0:13Fantasy Football Daily is back. Good morning. I am Graham joined by Ryan Heath as I am every Monday morning. We have an awesome show lined up for you
0:22guys today talking buys and sells. We're going to be looking at 10 players. for either buying or selling here as the
0:28markets are starting to move before training camps. Ryan, I don't know about you, man, I am looking forward to having actual NFL news and having actual NFL
0:36things to talk about here in a few weeks. Uh, training camps are getting fired up at the end of this week.
0:40Rookies will start reporting and we are so back. Ryan, it's good to have you on.
0:48Hey, man. Yeah, I am so excited. I can really taste it. uh getting really close to getting Anatomy of a League winner
0:55out. Like once that's out, it's just like full speed ahead for me towards the season. Like yeah, I'm so excited and
1:01yeah, excited to talk about some buys and sells today.
1:04>> Yeah, Anatomy of League winners article, Ryan's article is is always a masterpiece. I'd imagine in a couple weeks we'll have all of our flagship
1:13pieces out on fantasypoints.com.
1:15Make sure you never miss one of those from Ryan, myself, Scott Barrett, John Hansen, Joe Dolan. Joe actually just put out his auction strategy plan and has a
1:24video up on this very YouTube. After you're done listening to Ryan and I, go listen to Joe's auction strategy video.
1:31But Ryan and I are today are going to be talking buys and sells. We're going to start at the top here looking at some
1:38players were buying players either moving up and down in ADP. Ron, why don't you go and get us started here with your one of your top buys going
1:44into training camps here?
1:47>> Yeah. So, the first one I want to talk about is Jaylen Herz. Uh, just because he's one that I think the fantasy
1:55community has massively overthought this off season. Uh, stepping back, the kind of big thing with Herz is every single season except for last year, he's
2:06averaged over 21 and a half fantasy points per game, roughly the QB2. Uh, he has been a league winner by ESPN playoff
2:14rate every season other than last year, meaning that he's on playoff rosters in over 55% of ESPN leagues, every single season except last year. And then last
2:25year he finishes the QB7 by fantasy points per game, which is pretty much exactly where he's priced right now. So he's just kind of priced at his floor.
2:34Uh, of course the Eagles offense was a total disaster last year under Kevin Patulo, but now we have a new OC coming
2:42in, Shawn Manion, uh, from the Packers.
2:45he's going to run more of almost like a Shanahan or McVey style scheme. Uh where there's going to be a lot more under
2:53center, a lot more play action, a lot more throwing over the middle of the field. The conventional wisdom right now is kind of like that Jaylen Herz can't
3:02run that type of offense, I think, is what a lot of people have kind of decided, but there just isn't really
3:08great evidence for that. Uh over his career, Herz has been excellent whenever he has played from under center. He's not done it super often, but the splits
3:16are really great. They're on the screen here. Yeah. Uh nearly eight adjusted net yards per attempt would have been the QB2 by EPA per drop back, the QB1 by
3:26fantasy points per drop back just on all his under center drop backs over the past five seasons. Uh so that is one
3:34aspect in which I think he'll excel in this new offense. There's also throwing over the middle of the field. This is
3:41like the constant discourse with Jaylen Hartz. he can't throw over the middle of the field or he doesn't do it enough.
3:46I'm not really convinced by that when I look at the data. Uh over the past 5 years among 62 qualifying QBs, Herz
3:54ranks second in EPA per drop back when targeting the middle of the field.
3:58Second in adjusted net yards per attempt, uh nearly 10 of them, so even bigger than the number that was just on
4:05screen. Uh and it's not just a selection bias thing. It's not just that Herz only throws to the wideopen uh or busted
4:12coverage receivers over the middle. Uh only 44% of his attempts in that area have been uh to an open or a busted
4:22coverage. That's 15th of 56 qualifiers.
4:25That's less than Brock Party, Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, a lot of quarterbacks that have succeeded in these kind of Shanahan style offenses.
4:33So, I'm pretty high on the idea that Herz is just a more efficient passer than last year. The Eagles offense takes
4:40a step forward through the air. Uh, and also that he Yeah, he just comes back to doing what Jaylen Herz has always done,
4:49which is scoring a ton of rushing touchdowns. Uh, he was still leading the NFL in designed rush attempts per game last year. Yes, he doesn't scramble
4:58quite as often as he did maybe three years ago, but so much of the fantasy points are just going to come at the
5:03goal line when we're talking about these rushing quarterbacks. That's most of what we care about. And I think Herz can easily just finish as a top two
5:11quarterback once again this year and you're getting a massive discount on that from previous seasons.
5:16>> Yeah, it is a humongous discount. He's now a sixth round pick, seventh round pick. Jaylen Herz has been going consistently like that three four turn
5:24or into the fourth round like he was last season. I'm with you. I think in general quarterbacks are going a little
5:30bit further down the board this year.
5:31We've kind of got more of just like a big pocket big swath of quarterbacks going from 50 to 75 hertz going smack
5:38dab in the middle of that pocket. My only push back with your Herz enthusiasm is I do think taking the or you know the
5:44whole orbit of AJ Brown off the field and kind of what he provides both you know both as like you know just an alpha
5:51receiver but how he tilts coverage certainly could hurt some of the efficiency with Jaylen Herz but in general I think I'm just with you some
5:58of the my concerns are kind of negated by the fact that they did bring in a new play caller Ryan. Uh Eagles do have a
6:05pretty easy strength of schedule this year as well. This is a team that was, you know, coming off a Super Bowl win
6:10two years ago, had an extremely difficult schedule last year. It was always going to be really hard for them to kind of replicate what they did in
6:1724. This year, they have are like bottom 10 in strength of schedule. So, there should be uh ample touchdown opportunities within this offense. But I
6:24think the main thing that I keep coming back to with Eagles, man, is just getting Lane Johnson back fully healthy.
6:28That's like the key to this team is this is a, you know, top five offense, top three offense when Lane is on the field.
6:35It's more of like an average 14th, 15th, 16th best offense when he's not on the field. So, I'm I'm with you on Herz. I
6:42think in general, this is just a player that like probably should be going ahead of Caleb Williams consistently because we know what type of fantasy asset he
6:49has been and uh we know he has massive touchdown upside. Both of these players are going basically backtoback in ADP.
6:56Over at FFPC, they're basically deadlocked in ADP. Uh, Herz is going, I think, just a few spots behind Caleb Williams the last time I checked over on
7:05Underdog. And if you look across the the the board, you know, Sleeper, ESPN, Yahoo, uh, it's it's kind of similar.
7:11Herz is is pretty much like consistently the QB7 or QB8. And I'm not sure that should really be the case. He's, like
7:17you said, always had a really really high floor run because of the rushing touchdowns.
7:22>> Yeah, absolutely. I I think you've basically covered it. I have very little else to say other than Yeah, we're totally overthinking this. I think uh I
7:30I'm always like an advocate for late round quarterbacks just because the opportunity cost is much lower. Uh even with these hyper mobile guys that can
7:39score 20 22 fantasy points per game, often you can get 90% of that in the later rounds. But Jaylen Herz is like
7:46going to be an exception to that for me this year just because yeah, he goes later than kind of the big pockets of
7:53running backs and wide receivers that I want to draft in like round four for example. like I I think he's just in a
7:59really nice and comfortable place on a lot of these platforms that I don't feel like I am missing out that much by
8:06drafting him as kind of my earlier quarterback where I yeah I just have a really strong uh assurance that he's going to that average that elite fantasy
8:16quarterback uh type of fantasy points per game.
8:20>> Yeah, 75 overall over on FFPC. That is by far the cheapest I have seen Herz in, you know, number of years basically
8:27since he's took over as the starting starting quarterback. Uh Ryan, I think you and I have talked a little bit about
8:32Joe Burrow this year and how we're kind of fading him at this price. I think I just prefer Hertz straight up uh in
8:38terms of projection, raw projection, and in terms of price as well. Uh so I I like this buy quite a bit. Ryan, why
8:43don't you go ahead and give us another one here. I believe you're talking a Packers receiver that you and I both
8:49cannot stop drafting.
8:52Yeah, it's Christian Watson. Uh, anyone that doesn't know me or know my work, Christian Watson is just consistently one of my guys every single season. Uh,
9:02but I think this year is maybe the best he has ever been set up in his career.
9:08And that's because the Packers lose Romeo Dobs, they lose Dantavian Wixs.
9:13Uh, and we are hopefully going to be rid of this obnoxious wide receiver rotation that has been happening under Matt Laflur for years. Uh, we would just
9:25constantly be getting a 40% route share from Dantavian Wixs that would cause this rotation and have Christian Watson be under 60 or 70% of the routes every
9:35single game. Same thing with Jaden Reed.
9:37Uh, they would throw B Melton in there for a handful of routes. It just would make it so no Packer was actually
9:43playing a full-time role. No P, aside from Romeo Dobs, who wasn't really efficient enough to take advantage of it to matter that much in fantasy. The
9:51efficient guys, Watson, uh, and Reed just weren't playing enough to be super fantasy relevant. Uh, but I think that changes this year. Now, the Packers
10:01really only have Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Jaden Reed. Uh, that's like a pretty logical 11 personnel, three receiver set. What we saw last
10:11year from Watson is that he was the one on the field in two receiver sets uh much more than Matthew Golden or Jaden
10:20Reed uh 62% of the time for Christian Watson to Jaden Reed's one and a half%.
10:26So clearly Watson is like a very good bet to just lead this team in routes run this year. it seems like uh yeah, he's
10:33just going to be on the field the most.
10:35And whenever that's happened, he has been amazing for fantasy football. Uh he's eighth best in yards per out run from two or fewer receiver sets with
10:45over three yards per out run. Uh and across his 13 career games above a 75% route share, which is pretty typical,
10:53like normally what you would expect out of a starting wide receiver. uh in those 13 games that he's hit that route share.
11:00He averages 17 and a half fantasy points per game. That would have been the wide receiver six last year. Uh yeah,
11:07Christian Watson is is just really fun.
11:09He's of course a downfield threat. I think he's a little bit underrated kind of in the intermediate game as well. Uh
11:16that's where he's going to kind of have to take his game a little bit this year.
11:20uh without Romeo Dobs being there. I I think he can take over a lot of that the hor even the horizontally breaking
11:26routes uh which he's been extremely efficient on throughout his career. So, I'm just really excited for Christian Watson. I think he goes way too late. I
11:36think he's not that different of a bet than some wide receivers like a Terry McLaren, um a Jaylen Wadd, uh the these
11:45types of guys who I also like. Watson on most of these sites goes one to two full rounds later than kind of a lot of those
11:53wide receivers that people are excited about. So, he's going to be like a big circle is name draft target for me on
12:01basically every single home league site at the very least.
12:05>> Yeah, Watson, the the ADP has just not come up for his changing situation like you're saying. You know, wide receiver
12:1026, 27, 28 and 80p depending on where you're looking. I mean, he was the wide receiver 19 in fantasy last year coming
12:18back from the ACL injury and you mentioned how he is, you know, always been a pretty efficient route runner on horizontally breaking routes. Here at
12:25Fantasy Points data, we chart uh all the different types of route types and separate them out by average separation score in-house separation metric. And
12:34Christian Watson last season had a 96 percentile score on crossing routes.
12:38Ryan, to your point, he had an 88th percentile uh separation score on slant routes. So, it's he's not just a deep
12:45threat. This is a player who can clearly win after the catch on crossing patterns and and get separation on those plays. I
12:52I'm with you. I think any if we could get Watson even up to like an 80% route share, which isn't even like a full-time
12:58receiver. Some of the, you know, Bellcow receivers like Jamar Chase are playing 90 plus% of the snaps. If we can just
13:04get Watson up into like the 80s consistently, I think at the at the bare minimum, his usage is going to be one of
13:11like, you know, the top 15 or 16 best receivers in fantasy. And the entry point for Price again, I think it really
13:17is it's got to just be all injury related with Hit, Ryan, right? Like that's that's the main reason he's still going like wide receiver 27,
13:25>> I suppose. But yeah, at that point where he goes, I almost don't care. Uh it I would prefer that Watson didn't have a
13:32lengthy lower body injury history, of course, but so do a lot of the wide receivers that we're drafting in that range. Uh Devonte Adams, Mike Evans, for
13:42example, are are some guys that go before uh or around him that are even older and also have lengthy lower body
13:50injury histories. Uh some even more recent injuries for those guys than Watson.
13:55every wide receiver at re really over the past couple years, most wide receivers in the NFL have run kind of poor on injuries. Uh I I have a we'll
14:05have a bunch of data breaking that down in my anatomy of a league winner article. Uh but it yeah, it's it's been
14:11a not great run for wide receivers generally in the NFL, but Watson uh before last season uh went uh to like
14:19the one one of the universities up there. or they >> Yeah, I think it was University of Wisconsin studied his hamstring.
14:26>> Wisconsin. [laughter] Yeah, they they were like studying his hamstring mass and like finding ways to fix it. Like super cool new medical science that I
14:35I'm not clued in on, but yeah. I mean, since then, he's been a a lot healthier overall. So, I I Well, yes, of course,
14:42it's a point to think about with Watson.
14:44I I'm just not that concerned about the floor or what if the receiver I draft in round five through seven gets injured
14:51like that that just happens to so many players.
14:54>> Yeah, it's very very hard to predict injuries and you're just right. I mean the the receiver position and quarterbacks in general too, man. We've
15:02had like 20 23 and 25 were really really bad years for quarterback injuries. A lot of number number of starters miss
15:09time. Uh that's just you know the nature of the beast game we play. But I don't know. I just want to draft the good
15:15players at good prices. Christian Watson over the last two seasons trails only JSN and Puka Nakua by yards per route run. The dude is freaking incredible,
15:22Ryan. Like we just need to get this guy on the field like 80% of the time and he is going to smash. Uh Ryan, I'll tee you
15:29up, man. This is a player that you and I are both super super high on. Jaguars feels like there's going to be at least
15:35one league winner from this offense.
15:38You're also all in on the running back here.
15:42Yeah, Bashel Tutin of the Jaguars I am all in on as you said. Uh and yeah, it does really start with I want pieces of
15:51this offense, right? Uh so just to take you guys through this, uh Liam Cohen, the Jaguars head coach over the past two
15:59seasons ranks seventh in the NFL in total backfield expected fantasy points per game. So, what that just means is his back fields have seen the most
16:10valuable volume weighted for fantasy football. Expected fantasy points is just a stat that gives credit for targets, for touches near the end zone.
16:20Uh, we model it out. Basically, every single touch and running back opportunity has a fantasy value attached to it. We add all of those up for Liam
16:31Cohen's backfields. He's been top seven uh over the past three years. And the significance of that is and is really big because Cohen does not really run
16:42especially runheavy offenses. He's been above the league median in drop backs per game, uh yards per drop back, all of that. The these are pass at least pass
16:50leaning offenses that are effective, are getting to the red zone a lot and therefore are giving all of this awesome opportunity to the back field. Uh Cohen
17:01is third among all play callers in EPA per play since 2021. Uh seventh in yards per play, first in points per game. Like
17:09this guy is just a total genius and you want one of his running backs. Uh and really his entire offense. But Ton to
17:17me, I think at cost is the clearest bet for touches and volume adjusted for cost right now to me on this entire offense.
17:27Uh, and that's really because I just have little to no belief in Laquin Allen and in Chris Rodriguez. Uh, so what
17:36let's start with Allen because this is like the own that people love to do and say, "Well, Laquin Allen, they love
17:41him." Uh, pass blocking and playing on third downs. That doesn't really matter for fantasy football. Uh, if if you look last year, all Jaguars running backs
17:51combined for just 50 receiving yards on third downs the entire season. Uh that's crazy there. There's just very little fantasy production happening on third
18:00downs in general. It was especially true for the Jaguars last year. Uh but Ton commanded more targets, more receiving yards than Laquin Allen last year. Uh
18:09despite only having five routes on third down the entire season. That's just not a valuable role. When you're pass blocking, you're not scoring fantasy
18:17points. That's totally cool if Laquin Allen is going to do that again this year. Uh, as for Chris Rodriguez, Toutin is just clearly the more proven
18:27NFL pass catcher than him, which is kind of crazy to say. Toutton does not have that big of a pass catching sample in
18:33the NFL. Uh, but he has more routes on early downs, more targets on early downs last year, 70 and 13, than the
18:42careerhighs for Chris Rodriguez. Uh, who has been in the league for several years, has bounced on and off the Commander practice squad. Uh some people
18:52seem convinced that Rodriguez is going to get the goal line role. I would say why do we think that considering that
18:59Toutton got a ton of goal line touches last year as well? Uh even with Travis ETN on the team, Tutin was taking away
19:08from him some at the goal line. They were using him as the goal line back.
19:11Uh, Tuin leads all rookie running backs over the past five seasons in success rate, which has been at least like a
19:19decently predictive stat for rookie running backs in terms of are these guys going to continue to be NFL players continue to have coaches give them the
19:28ball. Uh, Raandre Stevenson, Isaiah Pacheco, some other day three players that ranked highly in that stat as rookies. So, I I think that's also
19:37compelling. You add that to Tuton's amazing explosive profile coming out of college in terms of explosive run rate, yards after contact per attempt. He was
19:46one of the best running backs in all of these kind of explosive statistics. And I I think you just have a recipe for a
19:53year two breakout in one of the most valuable backfields in the NFL that has a ceiling of like a mid-range RB1 if he
20:03really does get all the goal line work and a decent amount of pass catching. I don't know that that's like the most
20:08likely scenario, but that's pretty close to what we were seeing with Bucky Irving at the end of his rookie season under
20:14Liam Cohen. Even with Rashad White there, uh Irving was just so efficient on the ground, was getting used at the goal line, was getting enough design
20:22targets on early downs to kind of make up for Rashad White being there. I see like a similar ceiling case uh with
20:29Toutin. And yeah, you can get him in round five, round six. right now he kind of goes at the end of just the pocket of
20:38early round running backs where you can just get one the one on one of the best offenses in the league uh with yeah
20:47going into year two when running backs most often break out it it just seems like an obvious pick to me I'm really
20:52excited for Bashel Tutin uh I prefer him to a DeAndre Swift a Jadarian Price who I think are also intriguing bets in
21:01their own right but Tutin just really stands out to me in that range is the highest ceiling bet.
21:07>> The ceiling is humongous for Tuton. I think he's got one of the widest range of outcomes of any player that's going
21:14in the top 60 in drafts because you're right, the the ceiling is RB1, top 12 upside that he just like completely
21:21eviscerates Chris Rodriguez, gets the goal line work, has, you know, this super valuable role and he's good like and he's super explosive and can rip off
21:29big plays. I I've been making the same upside argument for Tuton all off seasonason. It's that, you know, this Cohen offense, you know, heavily
21:37utilizes, you know, design screens to their running backs. It's something that it hasn't really mattered how good you are either. It's just going to keep
21:44doing it. Uh Rashad White and Bucky Irving, I think, are both receivers than Travisen, and it still didn't matter last year. The Jags tied the 49ers for
21:53design screen targets to their backfield last season. So, we can say, okay, maybe Tutton's not like super accomplished. uh in any facet. He, you know, struggled a
22:02little bit last year to to get on the field, but the small sample between his yards after contact, the missed tackle
22:08force numbers, and, you know, just kind of a few of the explosive plays we saw, especially in that Bills game, uh,
22:14certainly lends itself to like, okay, you can certainly see the upside. And we've do we do this every year in fantasy. We project out every offense.
22:21And you know, like you said, these secondyear running backs typically are the ones that are, you know, breaking out and and significantly beating their
22:29ADP. The only problem is this year, Ryan, the fantasy market is just a lot sharper. I think two or three years ago,
22:34Toutton would have been like a seventh or eighth round pick. Now he's a fifth to sixth round pick. Over on sleeper, if
22:40you have any sleeper drafts or ESPNU drafts, he is going a little bit cheaper over there around 60 ADP. uh FFBC
22:47underdog. He is going solidly in the middle of of the fifth round, trending towards like almost a fourth fourth and fifth round turn pick. I'm just with you
22:56though on to Chris Rodriguez is like an early down grinder. You mentioned the goal line role. I think that's my main
23:02concern that they they ended up splitting here. But this backfield in terms of expected touchdowns last year was top 12, Ryan. I mean, you just split
23:11it out by, you know, just the running backs. You look at just the quarterbacks. This was a team that that had plenty of rushing touchdown equity
23:17inside the 10 last season. So, you know, even if it's like a split where Rodriguez is getting like, you know, half the goal in carry Tuton gets the
23:25other half, there's going to be plenty of highv value touches for Tuton to completely pay off his ADP. And final thought on Tuton. I think in general,
23:33Ryan, the way I've been drafting him is I want him kind of as like a part of like a hu running back build where I've
23:40got one really good running back in the first two rounds and then I feel like, okay, maybe I'll come back and I'll just
23:45get some like boring production like Raandre Stevenson or Chuba Hubard in the following round. Is there a specific way you're attacking Toutin? Like how you're
23:53building teams around him?
23:55>> Yeah, you certainly don't want Toutin as your RB1. I agree. He's kind of a a riskier, higher upside bet that you want
24:02to layer with some more sure things. So, yeah, certainly on a hero running back build where you have a better bet from
24:08round one or round two as your RB1 Bellcow. Uh, another guy that I I think is interesting in terms of pairing with
24:15Tuton, uh, is David Montgomery, who if you just draft him the round earlier, I think Montgomery has one of the highest
24:22floors of any running back right now, especially adjusted for what you have to pay to get him. I think he's basically
24:30the same thing as Javvante Williams and uh Kairen Williams and Travis Achan and all of these like kind of round three uh
24:39dead zone running backs that we might talk about in a little bit. I I think you by drafting Montgomery, you're drafting the same profile a round a
24:47round and a half later and he's like kind of a stabilizing force there where I'm very certain that David Montgomery is going to get all the volume that you
24:55need from him. I have questions about the Texans offense, but he is is at the very least going to be a consistent
25:01producer for you. So, like even a Montgomery Tutin running back room is something that kind of intrigues me.
25:09Yeah, personally, I I think probably I I prefer to also have a round one or a round two running back. That range is
25:15very strong this year. Um but yeah, toon as the RB2 or the flex on a build kind of like that is is one of my favorite
25:22ways to go right now. Yeah, David Montgomery, I'm with you. I've been pounding the table for him as well. I like that call quite a bit. That's a
25:29traditional zero running back field right there, Ryan. Those are those are completely dead going into this year. Uh Ryan, I I like that call quite a bit. If
25:36you do go zero RB, there are, you know, between I think Montgomery would be the last one. That'd be like the last guy in
25:42that I'd want there in that pocket.
25:44Similar range of drafts right now. Terry McLuren is going very very closely to David Montgomery. And I am buying all the Terry Mcccluren I can get my hands
25:54on this season. Ryan, I just think it's an excellent spot for him to have a career year in terms of a number of
26:01different facets, right? Like it's the least amount of target competition he's really ever had. We'll see if they do sign Stfan Diggs or bring in Keenan
26:08Allen. They do desperately need some more depth. I'll I'll grant you that.
26:12But two years ago in Jaden Dan's rookie year, Terry McLaren was wide receiver 16 by fantasy points per game. He did run a
26:19little hot on touchdowns and this is a part of the reason we were kind of fading him actually going into last
26:23year. It's that he just ran really hot on touchdowns. Probably was unlikely to repeat those 13 touchdowns. But bro, he had like the worst injury luck ever last
26:31year. Had a quad injury that he couldn't never get right. Then he reinjured it in the middle of the year. And then Jayen
26:36Daniels had like a 15 different types of injuries. Prior to last season in that rookie year, Tara McLaren and Jayen Daniels had one of the best connections
26:43in football, right? Like it was one of the regression candidate things that we were talking about. It's like there's no way they sustain this and they didn't.
26:52Last year Terry McLaren's catchable throw rate went down to 74% according to fantasy points data. The year prior it was upwards of 83%. And this is really
27:01only something we see Joe Burrow and Brock Party do have just like insanely high 80% catchable throw rates to the receivers year. So, I'm just saying I
27:09think the truth is somewhere in the middle with Terry McLaren and at this entry point, you know, fourth round, I still think we we're squinting and we
27:16can see some wide receiver one upside here. I I'm looking at this as like I think this team is going to like
27:24desperately need Terry McLaren to be their alpha x wide receiver and and you know, basically lead this team in targets. But it's also like there's some
27:32there's some real upside with Jaden Daniels coming back fully healthy. We saw him, you know, be a prolific passer in his rookie season in terms of
27:40efficiency and his accuracy. If we can just marry these two things where, you know, Washington maybe has to throw a little bit more more this year just
27:48because, you know, this team is probably not going to be very good, Ryan, and we mix in the fact that McLaren has already
27:53been, you know, the clear lead target.
27:55He's been between 115 135 targets in his entire career up to last year. I'm looking at McLaren as one of the best
28:02buys in the fourth round. And I know you said that McLaren and Christian Watson are very similar bets. I totally agree
28:08with you. I have them backtoback in my tears ranking article, but I I I view them similarly. I think Watson should be
28:14going in the fourth round. And I think McLaren should be going even earlier in the fourth round, maybe closer to a 34
28:21turn pick just because I mean, are we really are we really too concerned about Antonio Williams or any of these other
28:26guys kind of stealing targets away from him? I'm just looking at this as like this is man, this is McLaren's big
28:31chance to have like a huge top 12 fantasy receiver season.
28:36Yeah, I'm with you fully. Uh to just throw out a few more exciting Terry McLaren stats. Uh he ranks fourth in the
28:44NFL in first downs per route run last year. That was behind only Puka Nua, Jackson Smith and Jigba, Alman Ross St.
28:51Brown, stud fantasy wide receiver ones.
28:54Uh, and what's interesting about first downs per route run as a stat is it's one of the best stats at spotting league
29:02winning wide receivers in the following season. Uh, so I'll have a full write up on this in Anatomy of a league winner,
29:09which yeah, as we mentioned earlier in the show, will be coming out uh in early August that people can go check out on
29:14the site when that releases. But yeah, as a little teaser from it, first downs per out run is so great because there's
29:21almost no difference between the first downs per out run that receivers average in their big league winning seasons when they're over a 55% ESPN playoff rate and
29:31the first downs per run that they average the season before. In most stats, players improve when they have their big breakout league winning
29:39season, right? In yards, touchdowns, even yards per out run. All of these we have to find, okay, what stats can increase. First downs per outr run is
29:47awesome because it just stays the same when guys are elite in it. They just very frequently turn into league winners the following year. McLaren again fourth
29:56best in that stat last year. That's with uh a ton of Marcus Mariota and a super injured Jane Daniels at quarterback. I
30:04just see think the sky's is the limit from Korean. I fully agree. He's going to be a big flag plant for me or at
30:11least a big target kind of in this range of receivers where I I really think the wide receivers are so strong in rounds
30:17three, four, and five of drafts that I I am kind of really building my draft plan around McLaren and a handful of other
30:24guys that go there. It's really strong and it doesn't really make any sense that McLaren's going so much later than he did last year. I mean, this was a
30:31player Ryan we were taking like 29 or 30 overall in in best ball drafts. Now he's sunk into the the mid-40s. He has come
30:38up a little bit, but this is, you know, I'm not saying I I would go out and draft Aaron McLaren right now in the
30:42middle of the third round. That's not something I'm advising doing. I'm saying that there really like his situation, not much has really changed. In fact,
30:49I'd argue it's gotten better with less target competition and I think this price is just amazing for him. I I think
30:55I would take him closer to that 34 turn, close to where Lad Maconi and T Higgins are going. Uh Terry McLaren is
31:02definitely a flag plant player for me as well. One more player that I am also planting my flag on big time this year
31:09is Tyler Warren here at Fantasy Points.
31:11We love some Tyler Warren. We have him projected ahead of Colston Lovelin. This is something that is pretty contrarian across the industry, but we're just
31:19looking at it from a number of different angles with Warren. It's, you know, he obviously had a pretty strong rookie season. Uh, basically you look at any
31:27metric, you know, compared to the last couple of years [snorts] for rookie tight ends, it's basically been Brock Bowers, Sam Leaporta, or Tyler Warren's
31:35rookie season ranks at the top of the NFL. I went back and looked, Ryan, all time. What's basically what's been the
31:41production of these rookie tight ends?
31:43How where does Tyler Warren rank amongst them? Warren became just the ninth rookie tight end all time to average 11 or more PPR points per game. and he was
31:52eighth all time in 48 with 48 receiving yards per game. Uh the the target share should be really strong. Alec Pierce is
32:01dealing with a foot injury. Josh DS has always kind of been a part-timeish player that they're going to have to thrust into a much larger role this
32:09year. Warren led the team last year with 112 targets by one over Michael Pitman who is now gone. Pitman at 111. The
32:16Colts are vacating 23% of their target share. I'm looking at this as like I think Coloulston Lovelin and Warren should be in the same tier. I I if I've
32:25gone back and forth in this with the projections. Obviously trust Chris a ton and his work a ton. I think Coloulston
32:31Lovelin probably has slightly more upside just because of this offense and where we think directionally the Bears are headed. Uh the Colts, you know,
32:39right now in terms of implied points per game are a few ticks below the Bears.
32:42But all that being said, man, Warren led this team in targets last year. he should have plenty of room to grow with
32:48this 23% vacated target share. And you know, you mix in the fact that Alec Pierce might not be fully healthy to
32:55start this year [snorts] coming back from the ankle injury. Warren is is kind of a twofold type of player. He's a
33:01little bit like Tucker Craft where he can kind of get these dump and run yak catches, but I think he's also pretty
33:06damn good route runner grunting up the scenes, getting huge separation up the middle. I like Warren quite a bit going in this like 60 to 70 pocket. Ryan, I'm
33:15with you. I think in general, I'm I'm trying to build my draft plan around a lot of these receivers that are going in
33:20the third, fourth, and fifth round.
33:22Warren is going at the end of this pocket, and I think he makes a ton of sense if you do miss out on a few of the
33:28receivers that either maybe you get sniped on or uh you just, you know, miss out on a few of your players. I like
33:33Warren quite a bit in that pocket. I think he should be going kind of in the mid-50s as a fifth round pick. across
33:39the industry right now. He is uh going in the 60s and in most non-tight end premium standard formats. Uh I'm I'm
33:46just looking at this as like there's a huge amount of upside here for a player that just had one of the best rookie
33:52seasons of all time. You know, it's probably been knocked down a few tiers because Brock Powers and Sam Leaporta, they Colston Lelin even at the end of
33:59last year just had awesome seasons. But Warren within the context of of the NFL, man, I mean, he just had one of the best
34:06rookie seasons ever and he's going in the 60s. I think it's it's a really really strong price for him.
34:13>> I think it is. Uh I I'll give like mild push back, which is that yeah, for me, kind of similar to Jaylen Herz. Uh, I I
34:20would need him kind of in that pocket past where a Terry Mcccluren or a Christian Watson or even a [snorts] Bashel Totin are going for me to feel
34:29like it's worth pulling the trigger on a tight end that early. Uh, but yeah, in in any scenarios where Warren is falling
34:36past that pocket of premier like running back and wide receiver breakout candidates, I think he's totally worth a swing. Uh, I would agree that I don't
34:45think the ceiling is as high as it is for Coloulston Lovelin necessarily. Um, but yeah, there there's just as you said, there's a ton of intermediate work
34:54that's opening up in this offense. Uh, with Michael Pitman gone, Alec Pierce has never taken on that much of it in
35:02his career. It a lot of the early offseason uh, coach speed kind of sounded like they thought he could and that that was part part of why they paid
35:10Pierce so much. But I think Warren is a pretty logical candidate to uh yeah, just benefit from a lot of what Michael
35:18Pitman is leaving behind. Uh and don't forget, Daniel Jones was leading the NFL in passing yards through week nine last year. This Colts offense, at least at
35:26one point, was working incredibly well before Jones injured his fibula. So there there's I am a big fan of Shane Stiken. There's definitely a world where
35:35the Colts passing offense is way more productive than kind of any of their ADPs give it credit for. So yeah, I
35:43can't hate on it too much. I really prefer the running backs and wide receivers. I just think the opportunity cost at tight end is really high in the
35:50early rounds this year. Um but yeah, similarly if if he's kind of slipping past those tiers, I am totally cool with
35:57him.
35:57>> Yeah, right now he's going 65 overall in underdog. He's going around similar pocket as Jordan Tyson, Brian Thomas, Romo Dunay, that's kind of like the end
36:05of that tier that Ryan and I are talking about. And I think that's just the sweet spot for him. If he gets pushed further
36:10into the the tier where Christian Watson's going, Jameson Williams kind of in the 50s, that's that's where I'd be out. That's where I'd be a lot more
36:17hesitant. But, you know, by that point in the draft round, I've usually got two or three good running backs. I've usually got two or three good receivers.
36:24I'm perfectly fine taking Tyler Warren, a player that I'm I'm very very high on at his at his ADP. And I think this is
36:31just an awesome year for a late round quarterback. I'm just more willing than ever to kind of push quarterback. I know
36:35we just talked through Jaylen Herz and just kind of how good that price is for him. Uh but this is an awesome year for
36:41late round quarterbacks. There's always there's always going to be a quarterback who's going to fall past his ADP that you're probably going to like in terms
36:47of just both their projection and you know how they you know where they're drafted. basically uh late round quarterback is kind of the way I'm
36:54thinking of a lot of drafts this year and Warren certainly fits into that type of build. We are talking buys and sells

37:27signed up for that. That is code fantasy 10% off or you can use the QR code on your screen if you're listening to us on
37:33YouTube right now. Ryan, let's switch gears a little bit. We're going to talk, you know, we've talked positivity on this Monday morning. Let's talk some
37:43negativity. We'll go the opposite way.
37:45talk players that were selling at their ADP. Ryan, why don't you go ahead and get us started on a third round dead
37:52zoneish type running back here.
37:55Yeah. Uh I teased this a little bit earlier. It's time to be a hater and I am fine being a hater on Javante
38:03Williams. Uh, so kind of the thesis that I have at the running back position this year is that the running back dead zone,
38:12as we've classically thought of it, is kind of back. Uh, and I don't have to get super into the explanation here, but
38:19I've got uh a tweet here that producer Trey can put up on screen that I kind of want to talk through that'll help me
38:27talk through the position from an archetype standpoint this year. Uh so what I did is I just over the past 5
38:34years I split every running back up in terms of the percent of their volume, their XFP that they've gotten from receiving. Uh so we we had non-p pass
38:44catchers, we had kind of average uh workh horses or average bell cows, and we have elite pass catchers. Three buckets here. And what I found was that
38:53anywhere inside the top 100 of ADP and also inside the top 50 of ADP, the non-pass catchers have hit ceiling
39:02outcomes pretty often. Uh just in terms of overperforming ADP expectation. The elite pass catchers have done the same.
39:10They can overperform ADP expectation a lot. But the guys that are kind of in the middle, the average bellcows, uh the
39:17ones that do catch passes maybe two to four targets uh per game, two two to three catches a game. You look at them
39:25and you don't think, oh, this is only a two down running back. But really, they're not scoring that much from receiving. Those guys, the guys in the
39:33middle, have been the worst bets at ADP over the past handful of seasons. I think it's a psychological thing where people just push down the non-p pass
39:44catchers a as it's become more and more apparent that pass catching is really important for fantasy football running backs. I I think there's just a
39:51psychological bias happening here where we are too black and white on on running back archetypes and we penalize guys uh like Derrick Henry, like James Cook,
40:01like Jonathan Taylor in previous years.
40:03Uh but we don't kind of proportionally penalize the guys in the middle. Uh like Javvante Williams is like the perfect example of just an a an average pass
40:14catcher. He's yeah has some work in the receiving game, but it very arguably last year was over inflated uh by situation. 38% of his targets on the
40:26season came in the four games that CD Lamb missed from weeks three through six. uh his target share got cut in half
40:34uh in games without or with Lamb versus without Lamb. Fell all the way to RB45 uh in the games without him. Never hit a
40:4310% target share in any game after Lamb returned in week seven. So overall, it looks like yeah, Williams has caught a
40:52decent number of passes. I don't know that he's actually that much better of a pass catcher uh than a Quinch Sean
40:59Judkins or a Derrick Henry or like these types of guys that people look at as just these two down grinders. Uh and
41:07let's look at the other uh just kind of avenues to fantasy football upside for a running back, right? There's pass catching. Uh there's work inside the 10
41:15yard line near the goal line, touchdown upside, right? Uh and there's explosive plays. Uh, and Javvante doesn't really have room for improvement in most of
41:25these. Last year, he ranked top eight in carries inside the 10. The Cowboys offense was awesome. It was great for supporting a fantasy running back. Top
41:33eight in carries inside the 10. Still only averaged 15.3 fantasy points per game. Uh, just like a low-end borderline RB1. Uh, Javvante has not been anywhere
41:44close to the top of the league uh, in terms of yards after contact, explosive run rate, any of these kind of big play
41:52style metrics over the past several seasons. He was better last year certainly uh, being a year removed from that knee injury that he suffered a
42:00couple years ago with the Broncos, but still nowhere near the top of the league. like if you just want the most
42:04explosive runners in the NFL, uh you should draft like JK Dobbins or DeAndre Swift several rounds later, uh and and make that type of bet, right? That that
42:13is not Javante Williams at all. So, just kind of every avenue to me seems closed off to Javvante Williams. It was either
42:20pretty close to maxed out for him last year in terms of how good could this possibly go, uh or he's just not the
42:28type of player to really build further on any of these buckets. So, I I really think he's being drafted pretty close to
42:35his ceiling uh in round three. I think people click him because he projects safety and he projects stability. Oh my god, I need to fill my RB1 slot. I don't
42:46have a running back yet. Uh but that's exactly what creates the running back dead zone is when people are desperately
42:54drafting these lower upside profiles uh in rounds three and four just to fill out their lineup and feel safe and find
43:04a guy to plug in there. Uh th those are the running backs I want to avoid this year. Those that's the running back dead
43:10zone. Uh I am out on Javvante Williams.
43:13And as I said earlier, I I think David Montgomery one to one and a half to two rounds later, depending on your
43:18platform, is effectively the same pick, except I think David Montgomery is actually a better runner than Javvante Williams is even at this point in his
43:28career.
43:28>> Yeah, you won't get any push back from me on the David Montgomery uh steam there. I'm with you on that. They're
43:33they're very similar profiles. I think the one thing I'll push back on with Williams is he I think he does have some
43:39pretty significant touchdown upside by expected touchdowns here at Fantasy Point. He was RB7 last season, trailing only Jonathan Taylor, Christian McAffrey, and Dererick Henry by a wide
43:49margin, but then it was pretty close between him, Kairen Williams, and DeAndre Swift as kind of like rounding out the top eight. So yeah, I don't I
43:56don't see the like high-end apex like he's probably not going to catch 60 balls this year. or it would take like a
44:01Ferguson or god forbid like a CD Lamb type injury for that to happen. I'm with you that that apex outcome is just not
44:08there for Jovante. But I do think in terms of like steady production at the end of the third round, it it's fine. I
44:14think if it's like you started your draft with I don't know, Saquon Barkley or Devon Achan at the end of the first
44:21round, second round, uh you took a receiver, you come back and you can take like a floor RB2, I think that's fine.
44:28I'm I'm not like super super excited about Javvante. I think he has been steamed up to a point where the ADP has
44:34gotten pretty close to his ceiling, but I I would prefer him to Kairen Williams.
44:38I think Josh Jacobs is a very very similar bet, Ryan. Um Jacobs should be going ahead of Javvante in my opinion if
44:45we didn't have the potential suspension risk looming for, you know, his off-field transgressions potentially this off season. Uh, at the end of the
44:53day, yeah, I think he's he's probably slightly overpriced, but like in terms of a structural structural build, if he gets into like 33, 34, 35 overall, and I
45:02do feel like, okay, maybe I do need like a produ like some level of production at RB2 because the guys that go behind him,
45:09man, it's it's Cam Scataboo who has like massive range of outcomes, right? like definitely has similar bellcow upside, probably has better passcatching upside
45:18than than Javvante Williams, but he's just on a way worse offense. Then we've got DeAndre Swift, David Montgomery. I think I'm just with you on Montgomery,
45:25but the back's right behind him. I mean, it's Judkins, it's Irving, I'm with you on Bay Shell Tutin. Uh it's just really
45:31starts to fall off a cliff right there.
45:33So, I I understand why he's kind of getting pushed up just because the guys behind him, man, like Judkins and Irv
45:38and Irvings in particular, like those two just their roles really stand out to me as like very very shaky. Uh, indeed.
45:47Uh, Ryan, one more player that you were looking to sell going into 2026. It's a fifth round receiver, new face in a new
45:55place.
45:57Yeah, I I'm going to be a huge hater here.
46:00I've been a hater of this player for a couple years. So, Excuse me, guys. But yeah, why are we drafting DJ Moore in
46:07round five right now? This doesn't make any sense to me from having watched him or having reviewed any of the data that
46:14he's put on the stat sheet over the past handful of seasons. This is just not a round five receiver profile. Uh we'll
46:21we'll get to why people are after, but just to kind of lay this out, uh DJ Moore has not been a more efficient
46:30receiver than Khil Shakir or or a better target earner than Khil Shakir in recent times. Uh by all of these stats up on
46:38screen, targets per game, yards per outr run, uh targets per outr run, uh Khil Shakir last year just beat DJ more and
46:47that's >> significantly less target competition.
46:50Ryan significantly less Khalil Shafir did it with >> sure but like really like Roma Dun was playing injured for most of the season.
47:01Colston Lovelin Luther Burton not full-time players for most of the season. I I don't actually know that the target competition was that different
47:09for Moore and Shakir. like yes, but it's just there's no there's not like an alpha target earner that was running a
47:16full-time route share next to Moore outside of like four weeks of pre-injury Roma Dunay. And to me, it's even more of
47:24an indictment on a receiver like DJ Moore where you're playing a full-time role. you're averaging 1.3 yards per out run when these rookies uh Lovelin and
47:34Burden can come in at the end of the season and post some of the best efficiency numbers of any pass catcher
47:40last year really like in the same exact offense. You couldn't uh you you couldn't capitalize on a similar situation, a similar role. So yeah, I
47:50just don't see it with DJ Moore. I think he is probably well past his prime at this point. Uh if you just look at all
47:58of these stats over the past three seasons, he's been declining pretty just evenly as we've gone in yards per out run in targets per out run. First read
48:06target share from two years ago is especially a big drop off 38% to 17.5%.
48:12Uh of course the separation win rate that we chart here at Fantasy Points data has been going down for DJ Moore.
48:19It's been not very great over either of the past two seasons. He's 29 years old this off season. Like why is this any
48:27different than when Amari Cooper went to the Bills or when Josh Palmer went to the Bills? Hey, Josh Palmer's uh like
48:35ancillary data was better than this uh when they signed him last year. Like I think this is just another one of these
48:43receivers that the Bills overpay that is going to be used in more of like a downfield field stretching role while Khil Shakir outtargets all of them uh
48:52just by getting all of these PPR scam cheat code targets underneath. Uh just yeah pulls more target share out of the
49:00offense. I I just don't see it with DJ Moore at all. I am I if I would need to be more than like 50% sure that he's
49:10better than Amari Cooper was when he got traded to the Bills. Like we we've just seen this so many times. Uh it's it's
49:16exciting in theory to play with Josh Allen, but what Josh Allen hasn't supported like a high-end fantasy wide receiver since Stefon Diggs. And part
49:25part of that's that the offense has been very runheavy under Joe Brady, but like it's worked for the most part, right?
49:31Allen's only needed to go Superman in two or three games a year and then yeah, sure, all the receivers are going to
49:37score a million fantasy points then.
49:38Maybe that's a better baseball argument.
49:41Uh, but I just don't see it for DJ Moore in like a managed league. I I think very quickly you're going to realize, oh,
49:47this is a total nightmare guy to decide whether to plug him into a lineup uh from week to week. Like there I don't
49:53think there's going to be consistent volume, consistent production whatsoever from him.
49:58>> That could certainly be the case. I think in I think that's my biggest push back right there on DJ Moore is just
50:03that like Allen and Cook basically take all of the expected fantasy points that we care about in terms of the touchdown
50:09upside and the big play upside. I I just I do push back though on like I just think DJ Moore is a bad fit in this this
50:17Bears offense. I I hear you that he, you know, pretty much got out alphaed by Roma Dunse to start the year and then he
50:23would basically faded into obscurity at the end of last season, but I mean Caleb Williams is not a fantasy like fantasy
50:31friendly quarterback at all either. DJ Moore's catchable throw rate last year was 75%, Roma Dunay was sub 70%. It's just, you know, Caleb Williams is just
50:41not a player who can provide any level of like downfield accuracy. And I think if you buy that Josh Allen, okay, sure,
50:48yeah, he's never really had a like a besides Stfan Diggs, he's never really had like a, you know, clear alpha target
50:54wide, you know, wide receiver. I hear you on all of that, but he is a significantly significantly bigger upgrade, uh, than than Caleb Williams. I
51:02mean, a bad year for Josh Allen in terms of catchable throw was honestly like last year, like 79 80%. Um, I I think
51:09there's just big play upside is like what we're looking for basically with these wide receiver twos. And in terms of price, I would prefer Christian
51:17Watson. They both go back to back. I think Watson right now is just a better NFL wide receiver, but I I I don't think
51:23the price is like egregious on DJ Moore.
51:25I think I have him at the end of this fifth round tier as well, but I'm not like completely out. I think middle of
51:31the fifth round is is fair because Ryan, I mean, this is a pocket where you're kind of saying the same thing I am. Like
51:36I'm kind of I'm very very tepid on Quinn Sean Judkins. I'm very very I don't know like pretty much almost out on Bucky
51:43Irving this year at his ADP. They go in a similar pocket and it's like we do at in that range like you got to have to
51:51decide like structurally where you're going with the with the positions and if you feel really good about your running backs at that point I'm fine swinging
51:58for the fences with DJ Moore just saying hey this is the best quarterback he's ever played with. Maybe there's still something left in the tank. But yeah, I
52:06think with with Moore, the main thing that you have to get right is the volume and kind of like what level of upside
52:12you're comfortable like with in this offense. And among all these receivers that go in that pocket, Ryan, he is the worst volume bet. Like by far the worst
52:20volume bet. I think Christian Watson probably has significantly higher apex outcome in terms of his targets per game. Maybe eight or nine. Jame
52:28Williams, you know, we've seen him, you know, over the last couple seasons have significantly more target competition than DJ Moore with Aman Raw and Sa Sam
52:36Laaporta, and he's he's pretty much shoehorned himself in as like the clear number two target in that offense.
52:42Devonte Adams, Mike Evans, both are Hall of Fame level players. They're going in the similar range. So, I I prefer straight up all of them over DJ Moore.
52:50But, I am kind of just I'm leaving a little small light on for Moore. just a small one uh for just basically Josh
52:57Allen purposes. It really is it comes it comes down to that with the with this offense. Um all right, I will switch
53:04gears to a receiver I'm completely out on this season and has nothing to do with them as a player. Ryan, I love
53:12Tedoa McMillan. I think he's going to be a stud in the NFL for an extremely long time. I just cannot stand this price and
53:20I cannot stand his quarterback and I'm out on Tat at 39 overall. I there's just a number of receivers like the ones
53:28we've a few of we've talked about today that I just prefer straight up uh over T.
53:34T is a a really really low upside bet because he is attached to Bryce Young.
53:40Tedo McMillan, you know, the receiving role is going to be awesome. You look you're going to look at his target share
53:46metrics. You're going to look at his XFP metrics in the middle of the year and you'll be like, "Why is this guy not
53:50producing?" Well, it's because Bryce Young is averaging 180 passing yards per game in his NFL career. It's for basically it's fourth worst among all
53:59quarterbacks that have made at least 25 starts and have at least 1,000 pass attempts in their first three seasons since 2000. He is the fourth worst
54:07quarterback by yards per game. He's the second worst quarterback in that sample of 52 quarterbacks by passing, yards per attempt. Last year, Ryan was arguably
54:16his best year, Bryce Young's best year, and he was still really awful for fantasy football. He was really awful for his fantasy receivers. T would get
54:2640% of the targets every week, and it kind of ended up not mattering some weeks because Bryce Young only threw for
54:32200 or more yards four times last season. He only did it four times. And the four times that he did do it, two of
54:38them came attached to 45 and 55 pass attempt games. just two outlierish type pass attempts. In terms of the volume, bro, Tet is a tough click at 39. And
54:49again, it has nothing to do with the player. Like, I think he's a super super talented player. I think he's going to
54:54have a top 15 role this season probably by XFP. I just really struggle to see the upside because his quarterback situation is so bad. Uh, please tell me
55:03I'm wrong because this is a player, Ryan, I've really I've really wanted to buy into, but I want to get your
55:08thoughts on T. What do you where are you treat how are you treating him and and are you taking him at this like three
55:13four turn ADP?
55:16>> Yeah, I'm not taking him at that ADP. I feel pretty much the exact same way that you do. Uh Ted McMillan is going to for
55:24the next couple of years or however long he is still attached to Bryce Young.
55:28He's going to have like the early career of Garrett Wilson or the early career of Drake London for example where yeah the
55:36peripheral metrics are always going to be there. the targets per out run, the first read target share is always going to look great. But yeah, the passing
55:45volume is just never going to be there for him to really really matter in fantasy. So yeah, I I think Ted Roy
55:53McMillan can be a mid-range wide receiver too without too much sweat this year. I'm I'm not saying that he's just not going to score any fantasy points,
56:02but yeah, to me the only way that he can push beyond that very capped ceiling uh is like the a Jacobe Brassette type of
56:12situation like we got last year, right?
56:14Where we were all out on the Cardinals because of the Yeah. Just their performance with Kyler Murray, Trey McBride, he's never caught a touchdown
56:22ever, right? to to me it's like a similar type of thing where short of like a a miraculous change of circumstance uh where we just get a
56:32different quarterback under center that is a just more of a fantasy friendly high volume drop back type of passer. I don't see the fantasy upside for Tedo
56:42McMillan. So yeah, unfortunately I agree. Boring answer. He's great. Uh he's like he's a stable Dynasty asset that I I don't mind having on Dynasty
56:53teams where I'm not trying to compete.
56:54Uh but that that's about the best I can say for him. Yeah, he's Yeah. And Dynasty, I'm with you. I'm still in. I
57:01think they end up having to replace Bryce Young probably by his own play.
57:05But it's not just like, you know, I don't trust Bryce Young. It's also, bro, it's a very very runheavy offense. This
57:10Panthers team was fourth in terms of run rate over expectation last year. They had a negative 4% pass rate. Uh underex
57:17expected. Only the Dolphins, Ravens, and Jets were more runheavy than the Panthers were last season. So, it's just a it's a multitude of factors here for
57:25McMillan. I think this is just a player.
57:27You nailed it. It's going to be like Drake London early in his career where we're just like desperate to get this
57:31guy better quarterback play. And I know how we're joking Drake London early in his career. It's still Drake London now, man. We need to get Drake London better
57:38quarterback play now and free our guys.
57:40But this this is just it's just a bad I feel like it's a bad bet at the at the three four turn for a quarterback who at
57:47his highest range of outcomes is like a 6.5 YPA and like 215 passing yards per game.
57:54Uh man, I just I cannot I cannot get there with Ted. I straight up prefer Tara Mcccluren. I think I prefer Garrett
58:01Wilson as well, Ryan. Um I you could sell me even on Jaylen Wadd with Bo Nicks being a better upside bet. Malik
58:09Neighbors has, you know, some of the widest range of outcomes of any receiver just because of his, you know, his injury and and coming back from a really
58:16bad knee injury. But like, I mean, he was wide receiver six, wide receiver seven in fantasy points per game, like locked in over the last two seasons.
58:23He's very I I think you can make a similar upside bet for Neighbors with a, you know, kind of questionable quarterback play as you can for T. And
58:33Neighbors has just been straight up better than McMillan so far in his career. Uh it's just a really really tricky price, right? Another tricky
58:40price that I cannot get behind is Trevon Henderson. Uh middle of the fifth round.
58:44This is a player I would straight up I would straight up take TJ Moore over Trevian Henderson right now. Our projections are completely out on
58:51Henderson. Uh we're giving a lot more work to Stevenson than most sites are.
58:56And it's still like a 50/50 split. But I just I I don't want to put too much stock in recency bias, right? Like yeah,
59:04at the end of last year, Henderson was clearly like a, you know, 30% 35% snapshare player in this offense. They gave the Vulks to this backfield Ryan to
59:15Raandre in the postseason. But you look at you zoom out and you look at the full sample of last year and you take out the
59:21three games that Stephvenson missed due to injury. Stevenson and Henderson played in 17 games together last year.
59:28Stevenson got 64% of the snaps.
59:30Henderson at 34% and he also got way more carries. But I think the biggest and most surprising thing to me for the
59:36role for for Henderson was Henderson played way more in the passing game. He doubled him up in terms of routes last
59:43year and that's what kept basically Trevon as like an unusable player every single week. And we were just talking through this Jaguars backfield and why
59:52we see this to you know Bashel Tutin pick very similarly. It's not just okay yeah Chris Rodriguez could steal a couple of goal line carries. could steal
60:01a little bit of, you know, early down work, but where the real upside in the backfield is is with those high value
60:06touches in the pass game and the design screen work. Right now, I don't really see a whole lot of like pathway towards
60:13these these types of plays and and routes for Henderson because Raandre Stevenson is so good in the passing game. They trust him in pass protection.
60:22They love him as a pass catcher. And even if they like kind of even out their route shares this year, Ryan, like it's
60:28still we're still going to be talking about Raandre playing like 40% of the pass game routes, it's going to really hurt Trevian's upside. To me, I think
60:36this is like a purely a contingent upside bet if Trevian Henderson were to get this backfield all to himself.
60:42Either based on his own play, let's just say he certainly could outplay Stevenson to a point where he takes over the
60:48backfield or obviously Stevenson gets hurt, then yeah, sure, he's going to blow out this ADP and make me look absolutely foolish, but he's going at 53
60:56overall, Ryan. Like, we can't really project for that. We can't project for Raandre Stevenson just to go away. I don't think this is necessarily a
61:04similar situation as the Lions either two years ago where people were clamoring for Jir Gibbs to play more because he's better than David
61:10Montgomery. Jir Gibbs is just a much better prospect. He's a much better player than Trevian Henderson boys coming out and he had a much better
61:17rookie season. So I just don't think we can make that type of bet. And man, I just I cannot get there with Trevian
61:22Henderson. I I I just can't do it. It's I've had the toughest time ever clicking him this year.
61:29>> Yeah, I'm with you. Uh just to make a couple of comparisons that you touched on there. I agree and I understand like
61:37the reason you're clicking Henderson theoretically is is not median projection. It's it's not like what's most likely to happen. It's what would
61:46happen if Stephvenson got injured or if he outplayed him. Right. Yeah. That sure Henderson has theoretical top five upside if he were to just cast Stevenson
61:55aside or if injury happened, right? But you can make like a more likely version of that bet on just as valuable offenses
62:04in backfields after the place where Henderson goes. Uh we talked about Tutin earlier. I think very clearly Raander Stevenson is a better and more
62:14accomplished NFL player than Chris Rodriguez. So there's a wider kind of path to Tuton for Tuton to just run through it and take over the backfield
62:23than there is for Henderson in my opinion. Uh or alternatively, we we can go uh with like a more boring veteran
62:31type of guy, too. DeAndre Swift is in like a 60/40 backfield in Chicago with Ben Johnson with one Yeah. one of the
62:39most valuable backfields in the league.
62:40Uh Kyle Manungai is a way worse player than Randre Stevenson is. uh if he got injured or if Swift just fully outplayed
62:48him and Manungai fell out of favor, which would not be the craziest thing ever for a day three pick that runs
62:55hard, but I I don't think is like clearly one of the more skilled running backs in the NFL. Like then you you can
63:02make just as good an upside case for Swift as you can for a Trayvon Henderson. And he's more expensive than these guys that I'm talking about. So
63:10yeah, I fully agree here. I have not drafted really any Henderson this off seasonason. It's an offense and a backfield that I feel like I should be
63:20able to buy into. Uh I I think Stevenson where he goes is more appetizing, more palatable. Uh but it Yeah, unfortunately
63:27this backfield's just been priced up so much. Uh especially with Henderson that it's really hard for me to get on board
63:33as well.
63:34>> I think the Stevenson price is completely fair. Like mid70s and ADP, I think that's that's perfectly fine. and he goes right around the Steelers
63:40running backs just ahead. Uh Tony Pard goes just ahead of him. I think that's a fine price. I think Henderson should be
63:46going closer to like the sixth round based on his role. I understand that we're you know we're projecting out upside in terms of like ceiling
63:53outcomes. Henderson definitely has like huge huge upside top. If if Stephvenson were to miss time, man, we would have locked in Trevon Henderson top five or
64:03top six in our rankings every single week. But, you know, I I just don't know if we can necessarily project uh
64:10Henderson taking such a massive leap to that point where he like flips Stevenson in this backfield. I think we're still looking at a split all season long. And
64:18between split backfields, I mean, this is kind of that's the pocket they should be going is that like we're kind of
64:25making a similar type of bet with Darien Price that maybe he's not getting the full backfield workload. Maybe he doesn't play a ton in the passing game
64:33and he goes a full round later. [snorts] Similar to quality of offenses as well.
64:38Yeah, man. I just I cannot get there with Trevian Henderson. Can't do it.
64:41Won't do it. Can't make me do it. You also can't make me draft JK Dobbins. I don't think JK Dobbins has very much
64:47upside left. I think he's basically at this point he's like kind of a like a small win, big loss type of player where
64:55he's going in ADP. Uh he goes about a round after RJ Harvey and I think that's just right. Harvey is the passing down
65:02back in the Shawn Payeyton offense that's basically printed running back receptions for three seasons now. They finished top seven in receptions among
65:10all running backs. Last year JK Dobbins was fantastic on the ground. Like I don't want to take anything away from him. He was awesome on the ground last
65:18season. Uh he's been incredible.
65:21Basically any of the years that he's been able to play like remotely anything close to a like full-time workload. He's been awesome. One of the most efficient
65:30runners in football, but we've been this has kind of been a running theme of this show, right? We weren't really planning
65:35this, but this has been a running theme is these pass catching these non-passcatching running backs just really don't have the access to the
65:41upside that some of you know their peers do. Last year, Dobbins was RB59 by rout route participation rate here at fantasy
65:49points data. I think he's going to be very very blocked when it comes to that between RJ Harvey and Jonah Coleman
65:55coming into the mix this season. Uh Dobbins is going 98 overall and I think if if we were to give him a clean bill
66:02of health and 150 carries this year, he's probably fine at his as like his ADP, you're probably going to be more
66:08than happy with where you got him. But I just I really struggle to see the upside beyond this. And then there's just like
66:15catastrophic downside risks too where like this is a player who's dealt with, you know, so many injuries. You know, four basically four out of the last five
66:23years have been cut short either by season ending injuries or just massive lower body injuries. He could take a significant step back and he's still
66:32going in a range in drafts where the opp, you know, opportunity cost still matters. you know, you'd be taking him as your RB3 or RB4 instead of a really
66:39good quarterback like maybe Brock Pury or uh your first tight end. Maybe you you you don't want to get gooseed on
66:45your first tight end there. Dobbins to me is just a very very low upside pick and I'm only concerned about upside when
66:53it comes to fantasy football running backs. Ryan, >> I'll make part of a counterargument, which is that I think he's fine where he
67:01goes specifically for a zero RB build.
67:04if you're doing this thing where you're layering kind of the maybe like the Bashel Tutin type of bets uh with a JK
67:13Dobbins as like a fairly cheap early season I know I'm going to get points out of this guy type of pick. I fully
67:20agree though that the upside is not there uh on most team builds that are certainly that I recommend people use uh
67:28in fantasy football this year. I just have no interest in Dobbins for the reasons you laid out, right? uh he he is
67:33just hardcapped at mid-range RB2 uh if everything goes right basically. Uh and so like maybe I'd ra I'd rather draft
67:43that super late than uh Javvante Williams where he goes for example. Like I think he's like just a a diminished version of like the Javvante Williams
67:52profile that comes way cheaper. So I yeah most of the time not drafting that.
67:57You have really sold me on R.J. Harvey this offseason. Uh he's going to be somebody that I am targeting as sort of
68:04more like an upside pick in the later or yeah mid to late rounds for running backs. Um yeah, a lot of the stuff that
68:11we've talked about on this show has been very convincing to me in terms of his receiving role leading all running backs
68:17in expected fantasy points per route run. uh just the history of running backs in year one being inefficient on the ground and then getting way better
68:26as players uh or as runners at least in year two. Levian Bell, Christian McCaffrey, a couple examples of that. Uh and then yeah, obviously just the the
68:36contingency value here where Dobbins I don't think benefits at all from an RJ Harvey injury. I I think a Jonah Coleman
68:44or a Tyler Bedet just comes in and catches more passes. I don't think Dobbins ever is really expanding out of that early down role at this point. Uh,
68:51but Harvey we saw literally do that, take on the early down role, keep the passing down role for the most part. He
68:58was a mid-range RB1 by volume in fantasy points per game uh in the five games after the Broncos buy last year with
69:04Dobbins out. I I think it's really clear who has the better contingent value, the better upside in this backfield and it
69:11it's not JK Dobbins, uh, unfortunately.
69:13So, I'm with you in that. Yeah, I'm not really drafting him much. I think where he goes is fine if you are on a team
69:20build that needs the services of a JK Dobbins for the first month of the year.
69:24Uh, but yeah, I guess we're not really disagreeing that much, but just wanted to give that kind of perspective.
69:30>> Yeah. No, I I think you're right. like he he certainly has like a 85% Javvante Williams type season in his range of
69:36outcomes where he gets like I don't know 180 carries 200 carries at the high end and he gets most of the goal line work
69:42and they kind of keep him healthy and keep him fresh with Harvey and Coleman is kind of like the you know young legs
69:47but even then like like you said the contingent upside is a huge factor in this too. I'm just looking at this as
69:52like Rashad White goes I don't know 10 15 picks later in most drafts and he has way more contingent upside both as like
69:59his base case like if he were to if Cory Crosky Merritt for example were to miss time Rashad White could be a full-blown
70:05Bellcow and he's already got the pass down role on lock. So, when it comes to these types of players, like I kind of
70:11want the ones who I know is going to be at least on the field on passing downs where if the, you know, guy behind him
70:17or two guys behind him get hurt, you know, it's just the early down stuff that that's just like basically icing on
70:22the cake at that point in the draft. Uh, Dobbins to me is just I don't know, very very low ceiling pick though. Low
70:30ceiling pick and he certainly could have some like pretty strong RB2 weeks and you'd be happy where you got him like I
70:36said. But yeah, long season long value.
70:38I I really struggle to see a whole lot of upside with this pick in Dobbins.
70:44Ryan, this has been an awesome show.
70:46These are 10 players we have been buying and selling in our drafts, in our leagues going into training camp. We've got some real football action coming
