Justin Herbert

PositiveUsage0:18

The Chargers' new offensive scheme is designed to protect Justin Herbert by prioritizing a quick release, with a target of getting the ball out in 2.4 seconds or less to minimize hits from defensive players. This system shift is expected to facilitate high-efficiency playmaking for his receivers, including Ladd McConkey, by focusing on quick-hitting, line-of-scrimmage-type plays.

Ladd McConkey

PositiveBreakout0:01

The source expects Ladd McConkey to benefit significantly from the new Chargers offensive system, which emphasizes quick-hitting plays and pre-snap motion to generate easy separation and PPR production. The scheme aims to get the ball out of the quarterback's hands in 2.4 seconds or less, creating opportunities for McConkey to make plays after the catch, similar to how the Dolphins utilize Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

0:00Moving to player number four, we've got
0:01Ladd McConkey, the wide receiver of the
0:03Los Angeles Chargers. I just think
0:06getting Mike McDaniel over as the
0:07offensive coordinator is going to be so
0:09awesome for Ladd, and the more I listen
0:11to interviews of people that are at
0:13training camp, kind of watching what the
0:14Chargers are doing, one of the big key
0:16points of Mike McDaniel's is making sure
0:18that Justin Herbert gets the ball out of
0:19his hands very, very quickly. They don't
0:22want him taking shots from defensive
0:23players. They want the ball out in 2.4,
0:26this is the number I keep hearing from
0:27people at camp, 2.4 seconds or less, get
0:30the ball out. So, I think the dudes in
0:32Los Angeles are going to get a ton of
0:35these quick-hitting line of scrimmage
0:37type plays, so like PPR scams and then
0:41go make plays after the fact. Similar to
0:44Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Jaylen Waddle,
0:45it's like get the ball in their hands
0:47quickly and and let them make plays.
0:48That first cut, that first break, you
0:50kind of have a system set up where like
0:52that is when you hit them. It's timing,
0:53it's anticipation, it's do it. We all
0:55know Ladd had a, you know, a phenomenal
0:57rookie year, and I wanted to look at
0:59like the off- ensive system that's
1:00coming in from Mike McDaniel in terms of
1:02what's happening before the snap, cuz I
1:04do think things like pre-snap motion and
1:06that sort of utilization opens up so
1:08much easy separation and so much just
1:10like layup, cheap, free PPR production.
