th overall in a 10-team PPR league with three wide receiver starts is considered good value, with London recommended as the pairing pick.

Insight page

Rome Odunze

PositiveValue0:12

Rome Odunze (London) is strongly preferred as a pairing with Puka Nacua at 10th overall in a 10-team PPR three-WR league, with Scott Barrett expressing he 'really like[s] London this year.'

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveValue0:12

Saquon Barkley is the second choice after London to pair with Puka Nacua at 10th overall in a 10-team PPR three-WR league.

Insight page

Stefon Diggs

PositiveUsage0:05

Diggs has inconsistent target distribution under Drake May, who spreads the wealth among receivers; Diggs will have big games followed by disappearances as targets go to Deario Douglas and Kaylen Bouty.

Insight page

Ted Hurst

PositiveRole0:17

Ted Hurst is a rookie who appears to be the only player on the roster with the build and skill set to play X receiver, though it's unclear if coaches see it that way.

Insight page

Tez Johnson

PositiveProjection0:18

TZ Johnson was phenomenal last year as a rookie and was an analytics darling, though his skill set as a slot-only type is traditionally harder for the NFL to project.

Insight page

Tua Tagovailoa

NegativeProjection0:38

Tua's success in Miami is entirely dependent on Tyreek Hill; without Hill, the offense was one of the worst in the league, and Tua's contract value is largely attributable to Hill's presence rather than his own arm talent.

Insight page

Tyreek Hill

PositiveProjection0:37

Tyreek Hill's on-off splits show the Miami offense is dramatically worse without him—EPA per play drops to bottom five, EPA per run drops by double, and yards per carry drops by 1.5 yards, making him the most valuable non-QB offensive player of his generation.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:40

Tyreek Hill is considered to have had the biggest impact at a single position in the NFL and is part of the Mount Rushmore of wide receivers alongside Randy Moss, Megatron, and Jerry Rice.

0:13School of Scott live with Brett Whitefield and of course Mr. CEO Scott Barrett. Today we're answering all the questions and this is a aua ask us
0:23anything moment for you guys. We've already taken a bunch of questions from the subscribers and on X, but if you have questions, please get them in now
0:31so we can answer them. Scott, these shows have been kind of my favorite thing we've been doing. We did one on uh
0:37our company Discord where we answered questions for the the Discord peeps. Um I love these though. How are you doing today sir?
0:44>> I'm I'm doing good, man. I'm really excited. That was an awesome intro. You are so much better at hosting than me.
0:50So, uh please do that for every episode that we do. Uh, I'm I'm excited, man.
0:55This is It's just my favorite thing to, you know, so this what our phone call episodes, you know? It's like we do this
1:02every day on the phone together, so might as well hit the record button while we're doing it, right?
1:08>> Exactly. That's that's what it is. We get to kick our feet up and just talk kind of like we always do.
1:13>> Yeah. And I learned so much from you.
1:15The folks at home who don't know, Brett is really, in my opinion, the best film expert in the game. Uh, and he's someone
1:21who like just lives and dies on what the film is telling him. So, you're going to hear some takes that, you know, maybe
1:28you wouldn't expect or you haven't heard anywhere else. And like, let me just tell you, like Brett is usually right on
1:33those. You know, when he's out on an island up against the world, like he's batting, I don't know, 75% on those. So,
1:40uh, yeah, really just I I think there's going to be I'll bring the the fantasy takes, you bring the X's and O's, NFL
1:46takes, and, uh, yeah, I'm I'm like I said, I'm really excited.
1:50>> The feelings mutual there, cuz like one thing I've learned about you over the years is, uh, if you have a flimsy
1:55argument, you will find the holes and and poke right through them. and you've you've caused me to be better at logic
2:02and and arguing points. Even if it is film based, you you've gotten my film takes more dialed in just because of
2:07your persistence in trying to poke holes in all of my takes.
2:11>> That's where like all of I think our mutual best takes have have come from is where like independent from each other,
2:18I see this in the data and you know I think this matters. I'm not hearing anyone else talk about it. And then I
2:25come to you and you're like, "Bro, yeah, I you know, I was just seeing the same thing two weeks ago and or like with
2:31with uh film versus analytics for the NFL draft content, it's the Yeah, it's like you and I independently arrived at the same thing and then we the exact
2:39same and then like it it strengthens our confidence in that because, you know, we're we're aligned for two different reasons and then those end up becoming
2:48our best calls."
2:49>> Exactly.
2:52Well, should we get started here, buddy?
2:54>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You want me to read off the first question?
2:56>> Sure. Go ahead.
2:57>> Okay. You're on the clock and need a receiver, AJ Brown or Drake London?
3:04>> Also, thank you, Bendy, for the question there, sir. Oh, um I This might be contrarian right off the bat. I mean, you're the fantasy expert,
3:14so just let me go first and then you can dunk on me if you need to. I think I'm going Drake London.
3:21And it's uh man, it's it's tough because there's there's enough like upside swing potential with the AJ Brown thing. And I
3:28know you're going to say upside wins championships, but London is just so freaking steady, man. Like, he is so good. He's done it with bad quarterback
3:37play his whole career already, and I feel like he just keeps getting better and better and better. And I I do have
3:43legit concerns that AJ Brown is just not the same guy he was. Um, obviously I'm open to being proven wrong, but the the
3:51GPS data, I I said it on the show with Graham the other day. It's just some of the numbers I've been looking at the
3:56last we've seen drop offs the last two years. This could be injury related. It could be gaff related of course, but I
4:01don't know. And so just the inherent risk you have to take for AJ Brown for me also in a new environment as well. It
4:07just I don't know. It's a little much for me. I think I like London just a titch above AJ Brown right now.
4:14>> Yeah, I so I agree. Uh Drake London I think is really one of my flag plan.
4:19Well in like round two I kind of like only want to draft running backs round except for Drake London. When Drake
4:26London's there I make the exception for him. If you look at what he did last season he was looking like a major
4:31league winner up until uh that PCL injury in week 11 um or maybe week 12.
4:38But he also started off the season with an AC sprain injury. Um, but if you just look at like in between those Oh, if you
4:46just look up until his first missed game from the PCL injury, he averaged 10.5 targets per game, 109 yards per game,
4:5424.5 fantasy points per game. Over his last six, he hit 100 yards in five of six games. And so, yeah, he he was
5:02really setting the world on fire. He looked like, you know, hey, maybe this guy should be in like the Jamard uh
5:08Chase, the Puka Nua range. And then with AJ Brown, like you said, you know, I I certainly see the upside for, you know,
5:14what he was able to accomplish on the Titans and the Eagles, and those were offenses that always rank bottom three in passing yards per game where, yeah,
5:22the Patriots just ranked top three in passing yards per game last year. So, like maybe he just, you know, breaks the
5:28league. Uh, but like you said, yeah, he's getting up there in age. Uh, Matt Harmon also noted it looks like he sees
5:35a decline on the film. some of the injury experts Jeff Mueller has has been saying for a couple of years like just
5:42with the conditions that he has this might be a player you want to get out a year early on rather than a year late.
5:49And then there's also like a a hidden a hidden thing that's like um I call Drake May the the Mao Dong of
5:58quarterbacks because he likes to spread the wealth. Uh, apparently this is something he's been doing since high school where at halftime he would like
6:05go and ask, you know, how many yards each wide receiver had and he wanted to to make it level and you kind of I mean,
6:13at least you saw it last year where like Stefan Diggs will have a big game and then it'll disappear and it'll be Deario
6:18Douglas and then it'll be Kahan Bouty and it's like, well, Diggs is clearly the best guy. Why can't we just can't he
6:24just go nuclear? Um, but yeah, it's you know, this isn't an easy one. I I I I do agree with you. I would lean Drake
6:32London here though.
6:37>> Next question uh is from Blackmamba.
6:40Sell me on Bejan as a top three pick from the three hole. If Gibbs and Chase are both gone, is there anyone else to
6:47consider? And so I'll just I'll just start us off on this one. Um yeah, I I I think it's like Bejan by a
6:55landslide. I I don't like Chase Chase is awesome, but um you know like the Rams wide receiver one has outscored Jamar
7:03Chase every year of his career except for one. So I don't know that it's not Puka over Chase even. But then just
7:09looking at Bejon versus Chase, dude, everything I'm seeing with Bejon is like he could have a 10,000 season this year.
7:17He could he could really just absolutely break leagues. He hit 30 fantasy points in five of his last eight games last
7:24year. uh finished with the 12 most yards from scrimmage of any player in NFL history. Uh he had more receiving fantasy points per game than Lad Mani
7:33and Alec Pierce last season. And that's just what he did as a pass catcher and now know Tyler Alier. So this is a take
7:40I've had uh producer Trey has had it as well.
7:44I wonder if this isn't like the glory days of fantasy football where, you know, Leanian Thomasson went 101 and then Priest Holmes or Shawn Alexander or
7:54whoever went 102. And it's like, you're not going to win your league unless you have the 101 or 102. Like, you should
8:02just switch to an auction league because those just might be power loss seasons to the effect where it was impossible to
8:09win without them. Uh, so really, yeah, like any question where it's like, hey, do you I could pick my draft spot. Where
8:17should I should I should it's it's 101 and then it's 102. I personally have Gibbs 101 and then I have Bejon 102 and
8:27then it feels like a big tear drop. Like I love Jamar Chase, I love Puka, but those two guys this year I think could
8:35really break leagues in a way that's like hard to comprehend.
8:39Yeah, I I kind I'm kind of with you there. I do think Bejan like if I'm picking three and he's there, I'm taking
8:44him. I do think though there is a downside case to him that really no one has talked about. Probably because the
8:50talent, you know, we think the talent exceeds >> possibly the situation. I just look at a couple factors that are just kind of
8:57worrying me a little bit. Um the Falcons offensive line is is sort of in decline.
9:03You know, they lost their their stalwart right tackle and Caleb McGary to retirement. Jawan Taylor is not a bad player, but he's just a league average
9:11tackle at this point. Um, they lost Drew Dolman in free agency a year ago. They have not really done much to replace
9:16him. Ryan, uh, I can't even pronounce his last name, is the current center.
9:21And it's just, it's a below average starter for them. And so, that offensive line that was fantastic, has taken two pretty big hits. You also have other
9:29guys aging a little bit on the offensive line. And then you mix that in with the fact that Kevin Stefonsky is not a good
9:35head coach to me. Um, when Joe Marino and I >> Stfansky, >> why did you say that like a French person?
9:41>> Is that not how you say? Is this Is it Stfansky? Sorry.
9:45>> You need You need that uh that Jersey Ruckers.
9:47>> Maybe I'm just Yeah, maybe I'm just talking in a Jersey accent. I don't know. Stfan sounds like you're like sniffing a glass of wine or something as
9:56you say that.
9:57>> Yeah, I should I should ask my wife, the grammar expert. But anyways, no, you're good. You're good. I don't think Kevin
10:03Stfansky is a uh is a very good head coach. And then like when Joe Marino and I did our head coaching rankings on
10:10first read, we both put him in the F tier. So like I think that's a big issue. And you look at like his tenure
10:17in Cleveland, he had Nick Chub in tow all those years and still ran a split backfield. How much more valuable would
10:23Nick Chub have been in fantasy if it wasn't for Kevin Stfansky? And it's just it's just a little troubling. Again, this is just a downside case for I'm
10:31still taking Bejan at three if he's there obviously, but I think there is a little bit of a dark side here that no
10:37one is really considering.
10:39>> Interesting. Um I don't know. Yeah, I think when you have a guy who is as good of a pass catcher as he is, like things like the
10:49offensive line don't really matter, like the rushing scheme efficiency and I don't know. I I I don't think he's going to lose more touches than he did last
10:59season to Tyler Algier. This is something Ryan Heath talks about a lot is, you know, pass catcher passcatching running backs are sort of a dying breed
11:07in comparison to a couple of years ago.
11:09Um, or like, you know, back when I'm thinking of like the Darren Sprouls and the Matt Forte's, but like Bejon and
11:17Gibbs and a healthy CMC too, those three in particular just seemed like different than anyone else where Bejan had over 100 targets last year. Like I said, more
11:27receiving fantasy points per game than Lad Makanki where he's such a, you know, dual threat weapon. It feels like I should never have to worry about floor.
11:36And then when we're talking about ceiling, it's like really just break leagues. But yeah, I don't know. Maybe maybe you're right. I can give that some
11:42more thought. Um, I want to pivot to one of my questions.
11:46>> Well, hold on, hold on, hold on. We got a super chat here. We got >> Oh, nice.
11:51>> Keeping Puka at 10 overall in a 10 team PPR start three wide receiver league.
11:56You're on the clock to pair with Puka, AJB, AJ Brown, Saquon, Bowers, Chase Brown, or London.
12:05>> London.
12:06>> Yeah, I'm thinking London also.
12:08>> Yeah, I I I really like, like I said, really like London this year. Um, and then I'd probably go >> I would go Saquon after that.
12:19>> Yeah.
12:20>> Here's the thing about going London, though, Scott. It it is. I mean, you've been preaching heavy RB year for first
12:27and second round picks. So, for him to start a draft puke of London, that's a little scary, is it not?
12:32>> Um, yeah, but I I don't know. I I'd kind of go where the value is there. Um, and it's a three wide receiver, you
12:41know, you could say that. Um, so it's different than like your typical ESPN 10 or or 12 teamer. Um, yeah, I'd go
12:48London. And you know, I'm still working through my rankings right now. It was like last year I felt a little bit
12:53better, you know, pushing my team's RB2 like later in drafts just because I I felt like the Cam Scataboo in like round
13:03eight or whatever it was was like such a mustdraft pick. I'm struggling to find a a Cam Scataboo this year. And so if I if
13:11I think I have one but like not totally in love with it. And if that's the case, then then yeah, like it's it's really
13:17going to push me to be much more RB focused early in drafts for the most part.
13:22>> Fair fair point there. Thank you for the super chat, Tyler. Appreciate it.
13:26>> Yeah, thank you. Uh so a question for me. I I brought this up on yesterday's show. Um Amika is the toughest player
13:34for me this year. um working out my rankings, working on I like to put all my thoughts together in this like
13:42research notebook that eventually I'll publish and this one this one took me like two days like it just I really struggled with it. Um so what went wrong
13:51with Amika Buuka last year? Was it the hamstring? Was Baker playing hurt? Was he was playing out out of position? He
13:59was in the X and now he's in the Z this year. Was it he struggled against press coverage? What what happened?
14:06And what are your thoughts on that?
14:07>> Yeah, you realize you're asking the wrong guy, right? Like I was I just mean that because like I was out on Eggbuka
14:15being a first round pick. He goes in the first round and then struggles and then all the struggles he has are mostly
14:21related to my evaluation of him. So for me, I'm just like, yeah, this is common sense. I don't know why anyone is
14:26puzzled by this, right? But here to give him a little benefit of the doubt, Baker Mayfield did play with basically a blown
14:33out shoulder. the final what six or seven games of the season that probably had an impact. But this is a classic
14:40case of just coach speak just being overblown and ridiculous. Ekbuka played the Z last year. People saying he was some X or some like he was for all
14:49intents and purposes their Z last year and I don't know where we got off on this. Yeah. Did he have reps at X?
14:55Absolutely. That's most NFL offenses rotate around like all three guys will play all three positions at times. But he was their Z. So this idea that oh
15:04everything's fixed now he's going to be in the Z- roll and it's just it's a lot of hoopla for nothing. Um yeah, so I
15:11would I would say the the combination of like I don't think Agbuka was ever meant to be a dominant outside receiver as a
15:18route runner. That's not his strength.
15:19He doesn't have the gas, the the separation skills to to really take advantage of matchups out there.
15:27So you combine that fact with, you know, the injury early in the season, then the Baker injury. Yeah, I think that's why
15:32he disappointed a lot.
15:34>> Yeah. So, the way I'm framing it in my head is like, well, the first five weeks of the season, he was a top three
15:40fantasy wide receiver. He had the third most fantasy points by any wide receiver through first five career games since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Shout out
15:49Ryan Heath for that stat. And like, so he just looked like he was wrecking leagues. And then immediately week six picks up this hamstring. Baker Mayfield
15:55was on the injury report 11 different times with like 25 different injuries.
15:59his he had the league's worst catchable target rate after that first fiveweek stretch. And then yeah, I think that the X toz thing matters. I mean, like you
16:10said he wasn't playing the X, but like one thing that really showed up in the data and you know, a couple of um Tampa
16:16Bay beat writers have have remarked on was how much he struggled in press coverage where like teams really kind of saw that and just like spammed it. Like
16:23Detroit went all out on press coverage against him. The Saints did that as well. And so he had the worst separation
16:29win rate against press coverage last year. I think in the second half he had, you know, among the worst yards per
16:35route runs. Although I haven't filtered it within the data suite to see whether that's X or Z or what. But I do know Z
16:42receivers get pressed a lot less often than X receivers. Right.
16:48>> Well, yeah, because they're by nature they're on the line of scrimmage, so they're they have the quarterbacks have access to their chest a lot faster.
16:55>> Yeah. and and then but then at the end of the year he was he was basically the team's wide receiver four like he was
17:00splitting wide receiver three duties with Jaylen McMillan and so it just ended in total disaster and you know I'm the upside wins championships guy like
17:08I'll I'll gravitate more towards Amika Ibuka's um upside and worry a little bit less about the downside but maybe not if
17:15Godwin goes so much cheaper than he does like can you see that could you see a possibility for Godwin to to lead the
17:23team in fantasy points or maybe even McMillan I as of right now I I do kind of feel like Godwin might um that's a really
17:31tough puzz puzzle to figure out in my opinion. Also I want to note Ibuka he ran almost 500 routes last year and only
17:38like 80 of them were pressed. So like >> like whoop-dedoo basel. I don't know that's that's not that crazy to me. Uh
17:46as far as the Godwin thing like I don't know man I feel like this trio is really tough to figure out. And then
17:53you also have, you know, Ted Hurst working into a rookie who I think is probably the only guy on the roster that
18:00has the build and and skill set to play X. So, I don't even know how he factors in yet because when I when I'm looking
18:06at constructing my best 11 personnel lineup, I feel like it has to include Ted Hurst, but do the coaches see it
18:13that way? I don't know. So, this is a really tricky puzzle to figure out.
18:16>> I really like him. They've they've hyped him up like crazy. TZ Johnson, too, by the way, was a analytics darling for me.
18:22Yeah, Tez is he was phenomenal last year. He was phenomenal in college. He just like a skill set that's really hard
18:28to kind of project to the NFL and I think that's where people struggle, but the NFL has been traditionally lower on
18:33those slot only types in general and that's probably why he went undrafted and and whatnot, but he he was great as
18:38a rookie. So, um I Scott, I really kind of hope they trade Chris Godwin to a wide receiver needy team coming out of
18:45camp. I know that's speculative, but like maybe the Raiders.
18:49>> I mean, Raiders can use a lot of help.
18:52Hey, I wanted to point this out is immediately after I gave you grief for uh the Stfansky pronunciation, Motion Man came in and was like, "Oh, Scott is
19:00is talking smack on pronly." That's the the uh you know you know uh what is it the the pot calling the kettle black
19:09whatever. Yeah. And um immediately immediately right after I I mispronounced uh Amika Igbuka's name.
19:16It's a Mecha.
19:19>> Amecha.
19:20>> You got a lot in your closet. You don't need to be talking to me about Strafonsky. You know what I mean?
19:25>> That's right. That's right. That's right.
19:27>> We did get another super chat here though.
19:29>> Okay.
19:30>> Uh Trey, you want to throw that up?
19:33>> Fantasy meatball, please answer my long trade question. You two and all of fantasy points have helped me so much.
19:41Try to have a break at 10 a.m. show. Oh, and this is okay. Here it is. Okay.
19:45Trade for Judkins. Use my 28 first and 27 midsec. If he declines it, should I
19:54add a Jonathan Brooks or my other two thirds, 26 and 27 picks?
20:02I have G&T, CMC, Chase Brown, Jonathan Brooks. All right. trade for J.
20:06>> Genty. [laughter] >> This guy.
20:09>> And I mispronounced Genty, too.
20:10>> Yeah.
20:11>> Genty.
20:11>> Genty.
20:13>> Yeah. I I Dude, I called Legar Blunt.
20:16Legar Blount for like 10 years.
20:19>> Talk about a French twist right there.
20:21Blount.
20:22>> Yeah.
20:22>> Hey, can we pull that back up on the screen? I already forgot what it was.
20:25>> Yeah, it was a lot of information to process.
20:27>> He did warn us.
20:32Well, uh, well, first off, what's your take on Judkins? Let's start there while we wait for this tweet to get back up
20:38there.
20:38>> Yeah, I, uh, you know, I I didn't like him as a prospect coming out, as you remember. Uh, I don't like the offensive
20:44environment with a brand new head coach who, you know, wasn't part of the regime that drafted him and then probably the
20:52worst offensive line in football. At least that's the case according to Scott Dean Adetto. it's going to be a bad offense uh that's going to struggle to
21:00get first downs, gain yards, enter red zone. Um and so yeah, I don't really like him and I don't like the idea of
21:06trading a first and a second for him.
21:09Let and and certainly not a first, a second, and Jonathan Brooks and certainly not when you already have G&T, CMC, and Chase Brown. Like, what are you
21:16trying to do here, guy? I think you're I think you're just trying to show off how awesome your fantasy team is. And yo,
21:22shout shout out to you. That's a sick That's a sick uh squad of running backs right there. So >> yeah, that's
21:29>> I wouldn't make this trade personally.
21:30Yeah.
21:31>> Yeah, that's a lot of capital to give up for uh a position you've got already got nailed down pretty good there. So think
21:36I'd avoid. Um I I just wanted to push back. I I love Scott Debenadetto, one of my guys. You know, he he works in my
21:43department at the company. I love him to death. I disagree with the ranking of the Browns offensive line. So just wanted to put that out there.
21:50And you know, for for Scott, having worked for the Cleveland Browns for 10 years, I I do wonder if there's a little
21:55uh >> little angst coming out in those rankings. You know what I mean? Like should have done should have done more
22:00things my way, and we wouldn't be in the situation we're in here. [laughter] So, >> maybe he's right.
22:04>> But, uh, >> all right, I get one more one more question from you. Um, >> who is better at football, George
22:10Pickins or CD Lamb?
22:11>> Oh, good lord. Um, I was so hoping this came up.
22:15>> Oh, interesting.
22:16>> Yeah. In fact, there's another question in here somewhere. We'll get to it, but my answer is going to be CD Lamb for the
22:21other question. I think right now it's George Pickkins Scott.
22:26>> Yeah.
22:26>> And I'm I'm a little worried about Lamb.
22:28There there someone asked us a question I saw in the show sheet about uh who's the biggest landmine first round pick
22:35and I think it's CD Lamb.
22:37>> Whoa. Oh, >> and I know Grant Barfield vehemently disagrees with me on this. And uh I guess that's the the fun tension we get
22:45to live in here at Fantasy Points, but I George Piggin just is a complete alpha, does everything receiver. He's awesome at the catch point. His route running
22:55has gotten so good. You see the circus level catches all the time. Um he's good getting off press. He can play the X. He
23:01can line up as a big slot. He can play in the Z. He's fast. He's pretty good after the catch. Obviously, he's a head
23:07case and I think people genu genuinely just don't like him. But based on the tape last year, I'm really worried about
23:13CD Lamb. So, parlaying the two the two questions together here, I'm really worried about CD Lamb. When they were on the field together last year, George
23:21Pickkins outscored him by 90 fantasy points Scott.
23:25>> 90.
23:26>> Wow.
23:26>> That That's a lot over the totality of a season, let alone just in the moments they're on the field together. Like,
23:31that's >> that's incredible. And I know CD was dealing with injuries, but guys, that's >> that's the nature of the NFL. I feel
23:37like we have this habit of we want to curve everything to all these excuses for guys we like, but we don't do it for
23:42guys we don't.
23:43>> It's it's really hard to, in my opinion, to grave on a curve curve for stuff like that because he was on the field. And so
23:49if you're on the field, it's it is really tough for me to kind of like parse through that. I just think
23:54Pickkins is awesome, man. And and for Dallas pass game could be, you know, best in the league this year to be
24:00honest with you.
24:01Yeah. So, so part of why I asked this is like how just how impressive he was to me last year and even the year before
24:06that in an Arthur Smith offense. Like how many guys have we like DK Medaf um Drake London just like beat dead in an
24:14Arthur Smith offense. And he he looked great. And so like to me he coming into the year he was like all right this is
24:20always going to be a better in real life football than fantasy football. He's not a high-end target earner which is what
24:25really matters for fantasy. I think CD Lamb still is the better target earner.
24:30Whereas George Pickins, he leads the league in hero catches every year. He's top three in yards after the catch per reception. He uh you know is always
24:38really high in ass. But really those highlight reel catches um that maybe don't translate as neatly as just being spam targets. Um, but then last year,
24:49no, this is like, you know, an elite wide receiver and he he like I pulled up the numbers over the last three years.
24:57This was shocking to me. He's basically tied with Jamar Chase and everything.
25:01And like that is certainly not the perception that George Pickins could be like a Jamar Chase tier uh talent at least outside of Dallas. And like man,
25:08these numbers were mind-blowingly good.
25:11Like you said, you know, he was he was really the alpha. I think even if you would control for that injury like after
25:18the by-week on it was like week 11 on it should have been fully healthy like it was pickins ahead of CD Lamb in
25:25production and so yeah like why would I take CD Lamb round one where like even if it's even if it's wrong even if CD
25:32Lamb is still the one it's like you have this you know killer wide receiver too and it's you know it's it's hard to be
25:40as productive as you are when you know there's two great guys. So, um, I really like that take. I think that's super
25:46interesting.
25:47>> That yards per target over expectation stat down there on that graphic is insane. By the way, >> yeah, that's, you know, one 1.73 over a
25:54threeear span is like top three.
25:56>> Yeah, I mean that that's disgusting.
25:58>> I wanted to ask you a question actually because you just said the the buzzword that I it makes my skin crawl every time
26:04I hear it. as a film guy, you you guys the fantasy guys and the specifically you data guys like to use the word I
26:11didn't say that in a in a de a demeaning way.
26:15>> I wasn't saying you guys you nerds but I'm about to depending on your answer here >> you guys.
26:20>> Yeah, you like to say the word target earner. What does that mean to you, Scott? Because what that what when I
26:27hear that word I think of something I think it's totally different than what you say. What does target earner mean to
26:32you and the the data community? Targets are earned. Targets are like an efficiency stat. It's it's like ass.
26:39It's like you have to get targets because you got open. You're not You don't get targets when you're blanketed in coverage. That's that's what it
26:46means. So Deontay Johnson to me, like he was always a guy I'm like, he is so much more talented than he gets credit for.
26:52Yeah, I know his yards per target suck, but he's getting all these targets for a reason. And it's because he's good. It's
26:58because he gets open. Because he gets open quickly. It's because, you know, he's he's trusted by the quarterback. He knows, you know, the play call
27:05perfectly. He knows where he's supposed to be. He can stop on exactly that spot.
27:09He has good chemistry. It is trusted by the quarterback. Blah blah. So, a million things like that. What does it mean to you? Is that right? Is that
27:16wrong?
27:17>> Well, I think it gets misappropriated for a guy who gets targeted a lot. And sometimes target is just a function of
27:23like a person's targets as a function of opportunity sometimes where it's like, well, we didn't have anything else.
27:28Like, here's a classic example. Mai Lemon coming out of college this year.
27:33Everyone said this dude is a target earner for why? Because he ran drag routes into space with nobody near him.
27:39Literally Scott Barrett could do that role. Is Scott Barrett a target earner, a highle target earner worthy of >> a first round pick because he got
27:47targeted at an obscene rate because of the offense and the situation and and opportunity he was in. No. So I just
27:53think target earner the the phrase gets overused a ton. And by the way, like I love the ASM metric. It's, you know, I
28:02created it. It's it's awesome. However, it's not the end all beall for wide receivers. There's a lot more skill that goes into playing wide receiver than
28:10simply just separating. And so I think to kind of like tie a bow on the convotes, like just because a guy
28:16separates doesn't necessarily mean he's a target earner. Did he separate at the right depth of route? Did he separate?
28:22Does he have ball skills? Can he track the ball well? Is he does he bring coverage back into his window because
28:28he's late jumping on the ball? Like there's all kinds of factors that go into playing wide receiver that like ass doesn't ass is a great metric and it is
28:35super predictive. However, it's not the like the holy grail of wide receiver play. There's there's a little bit more that goes into it than that.
28:41>> Well, this just means we need to invent a new stat, Brett. We need we need to earn targets. So So get working on that,
28:46please.
28:47>> Earn t Oh, I I like where your head's at. I got to workshop that a little bit.
28:51>> Hell yeah. That's that's awesome. Uh, I'm I'm gonna stick with some questions that I had. Um, oh yeah, so we were talking about this
29:00over the phone. There was this weird little sweet spot in drafts where you're like, well, you were like, I think QJ is
29:06going to be one of my guys this year, which is sort of a hot take. It's like in the best streets, you say you like
29:13QJ, you like you get clowned on so badly. Like you're an idiot. You're like the dumbest drafter in the You like QJ?
29:21Really? Oh my god. Uh and and I'm like I'm like, "Yeah, man." Like uh I could kind of see where your head's at. Um but
29:29he he goes right in front of Alec Pierce though who he's like, "Oh, okay. That's that's kind of high. Yeah, I don't know.
29:36Maybe I like Alec Pierce." I'm like, "And then Alec Pierce goes like one pick above Courtland Sutton." You're like, "Oh, well, I really like Courtland
29:41Sutton." I'm like, "Well, this is just like a really interesting sweet spot in drafts we should talk about." So So why
29:47don't you make your pitch on on QJ and then we'll kind of go in order of the wide receivers here. Yeah. F first off,
29:53like I I just want to set the foundation for who QJ is.
29:57>> Oh, I I think he gets a bad rap because >> Quinton Johnston.
30:01>> Yeah. Well, no, no. I Yeah, that's not what I meant by set the foundation. But Quinton Johnson, Chargers receiver, first round pick three years ago, I
30:10think when he was drafted in the first round because of recent success stories of guys just hitting the ground running, being awesome right out of the gate, did
30:18he struggled a little bit as a rookie and then it it's taken some time to get him to where he's at now. But that for
30:23me, I've never held that against him because that's who he was coming out. He was incredibly raw, pure project wide receiver with with really cool tools and
30:31intangibles that I felt like with development could turn into a great wide receiver and we're starting to see that development, right? So, um, so that
30:40that's the foundation I wanted to lay.
30:42It's like we we get a little bit skittish because he wasn't an Amanra or a puka who had 90 catches as a rookie or
30:48whatever. Um, but here we go. Top 20 uh route win rate the last two years. Um, so among all receivers, I think there's
30:56140 eligible in that sample size.
30:58>> Can Can you explain why that is that his ass is really bad, but his win rate's a lot better.
31:03>> Yeah, I I was getting there. Um, so the way average separation score works is it's a weighted scoring system. So we
31:10grade every route win on a scale and the average separation score likes the big wins, those plus twos and plus 3's more
31:20than the plus on's. That's that's the first thing. Conversely, >> but but for his role, maybe the win rate matters more.
31:28>> Exactly. For his role, the win rate matters more. But also, it it really doesn't like negative scores. And so, when you look at uh in 2024 and in 2025,
31:39QJ, here I am being a hypocrite because I'm going to adjust because of an injury. But, uh in 2024 and 2025, he was
31:46on the injury report for x amount of weeks in in both years. when you remove those games from the sample, that
31:52negative uh route win rate goes way down and his ass goes way up to the point where it's not like it's not amazing,
32:02but it gets him well above average. And I think that's that's important. Um cuz it's not like as you stated it, his win
32:10rate is ex is extraordinarily high, but the separation score is is below average if we're being honest. So those two factors though, you know, I think are
32:18really important for his role just simply winning routes because he is a big body um long wingspan contested catch guy who's phenomenal after the
32:27catch. Um and then you factor in that, you know, when he when he plays injured, and he does play injured, uh he plays
32:34through injuries, unlike some players, that those negative reps kind of pile up a little bit. And I think that's uh it's
32:40important. The other thing I love about him, Scott, number one in force missed tackles per reception this past year.
32:45number six in pass rating when targeted the last two years. And then his his reps, you know, against man are really
32:51impressive. And last year to start the season, he actually was Justin Herbert's preferred man beater in that offense. It wasn't Lad Mananki or Ronda Gatson or
33:00Keenan Allen. It was Quinton Johnston.
33:02So, and then I I I say all that to say this, Mike McDaniel, the new OC coming in, he prefer I think there's this weird
33:08miscalculation that Lad is automatically going to be his preferred choice at wide receiver because he's smaller and faster and like a Tyreek Hill or a Jaylen Wadd.
33:17The problem with that is Lad's not even close to those guys in skill set. He's not even as clo not nearly close to
33:23those guys in terms of explosiveness either. QJ on the other hand is one of the more dynamic run after catch prospects we've had in a really long
33:30time. That's the whole reason he got drafted in the first round is because you could give him a Debo Samuel type
33:35role. He was awesome after the catch at TCU. So that's my bull case for Quinton Johnson. I just think, you know, we
33:43we've seen really good development from him through three years and I I think this year he takes it to another level.
33:48I think Mike McDaniel kind of resetting the foundation of the offense is going to be actually good for him, not bad for
33:53him.
33:54>> Yeah. So, I think the first seed that was planted in my mind was that, you know, Mike McDaniel kept talking
34:01about wanting to get the ball out quicker for Justin Herbert, speed up his time to throw. And you look at throw
34:07like quick throws over the last in each of the last two years, it was QJ who had the better target per route run than Lad
34:14Maki. It was actually Keenan who who led the team last year, but still QJ better in both seasons. I'm like, "Oh, that's
34:19interesting. I would have thought it it went the other way." And then you have uh Mike McDaniel comparing him to Julio
34:25Jones and Andre Johnson. Um but like I think the best comp is Debo Samuel U where it's another guy who very
34:33overrated separator couldn't really separate all that well but like yards after catch God missed tackles force God which was like you said QJ led the
34:42league in miss tackles force perception last year. Then if you see this on the screen was an all-time great Yak miss
34:49tackle force machine coming out of college but at the time you and I both said it's super raw. Um and you know
34:56maybe you could do something with this with like pepper him with screens or whatever but super raw in a plenty of
35:01other areas which have come to light but but to your credit and to Dro in the comments with regard to injuries last
35:08year. Uh if you just exclude week five, he had a hamstring injury, which honestly might have lingered longer beyond week five. Week 11 when he came
35:16in questionable with a shin injury and week 14 where he left the game early with an injury. Just those three games,
35:21just exclude those three, that's it. Uh QJ averages 16.1 fantasy points per game over his last 12. That would have ranked
35:27above Nico Collins, above AJ Brown, would have ranked top 10. Lad Maki in comparison just 11.6 fantasy points per game over his last 12. and his season
35:37high came in a game that QJ missed. So, I am I don't know that I'm in on QJ.
35:43Like, I think if you look at Yahoo and ESPN, he's actually pretty cheap. But at least on underdog, wide receiver 38 by
35:49ADP, it's a bit high for me. Um but uh but like Lad Macy, I'm all the way out on, you know. So, sorry Ryan Heath, I
35:57know that's your boy. That's Ryan Heath.
35:59Could be the next J this year's JSN, but um I see way too much risk. Uh, and it and it really makes me nervous.
36:08>> What? Go ahead.
36:09>> I It's funny because I want to hit the sweet spot receiver group we're talking about, but I also we did get a question
36:14about Mike McDaniel specifically. And by the way, I think I called him Mike McDonald a minute ago. That's my bad.
36:20>> Um, Trey, if we could find that. Sorry, Motion Man.
36:25Uh, yeah. Ted, uh, Teddy Salad gave us a question. Are people getting ahead of their skis when it comes to Mike
36:33McDaniel and automatically penciling in the LAC offense as the next coming?
36:39What do you think?
36:41>> I So, this is this is a Brett take, but I will say I was thinking I I I was thinking of this just the other day. We
36:48listen, we know Mike McDaniel loves a very runheavy offense. It's just not It's not just a super runheavy offense.
36:55It's also a very It could be slower paced offense. You know who ranked dead last in plays per game last year? It was
37:02the Miami Dolphins. So, everyone's like, "Ah, I can't draft Devon Aan. You know, Malik Willis, they're they're going to rank the play volume's not there." They
37:10were dead last year with Mike McD and like is there a chance LAC is significantly slower paced, more runheavy. Um, and I feel like this is
37:19your take. Is that is that right?
37:21>> Yeah. I mean, that part of it, but also the big red flag for me with Mike McDaniel is when he didn't have Tyreek
37:28Hill at his disposal, he had one of the worst offenses in the league year-over-year. The onoff splits for Tyreek are damning. Like, EPA per play
37:37drops to bottom five in the league. EPA per run even drops like like by double.
37:43Like, they get half as efficient when Tyreek wasn't on the field in the run game. And the pass game obviously falls
37:50off a cliff as well. And so yards per carry drops by like I think one and a half yards or something. Um it's it's
37:58just it's not pretty. And then you look at the in-game decision-making for McDaniel and I just it it's really troubling.
38:06So really outside of that one >> are we are we hitting him with the fake sharp tag?
38:10>> I I think we are. Yeah. [laughter] >> Yeah.
38:14>> This is you this is really a you're alone on an island take. This is and hey, I have MVP bets on one player right
38:21now. If if I were in a legal state, it'd be different actually tonight. But uh and it's on Justin Herbert and where
38:27it's like, hey, this is the best quarterback a MC Shanahan tree coach has ever had. You know, Tua, sure the offense sucked last year. Like you said,
38:35no, Tyreek. No, dude. Tua, do are you still a Tua believer? Is is he not like an awful I don't know. This is breaking
38:41my brain, Brad. Yeah, sorry. Go on.
38:44Well, and it's, you know, Joe Marino is actually the one who like kind of presented me with most of these facts at
38:49first because when the when the Lions were in search for a new offensive coordinator, that's my team for those that don't know. I was kind of like,
38:56yeah, they they were setting up an interview with Mike McDaniel and I was excited about that. And Joe's like, "Dude, are you crazy? Look how bad this
39:02guy is." And he was sending me screenshot after screenshot from the data suite like, "This is >> Mike McDaniel. This is Mike McDaniel
39:09without Tyreek Hill."
39:10Yeah, there there's merit to the idea that Justin Herbert elevates what Mike McDaniel's doing. Obviously, >> by the way, can we talk about how Tyreek
39:17Hill is the best the the most valuable offensive player non-quarterback of our generation by a landslide. Look at the
39:28Chiefs offense with without Tyreek.
39:30Yeah, they won one Super Bowl. Oh, congrats.
39:33But so so Alex Smith and Tua Tagavolo were like jokes of quarterbacks. They're like they have no arm strength. They're like career journeyman backups. They're
39:43nothing. Tyreek Hill comes the they're the best deep ball passers of the decade. Patrick Mahomes, same thing.
39:50Like he cannot hit a deep ball to save his life anymore. And it's really just I think Tyreek is like a goat of all
39:56goats. Like like Deshawn Jackson level like those guys are so one of one. um where it's it's not just like their
40:04impact on the field where you know Tyreek was pacing for a 2,000 yard season a couple years ago.
40:10>> Um but it's also just like how he makes defensive coordinators [ __ ] their pants not able to sleep weak heading into the
40:17game and they'll sell out to stop him.
40:20They still can't stop him but it also opens up the guy opposite him. Uh do you agree with this take?
40:26>> Oh he's on my Mount Rushmore of wide receiver Scott.
40:29>> Hell yeah. Hell yeah. That would be top four all time to me.
40:32>> He completely broke the NFL.
40:35>> Yeah.
40:36>> Like the era we're living in right now, this 12.
40:39>> Mahomes. Mahomes still gets way more credit and Tyreek not enough credit.
40:44>> And Tua, by the way, owes him like $150 million for the contract he got.
40:49>> That was all Tyreek.
40:50>> It doesn't help that Tyreek's like one of the most unlikable people on planet Earth. But, uh, you know, yeah, he's
40:56he's my my Mount Rushmore wide receivers is is Randy Moss, Tyreek Hill, uh, Megatron, and Jerry Rice.
41:02>> Yeah, that's a that's a great that's a great topic.
41:04>> Yeah. No, I don't think anyone has had a bigger impact at at a single position than Tyreek Hill has on the NFL. Like,
41:10he's totally This era we're living in, this all this setup to beat too high shell, it's 100% because of Tyreek Hill.
41:18>> Yeah. No.
41:20>> So, so, so, um, we we we queued this up as, uh, QJ versus >> Alec Pierce, and this is a guy where
41:29like I I you lean heavy on you for my rankings. Uh, and this is one where I really have to lean heavy on you. I They
41:36gave him a ton of money. The GM, the head coach, they're all like, "Well, we gave him this one. We're expecting him
41:42to be a complete number one receiver. We traded away Michael Pitman. We think he's going to take the next step. This
41:48is a guy who uh easily leads the league or ranks behind only Tyreek Hill in deep fantasy points per game over the last
41:55two years, but basically nothing in the short to intermediate. But like Zayn Donani, who just did his his article on on route depth, was for us was like um
42:06yeah, I'm out on him because like we that role is sticky generally and like usually you don't just magically start getting these. Uh, but the flip side is
42:16like, hey, if he is who he is as a deep threat and he starts getting those, he could absolutely break leagues this
42:21year. Um, and so what are your thoughts on Alec Pierce? This really is a a Brett question, not a Scott question in my
42:29mind.
42:30>> Yeah, and I I really like all three of or I should say, yeah, all three of these receivers here in this bucket. for
42:35Pierce. Like some of it's a bit of a logic exercise where it's like, okay, do you do you believe an NFL team just gave
42:42a guy $30 million to use him as a deep threat only?
42:46>> Do you believe that?
42:48>> No, but it's like you give teams do this constantly where they overpay, they make agency, they don't do this constantly.
42:56>> Like Christian Kirk that that's an overpay by a couple million dollars with the Jacksonville contract. Yeah. Okay.
43:02But he still like it. The overpay didn't exceed the role by that much. It wasn't that crazy. This is insane, Scott. He's
43:09never had more than 84 targets in a season and the man got $30 million. I can't logically believe that the the
43:16Indianapolis Colts are going to just keep Alec Pierce in the same role.
43:18Especially when they go out of their way to trade the alpha exceiver they had in Michael Pitman Jr. who's had three
43:24seasons over 140 targets. Like they made they paved the way for Pierce to come in and get that role. And then I like I
43:31understand Zayn Dani's um the research project. It's it's obviously great. You still have to evaluate the players for who they are. And Alec Pierce coming out
43:40of college was a guy who was awesome at the intermediate level. He was awesome as a route runner on digs and slants and
43:46post. He was awesome on comebacks and hitches.
43:48>> Bro, I don't know if you remember. We watched him together.
43:51>> Yeah, >> we thought he was super underrated in the short to intermediate. It's just like he had the least accurate
43:56quarterback ever.
43:58>> Yeah. Shout out motion man. Desmond Ritter truther over here. Uh yeah, I mean >> do you remember that? Do you remember?
44:05>> Oh yeah, I remember that. Yeah.
44:06>> Okay. Yeah.
44:07>> Yeah. Like I I had a it started because I had a top 40 grade on Alec Pierce and you were like what? Like why? How? And
44:13then we watched him and you're like, "Oh my gosh, this dude's legit." So >> So cuz he was obviously amazing as a
44:18deep threat, but then the short to intermediate like he caught none of those cuz none of those balls were catchable. But just like the movement
44:24skills, there were plays where he just like stopped a D. You're like, damn. Um, and don't forget this is like a 95th
44:30percentile athlete by sport score. So, uh, don't sleep on the white boy. He's he's pretty athletic.
44:36>> Yeah. And then, so there's there's all the vacated targets, too, in in Indianapolis. Josh DS can't stay on the field. Dude's always hurt. He's also a
44:44slot only player who doesn't >> I love Josh DS.
44:47>> I mean, I like him too bad as ADP that he's fine. But I I just I'm all in on Pierce just because it's for me. I just
44:54I can't believe an NFL team handed a guy $30 million to not use him as their premier wide receiver.
44:59>> These teams do stupid things way more often than you than you think. But >> they do a lot of stupid things, but this
45:04would take the cake.
45:06>> Yeah. Yeah. And especially, dude, Pitman's not getting a ton of money. I looked at that contract, I was shocked.
45:11Like I thought he was better than that, but um All right. Well, yeah. So, like, hey, like I said, it's you you look at
45:18this guy who is the b best deep threat in football over the last three years or second only to Tyreek who's the GOAT as
45:24we discussed. Uh, and if he just starts getting some screens, if he starts getting targeted on on curl routes, uh, you know, sky's is the limit for, hey,
45:33an offense that before Daniel Jones fractured his fibula, uh, Daniel Jones was leading the league in passing yards.
45:39So, I think there's there's more upside there than than people think. And then uh the last one was uh Courtland Sutton
45:48>> who I don't know people seem to think that like Jaylen Wadd is just going to come in and and be the alpha here and
45:55Sutton the beta. Um do you think that's right?
46:00>> I can't remember a player who's had as good of a season as Sutton had last year and then like went in the 90s or
46:06whatever. What's his ADP right now? Like 85 or something or 90.
46:09>> I'm showing him wide receiver 39. Yeah, that's that's crazy.
46:14>> Well, yeah. So, [laughter] since here's my stat. Here's my stat. Since since week eight of 2024, Courtland Sutton ranks 12th in XFP per game, 15th in
46:23fantasy points per game, and now he's being drafted as the wide receiver 39.
46:28>> That's crazy. And and >> that's like insane value based on the produ That's like a stock trading at like a 1.1 PE ratio,
46:36>> right?
46:36>> It's like like is Courtland sudden on the verge of going bankrupt? because otherwise this doesn't make sense.
46:41>> Exactly. And and here's my hot take. I think Wadd can come in and and outperform his ADP without Courtland Sutton's R uh role changing at all.
46:51>> Yeah. Yeah. I like that take. Can you can you explain it?
46:54>> Yeah. So, for me, it's like I look at the skill set with Jaylen Wadd. I look at what the Broncos offense under Shawn
46:59Payeyton wants to do. And this really was the missing piece. They've been cobbling this role, this Jaylen Wadd role together between a Troy Franklin
47:07and and your guy Marvin Mims and even some uh who's the cat they drafted last year. They've kind of been working them
47:14all into this this, you know, slot hybrid Z-roll. And I just think Wadd is a supreme talent. So, he's going to come
47:22in, he's going to take all of those reps. And what he's good at, what he excels at, short and intermediate route
47:29running, is exactly who is. Bo Nicks has led every level of football he's played in screens and short passing since he
47:37was at Auburn. You know, le led college football in screen passes since he was at Oregon. Led college football in screen passes since he's been in the
47:43NFL. Led the NFL in screen passes and short passes. This is who he is. Jaylen Wadd lives and thrives in that area. And
47:49so I just think the offense can give all of those opportunities to Waddle and he can thrive in this role similar to a
47:55role he had as a rookie in Miami. I do think Waddle has some some vertical juice to his game that Miami tried to
48:01tap into last year. Um, you know, that necessar didn't necessarily work out here. I wanna I want to talk about this
48:08um this stat on the screen right now.
48:09The man beater versus the zone beater.
48:11Here's my only problem with this. They didn't play together when this when these stats were made. [laughter] And and Scott, you've heard me say this
48:17a million times, but I don't know that the listeners have.
48:20Man success and zone success is a QB stat.
48:24>> Yeah. QBs and offensive coordinators have their preferences for who they want to how they want to attack man, how they
48:30want to attack zone. Knicks has been very comfortable going at man with Courtland Sutton. Now, I'm not saying it changes because Waddles in the mix, but
48:37I we we don't know yet. We don't know till we see them play on the field together whether Wadd will be the zone
48:44beater or the man beater or the both beater or just an all-around good wide receiver. Uh because Wadd absolutely has the skill set to be a man destroyer,
48:52right? So, um I I I wouldn't put a ton of stock into this, but um yeah, so hot take. I think they consolidate the
48:59offense a little bit. I think Knicks in year three, they're going to lean more into a pass pass game approach, especially with RJ Harvey, who struggled
49:06to to run the ball last year, especially with the JK Dobbins who gets hurt every single season. I think you'll see a
49:12little more trust uh handed to Bo Knicks, especially with Davis Webb calling the plays now, too. There there's some value here. I I I like both
49:19of these guys at their ADP a ton. Scott, >> yeah, I I I will say this for kind of all all of these guys. QJ, Pierce,
49:27Sutton, they all kind of feel more like best guys to me. So, I don't know that I'm going to be super in on them
49:32>> in a start sit, but in baseball, I think they're all amazing. Like this this value on Sutton's incredible. Like even
49:37if Wadd comes in and is the alpha like that that people seem to think, so much of his production comes from touchdowns,
49:45which is not like Jaden Wadd's bag. So, like he still feels super safe for me, especially in that underdog half PPR
49:52format. But also, like again, I I don't know that I'm super in on Wadd because this is very much a fantasy points guy.
49:59You know, Ryan's very in on him. Zayn is, you know, super in on him. I think I think I think Graham is in on him. But I
50:07I just like making these devil's advocate arguments. And uh it's like is Waddle really going to come in and turn Sutton from an alpha to a beta when like
50:16we've never seen Jaylen Waddle be an alpha alongside Tyreek Hill. Like if you look at games over the last two years
50:24Tyreek Hill played uh just 15.9% target share 1.78 yards per route run. Those are like wide receiver five or six numbers.
50:34>> I know. Hey, listen. Tyreek Hill is a Mount Rushmore guy, but still you'd expect a little bit more than that,
50:39especially when you know, yeah, like you know, the the stats being cited are Yeah, it was his his primary target competition was a post divorce post rap
50:51career Darren Waller uh who had like 15 different injuries and hadn't played football in two years. So, I don't know.
50:56It's just I just think I just think those kind of arguments uh deserve a little more credit because I'm not hearing them.
51:02>> Sure. You want to hit this uh super chat we just got?
51:05>> Yeah, B Fred props a dumb $20 super chat. Geez, man. Thank you so much, Bred. I see you in here every single
51:12day, too. Shout out to to Beef Fred for being uh being one of us.
51:16>> We're we're doing a a contest. YouTube commenter of the week or or YouTube commenter of the month, but it's just uh
51:24you know, whoever is the best YouTube commenter or whoever is like the the most the best questions, the the funniest comments, uh we're going to
51:33throw a little something your way, whether that's a fantasy point subscription, uh fantasy points hat or shirt or uh something like that. So,
51:42we're going to try and start doing that.
51:43So, please like and subscribe and also leave a a comment and and these comments in the live chat count as well.
51:51>> Probs a dumb question, but I traded my two, three, second, third, and fourth round picks in my home reddraft league.
51:57Wow. To get the one and two overall to have both Gibbs and Bejon as Bej.
52:02>> Does that mean he has three first round picks? He has the one, two, and another firstrounder.
52:08>> No, >> no, that mean he just gets 101 and 102.
52:12Is Bejon worth that hall and trust those two to carry or maybe trade out again? I I mean I think this is fun. This is a
52:19fun way to build a team.
52:20>> Yeah. Well, what if I just say I just said like it could be the 101 and 102 just break leagues this year and this
52:27guy has both of them.
52:30>> Yeah. Reread Upside Wins Championships, but like this is really like I know this kind of sounds stupid, but uh this very
52:37well could be like the smartest trade someone could make. you know, giving up a second, a third, a fourth round pick,
52:43you know, that's like you lost Saquon, Derek Henry, and I don't know, Coulson Lovelin, right? Um, but you got Bejan and Gibbs who again, it's the power law
52:52effect where, you know, Christian McCaffrey when he had his 2019 2021 uh season, it was like almost impossible to win without him. And I I really think
53:03that's kind the kind of upside these two players offer. So, I go ahead. I say to add to that like I think these two
53:10pockets of receivers we've talked about today or I guess this week I should say kind of give me faith that it's still
53:16going to work out like you have that Christian Watson Jameson Williams tier of wide receiver and then after that you have the one we just talked about the
53:23Sutton the Pierce the QJ like you can still get players from those buckets and be fine at receiver and you have
53:29freaking Jir Gibbs and Ban Robinson that's just such an that's a such a fun way to do it I need to get in a reddraft
53:35league where you can trade draft picks I've never been in one That's >> Yeah. Yeah. And again, so yeah, you have
53:40worse depth than everyone else, but like >> Mhm.
53:43>> who cares about depth. You you want superstar players. Like that's the scarce resource depth. You have a waiver wire. So just be active on the
53:52waiverwire. Read our award-winning waiverwire column every week. Use our tools. Check our projections. Yeah. I This is a super fun question and and I
54:02appreciate you uh with a $20 super chat.
54:07clone to the bone.
54:09>> All right. Uh, you want to hit us with the the next question?
54:12>> Uh, sure thing.
54:13>> Well, we just got a super chat. Thoughts on Chase Brown long-term?
54:17>> I will [clears throat] let you hit this and then I'll take it.
54:20>> Yeah, if you're a Dynasty player, obviously the looming contract situation isn't like the funnest news. You know, we if he signed a four-year extension
54:29today in Cincinnati, I'd be like, yes, Chase Brown, smash him for sure. you know, so just the the uncertainty of where he's going to be playing football
54:37next year is it's just a little scary. I do think the Bengals will will try to keep him. However, there's it kind of
54:44knocks him a little bit to me. But I still love Chase Brown. The skill set's awesome. I think he's really proven
54:48himself as a pass catcher. What I I didn't expect coming out of Illinois. He was not a very not not very evolved in
54:54the pass game, but he was a bellcow type runner. So, it's cool to see him put it all together and be a complete back. I I
55:00think he's a very good football player.
55:03Yeah, and I mean it's just an amazing environment to be in is the Cincinnati Bengals. They're going to rank top five
55:09in yards per game, points per game, plays per game every single year. They target the running backs. I So, this is
55:17on the screen. This is, you know, something I've I've meditated on quite a bit that I I don't think people are talking about enough is if
55:24you just look at what he's done in the second half, the last two years versus the first half, like dude, he sucked
55:31weeks one through eight, both last year and the year before sucked. He part it was just a 50% snap share. And then
55:38weeks nine through 18, he lights the league on fire. He was he outscored Bejian Robinson the second half last year, but 20.6 6 fantasy points per
55:46game, 5.8 targets per game, um 77% snap share, uber bellcow, one of the best offense in football. And I kind of worry
55:56that they don't want him to be a bellcow. I because he he kind of lucked into Zack Moss getting hurt his rookie
56:03year. Zack Moss missed the entire second half and then last year Sam Perine got hurt uh dealt with multiple injuries, left multiple games early. He was on the
56:13injury report a lot. Um, and so that's that's kind of my concern. I don't know how much it matters for a guy who, you
56:20know, again, is the potential bellcow for the Bengals, but it is one I keep I keep coming back to.
56:30But yeah, over the last 11 weeks of last season, he averaged um 21 fantasy points per game. Only CMC and Jir Gibbs average more. So, you could
56:41certainly argue I'm just overthinking things and like yeah, he's he's awesome in the short term and long term.
56:53>> Oh, sorry. I I was talking, >> man. I was glitching cuz you never do that.
56:58>> Get the You say that, but that's like two shows in a row I've done that. Oh my goodness.
57:04>> Uh Motion Man, get the get the counter out. Um, yeah, I was I was asking, so obviously you'd rather guys, you know,
57:11score later in the season than early in the season, though, assuming they're not so bad in the early part of the season
57:16that it uh There we go. that it sinks your team, obviously. All right, I got another question for you.
57:23>> You ready?
57:24>> Yeah.
57:25>> From uh on Twitter, C Murray 25. It's so easy to get hyped for Exodia players or any analyst, my guy. But I'd love to
57:34start hearing how early is too early to get these guys. I got Parker Parkw at 79 the other day and wondered if you guys
57:42would be proud or look down your nose at me. Help. I I feel like the answer to this is simple, but the the whole thing
57:49with a player being an Exodia is because of where you should be able to get him at right Scott?
57:54>> Yeah. Yeah, I mean everything is specific to cost, but like when you're an Exodia, it means this is a guy you
58:00could reach a round on and a guy you reach a round on. That doesn't sound right, but you could reach a full round
58:06on a player and he's still a tremendous value. Like this was the case with with Cam Scataboo last year. You watch the
58:13live streams with um or and Drake May, another one. Watch the live streams with Theo Ginger last year. It's like it's
58:20like Cam Scataboo typically goes in round nine in FFPC and it's like round seven I'm like or round six I'm like
58:28dude Cam Scataboo is the best player on the board. He's like well we can get him in round nine and then it's like round
58:33eight comes around and I'm like we have to take Cam Scato. He's like yeah but there's a 50% chance he's here in the
58:38next round. I'm like it doesn't matter.
58:39He should have been off the board two rounds ago. Uh, and so like if I'm naming someone in Exodia, I will, you
58:46know, it's you can you can, you know, pass up that kind of value because there's already so much value there. I
58:53will say with Parker Washington, this isn't a sure thing. This was just, hey, Theo asked me to give away one of my
58:59Exodas early and at the time he was the best value. Price has price has gone up a little bit and there is risk here and
59:07it's risk I want to talk to you about.
59:09We just had a beatw writer come out and say Travis Hunter is going to be playing 60% of the snaps. And there's some games
59:17where it's going to be 40 and some games where it's going to be 80% of the snaps.
59:22Uh, and if that's the case, if we're looking at a potential four-way wide receiver committee situation like that, it could be like Buffalo. I hear you
59:31giggling. Could be like Buffalo.
59:33>> Chad is off the rails right now, dude.
59:34Sorry. [laughter] It could be it could be like Buffalo where Khalil Shakir led the team in route share each of the last
59:40two years but was like 66% which means like no one's going to score no one's going to matter for for fantasy. Um so
59:47it's just Yeah. Like how many snaps do you think Travis Hunter should be playing on offense Brett if he's also fulltime at quarterback?
59:55>> Zero.
59:56>> Yeah.
59:57>> Zero.
59:57>> Why is that? Why is that?
59:59>> He looked super raw last year.
60:01>> Yeah. I mean there's a lot of factors.
60:03He's he's raw as a wide receiver, one, but he's such a good quarterback. That's where all his value is for me. That's
60:09why he was a top five pick is because of what he can give you on defense. He's a smaller guy, smaller frame. Both wide
60:15receiver and corner at the top of the league in attrition rate, too. Corner especially high. Corner is actually number two in the league now um by
60:25percentage of starters that get injured during the season. Running back is the only position higher. If you look at volume of players that get hurt, more
60:32cornerbacks get hurt than any other position in the NFL.
60:36>> Why is that?
60:37>> It's because they're 185 190 pound guys that have to go tackle Tucker Craft and Harold Fannon Jr. and George KD and Derrick
60:46Henry. It's like, yeah, that's a freaking problem. And then and then on top of that, you're you know, throwing your body around, putting your life on
60:53the line. Then you got to go chase guys who run 4-3 50 yards downfield 17 times a game. And it's like that's it's just
61:01not an easy position, man. And so yeah, I want to preserve his body for the thing he's best at. And I know James
61:08Gladstone thought he was galaxy braining that pick when he drafted him to play both positions. But with the the room they got and BTJ Jacobe and our guy
61:15Pwash, they just got to roll with it.
61:17Just roll with those three. You want to mix them in for a screen pass every now and then, fine. But just 0% is my
61:25answer.
61:26>> Yeah. And you know, my analytics bros keep just like chirping in my ear. It's like Travis Hunter is still there.
61:33Travis Hun could get a 40 to 60%. And I I just keep wanting to handwave it. Like they're not going to
61:39take Parker Washington, the GOAT, off the field for Travis Hunter's Makea-Wish wide receiver snaps. Get out of here.
61:46You're crazy. But no, it's that's a real concern that matters. and like there's a real chance this is a gross committee
61:52and Parker Washington bus. It's still to me though balancing the upside and I see real like league winning fantasy wide receiver one upside um versus the cost.
62:03I I'm still very in on it and I think I think it's he's still kind of the case where he's he's mispriced by um maybe a
62:10round or more. Although I I'll really have to see the wide receivers going next to him on >> on whatever site you're drafting from.
62:16But yeah, >> I don't want a victory lap myself, but I did mention these concerns when he was coming out and then sure enough as a
62:22rookie he got hurt, >> you know what I mean? So like I was kind of proven right like right away with
62:26Travis Hunter.
62:27>> Yeah. Yeah. You also you also mentioned uh his play style and how it difficult it's going to be.
62:34>> We got another super chat.
62:35>> Nice.
62:36>> Same. Oh wow. Overcome with another >> $5 super chat. Heard someone share recently he trade away London and a 27
62:43first for neighbors. an analyst I like but don't really like that take thoughts.
62:49>> Yeah, let me >> let me tell you I love Malik Neighbors.
62:53I love Malik Neighbor. I think he is so special. I tweeted this out week two of last season. I said Malik Neighbors is
63:02better than Justin Jefferson. Not a troll take. Not looking for literally believe that. Uh certainly from a fantasy perspective. Certainly from an
63:12NFL perspective, I I could kind of see it, too. And and I love Malik Neighbors, this is an awful trade. You this you're
63:20just giving up way too much value, especially for a guy who's hurt. And so this is a really bad trade, especially
63:26the 2027 first round picks. Like >> that class is going to be awesome off the chains. And anyone knows me knows my
63:34dynasty style. I I hoard first round pick. like that is just the most underrated most valuable asset in the game. It's the universal currency of
63:45dynasties. You could always trade it away or whatever. But uh but if you follow Brett and you follow me, you're also going to outdraft everyone in your
63:52rookie drafts. And that's how you build a juggernaut dynasty. So yeah, that's an awful trade. Do you do you agree or
63:58disagree?
63:59>> I I fully agree with you and and even if I give Neighbors benefit of the doubt, I still wouldn't. Neighbors, in my
64:05experience, Scott is a really hard guy to trade in Dynasty right now because if you're the owner of Neighbors looking to
64:10trade him, people are skeptical because of the injury. And then if you want to acquire Neighbors, you're probably not willing to pay that premium that London
64:17plus a 27 first because we haven't seen him play off the injury. So it's like he's kind of just a hold right now in my
64:22opinion. But >> yeah, what how's how stupid did you think My Neighbors is better than Jefferson take is?
64:30>> I don't think that's necessarily stupid.
64:32I like Jefferson did not have a good year of football last year. And I know some of that might be frustration with
64:37with the QB, but like he was seemingly checked out, didn't look explosive. The route running.
64:43>> Yeah, >> the Vikings were better with him off the field than on the field, >> which is like should never happen when
64:49you're Justin Jefferson. Even just in terms of dictating coverage, like see the 49ers with CMC on the field were the best offense in football. C with with
64:57CMC off the field, they were bottom six off it. Like that's the impact you should expect from But no, they were
65:03better with him off the field last year.
65:05>> And I said this all season long about when I was defending my my boy JJ McCarthy, but uh Jefferson was not
65:12helping him at all. Right.
65:13>> Um hey, we have two super chats to get through. We got Jeff Hicks, >> $5 dynasty concern for two players. I
65:20have T and Lamb.
65:22>> T Bryce Lamb picking age. Should I pivot off them as contender? Who to target?
65:29Aman Ross Stain Brown I'm assuming is who that is in the parenthesis. Uh thank you for the super chat Jeff. This is a
65:35great question.
65:36>> Interesting.
65:36>> If you watched Graham and I Wednesday, uh we are both a little sour on T.
65:43>> Graham doesn't >> Yeah, Graham doesn't think >> the Panthers will resign Bryce. I do.
65:50So, I have to tell you to probably pivot off of I think you can get a ton for T right now and people aren't considering
65:55the fact that Bryce Young stinks enough and had >> he really stinks. He really >> three games over 200 yards last year.
66:02Scott, he had seven straight games a starting quarterback in the NFL. Seven straight games under 200 yards last year in his third year as a pro. Make that
66:12make sense and then tell me you're not scared of Ted long term if he's attached to Bryce Young for his career. That's
66:18scary to me.
66:20Dude, Bryce Young is so bad. So bad.
66:22>> And I've seen T get traded for like like Kings Ransoms in leagues. Shoot, I just traded him for a Kings Ransom in a
66:29league. Uh yeah. So if you can pivot off T for a good price, I'm all in on that.
66:35Scott, you'll have you got to answer the Lamb Pickins one because we already kind of hit that. But for Dynasty, it kind of
66:39reframes it a little bit. I don't know because Pickkins might not be there long term.
66:44>> Hey, that's a great point. Yeah, we didn't touch on it. Just how dude is a nutcase off the field, it seems. and
66:49like look at Brandon Iayuk, look at AB84, that could, you know, really just derail your career potentially. Um, yeah, I think this this tweet I put up
66:58is just kind of perfectly summarizes the McMillan situation. It's like, dude, I think this guy's incredible. He was an Exodia last year. Bryce Young cleared
67:07207 passing yards only three times all of last year. But in those games, in those games, Ted averaged 105 yards per
67:14game. It's just that happened three times for the Panthers. It happened 15 of 17 times for Dallas. And like if you
67:20just control for those games, it's T was better than George Pickins. T was better than CD Lamb. Uh, another crazy Bryce
67:28Young stat. I don't know if I could just make this if I could articulate this perfectly, but um, since he came into
67:34the league, Bryce Young ranks 28th in 300 yard games. Like there's like like Nick Nick Mullen's hit that in three starts, right? And Bryce Young has
67:44started way more games. Um he has 26 career games with 100 to 200 passing yards. That's the most by any quarterback since he came into the
67:54league and the most by any quarterback through their first three NFL seasons all time. Basically, it's just like super rare for a quarterback to be as
68:01unproductive as he was and still keep his job. Uh dude, he has a six yards per car uh yards per pass attempt career
68:08average that's like less than Devon running the ball. Um and so yeah, that's a real concern. Uh maybe Hannes King, our our guy. Dro,
68:18>> my guy. What's my guy?
68:19>> Our guy. Our guy. Um uh I He's just still so talented. I um I think Lamb is a better sell, but they're they're
68:28honestly they're probably both both sells at cost. I just wouldn't be super desperate to sell just because they are so talented.
68:36>> Yeah. He's talking like guys like Aman Ross St. Brown. Yeah. If you can make something like that happen, that's easy.
68:40I will say too, the other bad thing about Bryce Young is he he should have lost the battle of Blackwater for being
68:46honest.
68:48>> Blackwater. What?
68:50>> I missed it. Sorry.
68:51>> It's a bit. Sorry. I I call him Tyrion Lannister. He should have lost the Battle of Blackwater.
68:55>> You nerd. Yeah, I don't watch Game of Thrones. I'm a fantasy football analyst.
68:59I I That's enough nerdy things for a lifetime.
69:01>> All right, we got another super chat to get to.
69:03>> All right, go ahead.
69:05>> Overcome with the third super chat of the show. This time up to $10. Try to win YouTube commenter of the
69:11>> I think so. I think so. L loaded with wide receivers. What running back would you target having Jefferson Nico London
69:18pick and >> these guys are just bragging about their teams. That's all they're doing. It's like here I'm going to send you $10.
69:24Just tell me my team is awesome. Your team is awesome. Congratulations.
69:28>> What?
69:28>> First of all, let let's >> It doesn't matter what running back you target. You have this killer squad of wide receivers.
69:34>> This has to be Dynasty, right? Like what what are we? Yeah, this has to be has to be Dynasty, >> dude. A David Montgomery I think is is
69:41great for a team with this like killer squad is the cheap veteran running back who's going to be super productive. I
69:47think he's going to be at worst a mid-range RB2. Probably a high-end RB2.
69:52>> So, who who on this list you trading for Montgomery though?
69:56>> Not trading those guys. Those are cornerstone assets. You you'd find something else to do. But >> um >> maybe maybe Jefferson. Like I don't want
70:04to trade unicorn assets ever. But maybe you could get a hall for Jefferson and get like >> get like a neighbors back.
70:12>> Oh, like a neighbors and a and a running back back.
70:14>> Yeah, >> that's not a bad idea >> because you wouldn't need neighbors to be great for you to start the season. So
70:20>> I like that.
70:21>> Hey, by the way, I'm doing dynasty rankings now. That's now Scott Barrett dynasty rankings. So if you check our site, subscribe to her site, check her
70:30dynasty. If you don't like them, let me know. Hit me up on Discord. Hit me up on Twitter. Um, but like that's how I'm I'm
70:37not as experienced with dynasty uh rankings. Although like I win all my leagues. I I just crush all my dynasty.
70:44Maybe that's because I have the best uh league partners in TJ Calins and Danny Kelly, but like dude, my my hit rate in
70:50Dynasty is crazy. But yeah, doing rankings and so I need your help. So let me know if I'm off on anyone. Um, and
70:56we're going to try and start doing some more Dynasty content uh with Graham Barfield over on the main channel.
71:03>> Awesome.
71:03>> Yeah.
71:04>> All right, let's keep the questions rolling. We can go back to the sheet here.
71:08Uh, D. Should I Q one or you want to queue one?
71:11>> You got it.
71:14>> All right. Oh, we didn't get your answer on this. Charles Merson asks, "Who is the highest projected pick with the
71:21scariest floor unrelated to injury?"
71:24This was my answer for this was CD Lamb.
71:26This is the beginning of the show. We never got your answer though. You just kind of commented on my answer. What is
71:29your answer here, Scott? Highest projected pick with the scariest floor unrelated to injury.
71:35>> Well, this this touches on a player we were just talking about. I feel like it has to be Jeff Justin Jefferson. And I
71:42know that sounds >> insane, but consider this. From week 10 until the end of the regular season, the an end of the fantasy season last year.
71:50So this is nine games, Justin Jefferson averaged 8.6 fantasy points per game.
71:56That was tied with Theoise. Was barely ahead of Chamir DK. Justin Jefferson.
72:02Exactly. One of the best wide receivers supposedly ever. And you're tied with Theoise. Who is that? What the heck?
72:09Like how is it possible that your floor is that low? Like C Lamb does not have a floor that low. Drake London, a gimpy
72:16Malik Neighbors does not have a floor that low with with Tommy Devito as his quarterback. And so like it is it makes
72:24me really think less of him that your floor can be that low. And so there's still a chance JJ McCarthy starting.
72:31Even if not, I don't see Kyler Murray as a material upgrade. I mean, he's an upgrade, but he's not like he's only had
72:37one wide receiver his entire career.
72:40Finished 24 at the position in total fantasy points. So, this isn't like some great like wide receivers's best friend quarterback either.
72:49>> You talking about Kyler?
72:51>> Yeah.
72:51>> Yeah. No, that like this is not >> He can't even see over his offensive lineman. So, how are you going to get
72:57>> this is not the upgrade I think people think it is. Now, listen, Sam Darnold tossed 40 touchdowns in the Kevin
73:02Oonnell system.
73:03>> Yeah.
73:04>> So, like we might see Kyler's best football. I'm also Scott, I'm not 100% convinced it's going to be Kyler the
73:11whole season.
73:12>> Yeah, exactly.
73:13>> And and even OTAAS, JJ was taking more first team reps than Kyler was.
73:17>> Yeah. And I I I heard some accounts say he was better. It's like, well, obviously Kyler's not scrambling, but in
73:23the pocket, McCarthy was better.
73:25>> Yeah. And he should be. He's got a better, more accurate arm than Kyler.
73:29So, >> well, this is I don't know if you want to talk about JJ McCarthy. is considered and actually this is one of our
73:33questions but this is this is one of your worst takes ever. This is the one you're just the people keep beating you over the head with it but
73:41you that was your QB1 that that year I believe you're way in on him and obviously it struggled. Uh and so it's
73:47hey is is he the next Sam Darnold or is it over? What did you get right? What did you get wrong? I know there was a
73:56small sample on him just because of how infrequently he he dropped back or are you still sticking to your guns? You
74:02think something's there? There's raw tools. What went right? What went wrong?
74:06Are you walking this back? Let the people know.
74:09>> No, I'm not walking it back at all.
74:11Like, you know, I look, he started nine games, guys. Nine games in his professional career. And when you evaluate the the sum total of those nine
74:20games, the the wins, the losses, the good points, the bad points, [snorts] it was not any worse than Caleb Williams first nine games, who's been crowned
74:29as the the next Patrick Mahomes.
74:30>> Dude, we got to we got to start taking it easy on Bears fans. They're they're just they're never tuning into our
74:35shows, but yeah, >> I've tried. I've tried. I I haven't said a bad thing about Bears fans all week, so we're we're making progress.
74:40>> We have to really make an effort. Hey, we love Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson's. We love Co. Dude, Coloulston Lovelin's super talented. He's just expensive in
74:48fantasy, but he's he's amazing.
74:50>> Luther Burton's gonna go nuts this year.
74:52But yeah, sorry. Go ahead.
74:53>> No. Yeah. So, you take into account the fact that his unicorn wide receiver, Justin Jefferson, looked completely checked out. You take into account that
75:01the offensive line was literally beat to death. They were missing both offensive tackles. Their first round pick at guard. The their center was a disaster.
75:09like there was a lot going wrong for JJ just outside of his control. The one thing I didn't account for was that JJ
75:17seems to have some maturity issues. And in fact, when one of the reasons I I loved him so much was that intangible
75:23score in my model where it's like everyone I know that knew him spoke glowingly of the man, the maturity. Jim Harbaugh, it's one of the things he
75:32always talked about the leadership, the preparation. It's like we had JJ McCarthy not being like this mature leader type was not on my bingo card. I
75:41did not think that was in the range of outcomes. And I think that's really where he's struggling cuz the play on
75:46the field you you can objectively watch those nine starts and compare them to Drake May's first nine starts. Compare them to Tyler Shuck's first nine starts,
75:54Jackson Dart's first nine starts, Caleb Williams first nine starts. It's not even close to as bad as some of those guys. Was it bad? Sure. But every rookie
76:02quarterback stinks. It's just the truth.
76:05And so I'm not out on JJ. And I think the Vikings are doing the smart right thing. They they couldn't roll into the
76:10season with handing him the job. They brought in an established veteran on a minimum contract, by the way, to compete with him. And if he loses, you know, for
76:19the entire season, that's going to be a little scary for for my take, right? But I do think eventually JJ wins out. I
76:25think he'll he'll develop as a You know what's another thing that's weird? He got put in the doghouse for missing a
76:31practice for the birth of his son.
76:34That's so weird.
76:35>> Yeah. Like like they were mad at him about that. I'm like, "Well, what do you expect?" You know, that was super weird.
76:40So, >> um, yeah, I'm I'm I'm still in on JJ.
76:44>> Can Can you talk about this though? It's just like, yeah, Gino Smith totally wrote off his dead and, uh, you know,
76:52not a top 10 quarterback like people told us last year, but you know, he's still starting in the league. Sam Darnold just won the freaking Super
76:59Bowl. Dude, Trevor Lawrence kind of sucked for five years and then like last year in the second half was amazing. Um,
77:06>> does Trevor Lawrence mega sucked?
77:08>> Yeah. So, does Zach Wilson have a chance? You know, does JJ McCarthy have a chance? What What's going on there?
77:14>> Oh, this is such a good point from Trey.
77:15I'll get to your point, Scott, but very clearly a coach GM rift that he was in the middle of, dude. 100%. And what we
77:22found out this offseason was that Brian Flores and Kevin Okonnell were basically responsible for personnel and the GM did not like that and there was a rift
77:31there. That's also in the mix. Like we don't we don't necessarily know exactly, you know, all of those conversations and and the impact that had on the
77:38organization as a whole. So that's definitely a factor we need to consider.
77:42But yeah, I we are in the era of rehabilitating quarterbacks.
77:46Quarterbacks are just coming to the league not ready to play football. And we're going to see it this next season.
77:50Trey or Motion Man and I do our draft show and we're talking, we just talked QBs. So many of the top guys that are
77:56projected to go top five, top 10, they don't have NFL ready skill sets. And there's not a a strong chance they put
78:03it on tape this year either. All everything you see at the college game is attacking weaknesses outside the numbers from the wide, you know, using
78:10the wide hashes to their advantage. It's all vertical passing downfield and uh and they're just not coming to the league ready to run an NFL offense.
78:19They're not coming to the league ready to play in rhythm and in structure and and just run the offense the way it's
78:24supposed to be run. So I Yeah, I think that's part of it. So guys, they get to the NFL, the expectations in the league
78:30are to win right away. GMs and coaches have never had a shorter leash than they do now. And if the quarterback
78:35struggles, we're moving on really fast.
78:37And you are like Baker Mayfield's another one, Scott. Like completely cast off.
78:41>> Literally in one season played for three different teams and then now he's a he's a top 10 quarterback in the league. So
78:47>> I M. Jones is probably going to be the next one. I think once he plays out his contract here in San Fran, he's going to
78:53go be a starter somewhere and probably be pretty good. Daniel Jones is another one. Literally was cut.
78:58>> Went to the Colts last year and had them. They're one of the best teams in the league until he got hurt and then
79:02they lost their final >> seven in football. They were tops in EPA per play and then he fractured his fibula.
79:08>> Um, dude. Yeah, exactly. And like more and more it's like play callers deserve way more credit. Um, supporting cast really matters for quarterback. Um,
79:18>> really matters. And the teams drafting these guys, the top of the draft, they suck. They're they're picking there for a reason, you know?
79:24>> So, they're they're landing in situ. And that's not necessarily true for JJ. I think he landed in probably the best
79:29situation among that class. But >> bro, if I if I were a GM, I would draft a quarterback every single year and I
79:37would take flyers on all these, you know, uh, retreats, you know, castaways, see if there's something there. Uh, because time and time again, it does
79:47seem like, yeah, all it takes is a change of scenery for some of these guys. Uh, I want to hit the super chat,
79:52but then I want to come back to Trevor Lawrence. It's from 33 Owls.
79:56>> Is that a Is that a Hogwarts reference?
79:59might be all right. 14 team PPR keeper auction league with $157 budget. So this means I can't help you because I I have
80:07no frame of reference for a 157 budget league. Keep one. Gibbs 57, Achan 30, Ibuka 23 or none. We can start a lot of
80:18players. Two wide receiver, two running back, two flex, one tight end. So depth can overcome studs. Um yeah, and it's a
80:26and it's a four H hold on. And it's a 14 teamer where depth matters a little bit more than you would think for a 12
80:33teamer. Um, you think it's Gibbs.
80:35>> So does having a unicorn, right? Having a unicorn in a 14 team is better more valuable than a 12.
80:41>> Uh, not really. I It's It's better in a 12 and it's even better in a 10. It's even better in an eight. And depth
80:48matters in the opposite way. Um, so I just pulled it up for a $200 12T teamer.
80:53Uh, Gibbs goes for 60 and he's saying keep Fib Gibbs at 57. Achan goes for for 40. Han right here 30. So you you save
81:03$10 with Achan uh versus three with Gibbs. My lean would, if I didn't look this up, my lean would have been Gibbs
81:12because like you said, like he could break leagues this year. And I think it still is. Um, but when you have a 14
81:17teamer with an unorthodox budget, I think there's more nuance there. I think it it gets a little bit tricky where like I I don't really have a great
81:23answer for you. Um probably gives but but could see Han. You're going to have to do some mock drafts or you know um
81:31really just project out what you think those two players go for.
81:35>> Also, by the way, I'm I'm more bullish on Han or projections are more bullish on Han than uh I know Ryan Heath is and
81:41and Graham Barfield is.
81:44>> I like Han, too.
81:45>> Nice.
81:46>> The uh So, I'm I'm This is School of Scott and I'm out here learning. I I'd like some more context though if 33
81:52hours is still listening. Like why is the budget 157? Does that mean that that implies you kept somebody? I've never like that's such a random number. Did
81:59you did you already keep somebody and that's why your budget is dwindled or or what's going on there? So if you're
82:04still listening, little added context would be nice. Thank you for the super chat though, dude.
82:08>> Yeah. Uh so I want to bring it back to to Trevor Lur. So I'm as everyone knows that everyone's anxiously awaiting for
82:14the Exodia quarterback and I'm I'm still trying. I think I have who it is. But um I have to ask myself these questions.
82:21I'm Jackson Dart. I'm like, is he Matt Ngi proof? Is anyone [snorts] Matt Ngypi proof? I was looking at Justin Herbert
82:28and Trevor Lawrence and I was trying to see like who actually do I think is the better runner? And I was I was
82:34meditating on this. I was thinking about this. I was like, who is the better runner? I like I I should really talk to
82:42Brett about it. I should really watch some tape on it. like how difficult is it to find a highlight reel of all of uh
82:50uh Trevor Lawrence's runs? And so like I know we joke that I don't like watching film. Like it's like a torture for me. I
82:56just I just want to live in my spreadsheets and and watching film is is torture, but it's it's kind of funny how
83:02it's a little true. Uh Jacob Gibbs tweeted out the exact time I was thinking about it. Trevor Lawrence uh on every scramble run last year and I
83:12didn't click it. I like exited out and I'm like, "Wait, what am I doing?" It's exactly what I wanted. And so I watched
83:17it and uh but like I I think I still think you're better equipped to answer that question. Um but like the the more
83:24pressing so so one, who's the better runner in your eyes? Justin Herbert, insanely athletic. People lose sight of how he's basically Josh Allen or he's
83:33basically Devin Singleary but like seven inches tall. Dude, yeah, dude. Look at Yeah, dude. Dude, dude, there's the tweet. Maybe Trey can pull it up, but
83:43it's they're the exact same combine except Justin Herbert is 9 in taller and like 80 pounds heavier. And Sigletary is like not athletic, but that's really
83:54saying Justin Herbert is crazy athletic.
83:57Um, and then the the second question, I'll try and pull it up. The second question is like we were big Trevor
84:03haters and then he looked incredible in the second half last year. Is that real?
84:08Did he really look much improved? Was that just Liam Cohen? Was it just bad defenses? What happened in in your mind?
84:17>> Yeah, I think he improved. My biggest criticism on Trevor was that he he plays everything way too fast and he goes from
84:23one to two to three and then usually takes the first read when it's all said and done. Doesn't give the the routes a
84:30time to develop. Uh kind of makes too many leaps with his assessment of coverages was always his MO. and he slowed down the processing last year and
84:39you saw like if you go to the fantasy points data suite check out his throws within rhythm later in the year on that
84:47streak he was on he was dynamic I mean you some of the best football he's ever played and I that matches the eye test
84:53when you turn on the tape the data matches the eye so I thought he was much more diligent and actually working the
84:58progressions actually processing out the de processing out the defense and really it came down to him finding a rhythm with that wide receiver core And that
85:07was with kind of a bum BTJ, too. But Jacobe Meyers really helped him stay on schedule. And then the the development
85:13and and kind of explosion of Parker Washington really kind of elevated that as well. By the way, I think Brenton Strange is one of the most underrated
85:19tight ends in the league.
85:20>> Yeah, I'm actually with you.
85:22>> Yeah. Case in point, >> it seems like Liam Cohen agrees with that. Like he hypes him up even more than anyone else.
85:27>> They gave him an absurd contract considering he's got less than a thousand career receiving yards, 16 million a year. I mean, pretty awesome.
85:34So, I think the collection of parts there now with Liam Cohen calling the plays, the the pass catchers they have, I think Trevor is for here to stay. And
85:42he's definitely a better runner than than Justin Herbert. He's way more assertive in the way he does it. I think Herbert's scared of getting hurt.
85:48>> Yeah.
85:48>> Um Herbert is classic if boy. If this if that.
85:51>> Oh man. If it's like I actually made an AI meme of of Justin Herbert in a cape and it says if
85:59>> you were the one who did that because I've seen that everywhere. Wow.
86:02>> The meme king. Brett Wakefield. Hey, check it out on screen here. I listen, I'm not crazy.
86:08>> Player A versus player B. It's they're the exact same or Herbert's a little bit better everywhere. Um, and Devin Singleary is 5 foot7, 203 pounds. Uh,
86:18Justin Herbert was 66, 236. So, yeah, alltime freak athlete. You could also do this versus Josh Allen and they're basically the same. Um, so people lose
86:26sight of that, but I'm with you. I That's what I saw. I I think I think Trevor Lawrence is the better runner. I
86:31don't think he gets enough credit for that. He ranks third in rushing touchdowns over the last three or four years with like three times as many as
86:39Lamar Jackson. So, um I don't think that Konami code upsides baked in. Um and yeah, he did look he did look I I
86:47thought much much improved. The rare six-year breakout uh really happened.
86:52>> It's tie it back to the conversation we just had about quarterbacks though. He came from an offense at Clemson that was
86:58not a pro style offense. He lived outside the numbers. deep passing, you know, really not used to throwing into tight windows and so he just didn't get
87:07moved off of, but he's he falls in line, too, man. Struggled early on and then has the six-year breakout. It's the same
87:13story we just talked about, except those other guys, their teams kind of pushed him off to the side. Scott, we did get
87:18some uh context from 33 Owls who had the $10 super chat earlier. So, the 157 budget is actually legit, but he's also
87:26keeping two players, Rice for 15 and Lovelin for 10. I think with that context, I'm a 100 percent yes on Gibbs.
87:32>> Okay.
87:33>> It's the same theory as uh trading up for the 101 and 102 so you can get Gibbs and Bejon. It's like
87:38>> I mean if I if I if I ju just said 45 minutes ago that Gibbs is breaking snake style drafts and you have to move to
87:47auction. Yeah. And you're in an auction.
87:50Yeah, definitely go out and get that guy.
87:54>> Sweet. Should we do some more questions?
87:56>> Sure.
87:57>> Here we do a couple more.
87:59I'm looking for our I think we hit all Oh, you asked me a question, Scott, that we can get to.
88:05>> What's that?
88:06>> Wh Why do I hate Bucky Irving?
88:08>> Oh, yeah. That's a good one. Why Why do you hate Bucky?
88:12>> Hate is a strong word. I don't use that word hate. I >> That's it. I've heard this before.
88:19Hate hate hate.
88:21>> Uh Bucky is here's the thing. I didn't love him as a prospect. Had a day three grade on him. He went day three, by the
88:27way. had a really good rookie season statistically. Even some of the advanced metrics, they're capable of lying to you, right? You see the adjusted yards
88:36after contact per carry. You see the force miss tackle rate, but then when you turn on the tape, it just doesn't
88:43match. And I I've you've heard me say this a bunch, Scott. It's not something that's like easily quantifiable, but I always say not every four miss tackle is
88:50created equal. And that was true for Bucky where he had one of the best performing offensive lines in 2024. And in fact, if you look at like all of the
89:01top, you know, offensive lines in yards before contact per carry, that's that's mostly an O line stat. Some somewhat of a running back stat, too, because the
89:09vision is important. But all of the leaders at the top of that board were teams that either the the Lions who had
89:17a great offensive line or teams that had a scrambling quarterback cuz scrambling quarterbacks create space for everyone else on the offense. Tampa Bay was the
89:25only other team that was way up there.
89:26That offensive line dominated that year.
89:28And when you put on the tape, you see Bucky like he had 27 uh runs that year, 10 plus yards or more. And his explosive
89:36run rate was extraordinarily high. his yards from explosive runs was like 50% that year. And a lot of it was literally
89:43it's just Bucky running through a hole >> and falling and getting tackled and falling down or or maybe he gets glanced
89:49as he runs through a hole and he you know it was enough contact to rack up the yards after contact.
89:54>> But ultimately he just wasn't really doing anything special. And it's a lot easier to make guys miss 15 yards down
90:01the field than it is in the hole. And that's kind of the big thing for me is like when I when I look at force miss
90:07tackle stats, I want to know the location that these guys are forcing miss tackles. It's way more valuable to make a guy miss at the line of scrimmage
90:14than it is 15 yards down the field and way harder to do as well. So that that's kind of my take on Bucky. I think he's
90:20fine. I think he he's mostly proven me wrong and that I think he's a better pro than I thought he would be, but I do
90:25think he's in risk of getting Kenneth Gainwell. And I think Gainwell is a better overall player than him.
90:31definitely a better receiver than him, but but probably uh as good of a runner as well.
90:35>> Well, these are two two my guys I I was way in on Kenny Gainwell when he was coming out. And then uh Bucky Irving I
90:43was much higher on than you. Like just based on the analytics profile, um he looked really special. Like this the stat I had was something like over
90:51fiveear span only Bejon had more career miss tackles force per touch and yards after contact per attempt. He looked great by the advanced metrics and then
91:01he had the combine so he was like a subf percentile athlete and he's also really small and so I ended up walking back
91:09everything I said also leaning on your film grade and being kind of out on him >> and I'm like I just don't think he's
91:16going to get the volume and then he had that insane rookie season with the hyper efficiency and then he's the bellcow in
91:21the second half but what are you hearing this off seasonason is uh yeah he's it's a committee it's he's not going to be
91:27the guy and maybe in part because of all the injuries he dealt with last year in his small frame. Um, so I don't think
91:33I'm a Bucky guy. I get the upside argument, but I'm with you. I I I kind of worry about that touch competition in
91:40that back field.
91:41>> Yeah. And astute commenter points out this all ties back to Liam Cohen as well, where we were just talking about
91:47how good Liam is. It it it's true.
91:49>> The thing with Bucky, too, 195 pounds and he's a bad athlete. How many running backs in the league at that size can get
91:56away with being a bad athlete?
91:57Typically, if you're going to be 195 pounds, you have to be an extraordinary athlete. You have to be Jir Gibbs or
92:03Jamal Charles or CJ Spiller. Spiller is a little thicker than that, but you get the point. Like, if you're going to be a
92:10smaller, undersized back traditionally, you have to be very gifted physically.
92:15And Bucky just isn't. He's more Devin Singleary than he is any of those other guys.
92:20>> Yeah. Um, so >> I got I got one more question from you.
92:24>> Well, we got a super chat we got to hit.
92:27>> Overcome. Is this the fourth? Is this the fourth super chat? One day. This this dude.
92:31>> Awesome. Dynasty. Uh, Devin Achan and AJ Brown for Chase Browns and Chase Brown and Pickins. I think we he wants us to
92:41pick a side here. Um, >> I think I'd go Han side. Uh, I'm really high on Han. This is this is one Ryan
92:48Heath has really fought me on where I I did the first pass of my rankings. I'm like, "Hey, Ryan, you got to take a look
92:54at this. Let me know what you don't like." And I I think every single one I moved them up at least one spot except
93:00for Han. I'm like, "No, I'm dying on this hill." Han [clears throat] is special, man. He He not only leads the
93:06league in yards per carry since he came into the league, but he's like orders of magnitude better than Jonathan Taylor and Saquon Barkley. And then it's also a
93:14guy who's had what a 100 plus targets in back-to-back seasons, even if things are really rough this year with Malik Willis. Um I I just see him as being
93:23really special. Um and you know, the AJ Brown to Pickkins upgrade is real, but I don't want to part ways with Han
93:32personally.
93:33>> I I think I'm with you here. And my take on >> I didn't expect that. I didn't I didn't expect that.
93:38>> Yeah. My take on Achan is like I remember early >> AJ Brown is what 32 years old with two degenerative arthritic knees.
93:46>> He's not 32.
93:47>> No, you're right. He's 29.
93:49>> Yeah, >> 29 with But like factor in the knees and he's like 36.
93:54>> I guess I guess there is some like >> this is a tricky one. I'll be >> short shortterm Achan and AJB. Longterm
94:00maybe Brown and Pickins. My take on Achan though >> depends on how how win now you will >> for sure. But I really do think in the
94:07range of outcomes for Achan is like early career Christian McCaffrey in Carolina. They had nobody. Yeah, >> they literally he was the offense mobile
94:14quarterback which mobile >> and I know I know people are citing that Malik Willis doesn't throw to running backs but you got to contextualize that
94:22with the fact he had Josh Jacobs as his running back and it's a small sample.
94:26It's a super small sample and I think there there will be considering the pass catchers they have in that room there's
94:32going to be an concerted effort to throw the ball to Han. We know he's great at it. He's their best weapon across the
94:38board. They have They're going to throw to Han. I'm not worried about the the target rate for him at all, Scott. Um
94:45volume.
94:46>> Not at all. Not at all, Brett.
94:47>> I'm really not.
94:48>> Dude, I'm dying on this hill. Achan is such a target for me. And Chris is with me. When Chris is with me, I feel so But
94:55to have Chris and Brett for different reasons, I Yeah, [snorts] we're we're team Achan. Yeah, >> even if things are rough this year from
95:02a dynasty perspective, he's a guy I want to double, triple down on.
95:06>> And let's not forget the investment they made in the O line.
95:10>> Like that O line could be very good.
95:12>> Very good. Yeah, that's not baked in either. Um, hey, I like I said, I had one last question for you.
95:18>> Yeah.
95:19>> Talk to me about these old ass wide receivers. Talk to me about a 33year-old Mike Evans, 34y old Devonte Adams. And I
95:27said old ass wide receivers for a reason. Yeah, >> they led the league in ass last year. It was it was it was Devonte Adams number
95:34one. It was Mike Evans number two. But here's the interesting thing. If you look at yards after the catch per reception, if you look at all yards
95:42after the catch per reception seasons over the last five years, minimum 25 catches, Devonte Adams had the second worst season. Mike Evans had the sixth
95:53worst season of any of those wide receiver seasons. And so I think it's clear that there's some falloff
96:02in athleticism and whatnot, but it's not showing up in separation because these are two Keenan Allen was another one last year, old ass wide receiver. Uh the
96:14I think these route running technicians can age more gracefully in at least in terms of the ability to get open and
96:21separate which means you're going to get catches you're just not going to get much yak on it or you're going to get
96:25touchdowns like Devonte Adams his separation win rate inside the red zone was like 2x anyone else. Uh and I think that's sticky and uh so yeah like I'm
96:35looking at the price tag on both these guys. They are crazy cheap to me where it's like, yeah, it's it's priced in the
96:42hamstring risk. It's priced in that they could just fall off a cliff, but I don't think they will. So, talk to me about
96:48these old ass wide receivers. Where you at? And what did you see on tape?
96:54>> And and shout out Jordan PB93. 33 is the new 25. That might that might be the thing in the age of peptides you see in
97:02the UFC is all these like 36 37 year old champions. So, so Brett, sorry. Go ahead.
97:07>> No, you're good. So, both I'm in on both of them. Let's just say that. So, starting with Evans, like his price
97:14right now, what is it? His ADP is like 45 I think in in in underdog. I think it's like 60 in FFPC. So, like 65 even
97:22maybe in FFPC. I think at that cost, dude, it's incredibly cheap to get access to a guy there. Actually, I said
97:29this on Wednesday, Wednesday's show.
97:31There might not be a bigger discrepancy in ADP and potential result than Mike Evans right now.
97:36>> Like, you're drafting him at the like 45 range and you could get a top six fantasy wide receiver this year,
97:43>> guys. He plays for Kyle Shanahan. Yeah.
97:45With one of the best quarterbacks in the one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the league in Brock Perie.
97:49>> Hey, what happened the last time Kyle Shanahan had a wide receiver of Mike Evans talent?
97:55>> Brandon Aayuk. He went for 1300 yards and 10 touches.
97:57>> No, no. more talented than Brandon.
97:59Julio, >> Julio Jones had the third most receiving yards in NFL history. I think this is so real. Like, you know, Ryan and I are
98:06always talking about play caller cheat codes, Liam Cohen slot, Ben Johnson slot. The original was Kyle Shanahan, wide receiver one, dude. Uh, and I
98:16really think that's born to light. Like Brandon Iayuk was incredible. I don't think he was actually that talent. I think a lot of that is Kyle Shanahan.
98:23Debo Samuel not a good separator. still, you know, finished behind only Cooper Cup and fantasy points per game one season. Why? I think a lot of that is
98:30Kyle Shanahan. And uh this is still one that's that's tricky and nuanced, but Ryan Heath, I think, put it perfectly is
98:37like no matter what happens with Mike Evans, it's going to be so posthindsight obvious where it's like, oh, of course he caught 25 touchdowns for Kyle
98:46Shanahan and the the 49ers had the best offense in football. Or it's, oh, of course his hamstring fell off the bone
98:55like Texas barbecue because he's 33 years old with hamstring injuries every year and he practices next to a 5G EMF
99:04Chernobyl electrical substation. And yeah, it's it's going to be one of those things, but um well, here's the question. Go ahead, sir. Well, it's it's
99:15baked into the ADP, though, like you said, 45 Scott, for a guy that I truly think could finish top six in fantasy
99:21points scored at wide receiver.
99:22>> Exactly.
99:22>> It's And what I've learned from you is upside over everything.
99:26>> That's right.
99:26>> So, if I'm in the fourth round and I've already got two running backs and a and a stud wide receiver, Yeah. I'm I'm
99:31drafting Mike Evans. Like, it's it's an auto click for me basically. And >> and and so this is a big takeaway lesson
99:37learned from last year. I do this every year where I I I self flagagillate. I beat I rub my nose in my own mistakes
99:45and I I'm literally depressed for like 3 weeks and just like hate myself and filled with self-loathing. But I come out of that renewed as okay, I have a
99:54lesson learned here. And so historically for fantasy point subscribers, like if you read my draft guide, you should make like 50 60% of your championships, but
100:04like 80% of the time still you're going to have an 0 and4 team. It kind of happens every year where like you you
100:11follow my draft guide, you start off slow, but this year I want to be different. This year I want to have a
100:16much higher time preference. And I think I think Devonte Adams, Mike Evans, where it's like, yes, they have age related concerns. Yes, they have injury risk
100:26concerns, but the good news is like they're healthiest at the start of the season, and you know, even if a decline
100:32happens, even if injuries occur, it's probably going to be mid-season. So, you could just draft them at this insane value and then trade them at a profit in
100:41week four, week five, week six, because people lose sight of that in season. So, that's another added benefit. But, let's not sleep on Devonte Adams last year.
100:50Like I said, he was the ass guy god last year. But all receivers in ass and separation win rate inside the red zone
100:56he was orders of magnitude better than anyone else. Uh my stat for you is in games he played on at least half of the
101:05team snaps. Just half of the team snaps.
101:08He averaged 19.2 XFP per game, 17.1 fantasy points per game. So you're talking about wide receiver six upside for Mike Evans. Devonte Adams is already
101:18there when he was healthy last year. And uh hey listen, touchdowns are a skill.
101:23Touchdowns are massively important. And that's another one of my heading into 2026, you know, lessons learned is touchdowns matter more than ever. Like
101:31this year, more than any other season, we need to be touchdown hunting. Why is that? It's because each of the last four
101:37years the NFL moves, you know, starting field position off of a uh a touchback and now we're at the 35 yard line and
101:45with the K ball kickers are kicking 65 yard. we're going to see 70 yard field goals. And so what does that do? It just
101:52shortens the field, which means yards are are tougher to come by. And when that's the case, it just it just makes
102:00touchdowns even more valuable, which it's more volatile. They're tougher to predict. But it's probably not tougher to predict when you're Mike Evans or
102:07Dvonte Adams. And so, uh, who would you take of these two? How close is it? Did you find those arguments persuasive?
102:15>> For sure. I mean, you stole the Adams argument for that. The touchdown upside was my argument as well. Especially when
102:20you consider the heavy 13 personnel stuff. Like Adams was their preferred like ISO wide receiver in 13 personnel last year until he got hurt and then
102:29they put Puka on the field. That's something that kind of gets lost in the I guess in the the madness of all the
102:35information we have. But like Devonte Adams was playing over Puka Nua in these situations. So >> this I know >> if that returns if that's the same this
102:45year then yeah I'm all in on Adams for sure. I still like Evans at a little bit better at ADP just because I think you
102:51you're getting that top six upside with him where Adams is probably like you're happy if you get him to like top 15
102:57range you know.
102:58>> Yeah. I I was talking to Ryan Pagnetti uh the other day which is so so cool.
103:04That's what a life I live again. I'm not a good X's and O's guys, but I have great friends, Danny Kelly, another one,
103:11you I talk to you constantly, so you guys always make me look smart. But we I think we solved the 13 personnel thing.
103:17Remember we were talking about this and this is a concern I had.
103:20>> Um he said >> Ryan tipped me off to like check it inside the red zone and outside the red zone. And that's really what happened is
103:27inside the red zone it was always Adam and the 13 personnel and outside the red zone it was much more Puka. And so it's
103:34but yeah, that's what makes sense is like inside the red zone, you need a guy who can separate immediately. Devonte Adams the best red zone separator in the
103:42league by a landslide, one of the best touchdown scorers. But yeah, outside the red zone, Puka's, you know, blocking matters more and other just general like
103:52better receiver. Um, Yak matters more, etc. So, I think we solved that.
103:58>> Yeah. And how much 13 personnel is getting played in the middle of the field anyways? That's definitely more of a red zone personnel group, right? I
104:04mean, yeah, between the or uh inside the 20s on both sides, but >> yeah, I I do think we solved that. All
104:12right, I we should probably get out of here. You think >> I had one more? It was It was just shown
104:17up on the screen and I wanted to >> I was like, "Oh, I definitely need to ask it." But >> for uh for those of you that don't know,
104:24all of these questions you're seeing on the screen, these are from our subscribers and they're in our private Discord as a as a company. When you
104:30subscribe, when you become a subscriber, you get access to our Discord. It's uh one of the best play. You can literally
104:35just pick Scott and I's brain whenever you want or any of our other anos Graham and and Thomas and and all pretty much
104:42everyone we have. John Hansen, so Joe Dolan, Tom Broly, >> I remember the the comment Ricky Pawol top five and ass last year. That so like
104:51that's one of those things where you look at it you look at it and it's like okay this makes sense. He's a stud. He's
104:56a stud. You're like Ricky Pearl top five. What? What?
105:00>> Can you explain what's going on there?
105:02>> Not surprising to me. He stinks.
105:04>> I had a first round grade. He doesn't stink. He's hurt. He got shot in the chest and has had a slew of terrible
105:09luck since then. So, um, >> yeah, he's he's a phenomenal route runner. That's why I had a first round grade in him. Just like elite route
105:16runner. So, but >> chat chat is unhinged today. I love it.
105:22They're just all the all the puns are out in full force.
105:24>> All right. You You want to ask Dro's uh question and then we can get out of here. Um, do you what do you make of
105:31this this new heavy personnel, the influx of 12 and 13? Is that going to be super popular? Like based on what teams
105:40are doing in the draft and free agency, like overdrafting, blocking tight ends, like really seems like they're going to try and do that, but looking into the
105:47data, it was really like only a thing that like the Seahawks, Bills, and Rams did effectively. Other teams tried it out and couldn't do it. And according to
105:55Greg Olsen, it was really just defenses being stupid. like matching heavy with base personnel.
106:00>> Cardinals did a lot too doing that.
106:02>> Cardinal did a lot. They did that.
106:03>> Cardinals. So yeah, shout out. Um so yeah, what do you make of this? Let's hear your thoughts.
106:08>> Yeah, as long as it's it's a mismatch opportunity for the defense, they're going to keep doing it or for the
106:12offense rather. Sorry. Because what you've seen is like you have stubborn teams like the Chiefs and the Lions who have matched with base personnel, right?
106:21Then you have teams go the other way and they match it with nickel. So it really there's the counter punch is changing
106:29your personnel from a prototype standpoint, right? So over the since we've gone to this too high era, teams want speedier safeties that can come
106:38down and play in the nickel. They can play over a tight end. They can tackle, but they're they're mostly fast ball
106:44winner guys.
106:46>> You're gonna have to see a change, right? Because if you want to play base against a 12 or 13 personnel look, you
106:52need a safety that's basically a linebacker that can function as a linebacker but has the athleticism to play in space and to go run and chase
106:59guys down to match or or play man coverage. And you saw the Seahawks do it with Nick Amani last year where he was
107:06basically a nickel that was a linebacker. He's 220 lbs plus. So that's the counter punch for defenses. The problem is is there's just not a lot of
107:14guys with the movement skills like Nick Aman warrior just like growing on trees, right? You're going to have to ch like
107:21the college game is going to have to adapt for the pro game to adapt which is typically how things become cyclical. So
107:27you'll see more college teams using players like Nick Amani in the slot and airgo that will give the the league opportunities to use those players. Uh
107:37but until then and for now, as long as 12 and 13 personnel is still an efficiency hack in this mismatch opportunity game, they're going to keep
107:46playing it. The the thing about it is like if you if you see a defense match in base, you throw on them. If you see
107:53them match and nickel, you run on them.
107:55So there's all the offense always has options. That's why it's so important.
107:59It's why it's been so effective is because it's the offense dictating terms, right? You're forcing the defense to be reactionary. And the second the
108:06defense becomes reactionary, they're behind the ball, >> like literally and figuratively. But >> um yeah, so that that's I think it's
108:14probably here to stay. So >> yeah, and it's and it's like a wrinkle that's really annoyed me because like I'm so high on Parker Washington. I
108:21really like Luther Burden, but it's like what if they're not on the field in 13 personnel? You know what? They're probably not. What if they're not on the
108:28field in in 12 or 21 personnel? That really just like tanks their value. And that's something we don't control for.
108:34we don't really know. Uh I think it makes the most sense to get those guys in that role, but you you never really
108:39know. That's that's out of our control.
108:42Um you know, maybe even out of our predictive abilities. So yeah, it's just and like you said, you were talking about the you everyone going to too high
108:50Vicio defense. I wanted to I wanted to quickly touch on that too. That really is the case. And I think when that's the
108:56case, why certain wide receivers gain value in fantasy as opposed to others?
109:03And I think what really gains value is like the the shifty yak guys who are really good in the short to intermediate
109:09level um especially relative to these deep threats. So it's like yeah Trey McBride gets an advantage over a Marvin Harrison Jr. Parker Washington gets an
109:20advantage over Brian Thomas Jr. Do you think that's right?
109:24>> Yeah, of course it is >> because they're selling out to stop the big plays, the deep ball. Yeah, interior inter interior plays become more
109:31valuable because literally what does two high coverage shells equal? Middle of field open, right? Single high equals middle of field closed. Middle of the
109:40field open means there's there's windows to exploit. So guys like Parker Walsh, Trey McBride, you know, any of your your slot types that are dynamic route
109:49runners, they're they're going to eat over the middle of the field.
109:54>> Okay, >> cool. Should that conclude today's show?
109:58Um, sure, sure, Ken. I hate >> Go ahead. Go.
110:01>> No, you go ahead, Scott.
110:02>> I was just gonna say thanks to everyone for hanging out with us. This is an absolute blast. Uh, shout out to
110:08everyone in the comments. Shout out to Nick Johnson to overcome 70* 7. Uh, shout out to 33 Owls. Shout out to
110:16everyone else. Really appreciate you uh joining us, making this fun. It was a party. Really liked talking to you, Brett. Really liked taking questions
110:24from from everyone in the comments. We should do this again sometime.
110:28>> Yeah, we and we will. For those that don't know, like Brett, uh I almost said Brett and I.
110:32>> Brett and I.
110:34>> Gosh. Scott and I are going to be doing like school Scott live on Fridays as is a thing now. That's happening every
110:39week. This will be >> What do you mean? You didn't know that?
110:43Yeah. [laughter] >> Yeah. I'm just saying it again for emphasis. Okay. Every week.
110:46>> Yes. Yes. Scott and I will be your show every Friday. It doesn't mean it will always be a Q&A, but we're going to work
110:51in the Q&A, you know, kick the feet up on the desk and and chat. It's really important to me that this is like a
110:57collaborative show. Like Brett really wants guests. I've been kind of pushing back on it. I [laughter] want I want you to be the guest. I want [snorts] the
111:02YouTube commenters to be the guests. I want you guys and and Discord, you your questions get priority over everyone but the super chatters. So, um yeah, just
111:14thank you for hanging out and I hope you join us every Friday as part of the show or or listen after the fact.
111:19>> All right, I'm going to steal a line from Graham. Thanks for listening. We'll see you at the top of the leaderboards.
111:33>> [music]
