Player insights

29

A.J. Brown

PositiveRole21:22

A.J. Brown was added to the Patriots offense as a motivated player; described as a key addition that improves the Patriots' offensive weapons alongside Romeo Dobbs. The source believes the Patriots upgraded their offense significantly with these additions.

Insight page

Bo Nix

NegativeProjection30:48

Nix's early-down performance (first and second down) ranks 30th of 34 quarterbacks in success rate and 28th of 34 in completion percentage over expected since entering the NFL, despite being only 24th in average depth of target; these metrics suggest room for improvement with Waddle's addition to the offense.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveRole40:00

Bowers should be healthy this season after being shut down most of last year due to injury; he is a key target for the Raiders offense and his availability will be critical to the offense's success, especially given the weak wide receiver room.

Insight page
NegativeRole46:00

Bowers is mentioned as part of 13 personnel packages the Raiders may deploy, but the speaker emphasizes the overall receiving core is weak and would be a major liability if the offensive line suffers injuries.

Insight page

Cam Ward

NegativeProjection80:14

Cam Ward is expected to throw an interception in week one against the Jets. The source jokingly suggests this is almost a certainty given the Jets' historically bad interception luck (zero interceptions in 2024, the first team in NFL history to achieve this).

Insight page

Courtland Sutton

NegativeRole31:40

Sutton was previously unreliable in the Broncos passing game, but the addition of Waddle should help open up the offense and provide more consistent receiving options; Sutton's role may improve with better offensive weapons.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

PositiveBreakout55:45

Moore, 29 years old and declining, is brought in by the Bills with hopes that a change of scenery with Josh Allen can rejuvenate his career and help unlock an offense that lacked explosiveness; the speaker is cautiously optimistic about his potential impact.

Insight page

Darren Waller

NegativeRole46:00

Waller is mentioned as part of the Raiders' receiving core in the context of 13 personnel packages, but the speaker notes the overall receiving core is "terrible" and would be a major weakness if injuries strike the offensive line.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection65:09

Drake May led the league in completion percentage with the highest average depth of target; ranked number one in EPA per dropback; improved from 30th in tight coverage throws to second; led the league in explosive play rate. Despite a horrendous playoff performance partly due to offensive line issues, May had one of the best completion percentage over expectations in NFL history in the regular season.

Insight page
NegativeProjection68:50

Drake May was horrendous in the playoffs; part of the issue was the offensive line, but it showed that his regular-season performance doesn't necessarily translate in the postseason when teams make coverage adjustments. This raises questions about whether his elite regular-season metrics will hold up under playoff pressure.

Insight page
PositiveProjection74:29

Drake May's rushing touchdown total is set at 3.5 for the regular season, which the source believes is too low. Even with the addition of A.J. Brown and Romeo Dobbs, the source expects May to exceed this projection.

Insight page

Gardner Minshew

NegativeProjection45:00

The speaker expects Minshew to start for the Raiders but not last long; they project he will struggle for a few weeks before being replaced by Mendoza, citing concerns about fit and performance.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

PositiveUsage76:19

Garrett Wilson didn't catch a pass after week six but still led the Jets in receiving yards last season. The source expects Wilson to be healthy this year and benefit from Geno Smith's arm talent, suggesting his receiving props might be undervalued.

Insight page

Geno Smith

NegativeRole75:33

Geno Smith was brought in as the Jets' quarterback after a terrible year with the Raiders. The hope is that he gets more protection this year with the Jets' improved offensive line, which stayed healthy last year.

Insight page

Jakobi Meyers

NegativeRole41:50

Meyers' role in the Raiders offense remains limited given the wide receiver room is still weak; the team will likely emphasize multiple tight ends and heavy personnel in the Kubiak offense rather than relying heavily on outside receivers.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveRole31:00

Waddle is a massive addition to the Broncos offense; Denver was 25th in drop-back success rate last year, and Waddle will help open up the intermediate and over-the-middle passing game, addressing a key weakness. The addition is significant because the Broncos couldn't previously trust receivers like Sutton in the passing game.

Insight page

Josh Allen

PositiveProjection56:35

Allen has been the number one quarterback statistically in the playoffs since 2020; the Bills' playoff losses have not been due to Allen's performance but rather defensive breakdowns allowing 33, 32, 27, 27, 42, and 38 points—never fewer than 27. The new aggressive defensive scheme under Jim Leonard is designed to address this weakness.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

PositiveRole40:45

Jacobs should benefit significantly from the Raiders' offensive line upgrades and new Kubiak-style run-heavy offense; the team averaged only half a yard before contact last year due to offensive line dysfunction, but with Tyler Linderbaum and Colton Miller upgrades, the run game should improve dramatically.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

PositiveRole21:00

Herbert is expected to return to the Chargers after missing most of last year; getting him back is a major positive for the offense alongside the addition of Mike McDaniel as offensive coordinator.

Insight page
PositiveProjection28:41

Herbert should have opportunity to exceed passing yard projections given the aging Chargers defense and struggling offensive line; available at 3,500+ or 3,600+ passing yards, which represents value if he stays healthy and plays all games.

Insight page

Kirk Cousins

PositiveRole40:00

Cousins shined under Kubiak in 2021, providing familiarity and comfort in the Raiders' new Shanahan-style offense; he will start the season for Las Vegas before potentially being replaced by Mendoza later.

Insight page

Malik Willis

NegativeRole84:09

Malik Willis was brought in as the Dolphins' quarterback in a complete roster overhaul under new head coach Jeff Halfley and offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik. The source expresses uncertainty about Willis's fit and the overall Dolphins roster construction.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

NegativeInjury6:33

Mahomes is expected to be healthy and available for week one, though he's recovering from an injury that may impact his mobility early in the season; the team is assuming he'll play the majority of games this year, if not all of them.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeRole0:54

Rice's role and usage in the Chargers offense remains uncertain given the offensive line struggles and overall offensive dysfunction; the team's focus will be on establishing the run game and play action rather than heavy passing to receivers.

Insight page
NegativeRole13:43

Rice is flagged with concerns about staying healthy and staying out of jail; there are questions about his availability and reliability for the Chiefs offense.

Insight page

Romeo Doubs

PositiveRole70:03

Romeo Dobbs was brought in as a nice addition to the Patriots offense that people don't give enough credit to but can be really helpful. The source believes Dobbs can meaningfully contribute to the Patriots' offensive improvement.

Insight page

Travis Kelce

NegativeProjection10:15

Kelce is described as bordering on completely useless; he had 76 receptions last year over 17 games, and at an under of 66.5 receptions, the projection is only four receptions over 17 games, which could get closer to five or six if he misses games due to injury. The expectation is that a higher run split with Kenneth Walker will reduce targets across the board, including for Kelce.

Insight page

Tyron Johnson

PositiveDepth Chart42:20

Johnson is being brought in to play nickel for the Raiders, addressing a major defensive weakness; the team had no reliable nickel last year, with Greedy Williams even playing the position late in the season.

Insight page

Xavier Worthy

NegativeRole14:00

Worthy is flagged with a health concern; there's a question about whether he can stay healthy this season.

3:07And we are underway! What's up, Degenerate Nation? Welcome to the Action Network Podcast, presented by DraftKings.
3:13This is the NFL Off-Season Divisional Preview Part 1.
3:16I'm stuck in joining me today is my fellow co-host and good friend, Evan Abrams.
3:21We will be going through the AFC West and AFC East today.
3:25We'll have four preview episodes covering two divisions each.
3:28I'll actually be doing all these previews with different people.
3:31As I'm sure most of you have heard by now, Raybon, my guy Raybon has moved on.
3:36I'm going to miss him. We did this for eight years, seven years together.
3:41And he killed it. I wish him well. But all good things must come to an end.
3:47And we open a new chapter in the Action Network Podcast.
3:50More news to come on what the regular season will look like.
3:54It's going to be similar, just obviously with a different co-host.
3:58But doing these two with Evan, I'm doing two with DeBundo, an old friend.
4:02I'm doing my division, the AFC North with the Ravens, and his division with the Colts later today.
4:08Probably bring in Kerner, maybe Brandon Anderson, to do the NFC early next week.
4:13You're probably listening to this on a Monday. So super excited for the NFL season.
4:18And I'm just ready to go. I'm ready for games to start.
4:21I hope everyone's been enjoying the preseason and hard knocks.
4:25And make sure you check out Big Bets on campus for all the college football coverage.
4:30We've now covered all 138 teams. Evan, how goes it?
4:33Unbelievable. I was going to say, I'm going to make you start comparing some of these NFL teams to college teams.
4:40Because I feel like you have to start moving down that road slowly.
4:44I can't just push you over to the NFL.
4:47But happy to be here today. Happy to have you here today.
4:51Looking forward to these divisions, honestly. AFC West, AFC East.
4:54It was fun going through the eight teams and trying to get here.
4:59I think I have more to say on the AFC West, but some more fun bets in the AFC East.
5:05So it's going to be a fun little episode.
5:08Let's start with the AFC West. It's a fascinating division.
5:11And look no further than the odds to win the division.
5:15You have the Chiefs at plus 160 at DraftKings.
5:18The Chargers at plus 190. The Broncos at plus 225.
5:21And the Raiders all the way down at 20 to 1.
5:25So you have three teams that are power rated in the market pretty similarly.
5:29And are all around 2 to 1 to win the division.
5:33Let's start with the favorite, the Kansas City Chiefs.
5:36Off of a 6-11 season in which they went an uncharacteristic 1-9 in one possession games.
5:41Including 1-6 in games decided by 3 or less.
5:44That was a complete 180 from the year before.
5:47And from previous years where the Chiefs seemingly won every single close game.
5:51It didn't help that opposing kickers went 31 of 32 against them.
5:55Especially with all those close games. And Buckner wasn't his normal dominant self.
5:59I will say, however, not everything was unlucky for the Chiefs in 2025.
6:04This is a team that went 24 of 32 on fourth down.
6:07And it's a team that doesn't sneak the ball.
6:10And wasn't a great rushing attack. That's 75%. Their opponents went 6 of 23.
6:15That's 26%. They also only lost 3 of 17 fumbles.
6:18So there were some luck that factored into their season.
6:22But obviously you don't expect them to go 1-9 in one possession games again.
6:26Their win total is sitting at 10.5. Juiced to the under.
6:30Evan, like this team has... Look, Mahomes, you have some...
6:33It seems like he's going to be healthy. But he's obviously recovering from an injury.
6:38We'll see if that impacts his mobility. Especially early on.
6:41But this team just seems like it's headed in the wrong direction from a roster perspective.
6:46I mean, you lost McDuffie and Watson from your cornerback room.
6:50You also lost Cook at safety. So your secondary is significantly worse off.
6:54And it's not like you have a dominant pass rushing group.
6:58Chris Jones is a year older. Right? He's 32 now.
7:01Now you do bring in Kenneth Walker. And the hope is that Kenneth Walker can rejuvenate this rushing attack.
7:07I mean, he's going to bring an element of explosiveness that they've simply not had.
7:12And then hopefully that opens up the offense for Mahomes and company.
7:16An offense that's been trending down for the last couple of years.
7:20Their offense was 8th in DVOA before the Mahomes injury.
7:23But they still were 6-8. It's not like that.
7:26I know they've lost a lot of one-possession games.
7:29But it's not like this offense was completely flawless.
7:32What are your thoughts on this Chiefs team? Like, the easy thing to say is like, look, they lost a ton of one-possession games last year.
7:41They're probably going to win a lot of one-possession games this year.
7:44And that might be the case. What are you seeing here?
7:48Well, yeah. I mean, you kind of also left out the fact 11-0 in, I believe, one-score games a year before that.
7:55So to have that turn around year-to-year is just absolutely ridiculous.
7:59And then what to expect in this year, I think, is a little bit harder.
8:04I agree. The roster definitely hasn't been upgraded probably enough to warrant the win total.
8:09But the win total also sitting there based off of pedigree mostly.
8:13I mean, KC hasn't gone under in consecutive years on their win total since 2011-12.
8:17So if you have any type of downturn, they end up basically coming back to where expectations are the year after.
8:24So, I mean, that's what I think people are thinking with Kansas City.
8:28I mean, we're assuming Mahomes will be out there week one.
8:32And barring anything else happening in the future, he should play the majority of games this year, if not all of them.
8:39And I think that's probably what KC expects and that's what the win total looks like.
8:44I think the Mansour Delane, Peter Woods, like I think they're trying to get better on the defensive side of the ball,
8:52which should make it easier on Mahomes. And I kind of like the running back move.
8:57I mean, obviously, getting rid of the guys in Pacheco and Hunt I think is good and it was time to move on there.
9:05And I think Walker is going to give them something that they haven't had with Mahomes, which is something that is a reliable back.
9:13And I think it's important. So I see and I think the one other move, the enemy for Nagy, you know, we've
9:20seen what happens there in the past when he's in that system and I think he's good for them.
9:26Obviously, Nagy kind of didn't work out. So to me, that's a big one as well.
9:31The other one I'll look at and I just have a stat here, which is just basically average opponent win total.
9:38First four weeks of the season, Chiefs 6.75, which is the easiest in the NFL.
9:43Obviously, they have Denver at home, but Indy and then you get your two games for the reason why that stats there, which is Miami and the Raiders.
9:52So tie for the third easiest schedule first nine weeks.
9:55I just think they have an opportunity to start fast in this division that, again, has three real serious contenders.
10:02The other one was, and I'm curious, you know, you look into the offensive line ratings maybe a little bit more than
10:09I do, but with Jalen Moore there and Taylor out, like what do you think about that?
10:15Because that was one real difficulty when Mahomes was actually in the lineup.
10:19Yeah. I mean, the hope is that one, you get your wide receivers stay healthy.
10:24I mean, it still seems like they, I mean, look, Kelsey is, he's bordering on just completely useless.
10:30That's part of my bet in this team. I agree.
10:33Yeah. And then, like, I know the enemy coming in, it's still like Reed's play calling, but maybe they just completely abandoned motion and plan.
10:41I think he's going to help, though. I think it's going to be a nice upgrade, a nice boost to the system.
10:48I agree. That's my thought. The locker room seems to like him.
10:52He brings energy that I think that they could use.
10:55But the hope is that they can get an improved running game and then improve tackle play.
11:01So you hope that Simmons, who showed flashes as a rookie, takes the next step.
11:06And it appears that Benson, the undrafted rookie out of Indiana, is trending towards starting at right tackle, if you can believe that, over Jalen Moore.
11:14So, you know, if they can, he takes the next step and Benson ends up being an upgrade over Moore, who's not great.
11:22You know, you're confident in your interior as long as you stay healthy there.
11:26It's still not going to be an elite offense.
11:29I have more questions about the defense. I just think that – and look, one of the things that the Chiefs –
11:36this offense needs to be really good for them.
11:39Because what happened last year is their offense not only fell off a cliff, it fell off a cliff early on.
11:46Like they used to get out to leads. And what happens when you get out to leads in Kansas City?
11:53Then Spaggs' defense takes over. And the Chiefs – I mean, you look at that pass rushing group, it's not like you're overly enamored with anybody.
12:01Outside of Chris Jones and the interior of Karlaftis at times.
12:05But they led the league in pressure rate in known passing situations.
12:09So – but they just – they weren't getting those leads like they used to.
12:14And that defense is just not going to consistently generate pressure without schematic help from Spaggs when he knows you're going to throw.
12:21And then he's bringing exotic stuff, changing things on the back end.
12:25And now you lose McDuffie, Watson, and Cook. And you're replacing them with – I mean, a rookie.
12:31You need Mansell or Delaney to be like almost at an all-pro level.
12:35That's what they're hoping for. And that doesn't happen very often with a corner.
12:40And, you know, he had a great year at LSU.
12:43And he has traits. But it's – you know, at Va Tech, he was hit or miss.
12:49I'm not sure he's that player right away. Noel Williams, he flashed at points last year.
12:54But his best games came against Cooper Rush, Russell Wilson, O'Connell, Nix, and Hurts.
12:58And that broken Eagles. He really struggled against some of the better offenses that he faced.
13:04And I don't know if you really improved elsewhere.
13:07Like your safeties, I think, are worse off. Maybe R.
13:10Mason Thomas can come in and give you a spark in the pass rushing department.
13:15Norman Lott comes back from injury. He's still dealing with an injury.
13:19And it looks like Roland Wallace is going to win the nickel job.
13:23I'm just not overly wowed by this defense, which was number one in health last year.
13:28And if they have injuries, the depth is pretty scary.
13:31So asking this team to get to 11 wins – It's a lot.
13:36Yeah. It's a lot. With all the questions I have on defense and offense that just – and like your receivers that
13:43you're counting on, can they even – like it's worthy.
13:46Can he stay healthy and stay out of jail?
13:49I mean, I'm sorry, Rice. Can Rice stay out of jail and stay healthy?
13:54Worthy? Can he stay healthy? You know, Thornton has been – his flash is a deep threat at times.
14:00But Kelsey's declining. There's still questions at tackle. And I think that the defense just now takes a big step back, even with Spag still there.
14:08So I still think that this is just like built in almost like pedigree in Mahomes.
14:13I project them at 9.7 wins. So at 10.5, it's under or nothing for me.
14:18The only thing I'm worried about is it would be so Kansas City to just go like 10 and 2 in one
14:26possession games and finish 12 and 5 this year.
14:28But it's under or nothing for me. And by the way, their defense, which is the healthiest defense in the league last
14:36year, loses all their best players in the secondary.
14:39Their schedule from a defensive perspective gets much tougher.
14:42And yeah, they finish third in the division, but it's not really that much of a reward.
14:47Because look, the Broncos finish first and the Chiefs finish third.
14:51Here's the difference in their schedules. The Broncos get the Steelers, Jags, and Panthers.
14:55The Chiefs get the Falcons, Colts, and Bengals. Yeah, not that different.
14:59Yeah, like there's not that much difference there. And then you add in the potential for Mahomes to maybe not be 100% healthy.
15:07Now, the good thing, as you mentioned, easy schedule early, then a bye.
15:11So if Mahomes, you know, if he's still dealing with something, if it takes him a little bit to start ramping up
15:18and it takes Spag some time to like figure out this defense.
15:22After all, the turnover in the back end, you do have a nice runway.
15:27You don't have faith in Justin Fields? You don't think he could come in and take over the job?
15:33Maybe he can come in and do quarterback sneaks on their fourth and shorts.
15:37I also, the one thing I'll mention is that, two other things I have.
15:42Their non-divisional road games are pretty brutal. Yeah. And then you're going down to Miami early.
15:47You don't want to go down to Miami early when they have like the humidity and the sun.
15:53And like, that's when Miami can pick off. Now, Miami's going to be really bad.
15:58We'll talk about them in a bit. And then the other thing I'm shocked you didn't mention, Chiefs home-unders the last three years.
16:05Will that continue? 19-6 home-unders. I don't think that continues.
16:09The defense, like you said, I think it's going to be a little porous, a little Swiss cheese.
16:15So I think they're going to allow more points than they have before.
16:19And it's going to frustrate the hell out of the team.
16:22But that's me. Yeah. I mean, yeah, as you mentioned, Watson McDuffie, Cook, also Chennau, Omenohu.
16:28These are guys that have been mainstays the last four years of this Spags defense that understood it so well.
16:34And, you know, you're going to be relying on a lot of young guys to step up.
16:40You bring in Aloha Gilman on the back end, who's like a very high floor guy that can play free safety.
16:47But other than that, you're confident about the linebackers and Chris Jones.
16:50But like I said, he's not getting any younger.
16:53And I just don't know if that other edge spot is going to be FAU.
16:58I have a lot of questions there. So it's very interesting.
17:02In the AFC, there's a lot of these teams that are quarterback-driven that three or four years ago, you just penciled them in to the AFC.
17:10Division round to the conference. Well, the Chiefs always the conference championship.
17:14But over the past couple of years, their rosters have all gotten worse.
17:19And then these mid-tier AFC teams have kind of risen up.
17:22And the league has started to shift away from like spread it out, pass happy.
17:27We're ever going heavier personnel. And these quarterback-driven teams now are starting to fall off.
17:32And these other mid-tier teams are rising up. And that's why you've seen the Chiefs, the Ravens, and the Bills potentially coming down toward the pack.
17:40Fortunately for the Chiefs, they got their rings. The Ravens and the Bills, did they miss their chance?
17:46It's under enough. I'm probably going to end up playing the under just because I have so many questions with this team and especially on defense.
17:55The only two bets here I was looking at, Chiefs under three and a half division wins is plus 120.
18:01I think that's an interesting way to play them.
18:04They can lose to the Raiders once and then they know we have trouble.
18:09If they're not as good, put the Broncos and Chargers.
18:12And then honestly, I was looking at Kelsey under 66 and a half receptions.
18:17I think it's intriguing. He has 76. But he had 17 games last year.
18:21I think there's a chance he could get nicked up this year and miss a game or two.
18:27And the number right there is like four receptions over 17 games.
18:31You start missing games, it's starting to get closer to five and six.
18:35I think that number is a little inflated. So those are my two looks.
18:40Yeah, the other thing working in your favor there is that you would expect that this Chiefs team now, which has been
18:47so pass heavy, might have a higher run split now that they brought in Kenneth Walker.
18:52And they're probably going to lean more on the run this year, which is going to reduce targets all across the board.
18:59So, yeah, I don't hate that look either. All right, let's move on to the Los Angeles Chargers.
19:05Win total nine and a half, juice to the over.
19:09This is a team last year that enjoyed success in one possession games, unlike the Chiefs.
19:14They went six and two in one possession games, four and one in games decided by a field goal or less.
19:21Over the past two years, and look, betting against Harbaugh to go under, he seemingly wins double-digit games every single year.
19:27But he's gone 11 and six, first two years with the Chargers.
19:31The first year, they beat one playoff team. It was the Broncos.
19:35Last year, they beat three playoff teams. They went three and three against playoff teams.
19:40And their wins were over the Eagles, the Broken Eagles, the Steelers, who were the worst playoff team, arguably.
19:46And then the Broncos again. So, they've beaten two playoff teams, not named the Broncos, over the past two years.
19:53And it was the Broken Eagles and the Steelers.
19:56So, their schedules have ended up breaking their way.
19:59It's going to get much tougher this year. Their dead last in net rest, I think that tends to be a bit overrated.
20:06But it's one of the five worst negative net rest disadvantages since 1990.
20:11They play four opponents off of buys, two off of mini buys.
20:14And of those six teams, five of them are projected playoff teams in the AFC.
20:19So, they could be huge swing games and they're some of your most difficult opponents.
20:24Their non-divisional road games, pretty brutal. So, Buffalo, Seattle, Rams, Ravens, Bucks, and Dolphins.
20:29And like I said, they only beat three playoff teams last year.
20:33One, the year before, they're projected to play 11.
20:36Plus at Tampa Bay, it was like a coin flip to get in.
20:40So, this schedule on paper is going to get much more difficult.
20:44Now, things to like about this Chargers team going into the year, why I was bullish at first just thinking about them,
20:51is, all right, you go from Greg Roman to Mike McDaniel.
20:55One of the smartest, most respected offensive minds in the NFL, no matter what you think of him as a head coach.
21:02I mean, this guy was just, I think, born to be a great offensive coordinator.
21:07And then you say, okay, we're going to get our stud tackles back, who basically missed the entire year last year.
21:14And the offensive line fell apart. It was completely broken.
21:17Let me tell you about the Chargers offensive linemen last year that had the most snaps.
21:22Zion Johnson, he's now with the Browns. Bradley Bozeman, their center, one of the worst years for a center in NFL history.
21:29He retired. Aki Becton is a free agent. Trey Pipkins is going to be a backup here now, and not even the swing tackle.
21:37Austin Dekulis, one of the worst tackle seasons of all time.
21:41He's now a backup in Tennessee. Bobby Hart, who's now a Seattle fourth string tackle.
21:46And Jamari Salier, who's a Dolphins third string tackle.
21:48I mean, that is as bad as it gets.
21:51So you say, all right, we're going to get Mike McDaniel, upgrade and play calling.
21:56We're going to get our tackles back. But now there's questions about that offensive line because, okay, you're going to have your tackles back.
22:04But now Slater is already dealing with injuries. They don't know if he's going to be ready.
22:10And there's just a lot swirling there. So maybe he's not ready to go.
22:14At least you will have all. But then you look at the interior, which was a disaster last year.
22:20And you were like, okay, we'll bring in Tyler Biotish.
22:24He's a pretty good center. Our guards aren't going to be great, but we'll have two great tackles and a great center.
22:31And we'll have McDaniel. And you can expect better things from this offense.
22:35Well, Biotish is probably out for the year. So what does that mean?
22:39You're going to, Jake Slaughter, their rookie, is probably going to start at center.
22:44And I'm not sure that he's fully ready. And what makes that even worse is you potentially have a rookie center playing
22:51next to two very questionable guards in Cole Strange.
22:54Cole Strange, who has just never been good. And Awashika, who hasn't even won the job yet.
23:00And one of the troubling things is Slaughter, who they were going to play at guard, hadn't even won the job.
23:06And Awashika hasn't won the job either. He's never been great.
23:10This Branson Taylor, who was on the practice squad last year, might win it.
23:15But regardless, your interior now is banking on a rookie center who didn't look good in the preseason last night.
23:21And I'm not sure that he's ready. And you're not going to...
23:25When you have a rookie center, which is rare, usually it's like a first-round draft pick.
23:30And it's rare that they start. It happens like three or four times over the last five years.
23:36But a lot of times you'll have some reliable guards around you to help out.
23:41When you have weak guards and a rookie center, and now your tackle is potentially banged up and not healthy.
23:48So now it's potential doom and gloom again for this offensive line.
23:51The defense was very good under Mike Minter, who you lose.
23:55And if you just look at the defensive roster, it's not overly talented.
23:59And it's an aging defense. I mean, based on my numbers of where players are going, if you have a cornerback who's
24:06about to hit 30 or over, there's different ages for when players hit a cliff and then you see their production start to fall off.
24:15The Chargers have six players at the age risk level at their positions, and they're all on defense.
24:21So it's an aging defense at a number of positions.
24:24It's not overly talented. And how much of what they were doing was Minter and his scheme and adjustments.
24:30Now they bring in Leary to be the new defense coordinator.
24:34He was at Western Michigan last year. He was with Minter and the Chargers before then on the defensive staff.
24:40He's going to try to run the same thing as Minter did.
24:44But you lose that brainpower in the locker room on game day.
24:48How much of a drop-off is that? So I wanted to really like this team.
24:53But the offensive line, now that I don't know Slater's going to be healthy and they lost Viotic, this could just be a disaster again.
25:01And then the internal pressure could ruin everything that McDaniel's trying to do.
25:05What are you seeing here with the Chargers? Yeah, you took it.
25:09I don't need to repeat everything you said, but you kind of nailed it.
25:14Issue 1A and 1B. It's offensive line and defense.
25:17And there's a multitude of different ways to probably look at both sides of this.
25:22But let me just go down the list of some of my things.
25:26Let's talk about the win total for a second.
25:29So obviously, Harbaugh, as you said, has done a fantastic job.
25:32He's 5-1 to the over. Chargers, 49ers. And it's 3-0 when he's under and win total of 10.
25:38So without those expectations, he tends to do a great job.
25:42The one funny thing about the Chargers, I love this stat.
25:45Last 20 years, here's the highest average win total by teams that haven't won a Super Bowl in that span.
25:52Chargers, number one at 9.2. Then the Cowboys. Then the 49ers.
25:56So expectations have always kind of been there with this team.
25:59And they've never been able to figure it out, no matter who's at the helm.
26:04I think the interesting thing here is the sacks last year.
26:08And I looked up this stat, which I thought was intriguing.
26:11So obviously, Herbert hit a ton last year. Also sacked a ton, 54 times.
26:16So only six other quarterbacks were sacked more than 50 times on a team who won 11-plus games.
26:22So he got sacked a ton, and they were still able to figure it out.
26:27All six won fewer than 11 games the next year.
26:30One QB never even started again. The other five QBs averaged to miss like five and a half games the next season.
26:37I think there's something interesting to that. Like, the offensive line already a mess.
26:42Are they going to be able to figure it out?
26:45I think it's still in the air. So if I were to do anything, at least initial look, yeah, I wanted to like the Chargers too.
26:53But I think the under is probably the right call.
26:57Let me hit one more thing. So you talked about the net rest.
27:01I agree. I think it's a little overrated in terms of the way we talk about it this time of year.
27:08But also, minus 24 net rest is actually kind of just ridiculous in that sense.
27:13I looked at eight teams minus 20 or worse since 2002.
27:16Three and five to the over. So yeah, there was like a lean to the under on those teams.
27:22But I will say this. It is interesting that all three overs in that case were by a win or less.
27:29So the unders had some space. The overs were really, really tight.
27:33So that's kind of the way I look at the Chargers.
27:37Like, I wanted to like them as well. But then I looked at, you know, facing the Chiefs, no matter what we
27:44think about them, facing the Broncos and their other games in their division, outside division, aren't exactly easy.
27:50So I think the right move initially before I get into like a better two here would be Chargers under.
27:56Doubting hardball is tough. I mean, the guy just finds ways to win in the regular season.
28:02Has he ever won fewer than 10 games in the regular season?
28:06He might have won nine. But either way, it's like nine or more the entire time.
28:11Yeah. Yeah. And he also, he covers. He is 59-36-3 ATS.
28:1562% regular season. One of the best coaches in that spot.
28:18500 ATS or better. First four games each of his six years in the NFL.
28:23Like, starts well. Finishes well. Everything you got to like about it.
28:27I do think you mentioned it, like the minter out the door, I think is absolutely massive and could have an impact with an aging defense.
28:35So one of the props I'll even tell you I kind of liked was Herbert over passing yards.
28:41You can get 3,500 plus, 3,600 plus. I think as long as he plays the games, you know, I think behind the
28:48aging, the offensive line being struggling and the aging defense, he should have opportunity.
28:53But I think Chargers under is probably the better play.
28:56Yeah. I mean, I project 9.4. So would lean under.
29:00And I've adjusted them down since some of these offensive line injuries and maybe not enough.
29:05All right. Let's move on to the Denver Broncos.
29:08Win total, nine and a half, slightly juiced to the over.
29:11Again, sitting around two to one to win the division.
29:15They were the anti-Chiefs last year. They were one in six in one possession games in 2024.
29:20Flipped it last year. 11 and two in one possession games.
29:24Pretty insane. They ended up going 14 and three and arguably would have been in the Super Bowl if not for Bo Nix's injury.
29:32This team is pretty much running it back. There's not much offseason movement.
29:36They, besides Jalen Waddell, who should help the offense, maybe open up the offense a bit more, helping that intermediary and over the middle of the field.
29:45You know, they lost on defense. They lost Franklin Myers, which might end up being an impactful loss.
29:50And then Drake Greenlaw, who didn't start all year due to injury, is also out the door.
29:56The D was very, very healthy last year. We'll see if that continues.
30:00In addition to the offensive line. And they need that offensive line to stay healthy because it's one of the best in the NFL, if not the best.
30:09And the depth at some of the spots on the offensive line is a bit shaky.
30:15And your tackles are, what, 31 and 34 years old.
30:18So can they stay healthy? Can Miners stay healthy?
30:21But the offensive, it all starts that offensive line in Denver.
30:24They are very, very good. Add Waddell. You know, as long as everyone stays healthy, you would think that this offense takes the next step.
30:33Sean Payton's no longer going to be calling plays, which is interesting.
30:37That's going to be Davis Webb. So we'll see what kind of impact that has on the offense.
30:42And then the defense was elite last year. They can, they're very aggressive.
30:47They can get pressure. They have one of the best corners in the NFL, if not the best.
30:53And Patrick Sertain locking up one side of the field, which gives you a lot of flexibility.
30:58And you're pretty much running it back. Like I said, outside of Franklin Myers, who might be missed.
31:04And then maybe Cooper is potential suspension, which is something to watch.
31:08Anything that you're seeing with the Broncos this year, which is like one of the teams with the least amount of offseason movement?
31:15Yeah, it's kind of nice to be able to look at this roster and know that they're going to be bringing back
31:23most of what they did last year. And I think the Waddell thing is, you know, I don't think, I don't want
31:30to say it's underrated because he's a wide receiver in a fantasy world.
31:34So everyone's going to be talking about him. But they were 25th drop back success rate last year, especially because they were 11th in rush success rate.
31:43So, you know, really pointed at Bo Nix. And on early downs, I thought this was interesting.
31:48First and second down, since he entered the NFL, he's 30 of 34 quarterbacks in success rate, 28 of 34 in completion percentage over expected.
31:56And he's just 24th in ADOT. So those categories really shouldn't be that bad.
32:01So I think Waddell is something that will really, really help them.
32:05And I think that's a massive addition when, you know, we weren't being able to trust, you know, the Sutton's and other
32:12than other receivers like that in the world in Denver in the past.
32:16So I do think that helps. The other thing there is hardest first four weeks in the NFL by opposing win total, sixth highest first nine weeks.
32:25So it doesn't start easy at KC Jacksonville Rams at San Francisco is brutal.
32:30And that's going to be part of one of the bets I think I'm going to be taking with Denver.
32:36I think it's I'm an early fade of theirs.
32:39Like I didn't love what they did last year.
32:42I don't think much has changed other than the Waddell ad.
32:46And I think they're ripe for at least coming down to earth a tiny bit from 14 and three.
32:52That's the way I look at it from Denver standpoint.
32:55Also, the fact they're one of two teams in Seattle that face 10 playoff teams from last year.
33:01Obviously, that flips over and there's different ways to look at it, but still not the easiest schedule.
33:07So I'm kind of anti Denver, but I just think they can bounce back later in the year.
33:13But early on, it's going to be tough. Yeah.
33:16What makes this division even more tough to crack is that, you know, if you want to sell off some of these
33:23teams, you have Peyton Harbaugh and Reed at the helm who just find ways to win and generally speaking, go over their win totals.
33:31I mean, Sean Peyton just is a model of consistency.
33:34He doesn't have these like fall off years for his entire career.
33:38And but as you mentioned, the schedule early is brutal.
33:41You have seven of your first eight games are against projected playoff teams.
33:45And before the bye, so your first nine games of your first eight, you have seven of them against projected playoff teams.
33:53The one that's not is at Arizona, which comes in between the Seahawks and Chiefs.
33:58So like just tricky spot. And then after the Chiefs game, you go out to Carolina before your bye.
34:04So it's your ninth straight game after the Chiefs.
34:07So like your two easiest games over those first nine weeks on the road against Arizona and Carolina are tricky situational spots
34:14where you could see them being flat and potentially getting upset.
34:17On the flip side, the schedule does get easier after the bye.
34:21Only, you know, including that Carolina game, only three of their final nine opponents are projected playoff teams.
34:27And they're overall as a body of body of their their entire schedule.
34:32They're non divisional road games. Not that bad. San Fran, Arizona, Carolina, Pittsburgh, the Jets and New England.
34:37And there's a lot of travel in there. But overall, not bad.
34:41But I will say very bizarre team last year because they actually were pretty unlucky in terms of field goals, penalties, fumbles.
34:48They finished with a negative three turnover margin, but were 11 and two in one score games.
34:54Some of their offensive numbers were like, oh, this offense looks really poor, but they were clutch and they just found ways to win.
35:02Now, I will say by some of the ways that I measure schedules, it ended up being the easiest schedule in the league.
35:09And here's why. When I adjusted, not just for records.
35:13They played. Here's some of their wins. They basically beat a rookie in his first start, Cam Ward, a rookie in his fourth start and seven backups.
35:21Plus the broken Chiefs offense and the broken Philadelphia offense.
35:25They beat two playoff teams all year with their starting quarterback.
35:28That was love and hurts. And the Philly game, they had a crazy comeback.
35:33Green Bay had a big comeback after Parsons got hurt in that game.
35:37I mean, you want to talk about a schedule of opposing quarterbacks that broke in your favor.
35:43That was the Broncos last year. So we'll see if that continues and we'll see if their defense can stay as healthy.
35:50But the Broncos, I project, I'm right on their win total from a projection standpoint.
35:55I want to sell them. I'm not quite there from a numbers perspective.
35:59And I'm just, there's questions about the Chiefs and there's questions about the Chargers.
36:04So it's not like I'm really, really confident in either one of those other two teams that the Broncos are going to get to play four times.
36:12I was going to say this. I'm not investing in their win total because I just think it's difficult to figure out full season with them.
36:21The second half, they're the second easiest second half in the NFL.
36:25Like I do think there's the ability to win like a bunch of games here.
36:30I just feel like it could be difficult out of the gate.
36:34So I'll just say the bets I was looking at was conservatively.
36:37You can bet them to win one of their first five games at four to one.
36:43Again, we talked about this at KC, Jacksonville, Rams, at San Francisco, at the Chargers.
36:48Those are their first five games, which is, you know, not so easy.
36:52And then you can go zero wins at 16 to one.
36:55Pretty crazy. Probably not going to happen. But even if they lost their first two or three, be able to get out of it.
37:03And they're 30 to one for the last winless team, which also probably not going to happen.
37:09But all bets there to kind of fade Denver early.
37:12Yeah. And this goes very south for the Broncos as they get off to a really poor start against a brutal schedule.
37:19And then they have some injuries along the offensive line and or the defense, which they didn't have last year.
37:26And then you're a beat up team in the second half of the year when your schedule gets easier.
37:32Because, yeah, that schedule, especially when you factor in the tough spots against the teams, the two teams where you're like, we're going to get those two wins.
37:41And, you know, you could be going into the bye, you know, potentially, what, three and six and limping into that bye.
37:48And then if you have injuries, then it could end up being a long year.
37:53Let's move on to the Las Vegas Raiders. Win total five and a half, juice to the over.
37:59Last year they finished three and 14. It was an abject disaster.
38:03It was a complete dumpster fire under Pete Carroll, Chip Kelly, and they cleaned house.
38:08They brought in Clint Kubiak, who's going to run the Shanahan offense.
38:12And, you know, the offense we're all very familiar with, it's taking over the NFL slowly.
38:17The offense that his dad ran, you're going to see a lot of play action, heavy personnel, wide zone.
38:23And hopefully the offensive line is better this year because it, like the Chargers, went to, it was just in shambles all year long.
38:31You only, I did this with the Chargers. Let me tell you about the Raiders offensive linemen last year.
38:37Here's the five guys who played the most snaps.
38:40Alex Kappa, out of the league. Stone, fourth scythe, fourth string for the Panthers.
38:45Jordan Meredith is going to be their backup center.
38:48DJ Glaze, still there, still not great. And then Dylan Parham, he was okay.
38:52He's going to be the Jets left guard. Is there hope for the offensive line this year?
38:58I think so because you signed Tyler Linderbell, one of the best centers in the league.
39:03You signed him for a lot of money. Massive upgraded center.
39:07And then you're going to get Colton Miller, who's one of the best left tackles in the league, presumably healthy.
39:13He barely played last year. So your center and left tackle are upgraded probably as much as any team in the league.
39:20I kind of like Powers Johnson, who just fell out of favor.
39:24The other thing with the Pete Carroll, you had his son's coaching, and then you had his son coaching the offensive line.
39:31They bring in a new offensive line coach, which is a big upgrade.
39:36So I don't mind Powers Johnson at guard. The other guard position, it looks like it's going to be Spencer Burford, who you brought in from the 49ers.
39:45He's not great, not great in pass protection. But he knows the Shanahan Kubiak offense.
39:50He was in San Francisco. He's like a mobile guard for that wide zone.
39:54Now in pass protection, it's going to be a little shaky.
39:58But you hope that he's next to Linderbaum and Colton Miller.
40:01Right tackle, DJ Gleis, still going to be an issue.
40:05Maybe Grant or Zoom, someone else wins that job eventually.
40:08But the offensive line should be better, and Bowers should be healthy.
40:12He was pretty much hurt all year before they shut him down.
40:16Quarterback, going to be a new quarterback in town.
40:19And they're going to start with Cousins, see how it goes.
40:22And for what it's worth, Cousins, you know, he shined under Kubiak in 2021.
40:27So there's familiarity there. And then at some point, they're going to bring in Mendoza.
40:32If it's going really well, maybe not. But it's hard to see the Raiders jumping and being like 6-2.
40:38And they're like, we're riding Cousins to a Super Bowl.
40:41So it'll be interesting to see when Mendoza comes in.
40:45The one thing that I am, you still have Gente.
40:48You drafted Washington, who looks great as a, you know, in order to come in and spell Gente.
40:54And they just, because the offensive line was so bad, they couldn't do anything like that.
40:59They couldn't run the ball. They averaged a half yard before contact.
41:03A half yard. So there was just nothing for Gente to do.
41:07And then they would get in the known passing situations.
41:10And then Geno was miserable under pressure. He had no time.
41:14The offense was completely dysfunctional. And Bowers was hurt, who you need to throw to.
41:18Now, the thing is, their wide receivers are still, meh.
41:22I wish they would have done just, they had the most cap space in Lee.
41:27I wish they would have done something to just juice up the wide receiver room a little bit.
41:33So maybe you're probably going to go heavy. You know, it's Kubiak.
41:36You're probably going to go heavier personnel. You're going to see multiple tight ends more, especially since your wide receiver room isn't great.
41:44And then hopefully that gets the run game going, gets the play action going.
41:49And then this offense, for sure, will look a lot smoother.
41:52Now, how good? That is to be determined. Defensively, it's not a great roster defensively.
41:57What you're hoping for is, you know, they went out and spent.
42:01They spent, they brought in linebackers, Quidipe, Kobe Dean, Quay Walker, who are, you know, Quidipe, I like.
42:07Dean and Walker, we'll see if Dean can get back to his pre-injury levels.
42:11Quay Walker has never been great. But it's got to be better than what it was last year.
42:17Now, defensive line, decent against the run, but no, yeah, you look at that defensive line, you're like, oh, it could get ugly quick.
42:25And then obviously you have the star, Max Crosby, who's going to attract all the attention.
42:30Your secondary has a lot of questions. At least you're bringing Teron Johnson, so you'll have a nickel.
42:36They had, like, no nickel last year. I mean, it was a disaster.
42:40I mean, Greedy Vance was playing it at the end of the year.
42:45But you bring in Teron Johnson to play nickel.
42:48Tarion Porter, still at corner. That's not great. Stokes had a good year last year.
42:52We'll see if he can replicate that. One of the keys to this defense is my, I love trading Stoops.
42:59They drafted him in Arizona. I think he's going to end up being their starting free safety for Palomar, who's not good on the back end.
43:08And then you can have Chin play more close to the box where he thrives.
43:12Can he do that as a rookie? He only played, like, 30.
43:16He's a very versatile guy. He played inside. He played nickel.
43:20He played outside corner. He played near the box.
43:23But he only played, like, 40 snaps as free safety.
43:26But if he can come in and be that free safety, that can raise the ceiling of this defense.
43:32But it's still not a very talented unit. And you lose your defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham, who I thought was really good.
43:39This guy has just always gotten the most out of his teams, even though he's rarely had great personnel.
43:46But I would expect the offensive line to be better, the operation to look smoother.
43:51But the wide receiver talent, the defensive talent is still very lacking.
43:55What are you seeing with the Raiders? And what are you expecting from this Mendoza-Cousins split?
44:00I think it's all a choice of what you think the upgraded offensive line does for this team based off what's around it.
44:07I think it's one of the biggest upgrades in the NFL.
44:11I think you said it yourself. Just based off how bad they were and the names that are on the line this
44:18year with Lindenbaum and others, I think it's the biggest question.
44:22It had me looking at what do I think it's going to impact other players?
44:26Like if you look at Ashton Gentry's over-under for yards season long, it's basically asking you, do you think he'll do what he did last year?
44:35It feels crazy because it's like last year, again, you mentioned it.
44:39He's gaining no yards behind that offensive line. He's doing all the work.
44:43If it's any better, you have to imagine he's able to eclipse that number again, especially if they even are thinking about
44:50being better under a new coaching staff. So I thought that was half intriguing.
44:55I think I have it around six and a half, five and a half in terms of the win total.
45:01You know, I don't like the Raiders, but you have to like some team in this division, right?
45:07Like you can't say all four teams are going to go under.
45:11I think the Chiefs, if you're looking at the whole scheme of things, have a chance of getting to that 10-11.
45:18I think Denver and the Chargers being right under those marks feels somewhat realistic.
45:23And I'm more out on the Raiders than anything.
45:26I just see injuries and other things kind of getting in the way.
45:30I see the Cousins thing not really working out after a few weeks, them going to Mendoza.
45:35So I think if I was going to bet this team, the one prop I was looking at, I think Mendoza over
45:4312 and a half passing touchdowns feels light depending on when you think he enters the scheme.
45:48Like I was looking at this November 1st at the Jets.
45:52Felt like maybe that's an opportunity. Because again, the difficulty is they were late by.
45:57I was just going to say the week 13 by kind of throws everything out the window here.
46:02Because that's a natural time to bring in Mendoza.
46:05But do you really want to wait to week 14?
46:09I think the answer is no, and there's no need to.
46:12So say he came in for the Jets game.
46:15You've still got 3, 5, 3. You've got 10 games left to get 13 passing touchdowns.
46:20And that's, you know, saying Cousins doesn't get hurt and he has to enter at another point.
46:26Whatever it ends up being. Felt like it was a little light.
46:30Other than that, I'm just not sure there is a ton to bet here with the Raiders.
46:35Other than maybe a basement bet. Like fewest wins at 10 to 1.
46:40I could potentially see it if, you know, everything goes terrible.
46:43And that, listen, that offensive core. Even if you're running like 13 personnel and you're putting out there like Mayer and Bowers.
46:50Like the receiving core is terrible. And if Gentey and something happens to that offensive line, this team could be abysmal.
46:57So I think that maybe is one way to play it.
47:01Yeah, the bullish case for the Raiders is just like Cousins knows the system.
47:05The offensive line is going to be better. They'll have a rushing attack.
47:10Play action. Feature Bowers. Yeah. The defense, without Graham and you have a first time play caller.
47:15And they're going to go to like a more Seattle type defense.
47:19But obviously with under Hubiak. But Leonard's never called plays.
47:22But we were just talking about like the Chargers.
47:25Now they have offensive line issues. They lost Minter.
47:28Defense is getting older. They're in jeopardy. The Broncos, it's a regression hit them with injuries in close games.
47:34The Chiefs, their roster seems to be going in the other direction.
47:38So do the Raiders benefit from potentially all of that and steal a couple wins in the division?
47:44And then there are non-divisional road games. You can't ask for an easier non-divisional road slate.
47:49But I think that if you're the Raiders, you just want to see progress.
47:54You want to see Mendoza come in at some point and just get some experience.
47:59Stock, I'll also say this. If you like what you're talking about, the division, you could take them over one and a
48:06half division wins at plus 110 on DraftKings. I mean, that's two wins where they play these teams really tight most of the time.
48:14It's a decent thought if you think the other rosters are failing.
48:18I don't mind that. Let's see. They play. I'm seeing the timing of them.
48:22Yeah. They're at the Chargers in the second week.
48:25That's probably going to be tough. But I mean, if the Chargers have all these potential injuries, getting them early might not be the worst thing.
48:34And it's not like the Chargers have a great home field advantage.
48:38Maybe there's more Raiders fans there. You get the Chiefs at home in week four.
48:43And they get the Chargers off a bye. Yeah.
48:46It's not terrible. Chargers at home off a bye.
48:49I'm just thinking of when Mendoza. So Mendoza probably is starting for the last three.
48:53Yeah. Maybe at Denver, which you're probably not going to get.
48:57There's also the chance you're at Kansas City late and Kansas City's resting.
49:01We've seen Kansas City rest a ton. And the Raiders aren't going to tank.
49:06There's no tanking. They have their quarterback of the future.
49:09So I don't mind that. Over one and a half divisional wins at plus money.
49:14Especially because I have so many other questions with these other teams in the division.
49:19I might bet that. Good luck. Amazon Health AI presents Painful Thoughts.

53:43DraftKings, the crown is yours. DraftKings, the crown is yours.
53:46Let's move on to the AFCs, which is pretty much a two-team race between the Bills and the Patriots.
53:52Bills are minus 135 at DraftKings in the division.
53:55Patriots plus 125. And then the Jets are like 20-1, and the Dolphins are 40-1.
54:00The Bills, let's start with the Bills, who are the favorite.
54:04They went 12-5 last year, 6-3 in one possession games.
54:07They have just been, they were so consistent under McDermott.
54:10Since 2020, they've won 13, 11, 13, 11, 13, and 12 games.
54:14Averaged 12.2 wins. If you take all their wins before it was a 17-game slate, they were averaging 12.4 wins per 17 games.
54:21Pretty impressive. 73-27, 73% over that stretch, and they've been nearly unbeatable at home.
54:26This year, there are some changes. They basically purged their defense of all the older guys.
54:31They basically took, they shredded 11 guys that were 29 years old or older on defense, and they're going to a youth movement.
54:39And a lot of those players, the only ones that really mattered, a lot of those players aren't signed anywhere, which tells you that they didn't really matter.
54:48And a lot of them didn't perform last year.
54:51The only ones that really mattered, Teron Johnson at nickel.
54:54And it looks like it's going to be D.
54:57Alford at nickel. Not great, but we'll see. He kind of fits what Jim Leonard wants to do.
55:03And then their offensive guard, David Edwards, that they lost.
55:06We'll see if Alec Anderson can come in and not have much of a drop-off at the left guard spot.
55:13And we also want to see if this offensive line can actually keep staying healthy.
55:18They've missed, I mean, the health on this offense is pretty crazy.
55:22They've missed, the offensive line has missed a total of nine starts over the past three years combined.
55:27We just told you about the Chargers and Raiders who lost multiple starters for the entire year.
55:33They lost nine, and Allen hasn't missed a game since 2018.
55:37And they were first on offense in injury luck last year.
55:40That is a bit of a concern. Now, what do they do to improve this roster?
55:45They bring in D.J. Moore, which you hope, and he's 29 years old, he's been declining.
55:51Maybe a change of scenery with Josh Allen can help him rejuvenate his career and help open up this offense, which just didn't have a lot of explosiveness.
56:00There's not a lot of talent at receiver. They were just a very run-heavy, efficient offense because you have Josh Allen.
56:07You have a really reliable offensive line. So we'll see how much D.J.
56:11Moore can unlock. And then on the defensive side of the ball, major change, major, major change.
56:16You go from Sean McDermott, zone-heavy, bend-don't-break, to Jim Leonard, who comes from the Broncos.
56:21It's going to be aggressive. They're changing to a three-man base front.
56:25You're going to see more man coverage. I like that because what's happened to the Bills in the past, people will always
56:32say, like, oh, Josh Allen, he can't win the big one.
56:36Josh Allen has been the, if you look at many matches, been the number one quarterback in the playoffs statistically since 2020.
56:43Why have they lost? Their defense and their losses have allowed 33, 32, 27, 27, 42, and 38 points.
56:49They've allowed close to 35 points per game, never fewer than 27 points.
56:54And their defense just couldn't get a stop when it mattered the most.
56:58So instead of just this sit-back, passive defense, the Bills said, no, we're going to be the aggressors now.
57:04So if they get to the playoffs, as they have every year for quite some time, they want to be the aggressors when they get there.
57:12And they hope that might change their playoff misfortune.
57:15My question is, do they have the personnel? I mean, they could not stop the run last year to save their lives.
57:23And you look at the personnel on this defense.
57:26They were all drafted for the McDermott 4-3 nickel zone-heavy defense.
57:29Christian Bedford is a good corner, but he's a zone corner.
57:33He hasn't been as great when they play man.
57:36Maxwell Harrison, who hasn't stayed healthy, he has elite speed.
57:39So you would think maybe he profiles as a man corner, but he was drafted as a zone corner.
57:45He played nothing but zone in Kentucky. And then you had all these defense like Greg Russo.
57:51He's going to now be hand-up linebacker off the edge instead of hand-down, which is kind of where he's always played.
57:58And then you're going to need some of these guys that you drafted for the 4-3 on the defensive line to kind of change their roles.
58:06Williams and Bernard, still an underwhelming inside linebacker duo.
58:09You bring in Bradley Chubb, he's 30. He had a down year last year.
58:14Can he bounce back? C.J. Gardner-Johnson raises your floor a bit at safety next to Bishop, which has been an issue.
58:20But there's still a lot of personnel questions on this defense.
58:24One player to watch is Caleb Elamzor, a rookie who's flashing in camp, and he might steal at one of the inside
58:31linebacker jobs, which I think would be a good thing.
58:34Maybe take that job from Williams. But the defense just overall, they're going to need some of these young guys to hit,
58:42and they're going to be in different roles. I like the change to the more aggressive defense, but I'm not sure they
58:49have the personnel to do what Leonard wants to do.
58:52What are you seeing with the Bills this year?
58:55Yeah, I think this is more of a question, and you said it off the top.
59:00Patriots and Bills, how do you kind of look at those two teams against each other?
59:05I think there's clear, clear, clear separation between those two and the Jets and Miami.
59:10And I think some sort of exact does feel like it's ripe for opportunity in this division just because there is such...
59:17And especially if you have a choice between those four teams, it makes it a little bit easier.
59:23I think it's simple in terms of the schedule to just break it down like this.
59:29I think they're non-divisional opponents. The difference between this year and last year makes me feel like they're ripe for a wildcard
59:36berth versus a division crown in this scenario. So I was looking at bets for them to make the playoffs from a wildcard standpoint.
59:44I only saw things like five seed, six seed, and seven seed, which on their own, 10-1, 12-1, 13-1, offer some opportunity.
59:51But I'm sure there's just a wildcard berth vet out there somewhere.
59:55But even if you look at the beginning of the schedule, and you can talk about it kind of similar to Denver,
60:02at Houston, Detroit, Chargers, Patriots, Rams, and then all of a sudden you get your break, but it's at Vegas before the bye.
60:09Even you go after bye, Ravens, Vikings. Like other than your divisional opponents, none of that is simple.
60:15Even facing Minnesota, like a very complete team with a quarterback question, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
60:21You go on. So I do like Buffalo to continue consistency, as you talked about before.
60:26Seven and two to their win total over since 2017.
60:30And their two unders are just by a half win.
60:33More, you know, one game here, a decision there.
60:36I mean, their model of consistency. I just think looking at this schedule this year, and I'm kind of a Patriots guy when I look at the division.
60:45I like what they've done on that side of the ball from offensive stat.
60:50We could talk about that in a minute, but I think it kind of impacts what I think about Buffalo.
60:56The other thing is, and, you know, we talked about this earlier about how much this matters, but they are plus 14
61:03in net rest, second best in the NFL. They were minus seven net rest last year.
61:08So that's a massive difference just in how their schedule plays out.
61:12But, and to be fair, if you look recently with Buffalo, if you go back to, let's say, 24, I believe it
61:20was 2022, they're plus 13, which is close to what they are now.
61:24They went 13 and three. So do I necessarily want to touch their win total?
61:29I don't, but I do like New England. So I thought an interesting way to play it would be the wild card spot.
61:36Yeah. I think the floor is just going to be always so high, as long as.
61:41Yeah. Where it could drop off if it's like Allen finally gets hurt.
61:46If this offensive line finally has injuries, which could happen.
61:49It hasn't happened in a while. Maybe they're overdue for it.
61:53They got a lot younger on defense. They're like, they're going to be more aggressive.
61:57I'm just not sure that they have the personnel on the defense.
62:01How much does VJ Moore really move the needle?
62:04I don't know, but it's still Allen. I mean, look, they didn't have receivers last year and their tight ends were banged
62:11up and they still were one of the most efficient offenses in the league.
62:16They still won 12 games. They're so good. How'd you like the Bills draft from like a defensive standpoint, since you're more in tune with that stuff.
62:25That's my question. I don't like Parker. I like some of the guys they got.
62:30I like Kilgore. He might end up being like a big nickel in this league.
62:35Eman Waray comes from South Carolina too. And then I really like Elam Zor and he might end up starting.
62:41So there's a couple guys that I like. Skyler Bell, I really liked him, but he's like another Shakir in a way.
62:48Like kind of repetitive. I'm not a Parker guy and they need him to hit.
62:53They've missed more than they've hit on these defensive linemen, but we'll see if like Sanders and Jackson can take on these new roles.
63:01Walker can keep progressing and they're going to need that Oliver to have a big year.
63:06But the rest of the defense, there's definitely a lot of questions.
63:10And you're going to have players playing a completely different defense and in different roles.
63:15How is that going to work? I'm not sure.
63:18And you mentioned the schedule. It's going to be much harder this year.
63:22I mean, last year they only faced six. They had six games against playoff teams.
63:27They went three and three. There are three wins.
63:30One came against New England in a ridiculous comeback.
63:33The other two were against Carolina and Pittsburgh. The two teams that got into the playoffs on the last day of the
63:40year limped in and eat one play away from not being playoff teams, which means they would have had one win over
63:47a playoff team, which was the Patriots in a crazy comeback.
63:51This year, they were going to face, projected to face about 10, 11 playoff teams and their non-divisional road games, Houston, Rams,
63:58Green Bay, Vegas in a tough spot, Minnesota and Denver.
64:01Not easy. But this is a Bills team that you can generally pencil them in for 11, 12 wins, but McDermott's not there anymore.
64:09And there might be some higher variance with this defense that's going to look a lot different.
64:15The one thing I was looking at, and I literally just looked this up because I was curious because I was comparing
64:22Buffalo to KC, but when Buffalo leads by seven points or more in any point, they're 26-0 over the last two years.
64:29So, I mean, just that stat in general. They're not giving up a single lead ever, and they're getting to these wins.
64:36So, when does it crack and how does it crack?
64:40That's the reason I looked wild card. But that stat just threw the roof.
64:44Crazy. All right. Let's move on to the aforementioned Patriots.
64:47Win total 10.5, choose to the under. A magical year for the Patriots.
64:52They went 14-3. Somehow made it to the Super Bowl because they got to face playoff Herbert, who vomited all over himself outdoors.
64:59Playoff Stroud, who vomited himself outdoors. And then they got to face not Bo Nix, but Jared Stidham in Denver.
65:06And they got to the Super Bowl and then got shellacked.
65:09Drake May had an incredible year. I mean, one of the best completion percentage over expectations in NFL history.
65:16He was number one in EPA dropback. One of the stats that really sums it up is he led the league in
65:23completion percentage with the highest average depth of target.
65:26He went from 30 second in tight coverage throws to second.
65:29They had the highest explosive play rate in the league.
65:32He was great. And now you can argue that they upgraded on offense because you bring in A.J.
65:38Brown, you bring in Romeo Dobbs, and you hope that the offensive line takes a step forward.
65:44Will Campbell may be healthier, improves, although I still have questions there.
65:48You bring in Tucker at guard. You move Wilson to center, his more natural position.
65:53And if that's the case, this offense maybe goes to another level.
65:57Now, I will say it's hard to rely on explosives hitting at that level once again.
66:02But on paper, they improved their offense. Their defense, pretty much running it back.
66:06They got a lot more blitz heavy at the end of the year.
66:11But, you know, they lose Tonga up front. They lose Hawkins at safety, but bring in Byard.
66:16And, you know, they lose a couple linebackers. But this defense is pretty much running it back.
66:22A very reliable cornerback trio in Gonzalez, Jones, and Davis.
66:25Now, Gonzalez and Davis stayed healthy last year. They've been injury prone in the past.
66:30We'll see if they can stay healthy. And that is one of the things that worked in the Pats' favor.
66:36You want to talk about a regression bounce back and a potential regression candidate?
66:41I think everyone has heard this by now. The Pats in 2024 were one of the unluckiest teams in the NFL.
66:48For every metric, they were unlucky. And then last year, every metric, they were lucky.
66:53One score games, they went seven and three. They had the easiest schedule in the NFL.
66:58Easiest schedule. Easiest offensive schedule. Easiest defensive schedule. Number one in health.
67:02They had the fewest amount of games lost to injury.
67:05Fumble luck. They had 20 fumbles, only lost eight.
67:08Their opponents, 14, lost nine. Fourth downs, they went 18 of 25 on fourth down.
67:13Their opponents, 10 of 30. Quarterback injuries. Defense on late downs, which isn't as predictive as early downs, was super elite compared
67:20to what they did on early downs. Now they get a first place schedule.
67:25You get Pitt, Jacksonville, Seattle. Last year, that was Tennessee, Vegas, and the Giants.
67:29And you also get the NFC North instead of the NFC South.
67:33And if you look what they did last year, their non-divisional road games this year are Seattle, Jacksonville, Chicago, Detroit on a neutral overseas.
67:41The Chargers and Chiefs. All those teams are expected to make the playoffs.
67:45Last year, their non-divisional road games, New Orleans with Rattler, Tennessee, Tampa Bay with a banged up Baker, Cincinnati with Flacco, and Baltimore when Lamar got hurt.
67:54That is a grand total of zero playoff teams.
67:57Schedule gets much, much tougher. They only faced four playoff teams last year.
68:01They beat the Panthers, the Bills. Then they went two and two.
68:05And then they lost to the Steelers and the Bills.
68:09This year, they're projected to face nine, ten playoff teams.
68:12Schedule's still not hard, but it's going to be much more difficult than last year when it was the easiest by far.
68:19And also, everything broke their way. I mean, look, you got Lamar.
68:23When Lamar got hurt, you faced Brady Cook, Quin Ewers, Flacco, Gabriel, Rattler.
68:27It was one of the ten easiest schedules in the NFL since 1975.
68:31For what it's worth, if you look at the other nine teams, they had an average win drop the following year of about three and a half wins.
68:40It doesn't include the Bengals in a strike year that went from seven and two to seven and nine.
68:47The only team that improved their wins was the 1991 Dolphins.
68:50The other teams dropped by two, two, three, three, five, five, six, seven, and four wins.
68:56Now, the Patriots dropped three to four wins. You're going from 14 to 10 or 11, which is right around where their win total is.
69:04Can the Patriots avoid the regression monster and repeat in this division and get back to the playoffs?
69:10And look, you have to ask the questions. May, he was horrendous in the playoffs.
69:14Part of that was the offensive line. But it just showed you, OK, this doesn't look as good as it did in the regular season.
69:23And some of the teams made some adjustments in coverages.
69:26You seem to like the moves that the Patriots did.
69:29You think they'll be back in the playoffs? Yeah, I do.
69:33I mean, I think the question overall is, do we think they're better than they were last year?
69:39I just think that's a blanketed statement with a lot of different answers.
69:43But I think that's something you just need to ask yourself.
69:46Offense, defensive, special teams. Look at the whole thing and ask yourself, do you think they're better now?
69:52Last year, a ton broke their way. Like, in reality, you know, is there a bunch of scenarios where they don't make
69:59it out of the divisional round, etc., etc.? I think there is.
70:03But I don't know how much that changes how I feel about them this year when you're just looking at them from, like, a divisional standpoint.
70:12You look at the schedule. I feel like overall they're just a really complete team with a really good coach and have
70:19lots of options, especially now adding what I'm going to call, with quotes, a motivated player in A.J.
70:25Brown. But also, Romeo Dobbs. I think that is a nice addition that people don't want to give as much credit to,
70:32but I think can be really helpful. I think they're much better on offense.
70:37And I think on defense, they're still going to be able to do almost, pretty much as good as they did last year.
70:44Now, from a schedule standpoint, there's a lot of ways to cut this up.
70:49And you look at win totals. You look at futures.
70:52You look at playoff teams, projected play. There's just a lot of ways to look at this.
70:58If you just look at win totals, I mean, they're still at the fifth easiest schedule in the league.
71:04So I just – and they're also plus eight in net rest.
71:08So that's something that still helps them. And you look at first four weeks, first nine weeks, second nine weeks.
71:14There's still plus four, plus four, plus four in terms of net rest in those three.
71:19So it's like, I don't know. I look at this team and say, yeah, maybe the Super Bowl loser thing gets them in that first game against Seattle.
71:2911 and 15 straight up, 6 and 20 ATS.
71:32People understand that number. But it's just one weekend.
71:34You know, we've seen things before where the Super Bowl loser tends not to repeat, make the playoffs, things of that nature.
71:42That I get. But I think this New England team, based off what the rest of the division looks like and what
71:49I see from Buffalo's schedule, I think there's an opportunity here.
71:52Here's one thing I do think is interesting. So they do go 12 and 5 against the spread last year, tied for best mark in the NFL.
72:01They do a great job there, basically covering all season long.
72:05Teams, after a 70 plus ATS win percentage the previous season, there's still 60 and 43 ATS in their first four games
72:12the next year and 56% first eight games. So, I mean, I do believe there is the opportunity for New England to stay on course and on path.
72:21So that's the way I'm going to bet on them.
72:24I'll give you my two bets or so I like in a second.
72:29But that's my overall feeling here of the Patriots.
72:32Yes, they got better on paper. Like you add Brown, you add Dubs.
72:36Sure. Presumably upgraded your offensive line. But there are some teams that just scream obvious regression and then it happens.
72:42It was Washington last year, right? Everyone was saying it and then it all fell apart.
72:48The fourth downs, the injuries came, it fumbled. So, like, you look at any match.
72:52So this screams to me that the Patriots are going to have to deal with injuries.
72:58The fourth down lock is going to flip. The one possession game is going to flip.
73:03Something's going to happen. You're at the, maybe the Vrabel thing is a distraction.
73:07But the schedule gets much more difficult. I mean, like, the fumble lock, the fourth downs, the late down defense.
73:14And the depth, too. If they have injuries, the depth.
73:17Like, we saw, they stayed so healthy last year except for, like, the defensive line.
73:22And then when, like, one person would be out, they'd be like, oh, my God, they can't stop the run now because Milton Williams is out.
73:31Like, just one guy. So, like, if you start, if you lose, like, Christian Gonzalez.
73:36And guys that have been hurt that all stayed healthy last year.
73:39You also lost Chase Lani, who was your best pressure guy.
73:43And Hawkins, who I thought was pretty important for them.
73:46So, I just think the regression is coming for New England.
73:50It's just so much. But you would have it flipped, right?
73:53So, like, Buffalo would win the division. But you still have New England being second.
73:58Like, you don't see them falling, you know, to third or something like that, do you?
74:04Well, unless May gets hurt. And then it's Tommy DeVito.
74:07Yeah, yeah, yeah. Without that projection. Yes. To me, this is – I mean, I project them 9.8.
74:13Sure. I think they're a 9-10 win team. So, I'm probably going to have some on the under at 10 and a half.
74:20I'll tell you this. Hold on. My two bets I liked here.
74:24Oh, yeah. Exact finish. If you're going to like New England at the top, Buffalo second.
74:29I feel like New England, Buffalo, Jets, Miami is like a natural division.
74:34It's still plus 330 to 350 in places. I think that's worth a nibble.
74:38And we took this on the favorites pod. I still like this as well.
74:43Even adding Brown and Dobbs doesn't mean this number doesn't hit.
74:46But three and a half rushing touchdowns for Drake May for the regular season just feels low.
74:52So, that would be my bet. All right. Let's move on to the New York Jets coming off a 3-14 disastrous year.
74:59The only thing that went right was the special teams, which are historically good.
75:04And their offensive lines stayed healthy. So, if you're looking for potential things that could go wrong this year, it's like, can their special teams be as good?
75:13Probably not. Can their offensive line, which has some promise, can they stay as healthy?
75:18Maybe not. If they do, there's other things that you think should break their way.
75:23This is a team minus 19 turnover margin. And I'm burying the lead.
75:27They had zero interceptions. The first team in NFL history.
75:30You know how long the NFL has been played?
75:33They had no interceptions. They had a negative 13 interception delta, a negative 34 sack delta.
75:38They were unlucky with fumbles, unlucky with injuries, and somehow didn't get interceptions.
75:42And by the way, teams that have that bad of injury luck historically, it's not many, but usually the bounce back is extreme.
75:50They go out and they bring Geno Smith in at quarterback.
75:54Had a terrible year with the Raiders, but you hope that he gets more protection this year.
75:59And on defense, they bring in a lot of guys.
76:02You know, you bring in Fitzpatrick, Sweat, Davis, Anyamada, Osai, Enigbare.
76:06Now, I'm still worried about the secondary overall, but the defense definitely raised its floor.
76:11And how much can the rookies help? I like their draft class.
76:15D'Angelo Pons, Cooper, seems like it's going to take him some time.
76:19I'm Sadiq, Bailey, they drafted in the top five to come in and help the pass rush.
76:24Problem is Pons and Sadiq are, Pons might take over that nickel role.
76:29They're dealing with injuries right now, so I don't know when they'll be back or how much they can contribute early.
76:35But I would expect that you'd see more two tight end sets here, because now you have Sadiq to go along with Taylor.
76:43You're going to have a healthy Garrett Wilson, who, by the way, didn't catch a pass after week six and still led the team in receiving yards.
76:52Everything screams bounce back here, but there's a couple things that I don't like.
76:56Frank Reich is your offensive coordinator. Aaron Glenn's going to call the defense.
77:00He says that's his superpower, but he hired a McDonald guy.
77:04Why not give up the defensive play call? And Glenn, I'm just, has never been the biggest fan of him schematically.
77:11And like this, they want to get as low of a draft pick as possible.
77:16Now, what does that mean? They're still going to try.
77:19But people say like, you're going to tank. Tanking just comes at the very end of the season when like upper management
77:26might be like, shut this guy down. Don't play this guy.
77:30But the interesting thing is this staff probably wants to win, because I don't think the staff is going to be here next year, right?
77:38If they, they're going to go get the, the Jets goal this year is to get a low, like overarching is to
77:45get a low draft pick to get their, you know, historically good quarterback class to get their quarterback for the future next year.
77:53Stock, your problem is, is the coaching staff and like the ownership are going to have different goals by like five or six.
78:00Yep. A lot of regression positive probably coming for this team.
78:04Like they might just have a million forced turnovers.
78:07I mean, 1.7% of their opponent drives ended in a turnover.
78:10The previous low was 4%. Ever. 1.7%. The previous low was 4%.
78:14They got a lot younger. It was an old ass team last year, especially on defense.
78:19They got a lot younger. I think their talent is better, even though they lost, you know, they lost sauce car and
78:27I lost Quinny Williams midway through last year. I think their defense has a pretty high floor.
78:32And then you throw in the potential for just a lot of turnover regression.
78:37They could be decent. Offensive line is trending up.
78:40I project a little over six wins. So plus money over five and a half.
78:45I think I'm in. Even though they probably want to lose, they're still pros.
78:49They're still trying. I think I'm in on the Jets over.
78:53It's scary. But it would be so Jets to go like seven and ten in a year where there's a historically good quarterback draft.
79:01I mean, that's what happened with Zach Wilson, right?
79:04They won on that the last week and they ended up with Zach Wilson.
79:08So it would be so Jets for them to win seven games this year.
79:13Numbers wise, I'm in on the Jets. You agree or disagree?
79:16Yeah. I mean, I see the vision for the Jets.
79:20I think the issue is their rookies. I love their rookies.
79:23I want to make sure they're not hurt. I want to make sure they're getting minutes on this team.
79:29I want to make sure they're getting snaps and plays.
79:33Because I feel like the more the Jets are going to play them and the Jets are going to try to win
79:40games, I think they have a very good chance of getting to that six win mark.
79:45I think an interesting way to play the Jets wins is something we talked about earlier.
79:50And obviously you would have to be on board with both of these.
79:54But something of the fact is the Jets that have more regular season wins than the Raiders.
80:00Like if you didn't like what we had just talked about, that's a plus 130.
80:05So maybe you're able to get under six wins, but still win that bet if you don't like the Raiders.
80:11That was one thing I considered in that situation.
80:14I don't know if I can fully endorse just blindly taking the win total because I think it's going to be so
80:22frustrating when they're just purposely losing games later for reasons unbeknownst to whoever's starting a quarterback.
80:27Maybe it's Klubnik by that point. But I'll say this, the one bet you almost have to make at this point is
80:34Cam Ward to throw a pick in week one.
80:37Right? Like that almost feels like something that absolutely has to happen.
80:41Because if not, Love, Goff, maybe Caleb, like this could, you know, maybe Shador week five.
80:46But either way, Cam Ward week one interception has to be the most fun bet you can make.
80:52I'm going to bet the Jets win. I'm betting the Jets win total over.
80:56Oh, I know you are. I'm going to bet the opposing quarterback to throw an interception every week of the year.
81:03I like that. Yeah, I mean, I'm fascinated to know what the odds are going to be week to week, depending on obviously if that continues.
81:12Also, for fun, they do play the Steelers in the preseason and they didn't have a pick in the first preseason game.
81:19So this is pretty much extending as far as possible.
81:22I'll also say this about your Jets win total.
81:25They do have the third easiest strength of schedule looking at win totals in the NFL.
81:30I mean, that's obviously based on facing the Dolphins twice and et cetera, et cetera.
81:35But their strength of schedule isn't very difficult if they're trying to win these games, especially as you get, you know, you do end with the Bills.
81:44But you've got the Cardinals in there. The Bills could be resting.
81:48And you've got the Raiders at home. There's good opportunities.
81:51The Jets tanking? What a game. Yeah. Browns at home.
81:55Raiders at home. You're at the Cardinals. But those are some pretty easy games, especially with the Dolphins twice.
82:01So I see the vision. I think there might honestly be some opportunities with like Garrett Wilson props.
82:07Like if he plays a bunch of games with Geno, Geno slings the ball all over the place.
82:13So I think those might be a little low too.
82:16Yeah. I mean, yeah, that's, I just think it's a little low.
82:20I mean, yeah, you mentioned it. They face Arizona, Cleveland, Vegas, Tennessee, Miami twice.
82:24I think they can pick off the Pats or the Bills at home.
82:29They're going to catch someone napping at home on like a rainy, rainy afternoon in New York in November.
82:35Like the Broncos. Remember the Broncos beat them like 12-10.
82:38And they're coming off the bye there. So maybe that's an opportunity to get one too.
82:43They could get the Raiders at home when it's like Mendoza's first start on the road.
82:48I mean, you look last year, it was, they were one of the worst offenses and defenses in the league.
82:55And they won three games. They went three and five and one possession games.
83:00You know, they lost to the Broncos on a neutral by two.
83:03They lost to the Panthers by seven. They lost at the Dolphins by six.
83:08They lost at the Bucks by two. They lost to the Steelers at home by two.
83:13So like they were close to starting off, you know, they started off 0-7.
83:18They could have been like three and four. And then for the season, they would have won like six, seven games.
83:25And that was with a minus 19 turnover margin and no interceptions.
83:29And then they just, everything went to shit. They traded some of their best players and they looked like they quit.
83:35So I'm going to be on the over reluctantly because I'm a sicko.
83:40But let's move on to the Dolphins. Win total three and a half.
83:44Juice to the over. Per Aaron Schatz, since 1990, only six teams have had a preseason over-under, four wins or less.
83:51All of them won at least four games. 91 Pats, 95 Panthers, 95 Jags, 2002 Texans, 2017 Jets, and the 2021 Texans.
83:58Can the Dolphins get there? This is a cleaning of house.
84:02They just, and they needed to do it. The management was so bad.
84:06The roster was so bad. The drafting was so bad.
84:09They basically just said, get rid of anyone expensive.
84:12Let's just start over, which they needed to do.
84:15And Jeff Halfley comes in as the new head coach.
84:18Bobby Slowik as new office coordinator. Not sure how much I love that.
84:22Bring in Malik Willis at quarterback. And I don't know.
84:26I can't really say much else nice about this roster.
84:29I mean, it is the wide receivers. I mean, Greg Dolsich, is he going to?
84:34What's your favorite? Let's do this. What's your favorite unit?
84:37Like, what do you think is the bright spot, if anything?
84:41Linebacker. Okay. I mean, you have Brooks as a stud.
84:44You have Rodriguez might end up starting for Dotson.
84:47You have Gay. So like their front seven isn't terrible.
84:50They need some of these guys that bounce back years and like Chop Robinson to live up to his job.
84:57Chop and Grant have to be better. Yes. He had a bad year last year, but he's getting up there in age now.
85:04But their secondary is like, I like Chris Johnson.
85:07I think he's going to be the nickel for them.
85:10He's a rookie. Their outside corners are woof. Their safeties are woof.
85:14Yeah. I like their draft class. Like you got Proctor.
85:18He's going to play guard. It's kind of a high pick when you're rebuilding for a guard, but I think he profiles more as a guard.
85:26I maybe would have went for a tackle there.
85:29But you, I think at some point this year, you just are like, you want to play Chris Johnson.
85:35You want to play Rodriguez. You want to play Kazmeric at tight end.
85:39You want to play some of these younger receivers, Douglas and Bell, maybe even Kyle Lewis.
85:45Michael Taff at safety, put him in there. See what you have.
85:49Your safety is already bad anyway. Just find out what you have with these rookies.
85:53The floor is very low with this team. His receivers are bad.
85:57The offensive line is still not great. I mean, Patrick Paul at left tackle showed some promises the year progressed.
86:04He still can't run block. You have one of the worst guards in the NFL in Sabanaya.
86:09Proctor, the other guard is a rookie. Aaron Brewer is good at center.
86:14You hope Austin Jackson can stay healthy. I mean, their offensive line was so unhealthy last year.
86:19So you hope that changes. But this roster is, it's bad.
86:23And here's the thing. The schedule is brutal. Yeah.
86:26And the receiving core is tough. Like, it's not exactly you're going to put up a ton of points.
86:32Yeah. And their schedule is vicious. So like, there's, it's, look at this schedule.
86:37Yeah. But I'll tell you, I'll tell you this.
86:39So Miami last year. Tell me the games before you tell me that.
86:44Tell me the games on the schedule where you're like, okay, this is a win.
86:49Well, I mean, listen, you're talking about a team with a three and a half win total.
86:54Yeah. I think, I think week one is like a demarcation point for both teams.
86:59Yes. Like, I think it has a lot, can, can have a lot to do with going forward, but let's let's just move beyond week one.
87:08Weird things happen in week one too, people. Yeah.
87:10Don't overreact to what you say. Correct. The Jets games are always winnable.
87:15Other than that, it becomes very difficult. Like the Colts, if they are, if they're just bad, like, could they pick them off?
87:22Sure. Well, the problem is all their, their, their games at home are the Chiefs, Bengals, Patriots, Lions, Bears, Chargers, Bills.
87:29Insane. Insane. So like for a brand new team, you got like your most winnable games, which are the Raiders and then the Jets, maybe the Colts then.
87:38Like this is a brutal, brutal schedule. This looks like a schedule of a team that finished in first place.
87:45I almost hope, and we can have this discussion as well from like a gambling standpoint.
87:50And remember, you can obviously do this. Like you can bet win totals after week one, week two, like these things exist all the way through.
87:58I almost hope they win week one because I do feel like getting them under four and a half or whatever the
88:06heck they're going to post it at after that is intriguing.
88:09But it's, it's impossible. Yeah. I like to, I'm, I like to look at that after week one because of the overreactions
88:16and week one there's week one last year, the Raiders went into new England and beat the shit out.
88:23Correct. Um, pretty funny result. I can't go, I just can't go under three and a half.
88:28Like it's ingrained in me. There's a, there's better ways to play it.
88:32Yeah. Because like, it's just, you, like I just said, all six teams at a win total of under four went, went over or pushed.
88:41Or are they all, no, they all went at at least four wins because like it's, it's still the NFL and like, here's what happens.
88:49You, you, you beat the Raiders in week one, right?
88:52This is an easy, the easiest way to like, this is how the Dolphins win five games, even though they suck.
88:59You beat the Raiders in week one. You beat the Jets at home.
89:03That's two wins. New England rests in the final week.
89:06And you win that. Although the Dolphins will be, might, might be tanking, but you know, if New England rests everybody and they're just playing all backups.
89:15And then all you have to do to get over three and a half, you play the Pats or say the, because
89:22you play the Pats twice or you play the Bills twice.
89:26Josh Allen's out for the year. Drake May's out for the year.
89:30One of those happens. All of a sudden those teams are come way down and it drastically changes your projection.
89:36And then you get like almost, you know, you're playing who's the Bills backup.
89:41Kyle Allen's not even winning that job. It might be, I forget who the other guy is.
89:46They could win both Jets games easily. I mean, they're at the Jets off the buy.
89:52I mean, it's a shot, but they could win both of those games.
89:56So yeah, I completely agree. I can't go under three and a half.
90:00I prefer what it's worth. I project a 4.1.
90:03So like I should go over three and a half.
90:06Obviously, I mean, it's just minus 150. So like I'm kind of close.
90:11I'm not playing you over, but I, and I definitely can't go under based on my projection and just I will never go under something that low.
90:19All right, let's jump into our favorite bets from the AFC East and AFC West presented by DraftKings.
90:25I'll kick things off, Evan. Let's get ugly. Start things off.
90:292026 NFL season. I'm going to go with the Jets over.
90:33God help us. I just think that the regression is coming.
90:36The defense should be better. The Dolphins are going to be miserable.
90:40The Patriots are in the opposite end of the spectrum with the Jets.
90:44And I have a lot of questions about the Bills.
90:48And there's, there's, there's a handful of very winnable games on the Jets schedule, which unlike the Dolphins is pretty favorable.
90:54Let's go Jets over. Jets over win total or Aaron Glenn to be fired first.
90:59Both feel like fine bets there. Uh, I'm joking with you.
91:03My bet is going to be, I, this is to me, this is just the more creative way to play Miami.
91:10Uh, and it's, I like Arizona a little bit.
91:13So I do like Arizona to have more wins than Miami.
91:16If you're a fan of Miami living in Florida, believe they're going to be bad.
91:21Like I do. And stuck does. You could tell this back.
91:25Cause DraftKings sports now available, all 50 States, including the great state of Florida.
91:29So, uh, you can take the Jets over wins or you can take my fun bet where you're kind of rooting for
91:36the young people in Arizona to have a few more wins than your low league.
91:41Are we going to call them the green Bay dolphins or the Miami Packers?
91:46Cause I haven't decided which sounds better, but either way, that franchise, I don't even think they're worth a naming this year,
91:53but they needed to blow it up. I'm the, I'm happy for, for dolphins fans.
91:58Like it was just, you were just treading and headed nowhere fast.
92:02So now you can wipe it all clean, start over fresh.
92:06And, uh, in a couple of years and look, you're, you're in a division with like Drake may Josh Allen right now.
92:13So like, it's a good time to start over, rebuild this focus on like three to four years from now.
92:19Right. Because this year, even if you try to keep it the same, this is still going to be a two team race in the division.
92:28So timing wise. If you're a dolphins fan, just rude for Ollie Gordon to look great.
92:33Other bets that I potentially like, I'm probably going to end up selling the Patriots.
92:38Although, but, uh, I want to say, I just think the chiefs are too high and there's too many questions on that defensive depth chart right now.
92:47The chargers, I can't buy because of now the offensive line injuries, the potential for a drop off on defense with an aging roster and no mentor.
92:55I kind of, because of some of those questions and then maybe some regression hitting the Broncos, I fun ride might be Raiders.
93:03You brought it up. Raiders over one and a half division wins at plus.
93:08I don't want to invest in the Raiders like all year, but that's a bet you could hit without the Raiders being good.
93:15Yeah. They could go two and yeah. All right.
93:18Uh, and then potentially some long shots that you were looking at are Broncos early, like last winless team and last one of this team.
93:26I, there's some long shots here. I can go them, uh, through them quickly.
93:31The longer bets were that, uh, last winless team for, uh, Denver.
93:35And then for the chargers, I liked the alt at eight to one for protector of the year, which could be something fun.
93:42You can hold with you. Uh, Bill's wild card.
93:45I love that Drake may rushing touchdown bet. Uh, and then my, uh, Arizona and have more wins in Miami.
93:52I love it. All right. That'll do it for us.
93:55And the AFC East and AFC West up next, the AFC North and AFC South with myself and Anthony Dabundo.
94:01Thank you to Evan for joining me. Thanks to our producers on the back end.

95:51Think about it. When it comes to your own food, you can walk into a restaurant, see what's being made, and know exactly what you're getting.
96:00But with dog food, most brands keep that completely hidden.
96:03Just Food for Dogs does the opposite. They've built their entire brand around open kitchens.
96:08You can actually walk in and watch them prepare your dog's meals with real human-grade ingredients like chicken, beef, carrots, and peas
96:15cooked right there in front of you. No mystery, no behind-the-scenes you're not allowed to see.
96:20That kind of transparency is rare in the pet food world.
96:24And it's a big reason they've become the number one vet-recommended fresh dog food, earning trust from pet parents who want to feel confident in what they're feeding.
96:33When a brand is willing to show you exactly how your dog's food is made, it says a lot about the care,
96:40quality, and standards behind every meal they produce. Nothing to hide.
