PositiveUsageOct 21, 2026
Posted 4-65-2 and 7-86-1 receiving lines the last two weeks. The latter performance even included a rock solid 74 percent route rate! Maybe things change now that the Patriots have had time to re-arrange things with Romeo Doubs (shoulder, IR) out of the picture, but at this point fine riding the wave and embracing Super DeMario's booms — at least to this WR3-level extent. After all, the only wide receivers with more PPR points during the last two weeks are Malik Nabers, Puka Nacua, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Matthew Golden! That's it!
PositiveBreakoutOct 21, 2026
Douglas looks like a legitimate breakout candidate. The source notes that while Douglas' name has popped up multiple times in waiver wire columns over the years, 'this time it feels safer.' Drake Maye is performing well, and Romeo Doubs is banged up with a shoulder injury, allowing Douglas to operate as the WR2 in his absence. Douglas saw a season-high eight targets and finished with seven catches for 86 yards and a touchdown in Week 6, following a 4-65-2 performance in Week 5. The Patriots play Thursday in a strong matchup against Chicago.
PositiveRoleOct 19, 2026
Douglas played 100% of snaps in 11 personnel and zero snaps otherwise, posting big numbers for a second straight week (7-86-1 after 4-65-2 prior); his route share reached a season-high 76%, though his playing time remains vulnerable to factors outside his control, including Doubs' health. He is startable as a WR3/FLEX for Thursday's matchup in Chicago (assuming Doubs doesn't play), with a good matchup against a shaky secondary despite potential negative game script.
NegativeRoleOct 12, 2026
Douglas caught four of his five targets for 65 yards and two touchdowns in Week 5, but the slot-only wide receiver had only one other game with multiple receptions this season prior to this and had 10 total targets in Weeks 2-4. A.J. Brown (ankle) could be back soon and while the two play dramatically different positions, New England's pass funnel would start directing to the Pro Bowl wideout when that happens, making Douglas a distant fourth on the waiver-wire pecking order.
NegativeRoleOct 12, 2026
Douglas had a breakout Week 5 with four receptions on five targets for 65 yards and two touchdowns, but his role is at risk with A.J. Brown's ankle injury potentially resolving soon. Douglas is a slot-only wide receiver who had only one other game with multiple receptions this season prior to Week 5 and accumulated just 10 total targets in Weeks 2-4. When Brown returns, New England's pass funnel would likely redirect to the Pro Bowl wideout, and Douglas would fall down the waiver-wire pecking order as more injury information opens additional opportunities across the league.
