Ertz will sit out for the third game in a row while on the practice squad. The Eagles have already used up his three temporary elevations, so he can only play if he's on the roster. The Eagles have instead opted to go with Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, Eli Stowers, and Grant Calcaterra as their top four tight ends. Ertz continues to be seven receptions away from tying the Eagles' all-time franchise record.

The source criticizes a play call on third-and-2 from the Rams' 6-yard line, an outside zone run to the left toward Zach Ertz that loses five yards. Ertz doesn't run a particularly good route and takes too long to become available on a crash concept play-action pass, but the real issue is that Hurts cannot wait for him because the protection is already breaking down due to Jurgens whiffing at the line and failing to pick up the stunt. The throw's timing is dictated by a free defender rather than the route development.
