Smith is fresh off a strong fantasy performance (23-30, 287 yards, 3 TDs) against Miami's shaky pass defense; his only other good fantasy outing came in an even better matchup (26.0 points vs. Detroit in Week 3). Aside from those two games, Smith is averaging an ugly 11.1 fantasy points per game, with four of those five outings against defenses ranked 21st or lower in QB fantasy PPG. Although Smith isn't close to being an every-week fantasy option, he has another very good matchup this week. The Raiders have allowed the sixth-most passing TDs (16) and fifth-most QB fantasy points this season, with Justin Herbert (Week 2) the only QB who failed to reach 16.5 points against them. Smith's lack of rushing (22-42-0 this season) limits his output, but he's a terrific Week 8 streamer in a "revenge game" against Las Vegas.

Geno Smith is an odd but strong pairing option for managers in deeper (16-plus team) or superflex leagues; he meshes best with Patrick Mahomes based on schedule alignment. You can use Smith in Weeks 1-2 against the Titans and Packers while evaluating Mahomes' return to full strength, then start Mahomes for Weeks 3-4 against the Dolphins and Raiders, then Smith against the Browns during Mahomes' Week 5 bye (the Browns grade as an above-average matchup for a QB despite being well-regarded defensively). In superflex leagues, a Mahomes-Smith partnership can fill one starting slot effectively.
