Gadsden drew one catchless target on 27-of-35 dropbacks (77%). He's a total problem as a run blocker, so his snaps can be reduced as the wide receiver room gets healthier, limiting his fantasy upside.

Oronde Gadsden's target share fell from 25.0% in Week 4 to 3.8% in Week 5 on one target. He tied Kolar in routes run at 79% route participation. The source notes that if you are desperate, you could add Gadsden given all the injuries to the Chiefs WRs, but the Kolar usage makes that feel like a very thin bet and not a long-term solve at tight end.

Gadsden is the clear-cut starter tight end for the Chargers in the short term with Charlie Kolar returning and David Njoku on injured reserve. However, he flopped in Week 3 and can only be viewed as a boom-bust TE2.

The theory behind Gadsden being a viable streaming option for Week 6 is that the Chargers are plagued by injuries at wide receiver (Ladd McConkey active but didn't play due to foot injury; Quentin Johnston missed Week 5 with chest injury; Tre' Harris left with hamstring injury), and the Chiefs have struggled against tight ends (329 receiving yards and four TD catches to TEs in first four games). However, Gadsden himself is the problem: he has 9-86-1 on 16 targets this season and was held without a catch on Sunday despite playing 39 snaps and running 25 routes against the Broncos.

If Ladd McConkey sits, Gadsden at $5,000 is in line for a big share of Justin Herbert's targets against a depleted Denver secondary (cornerbacks Patrick Surtain II and Riley Moss both ruled out); the source notes the projected volume at that price point is impossible to ignore, though he does not feel great about the player.

Oronde Gadsden II is a sleeper at No. 117 in FantasyPros half-PPR flex rankings. He drew 8 targets last week (5 catches, 36 yards), and Denver has allowed opposing tight ends an average of 17.8 half-PPR points over its last two games. The Chargers seemed to walk away from Gadsden a few weeks back, but now that Charlie Kolar and David Njoku are hurt, Gadsden is forced to be a regular player again. He received eight targets in Week 4 (5-36-0), which didn't go far but at least shows the team is trying. It's also possible the Chargers won't have a full-throttle Ladd McConkey at any point this year, which means there's upside to leave a light on for Gadsden.
