0:00What is going on everyone? We are back and today it is time to take a look at the week nine waiverwire. Wasn't the
0:09biggest week in terms of huge breakout players that you absolutely need to get onto your roster, but it is undoubtedly the week of the rookie running back.
0:18Several young guys in backfields that have proven they are undoubtedly deserving of roster spots in fantasy football. also several quarterbacks, tight ends, and wide receivers who you
0:29should be picking up this week. We'll get into all of it, breaking down who you should be prioritizing, who is worth
0:34a roster spot moving forward. My name is Michael O'Hara. Let's get right into it.
0:39All right, we'll be going with a little bit of a different format here this week. Instead of going purely position by position, we'll be kicking things off
0:48with what I view as the top five pickups of the week. Then we'll be moving to the rest of the guys. Some guys that you can
0:54consider adding in some deeper leagues, but starting off with Tyler Algier. He is 58% rostered, but I do think that this is important enough of a pickup to
1:05still be included. The NFL, fantasy football, very funny games, man. Last week I was on this show talking about how Algier was someone that you could
1:14reasonably consider dropping because Jeremiah Love was making his return. And even with Love out of the picture, Alier had been in a committee backfield
1:22alongside Bam Knight, but what do you know? Love picks up a new ankle injury in week eight. They say it's unrelated
1:29to the two ankle issues that he previously had. Still have no real indication on what the timeline looks like. We're not going to find out until
1:36Wednesday most likely about what that looks like. I think that he could very easily miss multiple weeks. Sounds like an IR stint isn't out of the picture.
1:45So, just another issue for Jeremiah Love in a rookie campaign that has just been defined by ankle injuries at this point.
1:52It's incredibly frustrating. Personally, as someone who has really enjoyed Jeremiah Love about ready to throw in the towel, but also Bam Knight picks up
2:01a concussion in week eight against the Cowboys. He is now officially in concussion protocol. He is a toss up to play in week nine. Sometimes we see
2:09these guys return. More often than not, they are unable to go. So this could very easily be the Tyler Algier show in
2:16week nine. And in the absence of both Jeremiah Love and Bam Knight in week eight, Algier just runs buck wild all
2:23over the Dallas Cowboys defense. I mean that that was supposed to be Jeremiah Love ripping off all those breakaway runs. Algier had something like two
2:31carries of 50 plus yards. It it was entirely ridiculous. And he tacks on some work in the receiving game as well.
2:37Finishes the day with 36 fantasy points as the featured back in this backfield.
2:42It's going to be tough sledding here in week nine against the Seattle Seahawks.
2:46We saw on Monday Night Football DeAndre Swift have some level of success. He was largely kept in check, but there were a
2:53few runs here and there from him and Roshan Johnson. Obviously, Swift has the three touchdowns as well. Not expecting the Cardinals offense to be able to do
3:01much of anything here, especially on the ground against the Seahawks. Still, if Alier is the only back on the active roster who is healthy and ready to go,
3:10obviously they would call out someone from the practice squad. But if Alier is the only one of Knight, Love, and himself who is healthy, expect him to
3:17function as the featured back, unlike what we saw with Love out of the picture and Knight playing alongside Alir. So knowing what he can do in the receiving
3:25game on top of the 10 to 15 carries we can expect him to get in this spot, there should be enough there for Alier
3:32to be a volumedriven RB2 play for teams that are in need of help at the running back position. Then moving forward if
3:39Lub's absence is multi-week, potentially even long-term, we'll see if they return back to the committee between Knight and Alier in good matchups there. There
3:49aren't that many of them coming up outside of the one against Philly and the one against Washington in weeks 12 and 13. But in some stronger matchups,
3:56even if Algier is in a 50-50 committee alongside Bam Knights, there can be enough there for him to be a viable
4:02starter. So Algier would be the number one pickup, mostly driven by the intrigue that he could be the only back in this backfield and be a volume driven
4:10RB2 play in week nine. The other big name, the one who really pops in week eight. The most shocking storyline of
4:18this of the week was Mike Washington Jr.
4:22He out carries Ashton Genty 25 to 27 in this game. And this is a very complex and difficult conversation to have,
4:32difficult to parse through because there are a lot of ways that you can chalk this up, a lot of ways to explain the
4:38usage for these two running backs. Is it that the Raiders are just simply sick of Ashton Genty being an inefficient rusher
4:46and lacking the big playability that we thought he would have coming into the NFL? Were they giving him a slap on the
4:51wrist for the bulletin board comments that he gave the Jets ahead of this game? Were they simply giving him like a
4:57pseudo rest week after he's been dealing with this foot issue that has seemingly been hampering both his usage and his performance? I think it's more likely
5:05than not a blend of all three. Either way, it's impossible to ignore that they seem to be heading more towards Mike
5:13Washington. Am I expecting this to be a 25-2 kind of split moving forward? Mike Washington truly dominating the backfield rushing work? No, absolutely
5:22not. I think it is something that could be close to a 50/50 split moving forward where Mike Washington is getting eight,
5:29nine, 10 carries a game. That alone does make him worthwhile of a pickup. You can get him into lineups. Just hope he pops
5:36an explosive play. hope he's efficient with that rushing work and delivers a meaningful week in fantasy football. The most significant development though is
5:44that Mike Washington gets every single goal line carry for the Raiders in this game in week eight against the Jets. He
5:51takes all six inside the five carries for the team. He does not convert on any of them and that has been a big- time
5:57talking point in regard to the performance in play of Mike Washington in his first featured game. He doesn't convert on any of them, but this was a
6:04pretty big switch up. forehand. Genty had just dominated the goal line work.
6:09Coming into this game, the Raiders had 11 inside the five carries for their running backs on the season. Genty had taken nine of them. In this one, it goes
6:16six to Washington to zero for Genty. So, if he can maintain that goal line role alongside being a 1A, 1B situation as a
6:24rusher alongside Genty. I do think that there is real standalone value here in this game though. He does remain a zero
6:32in the receiving game. Sub 20% route rate. doesn't earn a single target. We know that Genty is the far superior back
6:38in the receiving game. Washington is never really going to be coming for that work. At a minimum though, I think that
6:44obviously Washington should have already been rostered. He's been featured on the show, featured in the waiverwire write-ups. is a high-end handcuff, but
6:51there seems to be a very clear path now to standalone value if he continues to maintain a firm grip on the rushing
6:58work, even if it's something like a 50/50 split, a 60/40 split, and then could also maintain the goal line work.
7:04Mike Washington Jr. quite clearly among the top pickups this week. The other rookie running back who really showed out in week eight was none other than
7:12EMTT Johnson. Much like Mike Washington, he has been featured on this show. He's been included in the write-ups. He should have already been a priority
7:20handcuff stash at the running back position. We've had reason to be excited about EMTT Johnson all year long. Even dating back to the preseason, he has
7:28quite clearly been the number two behind Kenneth Walker. And in week eight, we get a full show of what things could
7:35look like if Walker were to miss any time. He takes his lone carry for 15 yards. He turns five targets into five
7:42receptions and 128 receiving yards, highlighted by a 70some yard scamper for a touchdown there. EMTT Johnson is the complete package. He can be a threeown
7:53back if Kenneth Walker were to miss any time in college during his time at Nebraska. He functioned as a true threeown bellcow, a real thumper,
8:02someone who also contributed in the receiving game. And in this time, in these limited snaps, these limited touches, we have seen real juice out of
8:10EMTT Johnson. He's forced missed tackles. He's picked up yards after contact. We've seen explosive playmaking ability. Is he going to push Kenneth
8:18Walker into anything that even resembles a committee in this backfield? No, I highly doubt it. Even with him playing well in spots this year, he is only
8:26topped a 30% snap share one time. That came in week one in a blowout against the Denver Broncos. So, I don't think
8:33that there's going to be any real standalone value for Johnson moving forward. Maybe he can carve out some sort of a role as a receiver. We'll have
8:40to wait and see on that because again, he does show some juice, show some promise in the passing game. Still, I
8:47just don't know that he's ever going to be able to push Kenneth Walker to the side to a significant enough degree to
8:52make him worth a start in your lineup as long as Walker is healthy. Either way though, someone who should obviously be
8:58rostered in just about every 10 and 12 person league moving forward. The number one pickup at the wide receiver position on the week is Antonio Williams. Again,
9:08someone who we have been highlighting for multiple weeks now in the wake of the Terry McLaren injury. Yet, his roster ship only comes in at 37%. That
9:16really needs to be higher. It wasn't a true breakout performance for Williams on Sunday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles, but I still think
9:26you saw just about everything that you needed to see to remain optimistic that this guy can become the number one target in the Commander passing attack
9:34moving forward. He led the offense with 28 routes run, leads the offense with seven targets and has five receptions.
9:41Once again, leading the team. Trayon Burks does lead the team from a yardage perspective. If he hauls in a 50something yard reception, he is going
9:49to be this team's field stretcher, this downfield playmaker. So, if he connects on a long ball from Jaden Daniels, he's going to pop here and there. But, I
9:56would much prefer Williams. He is seemingly solidified in a full-time role in this offense. And I think there's reason to believe that he can become the
10:05go-to guy here moving forward, especially in the shallow and intermediate portions of the field. He saw five first read targets, an
10:11encouraging sign once again that they want this guy to be a featured receiver.
10:15He was also moving all over the formation getting diverse usage here in the commander offense. His slot rate came in just below 40%. And you watch
10:25what he did on the field. You see his cutup of the routes that he was running.
10:29He was consistently generating separation, winning on his routes and his reps. Altogether, I I think this was an encouraging performance because even
10:37though it wasn't a big day in the box score, he still shows a reasonable floor. 10.4 PPR points. That's a serviceable day in a deeper league in
10:46your flex spot. I think things can only continue to grow for Antonio Williams here moving forward and they do get some
10:52encouraging matchups here in the near future. The Giants, the Cincinnati Bengals, the Cardinals, the Titans, all teams that the Commanders could attack
11:00through the air. So, I remain optimistic about what Williams can do moving forward. At the moment, he is not much more than a low-end flex play, but
11:09understanding that this is a rookie wide receiver who has shown some juice, shown some promise, and is now just getting ramped up into a featured role in the
11:17offense. I think this is the prototypical guy that you want to stash on your bench and just see what happens down the back half of the year. All
11:24right, closing things out with the top five pickups is rookie running back Seth McGawen of the Indianapolis Colts. We discussed this last week and everyone is
11:34starting to pick up on things. McGawan is now 48% rostered. The Jonathan Taylor trade rumors continue to heat up. It seems like we are barreling towards a
11:44trade sooner rather than later. It has been actually finally reported that the Colts are actively listening and engaging in trade talks. Whether or not
11:52they meet their asking price remains to be seen. Sounds like they want something that resembles what the Carolina Panthers got for Christian McAffrey a
12:00couple of years back. Still, we know that several teams are interested and trade talks are ongoing. If Jonathan Taylor were to be traded, Seth McGawan
12:09is the next man up in this backfield. In the limited usage that we have seen this season, something like 37 carries. It's
12:16not a whole lot, but McGawan has looked effective. 4.41 yards per carry. An explosive rush rate. Those are carries that go for 10 plus yards, a 14.3% and a
12:2745.9 success rate. All solid marks.
12:29Again, the sample size remains incredibly small. McGawan has looked good. It also does come with a caveat that this offense is just crumbling.
12:38They're in a 4-ame losing streak during that time. 14.8 points per game and 4.48 yards per play. They've traded Quinton Nelson. Taylor could be out the door.
12:48Josh DS could be out the door. Things are only going downhill for this offense. But like we said last week, volume is volume. If this guy is the
12:56clear-cut starter in the offense, which he presumably would be if Taylor is out of the picture, he is going to be fed
13:02touches. He's going to be the primary rusher in this backfield. That is a guy who is playable in strong matchups.
13:08Dallas, Miami in the coming weeks. They get Philly, Tennessee in the later stretches of the season. There will be weeks where you're okay with starting
13:17Seth McGawan. Is he ever going to be a top 15 kind of guy in weekly rankings?
13:22That's highly unlikely unless he just randomly emerges as a true stud player.
13:26Still, the end of the day, volume is volume. He is worth a pickup while waiting to see if a Jonathan Taylor
13:33trade happens. If it doesn't, that comes next week. The trade deadline does. If there's no trade, you just cut him right
13:38away. All right, moving over to our position by position breakdown. We'll kick things off as always with the quarterbacks. I think the most obvious
13:46streaming option on the week is Malik Willis. He is in the midst of the best stretch of his inaugural season as a
13:54full-time starter. 20.88 points, 26 points, 15.6 points here in the last several weeks. And against a stout New England Patriots defense, this is pretty
14:04encouraging to see this as somewhat of a floor for Malik Willis. We don't get the rushing work out of Willis here in this
14:12game against the Pats. That is something that we had highlighted the week prior about how his rushing production had ticked up, his scramble rate had ticked
14:20up. Still, we see enough to feel confident about Malik Willis here in an attackable matchup against the Detroit Lions. And the schedule stays favorable
14:30here in the short-term future on the road in a dome against the Colts. A Colts defense that is just on the
14:36downturn, one of the worst in the league this season, and a Buffalo Bills defense that remains attackable and vulnerable.
14:42So, if you lost someone like Lamar Jackson or you're just struggling to figure out a long-term starter for your lineup, I think that you could
14:49reasonably start Malik Willis here in the next couple of weeks. The passing production hasn't ever been great, but it's on the uptick now that we've got
14:57guys like Greg Doulich, Malik Washington, Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell, they're all contributing in the passing game, and we know that in any given
15:04week, he can pop for 40, 50 rushing yards, potentially use his legs in the short area of the field. So knowing that
15:10the rushing work is there, knowing that the passing production is starting to come around, I would feel comfortable with Malik Willis in lineups here
15:17against the Detroit Lions. Once again, a defense that has just not been good whatsoever this year. The other clear streaming option in my opinion is Sam
15:26Darnold. He has not been great. Post an okay outing here on Monday Night Football against the Chicago Bears, 18 points, but he does get the Arizona
15:34Cardinals in week nine. They rank second to last in terms of fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks on the year. And we know that in any given week with JSN
15:44on the field, Sam Darnold can show up for two or three touchdowns, run hot in the red zone and post a solid day in
15:50fantasy football. We saw that in week three in his return. He goes for four touchdowns and nearly 30 fantasy points on the day. But for the most part, this
15:58is a matchupbased play. Not really expecting the Cardinals offense to be able to push back against the Seahawks defense, but knowing that this is such
16:06an attackable defense in the Cardinals, I think you can comfortably get to Sam Darnold this week. The other big one who
16:12will be a pickup for superflex leagues is Gardenner Mchu. He does deserve to be picked up because he is going to be a
16:19starter in the short-term future. I just want to note that he is about to run the gauntlet against the Seahawks home
16:26against the Rams and then on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs. It seems like they are just throwing Gardenner Mincchu to the Wolves as they prepare to
16:34get Carson Beck some starts down the back half of a season that is just entirely lost as the Cardinals need to
16:41make some long-term decisions. I think Mintshrew is worth a look if you're just in a really really bad spot in a
16:47superflex league, but by no means a priority pickup just knowing what the schedule looks like moving forward and as soon as they're comfortable with
16:54Carson Beck feel like he is ready to get into the starting lineup. I think that that time will come rather soon. Think
17:00he could very easily take the field in week 12 against Washington or maybe they wait until week 15 after the buy when
17:07they are at home against the New York Jets. still short-term kind of band-aid type of guy. That could be Gardenner Mchu, but once again, the matchups
17:15aren't particularly strong. Moving over to the running back position, the guy who nearly cracked my top five pickups, but just missed the cut is Kenny
17:24Gainwell. The stuff going on with the Buccaneers these last couple of weeks, it's just been absolutely wild. They have completed seven passes in their
17:34last two games and they have won both games. just one of the weirdest stretches in recent memory in in the NFL. But it's pretty obvious why they've
17:44been able to win these games. It's because the ground game has been absolutely humming. Bucky Irving is in the midst of arguably the best stretch
17:51of his career. But there's only so much work that Bucky Irving is capable of taking on his own with them running the
17:58ball so much and doing so so successfully. They have 582 rushing yards as a team in these last two games.
18:05But because they're running the ball so often, they've had to give some rushing work to Kenneth Gainwell. You see the box scores here in the last couple of
18:12weeks. 14 carries for eight 88 yards, 25 carries for 140 yards. He has been effective individually, 6.2 yards per carry, and then 5.6 yards per carry. He
18:24has been rock solid on the ground as well. Gainwell has built a reputation in fantasy football as a pass catching back. He hasn't shown up with that in
18:32the last couple weeks. Again, they've completed just seven passes, so there just hasn't been any passing volume to go around. Looking ahead though for
18:39Kenny Gainwell, I do think that the Buccaneers recent success on the ground will lead to them skewing more towards the ground game in the coming weeks. And
18:48Gainwell individually has looked good on the ground. So, I think that there will be some rushing work for him moving forward. But looking at the matchup here
18:55in week nine, we all just saw what the Bears did against the Seahawks defense in week eight. We've seen them put up 30
19:02points seemingly at will with Caleb Williams under center. So, this is a matchup that can be very fantasy friendly, a back and forth type of track
19:10meet, if you will. This is a spot where we can see the Buccaneers finally drop back to pass. Kenny Gainwell get some
19:16rushing work along with some real work as a pass catcher. So, there's a lot to be truly evaluated in terms of how this
19:24backfield shakes out, how the Buccaneers offensive tendencies shape up moving forward. I still think Gainwell is worth a roster spot while seeing how things
19:32look once they get into more normal game scripts, but in the short-term future, definitely a fun fantasy friendly matchup on the road against the Bears.
19:40More pass volume coming. I don't think I would want to jam Kenny Gainwell into lineups. Obviously, if you're desperate, he can be played, but I think he's worth
19:47a roster spot while seeing how things look from an offensive philosophy perspective and how they're going to divvy up touches in this backfield
19:54moving forward. The other obvious pickup at the running back position this week is Giants running back Devin Motor Singleary. They are coming out of the
20:03buy are the Giants. They will be without Tyrone Tracy who was placed on IR ahead of the buy. And then Cam Scatteraboo
20:10picked up a hamstring injury in overtime of that week seven win against the Houston Texans. He is reportedly now daytoday according to head coach John
20:19Harbaugh. and during Monday's practice, which isn't official practice. We won't get the injury report until Wednesday, see what Scataboo officially looks like.
20:29But according to beat reporters in New York, Scataboo was on the side working with trainers on Monday during practice.
20:35So, it seems like this hamstring injury is quite clearly still lingering, potentially setting up Devin Singleary for a spot start here against a
20:43Philadelphia Eagles defense that has been surprisingly rather attackable this season. So if Scataboo is out, Singleary easily becomes an RB2 type of guy on the
20:53week. Someone you are getting into your lineup unless you have very very strong assets at the running back position. But even if Scataboo is able to go, I'll be
21:01very interested to see how they deployed these two running backs. Because after Tracy left the game in week seven in the
21:08second half and in overtime, this was a fairly even split between Single Terry and Scataboo. Single Terry recorded a 52.9% snap rate, five carries and eight
21:18routes and two targets. Scataboo was at a 47.1% snap rate, nine targets and four routes for zero targets. So, this was a
21:26legitimate 50/50 committee down the stretch of that game. This does require some context. Obviously, they are adapting to an in-game injury. Now that
21:34they've had multiple weeks to prepare for what this backfield is going to look like without Tracy in the picture, that can pivot pretty quickly. So, I think
21:42Singleary is worth a roster spot because if this is a true 50-50 committee in some favorable matchups like against the Eagles, against the Commanders, against
21:50the Colts that they have here in the coming weeks, Singleary would be a playable type of guy, especially if he maintains the preferred role in the
21:59receiving game. So, I think he is worth a roster spot in deeper leagues. But knowing that Scataboo is potentially going to even miss week 9, I would
22:08definitely just spend a couple of dollars, spend a mid-tier claim in the waiverwire order to pick up Singleary in hopes that you can get a single spot
22:16start out of him here in week nine. All right, in week eight, we saw the prototypical Dylan Samson thesis just play out. In games where the Cleveland
22:25Browns are going to be playing in catch-up mode, Dylan Samson's role is going to grow. It's going to increase.
22:31That is exactly what we saw in week eight. The Browns were trailing by multiple scores for most of the game here against the Steelers. And we see
22:39Dylan Samson take on a more prominent role in this spot. 56.3% route rate.
22:44Sees nine opportunities which includes one carry and eight targets. He turns that into six receptions for 62 yards and has a serviceable day with 12.9 PPR
22:54points. This is exactly what you expect to be getting out of Dylan Samson. he can be an emergency spot starter. Just
23:01hoping that the Browns are playing from behind and Samson can rack up some receptions, be dynamic on those plays because we know that Samson can be a
23:09playmaker. So with those receptions, he's efficient. He pops an explosive play and turns in a decent day in the box. He's just the epitome of a by-week
23:18or an injury fillin for your spot. Just an emergency RB2. You're hoping you can hit double digit points, keep the roster
23:24afloat. That is exactly Dylan Samson.
23:26There's some level of handcuff value here as well. I'm a little skeptical that if Quinn Sean Judkins were to miss time, they would just give the entire
23:34workload to Dylan Samson. Still, he would obviously see an increase in his role should Judkins miss time. But altogether, I think his primary value is
23:42just as a short-term fill-in starter, just hoping he can rack up some receptions in a trailing game script.
23:48And just knowing what the Browns are, who they are as a team, those are going to be coming around more often than not.
23:53I know their record is solid still. This is quite clearly a very bad team. They can easily be playing from behind here
24:00against the Saints, against the Houston Texans, against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Falcons, maybe even the Raiders here. So, there are going to be weeks
24:07where Samson puts together a usable score if you need nothing more than that. Simply a usable score. Pick up Dylan Samson. He can fill in for your
24:15lineup here and there. All right. To close out the running back position, we are going to quickly highlight two stashes. Kaylin Black. He is much like
24:21EMTT Johnson and Mike Washington Jr. He should be stashed as a handcuff in just about every league. We see him get some
24:29extra run in week seven ahead of the 49ers buy because Christian McAffrey was dealing with a hamstring injury. We know Christian McAffy's injury history. We
24:38know that Kale Black is the go-to guy behind Christian McCaffrey. He deserves to be rostered in just about every 12 team league, the majority of 10 team
24:46leagues as well. Someone cut him during the 49ers buy. I would definitely go out there and pick him up. It's even more of
24:52a priority now that McAffrey is officially dinged up dealing with that hamstring issue. Nick Singleton a far lesser priority, but someone who could
24:59get a look in super deep leagues. Tony Pard's name has been all over the trade rumors ahead of the deadline. He has
25:06been looking incredible as well here the last couple of weeks. So, the Titans might actually be able to fetch the draft capital that they are looking for
25:12in a trade for Tony Pard. If he were to miss time, expect Nick Singleton to get some extra run. We haven't exactly seen
25:19that just yet. just seven carries on the year. But if Tony Pard is no longer in the picture and the Titan season is just
25:25entirely lost, which it basically already is, expect Nick Singleton to get some opportunities down the stretch here. So, if you're in a super deep
25:33league, you're just looking for someone to fill out one of your final bench spots. Nick Singleton is definitely a name to keep an eye on. Now, looking at
25:40the wide receivers, we already talked about Antonio Williams, but this is once again your weekly reminder that if Jordan Tyson was dropped in your league,
25:49please go stash him on IR. There's been some rumblings that he could return here in week nine after the Saints buy. But I
25:56do think that at a minimum, he'll be back in week 10 or maybe at the latest week 11. Either way, the return is
26:03coming very, very soon. Coming into the NFL, Tyson was an alpha target earner whenever he was healthy. This is an offense that's going to have a ton of
26:11drop back volume, a ton of play volume altogether. I think he immediately becomes, as soon as he is ramped up, the
26:17number two guy behind Chris Olive. And I think there can even be some weeks when Tyson is running at full speed, full
26:24strength. He can be the number one guy in this passing attack. Not expecting him to fully supplant Chris Olive, but some weeks here and there, I think he
26:31can pop up as the Saints leading receiver. This is a guy who needs to be stashed in literally every league. He
26:36has tons of upside here in the back half of the season. But for guys who are available in the majority of leagues,
26:44Adnai Mitchell pops once again. A lot of folks, myself included, even as someone who has been a huge fan of the talent
26:52that is Adnai Mitchell. A lot of people were writing him off. He's dealing with injury here in the middle stretch of the
26:57year. Misses a handful of games. Then he returns in week seven and is just completely overshadowed by Garrett Wilson and Omar Cooper Jr. Then in week
27:07eight, he reminds everyone that he is very much indeed still a thing, still a very talented player. He turns in nine
27:14targets on the day, good for 29% target share, post seven receptions for 142 yards and a score on the day. Most
27:21encouragingly, he is returning to a near full-time role. Him and Omar Cooper were in lock step in terms of their overall
27:29route number. But Adnai Mitchell is now a near full-time player. 71.4% route rate in week eight. That comes after he ran just 51.5% of the routes in
27:39week seven. So it looks like it was a clear ramp up period for Adnai Mitchell after your returns from the finger
27:45injury. Now he is set to be a featured guy in the offense at least from a routes perspective. The real question
27:51with AD Mitchell is is this consistent?
27:53I mean, we have seen it year after year throughout his NFL career. Mitchell has popped up in spurts, in short-term windows as a legitimate playmaker,
28:02someone who can generate explosive plays down the field. He's just never been able to be that guy consistently. And now running routes alongside Omar
28:10Cooper, who has been efficient and impactful when given the opportunity.
28:13Garrett Wilson, who is among the most established and talented wide receivers in the NFL. Is this something that we're going to see week in and week out?
28:20Obviously not going to see the 142 yards, nine targets each and every week, but something that is usable for fantasy football, something that is impacting
28:28the box score, impacting your lineup.
28:30That is the real question. Can Gino Smith put together and sustain an offense that helps multiple wide receivers, multiple pass catchers get
28:39there in fantasy football on a weekly basis? I don't have the answer to that question. I am skeptical. I am hesitant.
28:45I think that this is going to be an incredibly frustrating wide receiver room, but given the ceiling, given the performance that we he showed in week
28:54eight, he undoubtedly deserves to be rostered. I wouldn't be going buck wild on the waiver wire. Definitely not burning the number one claim, definitely
29:01not using a chunk of fab to bring in Adnai Mitchell, but he definitely deserves to be rostered while seeing how things shake out among these pass
29:08catchers, seeing if maybe someone goes down with an injury, maybe someone is able to emerge as the clear-cut number one or the clear-cut number one and
29:16number two, sending another guy to the back of the pack. Adnai Mitchell certainly has shown enough to be worthy of a roster spot. whether or not you can
29:24get him into your lineup regularly with any level of confidence that the jury is still very much out on that situation
29:30still pick him up this week if you need some upside, need some help at wide receiver. Next up, we've got a trio of
29:36guys who can just be plugandplay guys at your flex spot. Kicking things off with Ryan Florenoi. I have talked about Florenoi in the past. His outlook week
29:44to week is just about as straightforward as they come. It's unpredictable because we know that he can be banished to the
29:51shadow realm by the combination of CD Lamb and George Pickins in any given week show up with just two or three
29:57targets. That is always possible with Ryan Floreno. We have seen him actually draw at least four targets in every single game this season. Still on a
30:05week- toeek basis, we know that he can be a stone cold zero with guys like Lamb and Pickkins alongside of him. But we
30:11also know that this is an offense that is passing the ball at the fifth highest rate in the league and ranks seventh in
30:17scoring. So given the scoring opportunities, given the sheer volume through the air that this offense has seen, he can show up with six, seven,
30:24eight targets in any given week. He can also hit the end zone every once in a while. Both of which can help power him
30:30to a wide receiver two, a wide receiver three finish on the week. And that once again is exactly what we have seen
30:35across the last month. at least 11 PPR points in each of these games here across the last four weeks. And looking
30:42ahead, they get the Colts defense in week nine among the worst defenses in the league. Knowing that the offense is in shambles, not really expecting them
30:51to be able to push back even against a terrible Dallas Cowboys defense. But against a terrible Colts defense, we can still reasonably expect the offense to
31:00be incredibly efficient, moving the ball downfield, generating red zone drives, even if the dropback volume isn't where it typically would be in a week for the
31:08Dallas Cowboys. So knowing that they can be efficient, knowing that the scoring opportunities will be there, I would be comfortable with Ryan Florenoi as a flex
31:17play this week, but still understanding that there is some level of volatility to his week- toeek usage, his week- toeek production because he plays
31:24alongside a duo of such talented receivers. But if you're in a tough spot and Ryan Florenoi is available, I would spend a couple of dollars in your fab
31:32budget to pick him up and just get a short-term start out of him. You could reasonably get a couple of starts out of
31:37him. week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers that projects to be a back and forth type of shootout game. So you
31:42could get two weeks out of Ryan Floyen in your flex if you're dealing with some buys or some injuries there. Similar
31:47story for Deario Douglas. He is someone that you can be comfortable in your flex spot here in the next couple of weeks.
31:54He has stepped up in the wake of numerous injuries within the New England Patriots pass catching court. AJ Brown dealing with a knee issue. We've got
32:02Romeo Dobs still on IR. M. Collins is still on IR as well. Mike Brabel has said that he could return this week, but
32:10that is quite far from a guarantee. And then Hunter Henry goes down with a foot issue in week eight. So Deario Douglas
32:17has stepped up as a result. From a routes perspective, his his role has been incredibly strong as of late.
32:24Across the last month, his route rate sits at 68.1%, but it did top out at 80.8% in week eight. Again, no AJ Brown,
32:32no M. Collins. Hunter Henry leaves early in that spot. So, even as the primary slot guy in this offense, given all the
32:40injuries within the passcatching core, Deario Douglas has shown up and run plenty of routes in this offense. From a volume and target earning perspective,
32:49the numbers are spotty. He's posted good numbers in terms of his fantasy production as of late. You see here, 22.5, 19.6, 16.6. Touchdowns have quite
32:58clearly done the heavy lifting. two touchdowns in week five, one in each of week six and week eight because the volume just hasn't really been there.
33:07His target share is sitting at 17.1% in that four game sample that we have been talking about. That's not a very
33:14encouraging number and we've seen the target total be a little bit lower than you would like to see between three and
33:20eight targets during this four-game stretch. But once again, knowing that there is a very clear lack of target earners alongside Demario Douglas,
33:29knowing that Drake May is also playing MVP caliber football as of late, there's enough there to shoot for the stars, hope that he connects with Drake May on
33:38a couple of big plays, hope that Drake May can carry the offense to a strong performance once again. And here in the
33:43near future against the Packers, against the Lions, they're going to need just about everything that they can get out of Drake May and this passing game. So,
33:50Deario Douglas can be a short-term fill in, but much like Flora, we know that given Douglas's status as anything other than a truly elite solidified target
33:59earner, there's going to be some level of volatility, the floor isn't particularly encouraging, but given the opportunity, given the quarterback in
34:07the offense, I think that you can definitely play Deario Douglas in this spot. Malik Washington, he has been just about as steady as they come this
34:15season. His role is just so consistent and predictable. He's never fallen below a 70% route rate this season and he's commanded at least an 18% target share
34:26in six of seven games this year. He's cracked a 25% target share four times.
34:31As a result, he's eclipsed double digit PPR points in four of his seven games this season. He does feature a limited
34:38ceiling because like we talked about with Malik Willis, there has been an emergence of some other pass catchers in this offense. Caleb Douglas is healthy
34:46and ramping up. Chris Bell can do some things week to week. Greg Doulich can show up for five, six targets here and
34:51there. So, there is a reasonable level of competition that can limit Malik Washington's access to real volume.
34:57Still comfortable with him in lineups.
34:59And the matchup here in week nine and in week 10 and week 11 are frankly all really strong. We talked about it in
35:05reference to Malik Willis. This is a spot where the passing game can get going. And knowing that Malik Washington has played such a consistent role,
35:13knowing that you can reasonably bank on him for five to six, seven targets in a single game, this is someone that is a
35:19floor driven flex play. The ceiling isn't very high because once again, we've talked about the target competition. Some other guys can pop for
35:26a handful of targets in any given week.
35:28And Malik Washington's red zone usage hasn't been very strong. He does show up for a touchdown in week eight, but across the full season, he has just
35:35three inside the 20 targets and just one end zone target. So, the ceiling is definitely capped, but this is very much
35:41a floor driven flex type of play. All right, quickly here before moving over to the tight ends, a couple of wide
35:47receivers that I still think are worth stashing. Kicking things off with Caleb Douglas in his second game back from injury. We see him take on a more
35:55prominent role, right above 80% of the routes. You see here, 86% snap rate. And he draws more volume as a result with
36:03more opportunities, six targets on the day. And going back to the previous weeks, that week seven outing and then the two games before he does go down
36:10with that ankle injury, we've seen Caleb Douglas function as a dynamic playmaker.
36:15We know he can do some exciting things with the ball in his hands. Still not someone that I would want to be trusting
36:21in lineups at the moment, but with the combination of an expanding role and the talent that we have seen put on display,
36:28this is about exactly what you want to see out of a rookie wide receiver. If he can further solidify himself as one of,
36:33if not the go-to target here in a Miami Dolphins offense, he is someone that will start to generate flex consideration moving forward. Definitely
36:41someone that should be stashed in 12 team leagues and in some deeper 10 team leagues if you've got six, seven, eight
36:47bench slots perhaps. Cyrus Allen is a rookie wide receiver who generated a lot of hype in the offseason. A lot of buzzy
36:54training camp clips. Saw him drafted in a lot of leagues this year. He's been a stone cold zero to this point, but his
37:00role is scaling. The Chiefs wide receivers have been incredibly underwhelming to this point in the year.
37:05Xavier Worthy's been a disappointment.
37:07Rashi Rice looks decent in his first couple games back, but still this team is lacking wide receiver talent, so they're scaling up Cyrus Allen. He posts
37:15a season high snap rate by a pretty wide margin at 45%. He does make a pretty nice play in the game as well. someone
37:23who is quite far from being startable at this point, but should be looked at in really deep leagues as an end of the
37:28bench stash, seeing if he can continue to scale up that role and make the most of it moving forward in this Patrick
37:34Mahomesled offense. Finally, Deon Stribbling, another rookie who had a ton of hype coming into the year. He was a top 100 pick in a lot of leagues come
37:43August because of the opportunity that he was going to have in this 49ers offense. That hype train comes to a screeching halt very, very quickly. Week
37:51one, he picks up an ankle injury, an injury that was expected to sideline him for 10 weeks. Well, we are now 7 weeks
37:58from the date of that injury. And he was recently spotted without crutches, without a brace, without a boot in the 49ers facility. So, it seems like he's
38:06trending in the right direction. A return could be coming here in the next couple of weeks to the next month or so.
38:12So, I would be willing to stash him if I have an IR slot, if I'm in a really deep league with a deeper bench and I just
38:18have the space to hold on to Deshawn Stribbling for the next handful of weeks while seeing what his return timeline actually looks like. Because as soon as
38:25he's back on the field and ramped up, he's going to see a healthy number of routes. The only guys outside of Mike
38:31Evans and Debo Samuel are Demarcus Robinson, Christian Kirk, Brandon Cooks.
38:36All these guys who are less than ideal talents, not super big hurdles for scribbling to clear. And Evans and Samuel have been dealing with injuries
38:44of their own as well. They're also on the older side. Samuel's been dealing with the hamstring. Evans has a nagging Achilles issue. So, there's going to be
38:52opportunity for Dejon dribbling as soon as he's ramped up and returns in one of the most potent offenses in the NFL. I
38:58think he's worth a stash, especially if you have an IR slot open. Moving along to the tight ends, the waiverwire landscape at the position is rather
39:07barren this week, but Mike Gasiki is someone who you can roll the dice on and use as a streamer. Every single year we
39:15see a tight end who kind of emerges and becomes a top 12 tight end just because they run hotter than the sun on
39:22touchdowns. That's exactly what Mike Cassiki has done this year. He has six touchdowns. so far on the season. And the interesting part is that Gasiki
39:31actually did see an improved role in week eight. You see there 68% snap share. That is a season high. He also
39:39posted a route rate of 71.7% also a season high. I think that that was driven by two factors. First and foremost, the Bengals have been losing
39:49tight ends left and right. Both Tanner Hudson and Eric All are on season ending IR. So, the Bengals kind of forced to
39:56just trot out Gassiki as a real tight end, not necessarily an inline tight end, but just use him a ton because they
40:02just don't have that many other options at the position. They've got Drew Sample and another guy and Cam Grandandy still.
40:08Gasiki is the primary receiving threat of the bunch and we could see him in a more prominent role with the injuries
40:15that they've been dealing with. But also, and more significantly, Cincinnati was in a back andforth shootout surprisingly with the Titans in this
40:22spot. that kind of game script where they're trading touchdowns. They're going back and forth. They're pushing for 70 points in the game. That lends
40:28itself to Gassiki getting more playing time. So, I'll be interested to see if this snap share, this route participation holds up moving forward in
40:36more traditional typical game scripts.
40:38But, at a minimum, he's a proven red zone threat in one of the best offenses in the NFL. You can gamble on him
40:43hitting the end zone in any given week if he does so. He's going to post a respectable day serviceable as a tight
40:50end streamer. Eli Raren can also be a tight end streamer here in the short-term future. We were talking about it with Demario Douglas. The pass
40:57catching core in New England is just banged up beyond belief. And they have a couple of fantasy friendly matchups in the near future against the Packers and
41:05the Detroit Lions. Potentially a lot of dropbacks for Drake May in those games.
41:09A back and forth matchup. And with Hunter Henry dealing with a foot issue, Eli Rarden could be the go-to starter in
41:16this spot. He did play a full-time role with Henry picking up that foot issue last week. 92% snap share runs a full
41:23complement of routes. He doesn't deliver in the box score, but knowing if Hunter Henry is unable to play, Ryarden's going to be running all of the routes and
41:30running those routes alongside lackluster target competition. So, in a favorable game environment for fantasy football, Rarden can definitely be a streamer this week. Chango, my stance on
41:42Okonquo hasn't really changed. He's never been a true high-end target earner, but games with five, six, seven, eight targets is certainly possible
41:51without Terry McLaren in the mix. And it really hasn't changed because we still see his route rate incredibly high in that week eight matchup against the
41:59Philadelphia Eagles. He was just over 80% in week six ahead of the buy and then comes in just below 80% route
42:06participation in week eight. So, Okonquo looks like he's setting up to be a full-time player moving forward in this Commander offense. He can soak up some
42:15dump offs, some underneath looks, and we even saw him get a little downfield on that incredible one-handed reception that he had against the Eagles this past
42:24week. So, Okono still, in my opinion, firmly in the streaming conversation. We know that he's not going to ice out guys
42:30like Stefon Diggs and Antonio Williams in terms of target competition, but in spots where the matchup is favorable, where we can expect a high number of
42:38dropbacks for Jaden Daniels, you can bet on OK Conquo, use him as a tight end streamer, hope that he racks up enough
42:44volume to deliver a nice little day in fantasy. Terren Ferguson is the last tight end who we will be talking about.
42:50The story hasn't changed. He remains the premier stash at the tight end position if you do not have a solidified starter.
42:57Once he returns to the field, I believe he is the premier candidate to become the number two pass catching option behind Pukanakua in this offense. We've
43:05had two weeks without Devonte Adams in the picture and no one, literally no one, not Tyler Higgby, Kobe Parkinson, Katana Mumfield, Jordan Whittington, no
43:13one has stepped up as the go-to guy behind Nua. That role is for the taking and I believe Ferguson is going to be
43:19coming for it as soon as he is healthy.
43:21And we also do get something of a positive update out of Shawn McVey earlier this week. He says that Ferguson could return to practice. So, not
43:29banking on him being available for week nine, but it seems like the return is going to be coming sooner rather than
43:36later. And if he does make that return in the next couple weeks, two really strong matchups against the Commanders and the Arizona Cardinals. And then some
43:43games with shootout potential in the weeks after the buy against the Packers, the Chiefs, the Cowboys, the 49ers.
43:50Really exciting outlook for Terren Ferguson and a real opportunity on his plate. If your IR slot is open, I would be stashing Ferguson. Even if you have
43:58just a bench spot to burn and you really need help at tight end, he is someone that I would definitely be continuing to
44:04target on the waiver wire as he makes his return. All right, to close things out, we will be looking at the running
44:09backs who can be dropped and all of the players who can be dropped. Emanuel Wilson, easy one. His time as a spot
44:16starter has come to a close with Zack Charbanet and Jadarian Price back on the mix. He does not log a single carry
44:23against the Chicago Bears. He is being sent to the bench with those two back on the field. No reason to roster him
44:29anymore. I think that you can hold on to Elijah Mitchell here in the short-term future. Saquon Barkley is still clearly dealing with the back and hamstring
44:39issues that have hampered him as of late. As a result, we see Elijah Mitchell get some run alongside Barkley in week eight. 57% of the snaps, 11
44:48carries, and six targets is a pretty strong number for Mitchell. So, if you're in a really, really bad spot, I think you could use Mitchell here ahead
44:57of the Eagles week nine buy, but that is about the length of time that he will be a viable fantasy option as soon as they
45:04come back from buy. Saquin is going to become the Bellcow once again. Jaden Blue, they have no intention of using this guy on offense. If you in a really
45:12deep league and you stash Jaden Blue, just drop him. And then the final one will be Marshon Lloyd. He takes a
45:17further back seat to Josh Jacobs in week eight. Just three carries, 16% of the snaps. They want to give everything they
45:25can to Josh Jacobs. Wasn't particularly efficient with it against the Carolina Panthers. But they want this guy to be the bellcow. Even if Josh Jacobs is
45:33suspended or misses time because of an injury, I think that they once again deploy a committee with guys like Marshon Lloyd, Pierre Strong, Chris
45:40Brooks, Caleb Johnson. It's going to be really ugly. the path to Lloyd holding a fantasy viable role. It's just so so
45:46thin at this point. There's just really no reason to hold on to him. Moving on to the wide receivers. I think that you
45:53can obviously drop Kendrick Bourne. He's expected to be out for the year with that ankle issue. Chris Godwin, I mean, I just don't see why people are holding
46:01on to him anymore. I know it's been some wonky games in the last couple weeks.
46:05Once again, they only complete seven passes in their last two games. Still, Godwin has done nothing to show you that he is worth a roster spot at this point.
46:13Not even in consideration for your flex.
46:16He has not cracked double- digit fantasy points a single time this season. It It looks like it's Jover for Chris Godwin.
46:21I know there were some people who are optimistic about him bouncing back here this year. It It's just not looking like
46:27it's going to happen. He's been playing a full-time role. He's just not commanding volume. He's not been efficient with this volume. Unless
46:32you're in a really deep league, there's just no real reason to hold on to Chris Godwin at this point in the year. Darius
46:39Cooper, I mean, we kind of had this one red from the jump. Never was really worth a waiverwire pickup, even though
46:45he's running a ton of routes with Devonte Smith and Dantavian Wick sideline. He's just not a target earner.
46:50He obviously had been running hot on a couple of big plays, three touchdowns in a two-eek span. Just not someone that is
46:56worthwhile on your roster considering the state of this offense. And finally, Kannata Mumfield here. I mean, he he was worthwhile. He's a fine pickup. I was
47:05never getting aggressive with him with Devonte Adams out of the picture. He is just doing cardio out there, and he's not even playing a full-time role.
47:12Again, we mentioned it with Terence Ferguson. No one has stepped up in the wake of Dvonte Adams injury. He is not
47:18worth a roster spot. The role isn't strong. He is not a target earner. Not really expecting anything outside of these ancillary pass catchers in Los
47:26Angeles until Terrence Ferguson makes his return. finally closing things out with Jacobe Lane. It's just over for him, man. That's just the reality of the
47:34situation. He had earned some hype in the offseason. I had been advocating for stashing him with Lamar Jackson set to make his return. But Lamar's toast. He's
47:43done for the year. Poor one out for the Ravens. It's looking like this is a loss season, one that has gone down the
47:48drain. And with Lamar Jackson sideline for the rest of the way, just no real reason to stash Jacobe Lane either. And
47:54moving over to the tight ends, it's the same story for Mark Andrews. He was already kind of teetering on the roster
48:00bubble. I had maintained some level of optimism that he could get rolling when Lamar was back in the picture, but now
48:06it it's over. It's over for him. No reason to roster him anymore. Jake Ferguson, same deal. He is also dealing with an injury. But either way, he has
48:14been seating routes, seating snaps to Brevin Span forward. He has not scored double digit fantasy points since week two. It's just he's not good enough. He
48:23he's not been efficient. He's not playing a meaningful role in the offense. Maybe you can hold on to him in a really deep league, but in your
48:29typical 10, 12 team league, he's just not worth a roster spot anymore. All right, guys. That is going to do it for
48:35me here today. If you stuck around to the end of the video, I hope you enjoyed and I really do appreciate it. If you're
48:41going to take one thing away ahead of the week nine waiver run, go pick up a rookie running back, maybe throw Antonio
48:47Williams in there as well. Not a huge week on the waiverwire, but definitely some moves to be made, some guys who can
48:53help your roster down the stretch this year. Thank you once again. That'll be it from me. I will see you all next
49:00time.
