The team has yet to announce the QB pecking order for this week. It's safe to assume Winston will start, with Jake Haener in the mix to be the team's backup, but Harbaugh, as to be expected, did not divulge the plan.

McCarthy joins Giants as backup QB, learning offense behind Winston.

McCarthy was traded to the Giants from the Vikings after being drafted No. 10 overall in 2024; he will serve as a backup quarterback behind starter Jameis Winston, with Coach John Harbaugh still determining the exact depth chart usage. McCarthy has been immersed in learning the Giants offense since arriving, with Harbaugh noting he 'did a good job' with practice assignments and is working 24/7 to absorb the system.
