Yahoo Sports NFL on Lawrence Keys

Keys is source's top recommendation to replace Kennedy with UFL experience in dynamic kickoff.

Practice squad returner with significant experience returning both kickoffs and punts; recorded 18 punt returns for 229 yards and 39 kickoff returns for 942 yards across two UFL seasons. The source identifies Keys as standing out most on the practice squad list and notes he has recent experience returning in the dynamic kickoff format that the NFL adopted, whereas college-experienced players like Gibbs or Williams have not. The source's verdict is that Keys is 'perhaps the easiest option to replace Kennedy's production as a kickoff and punt returner' and 'the most obvious solution for the Lions.' Keys was re-signed on September 30 and the Lions signed him outright despite no injury concerns, suggesting they like his ability.
